Plot: Your muse is a wealthy man, Roman or otherwise enjoying a private gladiator match

Varro had been defeated by his friend Spartacus in the private gladiator match held in your honor... would he die or be spared?

Perhaps the wealthy patron would be merciful and Varro's luck could still change, opinion swayed by the blond gladiator's pleading blue eyes or the thick muscle on display.

But he still lost.

What would happen to him now? Would he die or would he be allowed to return to the gladiator ludus to train more... or would he be send to the underground fighting pits or worse, sold to work himself to death in the salt mines? Or perhaps the wealthy patron himself would like to buy him.

The owner of these gladiators, Batiatus, was a relentless social climber eager for your favor so it was entirely up to you.

What are your queer headcanons for Spartacus characters? I'm curious 👀

Some of these are based on stuff in canon, others are just me thinkin' my thoughts. They're also for characters who aren't explicitly shown to be queer, such as Nasir, Agron, Saxa, Lucretia, and so on.

Spartacus is bi or pan. He was absolutely in love with Varro, and I think he also had a thing for Crixus and Nasir (Granted, I think everyone had a thing for Nasir and it's only because Agron made a move first that he didn't have half the camp vying for his affections.) The scene in Fugitvus where he and Aurelia are talking about what made them love Varro- "A lop-sided grin, eyes promising mischief."

Like, what about that doesn't scream being in love?

Also, fun fact, before Liam McIntyre took the role, Wentworth Miller was being considered for Spartacus, and I am going to daydream about that forfuckingever while sending Steven DeKnight mental messages to cast him in the new series that's supposed to be coming up.

Crixus is demi. He says that he's not interested in sex when he first joined the ludus, and it's only when he falls for Naevia that he's shown being attracted to anyone. And when Naevia finds herself sex repulsed, he's cool with their relationship not being physical. I know this isn't strictly an ace thing but I still love it.

Gannicus is one that I can't decide exactly. I firmly believe that he and Oenomaeus were in love with each other as much as they were with Melitta. The running theme throughout the show of characters talking of being reunited with their loves in the afterlife, then having Oenomaeus being there waiting patiently for Gannicus when he dies is amazing, I can't lie.

Lugo was one of the dozen or so men who probably would have enjoyed a bit of bed warming from Nasir. They're both so flirty with each other as time goes on. He strikes me as being 'Pretty women? Yeah! Pretty men? Yeah! Pretty individual who is neither man nor woman? Yeah! Lugo love all! Come to my tent, pretty person! Lugo will keep you warm!'

Caesar is.... Well, he's Caesar, so I'm genuinely surprised there weren't any scenes of him fucking his way through the rebellion.

why did mira and spartacus annoy you? (they annoyed me too)

Well, because with Mira, I was just like, he does. not. love you. And the whole point is that she loves him because he doesn't love her, because he loves Sura so fiercely and so completely and that just doesn't do anything for me, and her whole let's have sex so you can "give me a pale shadow" or whatever of the passion he carries for Sura and then she'll help him with his cause had me like, GIRL, PLEASE.

And then in the later seasons when they start having sex, I just remember being like, why though? Like, she ends things because they stay true to the fact that he simply cannot love her because he can't love a woman who isn't Sura but I felt that they dimmed the passion he had for Sura and part of that was Liam just didn't have the gravitas that Andy did but I just didn't believe that Andy's Spartacus would seek comfort or reprieve in Mira or in anyone, or at least not do so sexually, especially considering how entwined his love for Sura was with having sex with Sura, like it just didn't feel like he would ever seek out sex again, he was beyond base needs like that, it was kind of part of the making of his legend, all he was was burning vengeance for Sura and then Varro and then everyone enslaved by the Romans.

the fucking audacity of numerius. i forgot that the demonstration in ep 1.09 was supposed to be between spartacus and crixus but at the very last second numerius changes it to be between spartacus and varro. and you can see batiatus pause and is just like ‘this fucking kid is telling me what to do in my own house.’ but he allows it. and then numerius is like um no actually this IS a fight to the death

and im not excusing batiatus here but you could tell he did not want to do what this kid wanted, yet he felt backed into a corner. now had he said no, or attempted to make some other deal or something his down fall would have happened much later, because it is varro’s death that gets the ball rolling. and maybe he would have had the room not been full of influential romans batiatus was trying to gain the favor of. it should have been calavius who put his foot down and told his son no, and you know i do give batiatus props for you know later killing calavius and successfully blaming solonius that was so smart. he’s a terrible person but he’s fucking brilliant
