“I trust you.” ( from yuffie )
Blue eyes glinted with affection and mischief. "I think you're going to like this." He understood her apprehension, and his trust meant a lot to her, so when Obi-Wan had said 'I will use the Force to catapult you through the air', he meant exactly that. He had seen how Yuffie sailed through the air on her own, all he had to do was give her a little push to make her fly even further. "When you land on the tower, push the button and open the gate. And voilá, we're inside."

It was obvious to him that she deemed him crazy. Obi-Wan smiled at her. Despite her believing he was ill-informed, she still offered her assistance. It must be concern and kindness, and that for a complete stranger. "I would have found the way eventually," he teased, referring to how the intense boiling pot in the Force would have been easy to find for him. "And I'll be careful, truly. I'm just here to measure."
The planet being angry was a very nice metaphor. With the mako being harvested at an alarming pace, the Force was unbalanced on this planet. No wonder that the wildlife was in constant unrest and had evolved to concerning new variations. Obi-Wan would bet that a human staying too close to a reactor would eventually turn feral too.
Obi-Wan would like to find out who this mysterious Shinra Corporation was, what they used the mako for and how this whole process may affect the Force as a whole. The last point may be a goal too lofty. He was only one man and the galaxy was vast. There would be no way to compare the measurements in all of space. But Obi-Wan's scholarly enthusiasm was certainly roused.
"If it's that dangerous then you shouldn't come," Obi-Wan mused. "But to have a capable tour guide like you with me would be invaluable." Obi-Wan had been the girl's age before. He knew having a choice was better than adults just deciding over their heads. He had given her his opinion, but ultimately it was her choice. "I would accept your offer."
Surprisingly, she didn’t take much heed for him, she was busy turning on the spot as she threw her weapon up in the air just to catch it again, a hum of a punchy melody from her as she spent a moment just appreciating how good that shot had been before she could move on. Though she couldn’t quite figure out why he felt so…off? Was that the right word? Yuffie didn’t even know what felt not-right, she had never really been one for figuring things out immediately but whatever it was, didn’t feel bad. Instead it was oddly calming, which was a rarity in this world, how odd.
“Do you even know the way?” She was suspecting he knew less than he was leading on, which made her annoyed, mostly because her conscience wasn’t about to let her just leave him to walk off into such danger unaware. Instead, her gaze flickered towards the reactor above them, a soft frown on her face for a moment. “You sure? You really wanna go up there?” Of course Yuffie had no reservations about going up there, but then again, Yuffie liked the danger in some way. Most people wouldn’t go near it. “Mako poisoning is no joke, if you spend too long up there you won’t come back down,” the information is delivered as casually as Yuffie could do, as if such horror stories were entirely the norm around these monstrosities.
Why? Oh, that was an easy question. For a moment that childish exuberance faltered. Something more serious crossed her face before she managed to cover it up. Tilting her head to the side Yuffie examined him, trying to figure out if he was dumb, or playing dumb. She decided to go with the benefit of the doubt, and state the obvious. “Because the planet angry.” A very simple answer for complex circumstances. Shinra had set out to harvest as much energy to power the industrial machine of the modern world. Burrowing below the world's surface, the living of the past were the thing that now powered your toaster and car. Except it came at a cost, in the air, in the environment, the direct human costs, and to the planet. One day it was going to take them all. It gave the fight against Shinra some kind of urgency it had never had before.
A sigh left her as he shoulders sagged forward, “if you’re really determined to go up there, then you shouldn’t go alone, you do that people wont even known to come find you.”

Bustling bars were places Obi-Wan used to frequent occasionally when he had still been younger. As a Master to a Padawan, he had gotten too busy and had frankly also lost the need to go and drink with random strangers. But since he was already here and Anakin was well taken care of, he might as well try to have a nice evening.
He wormed his way over to the counter and settled on an empty stool. Not familiar with any of this planet's drinks, Obi-Wan studied the menu and then ordered something that sounded like it could be similar to drinks he knew he enjoyed.
As the bartender mixed his drink, Obi-Wan extended his senses and read the establishment's patrons. He felt lust coming from those who were here to find a lover and joy from those who were here with friends. He also felt sadness and grief from those who were drinking their concerns away. All of these were very relatable feelings, especially in a bar, but something was off.
Sitting a few empty stools next to him was a young blond man. He felt..complicated. If Obi-Wan didn't know any better, he felt like two people at the same time. There was great conflict in him, boiling like unstable lava. It was none of his business, and yet Obi-Wan couldn't quell his need of wanting to help the man. At the very least Obi-Wan could help him put a name to his emotions.
When the bartender handed him his drink, Obi-Wan got off his stool and moved to sit next to the blond man. "Hello there," Obi-Wan smiled. "Since the seat next to you was empty, I took the liberty of moving over to you. I hope that's alright with you?"

Her enthusiasm and her praise of him made him grin. "I do try." That Yuffie was utterly ensnared by materia and anything that had to do with them was something Obi-Wan had learned rather quickly. He listened to her explanations, his brow furrowed in concentration.
It was all truly fascinating. Materia sounded to him like very flexible armor or an enhancing drug. This made sense so far, but added to that was the understanding that on this planet the elements behaved in ways Obi-Wan deemed unusual. "Pardon me, did you just say you can summon elements?" Yuffie was truly a very bubble enigma. "So doing so without materia is even possible? Why is the materia needed then? For better control?"
And there was something else that interested him greatly. "I can see how all these functions are all very useful in combat. Are there any day-to-day uses for materia outside of it? Perhaps construction workers shielding themselves from hazard with a protective materia?" He felt reminded of the various Jedi Service Corps that used the Force for their various tasks but were not necessarily using it to fight.
He was a fast learner, Yuffie was impressed. A bright smile spread across her face, “yeah dude!” It was always a nice surprise to see someone who could handle it properly, maybe she had been too fast to make a judgement? It wouldn’t have been the first time. Though, he managed to ingratiate himself even more so by asking questions. Oh. Yuffie could have got up on a box and spoke for hours about materia. Sure she was a little obsessed with it, but it was one of the only subjects she’d willingly read about.
A small nod of her head, “something like that, green is usually some form of magic, everything from healing to subversion or elements,” with that she reached for her weapon, the large shuriken just about came up to her own waist when she let the point rest on the ground, but she had little problems wielding it. “There’s a bunch of different ones, and they can all cooperate so blue materia is like…” she was trying to find a way to explain it in simple language, “supportive materia. So this one fuses a weapon with elemental magic, so you pair it with fire for example and you can wield a blade coated in fire. I prefer wind though…” for some reason the power of the wind felt very her, an element she had a natural affinity with.
Glancing down at her weapon, mostly purple materia slotted into the crossbar of the shuriken along with a speckle of paired blue and green. “Purple materia confer…enhancements. So it can help you focus so you can be faster. It’s kinda hard to explain without you experiencing it, but it is like…” drifting off for a moment, she needed to think again. “Like something is helping you. Like...you're not actually fighting by yourself, even if you are.” There was no other way to explain it…at least for her.
“People will do all kinds of things for materia…but few of them can use it properly. The few who can, usually can use some form of elemental magic without it, or are skilled in combat.” Yuffie just happened to be both. “My master wouldn’t let me touch materia until I could summon elements by myself, I was mad for years about it.” Seething at points, but it had worked out for the best. The man had known what he was doing it seemed. “Some materials are even protective,” holding her arm out she turned her wrist over, exposing the Wutaian bangle on her wrist. “Some use it to ward off effects. I guess materia is only really limited by its user…”
#evcryopeneye#v: gaia#yuffie whipping out the powerpoint presentation about materia and obi-wan is all ooooh

Type: Plot Progression Universe: Enlightened Darkness Location: The Rolling Sands (Shamar Desert)
He knew this feeling....sand drifted across the barren landscape, the sun beating down its impossible heat upon an unwilling, scorched earth. The clear blue sky was nearly mocking in its appearance- almost as if it were looking at any wandering, wayward souls with a smirk, whispering 'weakling'.
There were cities in this barren place, of course- some dared to be built out in the open, a testament to sentient life and the stubbornness of all of Mobius- while some were built in the darkness, in the mountainous rocks that cut up from the crust. But between these monuments of survival- of life- two sets of footprints came to a standstill.
Silence brewed in that moment- so loud that it seemed even the sands flowing on the wind quieted themselves.
"....Dark...?" His voice nearly echoed, a single word- not the full name- spoken...and yet he could swear he felt the grains beneath his sandals tremble.
"...and here I was, thinking you wouldn't recognize me, Mephiles..." He flinched. Tenebrosity's tail flicked, the pink tuft at the end somehow cutting a gash in the sand. Light splashed into Mephiles' eye, causing him to grunt and pull back...just before Ten moved a foot over the freshly-formed glass. "...I go by Tenebrosity these days, though...please, call me Ten."
Mephiles exhaled, his eyes slowly sliding from Tenebrosity's new appearance to her eyes. She had taken on distinctly lizard-esque qualities- with dark, nearly black, purple scales that faded into a distinct light blue at her hands and feet. She still sported those six arms she seemed to like so much in her true form, and her eyes...they faintly glowed with a hidden light. That ring on her tail...was it...?
He shook his head.
"...and I, Murk..." Tenebrosity couldn't help but chuckle.
"Who would ever think..." The most powerful beings on all of Mobius...but they had both selected this path- as the two seemed to have a habit of doing, whether by choice or not.
She shifted a step closer- keeping a forever-eye on the pseudo-hedgehog. Murk looked vaguely like his true self, but...the mouth was pretty new- as were the pants and sandals...another small chuckle.
"What are you doing here, D----....Tenebrosity?" Well...that was a question she supposed made sense. Murk watched as his acquaintence's expression darkened- her tail going still, the light in her horns flickering.
"...making amends, though meeting you...was unexpected. Have you decided to attempt to destroy this world of mine?" She could feel it, the growing unease- flickering in the air, echoing out as fear echoed in the depths of Murk's heart. What did he have to fear? Surely he wasn't--- "...wait...you...?"
"𐌍𐌄ᕓ𐌄𐌓 𐌀Ᏽ𐌀𐌉𐌍…" Her head tilted. Something in the atmosphere shifted- a weight that had begun to press on the pseudo-hog instantly lifting. Tenebrosity donned a faint smile, lips curving upwards.
"...I'm glad to hear it." And she was sure that Chip would be elated- if he could see this conversation. "But what changed?" Murk's foot shuffled. His eyes fell away from the goddess. The deity let out a breath he didn't need to copy. Once his eyes returned to Tenebrosity- she could see the true color- a glittering, demonic green- bathed in the blood of a million lives, the screaming of countless souls stitched into black markings at the edges...
"That is for me to know, Tenebrosity." There was something off in those hues. The malice that Ten had seen in so many nightmares- that glint that sought the edge of a blade, that craved a world bathed in hellfire--- had it always been so full of pain? And in a blink, the eyes of his disguise were back in place.
"I wasn't going to press, don't worry~. That's for you to know." But- she would take his change with a grain of salt. His journey was very...very....long- and she had seen far too many nightmares over millennia to believe him outright. Still- the benefit of the doubt never hurt. "For now...I think we should both be on our own ways....though I do hope to run into you again, Murk."
Maybe he would say well-behaved-- but she didn't have high hopes. Though it was a little surprising to see the pseudo-hog bow his head.
"...if you wish to...please, come find me in Sanden." He knew so little about Dark Gaia- but what he did know, from seeing her very creation, to the present...he couldn't help but hope to build a bridge where once there'd been none. Please.... "...I'd like you to meet my friends." I promise-
I've changed.
"I'd love to meet them. But- I think I'll wander a little longer before I do." She wondered if the city would still be standing by the time she came by. It was highly unlikely. "Until then, Murk."
"...Tenebrosity..." Murk watched as the other 'melted' into the sand- the Chaos Energy she emitted telling of her location as she drifted across the shadows- before suddenly darting away. His own eyes flickered around.
Everything would go well....
Hopefully.
He turned, a shudder traveling down his spine for a moment as he reinforced his disguise. The crunch of sand underfoot was all that could be heard as the disguised deity began trekking back along his own path. New footsteps...replacing those he had made before.
[]
"OhmyChaos, ohmyChaos...!" The disciple whimpered. They'd had a hand over their mouth, red eyes focused on the exchange below. Only once both parties were gone, did they dare to relax even the slightest bit.
Dark Gaia.
Mephiles the Dark.
They were lucky they weren't spotted- or worse, killed. The devils who sought the destruction of Mobius--- they'd been so close--! The frailty of their mortal shell was crashing down on them, their heart beating a few million miles per hour in their chest. They were just grateful they hadn't wet themself, to top off their immense panic.
Ears flicked rapidly- before they suddenly leapt from the sands. Dark Gaia and Mephiles the Dark, speaking? There was no way in Hell that it had been a casual conversation. They had to be plotting something- something horrific,- the end of Mobius? It had to be--- why else would those two interact????
They were just a lowly disciple-- they needed someone who knew what they were talking about- someone who could solve this- break the apparent bonds between the two devils of Mobius, the destroyers.
"Mother Gile--- needa--- Mother Gile--!" They bolted.
#a tranquil sea/on all horizons | writings#Sticks and stones won’t break my bones/But your name might crack me | Mephiles “Murk” the Dark#I wish there was another way out/For you | Dark Gaia “Tenebrosity”#don’t worry we’ll be back one day/to celebrate our glory days | queue#//enjoy for this is at the end of the current Q#//may it be v tasty.....

Dammit! Why did Drake go out farther past the town? He KNOWS he should've stayed close to the borders of the town where it would be safe! Now, he's lost among the road and he figured he's just back track back to Heavens Heed. Great. Now where is he gonna sleep? What is he gonna eat? Drake couldn't survive out here! He didn't know how to! Drake's eyes were welling with fresh, wet tears. He's scared right now. Drake's heard stories of wolves eating kids like him as night. He may have super powers, but he didn't know how to use them in the slightest. He just... thinks it and SOMETIMES it happened. Even then, Drake didn't want to hurt a poor animal! Even if it's a blood thirsty and hungry animal...
"I... I don't know where to go. Where.. where is Heavens Heed? I'm so stupid! I should've just gone to the forest like I always have!" Berating himself in shame for this choice. Now, it might've been a good thing he didn't go back to such a hostile environment. But at least he had food. Shelter. A bed. Could he really trade such a price?
#GAIA LOOKS SO SOFT OKAY I CAN'T WAIT TO HAVE DRAKE MEET HER QWHRTRH#drake's wandering farther out then he should and now he can't get back to his home hmmmm what a 'shame'#IC.#V. HEAVENS HEED#oddlies

“A lot of people’s lives are better because you’re in them.” / @terestris
It wasn't often Hibiko had the guts to go into town under the guise of a civilian. Actually, it was hardly ever, almost never. It took planning, luck, and plenty of guts. Being approached by a foreign stranger so boldly is what tested the latter.
"I'm... I'm sorry?" Shit, oh my god, she totally knew who Hibiko was. After a full day of exploring and entertaining herself, she was positive no one recognized her! Most people knew of the royal family with drawings and paintings of the such, but there was hardly reason to raise suspicion without the few guards and her typical overdressing. But, obviously, this girl was different, which meant she needed to leave.
"Um, thank you," a quick bow, "have a good day!" Hibiko spat out and tried to skitter away. It was way too crowded and this could easily turn into something dangerous if she even tempted to entertain the girl.
