summary: there’s now way of escaping it now, bucky is ready to confront sera about all of her past actions wanting to know and understand everything about her, but at the end, he gets to know her a little bit more than intended, making a huge change in their relationship.

“So I guess you’re mad, huh?” Sera asked after seeing Bucky walking pass her once she stepped inside his apartment.

After deciding to take Jackson to the police station, the whole team stopped to wonder their next moves. Sharon was going to go back and keep living her life just like she was doing before, working and reuniting with her family, Sam wanted to visit Sarah’s house and check if everything was alright there, since he and Bucky had left without a warning.

The only ones left were Sera and Bucky. Of course, Sera wanted to see Angela, but going back to Louisiana and let her best friend see her like that, covered in dust with her half clothes all burnt, wasn’t something that she was waiting excitedly. So, before she could decide on her next move by herself, Bucky spoke for her and there she was, inside of her rented car on the copilot seat on the way to Bucky and Sam’s rented apartment.

The entire drive Bucky kept his mouth shut. Not even when Sera turned on the radio, no annoyed words came out of his mouth. Occasionally, Sera did some quick looks to him but he didn’t look back, he had his entire attention towards the road and the wheel in front of him. The air coming out of his nose was thick and angry, that Sera could hear them from her seat, and with that, told her without words that he had some things to say to her.

“Why would you do that?” Bucky asked firmly turning to face her after a couple of seconds of silence since Sera let out those words. “Why would you risk your life like that?”

She stayed quiet the moment she saw his blue eyes, trying to understand what they were saying. “I had to do it.” She let out softly remembering that she had his jacket on, so then proceeded to take it off slowly.

“No, you didn’t.” Bucky said getting closer to her while she was just walking to the couch making her stop to not crash against his body. “You could’ve let me help you.”

“How?” Sera shook her head. “How, Bucky? There’s no way you could’ve made it if you were inside with me.”

“I could’ve done something!” Bucky’s voice got louder when he took a step closer to Sera. “Even on the outside! I’m tired of you taking all the baggage with you, alone!”

“It’s the way is has to be, Bucky! It’s always been like that! And why do you care so much? I did what you would’ve done in my place!” Those words seemed to have hit Bucky differently since he shut his mouth immediately. In a way, it was the truth. Bucky would’ve done the same thing is he was in Sera’s shoes, he couldn’t deny that. “I’m going to bed.” Sera said once she noticed that Bucky wasn’t talking and walk pass him to head towards the tiny room, but Bucky followed her with decision.

“No! I’m not done.”

“What else is there Bucky?!” Sera turned brusquely to face him face to face when his words where now starting to get her more angry and annoyed.

“Why didn’t you told me about you and Jackson?” He asked like he had been waiting to ask it for a long time.

“Why would I?” Sera furrowed her eyebrows confused. “Like it would’ve been great for me to go and say that I helped the guy that wanted to kill us.”

“Why did you helped him?”

Sera took a step back while letting out a long breath, before saying firmly: “That’s non of your business.” She turned towards the bathroom gaining an annoyed noise coming from Bucky’s mouth.

“There she goes again! The mysterious Sera!” He lifted his arms into the air annoyed to then walk with her towards the bathroom. “Alright, what about your powers!?” Sera turn on the water to let her hands get cold since she was starting to feel the hotness of it against her fingertips while Bucky kept talking. “Since when can you paralyse someone, huh?! Because last time I checked you were only able to control fire!”

“Why do you care?!” Sera spitted our loudly once she left the bathroom still being followed by Bucky.

“I want to understand you, Sera! Why is that so difficult for you to get inside your brain!?”

“I get inside my brain whatever I want!”

“Agh! You’re so fucking difficult!”

“Welcome to the world of people that know me!” She arrived to the living room to open the front door, ready to leave Bucky behind, but when Bucky grabbed her arm she turned around locking eyes with him.

“Stop walking away! Why do you always do that?! Don’t you realise all the people you’ve hurt because of it? Sam, Angela-” Bucky took a deep breath when his throat suddenly closed, making it difficult for him to end his sentence. “me!” Remembering the night where she left him, he took a step back with the intention to keep going more calmly, even if his next words came out more firmly than intended. “I was ready to help you that night-”

“Help me?” Sera cut him off loudly. “Like what? Like I’m some sort of lady that needs your rescue?! I don’t need your help Bucky! I’m fine!”

“Oh is that right? Because according to Sam, that’s a complete lie!”

“What do you want from me, Bucky? What is it? Do you want to know everything about me? Everything?!” Sera got closer to Bucky and let every word loudly like there was nothing to lose. “How I hurt Sam when I left him, so much, that it haunted me for months and I couldn’t even sleep or eat!? Or how me helping Jackson still appears in my nightmares every single night?! Is that it?” She found herself closer to his face, screaming so loudly to the point her throat started to burn after every word was let out. “OR HOW THE MEMORY OF SEEING MY PARENTS DIE APPEARS EVERY TIME I SEE THE FLAMES GROWING INSIDE MY VEINS?! HOW I HAVE TO LIVE WITH THE BLAME OF THEIR DEATHS?! HUH?! IS THAT FUCKING IT?!”

Bucky stayed frozen after hearing those words. Processing what she just said about her parents seemed to have wake something up from his insides. He had forgotten about Sam and his words about describing her past, him saying that she experienced one of the worst things that a human could go through. Was that it?

Sera stepped back and let the tears drop down her cheeks but quickly wiping them off taking a step back and looking away from Bucky’s eyes, knowing that it was going to break her even more.

“Sera..” Bucky let out softly while getting close to her. Without thinking about it, he lifted his hands to grab her cheeks gently, feeling the wetness of them by her tears, but shaking her head she softly grabbed them to move them away.

“Why are you giving me such a hard time when all I did was save the people that needed me?” She asked lowering her voice, feeling how her throat started to hurt like something was stuck in it, enabling her to let out her voice normally.

“It’s not about that, Sera,” Bucky shook his head “is about you putting yourself out there, risking your life all the time and not think-”

“Think about what, Bucky?” She cut him off. “There’s not much to think, because if I do, this” she lifted her hand to let out a little flame and then turn it into smoke “moves quicker and takes everyone down with it... Believe me, I’ve seen it before.” She said with her voice cracking as another tear dropped down her cheek. “And It’s not that I can’t understand that you care about me, it’s that everyone that did ended up dying on me.” When single tear dropped down her cheek before she could wipe it out, Bucky lifted her hand and gently stopped it as his thumb caressed her cheek. Sera, feeling the softness of it against her skin, closed her eyes and slowly shook her hand, before, again, grabbing his hand taking it away from her face. “I don’t want you to care about me Bucky, so please, stop it.”

“How do you want me to do that? It’s not as easy as you say it is.”

Sera turned around towards the room and left Bucky behind once again, but he didn’t stayed still, he followed her as he was looking her head slowly shaking. “Find a way, I don’t know.”

Once inside the room, Sera covered her face with her hands frustrated as she sat down on the end of the bed. “I can’t.” He said softly making her let out yet another tear. “It’s too late.”

Sera uncovered her face but kept looking down to the floor, biting the corner of her lips she felt her chest getting tighter as her next words were running through her mind, ready for her dry mouth to let them out, even it hurt for her to say them. “Then you better walk away now.” She said almost in a whisper locking eyes with Bucky.

Sera was expecting for him to look at her with anger or even annoyed and then walk away, tired of her and her words, but instead, he stayed still like he was ready to fight every single word she was letting out.

Ready to fight for her.

“What if I don’t want to? Are you gonna paralyse me again?” He spitted out more loudly. “You can’t stop people from caring about you, Sera. And the truth is, no matter how much I try I can’t get you out of my head.” Sera started to shook her head again before getting up from the bed and walking around the room frustrated as Bucky kept talking. “You smiling or even with your red eyes... you’re always there. When I thought I lost you I- it brought me back things I never expected to feel ever again.”

Waiting for an answer from her, Bucky stopped and followed her with his eyes around the room. She kept shaking her head slowly as her eyes were closed, and seeing that she didn’t have the plan to talk, he continued.

“The feeling of losing someone I deeply care about, Sera. And it’s not the same one that I feel with Sam, or anyone else.” Wanting to look at her in the eyes, he gently grabbed her arm and pulled her closer to his. “Remember that night when you saved my life... I felt like that but; the opposite. If I can’t understand what happened there I won’t be able to fully understand this. But I do understand one thing; I can’t help it, Sera.”

“Stop. Just stop.” She let out softly.

“And I know you feel the same way.”

“Stop! This is insane!”

“Why? Why you say that? Do you really think that it’s normal for me after all these years to feel these things? To be thinking about a woman? A year ago I couldn’t even describe what I was feeling and now I’m here trying to understand what the fuck is going on because I can feel it driving me crazy! What you make me feel is driving me crazy!”

“Then just walk away!”

“No! I can’t walk away from you! Why don’t you do it? It’s seems easier for you! You proved it! Multiple times!” Letting out a long breath Sera kept the eye contact with Bucky even if it was hurting her every single part of her body. “Try to be honest with me Sera, just this one time, are you saying that you don’t feel the same thing I do?” He asked getting closer to her face but she didn’t answer. She tried to get her thoughts in order, since the moment he let out that question the first word she thought was... ‘No.’ That immediately made her heart drop to her stomach as the butterflies went into crazy mode. “Do you really think if I just walk away, everything will become better? That it won’t make you feel at least a little bit bad? Or just nothing?!”

Sera kept her silence while shaking her head knowing that Bucky was right. She was trying to run away before the situation became big, but the truth was, it was already big. She was already in that dark whole she would always avoid, preventing herself from getting hurt. Bucky was right, it was too late.

“I hate you.” She let out softly even though the way she felt, it was the complete opposite. And Bucky knew that.

He looked down to her lips and without waiting another second, grabbed her waist to pull her closer and stare at her lips deeper. They were both feeling each other’s breaths hit their skins as they were coming out of their mouths. His thumb was gently caressing her cheek the moment Bucky looked up to her eyes. They both wanted it, they both wanted to end the space and finally experience what the other tasted like. But they kept still, enjoying the closeness and the way the other would feel while being in each other’s embrace.

It was time, Bucky and Sera knew it, and for the way both of their bodies felt nothing was going to stop them. Not even the slightest low voice on their heads saying that it wasn’t a good idea.

Before Sera could move away her eyes from his, Bucky moved his lips closer to her and stopped right on her edge so feel her breathing enter his mouth. Sera closed her eyes when the desire to kiss him grew inside her body even more, knowing that it was coming and expecting it with excitement.

Before she could let out another breath, his lips crushing into hers made her feel those hot lips against hers, shivering at the touch of his two hands on her back pressing her closer to his body. Wrapping her arms around his neck, and him on her waist, united their bodies closer to feel them every single muscle. Sera, having her stomach bare since her shirt was burnt, felt her skin shiver feeling the coldness of his shirt. But soon, making her veins glow, she felt the burning grow illuminating the room helping the poor light surrounding them.

This time, the kiss was quicker than the first one. Already knowing how the other tasted, wanting to fill the desire they both felt was the intention of this one. Feeling his mouth opening wider, Sera did the same to then soon feel his tongue slip inside of her mouth. They both started to play with each other like they’ve done it before, like they’ve been doing the same things for years, even if it was just the first time they had touched.

Soon after, he ended the kiss to quickly grab her waist and pull her body upwards and walk towards the bed. Sitting down on the edge of it, Bucky placed her legs between his waist and then united his lips with hers once again.

Sera slowed down the kiss once she felt his cold metal hand touching her back to slowly caress it up and down while his other hand was holding her waist down, pressing her more strongly against his body. She noticed his hand moving towards the end of her broken shirt, and then hesitantly stopped. Sera broke away and looked at his eyes, she knew that he wanted to ask her for permission, but she didn’t want to let any words out. Instead, moving slowly she grabbed the end of her shirt and pulled it up, leaving her black bra under his sight.

Regaining his eyes on hers, she let out a tiny smile and placed her hands on his cheeks to slowly trace it with her thumb.

His soothing hand was now placed on her neck, and wanting to give her another kiss he slowly moved her head towards his to then soon feel her lips against his. Every kiss became hotter than the one before, no matter if it was fast or slow, the desire they were both feeling made them enjoy each kiss with more passion than the last one.

Without waiting another second, Bucky with his strong arms grabbed her waist and pulled her up to then place her on the bed. His arms were now beside her head to hold his body up and not crash her, while her legs were gently resting between his. He didn’t want to rush things, so being held by his hands he also pressed his knees against the bed, only allowing his face to touch her. So, getting closer the moment he felt her breathing against his, he touched her lips but didn’t end it on a kiss, they both just enjoyed the closeness as their lips were barely touching, feeling the desire growing once again.

Not being able to hold it anymore, Bucky pressed his lips with strength against hers. Sera took her hands to gently trace his arms around her head. Making her fingertips burn to make their bodies hotter, she placed them on his back and slowly went towards the end of it to feel, finally, his skin under his shirt. But before she could reach it, an incredible strong pain appeared on the back of her chest.

“Ouch.” She let out softly breaking the kiss and closing her eyes with strength. It was like a dagger had stabbed her and leave her to bleed for hours, making the horrid high pain to last forever.

“What is it? Are you ok?” Bucky asked worried looking at her body, afraid that somehow he managed to hurt her. But she slowly shook her head, reaching her back with her hand.

“I’m fine, it’s just-” she was saying but when she felt some wetness on her back, she took a look at her hand to then see blood all over it. “Fuck. I must’ve hurt myself when a wall fell down behind me.” Bucky reached down to give her a little kiss on the neck before moving away and walking towards the bathroom. “What are you going?” Sera asked confused following him with her eyes. Seconds after, she heard the shower turning on and Bucky appearing once again in the room.

“You need to get cleaned up, first.”

Sera let out a sigh and let her head rest on the pillow. “I’m fine.” She let out but Bucky just raised his eyebrows, letting her know that it wasn’t a discussion. Deep down liking his attitude, Sera let out a tiny smile but soon erasing by getting up from the bed and walking towards the bathroom.

Feeling the hot air hitting her skin, she took a deep breath in and closed her eyes for a second embracing her lungs getting hotter. The moment she opened them again, she noticed Bucky holding the door open and looking at her, he slowly went down her body making Sera feel little shivers under his sight while her butterflies started to move again. Unintentionally, he bit his lower lip but then when he locked with her again, he did a little nod and stared at the ground, embarrassed of his prior actions. “I better leave you to it, then.”

“Bucky.” Sera stopped him. “You’re not gonna touch me later with those dirty hands after I cleaned myself..” She said softly keeping her eye contact with him. Understanding what she was talking about, Bucky’s tongue went completely numb at the idea of him and her showering together while million of ideas came through his head. “I’m gonna get inside, and if you want, you can come in... is up to you.”

Sera reached to her back and started to undo her bra. Bucky noticing this, turned around and faced the wall behind him. Sera didn’t know why she said those words, maybe she got caught up on the moment from before, or maybe the side of her that didn’t want to fall even more for Bucky was completely gone, but she knew that in those moments, all the wanted was to feel Bucky againts her. After all, she had kiss him. And she knew that it wasn’t going to be easy for her to forget it. She’s already deep in it... but maybe there was another deeper whole that she could be in?

Once inside the shower, she felt those hot drops of water hitting her skin and slowly dropping towards the floor. Seeing all the dirt fading away and her scratched back stopping from hurting so bad, she closed her eyes but soon opened them again, wondering if Bucky was considering her offer.

Maybe he was going to, maybe he wasn’t, that was all Sera could think about. Because of the strong water dropping down, she couldn’t hear anything coming from outside the shower. Until the door closing hit her ears. Silence surrounded the room, not even a shadow moving from the other side, or even the sound of someone changing or taking their clothes off, nothing.

He didn’t take it. Sera thought feeling the disappointment growing inside her chest. Maybe that was for the best, not having to deal with having Bucky naked behind her, all those wild thoughts coming through her mind and having to forget them because what may happen afterwards was unknown, inside the shower and outside on the bedroom.

She started to rub her arm to get the rest of the dust away from her body, but then, when the sound of the shower curtain opening hit her ears, her body stayed still as her heart dropped to her stomach.

He was there. His naked body was behind her, centimetres away.

Wondering with her eyes, she heard him getting closer and then soon felt his wet hand against her back, gently tracing the scratches on it. “Does it hurt?” He asked softly making her feel his hot breath on her skin.
