He smiled as he watched her before downing his own drink. "I don't know about that, but thank you." He sad as he put the glass back down and continued just looking at her like she was the only one in the bar. Once both shots were done and they had cheered to change, she brought up the fireworks and he grinned. "Yeah. Let's go." He waited for her to get the bag before leading them through the crowd and out into the crisp air. "Where you wanna go? We can maybe get a bit closer if we push through the people." @veritywagner
Verity laughed a little at his comment in regards to her cooking, “That, my friend—“ She stated, reaching for her drink as she went to bring it closer to her lips, “Is because you are an amazing teacher.” She took a sip and placed the glass back down. Verity would be lying if she said she wasn’t looking forward to trying his food at the restaurant. It had been a while since the two had hung out, mainly because she had thrown herself back into working a lot again after the incident she had had after a brief hook up. It had kind of led her to want to start living and doing life differently in the coming year in some ways. Hopefully she’d be able to do it. Smiling again, she reached for the shot. “To change.” She agreed, before knocking back the burning liquid. The alcohol was definitely starting to hit, despite her decent tolerance for it. “I think the fireworks should start soon. Would you like to go outside and grab a decent spot to watch them together?” She asked as she reached for her bag.

closed starter for @veritywagner location: an empty parking lot
"Alright. You ready for this?" Eddie asked as he looked over at Verity in the driver's seat. He had promised her a while back that he'd help teach her drive and now they finally had time to do so and they were in an empty parking lot so they could do this safely. He buckled up and he smiled over at her as he relaxed in the car. "You'll just turn the key and turn it on before braking and going into drive, okay?"

closed event starter for @veritywagner location: Founder's Square made with the beta editor
Nicole had finished her hours at the Ring Toss and decided to walk through the square to look at everything. She was trying to keep positive with everything going on and part of her just wanted to go home, but she wanted to be there. She wanted to keep her mind off things and she figured staying at the celebration was the best option. She was passing another booth when she saw Verity and she smiled. "Verity." She said and moved towards her friend, wrapping her in a hug. She hadn't realized she was back from her trip yet, but was thankful to see her. "I didn't know you were back." She said as she moved back. "How was it?"

Derek skated over to Verity in a pretty relaxed manor for that of a professional hockey player. But he knew how to turn that on and off and he wasn’t even sure if the outdoor rink Arctic Skate had set up was allowing sticks. They were however, allowing hot chocolate so he figured as he waited for Verity to get situated he’d buy them a couple. He leaned over the bench once he reached where she was lacing up her skates, “You ready?” He asked, handing a cup her way.

- mentirosa, demasiado autoexigente, insegura.
datos curiosos.

"Perfect." He said before looking at her and chuckling. "Maybe a little above that, but don't worry, I got you." He assured her. He was there to help and there was no way he'd serve the new parents anything too bad. Plus, he'd teach Verity something. He hoped. After getting what he needed, he moved to wash his hands and looked over at Verity. "Don't worry. You're not going to ruin a thing. I promise." He dried his hands and grabbed his cutting board. "So, first we'll do the soup so we're gonna cut up some broccoli." @veritywagner
Verity just nodded along, because to her everything food related was intimidating. It was another reason having Eddie in her life was a blessing, as he seemed passionate about it and that he didn’t mind helping her out. “Oh that actually sounds fantastic!” She said, “Is that easy to make? Like on a scale from Verity-skill-level to easy, where would it be exactly?” She chuckled softly. Once his hands placed at her sides, her hues glanced down to look at them before looking up at him as she swallowed slightly, stepping a little to the side to give him space to get all the things out. It was just something about the gentleness to his touch that had this feeling of overwhelming safeness she wasn't used to. Stepping forward she nodded, "I am, and with your guidance I will do my best to not burn your house to the ground or ruin any of your equipment."

She held her as close as possible and rubbed her back as she cried; making sure her own tears didn't come out as sobs. Her heart was just breaking for Verity. As she pulled back, she looked into her eyes and moved hair behind her friend's ear. "Of course. I'm always going to be here for you, okay?" She said and wiped Verity's cheeks. "What do you need? Food? I can go pick up some and bring drinks if you need them and some movies? We can sit in here all day with just something on and I'll stay with you." @veritywagner
Verity had been doing a somewhat of a decent job at keeping all of her emotions in check, only really having cried for the first dew days; feeling kind of numb the rest. Though the second Nicole had pulled her in for a hug, she had buried her head against her neck and been unable to hold back the loud sob it felt like she’d been holding forever. The tears wouldn’t stop as they kept streaming down her face. When she eventually pulled back, she looked up at her friend. “Thank you for coming over..”

He shrugged and smiled at her. "I guess I have, but nothing I couldn't handle." He never saw it as something he felt he needed to handle. He just found a way to support her and be there for her and it seemed to help. "Hey, you've been doing great when I'm teaching you, so I don't think you ever lose it then." Eddie reassured her. A chuckle escaped his lips as she said he'd have to mess up for him to find out if she'd tell him that and he nodded. "I'll try." He teased back before listening to her talk about what she was hoping to come in 2024. As she did, he ordered them another shot and watched her while the bartender filled it up. He gave hers to her and smiled happily. "To change then." He said and lifted his shot, ready to toast to that for her. @veritywagner
Something about the way he reacted had her lips remain steadily shaped into the teasing grin that she had displayed moments before. She noticed the slight change of color to his cheeks, but she decided not to read into it too much. At his response, she just nodded slowly. "Yeah.. I guess that is true." She admitted, "Though you have had the honor of witnessing some of my worse moments.. I don't think I've ever been close to loosing it with you, and that is even when I am trying to cook." She chuckled softly. Verity didn't know how to describe it, but things were just different with Eddie. It was probably why he had become such a good friend; one she trusted completely, and Verity rarely trusted anybody. A laugh left her lips, "I guess you're just going to have to mess up and see for yourself." She teased him with a wink, before she went to move a string of hair from her face. At his question, she pondered. "A change." She stated, "I don't know.. I feel like I have been stuck in the same rut forever now, repeating the same mistakes over and over, not really getting anywhere.." She shrugged. "I hope the coming year will change that for me."

He blushed a little more and he swallowed. "I... I... I don't know." He rubbed the back of his neck. What was he supposed to say? He never imagined he'd have to tell her how he thought he could get her calm. He was just hoping now that his blushing was just looking like being overheated with the amount of people in there or something. "I... I guess I just never seen you get worked up. So if you were about to around me, you never gotten too far. I guess something I do must be working, right?" He asked, but wasn't sure if maybe he was reading into it all and was an idiot for saying anything in the first place. "Yeah, but you'd tell me if I completely messed up on something, wouldn't you?" He asked and smiled after he put his glass down. "I don't know. I guess just continuing working on my career. What about you? What are you hoping for?" @veritywagner
Verity was unable not to smile at his response, glancing back over at him. “Oh yeah?” She raised a brow at him, “And what might that be exactly?” She challenged slightly, because as far as she was concerned nobody had her figured out, nor knew how to make her calm. Joke was kind of on her though considering he seemed to be able to do just that. She chuckled before giving him a slight flirtatious push. “If you want brutal I might not be the right person for it. I love your cooking.” She stated almost reassuringly. After having knocked back her shot, she placed the glass back down onto the bar. “What are you hoping for in this coming year?” She asked him genuinely curious.

He gave her a look. "I never have to deal with you. Besides, I like to think I know what makes you calm." He said with a grin, but there was a slight blush on his cheeks as he spoke too. He never thought of it as him having to handle her or anything. Verity was one of his favorite people and he'd do anything with her. He was happy to see her excited for him. It made the news that much better and Eddie couldn't wait to share this moment with her. "Hopefully it's not too brutal." He said with a laugh. "Yeah. Of course." He grinned and he took a shot from her before raising the shot glass. "Happy New Year, Ver!" @veritywagner
Contemplating his offer, she eventually shrugged. “I mean, sure.” She smiled. “I reckon out of everyone I know, you might have the patience to deal with whenever I might get frustrated.” She pointed out with a chuckle. She knew she could be a handful, but Eddie had not been scared away just yet, and he had seen her in some if her absolute worst, if not worst, moments. “It is! I’m so happy for you!” She told him, “And yeah, of course.. How else am I going to give you my honest feedback?” She chuckled softly, though it was probably already safe to say she’d be gushing over how amazing it was all night, which really wouldn’t be anything new when it came to his cooking. Verity smiled when he mentioned he’d do anything for her. “Same goes for you, you know?” She told him, hoping he already knew that. That is what friends were for, right? Pulling out her card, she went to pay for the shots after they had been poured. “Happy New Year, Eddie!” She said while handing him the one shot.

Eddie gave a small chuckle before nodding. "I can show you sometime, you want? My cousin and I have been teaching his son and I'll gladly teach you. If you're interested." He offered up to her. He'd always do anything for Verity, no matter what it was. He shrugged as she called him amazing and rubbed the back of his neck. "I guess. It's exciting though." He smiled at her and nodded. "Yeah. I'll join you, if you want." He felt like she could invite anyone she wanted, so he didn't want to intrude if there was anyone else she wanted to bring instead. Hearing her deal, he nodded. "You don't have to do that. I'm happy to do anything for you, but okay." He smiled. "I can't say no to you." @veritywagner
Verity nodded along as he elaborated on his latest adventures. “Sounds like you have been keeping busy then!” She smiled. “I don’t think I’ve even been snowboarding. Tried skiing once though, but ended up taking my skiis off mid way and walk down because I kept falling over.” She laughed at the memory. “Oh Eddie!” She added happily, “That is amazing! Not that I am surprised, you are very talented.” He had done a great job at feeding her in a number of occasions. “I’d love too, but only if you join me.” The DeLyle was not a place she had yet had the pleasure of visiting. Mainly because of it’s prices, but also because she would naturally feel very out if place eating by herself. At his question, she shrugged. “I’m okay.” She told him, which wasn’t a lie. Better than she had been, much thanks to him and her other friends. The alcohol also helped. “You sure?” She asked, eyeing the bartender before ordering herself a mojito and tequila shot herself. “Let me at least get the shots? It is the least I can do after everything you have done for me this year..” Shooting him an innocent smile in a attempt to plead. “Please?”.

She smiled and nodded. "Pizza it is." She pulled out her phone and started ordering what they usually got during the pizza nights over the years. "Gilmore Girls is the perfect thing I think. We've seen it a thousand time and can just relax." Nicole finished the order and looked at Verity. "Alright. Should be here in about a forty minutes so we should be able to get through the first episode of the show." @veritywagner
Verity gave her friends hands a small squeeze before nodding, “Okay, no food then.” She said, though after giving it some thought she added, “Actually, I wouldn’t mind a pizza or something..” It was her favourite and the only thing that came to mind at the moment. At the question, Verity shrugged. “Should we rewatch Gilmore girls or something like that? I am in the mood for something light I think that doesn’t require too much thinking or emotional investment.” @nicolepeterson

He nodded as Verity gave her opinion and started pulling things from his cupboards. "Perfect. Easy and quick to just throw in. Maybe cheese and broccoli soup? Can never go wrong with that." He said and moved to the fridge and putting stuff out on the counter. "Okay..." He said more to himself and touched her sides gently as he moved by her to get the baking tin and pan he needed. Eddie's hands grazed there for a moment while he looked, not even noticing, and left her side when he moved back. "So, ready to be my sous chef?" @veritywagner
Unable to hold back a smile, Verity nodded along as he began listing off suggestions as to what they could try to make. Following along, she leaned herself up against his kitchen counter, watching him scan his kitchen for ingredients. Compared to her own, his selection was much more impressive, but maybe that just came with being a chef. "The easier the better I think." She imagined they'd have their hands full at the moment. She chuckled softly, before shrugging, "How about we maybe do either the pasta bake or the lasagna?" She suggested, "And make them a batch of soup or something to freeze?"

She stepped in further and closed the door. She saw the look on her face and she carefully put the bag down and sat on the bed while she watched her friend breathe and struggle to say what she was trying to get out. "Hey, it's okay." She said and reached out to touch her hand, but stopped as the words came out. Verity didn't need to finish. Nicole understood and she quickly wrapped her arms around her best friend. "Oh, Ver." She said and rubbed her back, closing her eyes as her own tears started coming and she kissed the side of her friend's head as she held her. @veritywagner
Verity sat up in her bed the moment she saw Nicole's face, eyes already swelling up before she went to swallow the lump that appeared in her throat. She just shook her head in response, before taking a couple of deep breaths. "No.. you um.. You didn't wake me.." She admitted, looking at her before biting her lips together. "Sorry I didn't call you back..." She added, voice breaking slightly, "I um.. There was no.. The baby it's.." Shaking her head, Verity felt tears beginning to stream down her face.

Nicole nodded and just held her friend's cheeks for a moment before moving and holding her hands. "Okay. And no, I'm fine." She assured her with a smile. She wasn't wrong, she was always feeling like she was craving something, but she would be fine. "Okay. What do you want to watch? We can watch whatever you want." @veritywagner
Verity was glad her friend hadn't needed for her to finish the sentence in order to understand where she had been headed with it. She couldn't quite bring herself to finish it. But she was glad she had decided to check up on her. She had kind of hoped she would, despite what she had going on herself at the moment. "I know.." She smiled weakly, letting her friend wipe away tears, before sniffling as she pulled the sleeves on her jumper down. "I'm not really hungry.." She said, though uncertain the last time she actually ate. "Unless you are hungry.. You probably are all the time at this point." She smiled weakly at her friend, "But I wouldn't mind watching a movie or something."
