The Secret Keeper is the only vault god you can make sacrifices to. Gives you additional hearts/healing ability in the vault if you do a task it gives you

Ok so I LOVE the Vault Gods and I'm already going crazy from the Hermitcraft Vault Hunter series, so here are my headcanons for which of the participating hermits will find favour with which gods, and why. This has nothing to do with their play styles btw this is entirely guessing based on vibes:

BdoubleO100 - Clock boy will worship clock god. Wendarr loves time. Can't wait to see him build a temple to Wendarr outside the vaults.

EthosLab - Tenos. The man is a loot goblin and the promise of treasure will be irresistible to him. This also makes VH! Bdubs and VH!Etho into Loot&Scoot

FalseSymmetry - I was originally going to say False would go for Idona but I actually think False is more of a Velara kind of gal?

Hypnotizd - I'm feeling Idona for Hypno. Seeing him in the first vault he was so focused on Killing he completely missed mining up four different ore POIs... in part because he didn't know they were treasure!

iJevin - Speedrunner go fast. Wendarr.

ImpulseSV - I watch Impulse a lot but I'm finding him hard to pin down! Currently thinking he might be drawn towards Idona for the shard shopping? Or maybe Wendarr because yellow.

Iskall85 - In his other SMPs Iskall usually seems to be drawn towards Velara I think, but here he seems more Wendarr or Tenos aligned? Maybe it's just because he's using the early episodes to help his friends find their footing with the vaults and the gods? But let's be real - Iskall is too ingrained in the vaults themselves to fully belong to any one god over the others.

JoeHills - I feel like Joe is incredibly Wendarr aligned already, not least because of his philosophical musings on the way time passes differently in vaults.

Rendog - Do you think Rendog the bloody handed king will be able to pass up the worship of a god like Idona? For real? Like Bdubs, I expect to see a temple built outside the vaults.

StressMonster101 - Stress is giving either Velara or Idona vibes to me, mostly because of Muscle Vaults I think. Either health or strength, you know?

VintageBeef - Beef is building a battle royale arena for his card game on hermitcraft, so his friends can fight to the death to get better cards instead of buying them from him. Idona.

Welsknight - Wels has played Vault Hunters before, and is always asking questions. I feel like Tenos is the knowledge god? So Tenos to me.

xBCrafted - XB went in to the first vault with no healing? Velara worshipper already if you ask me.

Xisumavoid - X took time in the first vault to gather blocks for his base, both at the beginning and at the end of his run. This is SUCH a Wendarr move to me.

Was watching Iskall's Vault Hunters series and it really started to hit me just how much of the lore of the Vaults feels vaguely Watcher-related. For example the Vault God named Wendarr, who the more I look at the more I feel is connected to Martyn. Time alignment because of Limited Life? Same color palette? And then you realize each of the other three Vault Gods could correspond to the rest of the players who've ascended because of the Watchers (minus Scott because the Watchers hate him). Idonna Red? That's Grian. Velara Green? Saint Pearl. Tennos Blue? BigB or Scar. I dunno man, but from now on, all the Watchers in my fanfic are gonna be named Wendarr, Idonna, Tennos, and Velara.

But the gods themselves are still stuck in the realm of the Vaults, and their powers are being drained by the distance between the realms. As someone who hasn’t been able to keep up with S3 as much this is awesome!!

But also if you’re interested in seeing more of the Vault Gods personalities then I have a handy little google doc with every time they spoke in game during VHSMP S2 as they spent the whole season talking to both the Hunters and us (chat) the Observers outside of their messages when a favour activates!

As someone who ADORES the Vault Gods I’m super excited to see Vault Hunters reach a wider audience because look guys we have lore too!!

vault god facts for the new vault hunters watcher

so, there are four in-game vault gods. however, you'll sometimes hear people like hbomb refer to the "vault gods" when talking about the vault hunters devs. that, or blaming the name of douwsky, the janitor. those are not the gods i'm referring to here but ask me about my iskall headcanons as a result of this sometime.

each god has altars in the vault, which will ask for a specific sacrifice in order to give you favor with that god. they also have idols, which raise your favor and have bonuses depending on which god the idol belongs to (as well as bonuses to things like amount of mana and how fast you recover from status effects).

having favor with a god can confer upon you bonuses within the vault, and has a compounding effect the more favor you have.

raising favor with one god will eventually lower favor with another (assuming update 12 keeps that mechanic), so the hermits will eventually develop certain gods they each individually have more of an affinity towards, depending on their play style. this can be seen in the vault hunters stat screen, so keep an eye out!

you used to be able to get negative favor with the vault gods, and they'd hurt you in the vault. this has largely been removed in this version of vault hunters (unless they put it back in update 12, i haven't quite caught up with the mechanical rework from this update). pete had a whole arc about this in season 2 of vh smp.

when vault god favor activates at the start of a vault, the gods have quotes they state in the chat. from these, you can pick up a bit of their personalities.

they have official art! that being said, even with this official art, people like to interpret them a lot of ways, so go crazy go nuts!

it seems the final boss may have something to do with these figures...

the four gods are as follows:

idona, the malevolent is the red vault god. their altar asks you to kill mobs as sacrifice. when you have favor with idona, you earn more soul shards while killing, have higher strength, and are more effective at killing mobs.

tenos, the omniscient is the blue vault god. their altar asks you to give up levels as a sacrifice. when you have favor with tenos, you find more items while looting, those items are rarer, and generally you'll get more out of the vault.

wendarr, the timekeeper is the yellow vault god. their altar asks you to give up mana as sacrifice. when you have favor with wendarr, mana regenerates faster, you can have more time in the vault, and generally things that take time will move more in your favor.

velara, the benevolent is the green vault god. their altar asks you to give up health as sacrifice. when you have favor with velara, you can get regeneration, have more hearts, and generally you'll be healthier and heal faster. additionally, velara is the god that punishes you for using healing potions in the vault by cutting your healing efficiency by a large amount. only use vault potions if you don't want to anger them.

the abyss but what it looks like is based off of the hunters memories. it expands with each death in a vault, taking bits and pieces and building, creating something that should feel familiar to the hunters, something they should want to trust, something that is every so slightly Wrong

sparkly doesnt die in the abyss in the funky abyss au but he is in there fairly willingly and the abyss is able to poke around his head and go shopping for landscaping ideas. helps that he remembers the forest of the abyss fondly

So basically the vault gods and their favours remain mostly a mystery (we’ll be told what they do at the end of the season tho!)

The favours influence things inside of the vault to do with that specific god e.g Wendarr the timekeeper gives you less time on the vault timer if you have a negative favour for them.

I wouldn’t say powers more like influences as they all control domains which match their titles e.g Idona is the Malevolent so they rule over mobs and attack hence why their altar is a mob kill altar and their idol can roll leech and extra attack!

The 4 gods are Velara the Benevolent (green, health altar), Tenos the Omniscient (blue, exp altar), Wendarr the Timekeeper (yellow, time altar) and Idona the Malevolence (red, mob kill altar)

Vault Hunters viewers I have a question: how do the vault gods work? I see each player has different favour with them, but what does this physically do/mean? Does this affect their vaults or the loot they can get? Do the gods ever physically appear/talk in chat/interact with the players? Do they have genders and appearances or specific powers? Basically if someone could give a basic overview and rundown of them it would be much appreciated

I want to talk about the Vault Gods and my design process

Each idol was drawn as though they were statues or altar peices, something of worship not necessarily what the gods look like but what the villagers would interpret their looks to be.

First I wanted to ensure that they looked like villagers, or have a villager template. The initial drafts has them with their arms together in a villager pose.

Each design had multiple aspects I gave them, a material, a gem, a minecraft mob, and an item

Idona The Malevolent, kill and sacrifice the marked to appease this god

The idol is designed after cinnabar a toxic red material with high levels of mercury.

Idonas item is the vault hunters altar with reference and designs inspired by Mayan and Aztec sacrificial alters.

They are designed to look like a bat and a Wolf with lots of sharp angles and shapes, with cultish and sacrifical undertones

The eyes are rubies, a gemstone that symbolises life force. They are cut with a 5 point star facet and bezel with means the eyes are also pentacles, there is also a hidden sacrificial knife in the eyes.

They say experience makes you wiser, but is it wise to give it up for treasure? Sacrifice your experience and knowledge to Tenos the Omniscient to be granted treasure beyond your wildest dreams.

Tenos is made of silver or iron, a pure metal that is reflective

Tenos has the enchanting table book, a potion of enchanting and xp balls

They are designed with a lot of softer rounder shapes compared to its counterparts and is based on a polar bear with angelic bird wings to give it a wise and pure vibe.

The eyes are sapphires, with a gemstone meaning of focus and inner vision. Tenos also is the one one to wear a gemstone accessory to give the allusion to a third eye.

Velara The Benevolent, sacrifice your health, sacrifice yourself to appease Velara, only then will you gain the riches

The idol is designed to look like oxidised copper. I wanted Valara to look like an old and ancient god from a forgotten religion, the kind where you find a forgotten statue in a forest overgrown with new life.

The like all the idols, it focuses on a theme relating to what you use to open the altars, so Valaras design is health or in this case life.

Velara has the fern and tall grass as its minecraft item.

Initially designed to be more rabbit like the design ended up becoming vague in animal and more bug like.

The eyes on Valara are emeralds that symbolise rebirth and growth.

Wendarr The Timekeeper, you only have limited time, will you sacrifice some of it to this god for riches?

Wendarr is a brass idol, a very common metal for clocks and timepieces to be made from.

Wendarr is designed to look the most like a villager with wings similar to that of DaVincis flying machine.

Unlike the other gods, Wendarr did not receive a minecraft item as I felt the minecraft clock did not fit the ancient and old aesthetic. Instead, they received an hourglass and an alluded clock face in the background, and some rococo inspired designs in the foreground.

The eyes are made of topaz, which apparently stands for manifesting clarity and astrology?

Anyway that's my thought process and some small details about each God and my designs.

i think we need to hc c!fundy, c!tubbo, and c!hbomb worshiping the vault gods in the dsmp more. tubbo and fundy both wasting company time that quackity can't do anything about because it's for a religious reason. both of them being too ill to work the next day after doing a health sacrifice ritual for velara. leaving for days at a time killing mobs. getting horrified reactions after getting rid of good enchantments for tenos. c!hbomb hasn't been appearing too much lately? accidently scarfriced a little TOO much time to wendarr and is now feeling the consequences

So with VH, there is a bit of lore!

In the TLDR; Basically the players need to collect all the artifacts (amount changes by season) and at the end of the season, if you have them all you get to go to the final vault! It's Implied that the world basically is ending and it's in order to escape/save(?) the world.

Theres also 4 gods, who each have a domain that corresponds to certain favors you can get by making sacrifices to altars. Each favor grants you buffs/nerfs in vaults. There is Idona the Malevolent (PVP), Tenos the Omniscient (Luck), Velara the Benevolent (Health) and Wendarr the Timekeeper (Time) and last season they spoke a fair bit and held event competitions that would curry special rewards for winning players.

Vaults are timed dungeons with objectives, each one can roll negative and positive modifiers that can add more loot, harder mobs, etc.

Tubbo joined last season and was first adopted by Captainsparklez, who has basically gone on record to go, yes, this is my son. And Tubbo moved in to his base unannounced and would regularly just show up lol. Eventually Iskall came to an agreement later in the season where Tubbo would get access to some expensive resources if he was adopted. It has then evolved into a iskall approved, canon family relationship. Its just a really wholesome thing honestly, VH is one big family dynamic its great (as explained here! https://twitter.com/pomodoko/status/1488176306625949697 )

And because Tubbo just seems to inspire people into adopting him, new hunters Abe and Ryan have also gone, yeah we are adopting you and we cannot be stopped.

If you wanna watch last seasons, I think only Captain has all vods saved onto his second channel Captainsparklez 2. Towards the later half of S2 tubbo started to show up more on Captain's stream so theres just nice wholesome vod's that I hold near and dear to my heart there lol

vault hunters goes way deeper then i realized! the world ending (possibly) sounds really interesting and i'm eyeing those gods so hard. love gods in SMP lore. it sounds a lot like DND with the modifier rolls and everything so i'm officially far more interested then I was a few hours ago

i hope tubbo keeps getting forcefully adopted that's so fucking funny
