chapter three - face the music ‘Cause if you don’t believe, you know yeah you know it can never do you harm, if you don’t believe it can’t hurt you — nothing but thieves, graveyard whistling
It was odd how even after everything that had already happened, all the shock and horror and dismay, the realization and that first little microscopic shred of reluctant acceptance of what was happening again— the urgency of it all didn’t really hit Ryan until the split second in which Dylan began to reach for the pulled wire in the radio hut.
That goddamned fucking wire that started it all—
The realization of imminent disaster struck him like a bolt of lightning.

After finding Evienne dead at Aria’s, William took her to his house and laid her on Sofia’s bed. He cleaned around the ugly gash on her neck, and took her in before leaving her to do her healing. He stayed in, watching over her during her ressucting process. WIll could see the color coming back to her features, and then her chest moving up and down in a slow, deep breathing. She would be waking up soon. As he arranged the har of water and the glass by the nightstand imagining she’s be thirsty when she’d awake, he wondered if the cure even needed to drink anything, or if she eat at all. He shook his head, but left the jar behind before walking back to the kitchen, working on cooking something for them. Who knows, maybe even the cure needed to have something on her stomach after being back from the dead.

August 30th | Delena
Elena hadn’t been feeling well for the past couple of days, specially during the mornings. She couldn’t even feel the scent of fried things in the air that her stomach turned into knots, and she could swear her face turned green. That morning, she felt so sick that she was afraid she got food poisoned again. It wasn’t until she opened her medicine box and looked at the tampons she realized something. She didn’t had her period last month.... Maybe all the symptoms she felt was something else. She got pale, and barely said good morning to Damon when she saw him on the kitchen, she went to the hospital and got a blood test for Beta HCG levels. Time seemed to slow down until her shift was over and she got the result on her hands, that were shaking when she opened it alone in the dressing room.
Her first reaction was shock, Elena read the result for at least eight times till it hit her. “ BETA HCG POSITIVE FOR PREGNANCY"
She was going to be a mother. The tears started falling down her cheeks, or happiness, but also worry. Having a child was another of her dreams coming true.... But what if she’d be a terrible mother... What if Klaus or the Augustines threatened her or her new family. At least she wasn’t alone in protecting this child... Elena knew Damon would protect their baby was fiercely as she would.
Damon!
She had to tell him. He was probably worried with her by the way she stormed out from their loft that morning. Elena wanted to make him a surprise, she bought a small box and more things to give to him when he was back home that night, and once again she was feeling nervous again, unsure on how Damon would react with these news.

caroline had to admit that she was disappointed the plans for france had been put on hold. or cancelled completely, as it seemed. she wanted to talk to damon about it, maybe he could try and change stefans mind. as much as she knew the two brothers would miss each other, but she believed that there lives would never be the same until they got out of mystic falls. she didn’t know if damon would be home, but she turned up at his and elenas marital home anyway, knowing that if he wasn’t there, she could get elenas opinion on all of it. she knocked on the door and awaited an answer, folding her arms across her chest.

from you iotd: Radio DJ Brienne hosts an early hours show that Jaime, suffering after the loss of his hand, always listens to.
I know this was one of my ideas, but even I had to do a twist on it. Also, all my radio knowledge is pretty much from watching Frasier, so apologies for any inaccuracies. I hope you enjoy it all the same, Anon! Prompt #92!
“Well, it’s coming up to two-thirty am, listeners. We’re going to play the new track by Arianne Sand, and then take a few of your calls. You’re listening to Renly Baratheon on Shipbreaker FM, 89.20.”
In the booth, Renly cued up the latest track and slipped his headphones down when the off air light went on. Through the glass separating them, he offered Brienne a warm, easy smile that made her stomach flip. And then, as it always did, Renly’s gaze slid away and he busied himself prepping for promos or checking his phone. There would be another song after this, some cheesy pop track from Essos that they would roll their eyes over, and their shared moment would disappear in favour of the handful of callers waiting to tell Renly exactly why they were up at this time of the morning.
Brienne tapped her pencil on the desk as she waited for the switchboard to light up. When it did, she grabbed the phone and said, “Rise with Renly, can I take a name and number?”
“It’s Jaime. I think you’ve already got my number.”
Her fingers hesitated on the notepad in front of her. She swallowed, then, “Yes, I’ve–I’ve got your number.”
“Show seems quiet tonight. Not many callers?”
“Um—” Brienne glanced towards the booth, saw that Renly was otherwise occupied, but still swivelled her chair to hide her flushed cheeks from view. A silly thing to do: Renly was in no way her boyfriend, and it wasn’t as if Three Am Jaime was, either. But still, she hid. “It’s always quiet in the New Year. It picks up around Maiden’s Day, though.”
“I’d say that’s good, but it means I’ll have to fight to get through to you.”
Of course, Three Am Jaime didn’t mean her specifically. He meant the show, Rise with Renly. And even if he did – which he most certainly did not; no one called these shows to talk to the producer – Three Am Jaime was just a voice. A pleasant voice, true, but there was as much a pane of glass between her and Jaime as there was between her and Renly.
And yet: “I’ll always put you through. You have my word.”
“Good to know.”
The Arianne song had wound up, and the pop track from Essos was on its last verse. Brienne turned her chair around to face the glass, before putting Jaime on hold ready for him to talk to Renly. Despite working in radio since university, she’d begun to loathe this part; the switch-over. It felt as if Renly was taking something that was hers. But none of this was. Not the show, not the callers. Not Renly, and certainly not Three Am Jaime.
The pop song ended, and a despondent Brienne cued Renly in. “Welcome back, listeners. If you’ve just tuned in, this is Rise with Renly on Shipbreaker FM. We’re now taking a few of your calls, seeing what you’re up to this time of the morning. Brienne, who do we have first?”
She leaned into the microphone. “We have one of our regulars, Jaime from Storm’s End.”
Renly mouthed ‘again?’ but still took the call. “Nice to talk to you again, Jaime. What is it, the third day this week?”
“If you’ve got another caller, by all means.”
Dead air punctuated the booth. Eyes wide, Brienne waved at Renly to fill the empty space. Despite calling during every show, Three Am Jaime didn’t seem to like Renly very much. Brienne entertained the notion that Jaime called to hear her voice, but she brushed that away almost as soon as she’d thought it. He was probably up early to check in with the Braavos stockmarket, or because his third child with his beautiful wife was awake and needing feeding. He just needed something to listen to.
No need to imagine something that wasn’t there.
“We’re always happy to talk to you, Jaime. So, I know why Brienne and I are up this early. How about you?”
“Storm kept me awake. Not used to it.”
Renly chuckled. “What, this spit of rain, that little gust of wind? You’re not from the Stormlands, are you, Jaime?”
“No, I’m originally from the Westerlands. I moved here a few months ago.”
“What brought you east?”
“Frankly, Renly, that’s a little personal for this time of the morning.”
“Sure, sure.” Through the glass, Renly rolled his eyes, and Brienne pinned a thin smile to her features. She understood the appeal of anonymity to some radio callers, but others just didn’t feel comfortable sharing their lives on the airwaves. She got that. “So, have you got a song of the week, Jaime?”
“I liked Brienne’s choice.” She couldn’t hold back her smile this time. “Give me a Blackfish song any day of the week. Arianne’s not bad; she’s certainly better than your choice last week.”
Renly huffed. “I don’t want to drive listeners away, Jaime, but if you’re not a fan of the show—”
“—the first few episodes I heard were really good. Back when I first moved to Storm’s End, I couldn’t sleep, so I put on the radio and listened to the show. It was just after Crone’s Day.”
Brienne’s head snapped up. She remembered their show just after Crone’s Day: Renly had been taken ill on-air and, with no one else to cover, she’d hosted the show until Balon Swann had taken over from her at six am. That was the first night Jaime had called. She’d been distraught, barely keeping it together, and he was the only one who called not asking for an update about Renly. They talked about Tarth FC and Lannisport City for twenty minutes until she decided she really needed to play a song.
“Thank you for calling; you have no idea how much you’ve helped me tonight.”
“Funny. I was going to say thank you for picking up, for the exact same reason.”
“You’re a fan of Brienne’s then,” Renly said, one eyebrow raised as he stared at her through the glass.
“Who wouldn’t be?”
For once, when Brienne’s stomach fluttered as she looked into the booth, it wasn’t because of Renly Baratheon.

Ever since he found out there was a cure for vampirism, William started looking for it. He kept his radar on on anything that could involve it, and that night something popped up. He didn’t think twice before grabbing his bow and a gun and follow the lead. A few hours later and he was one step closer on finding the cure for his sister... and Aria if she ever wanted it one day. Or not. This could also end up on a dead end, and he was back on square one. But his gut told him he was close, specially when the guard protecting the place called his attention, and Will had no other option than to silence him. He didn’t want to hurt anyone, but he would if necessary. Carefully, he moved inside the room beign guarded, not really sure what to expect to find in it.

Elena looked at Damon and took his hand. This was official, they were at the doctor’s official, and Elena was having the first ultrasound scan, the first look of their baby and listen to their little heart. She took a deep breath, and smiled at him. “Are you excited to hear your baby for the first time, daddy?”, she smirked, her gaze playfully. They were alone in the waiting room, she was next and thankfully her morning sickness was gone for now. Even though she couldn’t see her baby bump yet, there were a few changes on her body already. There was the morning sickness of course, but she could tell her waist got a bit thicker and her breasts were more sensitive and they looked bigger. She wasn’t sure if Damon had noticed them too, they seemed small, but Elena could feel them all.

With her baby bump showing, Elena realized she needed a new wardrobe. With Jeremy in town, she stayed in Mystic Falls for as long as possible. So, she went to the local shops and tried to find anything suite for a first time mom/medical student. After leaving Aurora’s boutique, she was heading downtown when she felt an amazing scent on the air. Elena had no idea what exactly was it, but she knew she craved it badly. Following the scent, she found herself at the Grill’s staring at what looked like the most delicious muffins she had ever seen.

It was an underestimate to say that Will was devastated. Leaving Aria was one of the most difficult thing he had to do in his whole life. He watched while Evienne walked into the house, and only then he left. His grip on the whell was so hard the knuckles on his hand were white. He swallowed up all the anger and sadness he was feeling, because it wasn’t over yet. He promised her he’d bury her with her parents and sister back in New Orleans. He would still have to endure a few more hours of this pain. He tried to sleep, but the worry kept him up... He barely ate, the food tasted very bitter and hard to swallow. He then decided to go training at the room on the back of his house. It was the best way he found to kill the time, and somehow a great exercise to work with his anger while he was able to punch something.

Elena was excited, and nervous and scared... All the same time. She was at the waiting room at the obstetrician office. After her talk with Damon, Elena realized how unprepared she was. She needed to start the prenatal as soon as possible, and she also had to take the vitamins, and probably get on a new and better diet. Hopefully, the doctor would clear all of her doubts, and she’d feel less nervous about the whole process. Something the first time parenting folder she was reading wasn’t doing much at the moment, as she felt a little more nervous as she thought on how not ready she was.

Elena was alone at the Grill. The past few weeks had been peaceful, and now that she knew she was pregnant, surprisingly the world hadn’t fallen upon them yet. There was no Augustines, no hybrids or Klaus chasing her. She was sitting having tea, allowed for future mamas, and studying for the next semester at college. Life was genuinely good, and Elena dared to think that everything would finally turn out to be fine, and their happy life was closer than ever now.
