connorharrington:
After a tedious day of work, Connor began the short walk back to his small apartment. He was eager to throw back a beer, unwind, and catch some sleep before the next work day. The walk was not far, only a few blocks from the center of the town. On a usual day he drove, but his car was in the shop at a neighboring town, where the blood stains from his previous incident with Veronica were being cleaned out. Explaining what had happened to the employees at the car shop had not been his most convincing work, but they seemed to buy his story. Realizing that he had forgotten his laptop at his office, he turned around began walking in the opposite direction. As he walked closer to the building that occupied his office suite, he noticed people along the streets watching something with horror filled in their eyes. His pace sped up once he realized that it was his office that everyone was watching. He stood a few feet away from the door, unsure of what to do. He felt paralyzed, unable to reach for his cell phone or ask someone for help. Clearly not thinking straight, he lifted his shirt over his nose and opened the door to his office, trying to gather as many unburnt documents as possible.
As the intended target rushed into the burning office to start saving what documents he could and stamp out the growing flames, the killer continued to lurk behind the drapes. Peering out of them in silence as smoke accumulated in the room.
They couldn’t wait forever, unfortunately.
Without warning, the dark figure flung itself out from their hiding spot, crashing into Connor with great force. It caused both to topple to the ground and within seconds, the masked individual was scrambling to get at the lawyer. There was a flash of light reflected from the flames’ light -- the only indication that a knife had been withdrawn, and they were currently doing their damnedest to sink it into Connor Harrington’s flesh throughout the struggles.
And meanwhile, the fire grew.

missmarks:
The crunch of heavy boots draws her attention, wide blue eyes shooting up as she sees-she’s not sure who she sees in the morgue with her. “It’s not wise to sneak up one someone with a scalpel, you could get hurt.” She replies her voice emotionless as she grips the knife in her hand. “This place isn’t open to the public or for pranks.”
They pull their own knife out of the shapeless robe they’re wearing, letting it glint dramatically in the low light of the morgue. They always had a flair for dramatics “Mine’s bigger” heavily booted feet begin to step forward, their movement like wrath as they began to close the distance between themselves and the girl. When they stopped they were just out of her arms reach, making sure not to get close enough that she could actually do enough damage to gather information from them “Haven’t you wanted to meet me, Valerie? I thought you would be more excited than this”
Valerie Marks.

"What's little piggy been up to..."
Gloved hands quietly rifled through the papers on the desk, occasionally pausing to stuff important ones inside their jacket for safekeeping. Then they squatted, going through the drawers for good measure. There wasn't a sense of urgency or care to this, just this black-clothed person tossing papers right and left and searching for any special knooks and crannys.
After everything had been shifted through, the dark figure stood tall and rummaged within their coat again. This time, a small vial was pulled out, uncapped, and then dumped all over the top of the desk. The container was also thrown on top because they wouldn't need it anymore. Then, a match was stuck and the brief flame lit up the ghost mask before it, too, was thrown on top. Flames immediately sprung forth on the lawyer's desk, lighting up the office quickly.
Then, a gloved hand casually pushed over the nearest breakable vase, causing the thing to shatter loudly.
After this, they stepped back into the shadows behind the curtains to wait for him... The lawyer... To come and save what was left of his precious hard work and secrets.

Valerie Marks.
@missmarks
They stood in silence watching the girl as she mulled about the morgue, cleaning and doting on the lifeless forms that were scattered in cooling systems around the room. They stepped forward, heavy boots echoing in the mostly empty room “Hello Valerie” There was a voice modifier on them, making recognizing it impossible “Nice gig you got here”
