jo considered the offer, watching the other with her head tilted just slightly to one side. "the first one," she said as she focused her gaze back on the game when the bell dinged and she refocused her attention on trying to beat both val and the eight year olds surrounding them. "if you wanna play double or nothing after, we can go with the second on."
Had it been another stage in her life, Valerie's bet would've been high. From Vegas to Monaco, the name Valerie Langham had echoed through cities and countries with stories about the youngest Langham child ventures with gambling. Those years seemed like many lifetimes ago, so far away from her grasp. Yet, some of the spirit she had nursed from those adventures still lived within her and they shinned every once in a while, like with strangers in some fair she wasn't supposed to attend in the first place. Val grabbed a hair-tie from her wrist and used it to tie her curly hair back. "Safe bet would be winner gets a drink of choice from whatever pop-up shop we can find" a pause, "The other option can be letting the other person choose what the loser does for— let's say, 10 minutes" she shrugged.

Willow isn’t the type to have one night stands, so when she lets it slip to Val that she had one a few months ago, she knows she’s in trouble. “Okay, okay! If I tell you, do you promise not to tell anyone else? And then completely forget about this conversation?”

CLOSED STARTER for @valerieximeneswerewolf LOCATION: Alders family home, Echo Acres WHEN: August 23rd, mid-afternoon
·✥·
Outside the house, covered in splintered wood and chips of paint, Nico paused. He slowly came back to the present. He may have gotten a bit carried away, he realized, surveying the mess he’d made. He froze as he caught the scent of someone else, close. Panting, he wheeled on them, ready to lash out if they’d come to take advantage of how far he’d dropped his guard. It wasn’t at like him to be so nervous, far from it, but he’d been so lost in what he was doing that the instinct took over before he could soothe it away. His chest ached, his lungs felt filled with something corrosive that he couldn’t escape. But then he recognized her. His claws receded, his breathing evened to something closer to human. Running shaky hands through his sweat-sticky hair, he took a second to compose himself, and try to come up with a plausible explanation that might help him save face. The porch was well and truly destroyed, from the steps to the front door nothing but splinters. “Ah...” He gave his new packmate an apologetic look. “Sorry for the mess. Doing… renovations.” He wiped his palms on his jeans and attempted a smile. “It’s…” He searched his mind for her name, among all the others that he’d tried to hold in his mind the last week and a half. “Valerie, isn’t it? What can I do for you? I’d offer you something to drink but, uh, we’d have to go around to the back.”

Valerie Marks.
@missmarks
They stood in silence watching the girl as she mulled about the morgue, cleaning and doting on the lifeless forms that were scattered in cooling systems around the room. They stepped forward, heavy boots echoing in the mostly empty room “Hello Valerie” There was a voice modifier on them, making recognizing it impossible “Nice gig you got here”

when the bell rang to signal the start of a new round, jo turned her attention to the task at hand. she aimed for the target with ease and watched as the little firefighter climbed their ladder until it reached the top, a light signaling that she'd won, though her opponents during the round had mostly been kids. she shrugged, turning in her seat to size up the competition. "depends," she said with a tilt of her head. "what did you have in mind?"
One thing to know about Valerie was she had a wildly competitive nature. Often times she wondered if it all steamed from a pure, unadulterated passion for winning and challenging herself or if her upbringing is really at fault for the trait. For the most part, it's something she has learned to relish, it's made her try her hardest and has help her succeed in many ventures throughout her lifetime. Other times, she found herself making rather vapid decisions, like sitting down in front of a water fun for five minutes straight, winning against children and adults alike with no remorse. Her attention was diverted from the target as a voice called on her side, the mock salute causing her to raise a brow. "I'd like to see you try. Wanna make it more interesting?" she responded with a flat tone as the crease of her lips tilted up. Was this, perhaps, the first adversary Valerie could take seriously?
