What do you do with a feral dog?

First, you muzzle it. You slip a cage over that snapping mouth, put away the sharp teeth that threaten to tear at your hand. Perhaps you even file those fangs down. Maybe you put a bit in its mouth to silence its snarls.

After that, you clip its claws. The dog whines as someone holds it back, as you take a file and cutter to its paws. You hold its feet firmly. It's for its own good. You could hurt yourself, you say. You could hurt me, you don't say.

When the dog can't bite or snap or claw, you try to tame it. You teach it to lie at your feet and whimper for a bone a day and a pittance of affection. In exchange for a ratty blanket and a grudging allowance of bed and board, you teach it to guard your home and recognize your enemies. You reward its obeisance with a tightening muzzle and a shrinking plate.

At the end of it all, if the dog remains feral (or maybe it's only wild), you put a leash around its neck, a cage around its body, and walk into a clinic. When you walk out, you only have the leash and cage. Afterwards, you tell anyone who'll listen that you had no other choice. The dog was just too feral. How could you feel safe, with a dangerous beast sleeping at your door ? You couldn't save the dog from itself. If only it were small enough, or more eager to please. Maybe if its teeth were blunter.

This is the foundation on which all systems of oppression are built.

What is the oppressor thinking when he takes away your freedom of choice, of speech, of press? He isn't thinking that you might say something you can't take back. He's thinking that you might say something he can't take back. If you put your words in the right order, his empire and his wealth can fall away in a moment. If you tear off your muzzle and sharpen your claws, if you find a way to feed yourself and bolt out of the clinic on swift feet, he won't be able to remain your beloved master. When you find a way to hold yourself up, he has no more argument that you need his protection. His hollow power crumples like yellowing paper.

Dogs were wild animals once. They once lived under their own power in a free land, chasing rabbits and dipping their snouts in streams. Then they were taught to sleep near a fire and chase game they could not eat, then to eat from a mocking hand, the only portion their master saw fit to give.

And yet, in the dead of night, the people who call dogs pets still feel a shred of fear. Dogs who betray even a sliver of anger are fated for the clinic.

Just like dogs, the oppressors have tried to domesticate us. What are the slums, the finishing schools, the re-education camps, the ‘churches’ that preach hate, or even the classrooms that house our future, but nought more than a dog's rickety garden shed? What else, if not something to point at and enforce as a punishment for disobedience? Just like the dog, once a wild animal, there will always be some of us who bite at the hand that claims to feed us. They can never fully beat us down. One bright morning on some sunny day in time, we'll burst out of our muzzle and cages, and break down the doors of the clinic. Dogs were wild animals. At heart they'll always be feral.

Don't let their looks fool you, they are actually good parents. (Maybe "okay" parents, they did let Liv run away with her boyfriend they never met and his band at 15. (But she was responsible and called them to explain her decision and that she already talked with the school and will be taking special exams at the end of every semester, so it's all good lmao.))

In my AU the Techno/Rock Trolls are the largest population of mixed trolls. They live concentrated along the shore between the Rock and Techno Kingdoms and also extending north into the no-man's-land on the map. This whole area is simply referred to as "the Shallows". They have their own communities and villages there which are located partially on land or exposed reefs/rocks and partially in the water.

Liv grew up in one of those villages. Her parents own a small apartment carved into a cliff side above the ocean. Personally they prefer walking over floating/swimming, and they can't stay in the sun for too long either (they all inherited sun sensitive skin from their Techno sides) so this way they're mostly on land and also aren't in direct sunlight after noon.

It's a modest home but I imagine they must have the prettiest sunrises.

Despite the Shallows having their own communities they still belong under the Rock Kingdom which doesn't really care about them or their different needs much, so a lot of the trolls living there are very anti authority.

not everyone has the choice to just stop using a mobility aid that is causing them pain or injury and not everyone can modify their mobility aid to fully prevent pain and injury. not every mobility aid problem can be solved because the majority of us are not using a mobility aid by choice and the majority of us cannot just decide to walk unassisted.

thinking on ways to cause the blorbos more trauma, as usual, when it occurred to me... dying at the end of shadowbringers? really, truly saved their life.

i got to thinking. what if they hadn't died? what if elidibus had never taken their wings and dealt that fatal blow? all that pain and suffering they were carrying never would have found a release - would just keep mounting through post-shb, endwalker...

and the thing is, i don't think they'd snap, per se. it'd probably be more like a gradual realization: the world is broken, and people are going to keep breaking it - no amount of mercy or kindness will change this. but they have more than just mercy, and kindness. they have power - a lot of power, and it only grows greater with time.

they can change the world by force.

they have to.

hey punk tumblr community, if i were to make and sell jacket and vest bases (dyeing colors, bleaching or painting designs), diy patches, and diy wallet chains, would there be a market?

ive thought about it before but not reallt seriously and rn i could really use the extra money bc my dads in the hospital and the bill is gonna be pretty bad since he didnt have insurance and is only now signing up for medicaid, and hes self employed.

i have under 1k in my bank account atm (ive been trying to save up to move out of my grandparents basement) so im hoping the extra cash from this could help out some? we'll also probably end up setting up a gofundme but that wont be until after we see the final bill.

basically, is this market here? whats better to sell on, etsy, ebay? i cant use marketplace i dont use facebook. depop? idk ive never done this before.

heres some examples of what i can do (slightly outdated, the spine looks better now but i cant take a new pic bc im sitting in the hospital now)

i could do custom patches too, some simple embroidery, custom back patches if you give me a ref image to work from.
