It was a normal day at the Shinonome household. Akito was currently trying on a new outfit he had gotten the other day while Toya patiently waited for him to reveal the final look. The redhead then walked into the room, wearing a cropped hoodie which exposed all of his tummy. Toya smiled at him in adoration, he couldn't help but think that Akito looked cute in whatever he wore. "It looks nice".

"Thanks..." Akito shifted awkwardly in place as a blush spreaded across his cheeks.

"Is something wrong?".

"I don't know, I guess it's just a bit too revealing..".

It was uncharacteristic of the redhead to feel embarrassed about something, and Toya didn't like it one bit. Suddenly, he tought of a fun and playful tactic to get rid of his boyfriend's worries. He gently guided him by the hand to his bed, softly pushing him down to lie on his back. Akito's face instantly flushed when Toya took a seat along his waist. "W-what are you doing?!".

"I'm just here to tell you that there's nothing to worry about. Plus, now I have easier access to do this~" and just like that, Toya's fingers latched onto Akito's exposed sides, softly wiggling away at the ticklish skin.

"Pfft! Ahahahahaha! T-Toya nahahahaha!" Akito tried swatting away at Toya's hands but he wouldn't budge, not that he minded of course. The bicolored haired male then proceeded to climb his fingers up to Akito's lower ribs, playfully digging in between them. "GyAh! Nahahat thehehere!!" silly Akito tried covering up his bashful smile with one hand while trying to grab at Toya's wrists with his other one. His face all the way down to his neck was fully red tomato.

"Now that just won't do. Let me see that smile~" teased Toya as he trailed his fingers down to Akito's tummy.

The redhead instantly let out a high pitched squeal, his giggles getting more frantic. "NaHAhahaHA! Thahat's even wohorse!!" he kicked his legs out as he threw his head back in laughter. Toya continued to playfully scribble all over Akito's tummy, enjoying all the cute laughs and squeals his boyfriend produced. He then proceeded to circle his index finger around Akito's navel. "NohoHO! NaHAt theHehere!" poor Akito bucked his hips and tried sucking in his stomach, but the crop top was putting him at a big disadvantage.

"Tickle tickle~" teased out Toya as he playfully wiggled his finger inside his bellybutton.

"NAHAHAHAHA! Y-YOU JEHEHERK!" Akito screeched in laughter as he tugged on his hair, he was too ticklish for his own good. Toya kept tormenting the sensitive 'lil spot as poor Akito got lost in his boisterous laughter, his bright smiled exposed for everyone to see. His eyes were getting a bit teary and his hair was a complete mess from all his squirming, but of course Toya wasn't done with him yet.

"I'm gonna go for your worst spot now, prepare yourself" he warned with his usual stoic expression, but there was a small smirk at the corner of his lip. Toya then proceeded to lower Akito's pants just a bit to better reveal his waist. He then got to work by massaging deep circles into his partner's hipbones.

"GYAH! TOYA NAHAHAHAHA!" if he wasn't losing his shit before, he definitely was now. Akito screamed in laughter and thrashed around but Toya's stubborn hands kept tickling away at that dreaded spot.

"It's so cute how ticklish you are here" mused Toya out loud as he smiled down at his partner fondly.

"S-SHUT UHUHUP! AHAHAHAHAHA!".

As much fun Akito was having, Toya didn't want to overdo it. So he slowed his fingers to a stop, opting to rub at the redhead's bare tummy lovingly. Akito quickly gasped for air, his chest heaved as aftermath giggles spilled out of him like a waterfall. He was so lost in his giggle frenzy he honestly forgot what he was so worried about. It was nice to have a kind partner help tickle his insecurities out of him.

ok uhhh once again if this ends up becoming a furtana post it's bc i have zero self-control. seriously no thoughts only them i am a furtana stan account

also? once i've written more of the fic (manifesting that lmao) i wanna make a proper zine and i think it would be fun to include mini playlists for the main characters? like 'santana essentials,' 'finntana's soft jazz essentials,' etc. very hypothetical project but a girl can dream

finntana grew up together and therefore have similar music tastes (kinda). finn is very big on rock, especially classic rock, and made santana listen to a lot of it with him. she was never into it to the same extent as he was, but high school rolled around, dragging up a lot of insecurities and pain, and santana realised that singing along to the angriest rock songs she could find helped alleviate some of it. finn wasn't huge into alt rock but he did some digging just for her and helped her find artists like alanis morissette to listen to. he also talked to his mom about his concerns regarding santana's mental health (as if carole hadn't noticed already) and she introduced santana to soft jazz. so some days, finn and santana would go outside and blast alt rock and break stuff, but other days they would curl up in bed and fall asleep to the softest jazz (this is not a good drawing but u get the vibe). i think kurt would join in on the jazzy times - he would just sit at finn's desk and work on homework or fashion stuff, yknow? once in a while he'd look over at finntana just to check in, and he'd smile fondly when he sees that one or both of them has fallen asleep.

santana is a bit more connected to latin culture here, so i reckon she likes to sing along to spanish songs when she's doing stuff like cleaning or cooking. kurt can tell she's in a good mood when he hears it. she vibes in particular with rock artist santana, completely unrelated to the fact that his (last) name is also santana. i also think she's into r&b but i have not thought about it in detail.

kurt likes his showtunes :) i think his interest in them would've increased more in college/upon meeting blaine, bc finn and santana were never the type to listen to any of that. also? this is kinda random but kurt strikes me as the kind of person who enjoys niche/old/foreign movies, so i also have some classic french songs in my kurt playlist? stuff like la vie en rose, non je ne regrette rien, ne me quitte pas, etc. i just know that boy romanticises paris there's no way he doesn't.

quinn gives me indie vibes, which is a funny statement bc i still have not figured out what indie music really is. it feels like a very vague category bc then u have indie pop and indie rock and like,,, what does that meAN. i looked up the definition of indie and i'm still confused. anyway i have a very specific vibe in mind so i'm just gonna drop a few songs here and call it a day. carnival - natalie merchant, criminal - fiona apple, honey and smoke - case/lang/veirs, august - taylor swift, stop draggin' my heart around - stevie nicks ft tom petty. take from that what u will.

brittany listens to a lot of upbeat music. primarily 2000s- early 2010s pop and hip hop but i don't think she has much of a preference as long as it has a good dance beat. i have a solid mix of britney spears, rihanna, beyonce, kesha, and lady gaga songs (among others) in her playlist if that helps. she has the best playlists for stuff like bus rides and messing around in the gym with music playing on the speakers bc it's safe to assume everyone will enjoy all of it

What would the boys be like as older siblings?

Ushijima would be really good, but definitely not in an emotional way. He would be the type that gets ice cream for his sibling, and takes them to volleyball games. He would be really good at listening to them, and make them feel v v important. He would also chaperone for field trips, everyone is impressed that his sibling’s big brother is Shiratorizawa’s ace. Best tea party guest. He sits next to Mr. Cuddles. Probably teaches sibling about volleyball, goes to every peewee match. 

Reon is the best big brother you could ask for, he’s a sweetheart, and naturally nurturing. He would give lessons when he noticed they were struggling, and make sure he had lots of treats and snacks on hand so they know they’ve done well! Gives the best piggy back rides. He is a master of braiding hair, and setting up tea parties. He would probably be the coach for a peewee vb team, so his sibling feels comfortable on their first team. 

Semi would have a love-hate relationship with his sibling, they steal each others things constantly, and annoy each other, the ‘He’s looking at me, make him stop!’ type. But god help whoever crosses this pair, they will definitely walk away in tears. Semi would pick them up from school ‘reluctantly’ and walk them home, but this would stop at high school. Sibling-chan comes to all games and harasses Semi worse than Tendou. Tendou loves Semi’s sibling. 

Tendou would be so supportive, and make sure his sibling would know how loved, and adorable they are. Sibling would pretend to hate it, but they really do appreciate it. They tease constantly, but know when a line is crossed. Tendou would be even worse than Semi when it comes to defending his family, he is not above scaring children. No mercy when it comes to games. 

Yamagata would be the cool brother, gives rides to the mall, and makes sure they have the coolest clothes. He has an open door policy, so his sibling can come in and rant whenever they need, he supports them 100%, and they have matching bracelets. Totally Yamagata’s idea. When his phone is lost, his sibling is the culprit 80% of the time. 

Kawanishi is a pretty laid back sibling, I don’t see them talking so much, as they just chill in the same room. They share memes, and text each other even if they’re in the same room. They can understand each other with just a look. He’s a little lazy, but if his sibling needs him he will be there ASAP with hot chocolate. 

Shirabu is super busy with school work and volleyball, so probably doesn’t spend much time with his sibling. He tags them in things they might be interested in, and they share clothes, either on accident or on purpose. They’re an unstoppable duo, and get whatever they want if they team up, likely getting them a dog or two. 

Goshiki would do anything for his sibling, and fight any number of playground bullies. He would teach them all about volleyball, and about how he’s going to be the best, to which his sibling would object and challenge him. Keep Ushijima safe, because these two would give him so many challenges. He would also be very good at braiding hair, and likes to brush his sibling’s hair. They spend just as much quiet time together as they do exercising.

So I grew up in your average US household with religious parents, attending church every Sunday. Now I never really connected with the other kids at church, and the services were always boring and repetitive. Kinda feel bad for the nonexistent god who has to endure a million of these every Sunday. There are a million good songs out there and poor god is stuck listening to shitty Christian music.

Anyway, my lack of emotional investment in religion made it easy for me to take my doubts seriously from the beginning. Generally, the community seemed very open to hearing these doubts, because they didn't believe that blind faith was a good enough reason on its own. So I asked questions like "Does this mean my friend is going to hell just because he happened to be born into the wrong religion?" which was followed by some unsatisfying answer like "That's why we're supposed to spread the Word". So basically, we're supposed to expect everyone else to take our religion seriously while we dismiss all other religions ourselves? And wtf is the point of evangelism if you believe in predestination (our church is Presbyterian)? Then they respond, "the outcome is inevitable, but it's a privilege to do God's work". Ok, so basically we're supposed to devote our lives to being a tool for a job that's already done?

Another example of a doubt was "why do we bother praying if God already has a plan?" They would say "we pray to have a personal relationship with God." I would ask "how can you have a personal relationship with someone we never see, hear, feel, etc? It seems indistinguishable from a 'personal relationship' with an imaginary friend." I don't even think they bothered to try to answer that one.

Now, my parents generally encouraged me to question these kinds of things, because it represented my interest in the religion. I told them that in Sunday School/Youth Group they give such inadequate responses to my questions, but they insisted that the programs offered by the church would get deeper as I got older. So throughout middle school and early high school years I sort of took the attitude that "I'm sure they're right, I just need to wait to get my doubts addressed properly." I didn't take religion very seriously, going to church was just a weekly routine, and I stopped going to Youth Group. Near the end of this period (at 15 years old), I decided that I actually wanted to get my doubts addressed. Around this same time, the church announced that they were going to do a mission trip to Mexico, where they would send many adults and youth. I thought this would be a great opportunity (plus I wanted to practice my Spanish) so my dad and I signed up.

Before we actually went, we were highly encouraged to ask for donations from people we knew, including friends and family. I had to write these embarrassing letters to people I knew, explaining the cause of the mission trip even though at that point very little information was given to us about what we would actually be doing.

Fast forward to the mission trip, and we're all in Mexico. Turns out that literally all we were doing was helping some random church run their VBS (Vacation Bible school). We youth were given very important tasks such as taping decorations to the walls, playing games with the Mexican children for an hour or so each day, and taking 15 minutes each day to pray by ourselves alone. By the end of the mission trip, I realized that a lot of money had gone into the trip and we accomplished absolutely nothing. I don't know what I expected, but I thought my efforts would go towards something productive.

As I said in the title, I became an atheist in the middle of this trip. This happened when I overheard a conversation among the adults while I was resting. One of the adults was going off about how several dead people in Haiti have been observed walking around like zombies, and that scientists can't explain it. And that this was evidence of demonic possession or some BS like that. It was at this point that I realized how ridiculous religion is. Belief in such a ridiculous claim does not even deserve consideration. And even though this guy may be particularly looney, his claim is just as ridiculous as all those Bible stories we're indoctrinated to accept. So this particular event made me realize that I shouldn't assume god exists unless I have evidence.

The next few months or so I searched online for the evidence, mostly through watching debates, and surprisingly all the apologists' arguments were equally inadequate to those of the youth group leaders. Whenever they presented a purely "logical" argument, god was always defined so vaguely it just as easily could be the Flying Spaghetti Monster. And I quickly dismissed historical arguments on the basis that if god exists now, you shouldn't have to look into the past.

The whole situation was kind of funny. I've had conversations like: "What did you do over the summer?" "I went on a mission trip." "Oh, I didn't know you're religious." "I'm not." O_o

Since the mission trip, which happened about 3 years ago, I told my parents I'm an atheist. I know everyone here says not to, but I made my own judgment based on my relationship with my parents. Now I don't have to go to church, my parents didn't take away my college funds, and the only downsides are occasional passive aggression and awkwardness. But that's better than pretending to be someone you're not.

TL;DR: I went on a mission trip. All we did was help a random Mexican church run a VBS. While I was there, I overheard an adult make some ridiculous claim about Haitian zombies being evidence of demonic possession. So I realized how ridiculous religion is. This all happened 3 years ago. I told my parents, and they've been pretty cool about it overall.
