I can't lie, he's simply not sexy enough. This is the man that had these hoes framing each other for murder for the CHANCE to be with him. You cannot convince me that British boy could inspire such nonsense.

On a more serious note...

My issue with British! Dimitri really just speaks to my larger issue with how the show, and others like it, chose to adapt the source material. I literally HATE when one of my favorite book series is adapted and it is done in a way that the VA show did. It's this thing that a lot of YA adaptations do where they take the basics of a series like the setting, characters, and usually the overarching premise of the first book and use it to create it's own show. It's what Pretty Little Liars, Vampire Diaries, and Shadowhunters did. They take the series and gut it for parts to make a broadly marketable series that they can push for as many seasons as possible. An "adaptation" that you can identify as the book series, but also tells a completely different story. This isn't me saying these shows are bad television shows. I am saying they are bad adaptations. Of the previously mentioned shows I was only able to get through Vampire Diaries and most of Pretty Little Liars, and that was because I didn't read the books before I watched it. I wasn't met with the soul crushing devastation I was met with when I watched Shadowhunters and realized it was not actually going to adapt the book. (It's why, even though it's a literal dumpster fire, I prefer the movie because it at least tried to follow the books) Some people don't mind this, and that's totally okay, but I hate it so much. I feel like these adaptations take away so much from the story they are adapting, and make it worse. Obviously they could make it work having Dimitri be British, but it also just alters so much about how he is characterized. He wasn't Russian in the way that Lissa and Adrian are. It wasn't just used to give him a cool name, or to make sense in the overall world building. Richelle made Dimitri being Russian a significant aspect of his character. It influences his plotlines and is a major factor in why he behaves the way he does. The changes made to show Dimitri fundamentally change who he is in the world of the series. Him being a foot taller than Rose isn't to make a cute height difference, it is to signify just how massive he is compared to the other Dhampirs. The boys refer to him as a god, and that's not just because he was a good warrior. If that were the case they'd say the same thing about Janine, and they don't. Dimitri's entire being makes him a force to the dhampirs. He is other worldly to them. The show made him plain, average. That is my issue with British Dimitri.

I had a couple questions about the Academy, if it's alright to ask more than one in the same ask.

Firstly, with Vampires, how does the Academy ensure they have enough blood on hand for them? Is it donated via blood bags?

Secondly, is there a dress code at the Academy, or will the MC and each RO be wearing an outfit that's representitive of the House/Coven they belong to?

Aurelian Academy has quite a bit of funding— partially from the families that have children attending, from House Aurelia, and from various other pursuits. Clarissa, along with a few other staff members, take stock of how many vampires will be attending Aurelian in the coming year and have enough supplies allocated accordingly. There are also vendors that come to Aurelian and sell various goods; like blood lollipops, blood infused tea, and various other things. So a vampire wouldn’t have any worry of running out (and if it ever truly got dire, which would mean even bigger problems than simply running out of blood if Aurelian got to that state, there’s always Avalon too).

There isn’t a dress code exactly— students are just expected to be dressed appropriately when it comes to a learning establishment as a whole. There are specific jackets that some classes will have you wear to distinguish you from the other (like charmer classes have silk jackets), and only heirs get a specialized jacket that distinguishes them from other people. Though that’s typically only when an event, such as the one that’s happening this year, occurs where knowing someone’s social standing needs to be apparent.

The day Dimitri had planned to propose to Rose was also the first day he ever requested off from Christian. Oof, im all over the place. But I'll have to credit Sherrilyn Kenyon on getting me into the sexual side of vamps. The Dark Hunter series remains one of my faves, I've read almost up to ...book 32? Book 33? I lost count. But the author started going through issues with her ex who was coming after her books so she started publishing the same story from different perspectives and i zoned out. Might be time to zone back in 🤔

Of course, have to credit the GOATS - Vampire in Brooklyn and Queen of the Damned. Im now obsessed with the idea of smashing the two together and fuck it, might be my second vamp novel. I'll see what shakes loose 💁🏽‍♀️

Again, obsessed with the thought of a vamp waiting for their forever partner, the inherent romanticism of vampirism, and the flirt with disaster and death and melancholy that always speaks to me. You can probably guess that Edgar Allen Poe is a fave of mines too 🤣 certified emo over here 😌😌

Theres a lot of things that went into my version of vamps. They can't go out into sunlight, they need blood to survive, they can tolerate normal food but it does nothing for them, they have some decorum now because of technology but Black vamps are on top.

I really dislike going to hunt for a vampire story only to find that white people are vamps and Black people are vampire hunters. Who decided that? Why is it always like that? Why can't I live my best Black vamp life 😩😩😩

And special shoutout to Vampire Academy as well. Is it cheesy? Sure. Am I obsessed? Yes. I'm behind finishing the series chuz the author pissed me tf off in book 3 🤣🤣🤣 she's on a timeout.

Surprise! Because being nosy about folks’ OCs is one of the funnest parts of the creative community, for one OC of your choice:

- How do they take their coffee? If they don’t drink coffee, what’s their favorite drink?

- What song are they listening to right now, and how do they feel about it?

- If they could exist in any movie, which one would they pick?

Can't believe I'm being made to choose just one oc.......and unsurprisingly I am not doing that. I'll just do Tia and Conner though this time though.

- How do they take their coffee? If they don’t drink coffee, what’s their favorite drink?

Conner: For someone that likes sweet things he prefers his coffee to be almost black, maybe just a splash of cream but nothing more. Rarely he'll try some fancy coffee drink and really its when Tia insists he tries it so that she can have some without the risk of hating a full drink.

Tia: She's someone that needs the sweet in the coffee to counter balance the bitterness, but coffee isn't her first drink of choice though. She would much rather have smoothies, green drinks, and boba teas. She finds them much lighter than coffee and things she can make more often on her own as she is someone that would need the fancy home coffee makers to have the kind of coffee she enjoys most.

- What song are they listening to right now, and how do they feel about it?

Conner: Is trying to expand his music library with more modern music beyond the (and I'm dead serious) two Green Day tracks he has on them, and even then they're from the 90's (Coming Clean and Basket Case in case you were curious). Man has no music from the 21st century. So currently he is listening to "Save My Soul" by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, yes they have a lot of covers of music he likes already but it was released after 1999 so it counts. He'll soothe his soul with some Glenn Miller after, starting with "I Know Why (And So Do You)".

Tia: Is listening to some newer music, specifically "You're Gonna Go Far" by Noah Kahan ft. Brandi Carlile and its making her feel very nostalgic about her parents, and some form of understanding of her father. Even though lyrically its not accurate she can't help but feel like its her parents singing to her. It was just her and her mom since she was five and she left to live a life on the road in a van right out of high school, and part of Tia always felt like her mother was a little disappointed in her for not doing college. And her father left his family when she was five because he didn't want the life he grew up with for Tia, he wanted her to be as far from that life as possible, and she couldn't really understand the why of it but in listening to this song she feels like she can understand fully. She'll pick herself back up though with "Stella" by Cereus Bright, something she can dance to and jam out to in her van.

- If they could exist in any movie, which one would they pick?

Conner: He'd pick something set in the 40's to 50's, maybe more something like the musicals of the golden age, La La Land would be something he'd pick. Barring that though he'd also find some joy in the cheesy rom-coms of the 2000's or even Stuck in Love, because god does he wish his only problems were his love life and being incapable of telling Tia how he feels, and not the debt to the mob because a vampire is hunting him and his mother for some reason.

Tia: Well she finds her life to already be a movie, well okay her life on the road as a movie. One of those indie coming of age/life transition movies, there's something freeing about it all. She also though wouldn't mind being younger and put into a movie like The Perks of Being a Wildflower or someone in Into the Wild, she acknowledges that they are on the sadder end but there's a journey of life happening within them that she focuses on.

Neighborhood Vampire x Seiai: So, after attacking Midoriya, Himiko goes through a whole character arc where she's taken in by pro heroes, socialized like a feral kitten, and meets Midoriya again at Seiai. Man, that must have been... awkward.

Himiko: Ah, Iz- Midoriya, fancy seeing you again, wow you are so much cuter than I last saw you, good to know , anyway I've gotta go-

Kumiko, grabbing her by the back of her shirt: Oh no you don't, we are having a talk, do you have any idea how worried I was-

Honestly I think a lot of us who became fans of Adrian in VA was due to the fact of what age we read VA. Me personally I was 17/18 when I read VA and was already so over the moody, never wants to open up emotionally distant Male leads in books by that point. That when Adrian came in, it was a breath of fresh air. He made jokes, never pretended to be something he wasn't, was honest about what Spirit was doing to him, and called out people when he had to. He was the most crystal clear character I had read to that point. And Richelle did a great job of transitioning him to the Bloodlines series, and even though Bloodlines is considered YA. It felt like the book was more college age than anything else. I really love VA, but Rose really had these rose color glasses on for Dimitri. She didn't want to see anything and held him up to such a high standard. That I truly preferred the moments in the series where her mind wasn't so Dimitri focused. Blood Promise is my Favorite book in VA and even though it was about Rose going to find Dimitri. It was such a nice break getting away from the constant Dimitri/Lissa cycle she was on.

Hello there!! I absolutely agree. I think the reason why so many people hate or dislike Adrian is because they all saw him from Rose's point of view and let's be honest, she never painted him in a good light nor ever truly gave him a chance. Not even as a friend. Even as a friend she treated him so poorly like he was just a nuisance and it annoyed me so much. Even after Tatiana was murdered and he fell into drinking to cope, she labeled him a coward and she was dating him, that was what made me dislike Rose so much. She saw him as lesser and weak when he was in a very vulnerable position and yet, he still helped her and no one ever gives him credit for helping her even when his heart was broken when he had every right to not help. She used him, plain and simple. There's no arguing with that.

Adrian is dare I say, the most in depth character Richelle created in that series. He is interesting and he is so much more than what we see and I'm so glad that Bloodlines gave him chapters from his own perspective. He got the redemption he deserved in those books. I can go on and on about how wonderful of a character he is. I love Adrian with all of my heart.
