Louis was still shaking from a mixture of nerves and excitement from his first day at the new school, when he arrived home. However, the house seemed awfully quiet as he entered, the only sound being a soft sob coming from a living room.

Careful and a little bit scared of what expected him, he stepped into the next room, where he found his parents cuddled up on the couch. But it was not the usual kind of cuddle, as Louis could tell by the tears across his mother's face. Something was definitely wrong.

The news hit especially hard, since it was not long since Edward had passed away. Now, his beloved wife Maureen had gone, too.

Emma was heartbroken. Not only had she lost her mother who she had always been so close to, but she had lost both of her parents within a short time now. Kenneth was trying to put on a brave face and comfort his sister, but he, too, was much quieter than usual. Of course, they had expected it to happen eventually, but the grief was still hitting them both.

A Brief Synesthetic History

When I look around it could be said we are living in dark times, the walls & skies & sea & clouds & spaces within me, obsidian smoke, pitch tar, pooled oil. It tastes of ash & petrol & mould & the edge of a boiled knife & I hear the whooshing whooping of distant stars – black holes – ebony arias bending, twisting vibrations. What’s true is I want brighter times, amber & magenta times, spirals of smiling roses & giddy peonies, & detonations of laughing citrine. Times that carry the blush of wisteria, caramel popcorn, earnest eucalyptus. I was born in green times – aventurine smiles & verdant yards blooming viridian jewels, emerald & jade hanging from low branches, wistful and content. The 80s rainforest transmutes blue. Periwinkle times, the 90s breathed cornflower winds and bluebell gales, husked sapphire on metal plates, glimmering robin eggs on cedar porch chirping an unearthly jingle piercing aquamarine eyes of my father who knew only sadness. The sky only spoke rain, it was falling sea, shredded wave, lacerated labradorite, cascades of troubled cerulean. Shocked like glaciers arguing, raging because all’s spilled into red. A time of crimson, furls of fuchsia in the tide of blood after flames across New York, after strikes in Chicago, after death in the family. The 2000s were carnelian, lay the bead beneath my tongue, the rubies on my eyes, enshrine me in magma, encrust me in this livid tomb. Vitrine of vermillion, what is a body but stained glass, medieval sun never modern. The next era’s violet, arched, mutilated candy blossoming from irises in the back. In the evening light it all shivers purple, bruised lilacs yammer & portend a luminous love. Amethyst troves in the attic squirm & emit warmth, simmering with snapdragon & grapes, pisco vineyard from a decade ago, time punctured by lazy lost lagoons. Take me now into what seems like blank times, off-shades of pale peeling into crystal pears & glass shards as we wait, & the iridescent soul in the body of the future, the cloud high above spitting quartz & splitting mirrors, declares these are rainbow times, & I have to tell you, I love all the colours, I want all the colours. World, let me bathe in your prisms & drink your light. This marbled soil, this striated sky. I’d be no one & nowhere without.

My mother said if I fail on my new adventure I can live in her closet.

My French roommate has shit in my bed after having a midlife crisis at 29.

On television I look like an idiot. Even smart, floral blazers from the 10th Arrondissement make me look like a cartoon character because I’m very small.

They want to hire me as a curatorial fellow at the Musée du Quai Branly but then I have to stay here and oh, how I know the Parisians suffer.

Every Thursday there is a voracious vacuuming in the flat above me at 6am and I am suddenly murderous. I strike the ceiling with my broom and the ceiling strikes back.

My life is an Antonioni film. At the Sorbonne, I’m asked to describe my unwritten doctoral thesis in front of four medieval historians and a self-proclaimed spiritualist who spends most of his time at Père Lachaise by the grave of some important figure whose name I can’t remember. I whirl around in my seat and quip, “It is about nothing with precision.”

The community in Oaxaca wants me to ask the Mexican government to return the collection it stole but I’m merely an anthropologist, when did we ever hold power?

Margaret Mead was barely 5’0” and carried a walking stick taller than herself, which she’d use to intimidate men. That’s power.

I’m invited by the History Channel to appear on Ancient Aliens after my undergraduate advisor, a certain Mayanist, declines and thinks it would be hilarious to give them my personal email. “We will pay you $300,” they tell me. I think seriously about it.

Pseudoscience is absurd but my life is absurd. My next-door neighbour smokes cigarettes naked while his parrot shits on the patio. A colleague informs me they irrationally hate my surname.

“Would you like a career in anthropology?” my PhD advisor asks me after I tell him about the invite. This, coming from a man whose faculty headshot features him sacrificing a chicken.

Anthropologists don’t deserve careers, I think. But I sure enjoy all the grant and fellowship money, society’s conviction that we are worth something because “we are scientists.”

My brother texts me because my mother is in jail. She should stay there.

TED MORGAN’S KINGSGUARD PREMIERE: AN OVERVIEW

For weeks, fans have been waiting for the premiere of the new movie The Kingsguard starring Ted Morgan. The famous ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’ singer delved into his acting career and made a masterpiece! 

Los Santos News were proud to sponsor The Kingsguard Premiere, with over 100 of our reporters taking photographs to remember, from photographs of fans, A listers, other reporters and more! Can you spot yourself in any of these?

Hours before the premiere started, fans started piling in through the gates to get to the front to see their favourites! It had been rumoured that multiple celebrities would be attending this premiere, and the rumours weren’t wrong! Over 1000 fans made their way to the Oriental Theatre to get the best view of the premiere.

Hours later, cheers were erupted from the crowd as the premiere guests started to arrive.

Grey Party was very friendly and even spoke to some of our reporters!! He shook many of our hands and seemed excited to see Ted Morgan’s movie!

MyTube’s favourites had arrived on the red carpet! Jessica and Jackie Tyler looked stunning with similar dresses!

As The J&J Show fans are aware, Jessica and Jackie held a giveaway in collaboration with Ted Morgan to invite 2 lucky fans to appear on the red carpet with them!

And lucky for Daniel and Ruby, because the next person to arrive would shock them and make their experience even better!

Fans were shocked to see Ted Morgan hop out of the limo after 3 guests arriving. A group of fans spoke to our reporters before Ted’s arrival. They explained to us that they were playing a game, which was to guess who was going to step out of the limo. 

Ted was eager to go over to the crowd, and even take a selfie with a fan!

Following after Ted Morgan, was The Masked One. The two both share their labels in common, both first signed with Sanity Records, to transfer to Soundwave Ent.

Ted was also happy to answer any questions we had for him!

“Are you excited to watch your movie for the first time since release?”

“I honestly can’t wait to see the movie, and to experience it with everyone here will be amazing.”

“Have you seen clips of the movie, or is this your first real viewing of everything?”

”I haven’t seen the full movie yet, so this will be my first time. I’ve seen clips when we were filming it but that was before all the VFX were added” “How long did the movie take to make?”

“It took about 2 and a half months to film as we were leaving Los Santos, so it was quite easy to book locations for the shots.”

“We saw you taking a selfie with a fan earlier, is there anything you’d like to say to all if your fans now?”

“It’s an honour to see you all here and I want to let you know that you’re the best fans I could ever ask for”

“How many guests have you invited that you have collaborated with in your music career?”

“I invited Lady Charlamagne, Chanel Venturas, Brett Max and Bianca Scott.”

“Who is your favourite co-star in this movie?”

“My favourite co-star has to be Mark Firth, he played amazingly as Harry and the film, and I couldn’t have seen anybody else play that role.”

“Some people couldn’t make it today, such as your brother Jack, and your family in England. What would you like to say to them?”

We managed to also sneak a quick interview with the masked one!

“Are you excited to see the movie?”

“Yes, I’m actually really excited to see this movie, Ted showed me around the set and I got to see a clip of the film whilst there, and it looked amazing.”

“What are you expecting?”

“I’m expecting to see everyone laughing at the scenes I saw, they were quite funny.”

“Is this the biggest event you’ve attended?”

“Yes, at first it was Tigga’s party, and now it has to be this, have you seen how many people are here?”

“Are you and Ted Morgan close?”

“Yes, me and Ted are quite close, he showed me around Sanity when I first joined and he’s even let me use his studio in his penthouse before.”

“Who are you most shocked/excited to see here on the red carpet?”

“I’m shocked to see everyone really, because I’m still kind of new to the celebrity world and I still get starstruck whenever I’ve seen someone like Lady Charlamagne for example, I’m still star struck, as I was a fan of hers before I joined this world.”

Selena caught up with Grey Party and Ted Morgan and was very cheerful!!

We managed to ask Selena a few questions too!

“What do you think of the premiere so far?”

“It’s amazing!! I’m so excited to be here to support Ted with his movie, and I can’t wait to see some familiar faces too!”

“Were you expecting this many people?”

“Yeah, I did actually. I was scared to come here at first because I knew that there would be thousands of people all here to see Ted and the guests, but I knew I had to be here to support him and I’m so glad I did!”

“Do you know Ted personally?”

“Besides from being artists from soundwave, I haven’t really spoken to Ted. But I think he’d be a really nice guy.”

“Are you excited for the movie?”

“Absolutely!”

The next guest was Joshua Ardal, who surprised fans by showing up as they knew him and Ted Morgan disliked each other. But we can assure you, this is great news!

Ted Morgan approached Joshua to greet him. We couldn’t hear the conversation due to the noise.

“Where are the rest of the band?”

“They couldn’t make it, but they said to wish Ted their best and congratulate him on the movie, well Corey didn’t.”

“We saw you and Ted Morgan talking over there, are you guys civil again?”

“I’d say so. I never had much of a problem with Ted in the first place, but I’m glad we’re alright now.”

“Are you excited for the movie?”

“Hell yeah, the promotion covers looked awesome so I can’t imagine what the movies like.”

Ever since Leah's passing, the old Jones home had stayed empty, only the graveyard still in use and kept in the general family ownership. With nobody left to look after it, the house had quickly become overgrown with plants, but the family did not mind. If anything, it felt as though their ancestors were given new life through them.

The funeral was not just for Edward, either. Just that morning, Tilly's partner Everett had passed away, too. Since him and Edward had been friends since school years, before him and Tilly had even met, it did not come as a surprise, though that did not make it any less sad.

Christine was now the only member of the family left that had actually been born in the old house. With that thought in the back of her mind, she looked upon the graves in front of her, knowing that it likely was her turn next. Her husband Parker, who was stood just behind her, seemed to notice her pensiveness and gently stroked her shoulder, while their three children almost subconsciously moved closer in support.

Once everyone had broken off into separate groups, Emma sat down on the stairs with her brother, accompanied by their partners, for some catching up time. It had been a while since they had talked, apart from general family gatherings, since Emma was busy with the kids during the day, and Kenneth was often with his band at nights.

Aside from that, Kenneth and Tia had been busy with more than just music. Their romantic involvement had come to a level at which they had decided to just go and tie the knot. Feeling so elated after one of their performances, they had ran off to the town hall to elope, just the two of them.

Of course, Emma felt a bit sad about the fact that she was not at her brother's wedding, but she understood that a quick ceremony without big announcements was much more his style. Mostly, she was happy that he had found his way in life, and Tia was a lovely person, so he was in good hands. Deep down, she knew their father would have thought the same, and she made sure Kenneth knew about this, too. And still, even if not on the wedding day itself, the two siblings could have a late celebration some other day, or Emma would make sure to remind Ken about it until they did.

Kenneth: "Tell me about it."

Tatiana: "Right, I now wish he'd have been there with us."

Kenneth: "Me too."

Emma: "Been where with you?"

Kenneth: "Well, in between gigs, we sort of... eloped."

Emma: "What!? And you didn't invite me?"

Kenneth: "Hey, the point of eloping is that nobody's invited."

Tatiana: "We would have, had it been any other way."

Kenneth: "Though now I wonder how it might've been with Dad around."

Emma: "Oh, you know he's always been your biggest supporter. He'd be proud either way. But you've got to invite Niall and me for dinner some time to make it up to us!"

Okay we talk a lot about obscure f/os, but does anybody else have f/os that are so iconic that they loop back around into being obscure?

That sounds a bit confusing so lemme explain: one of my f/os is Tom, from Tom and Jerry. Literally everybody has heard of that character, right? And yet, there isn't any kind of fandom around the source material the same way that other things have fandoms. No one is writing fics or making fanart or headcanons about these characters. And I think that's because they've become so popular that they're viewed as cultural icons instead of characters. Therefore, popular and yet still obscure.
