Currently listening to LPR3 soundtrack... and I can't help myself but think that it ended... For some reason I can't even explain, because really, I can't understand, this series completely took my heart. It was 2017 when it began and now... everything ended, leaving a hole in my heart even though the finale was perfect.
I can't say how much I miss and will miss Leo and everyone, because all of them were so well-written that they were like true persons and not characters... Everything was so perfect, the circle closed itself, and everything was connected by the very first season. Leo and Vanessa's connection, the fact that he was her shadow because once, long before becoming a policeman, he saved her father, allowing her to be born... and yet, being unable to save her beloved Anna from death "because it was fate" and leaving their beloved daughter an orphan... it was painful, tragical and yet, so perfect... as if it was a karmic effect.
I'm happy that Vanessa the elder got her happy ending... she needed it too, after years of searching and suffering. I like to imagine that, one day, she will join the police as well, or little Vanessa will, following in the steps of her parents. I'm happy for Diego and Stella: Diego showed a maturity I couldn't even imagine, wanting to genuinely support his Stella (and it seems to me that in the end, they decided to keep the baby) and... he cherished both Anna and Leo.
And Anna... my beautiful homonym... Anna, who was the one and only for Leo and who loved Leo because "He is the man I've always loved and that I will love forever"... I honestly couldn't imagine that she would die... I expected some kind of closure between them, yes, but not her death... and yet, she figured everything out: the way everything was connected to Leo's very first investigation. Amongst all the characters, she was definitely the smartest and the most brilliant, Anna was exactly as Leo told: "I thought you couldn't keep my pace, but the truth is that I could never keep yours". And Leo, unable to save her, unable to prevent her to cross the red door, could just share one small fragment with her, before screaming desperately about his being powerless... so, what remained to him was the hope that once crossed the red door, they would be together again... and I hope that it could happen...
I appreciate a lot that it wasn't shown: only the dead should know what it's after: we just can imagine. And the fact that Leo told us that it was his final investigation... it was great, simply.
So, farewell, Leonardo Cagliostro, you'll be missed, and with you, your wonderful and tragic story! 😭❤️❤️

About “It’s not impossible” lyrics
The tv version of this amazing opening has always had some sense of fascination. It perfectly sums up the way Cagliostro feels, being trapped in the realm of the livings and compelled to sees life going on without him (please, take a listening <3).

Looking through a cloud
I've got to let you know
I've been crying out loud
How could you let me go Trieste is a cloudy and rainy city in this series. Leonardo died during an action, during a heavy rain night. During the first episodes, he literally cannot accept the fact that he’s dead. He struggles, he cries out loud because he knows he still has a lot of things to do, first of all, protecting Anna from the man who killed him and wants to kill her too. Yet, there’s some kind of resentment for her. They loved each other in their unique way. They were so different: Anna is wealthy, she’s his District Attorney, and he is a reckless and stubborn detective with a shady past. They argued a lot, especially because he often challenged her. That’s also why they fell in love. Anna was fascinated by his mind and his attitude (that’s why she chose Leo instead of Piras, who was the reliable one), but she was also truly p*ssed off when he acted on his will, putting his life in danger. They got married but after their wedding, things got complicated. Incomprehension came and they were almost on the verge of divorce because Leo had a brief affair with Stella (who ended up being Anna’s best friend after Leo’s death and a spy from another department) and Anna, who found herself pregnant, didn’t know how to handle things. Leo’s death was an insuperable trauma for both of them. During the powerful scene after Rambelli (Leo’s mentor and in the end, killer) tells Anna that her husband is dead on duty, Anna breaks and screams, hating Leo for having left her behind, while Leo, just a few days before his death, after their last intimate meeting, told Anna “Ask me to stay”. So, “How could you let me go”. I wonder if Leo thought that if Anna had told him those words, his death wouldn’t have occurred. A single twist of fate
I thought we had it all
But we can work it out
It's not impossible (x4)
What’s this single twist of fate? I believe it refers to the fact that Leonardo didn’t cross the red door. He decided to stay. He decided to remain and protect his wife and their unborn child. Yet he can’t protect her from everything. He desperately fights in order to break the walls which separate him from the livings. He learns how to interact, how to mess up with the plan of the livings. He tries to make Anna feel that he’s still there, for her. It’s not impossible. But it requires a strong bond that goes beyond life and death.
You can see me when I'm not here
You can feel me when
I breathe underneath the skin
We're only human
A particular thing is that ghosts appear to feel. Leo, even if dead, can be affected by the rain, for example. He feels pain, he still can cry, can scream, can breathe. He often tries to touch Anna’s cheek, even if she just feels a chill. During the second season, he tries to hug both her and little Vanessa, partially succeeding (Anna is able to feel his presence and sees him for an instant). She can see him, but she can’t do anything to let him stay. That’s why Anna, at the end of the second season, thanked him for having protected both her and their daughter during that time, but she also asked him to go. Anna feels exactly the same pain. She can’t live without Leo, but Leo is gone and can't come back anymore, not the way she needs. Life must go on for her and for Vanessa. Leo too acknowledges (he even admitted that Piras would have been a far better father for his child than he, even if he never liked him... and we know how the story ended: Anna perhaps might move on with Jamonte, who shares many traits with Leo, instead of Piras, who’s dead either).
I will walk these streets
Looking for you reach out
Touch me, touch me
Oh, It's not impossible
It's not impossible (x4)
A frequent image is Leo walking the streets of Trieste, among the passing cars. He always tried to find a way to reach Anna (said above). And yet, there’s a moment in the first season when it happened. The two of them are able to touch. It’s when Anna was almost dead. She had a near-death experience. She realized that Leo had always been with her the whole time. She didn’t want to leave him, even after the lies, the sins, every bad thing she found out about him. “I want to stay where you are”. Yet she cannot. Leo, greeting her with his iconic way of greeting, pays his farewell, asking her to come back for the sake of their daughter. During the second season, they “interact” in Anna’s dreams (which are quite frequent). Anna is aware that the one she sees in her dreams isn’t Leo, but he was the voice of her conscience. To “him” she confessed how inadequate she feels as a mother (the dream sequence with young Vanessa) after she acted like a fugitive during her trial (interesting that it happens after she had seen Jamonte singing with his daughter), as well as a wife (she had forgiven Leo’s affair, but she feels regret for her feelings for Jamonte). Yet, at the end of the second season, the two of them seem to have made peace. Anna was ready to move on (but she really is?) knowing that the man she loved, loves and always will love is in her heart, and Leo is ready (or better, e’s given up) to pass through the red door. He’s conscious that he made a mistake deciding to stay because people around him kept suffering and are constantly put in danger because of him. He’s a shadow now and he doesn’t belong to that world anymore. We know that Vanessa tied him to the living realm because she wants to know more about their connection (which probably will be the leit motif of the third season) but also because she has a crush for him (yeeeees, sweetie... Montecristo is too old and dead for you XD). That said, this song is amazing (even if the full version is quite different from the tv version, but details...) as well as the whole soundtrack. I wonder how much time we’ll need to suffer before the new season will be aired (I read 2022 but I hope we won’t have to wait so much or I don’t know if the black coat will be available anymore XD).
