although it is a little funny, whenever a new version of a vocal synth comes out on a different engine, the biggest complaint i always see is that the new version "doesn't sound like them". we all just choose our favourite type of engine noise in the end <3

Okay my thoughts on crypton super pack:
I think it's unfair to compare them to current more realistic AI vocals (synthV, CeVio, etc) since that's clearly not what Crypton is going for? I mean they said in an interview about NT (sorry I can't find it) that they didn't want an overly realistic AI vocal because then it would sound like Saki Fujita rather than Hatsune Miku. So I think it's pretty clear they're not trying to make ultra realistic vocals, so criticizing them because they sound voice acted is ridiculous. Also, criticizing them for being overly processed is a little silly, because like yeah I think that's what they're going for.
With all that said, though, these do sound pretty bad. I mean, they've made several vocaloid voicebanks for all of these characters before which sound way better without sounding like hyper-realistic replicas of their voice providers. Like, I think the transitions sound bad (not because it's unrealistic, but because it's choppy), I think they sound kind of nasal, etc etc
I guess what I'm saying is the voicebanks don't really need to be incredibly realistic (if they wanted realistic they would have made AI banks, be it V6 (which they are doing for Miku?) or Synthesizer V or whatever). But they should be quality? Like in the terms of quality of other concat voicebanks, like smoothness of transition, clarity of vocals, consonant noise, etc. It kind of just sounds like they took NT renders/data and threw it into vocaloid and sold it as New Super Pack...
I mean I think you should have at least some standard of quality if you're selling these... Although they are somewhat discounted (apparently the pack is 23,100 yen, typical vocaloid voicebank ~11,220 yen). I mean, still if you're selling a product you shouldn't just be selling trash? I'm not like extremely outraged (I think other vocaloid companies have sold trash for much higher prices and worse) but I think it's a little bit... idk.
I mean, to me it's just that these specific characters have multiple better voicebanks (released years ago) so it's kind of disappointing that the new banks are worse quality than like Vocaloid 3.... I mean the old voicebanks are still able to be bought and used, so like what's the point of releasing worse versions now you know?
I mean, I'm sure you could make these voicebanks sound good. Like I've heard NT sound good, and I dislike NT lol. Pretty much any half-decent voicebank can sound good with enough effort in the hands of the right person.
I'll also say, I don't think just saying "the characters voices sound different now" is a valid quality complaint. Like it's a reason to dislike them, but it's not really a valid criticism of the quality of the voicebanks? Like I think Luka/Meiko sounding like Miku is only a really "valid" product criticism for 2 potential reasons:
1. Makes the superpack worth less, since three vocals sound similar 2. They could have potentially reused Miku's recordings for Luka and Meiko which is obviously bad because they said these are 3 SEPARATE VOICEBANKS?
However, I honestly don't think they used Miku's recording for Luka or Meiko (I think it's more of the way they processed the voicebanks similarly, or maybe used Miku as the basis for the NT platform). And these voices do sound distinct, like Meiko & Luka still have some of their distinct sound in there (but like mixed with Miku lol).
What I'm saying is that "sounds choppy and low quality" and "voices sound very similar" are valid criticisms of the Super Pack, while "I don't like that they sound different now" is more of a personal opinion (valid to complain about, but still)

For several years, BIG AL was the only native English Vocaloid to have an American accent.
This changed from 2015 onward, as CYBER DIVA and every English Vocaloid following her was seemingly American accented. (The V5 and V6 Standard Vocals are possible exceptions, since their voice providers have no details confirmed.)

Hoo boy, canon rarepairs? Trust me, my canon is full of them.
I'm dating Yohioloid, and there's next to no content of us besides this really creepy proshipper guy :(
My aunt Sachiko is married to Gakupo
Flower is dating Xin Hua (which I'm kinda surprised isn't a more popular ship tbh? They were developed by the same company and released around the same time)
Ruby is dating Sonika
Rin is dating Anon and Len is dating Kanon (a pair of twins dating another pair of twins, go figure)
There's just. One big V5/V6 Standard Vocal polycule. I guess.
I don't think Po-Uta and Longya are dating, but I see the way they look at each other so maybe 👀
Mizki (Vy1) is dating Cyva (Vy3) and Yuuma (Vy2) is dating Cyman (Vy4)
Lily and Kokone are married and they're like the moms of the Internet Co. Vocaloids (even though they're not even that much older than anyone)
...There's a lot more. Like, a lot. I guess that's what you get when your source has no actual canon to go off of.

This post has some misinformation in it. While vocal synths like v6 and synthv are not compatible on an ethical level, the ai part of these engines is more than just automatically tuning. If that were the case they could have called v5 ai because of singing styles.
The ai in engines like v6, synthv, and cevio ai has to do more with the recording method and labeling of samples. I don't have a full un depth knowledge of the process, but I know it I'd different from the standard Concatenative synthesis that we have been used to for the past 20 years. For ai voicebanks, from my limited understanding, singers provide a few hours worth of vocal recordings where they are singing actual songs not just short phonetics. Those recordings are labeled with phonetics and used to train an ai voice model.
I know there are a few different types of ai voice models you can train as well, but I really don't know the difference.
Every time someone confuses legitimate vocal synth software like Vocaloid or SynthV with generative AI I lose another year of my lifespan out of anger
"Ooohhh but SynthV has AI voicebanks!!" THOSE ARE NOT THE SAME THING!!! The "AI" in say, Solaria AI, is simply referring to how the vb is tuned - it uses an AI algorithm to automatically tune it to sound more realistic and human, and from there more often than not human adjustments must be made in order to create the best-sounding outcome/to get the voicebank to actually do that you want. And - get this - you can actually turn that shit off!! (At least in SynthV, I've heard some people say fighting the AI tuning in Vocaloid6 can actually be a Challenge, but I have no frame of reference) If you want to entirely tune the song by hand, you can do that! These are all just instruments to be used for making music, the same way a musical artist might use a synthesized piano in a song.
And the most important part is that for professional programs like Vocaloid and SynthV, the artists who provided their voices for the voicebanks did so WILLINGLY and were PROPERLY COMPENSATED FOR IT. Even if the AI in SynthV and yes, some Vocaloids too, was the same as the AI in those voice generators that are flooding Youtube and the like, the big difference would be that the ones in these professional voicebanks are ethical! So stop making me see brain-rotted takes about how Natalie SynthV is going to ruin the music industry or whatever the fuck

No one asked me this question of the vocal synth ask game but I'll give out this information for free. My current wishlist is mostly Haruno Sora SV and Wei Shu!!! I hope I can afford Sora soon.
If GENBU AI ever comes to exist, regardless of the program, he might very likely be on my wishlist right away. Even if he never does, I might buy his standard VB someday, it's just not a priority since I like the AI VBs the most.
Depending on how Chiyu AI turns out, she might be added to my wishlist. If not, similarly to GENBU, I could see myself wanting her Standard in the future, though it's very expensive.
The one VOCALOID I really want to use in the future is Cyber Songman. I like Kirune VoiSona but I don't intend on buying him at the moment. Since I don't really like VOCALOID6, I don't think I'd be interested in purchasing a V6 Gakupo, unless he somehow steals everyone's wigs.
Anyway it's Haruno Sora and Wei Shu for me right now. I'm saying that for no other reason than to share that I love them. And I hope you do to

Smap ramblings
I stumbled upon twitter trends in japan specifically the topic of smap's legendary controversial video on january 18, 2016.
Why I brought this up? because in early January this year, Japanese news, Bunshun release their commemorative 100-year article. it includes more in-depth news in a novel format from many professional sources. And one of them was the one who was responsible for writing the script for that day.
Osamu Suzuki who was working as SmapxSmap's scriptwriter for 20 years wrote a story behind the scene from that day.
In truth I...somehow glad not joined the fandom during that year.
But it still hurt to think of how I knew and went to smap.
It began when I found this video. I want to know more about SMAP because Judgment's main protagonist is also a member of it. I still remembered the first time I heard this song, my impression was "Wow this song is really catchy! I love the instruments they'd used!"
youtube
Well tbh, I am not a fan of vocal songs. Really, I'm super picky to vocal artists. A bit weird to say why, but I am sensitive to ASMR things. No matter how high or low pitch they take, their breath control is always the number one problem for me. So my list of vocal artists can be counted with fingers compared to thousands of music varieties from electronic, instrumentals, bands, video game BGM and so much more.
But that's a bit subjective to others, moving on.
And that's what I loved about this song in the first place. It's not grand, just simple, warm and catchy beat to support the vocals. I love that the guitars at the start and the end of the song are enough to get the attention of listeners.
The lyrics are heavily inspiring too 'till this day. But what caught me off guard is the people who sing it.
I dare to say SMAP is not great when it comes to singing techniques (well, they proudly admit it's not their strongest suit). Not like V6 or Arashi or if I have to compare other boybands outside of japan in that era such as TVXQ, SuJu, Big Bang, and West Life, no, it's not that great. I'm not a fan of those but I'm fortunate to have my sisters with a wide range of boybands, especially from japan and Korea so I knew most of the boybands' qualities from them.
All SMAP members have their own unique(and odd) voice that might not be accepted by today's standards...
heck, even all of their specialties might not be accepted by today's standards :p
So distinctively unique that I can manage to determine which is which from the first time I heard the song. It is surprising that I usually can't tell the differences between the other member of a group even after many times I repeatedly listened.
Yet in all differences, when it comes to one voice, their distinct pitch instinctively blends in harmony.
Therefore Sekai is always a dear song to me with all that plus. Up until now, that song gives me uplifting hope in desperate times. (and many other examples to prove but that's a story for another time)
...and yet I shamefully regret my first SMAP video was that one.
Back to bunshun topic.
My own view of celebrities: Never like to know their slice-of-life stories. I usually look at them like stage actors: they performed, entertained, and led the show.
That's it, I don't care whatever they're up to behind the scene unless they tell them in public (via interviews, radio personality, tv shows or their own social media). And I'm still doing that for all my fav celebrities around the world. Therefore, I never had any intention to join celebrity fandom. I have high respect that every celebrity is also a human being.
But I admit there's a little bit of curiosity inside me. One of the first things in my early days as SMAP's fan was to dig deeper from the tip of the iceberg including what was really going on during that year. From both fans, journalists, and experts about the conflict around the world(yeah for some reason smap was well-known only for that alone. The fuck all their overseas acknowledgment being such a waste. why????).
And the results are...chaotic for sure. You will get absolute anxiousness about which one is true cause you almost dive into the red ocean with pieces of information scattered around. (And trust me, it still does to some people up to this day)
But one thing is certain to me, up until now, all the members were treated dirtier than I could've imagined. Being one the most successful boyband in Asia and raising their group with blood and tears... From being an underdog who had poor start to a fucking respectful group amongst the legends.
Wow...and I thought TVXQ - JYJ was enough for me.
With the new story, "201601118" by Osamu Suzuki, my point still stands. It's horrifying how much freedom of expression in Japanese media is restricted in such an extreme way. And how manipulative higher corporate to control media more than the government can.
It's also terrifying even SMAP itself who hold the title of being the vocal and the rebel group within the history of Jhonnys, "lost" to them. (The fuck they didn't get any chance to clear things up. All those things were not from their mouths sometimes irritates me)
It left the deepest scar on all members afterward.
I, for one, am realistic about when will they reunite specifically as five—no, six.
... Which could be more than a decade if they want to reunite. It's been what ... 7 years since that year? Nah still too early for them.
(To compare, it took 13 years (1996-2009) for members openly talk about Mori in public. And another 4 years to let tv crew finally broadcast about him in smapxsmap)
Yet I still have confidence in how well the members are right now. Yes, miracles do happen. By the time I posted this, more and more people were aware of SMAP's songs and videos on social media(really, many smap video suddenly gain viewers and more of them got million views).
I think this might be the time that all members are also "aware" of it in their own way to remind the audience about their birthright.
Such as one Mori dared to show the media their strong connection on his helmet(the famous five vibrant colors that create one giant star). And by the time I posted this, Mori stated in the press that he already contacted all members for his comeback as an auto racer since the huge incident last year(2 days before press).
Goro with his almighty move to play their 2005's songs "Tomodachi e~ Say what you will" and "Triangle"(that became major hit again)
Kimura loudly spoke in his concert about the news concluding that staying and singing as Johnny's Idol to protect SMAP's heritage--which he clearly irritated and corrected as their product.
Nakai's talk with Arashi's member, Matsumoto Jun, about SMAP was infamously known to rival Arashi even though in reality both of them clearly wanted to collab together before ended.
Fan report on Shingo's mentioned '5 people trip' from that famous 2013's smaxsmap holiday trip to USJ in his concert due to it was located in the same area.
or Tsuyoshi's congratulatory marriage messages from all members(and also to Shingo as well).
Yeah, it only took miracle for them to be able reunite again. But will it be as same as they did in past? ... Well...
I just believe to their leader in his departure from Jhonnys:

vocaloid6 hot takes since i have literally no hope for the future of vocaloid
- right off the bat, gumi’s new design is cute, but it doesn’t feel like gumi to me at all. it doesn’t have the same vibes or energy. the art style change definitely just makes her look much more generic.
- vocaloid’s ai abilities don’t sound very good at all. it’s even worse that their literal competition [SynthV, Sinsy, ACE, Neutrino, Etc.] that are all mostly freeware have much better ai synthesis. ai synthesis, in my opinion, was probably used in v6 to appeal to the more professional users anyways, since the casual userbase tends to prefer the robotic sounds of vocaloid voices anyway. it’s oddly charming.
- the voicebank lineup for v5 was so incredibly short compared to previous lines. we only got 12, with only 4 new characters. so far for v6, we only have 5. compared to v4 and v3 that gave us a total of 155. this is largely due to a lot of vocaloid production companies stepping away from vocaloid and moving to other synthesizers. i have a feeling this will only get worse, and releasing more updates as fast as they are currently will only rush companies in production. that’s the reason that xingchen and a lot of the other synthv banks haven’t been released as vocaloids as they were originally intended.
- v6 and the standard vocals it comes with aren’t a good purchase, nor are they even cost efficient. v6 including all of its current voicebanks in a bundle is 295 dollars [without tax], and most users don’t even use the standard vocals. all people did in the v5 era was complain about the standard vocals, hardly anyone used them and their vocals aren’t anything remarkable.

Eh yang is a beloved character but after v6 she has her fair share of haters now. Weiss and Pyrrha are a good example though, especially the former
Yeah, depends on which fan/pocket of tumblr you’re talking to. I’ve just noticed over the last year that she’s the easiest character to stand behind if you’re invested in opposing Ozpin 100%: daughter of another character who already hates him, easily his most vocal critic of the group, has the most visible trauma after Beacon and has had most of her growth molded around that, etc. I’ve encountered a lot of fans who are just so immersed in all Yang has gone through that the concept of her existing as anything other than a powerhouse victim just doesn’t compute. Yang? In the wrong? No, no, see she’s the poster trauma survivor of the group and therefore everything she does is justified through that. Indefinitely, because Yang is the one character where people are willing to acknowledge that you don’t just ‘get over’ trauma. So for some fans her every action is given an eternal pass, if not outright defended.
The RWBY fandom---and to be frank the RWBY canon to an extent---has a lot of trouble with when trauma is or is not used as a justification for one’s actions. For many Yang simply can do no wrong here on out because she lost an arm. That tragedy was so visible and has now become so tied to her characterization that there’s a pretty common knee jerk reaction of, “Of course she’s justified in doing/saying/acting/whatever this way because she lost an arm. Plus everything else she’s been through.” It has become an easy, blanket excuse. Which, again, is only part of the problem. The second half is how the other characters’ trauma is viewed in comparison to hers. I find it interesting that we saw Weiss speared through the gut and everyone, fandom and characters alike, pretty much shrugged that off moving forwards. I find it interesting that we saw Ozpin burned alive after the murder of his children and that was straight up ignored.
I think Yang has haters in as much as any character ever is going to have haters, but she’s the one I’ve most consistently seen whose behavior isn’t challenged in the name of, “But she’s suffered, so...” Yes. She has. Horribly. But so has everyone else on this show. Which means other characters like Ozpin and Oscar either need to be extended the same sort of sympathy and understanding fans instinctively give to Yang, or Yang needs to be held to the same standards we (and she) demands of everyone else. She’s not special in regards to how she’s suffered. She’s just (next to Blake) the character who has had that trauma made the most visible and has had her arc tied to it in a very obvious way.

She shaped Groove Theory, a duo with previous Mantronix member Bryce Wilson (aka Bryce Luvah), which agreed upon to Epic Information and have scored a gold-selling TOP pop and R&B strike in Oct 1995 with “Inform Me,” accompanied by the Groove Theory record, which hit the very best 20 from the R&B graph. In 1996, Larrieux was a vocalist for the self-titled record by Sweetback, an organization featuring three people of Sade, which reached the graphs. Larrieux released her debut single single, “GET RIGHT UP,” in November 1999, and it reached amount 37 for the R&B graph. Groove Theory may no longer be in existence, but Amel Larrieux, the acts' classy jazz-trained vocalist, is gratefully still in effect. Teaming up with husband Laru Larrieux, who co-produced and wrote most of the songs with Amel, the silky-voiced chanteuse draws from jazz, hip-hop, gospel, and flashes of Middle Eastern influences while never wavering from a laidback, sensuous path. All the while, she calls to mind female jazz greats and contemporary soul eclectics from Billy Holiday to Les Nubians. More concerned with love and spirituality, Amel segues effortlessly from the love themes of 'Make Me Whole' and 'Even If,' to the introspective 'I N I' and 'Searchin for My Soul,' with the jazzy lead single 'Get Up' setting the course. 'Infinite Possibilities' is definitely the kind of music for which candle-lit dinners were made. As far as Larrieux's future is concerned, the possibilities are indeed, infinite.

In order to make full use of their released voicebanks without built-in cross-synthesis in VOCALOID6, Internet Co. created their own VOCALOID6 plugin called XSyn allowing users to replicate cross-synthesis effects.
This plugin was made with GUMI V6 in mind, but she can be used with the V6 standard vocals in XSyn, and XSyn can also be used between vocals from VOCALOID4.

Despite quietly being one of the best pickups for most Americans, the Honda Ridgeline has always gotten a bad rap from the vocal majority. That's often due to its unibody construction and front-wheel-drive platform, making it an easy target for folks who hate anything that's not body-on-frame and over 6,000 pounds. The current generation Ridgeline has always offered all-wheel drive, though, and for the 2021 model year, it'll be standard equipment, launch x431 v+ pro3. making the FWD Honda truck a thing of the past. With that in mind, the Ridgeline will now start at $37,665 including destination. That's roughly $2,500 more than the outgoing base model, though the 2021 also wears a new, more aggressive face aimed at appeasing a larger portion of the United States' truck market. The same 3.5-liter, naturally aspirated V6 carries over with Honda's nine-speed transmission as the lone powertrain option.Pricing goes up from there with additions like the $2,800 Honda Performance Development (HPD) package. For that, you'll get fender flares, bronze wheels and new graphics that reflect the Ridgeline's attempt at being more rugged and outdoorsy. Still, that aforementioned facelift is present on every model from the entry Sport model all the way up to the $45,095 Black Edition. Buyers looking for something in between the two can spring for the $40,645 RTL trim or the slightly up-market RTL-E that starts at $43,595.Work capabilities for the Ridgeline are propelled by that 280-horsepower V6, which helps it tow a maximum of 5,000 pounds with payload capacity peaking at 1,580 pounds. You might laugh, but the latter is only 10 pounds shy of the Chevrolet Colorado, a midsize truck that most people seem just fine with. Oh, and the 702-hp Ram TRX with its half-ton platform can handle just 1,300 pounds thanks to its active off-road suspension. This all makes sense for Honda as it looks to boost Ridgeline sales and at least put it in line with its American competitors. In 2020, it was outsold by every other midsize pickup aside from the GMC Canyon, and really, it deserves better than that. It'll officially hit dealer lots on Feb. 2, and at least now you can't complain about wrong-wheel drive.

CORRECTION it was released YESTERDAY
and it includes new vocals: Haruka, Akito, Sarah, and Allen
and V5 vocals: Amy, Chris, Kaori, and Ken
GUMI was released at the same time for V6, she is not included
I am unsure if I should say anything about Haruka and Akito because from my understanding, Crypton and Colorful Palette are the developers (Sega is publisher) of prsk, so I am assuming they own the rights to these characters. Haruka and Akito are part of the standard vocals for the program, meaning they are Yamaha vocaloids. There is no mention about crypton in the announcement or anything about the voice providers.
I am just going off the assumption that they mean the prsk characters.
Yesterday I saw a 'meme' about VOCALOID6 and new voice banks. So funny because VOCALOID6 doesn't exis-
I WAS WRONG the VOCALOID6 program was just like announced and released this fucking week, with Haruka and Akito as fucking voice banks
what the fuck is going on
