The first build �� codenamed Joplin — would have had a fantasy spy theme, hunting 'the most dangerous man in the world'. The artists worked in the same room as the writers to work more dynamically! The book says this was the first time they tried this, to great success. And from the art thst really shows. 😭

The concept of Solas's ritual involves what seems to be mortal sacrifices arranged around an artifact.

I'm only 43 pages in out of 250 and there's SO much.

I wonder if the sword and the eye symbol on the new artbook cover are a reference to DA2 and DAI (as in, it looks exactly like Meredith's sword Certainty and the eye on the Inquisition's symbol?) since we had both Meredith and Corypheus on the 2020 teaser mural, too... but how exactly do they tie into the narrative of Veilguard? 🤔

Like the 2020 mural, is it another hint at both the red lyrium idol and the orb, maybe? Both of these artifacts did kinda set the events of each game in motion (less so in DA2 but it was still a big plot device). AND they both belong to Solas after all... 👀👀 Also....

There is the flippin dagger again. 😂 I've seen people speculating that maybe our choices might have an influence on the dagger somehow and that it could become corrupted (again? Since there's still a chance that this is the red lyrium idol but "purified". So maybe Solas cleansed it somehow, but without him, it transforms again?).

To me, the dagger on the artbook cover looks almost like it's covered in vines or roots? And that in turn reminds me of the vinyl cover with the tree branches and the dragon (Mythal?) and how Mythal's vallaslin looks also like tree branches and all that mention of vegetation and flora in the visions about Mythal's war against the Titans in Trespasser..

Or, speaking of "roots", Titans and Mythal, we might as well look at all these "lyrium veins" in The Descent again (the dagger is likely made of lyrium after all)...

And doesn't THAT in turn remind you of the new design of the demons we've seen so far in DA4 and that "nervous system", and how the devs just recently confirmed that there's a lore reason for that redesign?? 👀👀👀

My Veilguard art book just arrived and I am filled with way too many emotions to just set the book down and go to work! They started storyboarding and creating concept art for Veilguard from BEFORE INQUISITION LAUNCHED! I am unwell! The Divine could have sent a fleet out to search for Solas! The elves hearing the call to go to ARLATHAN FOREST and then meeting Solas with his crown on!! I am so frustrated. We could have had a ship as our base of operations as we travelled around Northern Thedas (the Eluvians could have kept their mystery instead of being reduced to magic portal ways only). I knew the art book would make me feel things but ugh! THE INTENT WAS THERE! The execution was hindered! Why must I work when I can DRAGON RAGE?!

like it is very easy to see where zevran, merrill, and fenris could fit into veilguard but i also keep thinking about how isabela was included and getting more annoyed so it's probably for the best they weren't included in this iteration of the game

while it's true that 10 years have passed since inquisition, the world state not carrying over is still frustrating because i imagine that isabela would have very different things to say (for example) with a romanced hawke left in the fade versus a hawke that gave her away to the arishok...

anyway it's such a classic dragon age game experience to go 'ahhh you know i had fun with that game and am gonna play it repeatedly and love every aspect of it possible, but with the intention of headcanon'ing and filling in the gaps in my brain and fanfic and fanart until it becomes The Perfect Media. to me'
