The fire had consumed everything in its path. The whole of King’s Landing was burning and the smoke seemed to choke the light of the sun. Rhaenyra was walking among the ruins of the Red Keep when she saw an object on the ground. She knelt slowly and retrieved it. It was Aegon’s dagger. The same her father had worn. From my line shall come the Prince that was promised, she read, and yet at the last word she felt as if someone were stabbing her repeatedly. “Stop!” she screamed and opened her eyes.

A thunder storm was raging outside of Dragonstone and the winds were howling. In the darkness, the queen could hear the rain lashing against the windows.

She lit a candle next to her bed and raised herself. The large damask canopy with its curtains hid her form well, but it reminded her of the flames that she dreamed of every night. Flames that consumed and gave birth, flames that were as much a part of her house’s history as the blood that flowed through her veins.

Rhaenyra glanced at the embroidered three headed dragon above her head. It had been sewn with the finest Myrish threads and made to look as if it could take flight at any moment.

As she thought about the remarkable details, she heard a noise somewhere in her room. Quickly, Rhaenyra rose from the bed and grabbed a dagger. “Who goes there?” she called into the darkness. “Show yourself.”

one thing i am really noticing on this rewatch is how long it takes for silver to start looking like silver. seeing him in (especially in the early part of) s1 always feels so jarring to me idk why but with everyone else already having their Look down (character driven style pivots of flint and eleanor nonwithstanding) he still feels very Unformed.

idk if thats just me on my nth rewatch projecting my foregone conclusions and opinions abt him as a character on him but i do think even w the change he undergoes being a very gradual one (unlike the previously mentioned pivot of eleanor from Pirate Boss to Ladywife or flints buzzcut of grief and political radicalisation), there is a definitive period where he is not yet locked in, so to speak.

i think what gets me as 'not silver yet' is him being clean shaven and that he wears light colours but genuinely. thats a chameleon still deciding which colour to turn while it watches the room and once hes decided with whom to side he commits not only to a 'personality' but also to a wardrobe style which in his case is first unassuming dark clothes and growing his hair and beard and then slowly bit by bit hes adding details like necklaces and rings and starts wearing his hair differently etc until he ends in his Coat Era once he starts to assume real power as he begins the transformation from 'john silver' into 'long john silver'

Rhaenyra near stood near the Painted Table and glanced down at the place marker for Harrenhal. The smallfolk said that the castle was cursed because it had been built out of bones and blood, but the queen refused to believe such tales in her younger years. Now, after Ser Harwin’s death, she believed that her ancestors should have burned the entirety of this cursed castle to the ground so that no man could call himself its lord.

Rhaenyra knew that her husband would go there now, but she felt heartsick at the prospect. 

“I fear for you, husband,” she said glancing at Daemon sadly. “Terrible fates await those who make their homes in that place.”

I don't know whether to laugh at or be annoyed when some green stans complain about black stans saying Egg and his family are descended from Rhaenyra and Daemon. Maybe it's greens' anxiety and jealousy, perhaps? (Since we don't have confirmation on the fate of Alys and Almond's son unlike with Daemyra's lineage.) It's already bad enough that Daeron Tentgaryen stans invade the A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms tag to "worry" about Dunk & Egg Daeron "replacing" Daeron the war criminal. Even though the greens are long dead by Dunk and Egg's time.

Oh, it’s definitely jealousy. Rhaenyra’s children surviving and becoming the ancestors of all the coolest ASOIAF characters is a better victory than what Aegon gets. That’s why you see Greenies make up theories about Alys Rivers’ bastard being an ancestor of the Stark, or Jaehaera surviving to be the mother of Aegon IIIs children. They have nothing, no future generations for them to stan and continue on their faves legacy. It’s just a cope.

And I hope so so much for Daeron the Drunken to absolutely crowd out the Daeron Targaryen tag. Ya know why? Because when you type “Aegon V Targaryen” or “Aegon III Targaryen” on any social media that isn’t Tumblr, you get nothing but tons and tons of content for Aegon II. It’s about time it worked the other way.

team neutral and idont like/care for 90% of team black but ill defend rhaenyra with a gun so i identify with them ig
