Amor Non Exurat Flamma - Chapter 35

After much frustration at my lack of word flow, I do apologize it's not quite up to my normal standards, but we're rolling with a new chapter. (^_^)

Summary: Finally arriving back in Hammerhead to pick up a repaired Regalia, Cid's gift has more to say than what he knew.

Warnings: Very slight warning due to creepy doll effects, and mildly spicy kiss.

“Noct’s right, PomPom. If it came from Niflhelm, who knows what it might do when it’s exposed to your special ability.” Prompto’s hand tensed as she wrapped her fingers around his, a slight squeeze politely asking him to release it, and a sharp pain slashed across the thin skin between her thumb and palm. “Ow! What the hell?” It felt like something had bitten her. Holding her palm up to the light, bright red blood oozed from six tiny puncture holes in her glove, each one no bigger than the tip of a pen and equally as round. Her brows shot straight up in disbelief. “It bit me!” The last word had left her lips when the doll blinked. It’s head twisting to the left, then to the right. Like a bird casually observing its surroundings, and the deadly jaw parted. Allowing a silver tongue to playfully flick across those bloody fangs, and her blood chilled to Shiva’s strongest ice as the lips pulled up into a delighted grin. The blue eyes brightened to twin-star level, and Lucian blue light finished blinding her retinas into submission. A weapon of some sort appeared in everyone’s hand, and she couldn’t see it, but the familiar silky kiss of cool steel pressed against her fingers. “What the ever living fuck was that?” Noctis spat, the sharp tip of his own Engine Blade hovering next to her left ear.

Amor Non Exurat Flamma - Chapter 34

Summary : A surprising walk through old memories leads to a surprising and confusing new revelation.

Warnings: None. It's a mostly happy chapter.

Sixteen years ago…  “Now, Ignis. When His Majesty introduces the young prince Noctis to you, it is of the utmost importance that you offer your hand in greeting first.” Uncle Caton flashed a single finger up in the air, stalling the question hovering on the tip of Ignis’s tongue, and he dipped his head in acknowledgment. Allowing the golden sunlight to reflect off the lens of his spectacles, Ignis couldn’t make out his uncle’s eyes which were so like his own, but he could very well feel their weight on his shoulders. “Yes, I know it breaks proper etiquette rules, but the prince is quite timid when meeting someone new. And according to my research, the most likely approach to gain his trust would require you to make the first move. Do you understand?” “Yes, sir!” Ignis bobbed his head, the sudden tilt making his new spectacles slide down his nose, and he pushed them back up with a finger on each side of the lens. They still felt too big, but Uncle said he would grow into them, and they didn’t pinch his nose like the last pair did.
