I know realistically Kevin and Dale would never talk to each because of age difference, class difference, Dale's trust issues etc.

But you can't write two socially inept boys with a passion for robotics and not have them interreact once!

Rip. They could have been besties. Maybe in another life.

I have been THINKING SO HARD on Kevin since I realized Dale is into robotics too- I didn't expect canon would just give me a robotics expert back when I tossed Kevin into that role due to cyborg obsession!

My current Cloudlands AU canon is still set up for Kevin designing the robot babysitters we see in "Channel Chasers" (Maybe Vicky bought one and customized it? Unclear)... I'm not sure if that will stay, but I feel like Dale wouldn't be happy about the Vicky design, sldkfj...

I'm not emotionally attached to the "Channel Chasers" future and I wasn't looking forward to rushing the city to be high-tech in 20 years, so if New Wish can ignore flying cars and stuff, I might too. We'll see...

Anyway, Kevin is practically the only kid in the OG series who told us what he wanted to be when he grew up and it was a dentist... and Dale has teeth issues and also likes robots... Hm. Inch resting.

I mean, Kevin IS a Buxaplenty in my lore...

... it's not out of the question for him to toy more with that side of his heritage as he grows older and closer to Remy...

POV: You're Dale sent to meet a Buxaplenty at a convention:

One of my favorite jokes in Cloudlands AU is that Kevin - an estranged Buxaplenty-Crocker child with witch magic that forces him to see ghosts under specific circumstances - has bizarre relationships with random people, but won't elaborate...

Ex: His job shadow with the Grim Reaper (x), his stepfamily (x) who are definitely not vampires (x), Jimmy Neutron's son despite him not being born at that point in the 2D World timeline (x), he's gotten an email from Danny Phantom (x), the Crocker house talks to him (x), he watches soap operas with his uncle's ex (who is a cat) (x), he knows the Burger World Employee & Bob the Boil & Mikey Munroe through Club Redheads Who Didn't Get Mindwiped (x), he's Foop's foster dad (x), he's caretaker for his undead great-uncle who was reborn as an iguana (x), he's still "alive" 150k years in the future (after he's reborn as a crow) and has met people in Foop's teen friend group (x), he lived beneath the same roof as Anti-Sanderson (x)... List goes on. I also like to think he's met Dark Laser's son. Kevin is the only one who ever knows what's going on with his life.

Canonically in my lore, Kevin has laid eyes on Rudy Tabootie from ChalkZone, Diego and Baby Jaguar from Go Diego Go, Chase from Paw Patrol, and he's spoken to Zac from Shimmer and Shine because they were all at the interdimensional Nick show pizza parlor.

It is not out of the question for Kevin to be familiar with Dale, because Dimmadelphia is heavily implied to be a tech empire (Robotics community is big there), they might've attended the same fancy tech university for a year or two, and it totally fits Kevin's gag. It's the Crocker curse of getting in everyone's way...

I'mma be honest, I think Kevin is Dale's type (Struggling under the weight of the world, daddy / mommy / step-daddy / uncle issues, the town has come to expect A Vibe from his family, is "extra" when the setting calls for it, builds awesome robots, makes money in a stable career)... Dale's type is "As easy to understand and low maintenance as possible; bonus points for same interests."

I think Dale just wants to live by himself tbh. He gets along so well with Hadley because she's very independent, also from a wealthy family (Leadlys), travels a lot, doesn't "need" him, and totally gets his need for personal space and clear instructions on how she wants to celebrate holidays and anniversaries. Hadley tells him exactly what to do and Dale says "Bless this low-brainpower relationship I scored. Whatever you say, girlfriend." They definitely spark each other off sometimes, but they're both good at taking time for themselves (and remember they like existing with each other). I think deep down, Dale is glad to have someone helping him manage his stress and bringing in extra income - plus in City Lights AU, he wants Dev to be his heir and needs a basic "let me show you what Daddy does because this will be you someday" connection to him - so those are the things that stop him from living alone. He gets lonely when Hadley's away, but he also likes fewer distractions and not sharing the bed... They get along fine :)

But Kevin sees way too much of himself in Dale (Big and loud to cover the self-deprecation and anxiety) and he's not into that, so he'd pretend to be oblivious if he ever got hit on.

Kevin's vision of Dale is "only puts in emotional energy when it's convenient." You can pry "I adore you even when you hate yourself and will happily cover extra housework when you're exhausted b/c we're a team" Chloe from Kevin's undead talons <3

City Lights AU Dale would not hit on him because he's Daddy's Good Boy and would probably have an anxiety attack if he had One (1) Fantasy outside his marriage, but y'know... In some other universe, the robot-lovers geek out together. Kevdale tag when?

Alt consideration: Hadley has her QPR with Remy and Dale has one with the Crockermichaels... Crockermichaeldome tag when... Yes, It has to be both of them... Do not separate.

They’re out of season. I’ll pass.” Chloe arched her brows. One offended hand flew to her chest. “Sure, it’s a premium price right now, but what could be more rewarding than maintaining a healthy body every month of the year?” “Your engagement ring, I hope.” Chloe considered this, then set one box down. “It better have a strawberry engraved on it.” “Actually, I was thinking I’d get this neat silver one that looks like a little robot wrapped around your finger.”

Chloe bounced on her heels. “I look forward to welcoming all aspects of my pregnancy, even the ones which are, tragically, so often seen as negative.” Molly tapped her nails against her mug. “Let me guess. You’ve already got a dozen baby names picked out.” “I am partial to Chloe Junior myself,” she admitted, grinning Kevin’s way. “But Kevin likes Phillip, after the prince from Sleeping Beauty.” “I like dragons,” he called over his hot chocolate. Chloe waved her hand. “I’m not sure about it since it isn’t super gender-neutral. We’re still working things out on that end. Although it would be a very cute name for a girl…” She stared at the loose change in the change jar, lost in thought.

Candybats boys cuddling together but get tangled in Streber's cape, and have to wait until someone finds them and "help" them

So I feel like they'd be iffy abt him at first like 'If you fucking hurt our nerd you die' but after a while they think of him as one of them, despite him being the furthest thing from a theater kid.

1. This is very big brain, as they know how easily flustered Kevin is just from Streber giving him affection around them. One day they decide they wanna see their precious friend's bf all flustered and they start with the tickle teases. Streber notices and just casually says 'Hey remember to fulfill the threats, guys, otherwise he gets frustrated!' Kevin is VERY flustered... at least, until he gets the shit tickled out of him

2. I can imagine this going like, the gang is ganging up on one of them, then the other comes to help and... doesn't do a very good job of not getting caught. Leaving the couple to laugh together as the hauntiest house gang wrecks their shit.

3. Now I'm gonna go into a little more detail here. I feel like they're just cuddling on the couch, Streber wanted to vampire up for a few hours, and they end up falling asleep. They toss and turn so much in their sleep that they wake up finding themselves all wrapped up. Streber's not too concerned bc he knows his friends are coming over, but that's exactly WHY Kevin is concerned. He knows it's gonna be soooo embarrassing. When the gang arrives, they question the state of the two, with Streber brushing it off with a 'Can you guys just help us?' I'd imagine Diego initially steps towards them to do so, but is stopped by Liv who's already planning shit. She casually walks up and just suddenly starts tickling Streber's neck, who squeals and grips onto Kevin's sides to ground himself. Problem is, Kevin's even MORE ticklish than Streber, so he's struggling to keep from laughing at that alone. So Ethan just walks over and manages to get Kevin's ribs, and he's just done for. The worst part is, neither of them can get away because of how tightly they're trapped. Eventually, ofc, after a thorough wrecking, the others help untangle them

5. DARK CLOAKS

THREE MONTHS LATER

SEATTLE UNDER SIEGE - DEATH TOLL RISES AGAIN.

I grabbed the newspaper that had just been refilled by the paperboy. Fortunately for him, he was long gone by now.

Oh great. Riley was going to lose it when he saw this. Someone else was going to get an earful. When I meant earful, I meant getting their limps ripped off.

Glancing at the date on the paper, I saw it was June 11th. It was strange how time seemed to slip away so fast, even for a vampire. I unfolded the paper and scanned the headlines, my eyes widening in shock as I read the front page story. Humans would think it was gang related violence and that was why the crime rate was getting higher by the minute.

But in reality, it was the newborns doing a real crappy job of disposing the evidence.

I found Bree standing in the shadow behind the corner of a shabby threestory building, trying to be inconspicuous while waiting for someone, meaning me, to make a decision. Not wanting to meet anyone's eyes, Bree stared at the wall beside her instead.

Kristie and Jen did inform him about my sudden new ability, the mysterious purple glow that came out of me when they were attacking Bree and I. And of course, he informed the given information to Victoria, who was very surprised by my additional power alongside being good at hiding. I was starting to feel pretty good about my gift, until Riley gave me a job.

He had sent me to some babysitting duty while the newborns were on their hunt.

The ground level of the structure housed a record store that had long been out of business; the windows, damaged by weather or street disturbances, were covered with plywood. Above it were vacant apartments, devoid of the usual sounds of slumbering inhabitants. It came as no surprise to me that there were no signs of human presence - the place appeared as though it could crumble with a strong gust of wind. The buildings across the dim, narrow street were equally dilapidated.

This was the typical sight for a night out in the city.

Babysitting the newborns was something I despised, and tonight had only confirmed my disdain. Riley had assigned me to accompany two utterly useless vampires: Kevin and Casey.

As much as I loathed Raoul, these two were incredibly bothersome. According to what I had heard, Kevin was once a member of Raoul's human gang and was recruited by Riley upon Raoul's recommendation. Riley sought him out and asked if he wanted to join Raoul, to which he agreed. Casey, on the other hand, had joined shortly after working with Raoul in his gang. When Raoul became a part of the Seattle newborn army, he suggested to Riley that they recruit Casey, along with Kevin. Casey had since become a minion in Raoul's army.

Both Kevin and Casey bore a striking resemblance to each other, with their pale complexions and red eyes, the only noticeable difference being their hair. Kevin had jet-black hair, while Casey's hair were blonde. Despite their physical similarities, their personalities were the exact same. They were both stupid. And dangerous. And right now, mostly stupid.

Riley never seemed to care who he sent out in hunting groups. Or particularly bugged when sending out the wrong people together meant fewer people coming home. Tonight I was stuck with Kevin, Casey, Diego and Bree.

Instead of picking a direction for our hunt, suddenly Kevin and Casey were in the middle of an argument over whose favorite superhero would be a better hunter. Casey was demonstrating his case for Spider-Man now, skittering up the brick wall of the alley while humming the cartoon theme song. I sighed in frustration. Were we ever going to hunt?

I planned to give Riley a beat for this.

As I glanced to my left, a sudden flicker of movement caught my attention. It was Diego, and his frustration mirrored my own. We had both been turned into vampires at the tender age of seventeen, and Diego had shared his tragic human life story with me.

It began in Los Angeles, where he grew up in a humble, single-parent household. When he turned sixteen, his mother made the difficult decision to move to Portland for a job opportunity that ultimately fell through. Determined to support his family, Diego took on part-time jobs while attending school. His ultimate goal was to escape the hardships of street life and pursue a college education, all while ensuring his younger brother had the same opportunity.

Although Diego managed to steer clear of trouble with a gang at his high school, his brother became entangled in their dangerous web. Desperate to protect him, Diego and his mother devised a plan to extricate his brother from the gang's clutches. Tragically, before they could put their plan into action, his little brother lost his life during a brutal initiation ritual. Overwhelmed by grief, Diego sought vengeance against those responsible. He stole a gun from a gang member's house and avenged his brother's death, but found himself cornered by the remaining members.

It was in this dire moment that Riley appeared, offering Diego a chance at a new life. Without hesitation, Diego accepted the offer, and Riley swiftly eliminated their pursuers. Under Victoria's guidance, Diego joined the ranks of the newly created vampires, alongside Fred and Raoul. He became Riley's trusted right-hand man, navigating the treacherous world they found themselves in.

Returning to the present, I noticed Diego's gaze fixed on Bree, who let out a weary sigh before averting her eyes. In Riley's crowd, survival depended on keeping one's head down and remaining silent. It was a constant battle for life amidst the chaos.

"Spider-Man is such a whiny loser," Kevin taunted Casey from below. "I'l show you how a real superhero hunts." A mischievous grin spread across his face, revealing a set of gleaming teeth under the streetlight's glare.

Without hesitation, Kevin leapt into the center of the street just as the car's headlights illuminated the worn pavement with a cool, bluish-white glow. He flexed his muscular arms, showcasing his strength like a professional wrestler. The approaching car probably expected him to move out of the way like any ordinary person would. But Kevin wasn't ordinary. Not by a long shot.

Kevin jumped into the middle of the street just as the lights from a car swung around to illuminate the cracked pavement with a blue-white gleam. He flexed his arms back, then pulled them slowly together like a pro wrestler showing off. The car came on, probably expecting him to get the hell out of the way like a normal person would. Like he should.

"Hulk mad!" Kevin bellowed with a thunderous voice. "Hulk. . . SMASH!"

With incredible agility, he lunged towards the oncoming car, seizing its front bumper and effortlessly flipping it over his head. The vehicle, now upside down, crashed onto the pavement with a cacophony of twisted metal and shattering glass.

"Kevin, stop!" I shouted desperately, but my words fell on deaf ears.

The car's impact had triggered a woman's terrified screams from within.

Kevin stood triumphantly over the overturned car, his chest heaving with adrenaline. He turned to me with a smug grin, clearly reveling in his display of power.

"See, Casey? That's how it's done," he boasted, his voice filled with arrogance.

But as the reality of the situation sank in, I felt a wave of horror wash over me. The woman trapped inside the car was now in even greater danger, and it was all because of Kevin's reckless actions.

"Oh man," Diego shook his head in disbelief. "Kevin, we're supposed to be laying low. Riley said —."

"Riley said!" Kevin mocked in a high-pitched voice. "Get a spine, Diego. Riley's not here. "

Kevin leaped over the overturned Honda and smashed the driver's side window, still miraculously intact. He rummaged through the broken glass and deflating airbag to reach the driver. I watched in horror as Kevin attacked the woman.

The woman's cries for help echoed in my ears, but I knew it was too late for her. She was already their prey.

Casey, on the other hand, had no qualms. He leaped off the wall and landed gracefully behind Bree, earning a growl from me. Casey and Kevin exchanged hostile glares, followed by a sickening tearing noise as the woman's screams abruptly stopped. They had torn her apart.

I tried to block out the gruesome scene, but the heat and the sound of dripping blood behind me made my throat ache, even though I wasn't breathing.

"I'm outta here," Diego muttered.

"I don't blame you," I replied, crossing my arms. "But someone has to keep an eye on them."

Diego disappeared into a narrow passage between the buildings, with Bree close behind him.

I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what I was about to witness. As Diego and Bree slipped away, I knew it was up to me to monitor Kevin and Casey's every move. I couldn't let them wreak havoc unchecked.

I cautiously approached the shattered Honda and the stench of blood and the metallic tang of fear hung heavy in the air. I couldn't help but feel a surge of anger and disgust at what Kevin and Casey had done. How could they be so callous, so merciless?

I peered through the broken window, my eyes widening at the gruesome sight before me. The woman's lifeless body lay mangled and torn, her once vibrant spirit extinguished. It was a chilling reminder of the darkness that lurked within Kevin and Casey, a darkness that I had witnessed far too many times.

I clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palms. I had to stay focused, had to keep them in sight. I couldn't let them slip away, couldn't let them continue their reign of terror.

I rose up and stormed over to them. "Alright, you both want a chat? How about this? Wonder Woman is facing against Spider-Man and the Hulk? Who would win?"

Kevin and Casey exchanged puzzled glances, their anger momentarily overshadowed by my unexpected question. The tension in the air was palpable as they struggled to comprehend my sudden shift in topic. But I knew that diverting their attention was crucial in this moment.

As they hesitated, I continued, my voice dripping with sarcasm, "Come on, guys, I thought you were the experts on causing chaos. Surely you can handle a hypothetical battle between superheroes?"

Their confusion deepened, but I could see a flicker of curiosity in their eyes. It was a risky move, but I had to keep them engaged, keep them from slipping away.

"Well, technically, Wonder Woman is from DC and Spider-Man and the Hulk are from Marvel," Casey explained, a hint of amusement in his voice.

I rolled my eyes, frustrated by their attempt to deflect the seriousness of the situation. "That's not the point, boys. We need to talk about what just happened here. This isn't a game."

Kevin chuckled. "What's the big deal? So a human died from our hunger? It's not a big deal, and aside, that's what we need to survive."

I scoffed, disbelief and anger bubbling up inside me.

However, before I could voice my thoughts, a piercing scream shattered the conversation. A woman, unmistakably a prostitute given her revealing attire, burst into the scene with her scandalously short skirt and a white shirt that barely contained her ample bosom. Jen pounced on her, snarling, while Kristie dragged in a startled bike messenger.

I shook my head in disbelief as they continued to indulge in their gruesome feast. The reality of their true nature was becoming harder to ignore. These newborns were untamed beasts, incapable of being civilized.

"Hey, back off from our turf!" Kevin's voice boomed, filled with authority.

"Every inch of this town belongs to us!" Kristie's retort echoed defiantly.

The clash between the boys and girls was bound to happen, and I did my best to intervene.

But their primal instincts took over, and the fight escalated quickly. The sound of growls and snarls filled the air as they lunged at each other, teeth bared and claws out. I tried to separate them, but it was like trying to stop a force of nature.

"What did I say, about low profile?" Riley's voice reverberated.

Riley, visibly frustrated, stood beside the overturned car in the dimly lit street. The very car that Kevin had hurled. Smoke billowed from the engine, flames flickering to life.

Kevin, his chest heaving, glared back at Riley. "I didn't start this, they did," he pointed at the girls, who were baring their teeth at them.

Riley shook his head in exasperation. "It doesn't matter who started it, we can't afford this kind of attention right now. We need to lay low and stay under the radar."

A heavy silence enveloped us, broken only by the crackling fire and the faint whimpering of the humans.

Softly, Riley spoke to us, his voice filled with a sense of foreboding.

"Something's coming. Something... Bigger than any of us alone. And if you can't... ... control yourselves... We're all going to die."

The gravity of Riley's words hung in the air, weighing down on us like an impending storm. We exchanged uneasy glances, the realization sinking in that our actions had far-reaching consequences beyond this chaotic scene.

Kevin, however, paid no heed, as he greedily feasted upon the dying woman. Nearby, Kristie and Jen indulged in their chosen sustenance. Riley, resigned to our lack of control, turned to me with his piercing crimson eyes.

"What's done is done, just... ... clean up after yourselves," he instructed me before swiftly departing, his figure disappearing into the night with remarkable swiftness.

As the flames flickered and the cries of the humans grew fainter, a sense of dread settled over us. The realization that we were not alone in this world, that there were forces beyond our comprehension, weighed heavily on our minds.

I knew that Riley's warning was not to be taken lightly. Whatever was approaching, it was powerful and dangerous. And if we did not heed his words, we would all pay the price.

I looked around at the newborns, their faces twisted in a mix of fear and defiance. We were an army bound by our shared hunger, but now we were faced with a choice. Would we continue down this path of destruction, or would we find a way to restrain ourselves and avoid the impending doom that Riley had forewarned?

Yet, when I shifted my gaze away from the chaotic scene, my eyes fell upon four enigmatic figures cloaked in darkness, standing at a distance. They remained completely still, their piercing gazes fixated on the chaos unfolding before them.

Curiously, they made no move. They simply observed, their presence emanating an aura of mystery and power.

Could they be the something that Riley was talking about a few seconds ago?

The way they stood, so still and composed, made it seem as though time itself had frozen in their presence. Their dark cloaks billowed around them, blending seamlessly with the shadows that surrounded them, further obscuring their features.

I couldn't help but wonder what secrets lay hidden beneath those cloaks, what ancient knowledge they possessed. Were they the legendary Volturi guards, the protectors of the vampire world, as Victoria had described? The thought sent a chill through me, for their reputation preceded them.

As the chaos unfolded before them, their piercing gazes remained fixed, unyielding. It was as if they were observing a grand performance, silently judging every move, every action. Their eyes, hidden in the depths of their hoods, seemed to hold a wisdom that surpassed centuries of existence.

I stood transfixed, my gaze locked on those four mysterious beings. And, as if sensing my scrutiny, they vanished into thin air.

Leaving behind only a lingering sense of their presence, their disappearance only deepened the mystery surrounding them. It was as if they were phantoms, ethereal beings that had momentarily graced our world before retreating back into the shadows from whence they came. 

But their impact remained, their presence etched into the very fabric of my being. The memory of their stillness, their silent observation, haunted my thoughts, leaving me with an insatiable hunger for answers. Who were they? What secrets did they hold? And why had they chosen this moment, this chaotic moment, to reveal themselves?

Beyblades have special abilities, ranging from pretty normal to really weird. Many of these were designed with the bey’s parts in mind. But what if they were like superpowers the bladers could use

Storm Attack (Dragoon Storm): Tyson creates a small tornado at his feet. When he moves, the tornado moves as well. It’s short range so he has to get very close for it to work on others

Vanishing Attack (Dragoon Storm): Tyson moves too fast for the eye to see, making it look like he’s teleporting as he delivers a series of strikes from all directions

Final Attack (Spin Cutter): Carlos dashes towards the opponent at great speed. Getting hit by it feels like getting tackled by a man made out of swords

Phantom Hurricane (Dragoon Fighter): A stronger version of Storm Attack

Fire Arrow (Dranzer Spiral): Kai covers himself in fire and dashes at the opponent. The drawback is that it’s hard to turn tight corners while using it

Spin Fire (Dranzer Spiral): When Kai is in the air, he sets his feet on fire and performs a diving kick

Spiral Survivor (Dranzer Spiral): Kai creates a circle of fire around him. While active, he can’t move so he uses this either to block attacks or to stall for time

Flame Saber (Dranzer Flame): Kai sets his arm on fire and hits you with it (as a jab, backhand, whatever he wants at the time)

Black Flame Saber (Black Dranzer): Flame Saber, but the fire is black and when it hits you, instead of burning it drains some of your life force. When active, Kai can’t use black fire on any other part of his body, leaving him vulnerable

Tiger Claw (Driger Slash): Ray dashes at you quickly. It’s faster and more controlled than Fire Arrow. He can zig zag or do full 180′s in no time

Tiger Fang (Driger Fang): Stronger version of Tiger Claw

Metal Ball Defense (Draciel Shield): Max turns several points in his body into metal to block attacks

Fortress Defense (Draciel Fortress): Max temporarily turns his whole body into metal

Hop Attack (Hopper): Kenny jumps really high to dodge attacks or to perform a diving kick

Nunchuck Shooter (Bruce): Bruce uses nunchucks as a ranged weapon by throwing them like a boomerang

Black Thunder (Galeon): Lee shoots lightning from his hands. It’s not very accurate and affects a large area (acting more like a bomb than an arrow), so he doesn’t use this if he’s worried about someone getting caught in the crossfire

Cat Scratch (Galux): Mariah temporarily grows claws on her fingers and attacks the opponent with them

Bear Ax (Galzzy): Gary leaps in the air and smashes the opponent’s head

Crazy Monkey Attack (Galman): Kevin creates illusions around him. All the illusions move in unison with him (he runs forward and all the illusions run forward)

Fast Ball Attack (Trygle): Michael throws an object (usually a baseball) at super sonic speeds with impressive accuracy

Water Smash (Trygator): Emily summons water (no one knows how. It just appears) and throws it at her opponent in a large wave

Sting Shoot (Trygle): Eddy channels all of his power into one hand, then Eddy jumps in tha air and strikes the opponent’s head with his hand. When using this, he is vulnerable to attacks everywhere except the one hand he channeled all his power to

Stampede Rush (Tryhorn): Steve rushes forward destroying everything in his path

Tony’s unnamed ability: Tony moves around by rythmically jumping. This lets him dodge attacks

Psychedelic Psychout (Andy): Andy covers the environment in bright colors making him harder to spot by blinding the opponent

Wing Dagger (Griffolyon): Robert flies in the air and dives at his opponent

Earth Shake (Unicolyon): Oliver causes a small earthquake with him as the epicenter. If he moves, the epicenter of the earthquake does as well. This move only works if he’s touching the ground

Twin Head Attack (Amphilyon): Enrique temporarily creats a clone of himself and they attack together (it makes more sense that Enrique having 2 very long necks)

Fire Rod (Salamalyon): Johnny heats up his body. Unlike other fire based moves, this one doesn’t have visible effects besides the burning and melting of anything Johnny comes into contact with

Blizzalog (Wolborg 2): Tala creates ice spikes that raise from the ground. They create a dome. Inside the dome, there is a violent blizzard

Stroblitz (Falborg): Bryan manipulates the air around the opponent and envelops them in knives made of wind

Voda Impact (Seaborg): Spencer submerges underwater before quickly swimming to the opponent and striking them

Sand Bind (Wyborg): Ian crawls underground and attacks you from below

Wind Attack (Matryoshka): Like Tyson’s Storm Attack, Alexander creates a small tornado around himself. It’s stronger than Storm Attack but not as powerful as Phantom Hurricane

Drac Attack (Draculor): Sanguinex uses his vampire abilities to deliver a barrage of attacks from above. This only works indoors or at night

Wolf Storm (Lycanlor): Lupinex turns into a wolf and bites you in a way that can only be described as feral. This move is more powerful in a full moon

Unnamed ability (Shamblor): Zomb has superhuman strength and mild regeneration

Unnamed ability (Sarcophalon): Cenotaph can extend his limbs like Mr Fantastic

Triangle Attack (Blade Sharks): Casey, Trevor, and Stuart form an electric barrier connecting them. They trap an opponent inside the triangle and all shoot lightning at the opponent. This move can only be done if all 3 are fighting together

Yak Attack (Andre): Andre charges at the opponent while increasing both his attack and defense. When using the Yak Attack, Andre can only move in a straight line until he stops

Fever Attack (Waylan): Waylan heats up the air around him. This drains the opponent’s energy by dehydrating them from sweating too much. The downside is that Waylan’s heat resistance, while far above average, still doesn’t make him immune to his own attack

Muay Thai Kick (Tommy): Exactly what the name implies

Wool Defense (Bruno, Doug): They are covered in very durable wool. This helps absorb the impact of attacks. However, it only works for blunt force attacks. Cutting attacks go right through it and the wool is flammable making fire attacks very effective against it

Heavy Attack (Bobby): Bobby charges up a punch and delivers it with impressive force. The Heavy Attack focuses on knockback rather than damage (it’s not much stronger than a regular punch but it will easily knock someone across a room)

Big Kahuna Dive (Chucky): Chucky summons a wave that engulfs the opponent while he rides on top of it

Unnamed ability (Star Stripe): McSneeze, J-Heart, and T-Storm all attack the opponent at once. This move can only be performed if they’re all fighting together

Spintsenity (Canarias): If Mario’s opponent is in tha air, Mario will perform a bicycle kick and strike the opponent while they are in mid-air

Rapid Fire (Jose): He has a gun. He fires the revolver multiple times in wuick sucession. Due to Jose’s superhuman skills, the revolver can rival the fire rate of an automatic weapon

Matador Attack (Pedro): He has a sword. Pedro dodges his opponent’s attack and quickly turns to face them and stab them

Battle Ballad (Miguel): Miguel absorbs part of the impact of the opponent’s attacks and sends them back

Iguana Attack (Diego): Diego quickly runs around you and attacks from behind

Seal-Shark Attack (Fernando): Fernando hits you into the air and before you hit the ground, he hits you again. He keeps doing this until he wins or gets bored

Tortoise Grenade (Axel): Axel covers himself in a durable shell and can break out of it to hit the opponent

Decoy Attack (Pinharias): Frankie creats intricate illusions. Each one can move independently but it’s possible to tell which is the real one as long as you keep your eyes on it

Dancing Crash (Samas): Luiz hits you with a series of rythmic precision strikes. Individually, they’re not that damaging but the damage builds up over time. The downside is that by being rythmic it’s predicatble and the opponent can counter

Bree was born in Nevada on March 11, 1990, but lived in Idaho for most of her life. Bree believed that her mother had left her abusive father when she was four; in truth, Bree's father murdered her mother. He buried the body in the desert, then packed up and moved to Idaho with his young daughter. Because of the abuse, Bree felt isolated from her peers. She was a quiet, withdrawn girl. No one ever noticed the signs of her abusive home life, despite some physical evidence.

Finally, Bree could no longer stand his abuse and ran away from home a few weeks before her sixteenth birthday. She had enough money for a bus ride to Seattle, but nothing more than that. She tried unsuccessfully to get a job, and began stealing in order to eat. She slept in parks and alleys—any place where she felt a little bit safe. Her biggest fear was that the police would catch her and send her home to her father. She'd been on the run for less than three weeks when Riley Biers found her behind a restaurant, picking through the trash bins. He offered her a 'burger', then took her into a dark alley where Victoria turned her into a vampire.

After being introduced to her new violent peers, she did her best to avoid them by lingering around Fred, who was gifted with the power to repel people, especially after she got her arm ripped off by Jen at one time though she managed to get it back before she could burn it.

Unbeknownst to her, her mother's bones were found by the police, and when they did not find Bree, they were led to believe that she had met the same fate and arrested her father for both murders.

One night, after three months of becoming immortal, Bree went on a routine hunt in the city with Kevin, a blond vampire who called himself 'Spider-Man' (whose real name was 'Casey'), and a disciplined vampire named Diego. When Kevin and "Spider-Man" started fighting over a human victim, Bree and Diego went hunting on their own and used the time to get to know each other. She realized that he was unusually kind and well-disciplined, unlike her savage coven. They started going over what they'd learned about their coven and came to conclusion that their leader, Victoria, wanted to add numbers to the army, and selecting smart ones wasn't necessary. When the sun arose, Diego and Bree hid in an underwater cave. They later discovered that vampires weren't vulnerable to sunlight, but rather sparkle like diamonds. When their army left Seattle without leaving a clue, Bree and Diego set off to find them on their own until they finally caught their scent and followed it to their new location.

Bree and Diego followed Riley to tell him of their discovery, only to find out more than they've expected to about the world of vampires when the Volturi approached Riley and Victoria. Diego proceeded with his plan while Bree went back to the group and awaited their return. However, Riley later told Bree that Diego had gone with Victoria to watch the Cullens after he informed the army of the plan to destroy the "yellow-eyes". He seemed hard and cold to Bree. That was why Bree was suspicious of their real agenda, but she decided to stick with them until she met up with Diego. When the army departed for war, Bree's new friend, Fred, decided to leave and explore the world, and asked Bree to join him. Although she wanted to, she decided to find Diego.

At the battlefield, she watched the Cullens and werewolves destroy her army, but found no trace of Diego and realized that Victoria and Riley had already killed him for discovering the truth about the sun. Carlisle and Esme Cullen offered her safety in exchange for her surrender, which she accepted. When Jasper Hale saw her, he instinctively crouched to kill her, but Carlisle stopped him and explained that Bree had surrendered. Jasper disapproved, but was convinced by Esme to leave her alone. He agreed to not kill Bree if they let him watch her, since he knew how newborns act.

Once Victoria and Riley were killed, Edward and Bella made their way over to the rest of the Cullens, where they stood by Bree. She found it very hard to resist Bella's intense blood, but managed to barely keep herself under control. The Volturi soon arrived, at which point Jane questioned the group. While acting ignorant to everything they discussed, Bree provided secret information to Edward of everything she knew through her thoughts. Jane believed that Bree was a criminal, despite her ignorance of the laws. But, with the Cullen’s willingness to take responsibility for Bree and her actions, she allowed them to take her in. Jane belied this would be a good way to force a move against them since Bree had been made to fight.

The Cullens took Bree in as one of their own. It wasn’t easy on any of them and things were tense for quite some time. Bree kept to herself a lot at first, scared to get close to anyone after her experiences in Riley’s coven. But, Esme and Carlisle were patient and kind and slowly broke down her barriers.

Request via ask.

Always include what type of request you want me to write.

Specify because specification is very important as it helps me make your request as pleasing as possible, but try not to be too specific as I like the element of surprise.

If you want me to write something from my prompt list (click here): include the name of said character, category of the prompt and the prompt’s respective number (e.g. Jay Halstead, fluff 7). 

1.1 Note: If you don't include what type of request it is that you want me to cook up, I will choose the type myself so don't come at me if you wanted a 2K worded piece of work and instead got an imagine with 200 words!

1.2 Note: Mixing the prompt with a plot line of your own is allowed, just make sure to follow the rules (1-3). 

1.5 THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:

Unless asked for, I will be writing with the Female!reader in mind (I like to exclude any gender relation and make it so that both genders could read and enjoy).

I respond to asks when the request has been qued to post and released on Ao3.

The maximum number of request you can send is 2. I know there is an option to send them in anonymously, but I really hope you will stick to this rule. Give others a chance to submit their wishes, and don’t make the line too big with by mass requesting (I close requests after I get around 30 requests).

Requests sent during seasons I have not watched or for characters that have yet to make an appearance in the show will not be written (exceptions exist).

I write one-shots but not a whole series unless I can see/want a continuation.

Themed requests (Christmas, Valentine's Day, New Year etc.) can be only sent during that time. I don’t accept Christmas requests during the month of May. The same goes for the rest.

I have every right to delete every request that does not fit within the rules stated above, or I feel uncomfortable writing. Also, it’s important to note that I don’t have inspiration to write every request that’s sent. It’s normal to not have inspiration, and because I prefer quality to quantity, if I see that I don’t have inspiration for a request then I will not write it.

Requests will be deleted if sent while my request box is closed. I won’t answer them as I feel like there is no need. On almost every informative post (+my bio, and if you’re on PC my theme under ‘blog status’) it will say whether the request box is closed or not.

English is not my first language but without digging myself my own grave this early on I want to say that I'm proud of how much I know, given that I never speak English unless in school.

6. UPRISING

I COULDN'T HELP BUT WONDER IF THEY HAD witnessed the countless battles and struggles that had shaped our world, if they had stood witness to the rise and fall of empires, the birth and death of civilizations. Their ancient wisdom, hidden beneath those cloaks, held the potential to unlock the secrets of the universe, to reveal the true nature of existence.

Yet, as much as I yearned for answers, a part of me feared the truth. For if they were indeed the Volturi guards, as Victoria had warned, then their presence signaled a darkness that threatened to consume everything in its path. Their notoriety was well-deserved, their reputation as merciless enforcers of vampire law sending chills down the spines of even the most powerful immortals.

But despite the fear that coursed through my veins, I couldn't deny the allure of their enigmatic aura. It was as if they held the key to unlocking a world beyond my wildest dreams, a world where time stood still and secrets whispered in the wind.

As midnight approached, a gathering of newborns assembled to meet Riley and me. Riley, with his dark blonde locks blending seamlessly into the shadows, stood at the center, his piercing scarlet eyes scanning the crowd. I stood by his side, observing the ferocious newborns. Among them, I recognized the familiar faces of Fred, Raoul, Diego, Kristie, Jen, Kevin, Casey, and Bree.

Suddenly, Riley produced a delicate, light red blouse from his pocket. The newborns hissed in response, but I remained unfazed. What was Riley's intention with the blouse? How did he come to possess it? And whose blouse was it, anyway?

Riley lifted the blouse high for everyone to see.

"Each and every one of you will smell this blouse," Riley commanded in his authoritative tone. He made his way to the bottom of the group and handed it to a slender boy. "Inhale its scent and etch it into your memory. This is our prey."

The slender boy took the blouse cautiously, his eyes widening with curiosity and a hint of apprehension. As he brought it closer to his nose, the newborns watched intently, their expressions a mix of anticipation and confusion. The scent of the blouse wafted through the air, a delicate and alluring fragrance that seemed to captivate the entire gathering.

One by one, Riley passed the blouse to each newborn, ensuring that they all had a chance to experience its intoxicating aroma. As the newborns inhaled deeply, their eyes glazed over with a newfound hunger, their instincts awakening within them. The blouse held a power over them, a connection to their primal desires.

But the question remained: whose blouse was it? And how did Riley come to possess it? The mystery hung in the air, adding an air of intrigue to the already enigmatic gathering. Whispers began to circulate among the newborns, speculating on the origins of the blouse and the significance it held for their leader.

Riley, seemingly unaffected by the growing curiosity, continued to distribute the blouse, his red eyes gleaming with a mix of excitement and satisfaction. He knew the power it held, the way it could ignite the dormant instincts within each newborn. It was a tool, a symbol of their shared purpose and their insatiable thirst for blood.

As the last newborn inhaled the scent of the blouse, a collective shiver ran through the crowd. The atmosphere crackled with newfound energy, a sense of unity and purpose that bound them all together. They were no longer just a gathering of newborns; they were a formidable force, ready to unleash their primal nature upon the world.

When it came to me, I eagerly seized it, taking a deep breath. I focused on Riley's instructions.

"Inhale its scent and etch it into your memory. This is our prey."

The aroma filled my nostrils and coursed through my veins, akin to the rush of trying cocaine for the first time. It was both sweet and subtle, yet strangely familiar. Freesia and lavender. But why did it seem so recognizable?

In an instant, I was transported back to a corridor. A school corridor...

I found myself at Forks High School, standing in front of my locker, reaching for a History book when my eyes landed on her. Her luscious brown locks flowed down her back, and her deep chocolate eyes were fixated on the ground. She had a slightly lighter complexion than me, but still lacked the sun-kissed glow that one would expect from someone hailing from Phoenix.

"Hey, you must be the new girl, right?" I approached her, curiosity piqued.

"Y-yeah?" she responded, clearly taken aback.

"Isabella Swan, right?" I inquired.

"Bella, but yes," she replied, a hint of annoyance creeping into her voice.

"I'm Violet Baxter," I introduced myself, extending my hand. She shook it with her left hand. "So, you're from Phoenix, right?"

"Yeah. Did you grow up here in Forks?" she asked.

I nodded. "Aren't people from Phoenix supposed to have a tan?"

"Well, aren't people from Forks supposed to have a British accent?" she retorted.

"I inherited it from my Mummy and Daddy," I replied, playfully adopting a British accent. She couldn't help but snigger.

"Well, my mother was part albino," Bella added, and I couldn't help but giggle softly.

"I suppose we'll be known as The Albino Twins someday," I joked.

Bella chuckled and flashed me a warm smile. "Well, I'll see you later."

"Yeah, see ya," I replied as she walked away.

As I watched her walk away, I couldn't help but feel a sense of connection with Bella. Despite our initial awkward encounter, there was something about her that drew me in. I couldn't wait to get to know her better and maybe even become friends...

As I returned to the present, the floral scents lingered in my nose and mind. It was her scent. The scent of our prey.

Bella Swan. The name echoed in my mind like a haunting melody. She was the prey, the target of Riley's deadly intentions. But why? What had she done to deserve such a fate? Did she even know the danger she was in? The army was closing in, and I couldn't help but wonder if Bella was aware of the looming threat.

And with that, my memories became more clear.

I had a dad named Gavin Baxter, who had never been the father figure I had yearned for. He was present in body, but his mind was always elsewhere. Ever since my mother, Evelyn, passed away during childbirth, Gavin had spiralled into a deep depression, leaving me to fend for myself. He had never been able to cope with the loss of his beloved wife, and as a result, he had neglected his duties as a father.

His happiness had returned in the form of Dina Wyatt, a woman who had captured his heart and soon became my stepmother. And then, two years later, Ayla Wyatt-Baxter was born, and Gavin had taken a keen interest in her, leaving me and Ayla to fend for ourselves. Dina had never seen me as her stepdaughter, but rather as a rival for Gavin's affections. Ayla, on the other hand, had embraced me, and I had grown to love her.

But as time went on, things had taken a turn for the worse. The tension between Gavin, Dina and me had reached a boiling point, and I had no choice but to run away and found myself in Seattle. I had promised Ayla that I would return for her, but deep down, especially when all of this was happening, I knew that it was a promise I could never keep.

And for the past three months, they had turned a blind eye to my disappearance, as if I was nothing more than a mere inconvenience in their lives. But I wasn't surprised by their lack of concern. After all, our relationship had always been strained, to say the least.

As I stood there, surrounded by my fellow newborns, I caught a whiff of her scent, her blouse. Riley had somehow managed to sneak into her bedroom and steal it. The thought of him violating her personal space made raged inside.

But I couldn't dwell on that now. We had to find shelter before the sun rose and exposed us to the world. Riley barked orders at us, and we scattered like frightened animals, searching for a place to hide.

I stumbled upon a small cave near the river and ventured deeper into the darkness. As I turned around, I watched the sun rise from the west, a reminder of the life I had left behind. I couldn't believe that I was here, fighting for a cause I didn't believe in, against people I didn't want to harm.

And then there was Bella. My friend, the only one who made me feel human. I couldn't bear the thought of her being hurt, let alone killed. I hoped she knew about vampires and had some form of protection ready.

"Bree? Bree, where are you?" My voice echoed through the dense forest as I frantically searched for her.

She was probably with Diego again. I couldn't shake off the feeling that she was spending too much time with him lately. Young love, I supposed. What worried me was the impending sunrise, and there was no trace of either of them.

Time was running out, and I feared the consequences of their absence in the face of dawn's relentless approach.

I pushed through the dense undergrowth as I called out her name once more. The forest seemed to close in around me, the shadows growing longer and more menacing as the first light of day began to filter through the trees.

As I continued my frantic search, a sense of panic began to take hold. What if something had happened to her? What if she was hurt, lost, or worse? I quickened my pace at the thought of it, determined to find her before it was too late.

The sun was rising rapidly, yet there was still no sign of them. The black pine trees were slowly transitioning to a shade of evergreen. Soon, the lighter tips would contrast against the darkness, marking the point of no return. This realm of the afterlife would erupt in a fiery blaze, and I could only envision the excruciating pain that would accompany it. Bree and Diego would be caught in the chaos as well.

The silence that greeted me only fueled my fear, sending shivers down my spine. Every rustle of leaves, every snap of a twig, sent my imagination into overdrive, conjuring up all sorts of horrific scenarios.

But I couldn't let myself give in to despair. I had to stay focused, keep searching, keep hoping that I would find them safe and sound. The thought of losing them was unbearable, and I refused to let that become a reality.

As I pressed on, the forest seemed to close in around me, the shadows growing longer and more menacing. But I pushed through, driven by a fierce determination to find them, to bring them back to safety.

Suddenly, a brilliant light from the sun pierced through the darkness, signaling that my quest to find them had come to an unfortunate end. With no shelter in sight to shield me from the sun's harsh rays, I braced myself for an agonizing demise.

The anticipation of a painful death loomed over me, a stark reminder of my failure.

However, death did not claim me today.

Instead, a remarkable sight unfolded before my eyes. My hands, resembling glistening marbles, shimmered like countless diamonds embedded within my very skin.

Confusion washed over me. Should I feel relieved that I wasn't incinerated or enraged at Victoria's deception? She did warn me that a cloudy day was an exception, but she insisted the sun would be our end.

I couldn't comprehend what was happening. How could my hands be transformed into something so ethereal and beautiful? Was this some kind of cruel trick or a miraculous gift?

But I knew one thing now: Diego and Bree were safe from the sunlight.

As I stood there, frozen in awe, a gentle breeze brushed against my face, carrying with it a faint scent of flowers. The scents of freesia and lavender filled my senses, and Bella's image became clearer.

Riley harbored a deadly intent towards her. But why? Was it jealousy, revenge, or something more sinister? My mind raced with questions, but my body remained frozen in awe of the transformation taking place before me.

I reached out tentatively, afraid to disturb the delicate beauty that now adorned my hands. As my fingers brushed against each other, the ethereal glow shimmered, appearing and disappearing like a fleeting dream.

A sudden realization struck me, igniting a flurry of doubts. If Victoria had lied to me, and Riley and the newborns, regarding the veracity of sunlight touching vampire skin, what other lies could she be hiding?

My mind raced with questions, each one more unsettling than the last. Had she been manipulating me all along? Was there a hidden agenda behind her enchanting smile and captivating presence? The doubts gnawed at my conscience, threatening to unravel the delicate trust we had built.

I couldn't help but recall the countless nights spent in her company, the whispered promises of eternal love and companionship. Was it all a facade? A carefully crafted illusion to lure me into her world? I struggled to reconcile the image of the woman I thought I knew with the possibility of a deceitful mastermind.

The fragile elegance that had initially captivated me now seemed like a fragile facade, ready to crumble at the slightest touch. I couldn't shake the feeling that I was standing on the precipice of a revelation, one that would forever alter the course of my existence.

As I withdrew my hand, a mix of fear and determination coursed through my veins. I couldn't let myself be blinded by the allure of her world any longer. It was time to confront Victoria, to demand the truth and unravel the web of deception.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a blanket of darkness over the land, I found myself ready to confront Victoria. It was time for her to reveal the hidden secrets of our existence. I was well aware that we were vampires, but the question lingered in my mind: what specific breed of vampire were we? And more importantly, what extraordinary powers lay dormant within us, waiting to be unleashed?

Were we the ancient and noble Nosferatu, with their hauntingly pale skin and elongated fangs? Or perhaps we were the seductive and alluring Ventrue, known for their ability to manipulate the minds of mortals with just a glance.

Or maybe, and possibly, we were the combination of both these creatures.

The possibilities were endless, and the uncertainty gnawed at my very core. I yearned to understand the depths of our supernatural creation, to uncover the truth that had been concealed from us for far too long. And yet, there was a part of me that feared the revelations that awaited me. What if our species was tainted, cursed with a darkness that could never be escaped? What if the powers that lay dormant within us were too dangerous to be unleashed?

As I approached the desolate warehouse, the echoes of voices pierced through the stillness of the night, like haunting whispers from another realm.

I could feel the weight of hidden secrets and untold stories pressing down on me, urging me to unlock the mysteries that lay hidden within the walls of the abandoned building. The air was thick with anticipation, as if the very atmosphere itself was holding its breath, waiting for me to uncover the truth that had been buried for so long.

Concealed in the darkness, I became invisible, allowing me to listen intently to the surroundings. With each passing moment, the low, romantic sounds were suddenly interrupted, capturing my attention.

"How many?" a voice asked, its tone muted by distance yet distinct. It was a voice I recognized all too well. Victoria. High-pitched and manipulative.

Riley's proud response filled the air, "Twenty-two."

Twenty-two. That was the number I had last counted. They must be referring to the newborns, the ones they were discussing.

Riley's voice carried a mix of relief and pride as he shared the news. "I thought I'd lost two more to the sun, but one of my older kids is... obedient," he said, his tone tinged with affection when referring to his 'kids'. "He has an underground place - he hid himself with the younger one."

The question hung in the air, causing a momentary silence. This time, there was no trace of romance, only a hint of tension that seemed palpable even from a distance.

"Yeah. He's a good kid, I'm sure," Riley replied, his voice filled with certainty.

Another strained pause followed, leaving me puzzled by the question. What did she mean by asking if he was sure? Did she doubt that he had firsthand knowledge of the situation?

"Twenty-two is good," she pondered, and the tension seemed to dissipate. "How is their behavior developing? Some of them are almost a year old. Do they stil follow the normal patterns?"

"Yes," Riley affirmed. "Everything you told me to do worked flawlessly. They don't think - they just do what they've always done. I can always distract them with thirst. It keeps them under control. "

"You've done so well," Victoria cooed, followed by the sound of a kiss. "Twenty-two!"

Riley's eagerness was evident in his next question. "Is it time?"

Her response came swiftly, cutting through the air like a sharp slap. "No! I haven't decided when."

Confusion clouded Riley's face as he uttered, "I don't understand."

With a hint of condescension, Victoria replied, "You don't need to. It's enough for you to know that our enemies have great powers. We cannot be too careful."

Her tone softened, returning to its saccharine sweetness. "But we have all the twenty-two still alive. Even with what they are capable of. . . what good will it be against twenty-two?"

A tinkling laugh escaped her lips, adding a touch of whimsy to the conversation.

"Decisions, decisions," she muttered to herself. "Not yet. Maybe one more handful, just to be sure. "

"Adding more might actually decrease our numbers," Riley warned, treading carefully not to cause any offense. "It's always unstable when a new group is introduced. "

"True," she nodded in understanding, and I pictured Riley exhaling in relief that she wasn't angered.

Suddenly, I noticed what had caught my attention.

Four cloaked figures traversed the vast expanse of the open field towards the grand house. Emerging from the western side, the farthest point from our concealed position, they appeared as ordinary individuals at first glance, donning long, dark cloaks with deep hoods. However, their movements possessed an uncanny grace and control, almost bordering on elegance.

It dawned on me that these were the very same figures I had spotted the previous night. Were they the Volturi? Or could they be our adversaries?

Silently, the figures glided over the long grass, their dark cloaks barely making a sound. A part of me wanted to flee, to escape the potential danger they might bring. Yet, I hesitated, fearing that any sudden movement might draw their attention towards us.

Instead, I observed their seamless progression, taking note of peculiar details. They maintained a flawless diamond formation, never faltering even as the terrain beneath their feet shifted. The figure positioned at the forefront of the diamond was noticeably smaller than the rest, its cloak possessing a deeper shade of darkness. Curiously, they did not appear to be tracking their way in, disregarding any scent or trail. It was as if they possessed an innate knowledge of their destination. Perhaps they were invited, guided by an unseen force.

The figures concealed in their cloaks had entered the room without a sound, their presence immediately noticeable. However, an eerie silence hung in the air as both she and Riley refrained from speaking, a clear indication that we were all aware of the danger that loomed before us.

In a languid and commanding tone, a voice broke the silence, devoid of any emotion. It wasn't as high-pitched as Victoria's voice, but it possessed a more youthful and feminine quality.

"Don't bother," the voice stated lazily. "I think you know who we are, so you must know that there is no point in trying to surprise us. Or hide from us. Or fight us. Or run."

A deep, masculine chuckle, one that clearly did not belong to Riley, reverberated ominously throughout the house.

"Relax," the first voice, belonging to the cloaked girl, instructed in a tone devoid of inflection. Her voice had a distinct quality that left no doubt in my mind that she was a vampire, not a ghost or any other kind of nightmare. "We're not here to destroy you. Yet. "

A moment of silence followed, broken only by faint movements and a slight shifting of positions.

"If you are not here to kill us, then. . . what?" Victoria's voice trembled with strain and shrillness.

"We seek to know your intentions here. Specifically, if they involve. . . a certain local clan," the cloaked girl explained. "We wonder if they have anything to do with the mayhem you've created here. Illegally created."

My eyes widened, and I instinctively pressed my lips together. They were the Volturi, but none of this made any sense, and the mention of illegality in relation to vampires was the most perplexing part of it all.

"Yes," Victoria whispered venomously. "My plans are all about them. But we can't move yet. It's tricky." A touch of petulance tainted her voice as she concluded her statement.

"Trust me, we know the difficulties better than you. It is remarkable that you've managed to keep off the radar, so to speak, for this long. Tell me," a flicker of curiosity laced through the monotone, "how are you doing it?"

Victoria hesitated, her words tumbling out in a hurried manner, as if she had been silently coerced. "I haven't made the decision," she spat out, her reluctance evident. Then, with a reluctant slowness, she added, "To attack. I've never decided to do anything with them. "

"Rough, but effective," the cloaked girl remarked. "Unfortunately, your period of deliberation has come to a close. You must decide - now - what you will do with your little army. Otherwise, it wil be our duty to punish you as the law demands. This reprieve, however short, troubles me. It is not our way. I suggest you give us what assurances you can. . . quickly.”

My eyes widened even further.

"We'll go at once!" Riley eagerly volunteered, and a sharp hiss followed.

"We'll go as soon as possible," Victoria corrected angrily. "There is much to do. I assume you wish us to succeed? Then I must have a little time to get them trained - instructed - fed!"

This was stated with unwavering certainty.

"Five days. We will come for you then. And there is no rock you can hide under or speed at which you can flee that wil save you. If you have not made your attack by the time we come, you wil burn. "

This was said with no menace other than an absolute certainty.

"And if I have made my attack?" Victoria inquired, visibly shaken.

"We'll see," the cloaked girl responded in a more cheerful tone than before. "I suppose that al depends on how successful you are. Work hard to please us. "

The final command was delivered in a cold, stern tone that sent a shiver down my spine.

"Yes," Victoria hissed.

"Yes," Riley murmured softly.

Moments later, the cloaked vampires slipped out of the house without a sound. I exhaled once they were gone. Inside, Victoria and Riley remained silent. Another ten minutes ticked by in complete quiet.

"Well," she whispered, "Now they know."

Was she referring to the cloaks or the coven? Which was the greater concern?

"That doesn't matter. We outnumber-."

"Any warning matters!" she snapped, interrupting him. "There is so much to do. Only five days!" She sighed. "No more messing around. You start tonight. "

"I won't fail you!" Riley vowed.

Victoria nodded, her expression unreadable. "Good. Remember, failure is not an option."

With that, she turned and left the room, leaving Riley alone to prepare for the task ahead. And soon, I ran out of my hiding spot, hoping neither of them spotted me.

And as the battle drew near, I made a decision. If I survived, I would leave this life behind. I couldn't continue to live like this, fighting for a cause I didn't believe in. But for now, I had to focus on the task at hand and hoped that Bella would make it out alive.

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Complete Easter Egg and Reference Guide

The following contains spoilers for The Umbrella Academy season 2. 

The Umbrella Academy wears its influences on its sleeve. Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá’s original comic and the Netflix series it was adapted into pay a great debt to properties like X-Men, Doom Patrol, and even The Royal Tenenbaums.

Now for its second season, The Umbrella Academy is even more devoted to Easter eggs, references, and many other real life and pop culture homages. This batch of episodes takes the Hargreeves family back to the early ‘60s where they encounter a whole new host of inspirations.

“There are tons,” showrunner Steve Blackman says of season 2 Easter eggs. “We specifically wanted to sit down and say, ‘Here are the Easter eggs we want to put in, let’s make a list of them.’ They’re everywhere. I think the fans will get a real kick once you start realizing what we’ve put in.”

Follow along with us as we catalogue every possible Easter egg and reference in The Umbrella Academy season 2. Hopefully we can clarify a thing or two about this season along the way. And hopefully you, dear reader, can help point out what we surely missed.

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Episode 1: Right Back Where We Started

This episode takes its name from Maxine Nightingale’s “Right Back Where We Started From.” And indeed that song plays as the Hargreeves family arrives in the ‘60s and tries to acclimate to their surroundings. 

The season opens with the lunar-induced apocalypse that kills billions of people on Earth. The world’s destruction was essentially confirmed at the end of The Umbrella Academy season 1 but is re-confirmed here. In the original comic book, the planet is destroyed midway through volume 2 “Dallas” when Hazel and Cha-Cha detonate a nuke they stole from Reginald Hargreeves’s stash. Thankfully in this season, just as in “Dallas,” The Umbrella Academy makes it safely back in time and gets a chance to undo things.

For organizational purposes here is where each member of The Umbrella Academy lands in the early 1960s, along with what movie is playing on the local cinema’s marquee:

February 11, 1960 – Klaus and Ben –  The movie is Curse of the Undead.

1961 – Allison – The movie is The Curse of the Werewolf.

1962 – Luther – Movie not visible.

September 1, 1963 – Diego – Movie not visible.

October 12, 1963 – Vanya – The movie is Kiss of the Vampire.

November 25, 1963 – Five – Movie is still Kiss of the Vampire.

The song playing during this latest apocalypse is Frank Sinatra’s “My Way.”

This thrilling series finale-esque apocalypse sequence also provides viewers with a decent reminder of what each Umbrella siblings’ power is:

Vanya uses sound to generate enormous, explosive power. 

Klaus can communicate with the dead and in this instance is even able to summon the ghosts of U.S. soldiers to do battle against the Soviets.

Luther is super strong. And surprisingly flame retardant. 

Ben (still dead) is able to produce monstrous tentacles from his stomach. In the comic series it is explained that he summons monsters from another dimension. 

Allison quite literally possesses the power of suggestion. Her phrase “I heard a rumor” bewitches whoever hears it to do what she says. 

Diego is super accurate with knives and seemingly takes his combat training more seriously than anyone in the Academy. In the comics, Diego  is able to survive without breathing but for the second season in the row that appears to have not made it to the TV show. “You got Jason Momoa doing that a hundred times better anyway,” David Castañeda told Den of Geek during a set visit. 

Number Five can travel through time but obviously rather imprecisely. He uses that power on a smaller scale to pop through space-time during fist fights.

Hazel makes his triumphant and brief return to the series…looking somewhere between Nick Offerman and Gandalf. He likes to call Five “old-timer” because despite having his childhood body, Five is actually in his late ‘50s. 

This time around, the world will end on November 25, 1963 – notably three days after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas. 

Diego trots out a Star Wars joke about Luke Skywalker’s daddy issues that obviously no one in the asylum is able to understand, with Star Wars 14 years away from release. 

Diego’s friend at the hospital is new character Lila, played by Ritu Arya. Lila has no comparable character in the comic series and is purely a show invention. Arya is best known for her work in Humans and Last Christmas.

Klaus and Ben were in San Francisco for three years before heading back to Dallas. In that time, Klaus started a cult. California was a hotspot for cults in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. Klaus was a little ahead of the game. 

Allison is preparing to participate in a sit-in with her Black peers. As early as the ‘40s but chiefly during the ‘50s and early ‘60s, sit-ins were tactics used by Civil Rights organizers in which protesters would occupy an area and refuse to move. Some of the most famous sit-ins involved Black Americans sitting at lunch counters or tables in all-white restaurants and requesting service. As Dan Fienberg points out in his season 2 review, Civil Rights organizers had largely ceased this practice by 1963.

The song playing during Diego’s time in isolation is a cover of Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” by Daniela Andrade.

The song playing as Diego and Lila escape is “Comin’ Home Baby” by Mel Tormé. 

Luther is working for Jack Ruby – an unlikely important figure in American history. Ruby was a well-known nightclub owner in Dallas who was tied to mob activities such as illegal gambling, drugs, and prostitution. On November 24, 1963 (one day before the world “ends”), Ruby approached JFK’s killer Lee Harvey Oswald as police were escorting him from prison to court and fatally shot him at close range. 

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Episode 2: The Frankel Footage

The title of this episode is clearly a take on “The Zapruder Film.” The Zapruder Film is footage of the JFK assassination recorded by Texas clothing manufacturer Abraham Zapruder. It is believed to be the most complete visual documentation of the JFK assassination and was used by the Warren Commission that investigated the asssassination. It’s also become fodder for conspiracy theories.

In the reality of The Umbrella Academy, The Frankel Footage is what Hazel slipped into Five’s pocket before he died. It documents JFK’s motorcade from the perspective of Dan and Ethel Frankel on Dealey Plaza. The Frankel Footage uncovers none other than Reginald Hargreeves holding an umbrella on the grassy knoll. 

Interestingly, “The Umbrella Man” is a real figure in the complicated lore of the JFK assassination. A figure holding a black umbrella appears in the Zapruder film and at one point spins his umbrella as the President’s motorcade passes by. This led to theories that, among other things, the umbrella man was a CIA plant who signaled to Lee Harvey Oswald via his umbrella to fire the fatal shots. In reality, the Umbrella Man was discovered to be Louie Steven Witt in 1978. Witt said he brought the umbrella to the motorcade to heckle Kennedy. Kennedy’s father Joe had been a fan of Nazi-appeasing British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain. A black umbrella was Chamberlain’s trademark accessory. 

The Handler lives! A bullet to the head doesn’t do as much damage as one would think on The Umbrella Academy. “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo” from Cinderella plays as The Handler is spared from the incinerator. 

The Handler’s boss at the Commission is a goldfish in a tank atop an otherwise human body. His name is “A.J.” and later on it’s revealed his last name is “Carmichael.” This comes directly from The Umbrella Academy comic where the head of the “Temps Aeternalis” is revealed to be a shubunkin goldfish named Carmichael. 

“Well it finally happened – that gorilla DNA took over your mind,” Five tells Luther. This quick aside confirms that Reginald utilized gorilla DNA to save Luther’s life after a mission gone wrong. 

“Who’s Diego?” Elliot (Kevin Rankin) asks Five. “Imagine Batman and then aim lower,” Five responds. 

When Klaus meets one of his old followers in a holding cell and the follower asks for words of wisdom, Klaus replies with “Don’t go chasing waterfalls. Stick to the rivers and the lakes that you’re used to.” This is a lyric from TLC’s 1995 song “Waterfalls.” 

All the “Children of the Prophet” have “Hello” and “Goodbye” tattooed or scribbled on either palm. This is in reference to Klaus’s tattoos of the same nature. In the comics, Klaus’s callsign is “The Seance” and those tattoos mimic the setup of most Ouija boards. 

Reginald Hargreeves owns D.S. Umbrella in Dallas. We see him open this business in the enigmatic opener of The Umbrella Academy season 1’s final episode. That episode also seemed to suggest that he’s an alien. 

Baby Pogo makes his first appearance! Pogo is a chimpanzee with the intelligence of a human. He was Hargreeves’s steadfast friend and probably the only positive influence in the young Hargreeves children’s lives. He was killed by Vanya in season 1. 

Five finds an invitation to Hargreeves from the Consulate of Mexico and one Mr. Hoyt Hillenkoetter. Roscoe Henry Hillenkoetter was the first director of the CIA in real life. 

The song playing as Diego fights his father is “I’m a Man” by Spencer Davis Group.

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Episode 3: The Swedish Job

“The Swedish Job” is likely a reference to the classic ‘60s action film (and its 2003 remake) The Italian Job.

Let’s talk about The Swedes a little more. The Swedes are not present in the Umbrella Academy comic book. They fill a similar role to what Hazel and Cha-Cha do in the second volume of the comic as agents of The Commission (or Temps Aeternalis in the book). But with the show having burned Hazel and Cha-Cha on season 1, it likely needed a replacement here. Most assassins in the Commission are colorful characters so The Swede’s pale weirdness makes enough sense. 

“Sunny” by Boney M. plays over the opening montage of Klaus’s time as a cult leader.

Five is tracking soundwaves at Morty’s as that’s a surefire way to find Vanya. 

The man holding a “The End is Nigh” sign is certainly an homage to Watchmen. Watchmen was influential for Umbrella Academy writer Gerard Way…and just about everyone else. 

The Handler’s outfit as she intimidates a child at a pet shop closely resembles ‘60s fashion popularized by Jackie Onassis Kennedy – fitting given this season’s focus. 

Five’s coffee obsession continues apace in this episode. 

Klaus meets Dave, the love of his life, at Glenoak’s Hardware. Klaus had previously traveled to the 1960s in season 1 where he joined the Vietnam war effort and fell in love with fellow soldier Dave. Dave obviously has no recollection of it as it hasn’t happened for him yet. Or maybe it never will…time travel is weird. 

The song playing at episode’s end is “Golden Brown” by The Stranglers. 

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Episode 4: The Majestic 12

“The Majestic 12” is a real organization…or purported to be real by conspiracy theorists. It’s said that The Majestic 12 was created by Harry S. Truman in 1947 and made up of scientists, military leaders, and government officials to investigate alien spacecraft. Elliot describes the Majestic 12 as a “shadow government.” Of course Reginald Hargreeves would be a part of it.

The Handler recovered young Lila in London, England in 1993. She appears to be about four years old at that time. If so, that would put her birth year at a very significant…1989.

The music budget this season continues to be insane. The song playing as Klaus falls back into alcoholism and addiction is Styx’s “Renegade.” Obviously.

Luther is enjoying some Texas barbecue when he encounters Allison again. This leads to two relevant points.

Texas barbecue is the best in the country.

With Luther’s increased appreciation for food, The Umbrella Academy season 2 is paying slight homage to the comic’s “Fat Luther” storyline. Following the events of the first comic volume, Luther becomes complacent, depressed, and ultimately, obese. “There’s certainly a nod to that in this season,” Tom Hopper told Den of Geek. “There was a question mark over the fact that Thor did the whole thing already (in Avengers: Endgame.”

Diego meets his mother at the swanky Dallas party. When Diego and his siblings knew “Grace,” she was merely a robot created by Reginald. Here she is a living, breathing woman who knows her date by “Reggie.” 

Harlan has a sparrow toy. Make note of this as sparrow imagery pops up a few times this season. Birds are all over The Handler’s clothing choices for instance. That ends up being tremendously relevant to the conclusion of season 2. 

Sissy and Vanya share a kiss and then more. Vanya is the second confirmed LGBTQ Umbrella Academy member. “Having that be such a big part of the show and Vanya’s life is exciting for me,” Ellen Page told Den of Geek. 

Luther just flat out loves drugs now. After his LSD trip in season 1, he follows that up with nitrous this season. That leads to this hilarious exchange with Elliot:

“My dad died too. He left me on the moon.” *howling, uncontrollable laughter*

The song at episode’s end is “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” by KISS. 

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Episode 5: Valhalla

The episode’s title is named after “Valhalla,” a majestic hall ruled over by Odin in Asgard in Norse mythology. 

Poor Pogo was a space monkey. The United States, U.S.S.R., and France launched dozens of primates into space from 1948 through 1996 (!!!) to test space flight’s effects on humanity’s close cousins. When Pogo’s space flight went poorly, Reginald appears to have resurrected him with a similar serum to which he gave Luther. Is it possible that Luther got gorilla DNA and Pogo got human DNA?

Luther took a bus trip to see his father in the ‘60s. And the map that displays Luther’s trip offers up an interesting clue as to the whereabouts of The Umbrella Academy. The Umbrella Academy is filmed in Toronto though it’s never mentioned what city Toronto is standing in for in the show. In the comics it’s known as only “The City.” Here, Luther’s bus ride seems to end around Indianapolis of all places. It seems as though The Umbrella Academy is in the Midwest. 

Ambrosia was a gelatinous fruit salad popular in the ‘60s. It was and is an affront to humanity. 

The team’s breakdown of the many ways they could have destroyed the timeline is amusing to say the least:

“Diego has been stalking Lee Harvey Oswald.” – Luther

“You’ve been working for Jack Ruby!” – Diego

“Allison has been very involved in local politics.” – Klaus 

“Ok, you started a cult.” – Allison 

“I’m just a nanny on a farm. I don’t have anything to do with all of that.” – Vanya

“Face it. The only healthy relationship in this family is when Five was banging that mannequin,” Klaus says. This is a reference to Five’s mannequin lover, Dolores, from his time alone in the post-apocalypse future. 

Klaus, Allison, and Vanya dance to Sam Cooke’s “Twistin’ the Night Away.” 

The song playing as Five and Lila fight is a ska cover of Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy” by The Interrupters. 

The song playing as the two surviving Swedes consign their fallen brother to Valhalla is a cover of Adele’s “Hello” by Swedish artist My Kullsvik.

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Episode 6: A Light Supper

Reginald invites his “pursuers” to 1624 Magnolia Street, Dallas. This address appears to be a parking lot currently. 

“So there was a Black president?” Raymond asks Allison of the future. There was indeed, Ray.

“Hold on I’m Coming” by Sam and Dave plays as Allison and Ray have their day out on the town. 

“Sixteen years in the grave and you finally turned into your father,” Klaus tells Ben. Given the Hargreeves’s 1989 birth year and 2019 current year of the show, Ben must have been around 14 when he died. 

Dave has already signed up for the Army ahead of schedule, suggesting that the Hargreeves’ presence in 1963 really is altering the timeline. 

The song playing as the Hargreeves approach their Tiki Lounge meeting is “The Order of Death” by Public Image Ltd.

Ben can now officially inhabit Klaus. This is an evolution of Klaus’s power of being able to communicate with the dead. Robert Sheehan said of this development: “(Klaus) can’t be as selfish anymore because (Ben) has this thing over me that he can do. We have a lot of fun with it and stuff, but it’s kind of about sobriety. I think Klaus and Ben’s relationship is entirely about sobriety versus addiction, for somebody who’s lived with addiction for so long.”

As Five will tell Luther and Diego in episode 7, Öga for  Öga is Swedish for “An eye for an eye.”

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Episode 7: Öga for Öga

A candy bar in the vending machine in 1982 Oshkosh, Wisconsin is a “Pogos-Gogos.” Pogo was likely a famous pop culture figure due to his space flight…and ability to speak English.

When Five takes an axe to the Commission executive board in 1982 Wisconsin, it’s hard not to think of American Psycho. Aiden Gallagher is a dead ringer for a young Patrick Bateman.

The song playing as Ben experiences life in Klaus’s body is “Sister of Pearl” by Baio.

We find out the name of Klaus’s cult is “Destiny’s Children.” Klaus is really working his knowledge of ‘90s R&B groups here.

The song playing as Allison battles The Swedes is “Everybody” by Backstreet Boys.

“I heard a rumor you killed your brother,” Allison tells one of the two remaining Swedes. It’s not clear why she assumes that they are brothers. But the fact that the lead Swede follows through means that Allison was correct. Otherwise The Swede would have hopped on a plane to seek out his real brother to kill.

“It was a simple task – just be here! We didn’t have to kill a giant sea serpent, fight off an army of mutants,” Five says of his team’s failure to rendezvous at the right time to escape the ’60s. The “kill a giant sea serpent” could be a reference to a brief moment in the comic’s one-off issue “But the Past Ain’t Through With You.” Sometime in the past, The Umbrella Academy defeated a sea serpent that attacked Japan because it was insulted that a toy-maker make unlicensed plush toys of it.

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Episode 8: The Seven Stages

The FBI does have an office in Dallas but it’s about 10 miles away from Dealey Plaza and not directly behind the grassy knoll as depicted here. Or at least that’s what they want you to think…

Vanya is able to reflexively answer the FBI questioner back in Russian because Reginald Hargreeves was a strict teacher of foreign languages to The Umbrella Academy. 

Grace finds photos of Fidel Castro, Lyndon B. Johnson, JFK, and a map of his motorcade route in Reggie’s files. This is a clear indication to her that Reggie is involved in an upcoming attempt against the President’s life. Grace also sees plans for a “televator.” This is the elevator teleportation device Reginald will one day build.

There are five stages of grief but apparently seven stages of side effects from confronting one’s self in the same timeline. Five lists them out thusly:

1. Denial

2. Itching

3. Extreme Thirst and Urination

4. Excessive Gas

5. Acute Paranoia

6. Uncontrolled Perspiration

7. Homicidal Rage

As Vanya begins her LSD trip, the song that plays is “Pepper” by Butthole Surfers. Some of the lyrics are particularly apt for this season – “they were all in love with dying, they were doing it in Texas.”

Diego discovers that Vanya will be the cause of the apocalypse yet again in 1963, which makes an argument that The Umbrella Academy operates under Devs-style determinism.

Around the 23-minute mark someone holding a Cha-Cha mask can be seen off in the distance at Commission HQ. The individual’s face can’t be seen but it’s not out of the question that this could be Cha-Cha. Commission assassins appear to age in an unusual manner. Alternatively this could be an assassin who donned the cartoonish helmet before Cha-Cha. Showrunner Steve Blackman says that either interpretation is valid: “In the Commission, it’s always 1963, but it never changes time. So that very well could have been Cha-Cha holding the mask.”

In her LSD nightmare, Vanya is chastised by Reginald for wanting to live “a silly life on a silly farm.” One of the issues of “Dallas” is titled “A Perfect Life” and deals partly with Luther imagining a tranquil domestic life with Allison. 

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Episode 9: 743

The episode gets its name from the case number in which Five executed Lila’s parents on The Handler’s orders.

Klaus references Antonio Banderas in complimenting Diego’s hair. Diego is legitimately touched. 

Much of this episode takes place in or around Dealey Plaza – the location where John F. Kennedy was assassinated. The sections of note in Dealey Plaza are the book depository where Lee Harvey Oswald fired his rifle from and the grassy knoll where some people believe a second shooter shot JFK. The Umbrella Academy doesn’t make a trip to the book depository but does briefly show the grassy knoll with Reggie Hargreeves and his umbrella. Luther and the two Fives spend most of their time in a parking lot behind the grassy knoll.

Fittingly, the song that plays as young Five fights old Five is “Dancing With Myself” by Billy Idol’s band Generation X.

Much of Vanya’s acid trip is set to Bach’s “Partita No. 2 in D Minor” on violin. There is a lot of violin imagery as well. This is fitting given Vanya’s aptitude for the instrument. She receives the villainess name “White Violin” in the comic series.

“Dad treated you like a bomb before you were one,” Ben tells Vanya.  The final issue of The Umbrella Academy Volume 1 is titled “Finale, Or, Brothers and Sisters, I Am an Atomic Bomb.”

Ben also tells Vanya he died “17 years ago” which seems at odds with Klaus’s declaration that Ben died “16 years ago.” Klaus and Ben have been in Dallas for three years though, so Ben died 19-20 years ago, depending on who is right. The year is also 1963 so Ben technically won’t die for another 42 or 43 years. Time travel is weird. 

Luther and Young Five send Old Five back to the very start of The Umbrella Academy series, which avoids a truly mind-bending number of paradoxes. 

Though it was teased in the show’s first season, Reginald Hargreeves reveals himself to be well and truly an alien in the final moments of this episode. Reggie unzips his skin mask, discards it, and then violently murders his Majestic 12 colleagues at the Tiki Lounge for them killing Kennedy against his wishes. This is a bit of information that the comic book is shockingly upfront about, casually revealing on the series’ second-ever page that Hargreeves is an alien and never addressing it further. 

Before they’re slaughtered, the Majestic 12 claim that Reggie has interests on the dark side of the Moon. Perhaps Luther’s trip to the moon wasn’t pointless after all. 

The episode concludes with a new song from Umbrella Academy creator and My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way called “Here Comes the End.”

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Episode 10: The End of Something

This is the first time we’ve seen Ben’s funeral. His little casket is covered with squid iconography – a tribute to his power. 

The Umbrella Academy are now all suspects in JFK’s death. That’s bound to change the timeline, right? Indeed it probably does based on this episode and the season’s conclusion. It’s also interesting just how inherently suspicious each member of the Umbrella Academy would be to 1963 society. Vanya has an Eastern European-sounding name and can speak Russian. Diego is Cuban. Allison is a Black revolutionary. Luther is an enormous bare-knuckle brawler. Klaus is a cult leader. All intimidating stuff. 

The army of Commission goons that The Handler summons to take care of the Umbrella team is full of colorful masks and helmets a la Hazel and Cha-Cha. 

On our set visit for The Umbrella Academy season 2, Five actor Aiden Gallagher revealed that several characters would discover “sub-powers” Gallagher said: “I was talking to Steve (Blackman) about this, and how it works is in season one, we sort of get hints about all the characters powers and in season two, we really see more so the extent how far that can go. How different elements of each character’s powers actually means that they have this sub-power.” Diego seems to come across a subpower in this final battle when he appears to be able to stop bullets. Blackman explains the power thusly:

“If you think about Diego’s power, he can, with his mind, control trajectory of objects. Basically he likes throwing, so he can throw his knife and he can make it go in weird, odd curvatures and directions. All of them stopped their training in their adolescence when the family broke up, and they are still learning about their powers and their powers are still evolving. As I go through seasons we’ll see more of that. But moving a knife through the air – an extension of that is then being able to manipulate bullets through the air.”

Speaking of powers, Lila appears to have…well, all of them. Lila displays Vanya’s power, Allison’s power, and Five’s power in fights with each of them. But as Klaus, likely correctly, theorizes later, Lila can only mirror one of their powers at a time. Her ability is mimicry. Diego surmises that this means Lila is one of them – one of the 43 children born on October 1, 1989. That’s why The Handler went out of her way to kill her parents and adopt her. 

Allison leaves a letter for Ray in a copy of Jules Verne’s From the Earth to the Moon. A fitting book for the story of The Umbrella Academy and this season. 

The song playing during the closing montage is a cover of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Games” by Parra for Cuva featuring Anna Naklab.

Luther calls Jack Ruby, presumably to convince him not to kill Lee Harvey Oswald. But Jack has already picked up his gun. 

Ah, The Sparrow Academy. We delved deep into what the ending of The Umbrella Academy season 2 means over here. For now, know that The Sparrow Academy is likely lifted from Volume 3 of The Umbrella Academy comics, “Hotel Oblivion.” We say “likely” because the team doesn’t have an official name but it does invoke a lot of Sparrow imagery. The Sparrow Academy turns up at the very end of volume “Hotel Oblivion.” In the show, The Sparrow Academy seems to exist in an alternate universe created by The Umbrella Academy’s actions in Dallas. In the comic, it is implied that they are simply seven other extraordinary children born on October 1, 1989. This could prove to be the case in the show as well…save for Ben Hargreeves, who we are obviously already familiar with.

Man of Steel marked not only the return of Superman to the big screen, but also the beginning of the so-called DCEU, the DC Universe in theaters. During his panel at the San Diego Comic-Con, screenwriter David Goyer commented on some of the most controversial points of the production, recalling that an initial idea was a more “realistic” approach for the hero, just as done with Batman alongside Christopher Nolan

However, the alien nature of Superman added some difficulties that the team had not encountered in Batman, such as imagining how the real world would be affected by the appearance of an alien, which in Goyer's words would be “the greatest event in history of humanity ”.After discussing some of the decisions made by the team, the writer started talking about the tornado scene in which Clark Kent (Henry Cavill) watches his father Jonathan (Kevin Costner) get taken away by a tornado. For Goyer, the question was more about the hero's inexperience than the fear of revealing his identity. “People have to remember that Clark must have been 17 at the time. He had not been tested and did not know the extent of his powers. (...) And on the other side he has his father in his head saying ‘you have to be very careful’ ”.

Another point in the film that generated controversy among the audience was the conclusion of the fight between Superman and Zod (Michael Shannon), in which the hero kills his enemy. Claiming that he understands people who don't like this outlet, David Goyer went back to talking about the lack of experience of this specific version of the hero. “There is a rule that Superman does not kill, but that is a rule imposed in a fictional world. (...) But this is an immature Superman who just learned to fly. (...) He does not know the extent of his powers and is fighting someone who would never stop. ”

Pondering the fact that there are risks of not pleasing any decision made in the construction of a story, the screenwriter revealed that this moment would be Superman's way of establishing his rule of never killing. "The intention is that he would be in that terrible position and then vows never to do that again," he said.

At the end of the conversation, David Goyer revealed that he came to think of an alternative to the possibility of not being able to kill Zod. According to the author, the solution found by Superman would be to put the villain in one of the Kryptonian ships and send him into space. "But it would be a lame excuse compared to what we were doing so far," he says.
