my first thought is action (dally) + compliments (johnny) + vulnerability (both)

dally definitely seeks johnny out when he's not got other stuff going on, he wants/needs to know where johnny is, that he's okay. he worries about him. but also he's like, constantly inviting him to buck's parties or to watch him rodeo or to go see a movie. lightly manhandling johnny (arm over the shoulder, hand under his chin to kiss him when they're alone, running his fingers through his hair, etc)

johnny.... hm. i think he's not as much of an action-oriented person. like i think he pays attention, he likes knowing where dally is and being able to tell what kind of mood he's in. i think he's big on compliments. "you sure can cuss good" and all that. i think he compliments dally like, at least once a day and dally preens over it.

together tho, i think they're very emotionally vulnerable with each other. dally opens up about how hard shit has been for him, and johnny validates him (cue another compliment). also, johnny is canonically quiet but as a certified quiet bitch myself i think johnny really opens up once he's comfortable, and dally makes an effort to make johnny comfortable. dally is one of the only people who johnny can bitch to/with.

on that note, they must have talked about how much they miss the curtis parents after they died -- johnny's "leave em alone, dal" at the drive in didn't come from nowhere! i guarentee that they've talked about 1. how much they miss the curtises, 2. how much dally misses having someone tell him to cut that shit out, and 3. how much johnny does get irritated sometimes that dally is such an asshole. to me that moment at the drive in was absolutely not the first time something like that has happened, just the first time pony witnessed it, and i think those are the sort of conversations happened a lot.

dally i think is less good about actually expressing his feelings, like it doesn't come naturally to him at all, but he also says the sappiest most heartfelt shit ever but ONLY when they're alone. "you're so - my day was shitty but now you're here. so. it's better."

Thanks. People have ignored me (or my boundaries) and laughed at me for doing absolutely normal things on my birth month, and we still have a couple weeks to go for October, so there's that. We started off with Discord disappointment, and we're currently going strong with a slight fever and more Discord disappointment.

It's been very tough for me to be kind and compassionate this month, especially to myself and the guys who'd somehow felt like doing things in jest that end up upsetting me anyway*, but I'm trying.

*Not entirely their fault, but the last straw does break the camel's back, and this camel is particularly already very tired.

I don’t think any of them would really complain about eating their vegetables tbh. They just eat whatever’s given to them. I say Linebeck May struggle the most cuz he doesn’t eat a lot of veggies. Mostly fruit and fish 🤷‍♀️ but idk, some veggies are darn good so I doubt they complain much about it

Softer question this time.

Question Three! Siyoh grew up in a bakery. She helped work it. She suffered for it. Does she still bake? Does she have a favorite recipe? A favorite food?

Siyoh's life at this point revolves around food and hospitality. She's dedicated her life to becoming a passionate culinarian and trades woman.

After the revolution Rex helped her reclaim her family's business by financing her purchase of the old family Bakery, which was at least still mostly intact. Now that the occupation had passed Siyoh wanted to restore the honor her parents had fostered before her and celebrate their memory.

She considered reopening a bakery, but with it brought many ill memories of living a life under occupation. Furthermore, since living in Limsa Lominsa she'd learned a lot about both Othardian and Eorzean cooking. Too, she learned many out West were not familiar with Eastern customs nor food, and this was something she wanted to change.

Siyoh is incredibly passionate about Doman (and Thavnarian) culture. She loves spreading the wisdom both her Mother and Father passed on to her about their traditions and culture. She's excited to share Eastern food with those who have never tried it before, and since the revolution brought so many new faces to the East it cultivated the perfect opportunity for her current business, the Umbral Udon, which operates out of the building which used to be her Mother's bakery.

A now thriving venture in the East, it serves primarily as a Ramen Shop/Noodle Bar. However, there is an RSVP only venture in which Siyoh cooks a multi-course meal for a group of up to six diners she calls 'A Taste of the East.' This is mostly for foreigners but some locals enjoy participating too. The goal of this meal is to introduce patrons to an assortment of both Hingan and Doman cuisine and educate them on the historical and cultural influences and significance of each dish.

As a trader following in her Father's footsteps and working with a lot of his pre-established contacts, Siyoh has access to a wide range of the most fresh and delicious ingredients on the Eastern roads, seas, and winds. Further more, as the Umbral Udon works hand in hand with her sister establishment, Azuma's 'The Doman Dragon', they also have a large plot of land where they work their own fresh foods and ingredients.

Her work ethic, trading know-how, and contacts are what likely originally caught Rex's eye and influenced him to finance both establishments. But also likely led to the early attractions between both Rex and Siyoh, who are now romantically involved much much later down the line.

These days, most of the labor for the Umbral Udon is worked by staff which have been carefully curated by Siyoh. Why? Because she has moved her business further West to be more involved with Firelight Trading Company leading their Hospitality division. (You know, so that she can be closer to her man and not an entire ocean apart...)

Part of her job entails things such as curating the menu and management of The Fireside. Which is why if you ever attend one of the Fireside in game roleplay events, you might catch Siyoh make an entrance in the last 20-30 minutes before close to take inventory, see what sold, make adjustments to the menu, and make sure the staff and Baristas (like Mihli and Sarrai) are happy.

So she absolutely still bakes. I don't think she bakes for sale any more, but rather more as a love language for those around her and to keep the memories of her Mother close.

When Siyoh was still spending time under As'htola's roof in Limsa Lominsa, I once wrote about how she covered her kitchen in currant tarts. She spent the entire day and night making them, desperate to perfect them because she could almost remember why they mattered so much to her. And that Starlight, she remembered it was because of her Mother.

So food and cooking, also played major parts in Siyoh regaining her memories and healing too.

Food is her love language, but also a universal language. Food brings people together.

as for the question !!!!! hm hm HMM i honestly think i just loveee going on walks…. nothing beats spring walks imo (autumn walks r a close second tho >:3) it’s just so lovely to stroll around a bright green park…. grab a milkshake from any cute stores i pass…… and seeing the flowers and the bees and everything is always so lovely hhh i can’t wait for everything to bloom :’3

So! I think the answer to this changes slightly depending on how they lived. also, I had fun doing some historical research for this ask, haha, so the sources will be linked as they come up.

1. Its a "The Outsiders didn't happen and everything continued as normal" AU

- They either are already together or get together soon

- They'd take coupley photos in a photobooth since it was one of the only ways they could be coupley in public

- Since they're both poor and basically homeless, I think it would make sense for them to move into a shitty apartment together once they either finish high school or drop out. No one would really question this when they're young either.

Also, greasers, the Curtis gang especially, are generally more affectionate with each other than the stereotypical macho man of that time. especially with how queer cowboys were historically, and how much the greasers love (the idea of) cowboys, I think johnny and dally would be able to sit together or have an arm over a shoulder at the drive-in and people wouldn't really bat an eye.

- However, I think there's value to put on like... Being closeted intentionally. I know Dally hates cheating and loyalty is a big thing for him, but that also includes bending the rules for the people he's most loyal too. I think he'd still hit on girls or kiss them/have brief flings, but not commit to them because, of course, he's going home to Johnny. He would "give up on women" in his mid-20s, although like... just look at him, a guy with a criminal record as long as his arm, who has a bad misogynist streak and prison tats? Yeah, people aren't really surprised he never gets (legally) married.

Johnny though... A sensitive, thoughtful guy who's never really angry at anyone? But still rough enough to be considered a bit of a "bad boy"? Oh the girls would be swarming him in their 20s and 30s, especially if he goes to visit Ponyboy at college ever. Johnny would be a heartbreaker.

- on that note, johnny is someone who, to me, reads as Gay, unlike dally who can fly under the radar, and this makes him a bit of a target. Tim or maybe Bryon has probably heckled him over it a few times. Johnny has a mouth on him when he needs to, and he is a greaser after all so it's never too bad. but there are definitely some incidents where he gets questioned or beat up over it (though it's not really any worse than a typical Soc beating, so...). but this provides another argument for them being closeted.

- I don't think Tulsa had much of a gay community, no gay bars, just individual people more or less. But they'd still be close with the gang so it wouldn't matter as much.

- Speaking of the gang, their relationship would eventually become something of an open secret. I think Two would figure something out, probably around when Dally "gives up on women" and maybe he talk to Darry about it ('cause god knows Darry needed someone to talk to about Ponyboy and his... softness, whether Pony winds up gay or not.). I think it would be funny if Soda remained an oblivious straight guy about it until Darry has to pull him aside to say something.

- They wouldn't really be affected by AIDS in the 80s. Like, they'd hear about it and it'd be upsetting to them, but not personally affected - they're not hooking up with anyone else by that point, they don't know many other gay people... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

2. Its a "The Outsiders still happened they just didn't die at the end" AU

- a lot of similarities, but Johnny is paralyzed and a wheelchair user by the end. This would change their dynamic a bit, maybe delay them getting together for real because Johnny now has to deal with this enormous change and it's emotional repercussions first.

- that said, i actually think this would make their relationship stronger because they'd have to navigate this change together and dally would have to learn how to be patient with johnny to a degree he never was before, which would make or break any relationship. (in thsi case, makes it.)

- also, people would question their relationship less because of course poor "wheelchair bound" johnny would need a caretaker (heavy sarcasm here is intended). that said "caretaker" the toughest hood on the block is well... he's like johnny's guard dog, right?

- dally would have the same kinda job regardless of the timeline - janitor, line cook, autoshop, that sort of thing. but in the disabled!au timeline i think he'd have chronic pain from getting shot but not dying. since hes now unable to run from the cops, he'd have to find something else to do with his time, ie finishing high school and/or getting a job. they gotta make rent somehow! especially if johnny struggles to find work or go to school.

- finally, i think nondisabled!johnny would be an EMT or firefighter or something else emergency-related, but that's not an option for disabled!johnny so he'd be a teacher or guidance counselor or therapist. (he'd work a lot with war vets i think and be able to connect with them on a way other (female) therapists couldnt). in the meantime if he can get a job he'd work odd jobs as a cashier, cleaner, retail.

What's your pet peeve about worldbuilding? And why'd you choose to name a flat world after orbs??

There's two pet peeves I have in mind, and this is from my POV as a reader.

The first is using worldbuilding as a poor excuse for writing often lengthy and gratuituous scenes featuring violence (and especially sexual violence) against women and nonwhite or nonwhite-coded people. I don't think I need to explain this in much detail.

The second is not having any space to ponder and interpret other aspects of the fictional world because the author - often due to caving in to fan demand - reveals too much concrete information about the world. I like having a bit of ambiguity. I view this in the same way that an average person might function in the everyday - we don't need to know or remember how every single thing works to live a full, fulfilling life, and not knowing everything is sometimes a smarter way of life.

As for why I named "Orbis" as such, I actually don't remember why. All I know right now is that I didn't want to call it "Gaia", which I associate with the online avatar forum space, GaiaOnline (or GoGaia as some might know it from before its rebranding). If it's any saving grace, while Orbis is a flat world, it's a spherical kind of flat world, similar to a CD.

However, now that you bring up orbs, I think it'd be cool if Orbis was a half flat, half sphere world, like the half of a Pokéball. It would make sense, since one of the deities of structure is literally holding Orbis in the god's palms.

I would say one of the actual antagonists, but Sky's dramatic af so honestly, I think they'd end up in some weird "no I'M Abigail's best older sibling" rivalry with Abigail's actual sister, Charlotte. The two would probably go on and on about how cool they each are, while Abigail witnesses in pure confusion. They will be rivals forever no matter what Abigail tries to do.

But they're also gonna pummel Ben as soon as they lay eyes on that stick of a kid because NO ONE messes with their adopted baby sister (she's barely a year younger than them).

🥕 [CARROT] How tough is your OC against certain situations? How weak are they against others?

Physically, Sky isn't super tough. They could maybe land in a good punch/shove or two, but that's pretty much it. Most people with any sort of fighting training will kick their ass.

But, they're an actor (and a pretty damn good one at that), and they can definitely use that to their advantage. Whether it be pretending to be more hurt than they really are to mentally disarm their opponent or convincing others to help them out, Sky has other ways to be tough.

He didn't like it here — Surrounded by the extravagance of wealth and dated jujutsu traditions made Megumi feel even more out of place than he already felt, even at such a young age. An age which should have consisted of smiles and naivety. The child ventured around the premises while kicking rocks and wishing he was anywhere but on Gojō clan territory. An hour dragged with the speed of ten when malachite eyes suddenly spotted the four paws, wrinkly whiskers, and friendly tail belonging to a stray cat. He moved swiftly ( purely on animal loving instinct before really thinking about his actions ) and snatched up the colourful feline. A hiss, several scratches, and a conversation later, Megumi returned to the estate with his new friend tucked within his yukata. The boy seemed to march forward with the glee he experienced, and the scratches on his chin and chest went ignored.

           Sweet incense that perfumed the air, the conclave of stone that had been untouched for thousands of years, humble people, virtuous with goodness in their hearts. So was the legend in this land, the tale of those high upon the summit that were graced by the infinite skies, nothing had changed. The practices that were still held like a vice && superstitions that were uniquely their own. Thousand eyes that linger upon the inky hair boy, each holding their tongue beneath a veil, for those of such lineage they hid amongst one another - shrouding their gaze && visage out of humility, protecting their beloved lordling. All those who found a way into the heart of the benevolent God were welcomed, granted with a kindness that was polite && hollow, still cautious as if expecting violence within a moment. Cups of mulled wine, cider that was rich with spices, tea to warm the belly && pretty confections with traditional flavors, never to know desire, they shared in their bounty.

          The sky hangs low, threatening another storm, but the chill is another emotion he has become accustomed to. Constant onslaught of voices that utter this or that, what their enemies or allies plan to do, monotonous topics that drove him to yawn - rudely. The passage of time flows freely within the thin altitude, seeping into every crevice, pausing momentarily to greet the souls long departed. It’s almost lunch, his ward was most likely hungry, elongated fingers that move to pull && tug at bandages mouthing with an utmost brashness; let’s cut this conversation short. Echoing, the sound of whispers fill the courtyard, barren at the moment, awaiting the blossom of Spring to come in. Only the willow tree remains, great && imposing, a constant guardian. His stomach grumbles, threatening to eat itself as he ponders, where is Megumi? Bakeneko, it catches his attention. A feline has found its way onto their grounds? How strange, most would scurry unnerved by the air that hung loosely. Unease, from shrewd eyes that pierced through their veils, the Honored One instead laughs - billowing in delight.

             What a proud creature, which one he spoke of was that of a mystery, “Oh, Megumi-chan! I was wondering where you went. Come, let’s have lunch, I’m sure you are hungry” with his head tilted, arms grasping one another through the flow of teal sleeves, a silver brow quirks. “A friend?” waving off any implorements of what ill luck this could bring, azure eyes rolled, if the shadow child wished to fill the estate with creatures to call friends - then so be. Happiness where it was least found, in their world that threatened to tear apart all that was innocent, a moment of joy in childhood was all that mattered. Crouching down, he stood eye level, lips pursed while reaching out. “Tsk, tsk! You couldn’t dodge those paws now, could you?” this would liven things up in such a haughty structure.

          “See what happens when you skip meals? Cats start to pick on you! That’s never good but, I think your new friend will like oden stew - I heard it’s a sure way of becoming strong that’s only if you eat the vegetables”
