Dialogue heavy continuation of part 3
messy Shaka + Lilith dialogue extra below
Tumblr media
When it comes to ‘donating’ i’d say something along the lines of Doflamingo donating a part of baby 5’s DNA to the government to use.
I’d like to think that crewmembers with paramecia types in warlord crew were also required to have some dna handed over as it would’ve been good use for vegapunks to choose and give to the seraphims

EGGHEAD KUJI PRIZES REVEALED
It's scheduled to be released on 2 August! Cheers! Review below! A pretty good kuji, they went all out on the prizes.
Tumblr media
Starting with the last prize (why?), we have Luffy and Vegapunk as a figurine duo!
Tumblr media
Prizes [A] to [D] are Luffy (by himself), Zoro, Bonney and Lucci respectively! Lots of [approx 17cm] figurines this round!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Prize [E] is a super cute Chopper plushie! The visor changes his expression when viewed from a different angle!
Tumblr media
[F] prize is a multi-layered acrylic stand off the 🥚 Straw Hats!
Tumblr media
[G] prize are choosable mini Seraphim figurines. I'm a little annoyed at how S-Snake turned out; why does her skin color have to be different from the boys?
Tumblr media
[H] prize are acrylic standees of our six Vegapunks!
Tumblr media
Egghead themed towels for our [I] prize~ From Vegapunk(s) to Zoro & Luffy's "You don't seem to like that!" scene!
Tumblr media
[J] prize are rubber coasters of the Strawhats + Vegapunk & Bonney!
Tumblr media
And lastly, our [K] prizes are the file & sticker combo!
Tumblr media
Rating... I'll give it a 8/10 because of how fun and good all the prizes are, but docking points because Toei's a whitewashing bitch. Seriously, S-Snake did not need a design change like that. It's not in the manga, and it doesn't need to be in the anime. I hope it'll get reverted to normal eventually...

I had completely forgotten about that theory of Kidd being a Punk satellite until I was rewatching some egghead episodes *for reasons* and thought "man... that sea beast weapon sure looks like kidd- wait."

dr. vegapunk; atlas & york
after shaka & lilith i decided to make it a set and draw the other satellites too. here are the girls, they're colors go so well together but just like shaka... york is really, really hard to color. her colors are so not my thing, on the other side tho, atlas was so much fun to color. so pleasing, all pink and cute. i love her so much

Why does Egghead have so many peak designs [Spoilers]
Usopp looks like he’d be my friend from like 6 to the end of my life and always have my back
Shaka looks just cool
The robot vegapunks are cute
I can’t put my finger on why I like Lilith’s design but it’s probably my second favorite Vegapunk design(behind Shaka)
York and Atlas have a similar situation to Lilith but for a completely different reason
The only design I don’t really like from this arc is Robin and somewhat Nami because of the egregious fan service which is my least favorite part of One Piece
Also, Vegapunk having all the bad parts of him be women seems kinda strange

Note
Headcanon to what kind of clothes would Lilith, Atlas and York wear when they go out of the lab.
FASHION WEEK: VEGAPUNK'S EDITION
Tumblr media
LILITH❤️‍🔥
Probably the one who's trying to be sexy and practical at the same time.
No heels, but sturdy Dr.Marteens would do. Probably jeans and a tank top/ crop shirt depending on the weather of the place she's going, and always a coat on.
The colours would go from black to some dark tones for the coats and shoes, and some nice warm tones for the shirts and jeans. Nothing flashy
ATLAS🗺️
Probably her too would use some Dr martens, as they are very sturdy boots.
Dresses. She would wear dark pastel tinted dresses in the blue tonality
Totally into coats that are the same length or even longer than her dresses.
YORK🌟
Crop tops and shorts. No doubt in my mind. Probably bright in colour too.
Knitted high thighs black socks that are paired with knee height boots would be her go too
Would probably wear light jackets to cover the tops, or varsity like jackets. Probably monocrome or with black lines around it.

ya know, after learning more about vegapunk, it really makes what franky did even more impressive, cuz, like.
there are only a handful of people in this world that have even made cyborgs.
which are a genius prodigy with a devil fruit that makes him physically smarter than other people and and (some of) the people that worked/researched with him - all of whom are experts in biology, weaponry, machinery, etc, AND had the resources of entire countries and/or the government.
and then also some guy who knew carpentry.
and he did it first.

Muse of Violence, Warrior of Science.
To the ordinary, everyday genius scientist-for-hire with a heart too big for her own good, we raise our sake cups.
You gave us food. You tried to protect us. You gave your life to ensure we'd all live on. Just lending a hand.
You knew it would end like this. We all knew it would end like this, and yet you still did it. And you did it to protect the friends you had made and the family you had left. And you did it all on your own terms, smiling all the way to the afterlife, knowing your will would be inherited by those you saved.
Clone or Machine or Satellite or Daughter. It matters not what you were. Because you went out like a true member of those who carry the will of D.
Thanks for everything, Atlas. For a satellite representing rage and violence, you had the biggest heart of any of them.
#egghead arc#chapter 1120#one piece spoilers#Vegapunk Atlas#Atlas is my favorite character in the series. I got into One Piece around the time Egghead started#and I just immediately fell in love with her character. Everything from being simultaneously a giant violent kaiju and a sweet young woman#to her endearing passion for her inventions (even more so than any of the other satellites) to her unwavering kindness toward the Straw Hat#simply because they liked what she had made and ate her food. A person so overwhelmingly and completely sincere it hurts.#Its not a stretch to say I resonated with her a lot throughout Egghead. Everything about her is 100%. Her passion and work ethic. Her rage.#Her happiness. Her protectiveness.#Her grief.#Atlas is a character that I fundamentally believe received one of the best death scenes of any one piece character.#But god it's so hard to say goodbye.#I would have loved to see how she would have reacted waking up on Elbaf and finally having the safety to mourn everyone she loves.#To see how she moves forward from this. To see her work furiously to keep the wills and memories of the people she loved alive.#But most importantly I think I just wanted to see her.. live. I just wanted that big ol' girl with a heart too big for her own good...#to make it to the end in one piece.#But what a sendoff. If she had to die.. I'm glad she got to die on her own terms. Helping everyone one last time and cracking a smile.#Humble as always.#I'm gonna miss her a lot.#punk.txt

i really do appreciate vegapunk's character writing and i genuinely think he's one of the better examples of morally grey characters who do good things but are ultimately awful people.
like, i said this on my main but it makes So much sense that york ends up turning on the other vegapunks and sells them out to be a celestial dragon, because that's exactly what vegapunk did when ultimately chose to support a genocidal empire that serves to only oppress the people they supposedly serve for the flimsy reason of "they have more resources".
because like his conversation with dragon shows, in spite of his moral compass (supposedly) not aligning with the world government's, he easily chooses to be their benefactor rather than the freedom fighters, all because they can actually support him so he can "do more good."
and while we're told by other characters of the good he's done (publishing numerous medical journals, inventing things that supposedly enhance the quality of life, and other things of that nature on egghead in particular) we are shown time and time again in the story the sheer amount of violence and oppression vegapunk's work has allowed the marines to inflict upon the general populace. the biggest one being the navy warships that can cross the calm belt.
at least in the past the calm belt has kept the world government at bay for the smaller islands within (like, let's say, lulusia) but with the warships their reach has expanded to the point where they can harass small islands who have little resources to scrounge up to pay the celestial dragon's tributes. you can argue that the navy warships allow for the "good" marines to help more people, but as we can see from the countless number of cops who are useless at best and corrupt at worst, the cons heavily outweigh the benefits.
that's just talking about the warships alone, not even mentioning the entire novel i could write about the pacifistas, how regardless of vegapunk's intentions and clear grief over the matter he still did it anyway and placed a huge and painful burden on bonney due to her ultimate control over them, also placing a massive fuck off target on her back while she's still only twelve.
he's a man who is kneecapped by his ambitions, and someone who ultimately falls because he made a deal with the devil and the devil finally collected.

Thoughts on the Seraphim, assuming you have any?
one thing i think is quite interesting in egghead, which hasn't necessarily been highlighted prominently by the narrative but which underlies the whole arc, is the similar treatment of the various artificial humans created by vegapunk: the satellites, the seraphim, stussy, and, to a certain extent, kuma.
i think one of the points of egghead is that it's both inhumane and impossible to try and create a person with no individuality or free will. like, it's immoral, but it also just doesn't work. you can't create a person just to serve your own needs and have them not have any personality or identity of their own; it's antithetical to human nature. one piece consistently says that all things strive, and all things dream, and all things want to be free, and that's why vegapunk's creations keep becoming real people in ways that he didn't intend or foresee.
all of the artificial humans in this arc have some degree of identity and individual thought, even those who were specifically designed to be perfectly obedient. we see this when vegapunk is shocked to hear that s-snake is capable of defying orders to help luffy, and when kuma comes to save bonney despite every fact of science saying that he should be brain-dead.
york's betrayal is also consistent with this. vegapunk didn't see it coming, because he created and viewed the satellites as extensions of himself, but they aren't! they're sentient people with, at least, the potential to develop their own dreams and motivations and goals that don't necessarily align with his. that's what being human is.
in that sense, the fact that vegapunk's downfall is brought about by york's self-actualization is quite karmic. her actions are evil and extreme and cause massive collateral damage, of course, but i honestly think they're also pretty understandable when you consider her as a person who was created to only be an extra limb of someone else, trying to define herself. how else was she ever supposed to be free?
this theme is, i think, particularly embodied in stussy, who is clearly undergoing something of an identity crisis. she's caught between loyalty to the purpose she was seemingly created for and loyalty to the identity and relationships she's developed for herself while living out in the world as her own person; she betrays the latter for the former, which is something that clearly pains her greatly, and then loses the former anyways, leaving her with nothing.
the situation that stussy is put in is really very cruel, and honestly, egghead is a fundamentally inhumane place. it's full of people who are expected to not be people. it's frankly no wonder one of them eventually freaked out and turned evil.
vegapunk pressuring sentoumaru into betraying the world government for him is played for comedy, and it's basically implied sentoumaru would've done that anyways, but at the same time it's rather telling of the way vegapunk tends to treat his subordinates and creations: like their own thoughts and feelings, if they have any, don't really matter. vegapunk doesn't ever intend to be cruel, i don't think, but he's certainly thoughtless and inconsiderate, and when you're dealing with human life that can be just as damaging.
this all brings us back to the seraphim. they're weapons of war, yes, but they're also children who had no say in their own creation, and who clearly have at least somewhat more individuality than vegapunk intended them to have (as we see definitively with s-snake). they're effectively slaves of the world government, currently. even when you look at how they were created, they're products of experimentation on a captive child (king), and two of them, s-snake and s-bear, are cloned from former child slaves themselves.
one piece is a story about freedom. i think one way or another, thematically, the seraphim will have to end up free. i can't predict when or how that'll happen, but everything about egghead and the series as a whole indicates that the desire of living things to be free and dream is irrepressible.
