closed starter for @veritywagner location: an empty parking lot
"Alright. You ready for this?" Eddie asked as he looked over at Verity in the driver's seat. He had promised her a while back that he'd help teach her drive and now they finally had time to do so and they were in an empty parking lot so they could do this safely. He buckled up and he smiled over at her as he relaxed in the car. "You'll just turn the key and turn it on before braking and going into drive, okay?"

closed event starter for @veritywagner location: Founder's Square made with the beta editor
Nicole had finished her hours at the Ring Toss and decided to walk through the square to look at everything. She was trying to keep positive with everything going on and part of her just wanted to go home, but she wanted to be there. She wanted to keep her mind off things and she figured staying at the celebration was the best option. She was passing another booth when she saw Verity and she smiled. "Verity." She said and moved towards her friend, wrapping her in a hug. She hadn't realized she was back from her trip yet, but was thankful to see her. "I didn't know you were back." She said as she moved back. "How was it?"

He smiled as he watched her before downing his own drink. "I don't know about that, but thank you." He sad as he put the glass back down and continued just looking at her like she was the only one in the bar. Once both shots were done and they had cheered to change, she brought up the fireworks and he grinned. "Yeah. Let's go." He waited for her to get the bag before leading them through the crowd and out into the crisp air. "Where you wanna go? We can maybe get a bit closer if we push through the people." @veritywagner
Verity laughed a little at his comment in regards to her cooking, “That, my friend—“ She stated, reaching for her drink as she went to bring it closer to her lips, “Is because you are an amazing teacher.” She took a sip and placed the glass back down. Verity would be lying if she said she wasn’t looking forward to trying his food at the restaurant. It had been a while since the two had hung out, mainly because she had thrown herself back into working a lot again after the incident she had had after a brief hook up. It had kind of led her to want to start living and doing life differently in the coming year in some ways. Hopefully she’d be able to do it. Smiling again, she reached for the shot. “To change.” She agreed, before knocking back the burning liquid. The alcohol was definitely starting to hit, despite her decent tolerance for it. “I think the fireworks should start soon. Would you like to go outside and grab a decent spot to watch them together?” She asked as she reached for her bag.

Derek skated over to Verity in a pretty relaxed manor for that of a professional hockey player. But he knew how to turn that on and off and he wasn’t even sure if the outdoor rink Arctic Skate had set up was allowing sticks. They were however, allowing hot chocolate so he figured as he waited for Verity to get situated he’d buy them a couple. He leaned over the bench once he reached where she was lacing up her skates, “You ready?” He asked, handing a cup her way.

+ independiente, meticulosa, perceptiva.
- mentirosa, demasiado autoexigente, insegura.
datos curiosos.

"Perfect." He said before looking at her and chuckling. "Maybe a little above that, but don't worry, I got you." He assured her. He was there to help and there was no way he'd serve the new parents anything too bad. Plus, he'd teach Verity something. He hoped. After getting what he needed, he moved to wash his hands and looked over at Verity. "Don't worry. You're not going to ruin a thing. I promise." He dried his hands and grabbed his cutting board. "So, first we'll do the soup so we're gonna cut up some broccoli." @veritywagner
Verity just nodded along, because to her everything food related was intimidating. It was another reason having Eddie in her life was a blessing, as he seemed passionate about it and that he didn’t mind helping her out. “Oh that actually sounds fantastic!” She said, “Is that easy to make? Like on a scale from Verity-skill-level to easy, where would it be exactly?” She chuckled softly. Once his hands placed at her sides, her hues glanced down to look at them before looking up at him as she swallowed slightly, stepping a little to the side to give him space to get all the things out. It was just something about the gentleness to his touch that had this feeling of overwhelming safeness she wasn't used to. Stepping forward she nodded, "I am, and with your guidance I will do my best to not burn your house to the ground or ruin any of your equipment."

She held her as close as possible and rubbed her back as she cried; making sure her own tears didn't come out as sobs. Her heart was just breaking for Verity. As she pulled back, she looked into her eyes and moved hair behind her friend's ear. "Of course. I'm always going to be here for you, okay?" She said and wiped Verity's cheeks. "What do you need? Food? I can go pick up some and bring drinks if you need them and some movies? We can sit in here all day with just something on and I'll stay with you." @veritywagner
Verity had been doing a somewhat of a decent job at keeping all of her emotions in check, only really having cried for the first dew days; feeling kind of numb the rest. Though the second Nicole had pulled her in for a hug, she had buried her head against her neck and been unable to hold back the loud sob it felt like she’d been holding forever. The tears wouldn’t stop as they kept streaming down her face. When she eventually pulled back, she looked up at her friend. “Thank you for coming over..”

He laughed, but she wasn't wrong. He always gave in to her, not that they ever argued often or anything. He just could never say no to Verity. He looked out the window as she continued driving and he nodded over at her. "Yeah, that sounds great. You wanna drive there?" He asked, wiggling his eyebrows a bit to try to make it look appealing to her and to see now where her comfort level was. @veritywagner
Verity chuckled at his defeat, “Good!” She smirked teasingly at him. “I figured you'd know better by now than to try pick a fight with me. I usually win." She half joked with him, because if anyone knew how stubborn she could be, Eddie was one of them. As she continued to drive around the parking lot a little, she thought about what she might want. "I wouldn't be mad at some Italian?" She suggested, "I am actually kind of craving a margarita pizza right now." She added, "Does that work for you?" @eddiexcastro

Eddie definitely didn't mind that Verity and Roscoe were cuddle buddies. It was nice, honestly, that she and his dog got along. It was important to him. As she insisted that she was going to get them lunch, he put his hands up. "Okay, okay. You can pay for lunch." He knew full well he'd probably pay for something for them in the future so this was fine. He just wanted to celebrate her. "Whatever you want to get, though." @veritywagner
Verity smiled slightly and nodded, “He really is.” She said, knowing it was probably a bad habit, but glad Eddie didn’t seem to mind. It was the only company she kept these days. Verity moved her eyes back onto the road, only looking back when Eddie spoke before shaking her head at his response. “No!” She insisted, “You are taking up your time to help me try do this. It is only fair I am the one to treat you to lunch.” She told him, as if there was no arguing about it. @eddiexcastro

He opened his mouth to talk, wanting to say that he could be her cuddle buddy, but his mind stopped him and he just nodded. "He's good at that." He smiled and looked around them for a moment. The parking lot was still empty and she had all the freedom to driver wherever she wanted. Eddie's eyes went back over to Verity and he shook his head. "What? No. I should buy you lunch for celebrating your first day driving." @veritywagner
Verity laughed, “Oh yeah, I need my cuddle buddy if we were to live here for sure.” She joked with a smile lingering on her lips. She’d looked over at him while he continued to compliment her, feeling a slight tingle in her cheeks from blushing. Verity had never been one to take compliments to heart, always brushed them off immediately, but Eddie kept showering her in them it was hard to not let some of them slip through her cracks. “Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.” She shifted the car back into drive, before putting her foot down onto the pedal. “After this, I’m buying you lunch though.” @eddiexcastro

He laughed a little. "I may need to go get Roscoe, but if we need to, it won't be so bad." Eddie teased her a little. He watched as she did what he said and she was able to park into one of the spaces behind them. "You're doing great, Ver. Honestly." He smirked at her. "You should just drive around a little bit in the parking lot. Get a feel of driving." @veritywagner
Verity was just going to have to take his word for it, that it would get easier. Right now, it didn’t feel like it though, and she was only driving around in a parking lot. “Gosh I hope it doesn’t come to that.” She chuckled softly, readjusting her grip slightly, before eyes went back on the road. “Right—“ She did as he instructed and managed to get the car moving, head turned as she slowly started reversing into one of the empty spots. She realised she missed the line and moved to adjust, before looking over at Eddie. “Well, at least we know I can park somewhat..” She chuckled before pushing some hair out of her face. @eddiexcastro

He laughed a little. "I know. One day it will be easier, I promise." Eddie reassured her. "Well, we have all the time. We can live in this parking lot if we need to." He smiled over at her; his eyes linger for a moment before he looked out the window again. "Yeah. Just slow." He nodded and watched as she moved into a parking space. "Look at you go!" He chuckled. "You're amazing." He watched her shift into reverse and creased his eyebrows. "Try shifting into park and try to move it again. Sometimes it gets stuck." @veritywagner
Verity smiled slightly at him while he continued to encourage her. “I know. It is just looks a lot easier than it is.” She shrugged, though she hadn’t really thought much about it until recently when she got her permit what it was like to drive, never having taken any interest before now. “Okay, maybe.” She nodded, “I don’t know if I will be road ready today though, despite how good a teacher you are.” She chuckled while holding her gaze on him for a moment longer than intended, before she cleared her throat and regripped the wheel. “Alright.. Looks easy enough.” She said before slowly pressing her foot back on the pedal and moving directly into the parking space ahead. “Okay, that wasn’t too hard!” She smiled. “Now to reverse..” Placing the gear stick into R, she slowly started to back out of the parking space, before trying to adjust the wheel so she got into the correct angle to reverse into a new one, but to no avail. @eddiexcastro

Eddie watched her and he shook her head. "It's okay. You didn't hurt anything." He assured her before shaking his head at her. "You're not doing bad. You're learning. It's okay." He told her again, not wanting her to hate driving after her first time. "It's not. And if you want, I can drive us out to where the vineyards are. There's usually no traffic that way." He smiled before pointing to a stop. "So, just park in that one ahead of us first. After that, I'll have you reverse. But let's do more forward work." @veritywagner
Verity felt her body heat up when he told her he believed in her. A boost of confidence, though it didn’t last too long as she watch him catch himself against the dash. “Sorry!” She told him, moving her hands to cover her face slightly. Thinking about his suggestion for a moment, she shrugged, “I mean, sure.” She told him, “Might as well.. Can’t get any worse I guess.” She attempted to chuckle before looking back at him. “Traffic isn’t bad around now, is it?” She asked, hoping she wouldn’t get into an accident or anything like it. @eddiexcastro

"I believe in you. You're gonna do great." He said and watched her as she did what he had told her. As she started moving, he grinned and nodded. "Yeah! Look at you go, Ver!" He said before she stopped hard and he put his arm out on the dash to catch him. "It's okay. Just a little slower next time." Eddie told her. "Do you wanna try parking or reversing? Or drive around a little more? We'll get all that done and then head out on the road if you're feeling good." @veritywagner
Verity was sure she was making it into being a bigger deal in her head than it actually was, but she had been putting this off for years, relying on public transport or her feet to get about. “Good, at least should I mess up, you’re covered.” She chuckled softly before looking back at him, unable not to smile softly. “Okay—“ She had nodded, before turning her attention back to the open space ahead, arm moving the gearstick into drive before pushing her foot softly onto the gas, making the vehicle move. After having made a few rounds around the parking lot, she put her foot on the break and stopped the car, though it was a lot harder than she had intended so she was quick to shoot Eddie an apologetic smile, “Ops..”

He smiled over at her. "You got this, okay? It's an empty parking lot and we have all the time in the world. Take your time." He said before nodding; chuckling a little. "Yeah. It's insured. Everything's taken care off." He reassured her. "Just go into drive and you can slowly press the gas." He said and kept his eyes on her. @veritywagner
Verity gripped onto the steering wheel of the car, looking over at Eddie before she forced a nod of her head. It had been a while since she'd asked Eddie if he could help teach her how to drive. It had taken her a while to get all the paper work sorted, honestly putting it off, because it scared her a little. Which was why she'd decided to ask him for help, because he always managed to bring her comfort. "I think so." She said, "I guess we'll find out." She added, before following his instructions and turning over the key with her foot on the break. "It is insured, right?" @eddiexcastro
