Will Byers: Be gay do crime, amirite?

Growing up means putting away childish things, choosing between marrying a woman or remaining celibate, becoming a wage slave with no free time, and accepting that this is how life works.
Fuck that!
Will would rather spend his time doing things he actually enjoys with the people he loves, and if he has to break some of society’s rules to do so... well, clearly the rules were bullshit to begin with and deserve to be broken.

But the spark of defiance we see in the van is a smoldering ember compared to the fire of S3.
Will jokes about Vegas and D&D, but that’s all it is -- a joke. Getting to spend the rest of his life with Mike has begun to feel like a silly fantasy, akin to using superpowers to commit fraud as a minor.
It doesn’t occur to him that Mike’s cries for help could be because he wants to escape comphet, not be pushed further into it. He weeps quietly over his self-inflicted heartache, back turned and mouth smothered, like there’s something unreasonable about his feelings.

What happened to the brazenly authentic boy who openly admitted that he expected to spend his life with Mike? Where’s the offended boy who called Mike out on his performative heterosexuality? The furious boy who screamed and sobbed and swore as he felt society’s homophobic standards closing in on him with all the inevitability of growing older?

Will is authentic and headstrong, but even he is getting slowly crushed under the boot of forced conformity.
Some of the GA think this is an acceptable outcome; just an inevitable part of growing up gay in the 80s. It’s realistic and relatable. Great queer rep!
Others decide that Will should become a villain -- after all, hasn’t he earned the right? The narrative has done nothing but torture him, so doesn’t he deserve to go a little apeshit? As a treat?

Henry Creel: Be gay do crime, amirite?
Henry is scathingly critical of society’s rules. He refuses to compromise his true nature by playing along, and no amount of punishment can force him to change.
His backstory is presented in a way that makes it difficult to sympathize with him -- I mean, ok, maybe he didn’t deserve to be jailed and tortured when he was just a child, but surely the Soteria was necessary, right? He’s dangerous.

But the real threat that Henry poses isn’t his willingness to kill -- it’s the power he has to rewrite the rules. And both he and his oppressors know it.
By locking him up (forcing him into the closet), torturing him (subjecting him to homophobia), and implanting him with Soteria (castrating him), they stripped him of agency and reduced his options to a rock and a hard place:
Continue suffering in obedient silence.
Go apeshit and commit whatever atrocities are necessary to escape. Embrace his role as the villain in a story where people like him aren’t allowed to be the heroes anyway.
(Hmm, those are same options that Will is expected to choose from. What an interesting yet surely meaningless coincidence.)
The tragedy of Henry’s story is that he did end up conforming to the rules in the end.
He didn’t choose the option his oppressors would have preferred, but he did choose an acceptable one -- he became the monster they’d already branded him as. Once upon a time his fellow outcasts might have gladly allied with him, but now they’re forced to stop him.

I love the symbolism of this shot. El’s rainbow is larger and pushes Henry back, while his is upside down, foreshadowing how the battle is going to end -- but more than that, it symbolizes their approaches in battle.
The motivation that Henry is using comes from the same place as El’s -- a desire for self-preservation, to defy authority, to fight for the rights of fellow outcasts -- but his has been twisted. He advises her to use a memory of injustice that makes her feel angry and sad...

...and while it’s very effective, it’s not enough. It isn’t until she thinks of a memory that makes her feel loved that she’s able to gain the upper hand.

Interestingly, the lights surge around her as she does this, bathing her in an ethereal white glow:

It fits the symbolism of the rainbow room perfectly -- after all, what is white light if not a focused rainbow?
But more importantly: where have we seen this before?

Will Byers carries the light with him wherever he goes, because he has the benefit of something Henry was cruelly robbed of: the unconditional love and acceptance of his family and friends, which helped hinder society’s efforts to crush the authenticity out of him.
So why should Will suffer the same fate as Henry? What’s stopping him from being the hero and earning the happy ending he wants, instead of the tragic ending homophobes expect him to settle for?
Like Henry, Will has the power to rewrite the rules -- and this time, they’re actually going to be rewritten.

Mattress Saga - I don't know if I shared any of this story before, so you're getting the whole thing now, even if some of it is a repeat.
Short version: we bought a mattress, it was terrible, the return process was difficult, and then we bought a new mattress.
Last fall, we decided to upgrade from a queen to a king bed based on how much better we sleep when we're in a big bed at a hotel. We were sleeping separately more often than not, or starting together and then one of us moving to the other bed because we needed space to flop to try to get comfortable. We ordered a bedframe to be delivered months later, and then bought a mattress recommended by a trusted source. She and her husband are similar in size to us and sleep in the same positions, and they loved this mattress, so I was like that sounds good.
The mattress we got was a DreamCloud Premier - one of the mattress-in-a-box ones. On their website it made it seem like it was medium-firm, more on the firm side than soft. OH MY GOODNESS it was SO SOFT. Like sinking down into it. It felt luxurious to lay on it and sink into it, but that level of support (none) was terrible overnight. My back was deeply unhappy.
Like most of the direct-to-consumer mattresses, there's some sort of guarantee and return window, and it was hurting me enough that we decided we had to return it. They don't let you initiate a return until you've slept on it for 30 days since bodies need to adjust, so I slept on it as much as I could and then have been sleeping in the guest room. When we were able to initiate the return, they were like "yep our return partner will come get the mattress from you" but then the return partner was like "we don't have reps in your area, so your options are to trash it or donate it and then prove you did that and don't still have it."
I didn't want to throw away a basically-brand-new mattress, but it's really hard to find charitable orgs that will take them. I know I could have donated it to a member of the community via facebook marketplace or similar, but I haven't had good experiences giving away free things on there (people require tons of back-and-forth and then never show up) so I asked around and found an org in Maryland that takes mattresses. That's almost an hour from us, but they do pickups for some items, including mattresses! Woohoo! Except they only come to our area every other month, and we had 30 days from initiating the return to proving we'd disposed of the mattress. Boo.
So we made plans to drive this mattress to Maryland, but then on the morning of, Ken is like "I don't think this is gonna work with my truck." And he was right, but maybe we should have thought of that sooner. We've moved full and queen mattresses on the truck before, but the king was going to be bigger than the truck bed by a lot, and we wanted to keep it as clean and nice as possible since we were donating it. New plan: we rent a small U-haul to pick up immediately and return in a couple hours.
The U-haul pickup process was its own miniature nightmare, but then we did okay at getting the mattress out of the house, down the stairs (townhouse! multiple sets of tight stairs! annoying!), and into the U-haul. Traffic was another miniature nightmare with parts of 495 closed, but we made it! And then we returned the van, and this morning I got the receipt from U-haul and it did not have any unexpected charges, which I was worried about. I sent in the appropriate forms to the return partner to prove we donated it, but it says to allow 2 business days before reaching back out. I'm anxious they'll somehow refuse our refund.
That was Saturday, and yesterday morning Ken pulled up consumer reports. They rank the mattress we had as a 2/10 on the firmness scale. That is MUCH more aligned with our experience than DreamCloud calling it something like a 7 on their website. He found us a few options he thought would be good based on our sleeping positions and we went to the store and laid on them. It is hard to get the salespeople to stop sales-ing, even when you're like "I want to lay on these three mattresses and pick one and buy it and not buy any extras. Nothing you say will alter this." The one we liked the best ended up being the cheapest of the three. We were looking for the specific ones Ken had identified, and when we found that one and started to lay on it, the guy was like, "Oh, that's a really cheap mattress. It's for students. You want one of the others." But then when he realized we liked it and were going to buy it and not one of the others, he was like, "That's a great mattress! You like it? You should buy it today!"
The checkout process was another nightmare. Sales guy was armed with a tiny tablet but not great at using it. He said our receipt would be emailed but I asked for a print version so I could look at it and make sure he'd put everything in right, since there were multiple stages during the checkout process where he made mistakes. But it looks like in the end we got the one we wanted, and it should come tomorrow. We paid for white glove delivery. Someone else can carry that up all those stairs - we've done it enough times by now.
Fingers crossed that this one feels good! I feel like it's so hard to tell by laying on it for a few minutes, but I could tell the other one was wrong immediately, so I think this should be fine. And only one more night together on the small bed!
#mattress saga#mattresses are such an insane thing to buy#branding them all differently to avoid comparison shopping#sales people who won't just let you like what you like#and then the pressure to pick well because you're gonna spend a lot of time there!

Julianne McShane at Mother Jones:
At a rally in Wildwood, New Jersey on Saturday, former President Donald Trump made many questionable comments. He called Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg “Fat Alvin.” He claimed migrant children “don’t speak English.” And he said that, if he’s re-elected, he will deport pro-Palestinian, antiwar protesters. “When I’m president, we will not allow our colleges to be taken over by violent radicals, and if you come here from a violent country and try to bring jihadism, or anti-Americanism, or antisemitism to our campuses, we will immediately deport you. You’ll be out of that school,” Trump said, to the crowd’s cheers. (You can watch the full comments for yourself at the 1:30:41 mark.) This is not the first time Trump has made similar promises: Back in the fall, he said he “will implement strong ideological screening for all immigrants,” and that those who “sympathize with jihadists” and “want to abolish Israel…[are] not coming into our country.” He added: “We aren’t bringing in anyone from Gaza.”
The comments come amid Republican-led efforts to brand all anti-war protesters as supporters of terrorism and a continued push to criminalize protest.
[...] These efforts seem to ignore the reality on the ground: As my colleagues and I have reported, many protesters and organizers have said they condemn antisemitism and have insisted that gatherings on campuses—including some in which administrators have called the cops—have been peaceful. Some of those on the right condemning all anti-war protesters have gone beyond calling for enforcement. Last month, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) said people “who get stuck behind the pro-Hamas mobs blocking traffic” should “take matters into your own hands to get them out of the way.” (He later claimed he wasn’t endorsing violence.) And earlier this month, Cotton introduced a bill called the “No Bailouts for Campus Criminals Act” that would make anyone convicted of a crime in connection with a campus protest ineligible for student loan relief.
Donald Trump and Republican politicians such as Sen. Tom Cotton and Rep. Beth Van Duyne are giving to support vile bills deporting protesters supporting Palestine against Israel’s genocide in Gaza and criminalize protests against Israel Apartheid under the guise of stopping antisemitism.

Guy Fieri and Sammy Hagar's tequila business took a major hit after two of their freight trucks carrying $1 million in products were stolen.
The celebrity chef, 56, and the former Van Halen singer, 77, are the co-owners of the tequila brand Santo Spirits. A representative for Hagar told Fox News Digital that the trucks were hijacked over the weekend of Nov. 9 in Laredo, Texas.
The missing trucks were carrying 24,240 bottles of Santo Blanco and Reposado as well as a specially made Extra Añejo, which was created over the course of 39 months.
Hagar's rep said "it appears this was an organized crime effort where the trucks were illegally double brokered to different carriers who transferred the product to their trucks" after they crossed over the border from Mexico to Texas.
"For a growing company like Santo, it's really a shame for something like this to happen in the middle of our strongest year to date and right before the holidays!" Hagar said in a statement to Fox News Digital.
"Anyone that knows business knows that this is a huge setback for any company in a hugely competitive market," the "I Can't Drive 55" rocker added. "But Guy and I will survive. Most of all, we're glad that nobody was hurt during this crime."
In an interview with People Magazine, Fieri said that he and Hagar learned of the heist on Nov. 14.
"We've worked so hard," the Food Network star said. "This is our best year we've ever had in Santo. We just had all this momentum, and now whatever's on the shelf is all people are going to get."
Fieri told People that workers at their Mexican distillery were "on a 24/7 schedule right now" to replace the stolen tequila.
However, Fieri said that it was unlikely that they would be able to fully replenish their tequila supply in time for the holidays, during which Santos Spirits typically sees its highest volume of sales.
The "Ultimate Recipe Showdown" alum told People that "someone could be trying to break the momentum" that their tequila business had gained in the marketplace.
Fieri also expressed his surprise that two trucks were targeted by the thieves.
"I mean, one is one. But now you've got to have double the amount of people to pull off the double heist," Fieri said. "It just seems so much riskier to take two trucks."
Santo Spirits president Dan Butkus told People that he was worried about how the theft of the total 440 cases of tequila would impact their distillery and their employees.
"Our distiller is an independent distiller who's dependent on our sales for his livelihood and that of his team," Butkus said. "My sales team, my marketing team, the entire Santo Spirits team is dependent upon these sales."
"That's sort of the piece that's most hurtful to me," he added. "We've got to support these people both at the distillery and in the U.S., and we can't do it right now without the revenue from these cases."
People reported that the crimes are being investigated by Laredo Police Department, Los Angeles' Cargo Criminal Apprehension Team and the federal cargo theft prevention and recovery network CargoNet.
Fieri is offering a $10,000 reward to anyone who can locate the missing trucks.
He told People that he is especially hoping to recover the Extra Añejo. "It's like the crown jewel of the company, something that we've been working on," he explained. "You can't reproduce something that takes four years to make."
"It's like a movie — I never in a million years thought this was coming down the pike like this," Fieri said of the heist. "But it's real."

First off, thank you for your enthusiasm Wintyr :D
There's at least three AFI notes I could think of -- the invite from Clandestine, the Miss Murder note, and the invite from Hidden Knives. I needed something to rep Blood so I went with HK in the sketch, but I'm reconsidering it since it's not as iconic or legible. It's hard to think of other Blood rep besides putting the triangle/blood drops logo somewhere. (A Snow Cats themed plush does sound cool, like if it had a "cutie mark" of the logo??) Miss Murder should get representation though. Would a few knives poorly hidden within the piece count as a Hidden Knives reference...?
The icy grey pants + pink shoes would probably only work if I do the piece in full color, but also damn I want to reference it lol! Maybe alternatively I could hide a muddy bike to represent the "filthy bike-o"? I'm also now thinking about a) including the AFI-branded Vans, and b) drawing only a single shoe to thinly reference the iconic "is that not you're fucking shoe? You just wanted it because I touched it?!" from my first AFI concert.
I def need something from the Five Flowers mystery -- I actually took part of my name from it! (chopped the "char" off of "charlottenothing"). Will have to do some sleuthing to see if I can get any image references of the secret show tix. I have the ticket stub for "The Nightmare After Christmas" show in 2002 with the TNBC art on it, but maybe I can fit both.
Thinking about some other additions. I need is something to represent STS20 -- probably going with the leaf confetti for that. Also could use a 337 somewhere. I think I'm missing SYMAOYE rep...I considered doing the magic box where the album art was taken from, but that would be awfully complicated. Can't exactly do the entire ice cream truck from the Third Season mv. Something to do with threes??? Maybe I should go over the lyrics to try and find something. Black Sails needs something too -- perhaps a Malleus Maleficarum book?
Going off of your idea of using a photo of a kid with a mohawk, I think I could maybe pull off including at least one Polaroid & it would be fun to reference an old photo of Davey in particular. I know exactly which one I'd want to do, too. I can't find it offhand, but it's from the mid-90's when he had a mohawk & he's making a ridiculous face.
More possible ideas: the shovel from my beloved "goth mom" photoshoot circa 2002. Flowers referenced in their lyrics, perhaps the bouquet of flowers from the Dulcería mv. A pumpkin from the Totalimmortal mv. A (vegan) muffin, to reference Davey's quote in the Punk Rock Museum. CD's/vinyl of some of their big inspos like Misfits & The Cure.
I certainly have a lot to think about & research >:3

A Complete Guide to Choosing the Right Van Sales Management Software in Dubai
In the fast-paced, highly competitive market of Dubai, van sales play a critical role in industries like FMCG, beverages, dairy, and more. With tight schedules, expansive delivery routes, and the need for real-time updates, traditional sales processes are no longer enough. That’s where Van Sales Management Software comes in — offering automation, real-time tracking, inventory control, and more.
But with several options available in the UAE market, how do you choose the right van sales solution for your business? Let’s walk through this complete guide to help you make a smart, informed decision.
1. Understand Your Business Needs
Before exploring solutions, start by identifying your operational needs:
How many vans/sales reps are in your fleet?
Do you need real-time inventory updates?
Is route planning a major challenge?
Do you require offline functionality due to remote areas?
A clear understanding of your day-to-day challenges will help narrow down software that addresses them.
2. Look for Key Features
An ideal Van Sales Management Solution in Dubai should offer:
Mobile App Access: For sales reps to manage orders, payments, and invoices on-the-go.
Inventory Tracking: Real-time stock updates to avoid shortages or overstocking.
Route Optimization: Efficient route planning to save fuel and time.
Digital Invoicing: Instant invoice generation and customer signature capture.
Customer Management: History, preferences, and credit details at your reps’ fingertips.
Offline Mode: Continue operations even in areas with poor connectivity.
3. Check for Local Compliance & VAT Readiness
Dubai’s business ecosystem is governed by strict compliance and VAT laws. Your van sales software should:
Be VAT-enabled for compliant invoicing.
Offer local Arabic language support if needed.
Be compatible with UAE’s fiscal policies and invoicing standards.
4. Ease of Integration
Your new system should integrate seamlessly with your existing tools like:
ERP systems
Accounting software
CRM platforms
Inventory and warehouse management systems
Integration ensures data flows smoothly between departments, giving you complete control and visibility.
5. Scalability and Customization
Dubai businesses are often fast-growing and dynamic. Make sure your chosen solution is:
Scalable – to add users, vans, and new modules as you grow.
Customizable – tailored to your workflow, branding, or reporting requirements.
6. Security and Cloud Access
Data security is critical. Choose software that offers:
Cloud storage for accessibility and backup
Role-based access control to protect sensitive data
Data encryption for secure communication
7. Training and Support
No matter how great a tool is, without proper training and support, adoption will be slow. Look for providers who offer:
Hands-on training for your team
Onboarding assistance
Ongoing customer support based in the UAE
Regular software updates
8. Check Reviews & Ask for Demos
Before making your final decision:
Read case studies or testimonials from Dubai-based businesses.
Request a free trial or live demo to test usability.
Talk to the sales team and clarify all your operational needs.
Final Thoughts
Choosing the right Van Sales Management Solutions Dubai is not just about features — it’s about finding a solution that aligns with your unique workflows, compliance requirements, and business goals.
With the right system in place, your van sales operations can become more efficient, transparent, and profitable. Take the time to evaluate options carefully — your team and your bottom line will thank you for it.

We independently evaluate all recommended products and services. Any products or services put forward appear in no particular order. if you click on links we provide, we may receive compensation. At the beginning of the 2004 coming-of-age classic Mean Girls, the earnest protagonist Cady Heron gets led through the school cafeteria by recently made acquaintances Damian and Janis. Through the scene, the pair points out the varying cliques of the high school ecosystem. You have the cool Asians, the burnouts, the plastics, the band geeks. It’s a scene trotted out in every high school film and indeed in a lot of ways, you could say the same for every fashion week too. You have the streetwear crew making sure everyone sees them rolling up to the show, the stylish mid-century purveyors getting snapped by Garcon Jon outside, the Carhartt WIP dwelling workwear squad shuffling around at the back. Essentially though the moral of Mean Girls is that the way to survive is through avoiding being shoehorned into any of these factions. Instead it’s much more profitable to just take what you need from each and spin it into your own style. And so from this, we take you through each of the men’s style tribes in the fashion cafeteria, as told by the one friend from each that you want to take and make your own. Streetwear The Bomber Jacket Streetwear is a bit of a style mongrel. A sprawling, poorly defined movement that pinches from other styles, it’s taken pieces from skatewear and hip-hop down to mid-century style and the military. The bomber jacket is perhaps the thing that unites it all. It started life as a flight jacket worn by World War I pilots and has undergone various remodels, although the MA-1 model created exclusively for the US military by Alpha Industries is often regarded the quintessential bomber. It swapped the earlier fur collar for an elastic one that allowed more room for a parachute harness and bags of lasting cool. From then, the bomber jacket became more and more popular on civvy street, with two breaking points – its adoption by high fashion in the late eighties and early nineties thanks to Jean-Paul Gauthier and Raf Simons, and the ‘Kanye’ effect at the beginning of this decade when the rapper wore a customised MA-1 on his Yeezus tour. This is when streetwear truly took the bomber to its breast helped along by Alpha Industries collabs with labels like Stüssy, Bape and Comme des Garcons. The MA-1 silhouette is still the one to be seen in, the wide-cut across the chest blowing out the upper body proportions for a piece that pops whichever street you might be on. Wear it one size up with a hoodie underneath and jeans or cargo trousers down below. Bershka Skatewear Hoodie Skatewear is nothing if not comfortable. It’s kind of the whole point when everything is secondary to the skateboard and that sweet, sweet tarmac. The scene grew out of California in the mid-seventies alongside surf wear and there is much crossover between the two. Both sub-cultures adopted the hoodie, the hood being particularly useful at a time when skateparks were alien and getting to most of the best places to flip an ollie involved some sort of illegal trespassing. Logos and repping of particular skate brands and magazines showed other skaters how clued in you were. These days, if you see someone shipping a Thrasher hoodie it’s far less likely they read the magazine’s pages – they probably just saw Justin Bieber sporting one. Worn with loose, cropped jeans and Vans, a baggy hoodie is a good off-duty look, whether you queue for Palace or not. If you’re of the opinion that no grown man should be seen with comic flames on his clothes, then many high-street brands have co-opted the logo hoodie with their own faux-logos which are far more demure. If anyone asks, just tell them you only rep the underground brands. Bershka Techwear Shell Jacket If you haven’t heard of techwear, no sweat, you’re not alone. In the clearest terms it takes everyday utility garments and rethinks them with high-tech fabrics to make them more breathable, water-resistant, easier to move in and comfortable. What differentiates it from the other tribes that set their stall on functional style (of which there are a few) is that techwear pitches its tent firmly in the monochrome camp. Confused? Just imagine a ninja wearing The North Face and you’d be on the right tracks. The shape and cut of the garment is slim and tailored – a stand-out puffer jacket is no use for an incognito urban assassin. This is where the shell jacket comes into play. Cut to the hip, the shell jacket will be crafted out of a tough-as-nails, lightweight and waterproof technical fabric. It’s the armour no techwear ninja, nor yourself, can be caught without. The North Face at Asos Ivy League Cotton Button-Down Shirt Having originated on the campus of America’s top Ivy League universities preppy fashion (so-called because of the prep schools that supplied these universities with students) became a dominant force in menswear from the 1950s onwards. It has become a by-word for smart-casual, which goes some way to explaining the aesthetic, taking pieces from the smart category like the suit jacket and giving them a casual spin – hence the blazer. The same rule applies to the staple piece of the look, the cotton button-down. Taking the dress shirt as its blueprint, the Oxford cotton button-down, often referred to as the Oxford shirt, is softer and thicker in construction, which in turn makes it more casual. It’s as versatile as anything you own, slotting underneath a suit if needs must, but equally at home with chino shorts. However, it really shines when alongside other preppy staples such as a pair of chinos and a collegiate sweatshirt. Ben Sherman Mid-century Camp Collar Shirt A current fixture among the city-dwelling, fashion elite, mid-century differs from preppy style in the way it takes its turns from the fifties costume dramas that have littered our TV screens in recent years against pieces like the cotton button-down that have remained timeless. One strong example of this is in the short-sleeved camp collar shirt which returned big-time in 2018, the strong V-shape of the collar and the wide cut of the sleeves around the mid-bicep really playing up today’s gym-honed physiques. Current incarnations have been specifically designed to have that throwback vibe evoking peak fifties Americana. As was the style of the era, these floaty shirts work best kept neat and trim, preferably tucked into a pair of wider-legged trousers with some dandy loafers on your feet. This is what menswear was when Hollywood glamour defined style, not the constant attention-grabbing of the catwalk and Instagram. A welcome return in our book. Reiss Normcore Light-wash Jeans Normcore was never meant to be taken seriously. A playful portmanteau of ‘normal’ and ‘hardcore’, it’s main message was to avoid standing out stylistically to such an extent that you kind of stand out as a consequence. The main characters of nineties sitcom Seinfeld were resurrected as the four apostles of the tribe, a near two decades after that show left our screens. The three tenets of normcore were made plain and clear – thou shalt tuck your shirt in, thou shalt wear chunky dad trainers and thou shalt tie it all together with a pair of faded, loose and oh-so-comfy light wash jeans. It all sounded like hipster nonsense five years ago, but the healthy dose of nineties style makes normcore imperiously on-trend at the moment. Between the chunky trainers and the light wash jeans, it’s the denim that looks set to last longer. They provide a casual contrast against a darker tee up top while ably combining with lighter shades like beige and grey, too. And worn in the proper normcore manner they’re as relaxed and easy-going as Sunday morning brunch. River Island Gorpcore Hiking Boots Camping chic, Mountain glam, hiking vogue – whatever way you put it, gorpcore firmly puts the great outdoors inside your wardrobe. With the fashion pack seduced by technical, eco-conscious brands like Patagonia, Columbia, and The North Face, key pieces include windbreakers or cargo trousers but the real jewel in the gorpcore crown is the hiking boot. The influential street-style set has taken it under their wing as have high fashion brands like Gucci and Off-White. The best looking ones, however, remain under the ownership of those brands that have perfected the style over a number of years like Danner and Sorel (Moncler, too, if you have the cash), which offer the kind of rustic functionally you just can’t copy. Trouser wise you want to pair them with something hardwearing and slim. Airy, floaty wide-legged trousers are a firm no-no on this hike. Brunello Cucinelli Rocker Leather Jacket Rock and roll’s love affair with the leather jacket started in dribs and drabs through the fifties and sixties, briefly appearing on the shoulders of both The Beatles and Elvis Presley. It was in the seventies though when things started to get proper steamy. It was the era of punk, and four skinny lads from Queens, New York who popularised what has become the archetypal rock and roll outfit. Ripped jeans, faded band tee, and that tight leather jacket – no one did it better than the Ramones. You can add a pair of Chelsea boots and a camp collar shirt to that ageless equation – look to Arctic Monkey’s frontman Alex Turner for a killer modern interpretation – but the formula remains to this day. The jacket should be lightweight and cut close to the body like it did on Joey. A high-quality, full grain leather jacket will be stiff at first so will need wearing in before it’s soft enough to jump around the stage in. The Kooples Workwear Overshirt If you thought the fashion world was all about outrageous garms and highfalutin clobber, think again. Some of the most prominent style tribes at the moment are a direct antithesis to this preconception. Take workwear for example. The current style is inspired by the uniforms worn by manual labourers through the 20th century, and some of the key brands on the scene at the moment, like Dickies and Carhartt, started out in this way. Warmth, ease of wear and durability are all key components of the workwear outfit. Beanie hats, heavy boots, donkey jackets and corduroy trousers all have a place in the workers’ hall of fame. But the true all-star is the overshirt. Bridging the gap between winter and summer, this is maybe the ultimate layering piece, slotting over a tee in warm weather or between your knit and winter coat in the cold. The cut is a whole lot roomier than the cotton button-down which means it looks great in contrast with some slim jeans. Its unfussy demeanour also makes it safer to take a risk on a popping colour (mustard, primary checks) – just make sure your jumper or tee underneath offsets it with a neutral shade. Asos Athleisure Joggers If one thing sets the men of this generation apart from the ones before then it’s got to be the gym. We’re now at the stage where meeting someone without some sort of gym membership is rarer than grabbing a free squat rack in your post-office workout. And with this shift has come the rise of athleisure, clothes to wear to the gym but also in between when you can’t be arsed to shift out of your sloppy sweats or turn off Netflix. In colder climes, the jogger (or sweatpant) is a staple of the workout look. While clambering into work in the baggier versions of just a decade ago were a sure fire way of getting the sack, the modern athleisure jogger takes on a smarter approach, with a taper at the leg and a fine-gauge cotton construction that won’t sag at the knees. Make your pair navy or black and you might just avoid the beady eye of your boss. J Crew Mod Penny Loafers Mod fashion has seen a fair few competing subcultures crash and burn during their half a century embedded in menswear, from the zoot-suited Teddy Boys to the frilly blouse-wearing New Romantics. This is rooted in what mod style is, an essentially relaxed but smart style kept timeless by the evergreen nature of the pieces in its uniform: long-sleeve polo with the buttons done up, bold Harrington jacket smartly tucked over the top, slim trousers and of course, the ever-smart, always reliable penny loafer. It’s the latter which has really been able to transcend the subculture. The penny loafer wouldn’t look out of place in any of the other smarter menswear tribes on this list, from the Preps to the Rockers. They look best in contemporary looks with a pair of slim turned up jeans or shorts in the summer, minus the socks so you can just slip them on and off at will. Do bear in mind though that because of the cut of the shoe at the heel and the fact they’re made out of leather, the first few wears of a new pair are best with socks. Bleeding ankles are never a good look. GH Bass Source link

Friendly Removal in India from your local moving specialists
Entrust your valuable goods to a removals company you’re sure you can rely on by talking to about all your home and business moving requirements
If you’ve ever entered your favourite coffee shop and been served by an unfriendly barista, or had to call up a service provider’s customer support line and ended up in something of a battle with a sullen, unhelpful phone rep, then you certainly don’t need us to tell you how disheartening it can be.
At best, it’s a sour spot in what was otherwise probably a very enjoyable day, at worst, it’s the kind of service that leaves you feeling as though the business you’re dealing with don’t necessarily value you as a customer, and even to question whether they’re creating your products or services with as little effort as they put into their customer service.
Of course, you can always opt for a new coffee shop to get your morning caffeine fix, or simply pick up the phone to switch service providers if you’re unhappy with the service, yet when it comes to moving your most valuable goods from one place to another, there really are no second chances.
