#kingdom hearts 3 #kh3 #san fransokyo #scenery #my gif #made sure to put equal parts night and day versions of the city #because i think they both look stunning #i love the verticality of this world. it's fun to climb up to the highest point and fly over all the buildings #if i played this game as a kid i feel like i would 100% pretend sora lived in this city and would find a house for him haha #something that always piqued my curiosity was sora's initial response to first setting foot in this world #he's immediately amazed by what he sees and remarks in awe of the city that he hasn't even fully entered yet (he's still on the bridge)#then he quickly pulls out is phone and wants to tell riku all about it even though he just got there #(i'm sad they didn't make a kingstagram post about it that we could see!)#being islanders from a small town i can imagine it'd be an exciting idea to visit a big bustling city and i wondered if that's-#something they've ever talked about together whenever the topic of exploring new worlds came up as children #it could be some sneaky foreshadowing since the secret ending has sora and riku in quadratum which is also a big city with tall buildings #and i'm sure it's no coincidence that a version of riku shows up in san fransokyo

I deeply, deeply hate cleaning. Not tidying, which is fine---cleaning, which requires a small forest of paper towels and solvents for various surfaces. (Why so many different solvents? Hasn't science come up with One Solvent To Clean Everything yet? Get on that, science.) It's something I really only do when I'm expecting company---specifically my mother, because she is someone who finds wiping down the baseboards relaxing for reasons I can't fathom.

What I do love is the period directly after cleaning, when you can't move or really do anything, because of course that would ruin(!!!) all your efforts. Instead, you are forced to sit in heroic stillness and eat takeout, on reveling in the Cleanliness and also how you won't have to do this again for 6 months.

#I mean. it's good that she visits me every six months because it's a good excuse to clean everything.#but also. I hate cleaning the floors. I don't understand why we HAVE baseboards.#and I've been in living in this apartment long enough that I've started getting dust #ON THE WALLS #excuse me those are vertical!!! how is there visible dust adhering to a VERTICAL SURFACE #ugh. sorry I promise I will be more interesting again next week in the interim you have to deal with cleaning and weather.#celestial emporium of benevolent knowledge

now i gotta worry about bats swooping in on me at any time. on top of all the normal boring stuff im worried about

#when it happened in january i was like huh weird. but we do live right up against a bunch of wilderness and ive seen/heard them outside #but when it happened again last night i was like hm. thats more bats in my room in a year than id appreciate #if it happens again then ill know its no mere coincidence #my leading theory is theyre somehow getting in thru the attic space via the vents or air ducts perhaps #there is a big silvery tube that runs vertically thru my closet and theres a slight gap where it enters and exits the floor/ceiling

As urban expansion quickly replaces natural habitats, façade engineer Alistair Law has discovered a new way to restore native ecosystems for pollinators and create natural spaces for us all within cities – by turning the walls of buildings into meadows.

Alistair has developed his “Vertical Meadows” as a way to combat biodiversity loss in the heart of cities like London. To do it, he’s targeting the vertical surfaces of buildings and installing seasonal living walls of plants that are native to the region, grown directly on-site. The engineering builds on existing systems so the plants thrive year-round with limited need for water, and installation remains simple and cheap. He gets his seeds from Donald Macintyre, who grows a wild array of native plants with the help of his daughter (and some Shire horses). Together, they hand-harvest each flower to provide a biodiverse mix of 50 different native species.

Alistair is joined by Scarlett Weston of BugLife at a vertical meadow in full bloom in downtown London. She’s monitoring bees visiting the meadow, and hopes more pollinators will use these sites as stepping stones across the city, helping to bridge gaps along larger corridors she’s establishing across the UK.
