youâre gonna walk away from this ? (fizz to blitz) / @infernalight
â - The fuck ?! â Something hot and ugly is pulsing just under Blitz's collarbone - like a spike of anger that cuts up through the muscle and bites into the bone. It heats his face, sets his jaw - his fangs grind for a moment as Blitz curls his claws into his palms. The pain is good - clarifying and ground, as much as ice water, and it keeps him in the moment.
Or, mostly.
You're gonna walk away from this ?
For a moment, Blitz can only see his father's face with only half of his vision - furious and distant, fed up with him. Relaying the words on Fizz's behalf, on Barbie's - no one wants you here. Guilt is a constant in his life - it was then, it is now, and in both the memory and the present it twists with the anger and the grief and the bitterness that protects his heart regardless of the fact that it's not worth protecting.
He doesn't deserve it - his own lashing out, his own fury - but it comes spitting up anyway.
â That's real fuckin' rich coming from you. Just go the hell back to your penthouse and your fans, Fizzarolli. You earned it, right ? â

You can see the moment Leoâs heart breaksâŠ
BEGINNINGÂ ||Â PREVIOUSÂ || NEXT MASTER POST
AFTERMATH (extra reading material)
Hope you enjoyed this little Replica Intermission flashback as we head into the Holiday Special that happens a few years after this. To be honest, this was as much of a peek into the earlier years of the Central Park Colony as it was a character study. I really wanted to get a handle on how these boys were in their early-mid twenties before diving into the special because they become very different people by their thirties.
TED Talk below on the details of this scene...
I really grappled with the concept of how long it would take for the boys to figure out that the statue was the key. Most interpretations seem to assume they figure it out right away, but honestly, without CJ there to warn them in advance and tell them what it looks like they don't have a lot to go off of aside from Splinter's vague mention of a key. The fact that the Krang were praised by the Foot is enough to set off Donnie's alarms but... with the Foot already gone by the time the Krang make their grand appearance on Metro Tower, the connection can only be hypothesized.
Honestly, I think Donnie would still go to Raph first, a breach in conduct but given the sensitivity of the subject and fear of accusing Leo it seems on brand. Raph ultimately would make the choice not to tell Leo until they knew for certain... which they never did. So it was put off longer and longer until it finally came back to bite them all at the worst possible time. If the colony finds out what Leo did... it could be disastrous. At the same time, Leo's trust in his brothers has been shaken, though it still pales in comparison to the fresh, crushing blow in knowing that it was all his fault. ...Don't worry, he'll be feeling a bit better by the time of the Holiday Special.

đđŒđđŒ is it ok to request a fic where jack starts trying to take care of the reader the way he sees his dad does? like maybe hotch is away from a case and reader gets sick or sad or idk, so jack takes it upon himself to be there for reader? like maybe he even starts referring reader with the same pet name hotch calls her? tysm!
like dad does
aw đ„č cw; fem!reader, established relationship, mentions of sickness, fluff <3
you awoke with a gentle start; a trail of cold water trickling down the side of your face, pooling vaguely in your ear.
likewise, a more concrete sensation was set on your forehead - a cold compress. most likely a washcloth, and one that hadn't been wrung out too much at that.
but it was relieving, a delightful contrast from your burning forehead.
"oops," a small mumble came directly from your left ear, as well as a soft exhale of a breath. "sorry."
"jack?" you muttered, rather drowsily. you forced your eyes open, finding jack's sweet, concerned face beside you. "what're you doing?"
"i'm taking care of you." he explained softly, his tone so nonchalant as if it were the most obvious and simplest thing in the world. he reached forward, adjusting the top of the blanket that was draped overtop you. "like dad does. he put the washcloth on you yesterday, you 'member?"
he was right; you were on day two, maybe three? of a nasty bout of the flu. quite honestly you didn't know what day it was, they all blurred together, and your scattered sleep schedule didn't help. you offered him a nod.
"thank you." you gave him a small, closed mouth smile. if it weren't for the germs, you'd reach out to touch his cheek. you sat up a bit from your position in bed, your voice hoarse. "where is your dad?"
"a meeting."
your eyebrows furrowed, the facial movement burning your sinuses. "he's home?"
jack nodded, "he's in his office, but he said it might take a long time. so that's why i'm helping you feel better."
his face brightened a bit, as if a realization struck him. he reached into his pant's pocket, retrieving a few cough drops he had shoved in there, dropping them onto your blanket covered chest.
"i'm sorry i can't make you soup." jack apologized, solemnly as his shoulders dropped. "but i'm not allowed to use the stove."
your face softened, the weak smile resurfacing. "that's okay bud, don't worry. you can help dad make some later when he's done, how 'bout that?"
he nodded enthusiastically, before hoisting himself onto your bed.
"hey no no no, i wouldn't," you protested gently, your heart also melting at his action. "i don't want you getting my germs."
"if i get sick i get sick." that's the same thing aaron had said, multiple times, when he insisted on getting into bed with you earlier. jack scooted somewhat close, staying mainly on his father's side of the bed.
"and if i get sick, i don't need to go to school."
you laughed softly, but finding yourself too weak to argue, you did the only thing you could - go right back to sleep.
it was restless; you were in and out of slumber, and could roughly process jack getting up here and there - solely due to the distant sensation of the washcloth leaving and returning to your forehead, dampened once more.
and once aaron's meeting had ceased, he went in to check on you, and was pleasantly surprised, and touched, to see jack accompanying you.
you were out, with jack diligently watching over, while also keeping himself busy - his sketchbook and colored pencils were scattered amongst the bed.
"how's it going?" aaron asked him from the doorway, the door producing a sharp creak as he pushed it forward a tad.
"good. i brought cough drops, the washcloth, and made sure she got lots of rest. just like you did." jack continued to draw as he spoke, before his head shot right up. "can we make soup?"
"sure buddy," aaron nodded, a tinge of pride pulling at his heart. he tilted his head towards the hallway, and jack immediately scrambled off the bed. "c'mon."

rumors â ft. kamisato ayato
@ficsforgaza kinktober day 3 â kamisato ayato + creampie
synopsis: you hear people whisper about the one thing you and ayato lack. an heir. your husband is more than happy to silence those whispers with his own methods
includes: 1.6k word count (i tried to keep it short iâm sorry it exceeded the limit) ; female wife reader ; 18+ mature content (no minors!) ; talks of pregnancy and children ; implied arranged marriage ; fingering, unprotected vaginal sex ; creampie ; slight breeding kink thrown in too oops
notes: @resibonin manuuuu my love tysm for indulging me with a request like this i was so excited when i was told what jr was <3 i hope i did your request justice and tysm for donating to this cause!! <3
âThereâs something troubling you,â Ayato hums.
You send a fleeting glance at his figure. Heâs sat at the desk heâs placed in the corner of your shared chamber as he looks up from his papers to meet your eyes. Itâs to be closer to you, heâd said the night he set it up, beaming proudly at himself. Ayato does not like to do work in his office when you are sitting alone in bed. He finds it troublesome to concentrate when his mind drifts to you.
Ironically, he hardly ever does any work when heâs near you, too.
âWhat do you mean?â You set your book down, raising an eyebrow.
He quirks his lips up into a knowing smile, one that makes you feel shy already as he purrs, âI can see it on your face. There is something on your mind.â
Heâs right. There is something on your mind. Regrettably, word spreads in Inazuma quickly.
Youâve heardâŠrumors. They mainly target you. Often about your ability to carry an heir, perhaps, or even your willingness to. Youâve heard them through hushed whispers in the estate and through loud conversations while passing in town.
Itâs not true, of course. Youâre not unwilling nor unable. In fact, you think an heir would be niceâitâs just that you have yet to discuss such matters with Ayato.
(You donât know how to. Itâs easier with Ayaka than it is with your own husband to discuss the future of your marriage potentially taking place. You donât know if itâs time to take the step yetâyour wedding was a small, quiet affair and arranged quickly enough that you didnât fall for Ayato until some time into your marriage. It only made sense at the time to have the maids fetch you tea from the sakura blossom after things turned moreâŠintimate in your development with Ayato.)
You love him, thoughâas does he love you. So much so, that he notices the signs of something wrong before youâre even aware youâre projecting them.
âIâve just been thinking of the public, is all,â you say vaguely. You should know by now Ayato would never settle for accepting that.
âWhat about them, my dear wife?â
âTh-they speak, my lord,â you whisper, not meeting his gaze. Equal parts because you have a sense of shame (that Ayato does not) and equal parts because he will surely be amused should you look into his eyes.
Youâre rightâyou can hear the amusement in his tone when he murmurs, âIs that so? And what, pray tell, do they speak about?â
âUs,â you huff indignantly. âTheyâŠhave much to discuss when it comes to our matters.â
âWe are deeply influential people in this nation, my dear,â he chuckles. You throw him a glare that he easily grins wider at, âSurely, a few comments about political cornerstones such as ourselves are to be expected?â
âBut theyâre shamelessly invasive, Ayato,â you all but squawk. If not for your motherâs strict lessons of primness, youâre certain youâd have lost your composure on your husband far earlier into this conversation.
His eyes narrow playfully, a sort of look on his face you donât like. He has an upper hand you canât quite put your finger onâbut heâs a step ahead. That much you know.
âTell me, my dear. What is it that they speak of that crosses these boundaries youâre so worried about? Tell me and I shall handle it so my precious wife can rest in peace. I wouldnât want it to keep you up at night.â
âVery funny, Ayato,â you spit. You donât meet his gaze as you opt for staring at your fingers, fiddling them in your lap as you mumble quietly, âTheyâŠthey speak of an heir, my lord. M-more specifically, the lack ofâŠthe lack of one being conceived byâŠâ
âBy who?â He plays dumb, eyes sparkling as you glare at him sharply.
âBy us, you utter fool,â you throw your hands up. Your mother would be truly disappointed in your slip of composure, but Ayato has a fierce way of settling under your skin.
An itch youâll never reach no matter how deep your nails sink into your skin.
âAh,â he nods slowly, âSo theyâve taken to commenting on the lack of our children, is that it?â
âYes,â you hiss. âAnd I do not appreciate it.â
âThen I shall have to dirty my hands and fix this issue, no?â
Your eyes twinkle at that, finally happy with the words of your husband as you nod earnestly. âYes, my darling husband. It would be very much appreciated should you put an end to these abysmally shameless comments.â
âAlright then,â he grins wickedly.
A part of you feels a bit bad for the poor victim of Ayatoâs problem solving process. Heâs a bit swift with the punishment he dealsâand effective too, when it comes from the shadows. People fear what they cannot control. Your husband is one of those things.
Except he does not seem to take matters into his hands the way you expect him to. Heâs standing, walking up to you where you sit on the bed, eyes hungry and predatory in a way youâre all too familiar with, and all too unprepared for.
âWhatâwhat are youâŠâ you stutter as he hovers over you, his lips slowly kiss up your neck, settling against your pulse point to suck gently.
âI am dirtying my hands to solve the problem,â he murmurs, voice deep and sultry enough that you shiver from the sound alone. âIf, perhapsâŠthere is an heir inside of youâŠwell, you see what I mean, donât you? The comments will surely have to cease.â
âW-what? B-butââ
âAyaka tells me you often think of the joys of motherhood. You seem particularly fond of a child with my eyes, it seems? Perhaps you should indulge your husband of such desires instead of your sister-in-law. After all, I am much more fit to offer a remedy to your longing.â
âOh,â you gasp, just as his fingers wander up the edge of your gown and slip past your panties, sinking into your cunt. âP-pleaseâŠâ
âPlease what? Give you an heir? One with my eyes and your smile, perhaps?â He teases.
You nod. Desperately so. Ayato can tease you all he wants, you decideâhe might feel like heâs won some one sided battle by pushing at your buttons, but in the end the building pressure between your legs feels like a much larger win.
And it is. You cum on his fingers easilyâpartly because heâs good with them. Good with you. He knows what you like and where you like it, just like a dutiful husband.
So, like a dutiful wife, you spread your legs and accommodate him. His cock is hard, leaking with a generously large amount of pre cum that you know is not a coincidence. He shivers as the tip pushes past your folds, a low, breathy groan that he lets out right against the shell of your ear as he bottoms out.
âFuck,â he curses, âYou are divine, do you know? You feel it too.â
âLess talking,â you whine, âMove, Ayato.â
âAs you wish,â he laughs. Itâs a sweet soundâdespite his ability to irk you often, you are quite fond of your husband. In love with him, evenâenough so, that simple joy on his face makes a flutter in your belly that youâre sure he feels through a particularly tight squeeze around his cock.
He groans, letting out soft, labored pants against your ear as his hips thrust sharply into you, the thick head of his cock nudging past your folds and burying deep into the spongy spot in the back that he has memorized.
âMore, more, moreââ you chant, ââM s-so closeââ
âAlready?â He gasps, a smug, lopsided smirk on his lips. You glare up at him before wrapping your legs around his waist, pulling him into your cunt deeper. Closer. Harder.
âO-oh, Gods,â he moans, stuttering his hips for a moment before they fuck into you harsher, a sloppy and quicker pace that lacks his earlier rhythm. His tip angles to hit sensitive parts of you that only Ayato discovers.
Heâs close, you can tell by the sloppy tempo of his thrusts. Youâre closer, and you know he can tell because he quickens that tempo if only a little.
Itâs enough to make pleasure erupt a second time, rolling through hot waves along your body as your walls flutter around him. They squeeze him tightâenough that he whines before releasing his own cum into you.
âI shall fill you to the brim,â his voice is low. Thereâs a promise in his tone as he continues, âAs many times as I have to. Until you are walking around this estate swollen with my child for all to know that Iâve done this. Me.â
âYou,â you agree through a whimper, clenching around him at the words. âF-fill me up, Ayato.â
Thick and hot, his seed fucks deep into your walls, sharp thrusts of his twitching cock burying it further and further until youâre sure being full of his seed even just this once will leave you swollen with his child. He seems to think it, too, because his eyes are transfixed between your bodies, dazed as he watches the mess of his cum leaking from your cunt and dripping down your thigh in a thick, slow rivulet.
âHad your fill?â You ask tiredly when he finally finishes, slowing to a stop. You roll your eyes as he throws you a wolfish grin.
âPerhaps for now,â he drawls, âI shall stay inside of you like this for a bit to ensure it takes.â He presses his hips closer to yours, softening cock burying deeper into your cunt for emphasis as he sinks his weight over you. You roll your eyes and bury your hand into his sweaty hair.
âSo what takes?â
âMy seed, of course,â he says as though itâs obvious.
âAyato!â You squeal, slapping at his shoulder as he laughs.
âBe sure to let the maids know that you will not be needing the sakura blossom tea. Or perhapsâŠperhaps Iâll tell them myselfâtheyâre good at gossiping. You might not have to worry about the comments of the public for long.â
âYou are exceedingly troublesome, my darling husband.â
âDo you love me for it?â
âUnfortunately, I do,â you grin. He kisses you, and you canât help but melt and reciprocateâin the future, it might be difficult to enjoy such moments of intimacy should a child be born.
You figure you should enjoy your husband while heâs yours alone for as long as you can.
I think this is slightly more plot build up than it is smut. The smut was rushed for the sake of the word count limit so this definitely isnât my best piece but I hope it was still a decent read </3

HOW DEEP IS YOUR DEVOTION? ; SATORU GOJO
synopsis; youâre his knight, and heâs your prince. if only it were that simple.
word count; 6.6k
contents; satoru gojo/reader, gn!reader, royalty au (..but no effort put into making it historically accurate in any way oops), knight!reader x prince!toru!!, childhood friends, mutual pining, fluffy overall, some hurt/comfort too, vague allusions to abuse (reader is punished by one of the castle maids as a child but itâs only really hinted at), knight!reader is horrendously devoted but prince!gojo is arguably worse, he would burn the world down if u asked nicely <3
a/n; big big BIG thank you to @/teddybeartoji for having the biggest brain in the galaxy and infecting me with this concept <33 if u pay attention while reading you can tell the exact moment i started slowly spiraling into insanity
you are five years old when you meet the prince.
five years old, a mere child, and too young to be blinded by such brilliance. too young to be where you are; curled up in a dark alley, back against a grimy brick wall, covered in bruises. like a beaten dog â scrawny and afraid. waiting for a strike that never comes.
the boy in front of you is also five years old, but you donât know that. something in him looks older, somehow, something in the way he carries himself. like he doesnât have anything to be afraid of. like heâs never even felt fear. he parts his lips and speaks like he has the right to, like heâs comfortable in his own skin, a radiance so blinding you could mistake him for the sun. too much for you to bear.
âdoes it hurt?â
the words fall on deaf ears. but you flinch, your body reacts, a tremble down your tiny spine. you hear the sound but not the words. too mesmerized, too paralyzed, unable to look away from the blue of his eyes, painted with rich watercolour hues. seeping into the world around you like ink on paper, cobalt and aquamarine and something else, something youâve never seen before â
a blue so jarring it makes you shiver.
the boy has an innocent face. almost girlish, plump cheeks and long lashes, clean clothes and smooth skin. a little too pretty to be out here, you think, in this part of town â too pure to be anywhere near someone like you. heâs above you, that much you can tell. a pretty, innocent face, untouched by dirt or ache; the face of royalty. an entirely different species.
thereâs something keen in his eyes, a contrast to his childlike features. a sharp gaze, something that sees through you, something that wonât look away. something mildly frightening. enough to have you cowering in fear, hugging your knees closer to your chest.
but then he smiles. and itâs sincere. sweet, vibrant, all honey and milk and a world you cannot reach.
a smile so captivating you take his outstretched hand, and let him drag you away to god-knows-where.
(that's how it begins. the dynamic thatâll follow you into your adult lives; satoru takes the lead, and you follow. no matter where heâs going.)
satoru gojo, as you soon come to learn, is the prince of the nation you reside in. the only child of the royal family, born with talent and prestige, fame and fortune, set to become king. a different species, indeed.
but he brings you home with him, to a castle so grand you feel as if your very presence is an insult to the architects who designed it, and convinces his parents to let you stay. itâs surprising, but you donât protest; following him like a puppy at his trail. and heâs stubborn, insistent, demanding that he get to keep said puppy.Â
the king and queen donât care one way or another. they glance at you with apathy, and tell satoru to do what he wants â but convincing the scary and displeased castle maids takes some work.Â
satoru doesnât waver, though. he holds your hand in his, and demands that you be treated with respect.
and he wins. he always wins.
thatâs how you become the princeâs playmate. raised alongside him, allowed to stay close, eat from the same food. he wonât settle for anything less. defending your honour, always, before you even know what honour means. before you care.
time passes slowly. joyously. every day is a new adventure, as you attempt to get used to the miracle that is your new life â sweet and silky, apricot blossoms and fresh peaches, duvet pillows and a bubbly laughter you didnât know you still had. he coaxes it out of you, with every secret midnight outing, every bout of mischief he drags you both into.Â
satoru has nice hands, uncalloused palms, fingers that grasp yours and donât let go. he takes you outside, to see the stars, to catch fireflies in the dark of night on top of the hill that oversees the castle. to take a dip in the river just below it, gleaming a silver hue under the blue shade of the moon. you worry about getting in trouble, but he reassures you â the prince can do what he wants.
that might be true, but you are no prince. not even close. satoru may safeguard you, but all youâll ever be in the eyes of the world is a stray he got to keep.
and one time, only one time, you do face the repercussions of your midnight outings. you, and you alone. a bad influence â seething words, buzzing in your ears. an angry castle maid, and a stinging pain in your cheek. blurry tears.Â
but thatâs an incident no one in the castle dares to speak of.
(youâll never forget that look in his eyes.)
satoru is an odd boy. he keeps you close, always, clinging to you like he needs you to breathe. you donât understand why, but youâve learned not to question him. the castle guards all know you as the princeâs best friend, and some part of you knows thatâs all youâll ever amount to. but you donât mind.
because you love him. at five years old, six years old, seven and beyond, you love him. satoru gojo, the kindest boy in the stratosphere.Â
a boy who keeps finding you, no matter where you are, who tugs you along as naturally as the rise of the sun. who raids kitchen cabinets with you and always makes you laugh, little giggles and chuckles that have him beaming proudly. a boy who cleans your wounds with a serious expression, and tells you that heâll protect you forever.Â
(you tell yourself the same. that youâll protect him forever and ever, until you run out of air to breathe. a boy so sweet youâd die for him.)
a pledge is made. you make it before you know what a pledge is. pledging to protect him, to become his sword, because even as a child you understand that his life will be difficult. you see it in the dullness that sometimes comes over his eyes, the apathy of his so-called parents, the hours he spends locked up with nothing but a pile of dusty books to keep him company.Â
so you decide to become his knight. his, and his alone.Â
itâs challenging. but you push through; training with another aspiring knight, miles better than you, black hair tousled by the breeze as he knocks you off your feet for the thirtieth consecutive time. wincing as the girl who sometimes watches your sparring patches you up, soft hands cleaning your wounds so tenderly that you almost choke up.
and eventually, as the apricot blossoms of the castle orchard wilt and bloom over and over in a flurry of pure white, your dream comes true.Â
thereâs something playful in satoruâs eyes, when he places his blade on the curve of your shoulder. something sweet and fond, and just a little bit ironic â as if youâre still seven years old, and playing house.Â
you want to tell him that it isnât a joke. that youâre serious, about this, that youâd tear your stomach open to keep him safe. but you know heâd just laugh. so you let the words clog up your throat, honey-sweet devotion sticking to the walls of your esophagus. breathing in through your nose, as he speaks. as the words youâve waited to hear flow from his glossy lips.
when all is said and done, satoru smiles. he calls you his little knight, and you can tell that heâs teasing you. indulging you, as if heâs in on some joke that you arenât. but youâll take what you can get.
you call him my prince, expecting him to laugh it off, but his smile begins to fall. and a pang of ache rushes through your soul, instantaneous, guilty, although you donât understand why.
so you keep calling him satoru. even though itâs more than a little unprofessional, and you become painfully accustomed to receiving a few judgemental looks here and there. a knight and a prince shouldnât be so very close, they think, and you donât disagree. but thereâs nothing they can do about it, anyhow.
the prince and his knight can do what they want.
not much changes. youâre his knight, but he treats you the same as before. heâs playful, a little goofy, and you indulge him. as always. attached at the hip, bickering and bantering, bouncing off each other effortlessly. and satoru never bothers to hide your history, the soft spot he has for you; itâs in every fleeting glance, soft tilt of his head, teasing call of ah, thereâs my favorite knight.Â
(youâre no stranger to jealous looks. sometimes a pout on the lips of a pretty girl, a crease between the brows of one of your fellow knights. and sometimes a glare, from his fiancĂ©e â a woman he was engaged to before he was old enough to speak.
but you donât mind. youâve never cared what anyone but satoru thinks of you.)
satoru never loses his smile, that effortless air of confidence. the charm that makes people want to follow him, a charisma you know well. one you fell victim to at five years of age. heâs still just a prince, far from being a king, but he receives the same respect.
and that keen, sharp glimmer in his eyes never quite goes away; the hardened shell around his heart unbroken. you see it in fleeting glances, during meetings, ones he allows you to attend despite your status. when he speaks to a room of people with more power than you can imagine, his voice unwavering. back straight. elegant, serious, the presence of royalty â enough to receive respect without even trying.Â
but he still shoots you a smile, easygoing, when your eyes meet. one only you can see.
as for you, the step into knighthood is a clumsy one. but you take your duties seriously, and adjust properly. a deep devotion runs through your veins, from your beating heart down to the tips of your fingers, where a sword lies clutched. you keep it close, always, ready to serve. to obey. to protect.Â
all of it for one person.
all you do is for him. duels in his honour, beasts slain for his peace of mind, and heâs always there to welcome you back. wiping the blood from your cheek, tenderly, smearing his untainted skin with red; all while he looks at you softly, a coo or word of praise waltzing on the tip of his tongue.Â
thatâs only for when you remain unscathed, though, when the blood on your cheek isnât your own. when you get hurt, itâs different â something begins to brew inside his eyes, and you canât tell what it is. but he insists on bandaging you himself, paying no mind to your meek protests.
sometimes, youâre more reckless than usual. your injuries worse. sometimes he looks upset, angry with you, and doesnât speak. you donât, either.
a strange look comes over his eyes, every now and then. when you get down on one knee, to kiss his hand, the metal of the ring on his finger â and if you look up, youâll see it. simmering inside those blue depths, something just as fond as it is sad. troubled, you think.
(something tells you heâd kneel, too, if only youâd let him.)
the bond between you remains intact. even as you begin to shoulder more responsibilities, more duties, even though you donât have as much freedom as you used to. even though you seem to get less time to spend with each other every single day. but you stay together, even so; just like when you were children, running around and causing trouble, more than you could get away with now.Â
despite everything, satoru has grown up into a fine man. and you couldn't be prouder.
âdo you think i look good in black? be honest.â
you throw him a glance. curious, somewhat perplexed, eyeing him up and down.
satoru is wearing a white blouse, puffy sleeves and a low neckline, showing off the skin of his bare chest. no black colours to be seen. you think back to that banquet he attended last month, forced into an expensively tailored black coat. a corset around his waist. and then you hum.
âsure you do.â
âsuguru said it makes me look like a try-hard,â he scoffs, crossing his arms. tilting his head in your direction. âdo you think heâs jealous?â
âdefinitely.â
a moment passes.Â
satoru narrow his eyes, and gives you a dubious look. clicking his tongue. â⊠something tells me you arenât taking this seriously.â
âi am,â you assure him, a lazy smile at your lips. meeting his gaze, that displeased little pout. still smoothing a brush down the mane of your horse, the smell of hay soothing your muddled senses. âjust tired. you look good in anything. you know that.â
he hums. silent, the sound of a spring breeze filling in the gaps.
itâs late. outside the stables, the world is engulfed by a dark sky, almost too murky to see anything. hazy stars glimmer in the distance, and a sense of fatigue gnaws at your bones. itâs been a long day, and yet youâre here â doing even more work. just a little more.
and satoruâs right there with you. even though heâs just sitting there, on the floor, not lifting a finger to help. not that he has to. insistent on spending some quality time with you, keeping you company. just talking and munching on the food he snuck in, bread and cheese and an expensive bottle of wine, that he leaves completely untouched. he tries to leave some of everything else for you, though. keyword being tries.
a sense of peace simmers in the air. palpable, almost enough to taste, as midnight air streams in from the opened doors, chilly and pleasant on your skin. ruffling the thin fabric of your clothing.
and itâs nice, you think, just to have satoru there â talking about this and that, complaining about all the annoying people he had to meet yesterday, yawning every now and then. nostalgic. like this, it almost feels like you're still kids. back when you spent every single hour of the day by each otherâs side.
itâs been a long time since you got the chance to speak like this. satoruâs been busy, and so have you. more so than usual.
âare they running you ragged?â he suddenly asks, and you donât realize youâve spent the last minute staring into space. resuming your brushing, with steady hands, but turning your head to meet his gaze.
âneed me toâŠâ he makes a slicing motion with his hand, right over his throat. a glint of mischief in his eyes. âhandle it?â
and you scoff. amused, but answering him seriously; unsure if his question is all-together humorous, if it doesnât carry a hint of something genuine too. âof course not.â
thereâs a weariness in the way you blink. the way you pet the animal in front of you, having finished getting the dirt and blood clots out of her mane. she lays down in her stall, and you smile. turning around to rest your back against the wooden border between you, a respite for your aching bones.
it gets just a little bit tiring, sometimes. fighting, patrolling, helping townsfolk. protecting the castle, making sure everything is in order. killing whatever needs to be killed. cleaning the stained silver of your sword.
butâŠ
âitâs my duty,â you answer, seriously, and it comes out sounding like a vow. because it is.Â
you avoid his gaze, but you can feel it, as you pick up the wine bottle by your feet and pop the cork. soft moonlight flits in from the windows, illuminating the green glass. a chartreuse glow that reminds you of fireflies, shimmering in your grasp, and for some reason it soothes your heart.
satoru only hums, far from approving. popping a piece of cheese into his mouth.Â
after a brief pause, he continues. âyou donât have to be so serious all the time, you know.â his voice comes out a little raspy. itâs got a certain tilt to it, one that means he wants you to take him seriously. ânot around me.â
you take a sip of the wine. expensive, blood red. itâs too sweet for your taste, heavy on your tongue.
â⊠iâm less serious with you than i am with others.â
satoru sits up a little straighter.
âyeah?â he grins, a kind of satisfaction blooming in his eyes. cerulean and sweet. almost smug, you think, like the cat that got the cream. âthatâs good. you really should loosen up, though.â
a glance. fleeting, just to see him â but he isnât looking at you. heâs looking outside, through the opened window, at the sway of the apricot trees. white petals flitting in, landing by his feet. in his hair.
when his eyes meet yours, theyâre smoothed over by that something you can never put your finger on. a blend between longing and fondness. crinkled at the edges.
âyouâve got a pretty smile,â he exhales. âbe a shame not to show it off.â
when you look at him, really look at him, you see it. that fatigue. it slips out when he talks to you, a sincere way of speaking that never quite allows him to hide his emotions. you hear the hint of a yawn, can practically feel the weight on his shoulders. the weight of an entire nation. a weight he was always bound to carry.
(you could never bring yourself to be even remotely alright with it.)
âhave you been doing okay?â you ask, and satoru blinks. thereâs a soft look in your eyes, as they trail over the contours of his face, his lashes catching the light of the stars. an innocent, pretty face. but he looks tired. frail. like he hasnât been sleeping properly.
something rotten bubbles up inside your throat.
âtheyâre running you ragged, too,â you say, hand settling on your hip. where your sword usually is. unconsciously, on instinct â or maybe just to make him laugh. âneed me to step in?â
satoru chuckles. husky, mellow. dripping with soft amusement.
âsettle down, little knight.â
a moment passes. silent. his eyes flutter shut, for a second, and a breath slips from his lips. almost a sigh. in the distance, you hear the quiet coo of an owl.Â
âof course,â he eventually answers, opening his eyes. and you think he looks a little resigned. but smiling. self-deprecating, you think, although heâd like you to assume otherwise. âall of it is just preparation, anyhow.âÂ
a flimsy smile, as he looks into your knowing eyes. âitâs what i was born for, wasnât it?â
you purse your lips.
â⊠i donât think so.â
another chuckle. a little delighted, this time.Â
âyeah,â he cranes his neck, emitting a low groan. âme neither.â something sweet blossoms in his eyes, sweet like the crunch of the apple he bites into, juice dribbling down his chin. âbut it is what it is.â
a beat. you part your lips, trying to find the right words. âtell me if there's anything i can do,â you settle on. the same words you always choose. âanything at all.â
satoru smiles. âright.â his voice carries a teasing tilt; almost a purr. âthereâs nothing you wouldn't do for me, hm?âÂ
ââ there isnât.â you smile. ânothing at all.â
he blinks. a little dazed, for a second, and you watch as his ears redden. slight, enough for you to notice, but gone before you can bring it up. a contemplation smooths over his features. and a pleasant breeze flits in, ruffling his hair, apricot petals kissing up his skin. he looks at the apple in his hands.
then he sighs. placing his palms on his knees, and rising to his feet. his arms twitch, muscular beneath the flimsy blouse, and you gulp. although you arenât sure why.
âalright, then.â his eyes flicker in the dim light, sharp and decisive. he crosses over to you with long strides. âthere is something you can do.â
when heâs close enough, satoru reaches out his hand; opening his palm. a silent beckoning. you look at him, not saying a word. his expression is unreadable.Â
then you intertwine your fingers with his. unquestioningly, even in the midst of your confusion.
(it reminds you of that day. when he pulled you up to your feet, held your hand in his and refused to let go. leading you to the promise of something better.)
no matter where he goes, you follow.
and satoru grins. itâs sweet, just like back then, a smile so vibrant you wish you could tuck it into your sleeve and keep it there forever. he curls his fingers around yours, gentle, fondness bubbling up inside his eyes. for a second, you think you see the sun.
âcome with me.â
at first, you truly arenât sure where heâs going to take you. hand in hand, you begin to walk, feeling the midnight breeze nip at your skin. beyond the castle walls, away from the hustle and bustle of the nearby town. satoru holds your hand and smiles, tousled tufts of white hair swaying with the wind, leading you to a place you know well. a place where the air tastes like freedom.
itâs the river you used to play by as children.
gleaming a solemn silver under the evanescent moon, framed by bushes of lilacs, blooming indigo and violet and pure white. butterflies flutter about, almost glittering, blue wings settling down on the leaves. the scent of nectar hangs heavy in the air. on top of the hill just above you, you think you can spot tiny little glowing dots; green and yellow, buzzing around. dancing merrily, now that there arenât any troublemaker children left to trap them.
satoru lets go of your hand, to roll up his sleeves. the hems of his pants. then heâs taking a step forward, dangerously close to the edge of the river, and you can tell what heâs thinking.
âah â wait ââ you stumble forward, to grab hold of his arm. a worried crease forms between your brows. âthat's dangerous, satoru. you could slip and fall.â
he turns to face you, a teasing mirth in his eyes. smirking lightly. âoh? is that so?â he hums, a slight tilt of his head. then heâs stepping closer, so close you feel his warm breath on your skin, but you will yourself not to step back. âwanna know what i think?â
he leans forward, just a little further, warm air brushing against the shell of your ear. flushing beneath it. his voice comes out low, a sleepy lilt, dangerously raspy. hand ghosting over your waist.
âi think youâre too scared to get in.â
you blink.
â⊠really?â you deadpan, stepping back a tad. satoru looks pleased with himself.
âreally,â he purrs. âyou were always like that. could barely dip your toes in without shivering.â he reaches out to pinch your cheek, a coo on the tip of his tongue. âscaredy-cat.â
you raise an unimpressed brow. satoru steps back, inching closer to the river, until a quiet splash tells you that heâs standing in the water. lapping up his bare legs, not enough to even reach his knees â it felt a lot scarier when you were smaller. heâs still holding your hand, very loosely, fingertips ghosting your own.Â
âcâmon,â he coaxes. soft, encouraging, a playful glimmer in his eyes. teeth catching the light of the moon. âor is it too much for my brave knight to handle?â
satoru laughs, when that makes you furrow your brows, attempting to hide the flush of your cheeks. a warmth spreads through your chest at the term of endearment, and you bite your lip. melting a little.Â
his knight. his favourite knight.
â... fine,â you tangle your fingers in his own. sighing deeply, taking a tentative step forward. âjust be careful, okay? i don't want to deal with your whining if you hit your head.â
âah, but youâd kiss it better, no? if i asked?â he flashes you a honeyed grin, eyes rich with amusement. you hope the darkness of the night is enough to hide the red of your ears.
a grumble buzzes in your throat, locked behind your pursed lips. something in your jaw goes tight.
the man in front of you softens. parting his glossy lips. he says your name; slowly, thoughtfully, as if savouring every syllable. dragging them out, speaking with a lilt that tells you heâs being sincere.
ââ loosen up. itâs just you and me.â
so you do.
and itâs odd. how easy it is to get lost in him, the watercolour of his eyes, the brightness of his grin. how pliantly you let him whisk you away. before you know it, youâre playing in the water â because satoru splashed you, laughing at the shock on your face and the shiver of your spine, and you had no choice but to retaliate.Â
the sound of his laughter fills the air, sweet and bubbly. deep and giddy. strands of hair stick to his wet skin, droplets running down his neck, but his grin never falters. bright and toothy, boyish. he looks younger than you ever remember him being. like thereâs no weight on his shoulders, none at all, only soaked fabric weighing him down. a flimsy, see-through blouse.
you think itâs ridiculous. two grown adults, splashing each other like children. but his melodic giggles are contagious, and before you know it, youâre laughing too â and satoru looks at you like you hung all the stars in the sky. through dewy eyelashes, with cerulean eyes that melt into the pale blue of the moon and the silver of the river. filled with wonder.
a particularly ruthless splash knocks him off balance, and he has the instinct to reach for your arm; stumbling, slipping, dragging you down with him. you land on his chest, cheek against his neck, his pulse against your skin. erratic, joyous. fluttering happily. his chest is heaving, lifting you up and down, a little, rhythmic and comforting.Â
a sudden yelp slips past your lips, as you get snapped back into reality, into the realization that you basically just pushed your own prince into a river and used his unfairly soft chest as a cushion. a mumbled string of apologies escapes you, as you attempt to get up, scrambling to find footing.
but satoru wraps his arms around you. tucking you under his chin, keeping you flush against his chest. nice and still.Â
and then he sighs. a blissful little breath, fatigue seeping out of him. into the air.Â
âstay like this, for a bit,â he rasps. âitâs okay.â
his heartbeat resounds in your ear. warm and rapid, like claps of thunder, coaxing you into closing your eyes. satoru has always felt so very safe. the water of the river is cold, seeping through the fabric of your clothing and sticking to your skin, butâŠ
(heâs warm.)
silence. and then, a whisper; frail, slipping past his lips, gently slicing the silence in half. softer than you've ever heard him speak.
âi missed this.â
âŠ
nuzzling into his neck, you breathe him in. he smells like sandalwood and dried roses, buzzing with warmth, heavy arms around your waist. solid. when did he get so big? you used to be taller.Â
then again â that was a long time ago, wasnât it?
â⊠me too.â
âmissed you,â he continues, his jaw on top of your head. itâs a sincere confession; childlike in its innocence. âmissed hearing you laugh like that. feels like itâs been so long.âÂ
you stay silent. unsure of what to say. satoru continues, and you let his husky voice carry you away, the tremor of his chest running through your entire body. soothing like a lullaby.Â
âwe haven't had much time together, lately. iâve been worried,â he admits, and something about it strikes you as rather sheepish. a little ashamed. âit bothers me that i can't be there to watch over you. make sure you're treated with respect, you know.â
a sleepy chuckle. muffled into his shoulder, almost a scoff â slightly exasperated. little droplets cling to his skin, sticking to your lips.
ârelax, your majesty,â you tease. âi promise the other knights arenât bullying me.âÂ
satoru pouts. you can hear it, when he speaks. âiâm serious,â he huffs, squeezing you lightly. âand itâs not them iâm worried about. suguruâs there.â
another scoff threatens to escape your throat. you want to tell him the only knight that should be suspected of bullying you is suguru himself, but before you can even think to part your lips satoruâs beaten you to it.
âthey all treat you so carelessly.â thereâs something cold to his voice, an irritation tugging at his teeth. oddly seething. âlike you exist to serve them. like youâre disposable.âÂ
a moment passes, heavy with a silence so thick you donât dare break it. when he speaks again, itâs an order. a demand.Â
âi want you to tell me if they go too far.â
silence. again. you can do nothing but gnaw at the flesh of your bottom lip.Â
(he isnât wrong. but thatâs simply what it means to be a knight â half-human, half-weapon. an unattainable ideal, stuffed inside a suit of armor.
when a weapon breaks under the force of a slash, the only choice is to throw it away. that much you know.)
âitâs fine. iâm not that fragile,â you weakly protest, but itâs not enough. satoru huffs.
âyouâre a human being,â he reminds you. strangely stern, for once. chastising. âyou deserve to be treated with respect. knight or not. fragile or not.â
a deep inhale. he breathes in, and the rise of his chest carries you with it. his voice buzzes with something, a slumbering kind of fury. one you havenât heard in years.Â
âif anyone gives you trouble â if anyone hurts you⊠if anyone makes you feel unsafe,â he almost spits the words, like theyâre venomous, sacrilegious. âtell me. iâll destroy them.â
silence. and then, a chuckle.
thatâs all you can manage; that one meek little breath. resisting the urge to cower, at the love that clings to every word he speaks. angered affection. a promise, dangerously genuine, like a growing wildfire. âi can take care of myself, satoru,â you remind him. hoping itâll soothe him. âyou know that.â
but his grip around you only tightens. gentle, even still. as if youâre made of glass, a firefly cupped in his palms. he lets the silence linger, for a moment.
and then;Â
âiâd do it, you know.â
â⊠do what?â you ask, though some part of you already knows.Â
satoruâs reply is instantaneous. an arrow hitting its target, cold and concise, decisive. frighteningly honest. almost a growl, flattened, a hint of teeth behind his soft lips. âdestroy them. anyone.â
âiâd tear this nation apart if you asked me to.â
âŠ
(ah. that look in his eyes â one you remember well. strung together with blurred memories, the sting of a palm on your cheek, a castle maid you never saw again.)
you search for the words. biting back a gulp, hesitant. â⊠i wouldnât.â
âi know.â satoru yawns, breathing you in, voice shifting back into the softness youâre so used to. your shoulders relax. âbut i would. if thatâs what you wanted.â
and itâs a little scary, the depths of his devotion. but youâre almost certain youâd do the same for him. maybe you're both a little sick in the head, a little too eager to serve your hearts on a silver platter.
âit bothers me, you know.â satoru breaks you out of your thoughts. gentle, a soft lull of his tongue. âwhen you get hurt. when you fight for me.â
âi know,â you murmur. youâve seen it in his eyes, a worry heâs not as good at hiding as he thinks. âi want to, though.â
âand i want you to be safe.â a chuckle bubbles up in his throat, just a little bit rueful. âyou never listen, do you? so stubborn, i swear. always worrying me.â
you bite down on your lip. he sounds⊠a little sad.
â⊠sorry.â
a momentâs pause. then he shakes his head; cradling you close. âitâs fine. iâm here. always,â his palm runs down the small of your back. âin case anything happens.â
he inhales. âand when i become king ââ a beat. he swallows thickly. âyouâll never have to worry again. no one will be able to touch you.â
âsatoru,â you crack a small smile. amused. raising a single eyebrow. âiâm not worried. i can protect myself.â
âi know. but iâm saying you donât have to.â
and then heâs pulling back. just a little bit, just enough to see you. cheek smushed against his chest, comfortable and soft, more unguarded than heâs seen you these past few months. itâs enough to get his heart racing. enough to have him reaching out, fingertips ghosting over your hand, tangling your fingers together. bringing it to his glossy lips. a chaste kiss, brimming with unspoken murmurs of love.
ââ iâll protect you forever,â he vows. âremember?â
thereâs devotion in his eyes. heavy, a vow heâll never quite be able to voice in full. something that makes the blue of his eyes glow even brighter, cerulean, aquamarine, a blue so jarring it makes your heart beat faster than it should.
you blink. starstruck, caught in a daze, lost within that sea of blue. distracted by his warm breath on your cold skin, the soft whisper voiced against your knuckle. something shy blossoms in your chest, enough to have you averting your gaze.Â
â... you really donât care about the dynamic here, do you?â is all you can reply. a meek scoff, a weak attempt at hiding how flustered you are. âiâm the knight. iâm your protector.â
âoh, i know.â a smile sticks to his lips, playful, the back of his hand caressing your cheek. a coo on his tongue. âmy little hero. what would i ever do without you?â
a roll of your eyes. satoru chuckles. in the distance, you hear crickets chirping, a breeze rustling the lilac bushes all around you. heâs still cradling your cheek, smoothing over your wet skin, brushing a drop of water away with his thumb. clinging to your bottom eyelash.
âi don't get it, though.â
you blink. when you meet his eyes, satoru looks a little perplexed. muttering under his breath, absently rubbing circles over your cheekbone. you resist the urge to close your eyes again, biting back a blissful sigh.
âa prince shouldnât care for his knightâŠâ he repeats, like heâs heard the string of words a million times before. âthe idea of that. i donât understand it. never have.â
the smile that blossoms on his lips is soft, indescribably so, as if heâs looking at the most precious thing in his life. rich and warm, like wine in your veins, nectar on your tongue, a chest pressed against your own. dripping with fondness.
satoru tilts his head, as if in confusion â but heâs smiling. âwhatâs so strange about wanting to protect the one dearest to my heart?âÂ
âŠ
his hand slips from your skin, a warmth leaving your cheek. only to search for your hand, again, cradling it in his larger palm. placing it right over his chest, against the soaked material of his blouse. âfeel that?â
you do. a rhythmic rise and fall, a soft flutter from the depths of his ribcage. as if itâs itching to break out, out of the cage that binds it, the hardened shell around it. a heart too big for his body.
âitâs you,â satoru whispers. âall for you.â
a moment passes.
silently, you lean forward; tucking yourself into his neck. into that comforting warmth, wet skin beginning to dry, the steady thrum of his heart right by your ear. you listen. not saying a word, afraid of what might leave the confines of your strangled throat. it feels as if your heart has begun to crawl upwards, sweet honey blocking your airways, and all you can do it feel it pulse.Â
all while satoru gazes at you, fondly. placing a big palm on the back of your head.
fireflies dance in the distance. butterflies flutter about. strings of lilacs bloom under the glow of the moon. and satoruâs heartbeat never changes, never falls out of tune, a sound you would recognize even if the sky were to shatter, if the world were to end. the sound that saved you, the boy who dragged you out of hell. into his light.Â
satoru gojo is everything. heâs the beat of your heart, the silver of your sword, the reason you believe in goodness. heâs your prince, your favorite person, and youâll protect him until your very last breath. until the world runs out of oxygen.
a boy so sweet youâd die for him.
(a boy so sweet he wouldnât want you to.)
a shiver runs down his spine â sudden, a shudder of his bones, and a quiet little sniffle. you feel it, hear it, and donât attempt to bite back the fond smile that slips into the curve of your lips.
âcâmon,â you beckon, almost a coo, placing your palms on his chest to hoist yourself up. âletâs go home.â
but satoru shakes his head. and then he traps you again, strong arms around your waist, pressing you against him. you could escape â youâre almost certain youâre stronger â but you donât quite have the heart to. âitâs fine,â he huffs. almost a whine. âstay.â
âyouâll get sick.â
âi never get sick.â
a deep exhale. tumbling from your lips, just a little bit humorous. mostly exasperated. âthat can change,â you mumble, fingertips dancing along his exposed skin. absentmindedly.
a smile. one you canât see, but you hear it clear as day. he sounds content, like heâs got everything he needs right in front of him. âsome things never change,â he informs you. pleased. âjust look at us.â
and heâs right. so you donât say anything else.Â
but your heartbeat quickens, only for a beat or two, and youâre almost certain he feels it. if he does, he opts not to tease you for once, and youâre grateful. and so the silence lingers. as if time has begun to freeze, into an eternal dusk, a string of silent seconds. broken only by low melodic chirping from faraway fields, his soft breaths in your ear.Â
until satoru suddenly chuckles.
âhey,â he hums, shifting a little, the river swaying around you. pulling back to meet your gaze, eyes crinkled and voice raspy. âwanna know a secret?â
you raise your head. a dubious look on your face, one that has him breathing out an amused puff of air, like youâre getting ready to hear a bad joke. â... what is it?â
before the words have fully left your throat, heâs resting his forehead against yours â breath fanning over your lips. a pleasant shiver trails down your spine, at the close proximity, goosebumps spreading across your chilled skin. only exacerbated by the whisper that follows, so quiet you almost donât know if you heard him correctly. childlike in its sincerity. a sunlaced smile woven in between the vowels.
âi think i was born to meet you.â
(a sentiment so sweet you barely even feel the warmth of his lips meeting yours.)

Cuddle bug
natasha.r x fem!reader
summary â after returning from a long mission, all you want to do is just slip into the covers of your bed with a certain redhead.
warning(s) â none ><
word count : 412
A/N : it's quite short since i don't rlly know what to write, oops
men / minors dni!
You had just set foot into the compound after returning from what was the longest mission of your life. You swear that that mission had taken at least 9 hours worth of your precious time, when really it was just 2 hours.
You had planned on getting a small snack to eat once returning on the quinjet, but your legs had a mind of its own as it lead you to your room. But as you wait in the elevator, you don't think you mind the change, considering the fact that you'd be able to see your girlfriend. You didn't get a chance to say bye and give a farewell kiss since Steve dragged you out of the compound before you had a chance. And because of that, you ended up being moody the entire mission.
As soon as the elevator had reached your floor, you bolted out the opened metal doors and went right to your room. You slammed the door open, expecting to see a certain redhead, but no one was there. You looked around your room, but nothing had changed, meaning she hadn't been inside your room ever since she left. Sure Natasha was a trained assassin, but there would at least be a few traces if she was here, for example, the sweet smell of her vanilla perfume that you loved oh so much.
As you were taking off your combat boots, you were startled as a pair of arms wrapped around your waist. You didn't even have to look behind you to know who it was, already familiar with the way Natasha wraps her arms around you. You let out a loud sigh as Natasha let go of your waist and started massaging your shoulders, the tension already fading.
"How was your mission, malyshka?", you just replied with a hum, too tired to form words, all you wanted to do was just lay on top of your bed until the next day arrived. You dragged Natasha with you to your bed, laying down and signaling for her to do the same. She had no complaints and just got under the covers with you, spooning you from the back.
It was times like these that brought you the utmost joy, just being in Natasha's arms brought you happiness. You let your eyes fall shut, letting your muscles relax as you felt her breath hit your neck. You vaguely remember a fluttery feeling in your stomach before letting sleep consume you.
A/N : sorry for such a short one D: i didn't know how to continue with it so i just decided to end it like that, now that i look at it, it seems kinda rushed but whatever, hope you enjoyed it! xoxo

.ă»ă.ă»ăâă». .ă»ă.ă»ăâă». .ă»ă.ă»ăâă».
clapton. davis. what could you say about clapton davis? you had been best friends for as long as you could remember. it was always just easy with him. you never had to try too hard or try to be funny - he just got you, and you got him.
it was actually kind of poetically perfect that you two had applied to the same college together and had been accepted, a miracle too. clapton had the lowest gpa you'd ever heard of, but with his interest in music and the passion he clearly had for the history behind it - the college took kindly to that. you wondered if he offered to create a mix-tape for the assessors. there must have been some sort of bribe involved.
there was a time when he'd told you of his fear of the future, how he'd rather stay in the present. you remember this moment vividly, the two of you sat on your front lawn, stars sprawling above you as the world grew quiet. clapton nervously fidgeted with a blade of grass and you watched on. "the present is good, what's so wrong with wanting to stay here?" he spoke quietly, as though he knew that he didn't really believe what he was saying.
"well, yeah, the present is pretty cool," you smiled, nudging his shoulder with yours - this earned a smile from him, "but. . . don't you wanna see what's out there? who's out there?"
his eyes perked up from the blade of grass and settled on you for a few moments before darting across the street. his smile turned softer, shyer. clapton had all he wanted, right here.
the journey towards the college would take a couple of hours and clapton offered to give you a ride. your hands shook as you packed your belongings into his trunk. he watched from the side, eyebrows furrowing as he bit the inside of his cheek. once you were both settled into the small red car, clapton set off. but not before he reached his hand over, giving yours a reassuring squeeze.
he didn't let go for the entire journey.
the dorm room was pretty much what you were expecting, cramped, but decent. your roommate, damon, offered a smile to both of you as clapton helped you inside with your luggage. with a warm, tight hug and a small cheeky kiss on the cheek that you laughed off and so did he, clapton left. not before he sheepishly eyed your roommate, though. they exchanged a look, and it made your eyebrow raise as you gingerly rubbed the skin where his lips had been.
as soon as that door closed, damon piped up. "your boyfriend?"
a laugh erupted from you. clapton? your boyfriend? you hadn't even kissed, how could you possibly be dating? was it the kiss on the cheek? that doesn't count. you were best friends. there were no feelings there. clapton davis? dating? never. that damn skateboard had his heart. yeah. it wasn't like you had feelings for him that were bubbling below the surface, threatening to escape after every interaction. it's not like you wanted to ask him if this was something more. and it definitely wasn't like you had thought about pushing him against the lockers every day and kissing him like time was running out, or that you imagined him taking his hand in yours, for real - nah.
best friends. that's all it was.
but that comment remained firmly in your mind. it had been a few weeks and you couldn't shake it. was this really something more? could it be, even?
clapton was the kind of guy who could win anyone around, practically everyone he had ever met had fallen in love with him in some capacity. sure, he could be an ass when it came to his music opinions and that adorable sting fixation could be grating - but not to you. it was exactly that, adorable. he was like this with everyone, right?
even in class, you found it hard to focus. he'd insist on sitting behind you or beside you so he could pester you. in this particular lecture, he was behind. clapton leans back, swinging in his chair as he eyes the back of your head, caught in a daydream.
he sighs, deeply. clapton often looked at you like this when you weren't looking. he would desperately try to think of something to say to make you laugh, to catch your attention, to have your eyes fall on him even just for a little while. he flips open his little black notebook and peers at the bullet-pointed contents. 'say something funny, say something witty, wear their favourite colour, tell them you like them.' he hastily shut the book.
leaning over, his fingers brush your hair behind your ear. you immediately felt goosebumps spread across your neck and a tingle ran down your spine like lightning. a blush burned deep in your cheeks. "do. . . you got a pen i could borrow?" clapton whispered, his breath hot on your skin.
with a hard swallow, you passed a pen backwards and offered him a quick smile before looking straight ahead again, gritting your teeth to firmly push those thoughts from your head.
best. friends. that's all it was.
these thoughts led to you avoiding him, avoiding one on one time. it was better to stay in a group when you were with him, or was it? damon wasn't the last person to ask if you guys were dating. and you saw clapton's face when he was asked, the laugh he gave people - clearly he thought it was a joke too.
it was fine, it was going to be fine. one of your classmates had invited you to a house party that night, this would surely take your mind off things. you'd get some space, more space from clapton and maybe you'd find someone new. maybe he'd find someone new.
your stomach churned at the thought.
walking inside, you relished the sound of conversation from all sides. there wasn't any space to listen to your thoughts in here and that's exactly the kind of escape you wanted. shoulders rising and falling with a sigh of relief, you find the kitchen. a drink in hand and you definitely feel more relaxed. yeah, things were going to work out. things were-
clapton.
your eyes fixate on him from across the room. he's on the sofa, surrounded by people. they're chatting to him like he's the most interesting guy in the world. you notice when he laughs, they do too. they're hanging on his every word and they love it. they're too far away for you to make out their conversation, but you can tell that clapton is enjoying telling the story. he always did like attention - and not in a conceited way, he just naturally attracted people.
and then, his eyes met yours.
eyes widening, you look away and down the rest of your drink. a few seconds later, you started to leave the kitchen area to retreat towards the cramped hallway. clapton called out to you, telling you to wait, to 'come join him'. you didn't listen, but if you'd stayed a few seconds longer, you might have heard that the story he had enjoyed telling so much was about you and him.
in the hallway, you gathered yourself and ran your fingers through your hair. it wasn't long before you heard clapton approaching too, though, and you let out a soft grunt of frustration. "trouble in paradise?" someone muttered and you shot them an icy glare. the door to the backyard ahead, you left and slammed it behind you.
the cold atmosphere hit you and your cheeks were hotter than you realised. it felt as though you could actually breathe in the night air. but when you heard the door handle turn and clapton exit, you felt just as tense again.
"what the hell is going on with you?" he speaks in a firm but confused tone, there was a hint of hurt in there. the brunette approached you from behind and stopped just shy of you. "you've been acting weird for weeks, ignoring me, rejecting every single offer to hang out - did i do something wrong?"
that last sentence hurts you, it hurt to think of him wondering if he'd upset you. "no." is all you manage to say.
night envelops you both, the quiet thumping of the music from inside fills the silence in between your words.
"then, what?" he asks and you can hear him almost stomp his feet.
"people keep asking me if we're. . . a thing and i thought. . . well i thought it would be better if we kept some distance, that's all." you said with a shrug, folding your arms firmly.
silence falls around you both for a few moments. you wondered if he could hear how loudly your heart was beating in your chest, as though it were threatening to escape.
and then you could feel his presence behind you, his head near your shoulder, lips close to your ear. ". . . is that what you want?" clapton asked, his breath shaking slightly.
the closeness was almost too much to handle. your stomach in knots, it trips over itself, desperately trying to untangle the anxious mess inside. of course distance wasn't what you wanted.
he mutters your name softly into your ear, placing a hand on your hip and you snap, turning quickly with clenched fists. you want to yell, you want to ask him what you both are, you want to tell him to piss off - you want him.
fuck, you want him.
clapton raises his hands slightly to give you space and looks rather defeated, those hazel puppy dog eyes veering to the left to avert your heated gaze. but he then stands still, slowly his eyes return to yours and he can see conflict behind your eyes. gaining a little more of his confidence back, he puffs out his chest and takes a step closer. you noticed how his hands still shook though, despite that secure stance.
you held his gaze as he approached, your own hands shaking in turn. he almost commanded your attention with those eyes. and you realise in that moment that clapton sees you. he really sees you. he always has. you crave him, like it's been years since you both touched, his soft skin against yours.
"is that. . . what you want?" he repeats, bringing you out of your thoughts and he's firmer this time. you are inches from one another.
his hand snakes towards your neck along your supple skin, cupping against your jaw, thumb resting on your cheek. you can't help but let out a small gasp in response as your hand comes up to rest on his wrist. your cheek nuzzles into his touch, warm, safe.
"i want you." you finally admit, words trembling from your mouth, a short laugh following suit as if it was so silly to hear it out loud.
clapton's eyes sparkle and stare back into yours. you notice how his whole face lights up, unable to hide the smile pulling on his lips. "you have me, you always have." he admits with a soft chuckle like it was so obvious.
and then he kisses you, he kisses you like he's hungry, like he's starving. your lips collide, your eyes close and your knees threaten to buckle beneath you. you come undone. clapton wraps an arm around you to pull your body closer to his and you trail a hand up the back of his neck to grip that messy, adorable hair. his tongue slips into your mouth and you welcome it, feeling warmth rise in your belly.
you never wanted to let go, you never wanted to stop. his hand firmly on your neck and a strong hand on your back, he held you tightly. though you tried to suppress it, a little sigh of pleasure escapes and you can feel him smirk proudly through the kiss. it causes him to hold you tighter in response and your other hand grips his shirt for stability.
the cold air nips at your skin but it's a welcome sensation against the fervency of the kiss. his hand slides around your neck to the back of your head, his fingers lacing into the back of your hair causing ripples of tingles across your shoulders. you whisper his name into his mouth and it comes out in a pleading tone - but you're not sure what you're pleading for.
he gives you what you want, despite you yourself not knowing what that was. a gentle tug on your hair and his firm hand trailing down your side to tug at the bottom of your shirt cheekily. a giggle erupts from your lips as you pull away just enough to let it out, eyeing him with a smirk.
before you know it, your hand is in his and your eyes are drawn to watch your hands tangle together. it amazes you how perfectly they fit, his digits sneaking into yours with a thumb caressing your skin. it felt right. this was exactly what you wanted. it felt different from the other times, more tender, more meaningful. he gives your hand a gentle squeeze and you meet his gaze once more.
"so," he speaks up, breathless, "is our anniversary now or is it when i thought we were actually dating all those years ago?"
you can't help but laugh, breathless too. "oh my god," you roll your eyes, "shut up."

She manages to remain hidden in her chambers for three days following the consummation. Though she doesn't go as far as barring the door, she may as well have, only allowing two maid servants into the room and no one else save her grandsire. She allows him in the morning after the wedding, knowing that he is too persistent to keep out. The pleasantries only last so long, with him informing her of Baela and Rhaena's plan to return to court in time for her coronation before he begins inquiring as to whether or not the consummation was successful. She keeps the details as vague as possible before managing to kick him out with complaints of sickness. It keeps him away, him and everyone else who could possibly want to see her. And she is glad for it. Though it is not fair, she blames Corlys for her humiliation and refuses to speak with him further until this shame dissipates, unsure as to how she will ever be able to look at anyone within that damned council without thinking of how they had all put her in this situation. How they had watched them, her, while she and Aemond had done their duty.
It is foolish, she knows, to remain upset. A thousand women have endured such a fate before her and she does not doubt a thousand have yet to bear it, but she is the queen now. Should she wish to sulk in her shame, there is no one in the realm who can pull her from her rooms now.
Or, at least, not many.
He gives her time, keeping his distance for nearly four nights, but she knew he would come to her eventually. Duty is the pillar Aemond has built his life upon and he would not allow it to go unattended for long. Though she had thought he would come to her during the day, that he would find the time in his rigorous schedule to knock on her door and berate her for her lack of attention, for attempting to skate her duty. It was so expected that she had prepared herself for it, steeling herself whenever she heard footsteps sound too close to the door.
She hadnât expected him to come in through the passageways during the hour of ghosts, appearing in the mirror behind her as suddenly as a wraith.
She is forced to stifle a shriek when she catches sight of him, turning quickly to face him. It feels almost like having your back on a predator, the discomfort only growing when she catches the look on his face. Jaw set, lips pursed, looking around the room in disdain. It takes more effort than it should, to attempt to appear unaffected, but there is only one thought coursing through her mind now. That he is here to claim his rights, to do his husbandly duty. He had given her respite, likely longer than he had any reason to, and now he is here to begin what must be started.
The very thought makes her stomach sink, the consummation replaying in her head like a terrible dream, but she forces herself to steel her spine and appear unbothered, reprimanding him through the mirror.
"By the gods, Aemond, there is a door for a reason, you know. You cannot just sneak into my rooms like a thief in the night."
His mouth twitches at that, his irritation evident. "You are not answering your door. Nor are you leaving your chambers. I had almost begun to believe that you are ill."
"I am ill."
He simply hums, making his way toward her. She stiffens, whole body going rigid, but he does not touch her. Instead, his hand goes to the line of ornate bottles that sit below her vanity, each one lined meticulously. He picks up one of the bottles, uncorking it before holding it under his nose. It's a perfume, one that she had been gifted before the war by one of the lords vying for her affection. She had always liked it- a pretty thing that smelt of peaches and honey- and had used it sparingly, but his face remains unchanged as he pushes the cork back in and sets it back in the line.
"My mother has yet to leave me alone," he announces into the silence. She goes still again, not needing him to continue, but he pays her no heed. With his eye still locked on her, he continues. "She is determined to ensure that I understand the importance of conceiving an heir. Corlys as well, though I imagine he has come to visit you despite your illness."
It is her turn to clench her jaw, biting her tongue as she leans forward to fetch her hairbrush. "He has."
"Then you know why I've come?"

One Moment Per Episode With Dick Grayson
Season One, Episode One: "Titans"
Summary:
You and Dick haven't spoken since the Titans parted ways in San Francisco five years ago.
Even though you used to be as close as two people can be, both of you are doing just fine leading your own separate lives - until your psychic powers cause you to have a vision of the end of the world, and you have to turn to him for help. As much as Dick doesn't want to get involved, you know that him leading The Raven on the path she needs to travel is the only way to stop the terrible fate you saw.
He wants to deny it, and stay as far away from you as possible - but he can't avoid you or the truth that you have told him when he runs into that very Raven you speak of in an interrogation room later that night. He has to face a simple truth he has always known: you're always right.
Dick Grayson x Fem!Powered!Reader. Childhood Friends/Exes to Lovers. Emotional Angst and Bantering/Humor. Set during Season 1, Episode 1.
Word Count: 2,300
DC Titans Masterlist | AO3 Link | Series Masterlist
Detailed warnings and author's notes below the cut.
Warnings: the reader uses she/her pronouns (some people might accuse the reader character in this story of being more of an OC and I am okay with that - I try to make all the reader characters in my other stories as blank and open as possible and every now and then I let myself have a little bit of a treat) - but as usual with my stories, the majority of pronouns used in the fic are you/yours; other than clothing style and a scar that informs her backstory, the reader's looks are not described and are left vague (as far as race, body type, hair colour, etc. - those things are not described); the reader character does have powers - I might make a separate post detailing the reader's entire backstory and power set (or I might just let it be spelled out slowly through the chapters) - but for now, I will tell you that the reader character is psychic and can see glimpses of the future in dream-like visions; the reader and Dick are 'exes' - their relationship was never official (they never explicitly called each other boyfriend/girlfriend), but they used to have sex often (and they both have feelings for each other that they never openly spoke about), and they are childhood friends, so there is a lot of emotional history there; mentions of canon-typical violence; this fic does use Y/N; mentions of the reader being shot during a past undescribed incident; there is references to sex and discussions of sex, but no explicit smut (but there might be some later in the story? idk yet); emotionally constipated Dick Grayson; idk what else ? - pining, emotional angst, using humor to deflect emotional tension, banter. I just really like the vibes of this. there is not a lot of big content warnings for this fic (yet).
A/N: Honestly, I am really excited about this one. I have a lot of ideas for future episodes (especially the episode where Dick loses it emotionally and just gets followed around by a hallucination of Bruce for the entire episode - but that's not until Season 2, oop). Titans is one of my favourite series ever - if you couldn't tell - so getting to examine each episode closer and appreciate each individual episode as a unique piece of art while writing this instead of binging a whole season gives me a whole new appreciation for the show. I hope you guys enjoy these as they come out - especially because I do have an idea of where this fic is going, but I don't know where I want these characters to go in Season 4. (I kind of want to do a secret surprise reveal of two of the characters being related and being siblings, but... idk. Sometimes people don't like that.) But this is definitely a good opportunity to send me ideas of where you want this story to go/how you want it to end up. Anyway - please enjoy!!!
....
Dick needed some fucking air.Â
He could barely fucking handle today. He had to compose himself before he lost it and started breaking things. It was all such a shitshow - the department pushing a new partner on him, footage of Robin all over the news, every other half-cocked beat cop making comments about how Robin was just another masked psychopath who wasnât that different from The Joker.Â
Fuck them.Â
If they only knew what Gotham was like - if only they had to deal with a department full of assholeâs on the Jokerâs payroll. If only they had to watch criminals walk away because they made bail on the decision of a corrupt judge. If only they had to sit behind a desk and listen to a motherâs sobs as she begged for him to find her missing child - knowing how many people elbow to elbow with him would laugh at her tears rather than start looking.Â
If they only spent one night tending to civilians while the smell of burning flesh permeated the air, with the Jokerâs screaming laugh stuck in their ears because he thought that bombing a low-income housing complex was just that funny.Â
Fuck all of them.Â
Dick clenched his fist tight - his knuckles aching as he resisted the urge to drive his arm right through the glass at the front of the precinct. He just - he really needed some air.Â
Dick walked out the front doors (rather than smashing the glass), and took a deep breath of the cool night air, trying his best to calm down. It was getting late, and things were relatively slow, even for it being a Tuesday. No influx of late-night chaos yet. He had some time to collect himself before-Â
âSo - Robinâs in Detroit now, huh?âÂ
That voice.Â
Dick felt the sting of familiarity pluck at his spine, and he whipped his head around at lightning speed, looking in the direction of the voice. Surely enough - you were the one standing there. It hadnât been some kind of auditory hallucination on his part.Â
So much for time to calm himself down.Â
He was immediately met with a confliction - lust and annoyance bubbling up inside of him. He didnât want to see you again, he didnât want you to be here, especially not without warning. But you looked so damn good - it was a distraction from that fact.Â
That was always the thing about exes, wasnât it?Â
(If Dick could even call you his âexâ - the two of you had slept together more times than he could count, both metaphorically and literally, but the two of you had never put an official label on the relationship like he had with Dawn or Barbara. He cared for you like a friend, and like a lover in a way that he was never willing to admit - but did that make you his ex? Especially if he never stopped caring about you?)Â
That thing about exes being: they always look so fucking good when you see them after a long time of being apart. The universe dangling something in front of you that youâre not allowed to have and technically, should no longer want.Â
But oh - Dick found himself wanting so very badly. (And he tried his hardest to hide that fact as he continued to carefully stare you down.)Â
Because you looked so good.Â
You were wearing something of your usual style - an outfit of many confusing layers that somehow showed off the natural curves of your body and hid you all at the same time.Â
A long skirt with a ruffled hemline and bold, colorful pattern. A pair of boots that you had probably gotten from some vintage store that were likely older than both you and Dick, leathery and well worn in. Your jacket was much the same - a supple brown leather with a soft fur lining that made you look very warm and cozy.Â
Topped off with a pair of the largest, gaudiest dangling earrings that Dick had ever seen - the kind that would have gotten snagged on one of his nice shirts and gotten the two of you tangled up during one of your hook-ups. A pair of earrings that he would have scolded you for wearing - but he would have delighted in finding them on his bedroom floor after you left because it meant having a piece of you still with him. And it would mean having an excuse to visit you later because he had something of yours to return.Â
Those earrings glistened in the light of the street lamps, just as your eyes did while you stared him down with those inquisitive, knowing eyes. Looking at him with that same expression you always wore - the one that seemed to say you knew everything that he never would. It equally fascinated him and infuriated him.Â
He hated the fact that you had seemingly appeared out of nowhere, causing his heart to race - had you snuck up on him on purpose? Did you find it funny?Â
âY/N,â Dick said your name curtly, still feeling a slight twinge of shock that you were standing in front of him at all. âWhat the fuck are you doing here?âÂ
You let out a dry chuckle, and stepped closer to him, making his whole body stiff. His first instinct was to step backward - to gain more distance from you. But he didnât want to seem like he was afraid of you - afraid of that closeness. So he forcefully locked his legs and stayed in place as you drifted closer, and you idly conversed back.Â
âOh, Dickie.â You sighed in return, using his childhood nickname. âA warm welcome as always.âÂ
Dick rolled his eyes at this. Did he really need to bother with manners and formalities? The two of you had known each other for so long, he guessed that you were both well over stuff like that.Â
âDo I need a reason to be here? Canât I just visit an old friend?â You posed, a humorous tone still running through your voice.Â
He shoved his hands into his pockets as he took a more defensive stance. He quickly went from shock then to annoyance.Â
The two of you were old friends - you had known each other since you were in diapers together. The two of you had grown up together, raised by a unique circus family. And that meant that Dick knew you well enough to know that if you were here, you had a good reason to be.Â
(If you had wanted to chase him when he first left Gotham, you likely would have camped out in the trunk of his car, or you would have shown up at his new apartment the day after he moved in. You wouldnât have waited this long to contact him.)Â
âDo us both a favor and cut the bullshit, please.â Dick replied sternly. âWhy are you here?âÂ
âGrumpy.â You sighed, sounding defeated.Â
He waited for a moment, and surely enough - you folded, now willing to directly explain your reason for showing up in Detroit so suddenly.Â
âI had a vision.â You explained. âA girl. The Raven. A lot of others consider her to be the eater of worlds, but she is the one who is going to save us all, Dick.âÂ
He let out a harsh puff of air, reaching up and running fingers roughly over his temple. Yup, there it was - the headache had fully set in now. He really didnât need this. Not tonight.Â
He had known about your visions for a long time. When he was younger, he had been shocked to find out that you had inherited your motherâs âgiftâ. He previously had no clue that her set-up as a sideshow fortune teller with Tarot cards and a large crystal ball wasnât all psychology tricks and half-guesses she put on for tourists - but in fact, it was actually something informed by larger supernatural forces at play. And it was something you could do as well.Â
So he was inclined to believe you when you told him about this vague vision, but he also didnât want to be involved. He had a lot on his plate right now - he didnât need this.Â
âLook, Iâm sure that whatever you saw was important, but-â He began.Â
You sighed and shook your head harshly at this âbutâ.Â
âWhy donât you just take it to New York instead? This kind of thing is way more Donnaâs speed, anyway. Iâm sure she can help you find this girl, and-âÂ
âThat wonât help.â You told him. âThe girl is already on her way here.âÂ
You spoke the words with such utter certainty, and it sent shivers up Dickâs spine. The calm, tranquil look on your face - the ominous wiseness you held: it reminded Dick so much of your mother. The other-worldly authority she held that had ultimately gotten her killed. It was strangely creepy.Â
âJust so you know, I hate it when you say ominous shit like that.â Dick told you, gesturing to your person with stiff offense in his body. âJust because your mother played the creepy voodoo witch for tourists doesnât mean you have to.âÂ
âIâm not playing.â You replied, exasperated.Â
You knew that Dick could be frightened of your powers at times. He was someone very logic-based - he built his beliefs around facts. So having you follow your visions and your âgut feelingsâ when they were never concrete, changing on a dime - he hated the uncertainty and chaos that came with it all. But you had learned to trust yourself and your feelings over time, even if he didnât.Â
âAnd you know, youâre involved in this whether you want to be or not.â You told him, trying to get the conversation back on track. âI donât think itâs a coincidence that Robin made his first appearance in months last night.âÂ
Dick became stiff at this, and quickly glanced around - as though waiting for someone to appear out of nowhere and point an accusing finger at him, screaming out that he was Robin and he had been caught.Â
âYou canât help it, Dick Grasyon.â You declared with intense certainty. âYou need to save people, you need to feel like youâre making a difference, you-âÂ
âSo what, now you expect me to save the whole fucking world?â Dick snapped back.Â
âShe does.â You corrected.Â
âWho?â He replied - confused and once again annoyed at your mysticism and bold confidence in your visions.Â
âThe Raven.â You told him. âShe needs you. And whether you like it or not, you need her.âÂ
You shifted your stance then, waiting for him to tell you that you were right - which was how most of your arguments ended.Â
But then, as a sick reminder, the lapel of your jacket opened enough for Dick to get a glance at your chest. The neckline of your blouse was wide open, but his eyes werenât drawn to your cleavage - instead, he became focused on a large scar that you had sitting over your heart. A place where a bullet had ripped through you, leaving you barely alive.Â
He still remembered the feeling of your blood warm under his hands while you looked up at him with tears in your eyes, begging him to save you. He remembered sitting at your bedside, believing that you would never wake up again.Â
He couldnât help but to reach up and gently skim his thumb across the roughness of the scarred skin as he glared at it with a stiff jaw. The touch sent shivers through you - it was the first time he had touched you since that last night in Gotham, when you had woken up to an empty bed and absolutely no explanation as to where he had gone.Â
Dick felt rage boil inside of him.Â
How could you ask him to save the world when he had been responsible for this?Â
This - this was why he was no fucking savior.Â
âYou shouldnât be here.â He said, choking on the words slightly as he took his hand down, shoving it back into his pocket once again. He had to avoid the temptation of touching you any further.Â
If you werenât safe around him, why would some little girl from your visions be?Â
âThis isnât about me.â You scoffed. âOr-âÂ
âOr us.âÂ
You held back, knowing how dangerous it was to mention the royal Us around flighty Dick Grayson. For a bird without wings, he was absolutely capable of taking off in a quick moment when he wanted to.Â
âThis is about something so much bigger.â You pressed. âSheâll be here soon.âÂ
Dick let out another strained sigh at you using such ominous words again.Â
âWell, next time youâre gonna come here and be all ominous and creepy, you should at least bring some coffee.â He told you, sarcasm tight on his lips.Â
You made a mocking face in return.Â
âWell, you could be more polite.â You scoffed.Â
Before Dick could recommend that the two of you go and get a coffee in order to truly catch up, someone called out his name, drawing his attention away from you for a moment.Â
âHey, Grayson!â Someone called, sticking their head out the front door. âPrentiss is looking for you!âÂ
When he turned back, you were gone. He tried not to linger on it too much - how creepy it was. You were silent and quick like a ghost - he thought that your ominous jewelry might jingle like a house catâs bell.Â
But - he would call you later. Hopefully you still had the same number.Â
âŠ
Dick walked into the interrogation room, trying to clear his mind of the interaction with you. When he saw a small, scared girl, he thought it best to lighten the mood with a joke.Â
âHi, Iâm Detective Grayson.â He said, introducing himself. âI hear you like to play baseball with bricks and cop cars. You wanna tell me what happened?âÂ
âYouâre him.â She said, whimpering and tearful. âYouâre the boy from the Circus.âÂ
At first, Dick thought that everyone was simply being ominous and creepy today. But then he realized:
âOh fuck. You were right.â

A/N: Please do not ask me when this fic will be updated - this fic does not have a schedule.
While this is technically the first chapter in a 'series', each chapter is meant to be enjoyed on its own. The overarching plot of the series is still that of the original Titans show, and I won't be making any major changes to the canon of the show - I just intend to showcase smaller emotional moments between the reader character and the canon characters. This is something I want to work on casually in the background between working on other things. This fic is not my main focus, and I will not be rushing to update it or complete it.
Comments and reblogs are encouraged, and I am thankful for them - but please keep those comments focused on the actual content of the series (it's plot, the characters, their dynamics, etc.). Please do not spam me asking me to update this or asking me when I will update this - because I am not in a rush to do so. I have a lot of ideas for this series that I am excited about, but I want to work on it slowly and casually because I don't want to lose my enthusiasm for it and I know that rushing will take that enthusiasm away.
If you enjoyed this - great, thanks. But if you expect this to be updated weekly like a factory pumping out stuff on a clearly outlined schedule - then you are in the wrong place. If you are expecting constant updates of this fic and you will be disappointed if it doesn't get updated regularly - you should just block me now and pretend you didn't read it. But if you are a patient person - feel free to read and enjoy my other Titans works while I am working on updates for this (and working on other exciting things), and feel free to send me a message telling me what you thought of this fic or other fics in general.
Also - if you can't get Dick Grayson off your mind - my requests are open.

Bring Me Home Arc 3 Part 5
So it's been about 3 weeks since my promised update. Oops. Main issue was breaking my first bone as I'm sure most of you saw. On my right wrist, of course. And being right handed, meant I could barely type for that first week.
But also this is a transition section of the story. And I was struggling with how to best write said transition. I am finally happy with it, though. To make up for being so late, this is a long one! Hope you enjoy. The total word count for this arc is now up to 9.6k. Do with that as you will.
Story Summary: Jack and Maddie install a new ghost shield on the house which activates the moment Danny tries to step into his home. His secret is out and his parents are determined to excise the ghost from their son.
Luckily Danny isn't alone. The Young Justice, Sam, Tucker, and Jazz aren't going to leave him to suffer.
Arc 1: AO3
Arc 2: AO3; Tumblr - First, Last
Arc 3: First, Previous
Word Count: 3.6k (Told you it was a long one!)
-----
Pain was a constant through the rest of that never-ending drive. Danny would wake screaming from the nightmares only to continue screaming from the pain.
Tim was there every time. His words were soft and soothing, even when Danny couldnât make out their meaning between the throbbing of his human chest and aching core. Any time he woke, Tim did his best to force ectoplasm and liquid foods down his throat. If Danny couldnât manage even that much, he was given more of Frostbiteâs ice chips.
When they finally, finally stopped for the last time, Danny cried in relief. Kon carried him out of the van, a blanket under him as a makeshift stretcher. TTK meant that he was held perfectly flat even though Kon was only holding one end.
Timâs worried face peered down at him. âKonâs going to fly you up, okay? Iâll let you in through the window. Iâve disabled all cameras, so no one will see you.â
Danny think he nodded. He wanted to. He mustâve done something because Tim brushed his fingers across Dannyâs forehead, nodded, and disappeared from view. Then Danny was leaving the van. For the first time in Clockwork only knew how long. It was daytime, but the sky was overcast and gray.
When Kon flew with him, it wasnât the weightlessness of his own flight. Instead, he felt like they were fighting gravity. He hated it.
But it was only the matter of a few moments before they approached an open window and Kon carried him in. He was in too much pain to take in most of the room, but he did see a TV bigger than any heâd seen outside of Samâs home theater.
Kon didnât stop, and he was carried into another roomâa bedroom As they approached the bed, the sheets folded back on their own. Kon set him down as gently as possible, but pain shot up from his chest at even the slight change of position.
He stopped breathing, even the movements of his lungs were too much. Instead he just let the pain wash over him. Wave after wave of it. Vaguely, he was aware of someone grabbing his hand, of voices above him.
Gloved hands pressed something cold to his lips and Danny gratefully took the ice and the numbing coolness it promised. Not enough for full relief, nothing could give that right now. But by the time it was gone, he could at least think through the pain.
This time when he opened his eyes, he saw Timâs worried face, Kon standing behind him.
âBack with us?â asked Tim.
Danny grimaced and nodded. He tried a shallow breath. It hurt, but he could somewhat function through it. âSorry.â
Tim rolled his eyes. âI donât want to hear apologies from you for at least a month. This isnât your fault.â
âSorry,â Danny repeated.
Tim just huffed. âHowâs the bed? Do you need anything? Extra pillows?â
Danny bit his lip and let himself feel. The bed was soft. As far from the feel of the exam table as it was possible to be. It was also leagues better than the camping mattress heâd been using in the van. Honestly, it was probably better than his mattress back home. And the pillow was the perfect height for lying on his back. âItâs good.â
The look Tim gave him made Danny think he wasnât believed, but after a moment Tim just nodded. âIf youâre sure. Now, Kon and I are going to have to change your bandages and reapply the necessary creams and poultices. After, I want you to try and eat a little more.â
Danny groaned, already dreading the procedure. But it had to be done. He ignored the tears he couldnât stop and met Timâs eyes. âJust do it.â
Kon grimaced. âIâll make it quick.â
Danny tried to smile back but he knew he failed when neither Kon nor Tim looked any less concerned. âI know. Thanks.â
And it was true. Konâs TTK made the process so much easier that it would have been otherwise. However, there was no way to make it entirely painless. Especially when removing the final layer. Danny couldnât keep from crying out as the gauze stuck to his wounds. Finally, his chest was bared to the world. Danny trembled with the pain of it before gathering his courage and looking down.
This was his first time seeing his chest since heâd been pulled out of the lab. The incisions were inflamed and leaking, though they were already scabbing over. Green ectoplasm and red blood mingled in the secretions.
Tim and Kon didnât wait for him to catalog every mark, however. They quickly passed jars of Frostbiteâs concoctions to each other and set to work covering every area of his chest. Cold spread in the wake of their ministrations and Danny nearly wept in relief.
âThis is already looking better, Danny,â said Tim.
Danny scoffed, then winced as it pulled at the injuries. He clenched his eyes shut as he reminded his body he didnât need to breathe.
âHeâs right,â said Kon. âI donât think even Iâd be healing this quickly from injuries like yours.â
Danny didnât say anything as they continued to work. When they were done with the medications, Kon reapplied the bandages. Tim gave him another piece of ice which Danny took with relief.
Danny mumbled a thanks around the ice.
âAnytime,â said Kon. âMind if I take a picture of you so everyone can see youâre safe in Gotham now? Samâs been texting me non-stop asking for updates.â
Samâs concern is what finally allowed Danny to smile for the first time since heâd returned home and his parents had learned his secret. âPull up the sheet first. And just to her and Tuck and Jazz, please. I donât want your entire team to see me like this.â
ââCourse,â agreed Kon. Without Kon moving at all, the sheet rose up out of the blankets at the base of the bed and covered him up to his neck. Kon then took out his phone and snapped a photo before tapping at the screen.
Immediately it started ringing in his hands.
âAre you up for talking to them?â asked Tim.
Danny shook his head. âWant to, canât.â
Kon waved him off. âIâll tell them whatâs up. Eat something and get some sleep.â Kon turned away. As he left the room, Danny hear him answer the phone with a, âHey, babe,â before he shut the door, muffling all noise.
âYogurt, applesauce, or pudding?â asked Tim once they were alone.
âDo I have to?â
âYes. And another vial of ectoplasm.â
Danny sighed and asked for the applesauce. He only managed a few bites alternated with sips of ectoplasm before darkness pulled him under once more.
---
A throbbing pain slowly dragged him out of the blackness. He tried to cling to unconsciousness, but the throbbing was inescapable. With a quiet moan, he blinked awake in a dark room. For once, he was able to think past the pain. It was a constant, throbbing presence, but not as all consuming as it had been.
The mattress he was lying on was soft. So, so different to the hard table that had been his bed for those long hours in the lab. He twisted his head and rotated his jaw, relieved when the action wasnât hindered by harsh restraints.
He was in Gotham, out of their reach. Tim was here and he was safe.
He was safe from his parents. His parents hadâ hadâ Dannyâs breath caught and he couldnât finish the thought. He pulled in a gasping breath. The ball in the back of his throat made it so hard to breathe.
Heâd just⊠never thought theyâd actually do it. Heâd been so sure that once they realized who he was, theyâd hug him and continue to love him. He couldnât hold back the sob, loud in the silent room. His eyes burned and he didnât even try to stop the tears.
Next to him, on the floor, blankets rustled and Danny tensed.
âDanny?â asked a sleepy voice from the floor. Tim was here?
âSorry,â choked out Danny through ragged breaths. He was safe. His parents hated him. Nothing would ever be the same again.
âDonât be.â The mattress dipped next to him as Tim sat down. âItâd be weird if you didnât have a few breakdowns.â
âWhatâs going to happen to them?â Danny tried to wrap his arms around himself, but cried out at even the light pressure on his chest.
Tim pushed aside the thin sheet heâd been covered in and grabbed one of his hands. Danny clung to him until the sharp pain faded. And when it did, his breathing was more normal. His core still ached at the thought of his parents, but the physical pain had helped chase away the panic attack. At least for now.
âWhatâs going to happen to them?â he asked again; this time his voice was more stable.
âTheyâve been picked up by the Justice League. Tucker is helping with getting all their files transferred to document their history. Jazz and Sam have been giving reports on their behavior, lab and home safety measures, and their actions. Others have begun questioning the general public on Amity. Thereâs currently a few magic users there trying to determine if they can shut down the portal.â
Something in Danny screamed out at the idea of the portal being gone and he tensed. âNo! They canât shut it down! Please, you canât. Itâsâ Iâ you canât.â
âWhat? What are you talking about? We have to at least look for a way to shut it down!â
He was crying. Why was he crying. âYou canât,â Danny repeated. âIf itâs goneâŠâ he trailed off. Why did he feel so strongly about this? The portal had done nothing but cause him problems since it had turned on. âI died there. I died for it,â he whispered. Something in him knew it was important. His ghost half refused to accept that the portal could just disappear. âIf itâs gone, if it can just be turned off, what was it all for?â
And even that wasnât the full story. The portal was his parentsâ life work. It was the thing they spent time working on. It was what stole them away from Danny and Jazz. They missed Jazzâs recitals to work on it. They missed Dannyâs science fairs. Every forgotten dinner or event could be tied back to that portal. And if it was gone, what was the point of it all?
Tim sighed and squeezed his hand. âWe canât just leave it open, Danny. Itâs not safe.â
âI can design a door. A better one. One that actually works. Just⊠Leave it. Please. I can make it safe.â
Tim bit his lip and stared at Danny for a minute. âIâll let them know itâs an option. I donât know if theyâll go for it. Constantine is not happy with it existing. But Iâll see what I can do.â
Dannyâs shoulders slumped in relief. âThank you.â
Tim gave a half smile. âWhat are friends for? Now, think youâre up for something to eat? What do you want?â
Danny groaned. âDonât wanna.â
Tim ruffled his hair. âSorry, Polaris. Non-negotiable.â
âChocolate pudding?â asked Danny.
âSure. We canââ
Before Tim finished, a knock sounded on the door. âSomeone ask for chocolate pudding?â called out Kon.
Tim laughed. âCome on in!â Without delay, the door opened and Kon walked in. It shut on its own behind him.
Even Danny couldnât hold back the smile. He really had some great friends. âSpying on me, are you?â he asked.
âNot my fault you were talking so loud. Woke me up and everything!â
Danny, very maturely, stuck out his tongue. The grief he felt over his parents was hiding, ready to rear up again at any minute, but for now he had two friends with him. He would focus on that.
For the first time, Danny ate the entire pudding container and drank an entire vial of ectoplasm and wasnât ready to pass out when he was done.
âCan we put on a movie or something? I donât want to sit in the dark and quiet right now,â said Danny.
ââCourse, Polaris,â said Tim. âWhat do you want to watch?â
âKon, whereâd we leave off in your movie list?â asked Danny.
But Kon held up his hands and shook his head. âIâm definitely going to fall asleep halfway through if weâre watching a movie. Pick whatever you want and donât bring me into it.â
Danny pouted at him, but didnât push. Kon hadnât spent the last however many days sleeping. So he squeezed Timâs hand and asked, âThen how about we put on some Star Trek? Short episodes and if we fall asleep, weâve already seen them.â
Timâs teeth were bright in the dark as he grinned. âI can definitely arrange that. You just lie there and keep looking pretty and Iâll pull it up. TOS or TNG?â
âWhat the hell does that mean?â asked Kon.
Both Danny and Tim ignored him. âIâm far from pretty,â retorted Danny. At Timâs look, he rolled his eyes and said, âTOS.â
âComing right up!â
Mounted to the wall facing the foot of the bed was a TV, smaller than the one in the living room, but still bigger than the one he had in his living room back home. Within minutes the opening, âSpace, the final frontier,â rang through the room.
âSorry, bit loud,â said Tim before adjusting it down a touch.
Danny didnât bother replying as the episode started. Then Tim handed over a water bottle and settled back on the floor.
âWhat are you doing down there?â asked Danny.
âGetting comfortable? Where else would I go?â
Danny rolled his eyes, not that anyone could see. âThis bed is huge. Sit next to me.â
âWonât that jostle you?â
âKon, move me over closer to the edge. Then you and Tim can join me.â
Kon laughed. âI think Iâm going to go back to bed. Iâm a morning person, unlike you two. But sure, Iâll move you to make room for Tim.â
Danny grit his teeth as Kon put his hands under his shoulders. Then he was wrapped in the strange sensation of TTK and his entire body was picked up and moved closer to the edge of the bed. Even as gentle as he was, pain radiated at the movement.
Danny clenched his eyes shut and stopped breathing until it passed. When it did, he slowly blinked open his eyes until the black spots faded and patted the bed next to him. âGet in, Secrets.â
âAre you sure?â
Danny glared and Tim grinned sheepishly as did as instructed.
But then he still tried to leave too much space. âGet closer.â
Tim grumbled under his breath, but shifted over a few more inches. He was sitting more upright than Danny was, but it was fine. Danny leaned his head against Timâs side and finally let himself pay attention to the episode.
Next to him, Tim stiffened, but then relaxed and rested a hand on Dannyâs head. âIâm glad youâre here, Polaris.â
Danny just hummed and let the show and Timâs warmth help chase away the panic and grief he could still feel waiting for him.
---
Within two days, Danny was mostly able to sit upright. Frostbiteâs medicines really were miraculous. Though he wished he could go to the Far Frozen and get stuck in a pod unconscious for a few hours and wake up fully healed.
He was video chatting with Ellie on the PDA Tucker had left him, complaining about being confined to bed.
She grimaced in sympathy. âI hate being stuck in one place.â
Danny laughed, then winced. âTrust me, gremlin, we know. You canât even stay in the same city for more than a week.â
Ellie frowned and looked off to the side.
âWhatâs wrong?â
âWhat ifââ she cut herself off and bit on her lip. Danny let her collect her thoughts. âIâve been thinking of joining you. In Gotham.â
âWhat?â Danny was pretty sure his mouth was hanging open. Ellie had never expressed an interest in coming to stay with him before, instead prioritizing her travels through both Earth and the Realms. âYou want to come here?â
She frowned and glared at him. âYou told me Superboy is there! And heâs a clone, too. I want to meet him.â Then she looked away. More quietly, she added, ââSides, whoâs gonna be able to keep your ass safe from ghosts if someone decides to attack while youâre injured? You certainly canât protect yourself right now.â
For the first time since his parents captured him, Danny felt his core trill in happiness. She cared about him. âOf course you can come. I know Konâs been hoping to meet you one of these days, too.â
She grinned widely at him. âGreat.â She spun her PDA around and showed off the aerial view of a city. When she turned it back, she paused on the gargoyle she was sitting next to. âBecause Iâm already here. How do I find you?â
Dannyâs mouth was hanging open again. âYouâ Ellie!â But he was grinning and holding back laughter, too. âI have no idea. Let me call in Kon and Tim. Maybe one of them can direct you.â
He didnât even have to call for them before Kon was pushing open his door. âYou need us?â he asked.
âEllie wants to visit. Can one of you tell her how to get here?â
âSure,â said Tim. âWhere is she?â
Danny shrugged and held out the PDA. âSomewhere in the city. But I donât know where.â
Tim blinked at him for a moment before shrugging and taking the device. âWell that makes it easier.â He looked down at the screen. âHey, Ellie.â
âOh my god, youâre Superboy! Huge fan,â she exclaimed. Kon had shoved himself next to Tim so he could see her.
He grinned. âIâm a huge fan of you, too. Samâs told me some stories.â
âGlad youâre not dead anymore.â
Danny smacked his face when he heard her say that. Tim froze, wearing a fixed smile that Danny could see right through.
âJust tell them where you are,â said Danny as loud as he could.
âIâm getting there!â protested Ellie.
Kon burst out laughing. âI like you, Ellie.â
Danny couldnât quite make out her reply, but it was enough to get Tim back into the conversation. âTurn invisible and fly down to the street. Show me the nearest street sign, okay? And then Iâll help you get here.â
âOr I could just fly out and meet her and bring her myself,â offered Kon.
âYes!â cried Ellie. âThat!â
Tim shrugged. âJust show us the nearest street sign, okay? Iâll figure out a good landmark for Kon to meet you at.â
Danny let his mind drift as they discussed potential meeting spots. Not even ten minutes later, Kon left.
Tim ran his hands through his hair and returned the PDA to Danny. âThey should be back within twenty minutes. Anything we should get ready for Ellie?â
Danny shrugged. âNo idea when the last time she ate wouldâve been. Couldnât hurt to have something ready.â
âFine. Iâll blend you a smoothie and put a pizza in the oven. And set up the couch for her to sleep on.â
âThanks, Secrets.â
ââCourse, Polaris. Need anything before I go?â
Danny waved him off. âIâm good.â
Once he was alone, he pulled up the group chat with Sam, Tucker, and Jazz.
Danny: Ellieâs come to gotham Jazz: Oh good! She arrived. Howâs she doing? Danny: You knew she was on her way? And didnât tell me Danny: Betrayal! Danny: She and Kon havenât made it to the apartment yet. He just left to find her Sam: Oh good. Have Ellie talk to him about the benefits of stealing child support from an unethical creator Tucker: Iâm sure both Tim and I will be *thrilled* to help him out Danny: Heâs not stealing his child support? Sam: Nope. Heâs an idiot about it. Danny: We gotta fix that Jazz: Tell us when sheâs there! Jazz: Have Tim or Kon send a picture of the two of you Danny: Really? Iâm still bed bound! Jazz: Picture. Jazz: Itâs an order.
Danny groaned, but he was grinning through it. His friends were the best. He closed out of the chat and pulled up a game to kill time until Ellie got there.
He only made it through a level and a half before he heard a squealed, âDanny!â and running footsteps.
Ellie came to an abrupt stop at the side of his bed. Her hoodie had a few new patches since the last time he saw her, and she was frowning as she looked him over. âAre you really going to be okay?â
Danny held out an arm. âCome here, gremlin.â
She hesitated, but when he didnât say anything else, she climbed into bed with him and Danny wrapped his arm around her in a gentle hug. He wished he could hug her tighter, but this would have to do.
âIâll recover. Promise. Iâm already doing better.â
âThis is you doing better?â sniffed Ellie.
Danny winced. Maybe he shouldnât have said that. âI know. Itâs a lot. Feels like a lot to me, too. But Iâm okay. Or I will be.â
She sniffed and turned her face into his shoulder. Her voice was so soft he could barely hear it. âI canât lose any more brothers.â
Dannyâs eyes burned at that and he patted her shoulder. âIâm safe now. I promise. Youâre not gonna lose me.â He wiped away his own tears as she shook under his arm. He pressed a kiss to the top of her head and wished things had been different in so many ways.

A wild Danielle appeared! I've been waiting to introduce her. Next big introduction will be some of Tim's siblings.
Honestly, there's a few things I was excited about introducing this segment! Can you guess the other big reveal I've been sitting on?
I'm going to wait to write any more of Arc 3 until I get all of Arc 2 on AO3. I've ended up rewriting more than I planned on, so editing is taking longer than I expected. Also the wrist. That hindered things a bit, too.
If you want notifications when I update, please check out my Subscription Post.

Yours Truly
Fluff (angst if you squint)
Yu Jimin x fem!reader
Word count: 10.1k (haha oops)
You had known Yu Jimin even before your career as a singer was officially launched. You two were inseparable; wherever you went, Jimin was sure to follow, but did she actually care about you or were you simply a job to her?
______________________
You sat inside one of the conference rooms FT Entertainment had to offer, bouncing your leg and fighting the urge to bite your nails as anxiety threatened to take over your body.
The higher ups had called you to discuss some details regarding your debut as a soloist. You had been working hard for the past four years, and they had finally given you the green light, but you knew very well that nothing was set in stone, hence your uncontrollable nerves.
As you waited for everyone else involved to arrive, you couldn't help but wonder what exactly was about to be discussed. The single had already been chosen, concept and music video were already brought up, the songs for the album were approved, the schedule was ready, everything was settled; or at least, that's what you thought.
Just then, the doors of the conference room made way for a group of people. You recognized a few of them from previous meetings, perhaps this meeting was simply to go over everything you had planned already one more time.
While you waited for them to settle down, your attention was caught by the person taking the seat right by your side. You turned towards the new occupant of the chair, trying to get a good look at them when you realized you had a vague idea of who it was. Maybe you passed by each other in the busy hallways of the company?
The young woman sitting beside you had a cold exterior, at first glance she was very intimidating. You first noticed the mole right by her lips, then her long black hair which framed her small face perfectly, her calculating eyes looked everywhere but in your direction. What truly caught your attention though, was the fact that under the table, concealed to the rest of the people in the room, she was picking at the skin around her nails.
A nervous habit, you thought to yourself.
You wanted to reach out and tell her to stop for she would end up hurting herself, but you brushed off the idea, not wanting to make her uncomfortable.
You sighed, and that was what finally made her look directly at you. As you locked eyes, you gave her a small smile, trying to ease her nerves despite the fact that you were ready to combust any second now.
She didn't return your smile, but she gave you a slight nod in acknowledgement. Before you could muster up the courage to say something to your companion, someone else at the table cleared their throat.
"Good evening, everyone" the man sitting at the head of the table spoke, everyone else echoed the pleasantries before he continued "we're here today to go over the details regarding our new soloist's debut one last time, and also fix anything that might have been left behind. Please, proceed".
Another man present in the meeting went on and on about things you had already memorized. Trying your best to hide your boredom, you snuck a glance towards the girl sitting beside you only to realize she was dutifully taking notes of your schedule.
"y/n?" the man called out.
"Yes sir?"
"As you can see, there's only one thing missing from everything we have discussed so far" he paused, as if waiting for you to say something. When that didn't happen, he kept going "you can't just go gallivanting around without any type of supervision, which is why we've finally chosen the perfect person for the job".
You were confused, to say the least. He made it sound like you needed a babysitter and no one wanted to take the job.
"Are you talking about my manager, sir?" you cautiously asked.
"Correct. Don't worry, she might be on the younger side, but she has plenty of experience and she's already proven her worth" he had a pleased smile on his face, you noticed the girl beside you shifting a bit. "Coincidentally, she's sitting right beside you".
You, once again, turned to give the girl on your right your full attention. This time, she also did the same. You stared at each other for what felt like ages, you weren't sure what to think of your new manager, but you knew one thing. You can't make an enemy out of her unless you want her to make your life miserable. With that in mind, you tried to smile at her once more, you gave her the practiced smile you had been praised for by your media trainers before, but the girl beside you slightly furrowed her eyebrows before returning your smile hesitantly.
"I'm y/n y/l/n, it's very nice to meet you".
"My name is Yu Jimin, I look forward to working with you".
______________________
Yu Jimin had always been considered some sort of prodigy. Ever since she uttered her first words, everyone expected her to get far in life. Despite the pressure, Jimin lived a happy life growing up. She enjoyed school, had great friends, her parents were supportive of her dreams and her older sister was nice enough.
When Jimin told her parents she wanted to be a part of the entertainment industry they supported her decision. They thought their daughter wanted to be up on the stage, but that was far from what she wanted.
Jimin was interested in the entertainment world, sure, but she was more interested in how it worked, in the behind the scenes of it all. Jimin wanted to be a manager, she wanted to help out the artists, she wanted to be a part of the process. She aimed for a business management degree with a minor in marketing in the best university she could find.
During her senior year in college, she had an opportunity to work as a junior manager right there in FT Entertainment. The whole experience left a bittersweet feeling in Jimin's life, her client was far from pleasant and the senior manager was also far from being an ideal mentor. Nevertheless, Jimin wasn't ready to give up yet, she had never given up on anything in her life and she wasn't going to start now. So when FTE offered her a permanent position and a chance to be an official manager she took it without hesitation.
That's what brought her to you.
In truth, Jimin already knew you, or at least, she had an idea of who you were. She had seen you walking down the hallways of FTE, a smile always present on your face despite the grueling training you were going through. Jimin always thought you had a pretty smile, and you seemed to gather attention wherever you went, that was a good sign. Jimin had heard from the higher ups how incredible your skills were, and how it was the right time for your debut. They offered Jimin a chance to be your manager and she accepted the opportunity with much excitement.
Jimin's opinion on you shifted a bit when you threw that obviously manufactured smile her way. It wasn't the same pretty smile she had witnessed so many times in the hallways, it wasn't that genuine smile that gave others hope. Jimin didn't like it, not one bit.
She sighed, you were glued to each other now thanks to the contract, she just hoped you could get along.
______________________
After the introductions were made the meeting didn't last for much longer. You made your way to your newly assigned apartment, your schedule was officially starting tomorrow morning and you needed to get some sleep.
As you made your way through your night routine, you thought back to your interactions with your new manager. They were mostly limited to nods and hums here and there.
"Be ready by 5:30am, I'll come by to pick you up". That was the most the other woman had said to you.
You sighed. It's not that you were expecting to be besties with your manager, you were actually expecting some middle aged man with little to no patience whatsoever, but a spark of excitement spread through your body when you found out your manager was barely two years older than you were.
That spark was quickly put out when it was made clear by her that things between you were simply meant to be professional. So much for team work makes the dream work.
You were just about ready to close your eyes and get some sleep when your phone buzzed on your nightstand. Cursing whoever was texting you this late, you reached for your phone, puzzled as you realized it was an unknown number.
[10:45pm] unknown: Good night, Ms. y/l/n, this is your manager Ms. Yu.
[10:45pm] unknown: I'm just texting you so you can save my number. Don't forget to be ready by 5:30am. That's all, good night.
You sent her a simple reply, you didn't want to engage in further conversation and you were sure she wouldn't want to either. You set your alarm for 3:45am, internally crying when you saw the amount of time you would be able to sleep. Boy, it's going to be a long day.
When you awoke next morning, you seriously didn't feel like getting up, but you were in too deep in this whole thing now. Plus your manager looked like she would literally drag you to your next schedule, you had no choice.
As you stepped out of the comfort of your room to get something for breakfast, you almost had a heart attack when you saw a figure making its way through your living room. You let out the loudest scream you could muster as you made your way to turn the light switch on. The figure was clearly startled by both your shrieks and the light.
"What are you screaming for? It's just me, geez" your manager said, an annoyed look on her face.
"Oh my good god! What on earth are you doing here!?" she's the one breaking into your apartment and she still has the audacity to look mad? "We agreed to leave at 5:30am, what's going on?"
"I came to wake you up..." she replied, you noticed her picking the skin around her fingernails once again. Huh.
"I don't want to be ungrateful or rude, Ms. Yu, but I'm perfectly capable of waking up by myself" you huffed, but you felt some of your annoyance leaving your body when you noticed the girl before you looking embarrassed.
"I'm really sorry about that, I never meant to scare you" she looked down in shame, "my past client would never do anything at the arranged time, and it was my job to wake her up".
Your annoyance completely left your body when you heard that, poor thing really didn't mean any harm. You made a mental note to have better communication with your manager. You made your way to the kitchen without saying anything, she followed you curiously.
"What time did you wake up to get here so early?" you asked as you went through the fridge.
Jimin cleared her throat before responding "I have a feeling you're going to scream again if I tell you, let's just say very early".
You turned towards the girl and gave her a sympathetic look. "I appreciate the effort, Ms. Yu, but please don't sacrifice something as important as sleep for something so insignificant. Did you even eat before coming here?". Your manager shook her head and you sighed.
"Okay, we're gonna have breakfast together, and then you'll have to wait for me to get ready".
"Ms. y/l/n, that's not really-"
"It's not up for discussion, Ms. Yu" you cut her off. "Take a sit, I'll cook something up real quick".
Jimin reluctantly took a seat at the kitchen table as she watched you work. She's not at all what I expected.
"Again, I am very sorry for what happened" Jimin said, trying to break the silence that had enveloped you.
You sighed as you turned to face her "Don't worry about it, I know it's your job to take care of me, but what about you, huh?".
Your answer puzzled Jimin, "what do you mean by that?".
"You're gonna be taking care of me, so I will be taking care of you. It's only fair, don't you think? We're a team after all" you smiled at her, and this time she didn't reject your smile.
There it is, she thought, that beautiful smile.

The rest of the day was packed with activities, you and Jimin ran around the city barely getting any time to catch a break. When everything was over, it was almost midnight. Your manager dropped you off at your apartment, reminding you how you had to be ready to leave at 5:30am again.
You woke up the next morning and immediately made your way to the kitchen. As you were crossing the living room, you caught Jimin quietly closing the front door.
"Good morning, Ms. Yu" your greeting startled the other girl, she turned with a sheepish smile on her face.
"Good morning, Ms. y/l/n" she sighed "you don't seem surprised to see me".
"I had a feeling you weren't going to listen to me" you motioned for her to follow you to the kitchen "you're the stubborn type, aren't you?"
She blushed, that wasn't the impression she wanted you to have of her. "I'd prefer if you thought of me as... diligent".
"Diligent? Right." you chuckled "Anyway, breakfast for two?".

Months went by and as your debut was drawing near, your relationship with your manager had taken a turn for the better. She was much friendlier now, you found out she just needed a little time to open up.
Regardless of that, your schedules were still driving you crazy. You still had to get up incredibly early, and got home insanely late. You weren't the only one who was barely keeping it together though. Your manager would still get to your place way earlier than it was necessary and she would go back to her place even later because she insisted on dropping you off herself.
It was clearly taking a toll on her, you often caught her trying to take naps in between some of your schedules that didn't demand much of her attention. You were worried about her, she probably worked harder than you did and she wasn't going to receive as much credit as she deserved when the debut finally happened.
You were currently on a water break, your dance practice was almost over yet they allowed you a few minutes to breathe. You were sitting with your back against the wall, Jimin, as always, wasn't far away. She was sitting at a couch placed in the dance studio, lazily scrolling on her phone.
"Hey, Jimin?" you called out to her, feeling a little giddy. You still found it hard to believe sometimes how you got the rather standoffish girl to be your friend.
"What's up?" she turned to look at you with anticipation.
"So, I've been thinking-"
"Uh oh"
"Shush you, don't be mean" you playfully rolled your eyes as she laughed at her little joke "As I was saying, I've been thinking about our current situation".
"Don't tell me you're just realizing you're going to debut" she teased.
"Be serious for a second" you huffed "It's just, I've been thinking about how tired we both are, especially you".
"It's part of the job" Jimin shrugged.
"Right, I get that" you got up and walked over to where she was sitting "but things could be a little better, at least for you".
She stared at you for a second as you sat down across from her. "How so?".
"Why don't you move in with me?" you said casually. Jimin froze for a second not knowing how to react.
"What?" she said quietly.
"Jimin, think about it for a second. You only sleep for like an hour because you insist on coming over at 3am when you've barely dropped me off less than three hours ago. Also, you and I spend 24/7 together, we've known each other for a while now, it won't be weird".
Jimin sat quietly for a second, she was considering your offer. "Wouldn't I be bothering you?"
"I'm more bothered by the fact that you could collapse any second from exhaustion. Plus, I wouldn't be offering if it was a problem". You could see the gears turning in her head, she picked at the skin around her nails as she silently debated what to do.
"I can see you're not convinced so let's find a way to compromise" you suggested.
"Go on, I'm listening"
"Okay first, stop doing that, you're going to hurt yourself" you said, pointing at her hands. She blushed, but listened to you. "You move in with me, but it will be temporary. We'll live together until we have a decent schedule and you can get enough sleep at your own place".
Jimin considered your words and slowly nodded her head. "Yeah... yeah, okay. That sounds reasonable enough, let's do it" she smiled at you, and in that moment, it looked like all of her exhaustion was washed away.

("Ms. Yu?"
"Yes Ms. y/l/n?"
"Would you say we're friends?"
A pause.
"I don't see why we wouldn't be".
"Then... would it be okay if I were to call you Jimin?"
"It would be an honor if you did, y/n".)

The following days went off without a hitch. Jimin had temporarily moved into your apartment, and although your schedules were still insane your manager looked less like a zombie and more like your friend. Living with her wasnât unpleasant, you both had your own rooms and bathrooms, and neither of you had displayed any annoying habits. Jimin was surprised, she didnât expect you to be so organized; you were also surprised, you never expected the other girl to be so laid back when she got a chance to relax.
The universe had mercy on the two of you and granted you with three free days, you had planned to sleep through the entirety of your break, but Jimin had something else in mind.
âI hate grocery shopping! Itâs boring and it takes too longâ you whined, Jimin had never seen you resemble a child so much as in that exact moment.
âBut weâre almost out of foodâ Jimin reasoned. If she had known you were going to complain so much, she wouldâve tricked you into going instead of out right asking. Iâll just have to do that next month.
âCanât we order something?â
âWe donât have that much money eitherâ Jimin sighed. âWhy donât we make a deal?â
That caught your attention, you ceased your whining to hear her out. âGo on, Iâm listeningâ.
âIf you come with me and help out with the groceries, Iâll get you any snacks you wantâ you wanted to act like a child, she would treat you like one.
âAre you trying to bribe me? With snacks?â you arched one of your eyebrows âJimin, I know damn well youâre older than me, but Iâm not sixâ.
âThen stop acting like youâre sixâ she huffed. âOkay, letâs try that again. What do you want in exchange for a trip to the grocery store?â
Jimin saw the smirk that was slowly spreading through your face, and she swore she had never felt more nervous in her life.
âAnything I want?â you said, a suggestive look on your face.
âTry to be reasonableâ she gulped âplease?â.
âI want to spend some quality time with youâ.
What?
âHuh?â she wasnât sure she heard you right. She wasnât expecting something so simple, she fully expected you to ask her for something ridiculous.
âLetâs have a movie night, weâll sit back and relax, I think weâve earned itâ you smiled sweetly at her.
Jimin thought about it for a second, you werenât asking for much and you both really needed those groceries. Plus, spending a little quality time together wouldnât be so bad, you two would be working together for many years to come, it was the best course of action to try to get along as much as possible.
âOkay, but under one conditionâ she said, her voice taking a teasing tone, you shot her a look, waiting for her to continue âI get to pick the movieâ.
âAs long as itâs not horror Iâm totally gameâ you shrugged.
âFine by me, I donât like horror anywayâ.
âYou and I are going to be the best of friends; I just know it!â you smiled brightly at her.

"y/n!")

Time kept moving forward, and soon everything was ready for your debut. The album was completely recorded, the music video had already been edited, and you had perfected the choreography for your first live performance. Everyone at the company was beyond excited to finally launch the project, but no one seemed more excited than your manager. Jimin claimed she was a big fan of the album and she would buy a copy when it was available. You thanked her, but didnât take it to heart; your roommate was always nice with you, you thought she was simply trying to spare your feelings.
When the long-awaited day came around, FTE hosted a party to celebrate the rise of their new star. The debut had been a success; the general public loved the music video and fresh concept; they praised your vocal skills and loved the choreography. You spent the major part of the gathering talking to the higher ups and trading fake, business smiles rather than enjoying yourself like any young woman would. Jimin, on the other hand, was stuck in a similar situation. She was being praised left and right for her diligence and all the effort she put into this project. They even offered her a bigger opportunity, managing a bigger artist in the company; Jimin didnât have to think twice before rejecting the offer. She understood that her place was by your side.
As the party died down, you and Jimin made your way to your shared apartment. Your schedules became a bit more decent about a month ago, but Jimin insisted on staying there with you.
It will be way more efficient to keep working like this, she had said when you asked if she wanted to go back to her own place.
Making your way through the apartment, Jimin stopped you before you could step foot in your room.
âHey, y/n?â she softly called out to you.
âYes, Jimin?â she walked over to you and wrapped you in a long hug. It was something rather new, you had just recently become âtouchierâ with each other if you could even call it that. Brief hugs, hand holding to express support, leaning your head against her shoulder when you were having your âabsolutely mandatoryâ movie night, needless to say, you both had developed a bond along the way.
âIâm extremely proud of youâ she whispered.
âThanks, coming from you⊠it means way more than you realizeâ you whispered back to her.
She finally let go of you, and with one last smile she made her way into her room.
Jimin laughed to herself when she noticed the object that was waiting for her on her bed. A copy of your album with a note on top of it.
âTo my biggest fan, thank you for your unconditional support. I wouldnât have made it this far without you.
-Yours truly, y/nâ
Jimin smiled to herself, every day she thanked her lucky stars for giving her this opportunity, she really couldnât have asked for a better client. When she first met you, she had thought you were a diva in the making, a fake, but you proved her wrong every single day and she had learned to love every moment she got to spend by your side. So, when the time came for her to go back to her âhomeâ, as you had called it, she had thrown an excuse regarding efficiency and didnât look back. However, Jimin was too shy to admit that wasnât the real reason for her now permanent stay at your place.
Itâs doesnât feel like home without you.

âWhat do you think of this outfit?â

âPinocchio was a better liar than youâ)

Years went by, youâve become one of the biggest artists in the industry, and Jimin was been there with you every step of the way. From the existential crisis and the hate comments to winning awards and breaking records, Jimin has never left your side. You could say, without a doubt that sheâs your best friend.
Aside from her, youâve managed to make some pretty good friends in the industry, one of your closest friends being a member from a famous band, Miyeon. The two of you had met at a variety show and immediately hit it off, you shared a lot of the same interests which made your connection almost instant. Miyeon understood you in a way that even Jimin couldnât, you were very grateful to have a friend that was as famous as you were.
Jimin, on the other hand, didnât like Miyeon.
Jimin felt threatened by Miyeon. For the longest time, it had been just you and her, but then Miyeon came along. Jimin was happy that you found a friend, but she didnât like how that friend was the only thing you wanted to talk about, she didnât like the way your eyes seemed to sparkle anytime the other girl was around. Jimin hated it. Although, she didnât fully understand just why she felt like that.
It was one of your off days, Jimin was lazing around in the living room, wondering what to do with her free time when you walked out of your room looking ready to step out of your shared home.
(How come you and I donât have nicknames for each other?)
âHey babe, where are you going?â she asked.
(Is it necessary? Scratch that, is it important?)
âIâm going shopping!â you said, walking over to where she was sitting. âDo you want me to bring something back for you?â.
(Of course it is! How else are we supposed to showcase our amazing bond?)
âMm nah, I think Iâm good, thanks thoughâ she paused, considering something âare you going by yourself?â.
(Okay then, Iâll try to come up with something. What are you going to call me?)
âYou know I donât like shopping by myself, it gets boringâ you said dramatically, making your friend laugh âMiyeon is coming with me, sheâs actually picking me upâ. You finished with a smile, Jiminâs laughter quickly died down, her smile replaced with a scowl.
Jimin took a deep breath, trying to calm herself before she said something she shouldnât. âHave fun, be careful, donât get into a scandal, you know the drillâ. she shrugged her shoulders sighing defeatedly.
âLooks like someoneâs in a bad moodâ before you could question her sudden change in attitude, your phone buzzed in your hand âsaved by the bellâ you gave her a look, she simply rolled her eyes.
Would it be too much if I chained her to the kitchen table? Jimin thought to herself.
(Iâve actually been thinking about it. What do you think of Yuji? You know, as in Yu Ji-min. I think itâs cute.)
âSheâs here, I gotta goâ you gave Jimin a long look before continuing âhow about you and I watch a movie when I get back?â.
âTonight isnât movie night thoughâ she said in her âI know betterâ voice.
âStop being difficult, letâs hang out, pleaseâ you shot her your wounded puppy look and she immediately felt her resolve crumble. âWe can do something else if you want, I just want to spend some time with youâ.
If you actually wanted to spend time with me, you wouldnât be leaving with her right now. âOkay fine, letâs hang out when you get backâ she admitted defeat.
âYouâre the best!â you quickly gave her a kiss on the cheek and rushed to the front door âSee you later, Yuji!â and with that final exclamation you left.
(Yuji⊠no oneâs ever called me that before. I like it.)
Jimin sighed for what felt like the umpteenth time. She couldnât possibly stay on the couch simply waiting for you to get back, she wasnât a pet. She opted for calling her own friends, maybe they wanted to hang out with her, she thought rather bitterly.
You had been out for around four hours now, you and Miyeon had gone through every store and felt the exhaustion starting to hit, hence why you decided to stop by the food court to get something to snack on.
Laughter filled the table you two shared as you traded stories from your respective schedules. Miyeon had been casted for a drama and she kept complaining about how her co-star was âa literal man-childâ. You, in return, told her about the different people you had met at your recent job as an MC for a music show. However, your laughter was soon interrupted by your phone.
You furrowed your eyebrows when you saw the name that was flashing across the screen.
Manager Yu.
Jimin had two phones; one which she used exclusively for work, and the other she used for her own entertainment. Business and pleasure shouldnât mix, she had stated when you asked her about it. That rule applied even for you, she used her work phone whenever she had to notify you about an upcoming schedule, and she used her personal phone whenever she wanted to share something completely unrelated to work. The fact that she was calling from her work phone only meant that you were probably needed somewhere.
âExcuse me for a second, Miyeon, I need to take thisâ you smiled at your friend apologetically.
âDonât worry about it, take your timeâ she returned your smile as she got up from the table âIâll go to the restroom meanwhileâ.
You watched her walk away, before sighing and bringing the phone up to your ear. As soon as you picked up, Jiminâs voice could be heard through the speaker.
âHey baby!â she exclaimed.
âUm⊠hey, Yuji? Did something come up?â you bit your lip in anticipation.
âHuh? No, todayâs our free day, they know better than to bother usâ she stated, it only left you even more confused.
âThen why are you using this phone?â you asked incredulously.
âWell, I just really wanted you to pick up, I knew you wouldnât ignore a work callâ she said simply, you could literally hear the smirk on her face.
âI knew you were obsessed with meâ you sighed âcanât even go a few hours without my wonderful presenceâ.
âYouâre too full of yourselfâ she huffed indignantly âI just wanted to ask you if you could bring back pizza for dinnerâ.
You had a feeling that wasnât the only reason she was calling. You were aware of the fact that Jimin wasnât too fond of your friend, but you didnât know why. She was probably calling to play monitor, nevertheless, you didnât want to call her out on her odd behavior and make her feel embarrassed so you played along. âAlright, whatever you wantâ.
âThank you, baby, youâre the best!â she cheered, you giggled at that. Jimin, at first glance, was incredibly intimidating, but once she managed to grow comfortable with someone the huge dork she hid perfectly to the rest of the world would come out. You often teased her about how adorable she was.
âAnything for my biggest fanâ you said softly.
âI remember you said you were âtruly mineâ the first time you called me thatâ your manager said in a low voice. Oh.
âI did say thatâ you felt your heart beating faster. What was she getting at? She has never said something like this, it usually goes the other way around.
âDid you mean it?â
âOf course I didâ before you could say something else, Miyeon came back from the bathroom. âListen, I got to go. Weâll continue this when I get backâ you heard Jimin laughing before you hung up.
âIs everything okay?â Miyeon asked, a bit of concern lacing her question âyouâre blushingâ.
âYes, everythingâs fine, donât worry about itâ.

______________________
âIâm homeâ you called out as you stepped into your shared apartment. You heard multiple voices coming from the living room; had Jimin really spent this whole-time watching TV on the couch?
You made your way to the living room with Jiminâs favorite pizza in one hand, shopping bags in the other, you were about to complain to your manager about how she had tricked you earlier when you realized the other voices you heard werenât coming from the TV. You froze when you noticed four girls lounging around your living room. Two of them were sprawled on the couch, but your attention was entirely on the two girls that were occupying the floor.
Jimin sat there, her back resting against the couch as she cuddled with another girl you failed to recognize. You felt your blood boiling, while you were out getting Jimin her favorite pizza she was here with another girl in her arms? You clenched your jaw at the sight, but bit your tongue, knowing full well as a celebrity you couldnât exactly go off and insult random girls.
âOh my god! Itâs really her!â one of the girls on the couch exclaimed at the sight of you.
âSheâs even more beautiful in personâ the other occupant of the couch said, a smirk on her face.
You couldnât really pay attention to the girls, your focus zeroed in on the way Jiminâs arms were wrapped around the third strangerâs waist. Jimin cleared her throat before speaking.
âHey y/n, how was your day?â y/n? What happened to baby? Jimin rarely used your name, reserving it for times you two were in a professional environment, she hadnât really called you that in years outside of conference rooms. You furrowed your eyebrows at that, and she immediately sensed your displeasure.
âIt was fine, Yujiâ you sighed, realizing your anger was out of place. You had no right to be mad at her for being with another girl, you two were simply friends; the thought didnât help to ease how much it hurt though. âSo, am I interrupting?â
âNot at all!â one of the girls on the couch said âyou should join us!â
âPlease excuse my friendâs excitement, y/nâ. Ouch. âThese are my best friends. That oneâs Yizhuo, sheâs a big fan of yours, next to her is Aeri, and this oneâs Minjeongâ Jimin introduced each of her friends.
âCome on, Jimin, Iâm also a big fanâ the girl who was introduced as Aeri said with a smirk. âItâs an honor to meet you, gorgeousâ. You giggled at her obvious attempt; your reaction fueling her confidence.
âThank youâ you gave them your practiced smile, Jimin furrowed her eyebrows âitâs a pleasure, I love meeting fans, especially the cute onesâ you winked at Aeri.
âDo you want to watch a movie with us?â Yizhuo asked, you swore you saw stars in her eyes.
You moved to place the pizza on the coffee table before answering âDonât worry about it, enjoy your time together, Iâll be in my roomâ. Yizhuo pouted and you laughed âMaybe next time, okay?â. You smiled at the girls before making your way to your room, ready to collapse in your bed and be sad in peace, completely missing the way Jiminâs eyes followed your retreating figure.
Dinner time came around, you were debating whether you should step out and cook something up or just skip your meal altogether and sleep when the door to your room opened. Jimin stepped inside cautiously, holding a plate with two slices of pizza resting on it.
âHere, I saved some for youâ she offered you a soft smile, and you felt your heart aching even more.
You accepted the meal with a soft thank you, not daring to meet her eyes. Jimin was concerned, she felt your sad state the second she locked eyes with you when you stepped into the apartment. She didnât know what was causing your sadness, but she would do anything in her power to make you feel better.
âBabyâ she softly called out, you huffed at her choice of words âwhatâs wrong? Did Miyeon do something to you?â.
That immediately made you look at her, surprise written all over your face âWhat are you talking about? Miyeon wouldnât do anythingâ. She took note of the anger swimming in your eyes, there was something else there, but she couldnât figure out what it was.
âAre you sure? Youâve been upset since you came back, donât think for a second that I didnât noticeâ she stated.
âI donât want to talk about itâ you rolled your eyes. You knew you were being unfair, but you also werenât ready to go there with Jimin, your anger was still fresh, you knew you were bound to say something hurtful if you kept going.
Jimin felt herself growing more and more frustrated with you; she knew you like the back of her hand, one look into your eyes and she knew what was going through your head, she knew you often got stressed and took it out on the world, but you had never taken it out on her. Jimin couldnât figure out what was wrong with you.
âOkay, you donât want to talk? Thatâs fineâ you stared at her suspiciously, she continued âwe were supposed to hang out when you came back. Scoot over and make room for me, weâre watching a movieâ.
âWerenât you just watching movies with your friends?â you shot back rather bitterly, Jimin got a vague idea of what was bothering you.
âSo? I want to watch a movie with my girlâ she said as she climbed your bed, wrapping her arms around your waist and pulling you close to her.
âYour what?â you managed to squeak out, making her laugh in the process.
âYou said so yourself. The first time you did was four years ago on that note you left, and youâve been calling yourself that every single time you leave a note, no matter what the contents are, you always sign it like thatâ she held you tighter, her voice growing sultrier with every word she spoke.
âI have never referred to myself as âyour girlââ you said indignantly.
âNo?â she chuckled âYou always sign your notes with âyours trulyâ at the end, and I know very well you donât do that for anyone else. Doesnât that mean youâre mine?â she whispered in your ear.
You sighed, trying to calm yourself down. âWhat game are you playing, Jimin?â.
âMe?â she tried to ignore the way her heart dropped when you referred to her by her name instead of the nickname you always insisted on using âIâm not doing anything. I told you, I want to watch a movie with youâ. When you didnât say anything, Jimin counted this little moment as a victory for herself and chose a movie.
You settled down in Jiminâs arms trying to pay attention to the movie she had chosen; the key word being trying. Your mind kept going back to the girl that had previously occupied your current position. Jimin was a very touchy person, she was very into physical contact and you never complained, you enjoyed the attention. Cuddling wasnât something new for the two of you, it happened rather often, but you made the mistake of thinking this behavior was something she saved just for you. Turns out she cuddles all of her friends, you thought bitterly.
Jimin could sense your inner turmoil, and it made her feel sad not knowing how to help you. She pressed a kiss to your head as she held you tighter, wishing to protect you from whatever it was that was causing you such distress. What Jimin didnât know was that her actions made your heart ache even more.

âYour manager is here with you today, isnât she?â
âYes, she is. Why do you ask?â
âWe know your fans are also fond of her, they have this ongoing joke that you two are like an old married couple.â
You laughed rather loudly. Jimin, backstage, caught herself staring.
âWhat do you think of that, y/n?â
âWell, I donât mind, I honestly think itâs cute.â)

About a week had gone by since your jealousy had gotten the better of you, and there has been a certain tension between you and Jimin ever since. Jimin had grown bolder with you, she used to make a few flirtatious comments here and there, but theyâve become more frequent. Her touches have also changed, as if sheâs feeling more confident around you now. You werenât sure how to react.
You walked out of your room wanting to get a snack when you ran into Jimin loitering in the living room couch. She smiled when she saw you, but it seemed rather forced. You walked up to her wanting to see what was wrong when she surprised you by pulling you into her lap, she nuzzled your neck as her arms made their way around your waist. You giggled at the sensation.
âThat ticklesâŠâ you said, she hummed. âYou seem upset, whatâs wrong?â you asked as you played with her hair.
âI donât want you to feel bad, donât worry about it, babyâ she mumbled.
You frowned at her words âwhat do you mean? Did I do something wrong?â.
âNot exactlyâ she sighed, wondering if she should really tell you, but one look into your concerned eyes was enough to make her crack. âYou know how my birthdayâs coming up? I wanted to spend it with my parents since it was a free day, I even thought of bringing you along so I could introduce you, but now thatâs not going to happenâ. She finished with a pout and you felt your heart melting at the sight.
âIâm almost to afraid to ask, but why isnât it going to happen?â you bit your lip nervously.
âI got a call this morning, you have three interviews lined up that day and who knows if something else is going to pop offâ she said, resting her head on your shoulder.
âIâm really sorry about that, Yuji. Maybe I could call the company and ask for someone else to go with me? That way youâll get to spend your special day with your familyâ. You suggested but she quickly shook her head.
âDonât bother, I wanted to bring you with me, it wonât be the same without you thereâ.
âWhy did you want to bring me along?â you asked quietly, if Jimin wasnât so close she probably wouldnât have heard you.
âYouâre the most important person in my lifeâ she said as if it was nothing âof course I wanted them to meet youâ.
You cursed everyone involved in booking those interviews in your head, maybe now would be a good time to retire. You mumbled a soft thank you to Jimin and settled in her arms without saying anything else. She leaned back into a more comfortable position; both of you staying there, simply enjoying each otherâs presence.
I donât know how, but I will make sure Jimin has the best birthday sheâs ever had.

(ây/n, whatâs your most prized possession?â Mm, thatâs a good question, let me think about it.
Instagram live, you sat there reading through the many questions pouring in. Jimin was sitting a few feet away.
âJimin and I went to this workshop a few months ago where we learned how to make bracelets, we ended up making bracelets for each other. See?â
You showed your bracelet to the camera.
âThatâs my most prized possession, the bracelet Jimin worked so hard on because she loves me so much!â
Jimin rolled her eyes but still laughed, a fond look in her eyes.)
______________________
Jiminâs birthday rolled around and you pulled all the stops since the moment you woke up. Jimin had a routine she always had to follow, so you knew it by heart. You made sure to wake up before she did so you could surprise her properly. Honestly you had no idea if Jimin wanted to spend whatever free time remained with her friends, but she didnât mention anything so for your sake and sanity you assumed she doesnât have anything planned.
As you cooked breakfast for your manager, you went through the plan once again. Youâd wake her up with breakfast in bed, while she showered, youâd leave everything ready so you could surprise her once you came back from todayâs schedules. She could call her friends up if she wanted to after she received your gift, you wanted that moment to be only for the two of you.
Once you were done with her breakfast you made your way to her room with the tray in your hands. You tried to be as quiet as possible, not wanting her to wake up before you could put everything into place. You carefully placed the tray on her bedside table, took a deep breath and exclaimed:
âWake up! Wake up! Wake up!â
Jimin jolted awake feeling completely disoriented, she tried to rub the sleep out of her eyes while she attempted to figure out what was going on. The first thing she noticed was the smell of food, she turned to her bedside table and found a tray lying there containing a plate with pancakes, a cup of coffee, and a note that read:
Breakfast in bed for the birthday girl :)
-Yours truly, y/n
Jimin felt her heart melt at the sight, you clearly had woken up extra early to surprise her. She turned to you and opened her arms, silently asking you for a hug. You laughed but complied with her request.
âHappy birthday to the best manager in the worldâ you whispered.
âThank you for doing this, baby. It means the world to me, reallyâ she said fondly while she hugged you tighter. You let the embrace linger for a few seconds before making a move to get up, Jimin whined. âWhere are you going? Arenât we eating together?â she pouted, sometimes you found it hard to believe she was the older one between you two.
âI need to get ready, we have a job, remember?â you laughed at her expression. âEat up before your food gets cold, thereâs no time to waste!â and before she could keep complaining you rushed out her room. You had to make sure everything was perfect for her.
While you maneuvered through interviews and photoshoots, Jimin kept answering calls and texts from different people trying to wish her a happy birthday. At some point during the day, she had admitted it was overwhelming, but you countered that by claiming it was actually endearing how much others cared for her; the next time she answered a call her smile seemed more relaxed.
It was around 5pm when you two made it back home, Jimin quickly hugged you from behind, not wasting any time.
âYouâre always so clingy after a photoshootâ you teased.
âI donât like the way they look at you, sue meâ she huffed.
You laughed but quickly changed the subject, there was no need for you two to get into a fight or something along those lines, at least not today. âDonât you want to call your friends and invite them over?â
She hummed, letting you go so you could face her. âMinjeong called to say they would be here for dinner time. Is that okay with you?â.
You felt the jealousy bubbling in your chest when Jimin mentioned the other girl, but you tried your best to control yourself. âYuji, itâs your birthday, youâre in charge todayâ. A pause âactually scratch that, youâre in charge every day, but you know what I meanâ.
Jimin laughed âDo you want to do something together before they get here?â.
âActually yes, I have a surprise for you. Sit on the couch, Iâll be right backâ you said as you began to make your way to the fridge.
âAre you going to dance for me?â she said, wiggling her eyebrows and laughing.
âIn your dreams, buddy!â you yelled form the kitchen, you could hear her laughter growing louder at that.
âHey! Itâs my birthday! All of my dreams are supposed to come true todayâ. You rolled your eyes not wanting to answer to that. You made your way back to the living room with a cake box in your hands, you placed the box in the coffee table before addressing Jimin.
âI have to get something from my room, give me a secondâ you began to walk away, before turning to look at her with a raised eyebrow âdonât open the box while Iâm goneâ. Jimin laughed and agreed to wait for you to get back. You rushed to your room as quickly as possible, not trusting Jimin enough with the surprise.
As you made your way back, Jimin noticed an even bigger box in your arms this time. You placed the box next to the first one and turned to sit beside her on the couch. âOkay, all done. Go on, open the smaller box firstâ.
Jimin complied, reaching for the box. When she pulled the lid off, she couldnât help the gasp that came out of her lips. âA dinosaur themed cake, really?!â she exclaimed, a goofy grin spreading across her face.
You laughed at her reaction, pointing your phone towards her so you could take a picture. âYouâre a nerd like that, it was only fittingâ.
âI love it, thank you so much for this, babe!â she beamed before pressing a kiss to your cheek.
âOpen the next gift, I have a feeling youâre going to love it even moreâ you said, this time switching your phone to video which made Jimin a bit nervous.
Jimin reached for the next box with trembling hands, once she had it placed on her lap, she paused for a second. She picked at the skin around her fingernails as she tried to relax; you placed your hand over hers and offered her a soft smile, in that moment she knew there was no need to be nervous, it was just you after all, you had never given her any reason to doubt. Jimin carefully opened the box and immediately froze when she saw the contents of it.
âThis has to be some sort of dreamâŠâ she said quietly, her attention completely zeroed in on the box in her lap.
âHappy birthday, Yujiâ you said softly.
Inside the box sat the ten versions of the âI Got a Boyâ album by SNSD, aka Jiminâs favorite band.
âHow did you manage to get these? Theyâre almost impossible to find, and you even got all nine members!â she exclaimed.
âIâve been planning this for months nowâ you shrugged, a smirk playing at your lips âthe Jessica version was incredibly hard to find, but it was definitely worth itâ.
Jimin laughed, not really knowing what else to do. âThis must have cost a fortuneâ.
âNot to brag but being a celebrity has some perks, you know?â
Jimin, with extreme care, placed the box back in the coffee table and reached over to pull you into a hug. âBreakfast in bed, the dinosaur cake, my favorite bandâs album⊠why would you go through all this trouble for me?â.
âItâs pretty simple, youâre my absolute favorite person, Yujiâ you smiled at her âI would do anything for youâ. Jimin held you tighter, never wanting to let go.
âCome onâ you called out to her after a few seconds âwhy donât we go through your new albums together?â.

(âFor the next scene, we should have y/n on a boatâ a man suggested.
âNo, thatâs not a good ideaâ Jimin countered.
âOh really? And why not? Itâs summer, itâs a popular conceptâ
âThat might be true, but y/n has severe motion sickness, she wonât be able to film the music video properlyâ
âShe⊠does?â
âYes, one look at the boat and she will be throwing up nonstop. In fact, whenever she gets on a plane-â
âJimin stop embarrassing me!â)
______________________
In the entirety of her time knowing you, Jimin had never felt this furious towards you. Not only had you been ignoring her, giving her the cold shoulder and just acting like a complete brat, she had caught you in the kitchen of your shared home standing way too close to Aeri for her liking.
She could still picture the horrifying scene every time she closed her eyes. You standing there, giggling and twirling your hair like some school girl while Aeri leaned in close to whisper something in your ear. Jimin saw red as soon as she walked into the kitchen and caught you two like that.
Jimin didnât know what was worse, the fact that she got into a fight with one of her best friends, that you had locked yourself in your room after the incident and refused to talk to her, that she still couldnât bring herself to tell you how she felt, or that she had heard Aeri asking for your number right before she left.
Maybe she should go out, find a way to distract herself from this chaos. She was about to get up from her bed when she heard a knock on her door followed by your voice. âJimin? Can I come in?â.
Jimin considered her options, she wanted to scream, she wanted to ignore you the same way you had ignored her, but her heart ached for you; what she wanted most was to for you to tell her it was all a misunderstanding and you were all hers.
âOkay, come inâ you two should fix this mess as soon as possible, you couldnât go out to work if you refused to talk to each other. You shuffled into Jiminâs room with a conflicted expression on your face, you looked directly into Jiminâs eyes before deciding the floor was more interesting than her face. Jimin sighed, and when you turned to look at her again, she motioned for you to sit with her on the bed.
âWill you please tell me what the hell that was?â Jimin started, a stern expression on her face. You gulped; you had never seen her this mad.
âAeri and I were just talkingâ you said.
âBullshit!â Jimin exclaimed âI know Aeri very well, but it was clear as day that she was flirting with youâ.
âYou really want to do this? Fine.â You said defiantly, âI admit we were flirting, but why does that bother you, huh?â.
âWhy does that bother me? Because youâre mine, y/n! Excuse me for being bothered when someone else flirts with you!â Jimin raised her voice, but you werenât going to back down.
âIâm yours, really?â you laughed incredulously âAre you sure not mixing me up with Minjeong?â
âMinjeong? What on earth are you talking about?!â.
âWhenever Minjeong is around you always treat me differently, as if you donât want her to see anything, and before you try to brush me off again, I know for a fact you two used to dateâ.
âHow do you know that?â but Jimin knew the answer before you said anything.
âAeri told meâ you shrugged âshe told me all about how you were each otherâs first love and how youâre probably going to start dating againâ.
âMinjeong and I are just friends, weâre better off as friendsâ Jimin huffed.
âI see the way she looks at you, Jimin, Iâm not stupidâ you got up from the bed, wanting to put some distance between you.
âOh yeah?â she stood up as well, now you were screaming at each other from opposite sides of the bed âand how does she look at me, huh? Please, enlighten meâ.
âShe looks at you the exact same way I do, Jimin!â you felt tears threatening to spill form your eyes, but you had to get your point across. âItâs the exact way I wish you would look at me!â.
âIf what you say is true, then why the hell were you flirting with Aeri?!â Jimin wasnât ready to let that one go just yet.
âI wanted your attention! I wanted you to look at me!â you cried out. âEvery time Minjeong is around you act as if thereâs a wall between us, but whenever itâs just the two of us you treat me like Iâm the only one you want. The last time I tried to talk to you about it you called me dramatic, I didnât know what else to doâ.
ââŠYou gave Aeri your phone numberâ Jimin mumbled.
âJimin-â
âA-and what about Miyeon, huh?â it looked like Jimin still had some fight in her. âYou're practically obsessed with her!â
âWhat?â you shrieked.
âIâve been in love with you for the longest time, y/n. I love your laugh; I love the way you scrunch up your nose when youâre trying to concentrate. I love the way you hum along to whatever melody is stuck in your head when you cook; I love how you pretend to like sweets because you know I like them. I love the way you have to take a pill before getting into a car because your stomach is just weak like that, which brings me to how much I love the fact that youâre willing to ride rollercoasters with me even if it means youâll be puking your guts out for the next hour. I could go on and on, listing every little thing Iâve come to love about you, but it would probably take me decades. I just⊠feel insecure sometimes. I see how everyone else looks at you, I see these celebrities throwing themselves at you and I just know they could give you a better life than whatever it is that I could offer; but know this one thing, baby, they will never love you the way I doâ. Jimin finished her heartfelt speech with tears spilling out of her eyes.
âYou stubborn foolâ you sniffed âI want to be yours. I donât care about anyone else; do you have any idea how many celebrities I have rejected because Iâm waiting for you to actually ask me to be your girlfriend? Yuji, youâre the most important person in my life, I donât want anyone elseâ.
Jimin looked at you as if she couldnât believe what you were saying. âI thought you wouldnât feel the sameâŠâ
âYouâre joking, right?â you laughed despite the tears that were coming out of your eyes. âI honestly thought you were just fooling aroundâ.
Jimin walked over to you, wrapping her arms around your waist and lowered her voice, making you feel weak in the knees. âThereâs still a lot of things we need to talk about, but right now?â she placed a kiss on the corner of your mouth. âRight now, Iâm going to show you how much I love youâ. She placed a kiss on your neck. âAnd Iâm also going to remind you who you belong toâ.
Jimin desperately pressed her lips against yours, you sighed melting into the kiss.
âIâll make sure you never forget just how much I love youâ.

âYes, but-â
âI have a song literally called âyjmâ! You know, as in Yu Jimin?â
âOkay but-â
âWe went to Paris for my birthday!â
âYeah, as friends!â
âThe city of love? Really, Jimin?â)

Iâm not exactly a writer by any means, and this isnât a request, I just need someone to hear me out on this before I go insane. Space Marine 2 related but I donât think itâs got spoilers, and Iâll keep it very vague. This idea has been rotting in my head for the entire time Iâve played the game and I feel like imma explode
Setting: Space Marine 2 timeline
Imagine youâre Titusâ personal serf, or at the very least youâre tasked with cleaning and caring for that sector of Astartes rooms (with other serfs of course - at first). Titus used to be a captain so I donât think heâd be unaccustomed to it, but you happen to be one of the first people to show him genuine kindness, even if at first itâs a bit out of fear of him. Iâll be real tho heâs got this Auraâąïž about him that makes me think once heâs interacted with you the first time, you realize heâs actually not anâŠoverly-zealous Space Marine on the verge of throwing you out the door, or spewing insults your way on how your lack of efficiency offends him AND the Emperor.
Youâre probably still prepping his room or doing final rounds, and he returns from the first mission and finds you there. After deeply apologizing for the lack of urgency on your tasks, deep bow and voice near shaking, he dismisses it with a wave and says none necessary, with no demeaning sneers or stabbing glares youâre used to receiving, no threats of reprimand or orders to leave his sight.
In a bit of a shock, you dare to glance up to him ever so slightly, to see who this surprisingly calm & somewhat tired-sounding Astartes is, and boom eye contact. You have a âoh no heâs HOTâ moment, but also canât help but notice howâŠtired his eyes look. Maybe tired isnât the right word. But anyways you bow one more time and hurriedly make your way out to your other duties. You canât help but think about him tho. Uh fast forward, you probably bump into him a couple more times, and each time a few more words are exchanged between you two. You obviously have no idea who he actually is - no idea what heâs been through or what heâs been accused of. Heâs just a new marine on the ship you serve. But you canât help but feel heâs got the weight of some great world on his shoulders. The look in his eyes. The tone at which he says some things. Guarded, almost. However, he doesnât seem to be as on edge when speaking with you, or annoyed with the small talks. So, you feel encouraged to keep these talks happening.
In Titusâ view, youâre just a mere serf, and I think that gives him some reprieve â talking to someone who doesnât know. No suspicion. No prying questions (or digging more). Just casual small exchanges between two humans, even if one is a genetically engineered demi-god. And itâsâŠnice. Like he breath a little, even just for a second, without worrying about what is stressing him out.
Eventually when he comes back from another mission, perhaps a more..taxing mission, you decide to have balls of adamantium and bring him some kind of drink that you and your fellow serfs enjoy now & then as a way to help ease themselves to sleep (I imagine itâs just some kind of hot teaâŠI love hot tea. In some Giant Astartes size cup). Obviously you KNOW Astartes donât need this. They literally have to eat space mush bags of protein just to keep up with the demand of their bodies. (And Iâm not 100% on the lore but I think they can still consume regular food??)
you just want to show a little bit of kindness to someone in what is a very, very harsh world, and Astartes are, beneath all that augmented muscle and training, humans. Titus seems more so than the others. He showed you that rare kindness from the first interaction. So, maybe you can return a little more kindness to him, since you doubt itâs hardly something he encounters anywhere else.
Anyway Iâll try to wrap up this idea oops I donât mean to go on a tangent anyway this small gesture turns into you both becoming closer. Thereâs nights you just stay with him, no talking. You know it wonât help. And you know he canât/wont say what this great burden on his shoulders is. You just want him to know youâre there for him. Maybe you stroke his hair gently to soothe him to his scheduled very small amount of rest. Maybe he does just want some casual company, someone whose conversations are as easy and light as breathing air. eventually becoming something he looks forward to when on missions, someone to think of when especially beaten down by enemies, his one place of solace heâs had in many. many. years. and yeah uh eventually yall smooch smooch and progresses to full on you gettin dicked down and now youâre both in this relationship you canât put a label on exactly but you canât imagine being with anyone but him and vice versa. I can imagine Titus also being a bit thrown off from these feelings (Astartes brainwashing crashed.exe), but he doesnâtâŠdislike it. And the further the relationship progresses the more he allows himself to feel them. Leading to the dicking down of a lifetime. Theyâre both letting themselves be a little selfish. Something/someone thatâs theirs and theirs alone. Just this once.
or something like that. thatâs just a bare bones outline and can be altered as anyone sees fit. but this is my little version.
sorry for the novel.
- đđââŹ
God I would do fucking unspeakable things for Titus, let me clean his quarters all day, and then when he gets back I can spend time on my back worship the Emperor with him â€ïž
I love the idea of Titus falling for someone that doesnât know about his past or even better simply doesnât care. He just wants to move on.

Iâve been thinking of mentioning offhandedly to best friend!Yunho that you imagine romantic scenarios to help you sleep. You complain that itâs a little embarrassing and you hate that you kind of depend on them now.
He asks you questions out of genuine intrigue at first because heâs never heard of that before. âWho do you imagine?â âCelebrities, sometimes itâs just vaguely attractive men.â âAnd are you guys like kissing or what?â âMaybe? Most times theyâre just comforting me or doing something for me. Honestly most of the time I just want to be cuddled.â
I feel like you donât mean for it to be a desperate request, but Yunho takes it that way. Then he asks you if him cuddling you would help you sleep. You know⊠just so you donât have to make up scenarios anymore. Totally not in a super adorable caring boyfriend-esque type of way.
ooOoooOh this- oh i can so see it- this is so so sweet ;~; and would be very like yunho to then try as he might to figure out a way to be that "dream" guy, so to speak~ with him realising only when he is in too deep that he is literally turning into a boyfriend but not officially your boyfriend but he is acting like one and wants to be one
thank you so much my love!!! more thoughts below (wc. 630 oops):
i feel like this would happen while you are watching a romance film/anime together one night, and get into a conversation about 'dreaming of love'. maybe it is because you are a little sleepy and so your filters have gone down, or maybe it is because it is yunho you are talking to, you end up sharing what you have never told anyone before.
"i mean... it is sweet, and it does stop the brain noise, but i feel like it is just... another type of noise. ugh, not sure why i even-"
"oh no no, continue," you fail to hear any hint of judgement from him, in fact, if anything, he looks curious, and prior drowsiness from having watched multiple episodes in a row has evaporated.
you end up explaining, slowly, tentatively, what these dreams and thoughts entail, while yunho tries to picture what it would be like, until...
"...most of the time i just want to be cuddled." while other things you mentioned are a little more abstract, or at least you positioned them as such, this mention of cuddling, innocent affection, safety, closeness sets off what can only be described as a firework or a fuse being blown in yunho's brain.
he doesn't know why he is affected by your comment, but he is. at the same time, he feels guilty, because how could he, your best friend of who knows how many years, not have noticed such a thing? it must be that he does not hug you enough, right? totally... totally best friend duties which he now must fulfil and exceed in.
is there any logic to his internal arguments? no, not really, but it feels natural when you start to shy away and he clicks his tongue, smiles, and pulls you towards him. you pretend to squirm away, mumbling that now you definitely want the earth to open beneath you because "how dare you pity and make a joke out of my vulnerability jeong yunho", but he gingerly holds you and you feel too comfortable hiding in his arms.
"uhm... well... you said you don't want to be dependent on it... right?"
"yeah?" you answer, focusing on the soft thrum of his heart right against your ear, and the mumbling television in the background, long-forgotten.
"how about i.. help you... have a kind of holiday? from the scenario building?"
"what exactly are you suggesting..." you start to push away, but only manage to go back just enough to gaze up at yunho's face. you notice he is biting his lip again - nervous, in thought. what is he considering?
"nothing weird! just, i guess kind of like now, if you need a cuddle or whatever..."
"professional cuddler yuyu, now that's fresh."
as if yunho would stop there. slowly but surely, one thing after another shifts in your relationship, but it never goes out of bounds or feels out of line. cautiously, yunho sees what boundaries there are and tentatively tests them - many situations in which this happens you two have conquered before. grocery shopping, road trips, trips to gaming cafes... except now, more and more often, you feel his hand graze or remain on yours, and generally, yunho's presence feels a lot more real, a lot more personal, and a lot less friend-like.
one thing is for certain: now, when you got to sleep, be it while watching another film with yunho or listening to him attempting to play valorant with a relatively peaceful attitude, or even alone, the scenarios of celebrities and abstract figures are long gone. because now, the last thought of your night and the first thought of your morning are both
yunho
accompanied by the sweet nothings that he whispers to you when he thinks you are already in dreamland.

đžïžđ€ Promptober Day One - Murder Mystery đ€đžïž
| a/n; day one part two because I couldnât get enough apparently !
Promptober Schedule here
| cw; all fake murders, basically all fluff, someoneâs hand covers your mouth for just a second, Scott x reader could be implied if you squint
| wc; 1.1k oops
You could barely see where you were, flashlight in your hand just light enough to see your feet as you stumbled around - as quietly as possible.
Kate set it all up; sending out invitations days ago giving everyone a different role and dress code. You were the florist, a vague, rather boring role you didnât care much about. You figured youâd just focus on helping find the killer.
Everyone else really made showing up worth it - a seemingly tough detective Tyler paired with a surprisingly enthusiastic detective Javi - a real prize pick. Not to mention everyone fully embodying their roles, with the exception of Scott, who was probably hiding somewhere not-so-discreetly working on his phone.
There were candles few and far between around the house, you were hiding from something - or looking for something? You couldnât quite remember the thorough rules Kate listed off after everyone arrived, too busy searching for anyone who looked too suspicious for your liking.
You couldnât hear anything over the sound of your own heartbeat until the floorboard under you suddenly creaked, shocking you just enough to jump backwards, almost falling over something below you.
As you slowly shined your light by your feet the thumping in your ears increased, met with a gasp from your own mouth as you shined what little light you had over the body of a seemingly deceased Boone.
âBoone!â Your voice alerted a few others who rushed over in the dark, casting their lights together so you could just make out those around you.
âNo! Not Boone!â Tylers flashlight fell from his hand as he kneeled down, tough demeanor faltering for just a second. âWho would do this?â He lifted boones head up and used his jacket as a pillow for him, shaking his head as Javi put a hand on his shoulder from behind him.
âCome on Owens, weâll figure it out.â
âYouâre damn right we will detective. I will not stop until I find who was responsible for this crime.â He stood up with purpose, energy quickly restored as he paced around in the dark. You picked his flashlight back up and handed it over, his hand moving from his hip just to put it in his pocket before moving back.
âLetâs think about this. Who found his body?â Javi asked, disappointed in not seeing any physical clues.
âI did. I didnât see or hear anyone, itâs pretty dark in here I can barely see where Iâm going.â You explained, trying to remain as calm as possible while everyone shined their lights in your direction.
âAlright, maybe we should go around the room then, get an alibi from everyone, see if these stories line up.â Javi replied in question of Tyler, who was still occupied with pacing around the room.
âDetective Owens, get it together. I canât do this alone. Everyoneâs a suspect.â
âIs that right? Even you?â Tyler finally stopped in his place, content with the shocked faces around the room as everyone turned towards Javi.
âWhat? Why would I..â He started, taking a deep breath before continuing to focus on the facts at hand. âNo. I was in the kitchen when his body was found, the only other person Iâve seen is Scott.â
âScott?â Tyler repeated, arms crossed and stance directed towards his partner. âAnd where is Scott now, Javi? Is he dead too?â He questioned, lights around the room moving around in search of the man that was nowhere to be seen.
âNo! Come on, I donât know. Heâs probably hiding out somewhere, he doesnât even want to be here.â Javi reasoned, impatience in his tone as he tried to diffuse the situation.
âHiding? Do you think he could be the killer?â Kate asked, flashlights landing on the girl standing next to Javi.
âI mean, it could be anyone.â He shrugged, focus moving back to his partner across from him. âThatâs why we need to focus, Tyler. You have to trust me.â He all but begged, mostly wanting to find the actual killer and get back to interrogating.
âAlright, alright. Maybe youâre right.â Tyler rationed, scratching the back of his head before pointing at Javi. âLetâs find Scott first, see if he really is just off somewhere being a grouch or if heâs hiding something.â
Collective nods fell around the room as Javi and Tyler split everyone into groups - You were with Kate, Tyler, and Lily, looking downstairs, while Javi went with Dani and Dexter upstairs.
Every step was intense, the suspension palpable with every gasp at the creaky floors under your feet. The rest of your group went ahead of you after you signaled that you were checking one of the bathrooms.
â
The door slowly creaked open, your flashlight shining just enough to see a pair of feet before the door was shutting behind you. âWh-â The word was halfway out of your mouth before a hand was covering it, your light momentarily blinding Scott as he stood in front of you before you moved it back down and swatted his hand away.
âWhy are you hiding in here you freak, did you really kill Boone?â You whisper-screamed at him, squinting to make out his facial features before he moved a candle sitting on the bathtub to the sink beside you. Finally some real light.
âNo I didnât kill Boone. I didnât kill anyone, Iâm not playing this stupid game.â
âRight so youâre just grumpily hanging out in a badly lit bathroom by yourself for fun?â You questioned, rolling your eyes at his ever-present gum-chewing even in this clear life or death scenario.
âI was kinda hoping someone would have killed me by now.â He shrugged, content enough with his barely-there answer to pull his phone out and ignore your presence.
âGreat. Well Iâm going back out now, Iâve got a mystery to solve and you are no help to-â You stopped your grumbling quickly when someone yelled from outside the door. Opening it slowly, just enough to peek out and catch a glimpse of the scene in the hallway.
â
There was almost no light coming from anywhere, just making out the silhouettes of the two people outside and - is that Kate on the floor? You looked behind you as you felt Scott come over, peeking over your head as you lowly gasped at the man above Kate dropping her body and standing back up.
âOh my god is thatâŠâ You whispered to the man behind you, panic ensuing as the figure outside looked up and started quickly walking towards you, Scott grabbing the doorknob and quietly closing it as you stood shocked.
â

iFall for Harry pt. 5
Summary: Harry's got a proposition.
And you're not sure you're ready for it.
Word Count: 1.3k (SHE'S A BABY, I KNOW, BUT I GOTTA SET UP THE BIG STUFF)
(Previous parts to this series are down below at the end!)
SoâŠwhatâs the appropriate, normal, non-creepy amount of time to wait after fucking your fist to the sound of somebodyâs voice over the phone before texting them?
You grin to yourself when you see the text message slide down on your screen, your lip between your teeth as you click on his name.
Well, considering you could have a heart attack and keel over at any moment, Iâd say the sooner the better.
How did I know youâd say that?
Cause Iâm just so gosh darn charming.
Oh, is that what you are?
You seemed to think so when you were begging me to let you come.
âŠI wasnât begging, I was just askingâŠreallyâŠnicely.
Whatever helps you sleep at night.
I sleep a lot better after that phone call.
Yeah?
Yeah. Except for the fact that I wake up hard as a fucking rock and leaking into my boxers, butâŠwhatever.
Yum. I meanâŠyikes. Sounds painful.Â
Careful, Cheese Girl. Or I might just call you again.
And what would be so bad about that?
Well, for one, I quite literally donât think thereâs any fucking come left in my body.
âŠI donât know if I needed to hear that.
Why? Have you fallen in love?
Oh, is that what this strange feeling in my chest is? Love? Huh, I thought it was heartburn.
Aww, are you saying your heart burns for me?
Iâm saying youâre lucky your number isnât blocked.
Youâd never block me. You think about me too much.
Who says I think about you?
Do you?
You suck in a sharp breath, eyes glued to the screen as you contemplate a response.
You could lie to him. After all, he wouldnât know the difference.
ButâŠit would be a lie.
You do think about him. Far more than you care to admit.
The only problemâŠis that you donât want to think about him.
After all, what would telling him even do? Itâs not like anything could ever happen outside of the occasional phone sex.
You donât even know the man.
ButâŠwhat if you want to?
Yeah, I do. When itâs late at night and I canât sleep.
A solid minute passes before he finally sends his response.
What did I just say? Are you trying to fucking kill me?
If you can survive a heart attack, you can survive this.
I would never survive you.
Youâre not sure if this is meant to be a compliment or an insultâŠbut your heart flutters, nonetheless.
Oops, sorry. Bad time? Are you in another meeting?
Nah. Out by the pool.Â
That sounds nice. Itâs fucking freezing here.
And where is here...exactly? If you donât mind my asking.
Again, you hesitate. He could be a catfishâŠor a stalkerâŠor just a fucking creep.
Or maybe heâs just curious. Maybe he wants to get to know you. And itâs not like youâd be telling him your exact address. JustâŠmaybe a vague description of where you are in the country.
Iâm guessing Los Angeles from your area code.Â
And I only know that because I also have a Los Angeles area code.Â
Which you can probably tell, so I donât know why I said it.
And now Iâm rambling, and you arenât responding, and I think I freaked you out.
As the texts continue to roll in, you have to smirk, slightly relieved by how adorably flustered he is.
You can almost hear each response in his voice.
That sexy fucking voice.
Easy, Gramps. I lived in Los Angeles for a few years, but Iâm in New York now.
Ah, the Big Apple. Nice. I like New York, but youâre right, itâs fucking freezing.
Do you come a lot? To New York I mean.
Uh huh. Sure, you did. And yes. To both.
Very nice. Any particular reason?
Well, sometimes itâs because I'm remembering that phone call. But other times itâs because Iâm dreaming about that phone call. Either way, Iâm just always thinking about you.
Your stomach flips.
I meant any particular reason you come to New York so often, you twat.
Oh, right. Yeah, I do a lot of business there. Or business-related things.
I see.
Suddenly, the chat goes quiet. Far too quiet, and as the minutes begin to tick byâŠyou feel a strange tingle begin to crawl its way up the back of your throat.
And thenâ
ââŠhello?â
âHi.â Harry. His voice. Breathless and seemingly rattled. âSorry. I justâŠI figured if I didnât call, Iâd never say it? And I wanted to hear your reaction instead of just staring at those goddamn bubbles until I shit myself.â
A little surprised, you stand up from your desk and begin to pace toward the kitchen. âNo, itâs fine. Are youâŠokay?â
âIâmâŠno. Yes, no. Iâm fine.â
ââŠyes, no?â
âYes, Iâm fine,â he repeats. âSorry. IâmâŠshit. This isnât going how I wanted it to.â
Your eyebrows raise.Â
âIâŠso, hereâs the thing,â he tries again. âThereâs a thing. And I know weâŠdonât know each other, so we donât really do thingsâŠbut thereâs a thing. That maybeâŠcould be a thing. Like, an us thing.â
ââŠHarry?â
ââŠyeah?â
âYouâre rambling again.â
You hear him exhale a laugh before thereâs a bit of noise and he clears his throat. âSorry. Yeah, IâmâŠI do that. When Iâm nervous.â
âI see. And why are you nervous?â
ââCause ofâŠthe thing.â
âAh.â You nod, despite the fact that he canât see you. âWellâŠwhy donât you tell me what this thing is.â
âRight.â More noise. âSoâŠthe thing. IâmâŠgonna be in New York this week.â
He goes quiet then, as if giving you time to process what heâs saying.
What heâs implying.
âOh,â you breathe, the realization weighing heavy on your chest.Â
âYeah.â Another beat. âLook, I donâtâŠIâm not expecting us to meet. I donâtâŠthatâs weird, I know. ButâŠfuck, honestly? All I keep thinking aboutâŠis asking you. And I know itâs fucking weird. I know that but I had to ask you. âCause it would drive me nuts if I didnât.â
A long stretch of silence passes between you as your mind begins to work overtime to create any sort of response.
âYou donât have to give me an answer right now,â he adds after a moment, almost sounding embarrassed. âOr at all. I donâtâŠI really donât expect anything, butâŠIâll be in the city on Friday. AndâŠif you do want to meetâŠIâll be at Ellenâs Stardust Diner. At twelve. You couldâŠI donât know, peek in? See if I lookâŠworth your time? I donât know. IâmâŠshit, sorry. I thought this would go better.â
âNo, Iââ Your eyes squeeze shut. âIâllâŠIâll think about it.â
âReally?â He clears his throat again. âFuck, sorry. Iâm cool. UhâŠreally. Interesting. Okay, got it. Good to know.â
You smile to yourself as you lean against your kitchen island. âOh yeah, you are so cool.â
âThe coolestâhey, look, IâveâŠIâve gotta go,â he sighs, and for some reason, you feel your heart sink. âI know I keep doing that, and I swear I didnât mean to drop this on you and then disappear, Iâve justâŠIâveâŠâ
âMore meetings?â you guess, and you hear him take another breath.
âYeah. Sâalways more fucking meetings, and more fucking shit Iâm apparently doing wrong.âÂ
Your expression softens. âI see. WellâŠgood luck.â
âThanks.â A beat. âSoâŠyouâll think about it?â
âIâll think about it.â
ââCause you can tell me if Iâm just too attractive for you to actually meet. Iâll believe you.â
âOh, Iâm sure you would.â
âGood,â he chuckles. âOkay, I really do have to go now.â
âHey, Iâm just waiting for you to hang up.â
âHonestly, it might be easier if you hang up first. I donât really think I have the strength to hang up on you.â
There he fucking goes again.Â
You tug your lip between your teeth. âBye, Harry.â
âYeahâŠbye, Cheese Girl. Maybe see you Friday.â
You grin.
âYeah. Maybe see you Friday.â

If I have your wife, then kill me and eat me whole
on A03
<<Previous Episode : Next Episode>>
Summary:
As Logan and Wade move out of their honeymoon phase, more complex relationship issues emerge. For Wade, it's a surge of jealousy. A jealousy that Logan is doing everything in his power not to reflect back, reigning in its destructive power. It takes a harrowing encounter with a bolt cutter to get them on the same page.
Deadpool/Wolverine
Explicit
Words: 7044
One-shot in series
Content: angst, oral, jealousy, violence, mild torture. kidnapping
Should have gone to the gay bar. Those vibes look immaculate over there.
Wade laid his hands loosely around a chipped highball glass and a bottle of the shittiest beer imaginable, the bar dark against his back. He ran through the last few days, double checking everything off the list.
Day one: recon. No issue. Their security was garbage.Â
Day two: copy the data. Easy. Just slap that bitch on a flashdrive.Â
Day three: flash drive delivery to a drop location but not before making a copy to pass off to the X-Men. Not that the client knew about that part.Â
Day four: attacked by a group of ninja? Samurai? Some kind of a fighting force all in black with a weird overtone of anti-Asian stereotyping. They were clearly pissed off about the whole "stealing information" thing, and he and Logan kind of accidentally killed them all before finding out the details.Â
Oops.
And not even any hand-written letters laying out revenge plans to scavenge from a corpse.
In order to do mercenary work while still upholding the moral standards of the X-Men, Logan had a set of rules and compromises to follow if he was going to join Wade on a job. No politics. Nothing that harmed a pro-mutant organization. Nothing that got in the way of scientific progress (that was a special request from Hank). The X-Men got a copy of any data obtained during corporate espionage. They may not need it, at the moment, but knowledge was power.Â
And as few corpses as possible with the ideal number being zero.Â
Oops, again.
I'll take the heat on that one with Mr. Lazer and Wheels.Â
If Logan slipped up too much on a mission or let Wade get too far afield, they might lose access to the little cottage on the edge of the mansion property. Xavier, at some point, had conceived of a version of the school that was a little moreâŠgeneral? Something like that? And that meant non-mutant teachers, maybe? Wade was still unclear on the reasoning, just that it meant there were little two-room cabins scattered at the far extents of the grounds. These had been offered as a place for him and Logan to live as long as they behaved.
It had been very hard to behave.Â
They had been able to get a drop-off from the Blackbird on its way to whatever business, but they had to drive back over the next two days. They had taken off right after dealing with the vaguely racist commandos, so they were still dressed in their suits from the neck down. Logan needed a "goddamn drink" before they settled in for the night at the nearby shit-fuck motel. The only place that would take cash and not ask questions. No credit cards when someone was on your ass.Â
And Logan had pulled him into this place. Dark. Depressing. Okay, yeah, maybe perfect, honestly. Wade slammed back a swig from his bottle, then rolled it along its bottom edge.Â
A body dropped onto the barstool next to him. Wade gave the guy half a glance but didn't linger. He didn't look like someone out to kill him. Not a recognizable antagonist. Kind of weird that he sat right there, but then people were allowed to be weird in a perfectly mundane fashion.Â
StillâŠ
He flicked a knife on the inside of his wrist and waited for shit to get stupid.Â
"You here alone?" the fucking weirdo asked. This time Wade actually looked at him. Big guy, soft and jowly, trucker cap on backwards, greasy with a sort of mullet thing happening. Patchy, gross-ass goatee. Just a real mess of a man.Â
"No, here with my boyfriend. But he's taking a piss." Wade tapped the edge of the glass of Wild Turkey that he was guarding for Logan.Â
"Boyfriend?" Gross-dude took a swig of his Coors Lite.Â
"Yeah. He's The Wolverine. The X-Man Wolverine."
"I'm sure he is." They guy leaned in, moving his body into Wade's space.Â
"No, I mean that literally. And he will kick your ass." Wade flexed his wrist, tipping his knife into place.Â
Gross-dude dropped his hand from the bar then started sliding it across Wade's thigh.Â
"Maybe you give my little wolverine a try?"
Oh that is the dumbest fucking thing I've ever heard.
Wade twitched the knife. He saw the image in his head, blade through the man's hand into his thigh. His reaction would be worth the pain and annoyance of repairing his suit.
Then out of the corner of his eye, the bathroom door opened.Â
Oh no let Logan do it. That'll be hilarious.Â
#####
What an absolute nightmare of a job.Â
And now some asshole had his hand on Wade's thigh. He knew that was Deadpool, right? That he was about twenty seconds away from massive amounts of pain?Â
But Wade wasn't doing anything. PTSD reaction? Freeze response?
No, Wade was fucking with him, probably. Some kind of weird goof. Better to step in before the guy got knocked down and didn't wake up again. He moved across the room to Wade's other side, slid a thumb through a loop on the back of Wade's suit, and plucked the worst bourbon he'd ever had up from the ring of Wade's arms.
"Hey, babe, are we ready to go soon?" They hadn't opened a tab, paying in cash, so they could just leave if this was going to be a problem.
"Yeah, I was just talking to my new friend." Wade's eyes narrowed at him in annoyance. Logan glanced down to see the man's hand slowly retreating. He had gotten the message. They were good to go. The man started backing away, hands up.Â
But Wade kept looking at him. Then back at Logan. Then back at the man as he moved away. Then back at Logan. There was something there, like he was attempting to communicate without words. He could barely communicate with his words, so this wasn't effective.Â
"Really?" Wade finally said.
"What?" Logan took another sip of his drink.Â
"FuckingâŠfine."Â
The mad had made it back to his group of friends. Wade broke from Logan's light hook on his suit and took two steps to close the gap. With a single downward motion, he slammed one of his wrist knives into the guy's shoulder. Nothing vital, but something that would hurt like a sonofabitch going in and coming out. The guy spun around, falling back against the hightop behind him.
"It was a joke!" he gasped. "Hundred bucks for whoever pretended to hit on you."
"Oh. So you have to pretend? Not hot enough for a truck-stop impulse buy Billy Ray Cyrus?"Â
Logan hooked his arm under Wade's. There was a stack of cash on the table; the payout for the bet. He snatched it and tucked it into his belt.Â
"Payment for me not letting him kick your asses," Logan growled. "Wade, let's go." He dragged him across the room.
"Consent motherfuckers!" Wade barked as Logan managed to wrestle him through the door. They stumbled out onto the sidewalk, something saccharine and poppy but tantalizingly addictive drifting from the neon-colored club across the road.Â
Their motel was right down the street, a planned walking distance.Â
"You good?" Logan asked, wrapping his arm around Wade's waist. He pulled away.Â
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" he whined.Â
"With me ? What's wrong with you ?"Â
But Wade just huffed, taking off into the darkness.Â
It was going to be one of those nights.Â
"Like I just love how you see a man flirting with me, and you don't do anything."
There it was. It was two in the morning and Wade had been laying there next to him in their shitty motel bed, fuming silently. Logan had drifted into a very light sleep, but knew this was coming. He pressed his palms to his eyes and sat up a little, bed complaining under his weight. Â
"He wasn't actually flirting with you."
"You didn't know that when you came out of the bathroom. I didn't even know that. You just saw a guy with his hand on my thigh, and you didn't do anything."Â
Logan took a few deep breaths. Wade always worked from an internal logic. He just had to figure out what it was.Â
"I came over. I put my hand on you. Acted intimidatingly. He left without a fight." He tried to be measured without sounding condescending or sarcastic. They couldn't both be bad at this, and he was trying so hard. "What else would you have liked me to do?"
"Stab him in the face."
"I'm not going to go straight to stabbing if I can de-escalate. We de-escalatedâŠ.until you stabbed him, I guess. We talked about this. Stab first and ask questions later is something I'm trying to move away from."
"No, okay. I get the little code of ethics and anger management routine you're stuck on. That's not the problem." Wade lifted his hands, gesticulating in the dark.
"Was there something I didn't see? Were you in danger that I didn't notice?"
"No! He was just some asshole." He was getting madder and madder, but this line of questioning was working. He was narrowing in on the actual problem. And even under the anger he could hear Wade forcing himself to work out his issue verbally. As frustrated as he was, he was still managing to peel away layers.Â
"Then I don't understand. What did you want me to do?"Â
"I wanted you to be mad!"Â
"I was upset."Â
"No!" He shot up in bed. "I want you to be so mad that a guy is touching me that you inflict massive bodily harm."Â
Logically, that wasn't going to happen. Yeah, he had sliced and diced for lesser things, but he was actively trying to not do that, now. Trying to rein it in. Create some fucking longevity instead of being ready to go out guns blazing at the next given opportunity.Â
But, holy fuck, maybe he actually saw what Wade was upset about.Â
"You want me to be jealous of other people showing you attention."
"Yes! Yes oh my god! Yes! Thank you. What is the point of having a super hot X-Men boyfriend with metal for fingers if he doesn't use them to scare other men away?"Â
"Is it just men?"
"What?"
"What if a woman hits on you?"
And that short-circuited him, body-slumping over to think.
"Okay, come on, lay back down." Logan opened his arms, and Wade crawled in obediently. He was a creature of habit if nothing else. "We'll talk about it more in the morning."Â
Wade nodded against his chest. He would either forget about it completely, or this was going to last for a week. Only the next day would tell.Â
#####
"Jelly bean, buy me this shirt."
"Why?"
"Because you love me."
"Well, yes. Obviously." Logan's hand found a place in the small of Wade's back as he leaned in for a closer look at the display through the window. "But you have literally a dozen shirts with that fucking cat on it. You don't need another one."Â
"Yeah, but this one has Kuromi." Wade swung around the archway into the store and made for the t-shirt wall, hoodie up, one hand in his pocket, the other around his drink. He didn't actually want anything. They had only stopped at the mall to grab some food and shake this black van that had been following them the past hour. Dragging The Wolverine into Hot Topic was just the top five funniest things of all time. He looked ridiculous in work boots and tight Levi's and t-shirt stretching taught over his chest
fucking stop it you're in public
I'm gonna tear that ass up later, though.Â
Logan was better at compartmentalizing his horniness and letting it all out at once in an appropriate place. Maybe that was part of the issue.
Because the bar thing was still needling at him.Â
They had resolved it last night. Logan understood why he was upset. He, in fact, went out of his way to try to understand why Wade was upset. That therapy shit was working. Maybe he ought to start going again. Because goddamn they were killing this whole communication business.Â
He watched Logan sip his fountain drink and gently flick through the metal grate of earrings. Logan pulled one off the display.Â
"You think Laura would like these?" he asked, showing them to Wade around the side of the grate. They were little bloody daggers that dangled, so yeah probably. One problem.
"They're one hundred percent her vibe, but her ears aren't pierced." Wade sipped on his bubble tea loudly. Logan stared at the earring card.Â
"They aren't?"
Wade leaned in to speak in a low voice. Fuck if he wasn't going to occasionally practice a modicum of decency in public.Â
"Remember when we were talking about dick piercings?"
"Right, healing factor." He slid the earrings back.Â
"That is some excellent fathering, right there."
"Shut the fuck up."
"If your daughter can't get piercings, you can order clip-on converters online." The girl came out of nowhere, anime shirt and baggy jeans and oh my god was scene hair coming back? She was with a small group, maybe seventeen or eighteen years old.Â
And all of them were staring at Logan as they milled around the store. Hungry eyes. Undressing him in their minds. He knew that look because he did it all the time. Only he was allowed to do it. These girlsâŠthese minorsâŠÂ weren't.
The rage was hotter than he expected. LikeâŠÂ a lot. Like if he had his guns on him, there would be a non-zero chance of brain and blood splatter across the Nightmare Before Christmas display.
"Shit. Okay." Logan pulled the earrings right back down then grabbed a few more sets, a variety of skulls and other cutesy depictions of deadly weaponry. "Did you actually want that t-shirt, babe?"
"No, I was just fuckin' with ya, honey bunny." The girls looked between them, taking in the implication of the exchange. Good.Â
Yeah, I get it. I look like a hairless cat in drag. But I'm the one that pulled that hottie. That ass belongs to me. That mouth? Around my dick. Conversations about our deepest fears and lingering traumas? Yeah, I'm the one he has those with.Â
That last one was the sexiest.Â
"Wade?" Logan was at the door, already checked out and shoving his wallet back into his jeans.Â
"Coming!" Wade shuffled back out through the door, glancing around the edge of his hood at the nearest girl.Â
Coming for me TONIGHT more like.Â
fuck, chill out, Wade
"You were giving that girl in there the evil eye," Logan said quietly, knocking his body against Wade's.Â
"She was making eyes at my boyfriend." Wade slipped his arm into Logan's forcefully. Logan chuckled.Â
"I think they were just being friendly. They saw a useless old man and tried to help."
"You cannot be this fucking dense, you immaculate asshole."Â
"IâŠokayâŠI'm flattered you think teen girls would be into me, but you might be a little biased."Â
"I'm certainly bi about that ass."
"That was a really bad one."
"They can't all be winners." Wade sucked down the last of his drink and tossed it in the trash as they passed. Logan reached over to do the same, and kissed Wade on the cheek in the process.Â
"Does it make you mad to think of other people being attracted to me?" Logan asked, fishing.
"Absolutely livid. If I so much as think about someone looking at you with a lustful gaze, it's likeâŠflamesâŠshootingâŠoff the side of my face. And I think about it all the time. When we're out in public I just know that people are looking at you then looking at me and being like 'oh, the bar is in hell, I guess.' But I'm sensible enough to know this level of obsession isn't normal, so I haven't stabbed anyone. Yet."
"Hm, okay." Logan's voice settled into a cadence of contemplation.Â
no no no that makes me feel icky inside
"'Hm, okay' what? I don't like it when you think inside thoughts."
"I'm allowed to have those."
"Not around me you aren't."Â
"Jesus fuck, Wade. Okay." He moved them into a side hallway that led down to the bathrooms and other backside navigation. "I didn't understand why you were upset last night because I don't think the same way you do. I don't get mad about people hitting on you. I don't even really think about it. It's not something I worry about at all. So-"
"Why don't you think about it?" Wade shoved his hands in his pockets. There was that sick feeling. The one that lurked in the back of his head. That this was all temporary. A happiness that he wasn't allowed to have.Â
"That's what I'm getting to-"Â
"You don't think I'm attractive enough? That other people wouldn't look at me like that?"
"Wade-"
"I mean I get that I look like a piebald moose testicle-"
"Please don't do that-"Â
"-but to actually hear it from you."Â
Logan slapped his hands around Wade's shoulders.Â
"Wade, I-"Â Wade didn't hear the other side of the statement, his vision going suddenly black.Â
#####
Wade crumpled in front of him, and he only just managed to catch him as he fell.Â
The people in the black van had found them, but where the fuck were they? There were too many people here. He couldn't get a scent on them. No sound.Â
Something sharp bit into his neck and he slapped at it. Tiny blow dart. His vision swam, but it would take more than that to bring him down, the healing factor working immediately to purge it. Another one caught him in the middle of his back. Where the fuck was it coming from? He scrabbled along his own spine, trying to pry the dart out while still holding Wade against him. This one had more of a punch, and the sway started overtaking him.Â
No.Â
This was a bullshit way to go out.Â
He hit his knee, bringing Wade down with him.Â
"WadeâŠwake up. Fucking heal already." But then he felt his body fumble and fall into blackness.Â
"They're waking up. Dose them again."
"These motherfuckers are heavy."
Ropes around the wrist and knees. Laying in the back of a van. Moving down the highway fast. Another bite on the ankle and the world faded again.Â
"Hey, pookie bear, wake up." Something bonked lightly into the back of his skull.Â
"Fuck." He startled back into consciousness. They were tied up back to back on chairs in a dark, nondescript room. "Oh this is stupid as fuck. Are these the people we stole the data from?"
"Probably," Wade said idly. There was a one-way window to his left, and he looked at Wade in the reflection. He was slumped a little but alert.Â
Logan tested how he had been tied to the chair. It was tight. Something stronger than it looked. Any old asshole could get adamantium and vibranium and all that shit, anymore. He flung out a claw, but the angle was wrong to do a direct cut. Together they should be fine to get out, though. Wade had a dozen knives on him at any given moment.Â
"Alright. What's our plan?" Logan asked.Â
"What do you mean you don't worry about people hitting on me?"
"Are we really doing this, right now?"
"We've got time!"Â
"Gentlemen. You're awake." A nondescript man dressed in black sauntered in through a gray metal door. A pair of bolt cutters were slung over his arm. This was one of those kinds of sessions.
"Can this wait?" Wade asked with a pout. "We were in the middle of a relationship altering conversation."
This gave the man a bit of a pause, but he kept moving slowly, circling around to Wade.Â
"Now, I recognize some professionals when I see them. So I'll cut to it quickly." He tapped the bolt cutter to Wade's hand. "Who sent you to steal from me?" He poised the cutter over Wade's pinky.Â
"Bruh," Wade tsked. "I don't fucking know. Logie, my question."
"Wade, honey. Please pay attention to what's happening, right now." Logan wriggled their lashed together chairs.Â
"Oh what's he gonna do, take a finger?"Â
And he did, the cutter moving through Wade's pinky with a crack and squish. Wade jerked with the pain, but moved right back into the conversation.Â
"I need an answer, Logan."
"Christ," Logan muttered. "No you're not conventionally attractive. Okay? So realistically I wouldn't expect you to get hit on by randos compared to, I don't know, fuckin' Ryan Reynolds."
"AHA! I THOUGHT SO!" The chairs jumped with his movement.Â
"But that's not the point, goddamnit. I think you're hot as fuck, and that's all that should matter. I'm the only attention you should care about."
"Oh. Hm." Wade rocked their chairs a little.Â
"Okay, as adorable as this is, I still have my own questions." Bolt cutter guy positioned the thing over Wade's next finger. "Who are you working for?."
"Your mother," Wade replied. "She hired me after I was done blowing her back out then providing appropriate after care."
The sound of the crunch on his next finger got lost under Wade's next complaint.
"So you wouldn't be mad if someone tried to pick me up in a bar?"
"NoâŠnot really...Because you're going home with me, in the end."Â
"I really need an answer to my questions, so let me remind you," bolt-cutter said.Â
CRUNCH.Â
"Okay, that one fucking hurt a little," Wade said then turned back to the window to look at Logan in the reflection. "So you justâŠdon't care? You don't care if some drunk dude slides his hands down my pants."Â
"I don't understand what's happening here," bolt cutter guy said.Â
CrUncH?
"I know that if some drunk guy slides his hands down your pants, he's not going home with a hand, Wade. If he goes home at all. So, yeah, I'll be mad that you had to go through something like that, and take revenge as needed, but I know you'll fucking deal with it. You're supposed to be the one I don't have to worry about." He hadn't said it out loud. It felt like too much pressure to put on the relationship. But now things were getting dire.Â
cr-u-n-ch
"What the fuck does that mean?" Wade tried spinning, but he was stopped by the strapping on the chair.Â
"I swear to GodâŠ" Bolt cutter guy started moving away, but Logan was too focused on Wade in the reflection to keep tracking him.Â
"Everyone I love dies. Or gets converted to sapient space dust. Or didn't actually exist because the memory was implanted by some asshole. You just lost five fingers and still have the energy to bitch at me. I don't have to worry if my claws come out at the wrong time around you. If anything, you like it."
"I do. I'll admit that."
"I don't have to worry about you 24/7. I don't have to constantly think about how I'm going to protect you or if I can rescue you in time if a merc job goes wrong. Because you can take care of yourself. I can just breathe and focus on just being a person. Being a couple. Because I know you're going to come home at the end of the day."
"Maybe I want to be saved, sometimes." Wade squirmed in the chair, trying to get his face around to Logan's shoulder. "Maybe I don't want to have to take care of myself and let someone else do it. Maybe I'm also tired of having to protect everyone that I Iove all the time from goddamn mystical, world-ending bullshit. It's literally the reason I came and got you. To help me. So that I wouldn't have to do it alone. Maybe I don't want to have to carry that weight all the time either. It's too heavy."
"Fuck," Logan sighed. "You're right. I get what you're saying. Let's take some time after this to work it out."
"Maybe you stab a barista that smiles at me too long."
"We'll circle back to that."Â
"You people are fucking insane." They both jumped, briefly forgetting bolt cutter guy was there. "But I still need my answers. So maybe I switch gears." He moved from Wade to Logan, and tapped the circle of blade to Logan's hand.Â
"Oh, no, those little piggies are mine, " growled Wade.
With the disgusting crunch of a dislocated shoulder and elbow, Wade managed to wriggle out of the bindings around his arms.Â
"Could you do that the whole time?" Logan asked.Â
"We were having a conversation," Wade replied.Â
Loose from the bindings, he had enough space to pull the knife from the hidden space in the pocket of his hoodie and swing it hard into the side of bolt cutter guy. These idiots hadn't fully patted him down. Rookie mistake.Â
The bolt cutter guy had thought this would go his way. He didn't have a backup plan beyond screaming about the knife now in his pancreas, swinging the cutter around in a panic. This left plenty of time for Wade to reach down and break the chair legs free of the base. This didn't release the bindings around his ankles, but he could walk. He snapped his joints back into place with a series of cracks.Â
"Who the fuck are you people?" Bolt-cutter backed up against the wall.Â
"You really don't know? Holy shit." Wade pulled the knife free. With the force of that he lost his grip on the bolt-cutters.Â
Wade sliced down through the bindings keeping Logan to the chair.Â
"I'm Deadpool, and that's the goddamn Wolverine."
The bolt cutter guy reared back to swing the cutters, aiming for Wade's head with the rest of his strength.
Logan was as fast as Wade, ripping free from the chair, claws coming out in the time he crossed the room. A single movement up through his ribs, and bolt cutter guy dropped like a rock. They stared down at him, both covered in splatters of his blood.
"How much do you actually want to fight your way out of here?" Logan sighed.Â
"My swords and guns are in the car, so it won't be nearly as fun." Wade leaned against the wall, wiping his knife on his hoodie.Â
"Thinking the same thing." Logan moved toward the one-way window. Someone had to be on the other side. He tapped on the glass with the tip of his claw. "You got ten minutes, and we're busting through that door. We will be leaving. You decide what that looks like. This is the chance you get to go home to your kids tonight."Â
Wade sidled up to him, slipping his arms around Logan's waist.
"I'veâŠuhâŠI've lost a little more blood than I realized."Â
Logan went to the bottom of his shirt and ripped strips away.Â
"Give them here," Logan said. "Wrap your hand while I see where your fingers got to." He wandered back to the chair, searching the floor.Â
"You don't have to do that, chicken tender."Â
"It's faster, right? And they're all right here." Logan scooped them up from the floor. "Pretty clear cut. What fucking brand are these?" Logan also grabbed the bolt cutters, throwing them over his shoulder. "See if this brand makes hedge clippers." He held the fingers out to Wade.Â
"Why the fuck are you thinking about hedge clippers, right now?"Â
"The bush in front of the main window is too tall."Â
Wade held the first of the fingers in place, waiting for it to attach.Â
"I thought the kids on landscape duty took care of that."Â
"They just run the riding mower. We do the hedges and edging. Well, I do. You haven't done shit."
"Ohh, when I get all these fingers back on we should do some edging." Wade bit his bottom lip as he worked on the next finger.Â
"Hilarious."Â
"Wait, who put in the dog-run for Puppins? I assumed that was one of the kids." He had made it through all his fingers but didn't dare stretch them, yet.Â
"That was me. Laura helped."
"OhâŠthank you. That was nice." Wade pecked Logan on the cheek.
"Those fuckin' zoomiesâŠ" But Logan didn't know what the rest of that sentence looked like and just sort of vaguely mimicked the act of running with his fingers. The crackle of a speaker came from somewhere above them, and a voice blared out.Â
"Okay, you might talk a big game, but if you think you're getting out of here-BLACHT"Â
The voice through the speaker cut off violently with a wet, choking sound. Splatty and gross. Wade jumped against Logan with surprise at the scream, clutching Logan's chest with his still healing hands.Â
"Oh. Wait. It's the X-Men." Wade set his head against Logan's shoulder. "No big deal." Wade knocked on the window. "We're in here, you sexy little spandex aficionados." Logan slapped his hand from the window.
"It could also be someone more annoying to deal with, and we just lost our escape window."
"Oh, no, it's totally them. I have a microtransponder in my shoe that I set off when I woke up here. These people did not pat us down well, at all."Â
"You have a transponderâŠin your shoeâŠ"
"Mhm. They don't want to lose you as an asset, so if you come with me on a job, I have to wear it. But I also wasn't supposed to tell you. Oops."Â
"How long were you awake before me?" Logan canted his head toward Wade, pieces coming together now that the tranquilizer was working its way out completely.Â
"A while. Ran my mouth at them so they'd torture me first. Figured I hold out longer than you. AlsoâŠyou knowâŠDon't like other people putting sharp things in you."
"Wade," Logan sighed. The bolt on the door cachunked , and Logan spun, claws clicking out.Â
"Hallo! Please don't kill me." A furry blue hand slipped out the gap between the door and the wall and wiggled its fingers.
"Kurt, holy shit." The door swung open and Logan met Nightcrawler across the room. They shared a quick hug. "You haven't been at the mansion."Â
"Business to attend to." He leaned around Logan. "Good to properly meet you Wade. Bad circumstances." Logan turned. Wade had gone a bit slackjawed, thinking. He snapped back, grinning.
"Let's get the fuck out of here, huh?"
#####
I didn't like it. I didn't like him hugging the little blue man.Â
Wade, what the fuck is wrong with you? He's known them longer than you.Â
I guess technically not, because it's not actually the same Nightcrawler. But conceptually he has. Fucking hate this multiverse shit.Â
Just need to get my hands on him to feel better.
Get my fingers in his flesh.
The Blackbird might have swooped in to save them, but the team wasn't actually done with whatever weird little diplomatic mission they were on. Wade had been told that if he left the plane he would suffer dire consequences. Logan could join them if he wanted.
He didn't.
Suck my dick, X-Men. Logan keeps choosing me.Â
Why am I in goddamn competition with the entire X-Men?
"Wade, you stopped talking." They were in the cargo hold. Logan was doing arms and ammunition inventory. Wade was cleaning the rifles. It was something to keep them busy.Â
"You always tell me to shut up."
Logan turned sharply.Â
"Then I won't do that anymore. I don't actually like it when you're quiet for too long. It means you're upset about something." Logan moved across the cargo hold and dropped in front of him on the floor.Â
Wade put the rifle parts he was cleaning back in the bag and shoved them to the side. He opened his arms and that was the cue for Logan to crawl into his lap. He rolled forward over his knees and nestled his head into the pillow of Wade's crossed legs. Wade ran his fingers through Logan's bangs and combed them up over his crown.Â
"I'm still thinking about the bar thing and the torture chamber stuff. I'm not mad, though." Wade waved his hands a little to shake off that presumption. "Just trying to sort myself and why I felt the way I did. And I'm not quite there, yet. I'll get it together, eventually."Â
"I'm not stabbing any baristas."
"Just a little pokey poke if her hand lingers on mine and we share an unexpected moment?"
"I'll compromise by severing the ACL of the next waiter who laughs at your jokes just to get a bigger tip."
"Oh wait. No let them flirt for, like, one minute. Then crck. " He gestured across his throat with the back of his thumb. Logan chuckled, then his eyes flicked in thought.Â
"To be perfectly clear, I'm not actually going to do that. However, I will have a bigger reaction to you getting hit on, and I will include minor threats of violence if they're being handsy. If that's something that makes you feel good about yourself."Â
"Eh. I don't know why I'm making such a big deal about flirting in a bar, anyway. Not like it's a regular occurrence. Mach speed blobfish isn't exactly a look that gets a lot of play."
"Hey." Logan reached up and poked him hard in the cheeks. "What have I told you about insulting my boyfriend?"Â
"Self-deprecation is the foundation of my comedic genius, sugar bean. Take that from me, and I lose half my material."Â
He's so pretty like this. Deep, creased laugh lines. Little crinkle between his eyebrows. Long nose.Â
Wade ran his hands down Logan's jaw. Then he leaned down and kissed him upside down.Â
Spiderman style.
Wade pulled back just enough to talk.Â
"I don't actually need or even want you to protect me. You clearly need me to protect you, though."Â
"Oh, what makes you say that?" Logan reached up to peck him on the lips.
"I'm the one with a radio in my shoe."
"That they forced you to wear."
"That I was clever enough to actually wear when they told me to instead ofâŠnotâŠdoing thatâŠ" Wade ran his hands down Logan's chest, studying the place where he'd reattached his fingers only a few hours before. There was still a thin line as the flesh continued to knit itself together. He sat back up a little, drawing his hands back to Logan's temples.Â
"So neither of us want to carry the weight of the world," Wade said with a drifting hum. "But we worked together on that TimeSplitter motherfucker, and we saved all of reality." Logan curled his hand over the top of Wade's.
"And we did it holding hands." Logan brought Wade's hand to his lips and kissed his palm.
"Fucking gross. When did we get this disgustingly cute?"Â
Logan lifted his hands to catch the sides of Wade's head.Â
"I've always been cute, you just had to catch up." He pulled Wade down to kiss him. He broke the kiss too soon, and Wade was about to complain before Logan turned over on his knees. He moved Wade's legs to part around him. Â
Oh ?
Logan hooked his thumb around the zipper of Wade's jeans and drew it down.Â
Yep.
His lips pressed to Wade's bulge through his boxers. He nosed open the fly and brought Wade's cock into his mouth, tongue running small circles over the tip. Wade wove his fingers through Logan's hair, locking into place, steadying himself against Logan's rhythm.
Logan Logan Logan
The refrain started up like it always did, a rattle that snaked around his brain and wiped everything else away. When Logan was touching him, he stopped thinking. He just was . He just existed as body and sensation. As nerve endings and neurochemicals.
Words that were already stupid became more senseless, that part of his brain going on autopilot. Â
"Take me deeper, daddy."Â
God, why the fuck did I say that?
Logan obliged, though, pushing into him until Wade's cock was brushing the back of his throat. His fingers went tighter in Logan's half-curls.. Â
Sweet baby Jesus, this man is going to kill me.Â
#####
Wade's dick was rough, calloused like the rest of his skin. He loved it. Every time he put his mouth on Wade in some form or fashion, he fell a little more in love. In love with Wade's body. His form. In love with the pulse and beat of breath underneath.
Every time Wade talked, even when he spiraled out into nonsense, Logan found himself falling a little farther down into him. It was becoming harder and harder to imagine the version of himself that had hated him. That grew rabid with rage at his voice.Â
Now? He wanted to devour him. He had spent so many years suppressing his rage just for it to explode and destroy everything at the exact wrong moment. He'd spent every moment since then trying to prevent something like that from ever happening again. Even if it didn't mean anything. Even if it didn't matter. And he'd almost done it. He'd packed every emotion away into the deepest part of himself and drowned it so he'd never have to feel anything.Â
Then this motherfucker opened everything up again. And it became a tumult, emotions crashing over each other.Â
He tucked his hands up under Wade's shirt, pressing his thumbs into Wade's stomach as he took him deeper. All the way to the back of his throat. The friction of his jeans on his own erection was bringing him to a mini-climax as he ground on Wade's shin.Â
It rose like an ember, tensing his hands. Wade moved one hand out of his hair to touch his knuckles.Â
"Let the claws out if you want, peanut. No organs, please."
The double sensation of Wade in his mouth and the dry, half-orgasm was enough to overwhelm him after the day so far, and he lost control of himself before he could change his hand shape. The claws came out his palms, instead, digging into Wade's lovehandles.
It hurt like fuck, but Wade's shiver underneath him was worth it.Â
#####
And he might as well kill me now, because I'm already in heaven.
He clenched around the blades in his side, trying to focus on both the pinpricks of pain and the center of pleasure rising in his pelvis, wallowing in the combined rush of dopamine and endorphins.Â
There was the tiniest puff of sound somewhere toward the front of the jet. Through his haze of ecstasy, Wade found a way to focus his attention in that general direction.Â
Kurt.
He had realized what was happening mid pulling a bag down from the rack and froze. Wade lifted a finger to his lips and gestured violently with a throw of his head for him to leave. At the same time, Logan took a particularly long drag on him, drawing an absolutely unearthly sound out of Wade's body.Â
Kurt puffed out of existence.
That'll learn ya.Â
Fuck. Shit. Logan Logan
Distraction gone, his brain started shutting down again.Â
Logan Logan Logan
"Logan," he whispered, the sound barely forming around his lips. Logan pulled away, and Wade almost cried. Logan looked up at him through his lashes, keeping his lips barely half an inch away from the tip of Wade's cock. Â
"If you're going to say my name, say it properly instead of so quietly you think I can't hear you." He kissed the head. "Because I always do. Every time." He took him in again.
"Logan," Wade moaned. The moan turned to a whine as his stomach and pelvis went alight, his toes curling his shoes, tension breaking around his body. He came hard in Logan's mouth, pulling his face against his body until Logan's nose was touching where his pubic hair used to be.
He released his hands with a hard sigh and gasp, falling back against one of the bulkheads. Logan pulled back, cum and spit creating a bridge between Wade's cock and Logan's lips. He lifted up, pressing those messy lips to Wade'sÂ
"I need to do you," Wade panted into Logan's mouth.
"I'm fine," Logan said.Â
"Did you come in your pants, ground bear?" Wade grinned.Â
"No," Logan said, but there was a shade of embarrassment.Â
He totally did.
There was a clanging knock on the access hatch on the side into the cargo hold. Storm's voice followed.Â
"Entering the ship!"Â
"Good timing," Logan said, zipping up Wade's pants. "Imagine if they were just a few minutes earlier."
"Hahahah yeah."
Oops.
#####
Logan stood on the back porch, shirtless, letting Puppins out for her last romp of the night. The cherry red of his cigar burned out against the night sky and the glow of the mansion up the lawn.Â
No smoking indoors, and Wade didn't really like the smell. So he'd reduced the frequency considerably. The booze, too. He hadn't felt the need to drink nearly as often, but it was never going away completely. After the last few days, for example, a high quality scotch and a cigar did just the trick.Â
His phone buzzed on the side table, and he picked it up. It was Kurt. All Logan read was the word "Â Entschuldige"Â Â before his phone blew up with text messages from everyone on the team.Â
"Babe," he called back into the house. "Are emojis the same in this timeline?"Â
Wade drifted into the open doorway in just boxers and his off-brand Barbie hoodie that was printed off-center.Â
"What the fuck are you talking about, happy feet?"
Logan held up his phone to give him a better look.Â
"I just got a whole lot of text messages, but they're all just an eggplant, a knife, and a plane. I don't know what that means."
Wade's nostrils flared.Â
"Oh, I have another little German man to kill."
