Last month, I had the opportunity to experience Van Gogh in an immersive way. For those who don't know, Van Gogh has always been one of my favorites. Cliché? Yes. But what do you expect from someone who's a fan of classics and Taylor Swift? Let's continue...
As I've mentioned before, my connection with Van Gogh isn't just due to empathy, but also because of identification. The vibrant colors in his paintings contrast with the melancholy he carried within. A melancholy that accompanies me constantly.
Amidst the exhibition, several of his writings indicated his profound melancholy and also his admiration for the simple things in life.
Van Gogh was a natural observer, as evidenced by his paintings. But his most significant observations can also be found in his letters. It's remarkable how much he admired the simple and, with wisdom, found life lessons in what he could see.
My admiration and identification stem precisely from this: Van Gogh could extract gold from the mud. He could make a simple vase of flowers come to life through his hands. He could look at the fishermen and feel courage. Look at the stars in search of peace.
His perspective on life was keen and peculiar. He suffered in silence, always observing the most beautiful aspects of life. He dreamed despite his suffering. He appreciated life despite his pain. That's his greatness. That's my identification.

È bello amare molte cose, perché in questo sta la vera forza e chi ama molto fa molto e può fare molto e ciò che si fa con amore è ben fatto.

...and then, I have nature and art and poetry, and if that is not enough, what is enough?
