Meanwhile on the other side of the table, Chloe was getting dangerously close to the bowl of mashed potatoes. Zak was away from the bowl getting other things ready for dinner when Chloe’s fingers finally got a hold of the bowl. She reached in with her whole hand and came out with a tiny fistful of freshly mashed potatoes. She looked at everyone gathered around the table. She scanned until she decided on a victim. Zak. She aimed for the back of his head, tongue sticking out, and fired.

  SPLOOSH!

“HEY!” Zak shouted. Chloe giggled immediately, but soon covered her mouth. Aaron noticed this and giggled with his youngest niece. As Zak turned around to see who could have done the evil deed, he spotted Aaron snickering. “Aaron, what the heck was that for?”

Aaron stopped laughing and looked at Zak. “It wasn’t me, bro. It was…,” he looked to Chloe and she had her index finger on her lips as if to say,  “shhhhh, keep it a secret,” so instead, he said, “Sorry, bro,” he smirked at Zak. Zak simply rolled his eyes and went back to gathering the plates and utensils for the table; Aaron turned to Chloe, leaning in close, “You’re lucky you’re cute.”

      Nick takes a step forward, “Don’t you feel it, Zak?” he is ignoring Zak’s question and that makes Zak wonder why. Does he desire Zak deeply?

      As he says the next words, Zak’s heart shatters and it surprises him, “I feel nothing,” Nick freezes before him, looking like a deer in love lights. Every word that Zak says, sends a spear through his own heart, but his brain is set in his thinking. He ignores his heart. He ignores his soul screaming in his chest, “We are nothing more than friends. It will always be that way, Nick.”

The door to the upstairs bathroom is now closed and locked. 

“Zak!” Nick screams. He beats on the door and gets no response. He’s about to kick the door down when he hears a glass bottle shatter inside. He backs up and kicks the door right next to the handle, sending it swinging. Zak’s sitting in the bathtub with a shard of glass in his shaking hand, sobbing. His palm is bleeding.

Nick rushes him, taking the glass from Zak and tossing it aside. “Zak, please look at me!” Nick yells, cupping Zak’s face in his hands. Zak is sobbing harder now. He grabs Nick’s arm with his bleeding hand and looks at him, tears in his eyes. “You need to stop, okay? Please.” Zak nods. “Let me see your hand.” Zak lazily gives Nick his bloodied hand. Upon inspection, Nick decides to take Zak to the hospital. The cut is deep. 

But the guilt in Nick is deeper.

Did a little bit of sleuthing because it's 2am and I've got nothing better to do and found out that Veronique deleted all of her tweets to Zak about Nick right after he left the show (and all of her tweets in general). She also unfollowed Nick and he unfollowed her. Her last name is still Groff on there, for some reason, though.

She will probably keep last name for the kids?
