My boyfriend's and my own Bakugan! We both used to have a lot more but unfortunately lost them in moves.

I’m a little shy about this but… I believe I am a POSIC beholder. And my Bakugan are my hoarde. I don’t really have a name for them just yet so… I’ll just call them the Bakugan Hoarde! Below the read more is pics of them, their names, pronouns, and what type of Bakugan they are!

This is Percy! He’s a Ventus Percival. He uses he/him and is the oldest of my Percival trio! I just got him yesterday, same with Midnight, and reunited him with Alpha. I’m starting to consider him my current main companion! He’s very talkative and cheerful, especially after being reunited with Alpha.

This is Midnight, the Darkus Midnight Percival! I found him alongside Percy yesterday and he also uses he/him. He’s a bit more broody compared to his elder brother, but is also relieved that they’re now back with Alpha.

Then there’s Alpha, the Alpha Percival! I’ve had him for about a year now. He uses he/they interchangeably. He’s the youngest Percival sibling and used to be fairly quiet, but has become chipper now that he has his brothers back!

These two are twins, Shredder (Left) and Fawful (Right). They’re Darkus and Ventus Fear Rippers! Shredder uses they/he/vam and Fawful uses he/him. I’ve had them for a loooong time and they used to be my main companions, especially Fawful. Shredder likes a lot of emocore like stuff and Fawful is more laid back and relaxed, enjoying listening to lofi music with me!

These two are also twins! They are Daydream (Left) and Nightmare (Right). They’re Haos and Darkus Wormquakes! They both use they/them and have gruff voices. They tend to speak together and at the same time!

And this one is Diavolo the Darkus Diablo Preyas. He just uses he/him! He acts a lot like the Preyas seen in Bakugan Battle Brawlers and is sarcastic, but joking and silly!

This here is Twister, the Haos Spin Dragonoid. Heuses he/him! He no longer spins quite right, but that’s okay! He’s pretty serious, but protective and cares a lot about me and the rest of the hoarde!

This is Exedra! They’re a Darkus Exedra. I don’t know much about them just yet, I obtained them yesterday as well and they’re still a bit quiet!

This here is Ingera! He’s a Ventus Cosmic Ingram! He uses he/him and is good friends with Shredder, because they both love emocore! Ingera loves to try and be cool as he can!

And lastly is Falcore, the Pearl Aquos Falconeer! She uses she/her! She’s our singular Aquos, but doesn’t feel outnumbered. She’s very friendly, especially to Twister. She has a great amount of care for me and the hoarde.

Regarding the "Alice replaces Shun in s2" AU, will Ace be a Ventus brawler then? Ngl, the initial idea of Ventus Percival is nice, but I like Ingram and I just got this idea of Shadow calling Alice "princess", and Percival being a knight makes the image not just funny but kinda accurate lol ALSO, after they rescue Hydra, the "princess" will have her "dragon and knight" to fight with her XD Just having fun with the thought lol

i actually REALLY love the idea of alice using darkus percival because it'd be wholesome for sure 😭😭 especially with the princess, dragon and knight thing you mentioned but alice using percival would create the same problem as seen with shun in that she'd end up with two guardian bakugan.

and while i love your idea, i think reaper is owed the opportunity to work with alice lolol reaper helping alice to free hydranoid when hydranoid helped masquerade dispose of reaper in season 1 would make for some delicious irony ✋😩 and i think alice and reaper could develop a bond but still say goodbye to each other once nv1 ended without it being too painful.

Eirlys Morgan’s stage name is Tsuri, and so most brawlers just refer to her as Tsuri.

She’s villainsona.

Eirlys, one day, noted that Dan and Shun (the other battle brawlers too to a lesser extent) acted as if they were immortal, throwing themselves into danger for a “greater good.” To one up them, she decided to become immortal, specifically to ensure she was. Her wish from Masquerade (she was around for the original ruleset) was to learn how. When she learnt that she should absorb the power of the Earth’s core, that’s what she decided to do. She possibly succeeds in MS1, manipulating an emotionally fragile Dan to take her to the core, using Drago.

It’s both incorrect and correct to see her as entitled. It’s only incorrect given she’s trying to become immortal both out of spite, and to prove a point, but is only correct given she’s decided that she should be the immortal, and not the people who she’s trying to out-do (aka the Battle Brawlers)

If she’s succeeded, she wears either a loose jacket or a veil. It’s the same thing taking on different forms; it’s Abyss’ power given shape.

Eirlys herself is Welsh, and, through inheritance, was wealthy enough to rebuild and renovate a castle, which she then bought as a home.

Her bakugan... it’s a long list, but her mains per attribute are Pyrus Alpha Percival, Subterra Boost Ingram (her guardian, more often than not), Haos Ingram (the newest member of her main set, and also the youngest), a Darkus Dragonoid of some sort (it’s not the canon ballform in the anime, but it has physical Infinity Dragonoid’s ballform), Aquos Dual Elfin, and Ventus Cosmic Ingram.

She cares about herself, and her many bakugan, but her opinion could be swayed.

Hello! I've stumbled into your blog recently and I love your Bakugan designs! If it's not much trouble, could you tell what is your usual process of creating them? I've tried drawing my own original Bakugan but they end up more like random mythical creatures than actual Bakugan.

Long post incoming. I wish I understood how the Read More thing worked...

Bakugan tend to have names inspired by mythology (Percival comes to mind), or have traits that reference mythology (Skyress, a pheonix, could revive herself), or culture (at least, in the earlier seasons they did). Cosmic Ingram’s little bird headdress is a really loose reference to Aztec Eagle Warrior headdresses.

If this helps, when I was 13, I had a geography assignment, where we had to make a creature. In short, you had to make it with adaptions to it’s climate. Mine had over 21 notes on adaptions by the end.

From that assignment alone, I ended up thinking about creature (in this case, bakugan) design in equal measures of:

Is this cool looking to me? (alternatively, cute, creepy, weird, depending on the vibe you want. Despite how much I despise it, Macubass fills me with joy aesthetically. What I’m saying is, if you’re on the fence about a design, don’t keep it. You want to like it, not force yourself into liking it.)

Is it practical for where you might find it? (A lot of the main subterra bakugan have the issue of looking so imposing and defensive that I find posing them in movement hard. Unless it’s an intentional design choice, try to avoid this.)

Can it be repeatedly drawn without much issue? (this is why I did a redesign on Maxus Helios; it’s complicated and I didn’t like it, so it got the Mossworm treatment of reducing it while keeping its general design intact.)

Does it look forced? (avoid this as much as you can. Drago’s later evolutions have this problem, because he’s the main bakugan in the show, and so has the most evolutions, usually with the newest toy gimmick installed.)

Can it translate into a ball form without a lot of “I swear it looks like this!”? (I’m looking at you two, Dual Elfin and physical game Infinity Dragonoid!!)

I also tend to design a partner first, even before I design the bakugan, with the exceptions to this being Boost and Cosmic Ingrams, because they’re based on their preexisting ball forms. I find doll maker games the easiest way to do this (mostly because then you can focus on the bakugan rather than the partner), or using the Marketplace feature on Ourworld if doll makers have such a limited scope that no inspiration happens.

Once I have my partner designed, I generally give them a loose background; 

What are they? (Human, Vestal, Neathian, Gundalian? Not even one of those?)

Any character traits I want to reference? (Arakna’s first form is a bit restrained in design, and then evolves into a much less restrained-in-design monster, referencing Aelia’s ability to keep secrets, and her eventual secret spilling when it has to be known. She kept her true identity as a gundalian from Shun for 7 years. You know? The human lie detector? Him.)

What attribute do they suit? (Puns galore! Ventus users are notably rare in the show itself, as are Darkus users.)

Is the partner’s name any use in inspiration? (This is a yes or no thing, but Gloria’s surname of Swanhildr definitely inspired White Engelos’ wings and torso pattern.)

Do we apply irony? (Angelically sweet characters having demon-inspired bakugan, or energy filled fireworks having aquos bakugan, the elemental opposite to pyrus, which are the usual energy filled ones.)

And then I go from there. I usually try to base a bakugan on a real life creature, or cultural thing (from moths, to pirates).

Despite how detailed bakugan can get, I’d start with a really basic design, as basic as you can get, really, while still looking like a recognisable creature (Example, draw a vague cat, add two locks of hair that frame the left eye, add a flick of long fur in front that curls, tired eyes and one more tail. Now you have cat Shun. That’s the level of basic design I’m talking about here.)

Then add flourishes as necessary.

Guardia’s design is cat girl with a helmet (focus on the cat part). The flourishes were the shin designs, the cat-o-nine-tails references in her tail and ear streamers, The segmented body, the under eye markings, and the diamonds on her helmet and belly.

White Engelos is a human-shaped thing (she’s an angel...) with wings, clawed mitten hands and horse legs, with a tail. The flourishes were the mask motif, leotard patterned torso, head feathers, wing panels, and leg markings.

Honestly, Skyress is a bird in a vest. She was a detailed bird in a vest, but she’s a bird in a vest regardless.

When all else fails, fuse two concepts together.

RWBY Original Character 28

Name: Percival Ivory

Origin and Influence: Ivory is a creamy-white color and a substance that makes up the tusks/horns of several animals such as elephants or rhinos

Age: 18 (Birthday is May 30th)

Symbol: A beast’s head surrounded by spikes or claws (art by @chuckles-the-jester)

Species: Feline Faunus (admittedly, I was having trouble picking between lion and tiger when I first came up with him for my story)

Appearance: 6′3″ with a lean and muscular build, fair skin, cyan blue eyes, and brown spiky hair; his usual clothes consists of a red t-shirt, a loose black jacket that only reaches to his abs, a pair of black pants with small tears in them,ivory-colored armor on the sleeves of his jacket, metal-plated combat boots, and a chain belt with a lock in the shape of his emblem that acts like a buckle; his Faunus trait is a set of retractable claws similar to Tukson and Ghira Belladonna

Personality: Despite his delinquent-looking appearance, Percival is a very  excitable and friendly individual that loves to meet new people. He’s willing to go the extra mile to help out whoever he wants to and will put the safety of others before his own. He admits that he’s not the smartest person around, but he’s always able to prove himself as a fighter and leader by keeping control of a situation and using creative tactics. A person who loves to seek out challenges, Percival always encourages others to break their own limits on their journey. When he interacts with people he considers his friends, he does a special handshake with them. A man who puts his heart into everything he enjoys, this also adds to his negative emotions and can go into blind rages if his friends are in deadly situations. When the situation calls for it, Percival can show a calm focus that means he’s serious. He also has a habit of roaring when he gets into a fight he enjoys or to intimidate foes.

Backstory: Growing in Vacuo , Percival never really knew of his mother because she only handed him over to his father. He still wanted to learn more about her and learned that she was a Gecko Faunus Huntress that traveled the world. Hearing the stories that people told him about Huntsmen and Huntresses, Percival soon trained to become a fighter and eventually attended Shade Academy where he met up with his friends and they became Team PRDT. Throughout his journey, Percival hasn’t given up hope about at least meeting his mom someday and enjoys making as many friends as he can.

Weapon: Percival doesn’t fight with a regular weapon, but uses his natural claws instead; he will however use improvised weapons and wield them like swords, boomerangs, shields, and anything he can try to use

Aura and Semblance: Percival’s ivory-colored Aura has been trained enough so that defending himself is second nature and it allows him to use his Semblance to great effect; Percival’s Semblance allows him to create bone-like spikes on any part of his body that he can freely manipulate such as throwing them like knives, firing them like missiles, turning his feet into ice skates, creating shields, and all sorts of different ways that he can think of; the spikes he makes are also compatible with Dust and create all sorts of effects

Fighting Style: Percival’s fighting style is very unique as he battles using a combination of his Semblance, street fighting, and his claws; he’s smart in a fight, so he can use his Semblance in all sorts of different combinations in order through off enemies; his aggressive battling can force back even the toughest of defenses with an onslaught of attacks; he can also jump around the battlefield like a cat and attack with a sort of animal instinct, making him hard to predict in a straight fight; his main weaknesses in battle would be overusing his Semblance for attacks as well as being outsmarted and using the environment against him, making his aggression useless

NV bugs me with Alice because, thte reason Shun was involved was cause a portal (htf did that even open?) took him when you'd think it'd be ALICE who gets accidentally sent to Vestroia since her grandfather literally CAUSED the first portal in s1! Heck, with Hydra being the one who started Mira's resistance, you'd think Alice and Hydra would've taken Shun's place with Ace being a Ventus Brawler (Ingram or a Ventus Percival)

mira says a portal probably opened up due to "the dimensional distortion that occurred when the vestals came to new vestroia" but i call it ✨ bs ✨ because if that was the case, more of them should've opened up around the world and possibly taken in some people. i think literallythepresident is actually exploring that in their recent connection series fics.
