Brazilian Veronica headcanons because I said so:

•Her dad is from Brazil and then moved to the US with his family when he was a teen but he still passes down the customs to his daughter

•He was born in Rio and her grandparents were from Minas Gerais (because that's where everyone's grandparents come from!)

•She's very casual about football unless it's the world cup or something, then she goes crazy, I'm talking green and blue face paint, yellow shirt, stadium horn and lots of curse words and screams.

•When she's really pissed, she prefers to swear in portuguese because she feels like the english curse words just aren't strong enough to convey her anger.

•She has a huge extended family, and she's close to all of them. They're all very loud and euphoric, and she can't help but act like that when she's around them because their cheerfulness is contagious.

•She invites the heathers to her birthday one time and they agree thinking it's going to be just them and Veronica's parents, but once they get there they're shocked to see over 30 people. Veronica is all like "oh and that's not even half of my family"

•She likes mpb music and brazilian rock music, especially the oldies like Chico Buarque, Elis Regina, Legião Urbana and Paralamas do Sucesso.

•Lots of hand gestures

• During summer she has the very "carioca" way of wearing flips flops literally everywhere.

Jashtober Warmups

Bunch of (13) jash fanart with descriptions. Transferring them over from twitter because No. Sorry for not being active here for literally more than a year.

Day 1, Cosmic. Loosely based on the lines "and when Harmonia shines, atlas beholds her". Had a lot of fun with the warm colors and stuff, and Mr Jash reposted it! Which was both exciting, and just about gave me a heart attack.

Day 2, Videogame. Based on the shot with the ds in the Forest For the Trees. Mr Jash reposted this one too, which jumpscared me once again.

Day 3, Folklore. Went through like three separate drafts of this before settling on some kind of cryptid lookin fella. HSH's dlc came out on this day too, so I was really screwed for time.

Day 4, Hindsight. Not too much to note, except Eyes. Staring mf

Day 5, Instrument. First drawing I ever made based on the Ship of Theseus album, actually! Based on the second part, because.. Lyre.

Day 6, 20XX Inspired. Buff man, feat. me attempting to draw muscles. Must have not done too bad of a job, since Mr Jash liked it (third heart attack of the project /pos)

Day 7, Jashlings. This one was a bit rushed. When I heard "jashlings" I immediately thought of HMS, so I drew those three.

Day 8, Outfit Design. Soul wears the monster energy merch while Mind watches on in horror. Mr Jash liked this one as well, so that means this is canon now /j (Side note: this was entirely unintentional, but I had multiple people across different platforms tell me Mind looked like Veronica Sawyer from Heathers. And... yeah, I see it.)

Day nine, Duality. Should've titled it Feathers. Dear god, so many feathers. Also, yin and yang - ish.

Day ten, Compromise. Based on the hc that Jekyll and Hyde draw up a custody agreement for who controls the body when. Also, their eyes are the other one's primary color because I say so and it's cool theming.

Day 11, GW/Literature inspired. Carmilla, that scintillating sinner!

Day 12, Power Hour. Worked on this one for two days longer than I meant to, but it came out pretty damn nice imo. And it got Jash reposted, so I was extra going insane.

Day 13, Reinvention/self sacrifice. Did this one a few days late. The color pallette for the sixth Ship of Theseus album cover is so fucking pretty. Didn't do it justice, but I tried.

And that's it! All 13 (yes, I didn't do the "14: free space" one, ran out of time) Jashtober warmups. I'm going to be working on posting all the Jashtober prompts I've done so far in another post like this, then I'll just start posting one per day from then on. Ok get ready for the longest info dump you may ever experience... Tldr at the end (I'm going for the musical version because that's more my fandom than the movie lol)

September 1st, 1989,

Dear diary...

Veronica Sawyer is about to start her senior year at high school and... Her school isn't the kindest. The social state is turmoil, with nerds like her and her best friend - Martha who is viciously bullied - end up getting beaten up by the egotistical, shockingly unintelligent jocks, such as Kurt and Ram.

By now, Veronica's used to this shit. It's her senior year, she only has to survive till the end of the year and then? She's out, to any ivy league she can reach. But Veronica's plans are flipped upside down, inside down and turned around when the heathers - the most popular girls in school who are revered as if they are gods - invite Veronica into their group.

Heather Mcnamara - her dad is loaded, he sells engagement rings

Heather Duke - runs the year book. No discernable personality, but her mom did pay for implants

Heather Chandler - the almighty. She... Is a mythic bitch

Sidenote - although it technically isn't canon (except for Veronica she's canonically bi) almost everyone is pretty queer. My HCs: heather chandler is lesbian, heather Mcnamara is pan and demi sexual, heather duke is lesbian and ace, JD (who you'll meet) is bisexual, Kurt (who you'll meet) is bisexual

So fast forward 3 weeks, and Veronica's life is suddenly... Great. She's got cool friends, is popular and she's even going to her first party tonight. She's sure today is going to be good. Until heather asks her to forge a note to Martha (her best friend "since diapers") from ram who's Martha's long time crush. After a lot of convincing, Veronica agrees because she's popular now, she needs to act it even if the guilt eats her up from the inside

After this she meets a new mysterious murderer boy who tells her off for siding with the "swatchdogs and diet coke heads" and Veronica is... Pretty into him. Then he ends up fighting with the 2 popular jocks Kurt and Ram (in which Veronica sings this cute lil lovey lovey song about how hot he is)

Then on the way to the party, she meets mystery boy again who is called JD! He basically trauma dumps on her but she's into it sort of? I question Veronicas taste often.

Anyways, fast forward to the party. Veronica is having a great time, until Martha arrives, believing she's (m) been invited by ram, and basically she gets hugely embarrassed.

Also a bunch of stuff happens and heather chandler (mythic bitch) tells Veronica that she is over and kicks her out of the group

Then we have some accidental murders <3

(that's all I'm saying so I don't spoil the suprise)

Tldr: girl becomes popular, crushes on this mystery kid, girl gets kicked out of being popular, accidentally kills 3 people, stops school from going kaboom

What do you think makes Veronica a vriska? To me she reads more like the Terezi

hi and thanks for the ask!! i definitely agree that there are aspects of terezis character in her as well.

i also get where the people who are confused she even made it onto the bracket are coming from; veronica does in fact lack many of the traits associated with Vriskas (e.g. she has a stable home life and no parental issues, and both of her arms and eyes) BUT i think veronica’s vriska-coding is more on a thematic layer as opposed to a superficial one.

that being said, here’s a bullet pointed list of my argument for why veronica sawyer is in fact a vriska

her relationships. nearly all of her relationships with other female characters have homoerotic undertones to some extent, and one female friend specifically with whom she has a particularly turbulent, emotionally complex best friend/worst enemyship. as you mentioned, though, arguably veronica does fulfill more of a terezi role in her dynamic with h. chandler. there is one thing tz and hc have in common: their favorite color >:] on the other hand, veronica’s relationship with JD has aspects of vriska’s relationship with both eridan and doc scratch. jd emulates eridan in his murderous tendencies and fascination with genocide, and doc scratch in the way he uses veronica for his own ends and manipulates her effortlessly with his charm and wit.

some people say that veronica cannot be a vriska by nature of her role as the protagonist and audience surrogate. i think that when we are introduced to her, we are definitely expected to sympathize with her and root for her, but we continue to root for her throughout the movie even as she does worse and worse things. i think, contrary to the first line in the musical (which, side note, i do not interpret as Canon™️), veronica is not a good person. like vriska, she thinks she is! and she tries to be! she WANTS to be a good person and tries to believe her actions are justified and right to assuage her own guilt. veronica may not inspire discourse on the same level as vriska, but doubtlessly she is a contentious character.
