I knew I was right to be skeptical about Uzi going full Murder Drone! But wow—there is a lot too unpack with what this one introduced.

First off, what’s wrong with Uzi’s classmates? Why were they so afraid of her when Doll was going all prom murder? The first time I slightly get cause they were surprised by her speaking a bit suddenly. But the second time? They all saw Uzi exit the tree lining before she spoke!

Unless it’s right in front of them—they barely react/register tragedy, going as far as to play it off as a joke. I thought Lizzy was a singular case due to being best friends with Doll. She at least seemed far more nonchalant about killing off her classmates. And she isn’t even AS infected!

The promo showed who was going to be killed.

Once again, I’m reminded these are robots trying to mimic human society. Their emotional intelligence is pretty poor overall considering they barely react to deaths afterward. Following mob/herd mentality, no continuous sense of self-preservation, and having very loose morals.

The fact they found more comfort in known murderers is concerning. Makes me wonder how their parent's generation even survived.

(Also, it was Nori’s idea to create the doors and not Khan's? “Build doors against the coming sky demons!–The singularity awakens...”)

Two; How in the world can Uzi’s AbsoluteSolver create organic matter?! I was under the strong impression that it used nanites to affect general things. Yet this is on a completely another level.

Something which her mother seemed to be aware of. Uzi made f*cking bat-like wings and a mouthed tail out of nothing. People appear to be debating whether she was fully herself or AS crazy during that scene in the ep comments. It. It could either way to be honest. We see her puke up (streaming) oil from Daren and look at her oil-covered hand in horror. Her eyes/visor flickering between a Murder Drone X to high temperature warning to AS symbol in one eye.

And yet she goes into murder mode pretty quickly. Laughing eerily similar to V from Ep 1.

She tricked V by begging to speak to N, then during the falling talk was clearly in full control of herself. I hate the Absolute Solver program.

Sidenote, We see how V has indeed been hiding things. “New body, same horrors, huh, Cyn?” Who from a very brief flashback from N is the fourth yellow-eyed drone Tessa restored. We kinda knew about her from the beginning since we see “Absolute Solver attempt block by Administrator CYN.” post-reboot slap. She had the AS symbol plus the large distended mouth in the flashback. She—she had a human arm in her mouth showing it off to N (I think.)

How she maintains an Administrator position in the JCJenson corporation—shown to hate rogue/free-thinking AIs—I’ll never know...

Another, or the same arm, was shown in a chandelier a few seconds after. The flashback ends with what I believe to be a black hole in the sky. Or maybe a blotted out sun?

Red eyes were visible when N fries that monitor touching the buttons. Except for them being rounder than a drone’s so we can rule out Doll.

Thirdly. There was more to Nori than we could imagine given the little bug recognizing 02.

Register Torture Chamber complaint??? Either Nori used torture chambers(!) on other drones or was subjected to one. She seemed to have a descent into madness after the core explosion. If the box of “Family Memories before Nori went Kooky & Insane” was any indication. I did miss that when I first watched the episode...

Nori didn’t just see the three Murder Drones, she saw countless descended from the sky that the doors were her idea in the first place. There are so many questions we can ask about this: Did Nori and Yeva know about the Zombie Drone thing? Did they not use their abilities in public to avoid turning as Uzi does? Will Doll eventually turn—or is it only older AS “02”? How often did Worker Drones turn into Zombie Drones back on Earth that there needed to be a training tape about them? I really hate AS.

4th—AbsoluteSolver does indeed cause the same overheating issues in Murder Drones. It feels nice to get a confirmation for this since we could only speculate. Uzi burns in sunlight now. She can regenerate like a Disassembly Drone too. All while still having wings, a stinger/mouthed tail, and the AbsoluteSolver abilities. The purple protagonist has the programming to become a far deadlier AS/Murder Drone hybrid.

Took down V like it was barely anything. Where did her new wings and tail even go when N caught her? Do they fold into her body like the Murder Drone's own ones do?? Her tail??? I thought J’s AS heart-thing was fleshy cause it used human ribcage remnants. Clearly, we know otherwise that it becomes an extension of advanced AbsoluteSolvee users... What did Cyn/Tessa/JCJenson create? (nightmare fuel)

Lastly, character growth! Uzi showed her softer side and insecurities in this episode. N appears to be losing his doormat qualities defending himself. V’s still mean—but worried mean~ She is looking out for N, and very afraid for them.

Glitch and the crew really stepped up their animation ability in this episode. Characters are far more fluid. We see their expressions range, the episode was less joking to bring home how serious Cabin Fever was. At least more so compared to the other three episodes—nice.

WHAT IF: Goku Black Turned Good? (My Thoughts) What IF: Goku Black was a Turles Origin Story

In the link above is MasakoX’s WHAT IF: Goku Black Turned Good? oneshot episode, and I really enjoyed it, but I feel like it had a bit of an underwhelming conclusion. 

On top of my head, Zamasu forcing Black in non-consented Fusion with the rest remaining the same until the split from the Spirit Sword severing the Fusion. With the Mortal Black helping Trunks get a better shot at the vulnerable immortal Zamasu who needs to be hit before his body fully resets. By pinning him to the ground. Both of them die, but with one fully repented for his atrocities to Trunks and welcomes this divine justice being deliverd by his hand. Since it’s so fitting for Trunks to be the one to deliver the final blow to him. Goku Black and Zamasu meet again in the after life and make up. Gowasu gives his pupil a chance to start over by granting him his very life the same way Old Kai did for Goku and convincingly ensures how he will do everything in his power to allow Goku Black to not be erased by the higher ups.

I wanted to share my comment to it.

This is much closer to how I would have handled the Zamasu and Goku Black scenario with Goku's body rejecting Zamasu in small bursts like you said with passion and fleeting memories, but his memories being the more major ones for a change. Give Zamasu an arc learning 'what it's like walking in someone else's shoes'. Learning what it means to be mortal first hand and realizing where their purpose in the universe is for. 

Granted, I would have taken more advantage of being in the Future timeline where Goku is a Fallen Savior, but his footprints are still ingrained in the people that Goku Black is killing. Black is influenced by the likes of Roshi, Oolong, Puar, Chi-chi, Ox-King, Baba, Korin, and Bulma, if not in the moment, in hindsight because they are planting seeds in him from Goku’s life. 

Goku's innate purity and goodness teach Zamasu the mortals' potential through these people and how his body responds to their words and reactions to him. Future Trunks with the Resistance and Goku/ Vegeta hammers it home even further for Black to realize the error of his ways. I think he shouldn't die, but live on and live out a mortal's existence while just barely squeaking out from erasure for being instrumental in halting the arc, doing the Divine equivalent of community service for his crimes. He is the go-to errand boy for the Gods when they need him, but is acclimating to Universe 10 lower realms and forming relationships with the mortals that live there. He is no longer Zamasu, but he isn't Goku either, so he might go by Black from now on, or choose a Saiyan name to fit his body. He is going to take a few more pages from Goku's book. Maybe try martial arts since Universe 10 is filled with various martial artists and we can see how this blossoms in the next arc with the T.O.P. 

The twist ending of Black being a Master Class Rebooted Turles 

With a new lease on life, Black could give himself an appropriate Saiyan name for his story moving forward. It’s a fresh starting point for Turles.

In many ways, Goku Black was heavily inspired by the original evil Goku, Turles, So it stands to reason that we could just go all the way and just combine them.   

This would have the audience recontextualize the arc and looking back to see all of their similarities as foreshadowing and looking forward to how this newly actualized character would be like. The name acting a tease to make people eager for what’s to come.

We could watch as a more open-minded Black had befriended some of his fellow competitors on the Universe 10 team and bonding with others as the T.O.P. progresses. In fact, he could be U10′s poster face like Hit is for U6 or Jiren is for U11 that gets us invested in the other Universes, at least as a threat and at most endearing us to them before they are erased to push the stakes of the arc. These guys could even act as a reference to both groups that fought in the Tree of Might. The loyal followers with varied backstories that Turles surrounded himself to display his open-mind and the Z-Fighters who were entirely made up of Martial Artists back then during the Tree of Might movie. 

Movie Turles was hung up over the conflict of Goku’s and Gohan's purity vs the Saiyan's evil nature under the popular misconception that the Saiyans are supposed to be evil, but Toriyama mentions in supplemental materials, in actuality, Saiyans of old were more like Goku. So while the message is taking a different angle, it remains intact through Zamasu being a person who has had his life permanently changed by the 'true nature' of the Saiyan race which isn't evil, but ever striving for self-improvement. 

Turles animosity toward Vegeta and his family from the games have been repackaged with Black being Future Trunks’ living nightmare and killing Future Bulma, and being a pale imitation in Vegeta’s eyes by using Goku’s body. So the multiple fights with Vegeta were very personal, but for the other side. Originally it was personal for Turles who had something to prove due to the social hierarchy putting the royalty in a much more favorable status than him being born a low class Saiyan, but Vegeta looked down on him for not training / earning his power in battles like a true Saiyan would.

Turles is better known for his signature Tree of Might, which always had Divine roots which are expanded and explored by making him a full on Kai. 

Even right down to Black’s air of sophistication stemming from the Kais having proper manners being more intellectual types not only reflects Turles’ character being a clever Saiyan

Black rebelled against the Divine system in the same way Turles rebelled against the Saiyans by deserting the army

They also share the character flaw of skipping steps for power while looking down on others and being self-absorbed and closed-minded on certain viewpoints. 

Goku Black and Turles have similar traits in their arrogance, but also their passion for battle coming out in troubling circumstances due to the Saiyan instincts. 

Even right down to the way Zamasu and Turles are defeated are the same after having ravaged the planet and seemingly stripped it of all life and hope. They are both poetically defeated by the power of Earth's remaining living creatures finding hope as they come together in their darkest moments. One is a Spirit Bomb the other is a Spirit Sword. (Granted most of us ignore the Xeno Button)

Lucidity

A WandaVision oneshot (SPOILERS!) Words: 1,623

Summary: When White Vision leaves WestView and discovers that Tony Stark is dead, he starts to realise that he is very different to who he used to be, but isn't sure how.

Lucidity

He is Vision.

That was the one clear thought in his mind. It pierced through the stitches of the (now unfamiliar) mismatched coding, giving him clarity and yet confusing him at the same time. The overwhelming instinct to destroy The Vision and Wanda Maximoff slowly began to recede, leaving behind only the memory of an order and a small urge to comply.

It would be wrong to terminate Wanda Maximoff, would it not? He recalled telling her that he loved her. Loved ones do not harm each other, do they?

(“I love you,” he grits out, as her magic finally manages to penetrate the stone. The tiny sliver or relief overpowers the immense agony he is in and he releases the breath he has been holding, drinking in her features one last time before squeezing his eyes shut to embrace his fate. The last thing he knows is pain beyond imagination as she destroys all that he is.)

Or perhaps they do, depending on the circumstances. He felt like he should know the answer. He did not.

As the last of his new programming was broken apart, the order itself did not leave him.

Terminate Wanda Maximoff. Neutralise The Vision.

But he was The Vision. So… he must destroy himself, correct? That was the logical thing to do. So then why was he feeling hesitant to do so?

He flew straight upwards to set about to accomplish this, surpassing the strange red barrier of Wanda’s creation until he was far above it. Since the sky was clear that day, from his perspective he could see that it was hexagonal. He then angled his body so that he was upside down, decreased his density to more closely match that of a human’s, and let gravity do the work.

Eyes closed, he started to fall.

(“Mr Stark, there is something I have been meaning to ask of you.” Tony turns to him in surprise, but that surprise quickly morphs into that odd, warm expression he wears whenever he talks to him. He tells him to continue, so he does. “I have discovered that… that you and Dr Banner have programmed me in such a way that I am unable to bring harm to myself.” Tony’s eyes widen and there is an unspoken question which he does not answer. “I was wondering if you could change that. If I were to be corrupted in some way, I want to be able to stop myself before I hurt others.” The reasons he goes on to detail are perfectly logical, but he does not understand the heartbreak written on Tony’s face.)

He stops himself just as he is about to enter Wanda’s domain.

Life review is a phenomenon encountered by those having a near-death experience where it is said that their life “flashes before their eyes”. Not once did Vision ever think he himself would experience it. He did not when he was being killed by Wanda, he did not when he was being killed by Thanos. So it stands to reason that he should not in this situation, either. And yet he did.

Countless vague memories of Tony Stark. Much clearer memories of the destruction of Ultron and Sokovia. Of stolen moments with Wanda Maximoff. Of the mind stone communicating with him. Of Thanos.

He no longer had the mind stone. Wanda Maximoff was somewhere beneath him that very moment, appearing to fight a witch. The last he saw of Tony Stark was when he was on a news broadcast somewhere in New York. The last he saw of Thanos was when his hand was clawing through his skull in Wakanda.

He tried to access the Internet to find their whereabouts, but rather jarringly realised that he was completely cut-off. Unlike his memories that had simply been blocked from him, connecting to the Internet was now something he was physically unable to do.

He grimaced. That could prove to be a problem.

A problem that Tony Stark could fix. As the world appeared to be in no immediate danger, he could only assume that Thanos was not currently a threat. Once his disarranged mind had been mended, he would then go to Wakanda to assess the situation. Until then, he had to find Tony Stark.

Being restricted from using the Internet felt akin to the loss of a limb, which is why it took him a few moments to search through his memories and decide that the most rational place to start looking would be the Avengers Compound.

(“I never thought I would share a house with Tony Stark.” Wanda tells him after he asks her if there is a difference between a house and a home. “But I’ve always thought of a house as just where you live. A home is the people and memories attached to it.” He is still confused. He supposes that the Avengers Compound is his house, but is it truly his home if he has never lived anywhere else? Wanda seems to sense his doubt, as she always does, and she takes his hand comfortingly. “Vision… I think this our home now.”)

And so he began his flight, as fast as could, to New York.

The Compound had been destroyed.

Where the New Avengers Facility had once been were acres of flattened forest. From where he was hovering, he could see the teems of teams of people, all hard at work completing various tasks. Some were clearing the remainder of rubble, others were attempting to rebuild the facility from the nothing that was left, and, perhaps the most curiously, in the middle of it all there was a large group of journalists surrounding a small monument.

What had happened?

Unlike the rest of the facility, that mysterious monument was the only thing that appeared to be fully built. In an attempt to better understand the situation, Vision moved closer and partially phased into a tree to privately see it more clearly.

He waited for the crowds to move in such a way that he would be able to see what was written on the metal pillar, and when he could finally read it he felt his whole body tense.

(“Listen V, it’s my will and I get to decide who’s on it. Clue’s in the name.” He tries to argue but Tony interrupts him. “Nope, not gonna hear any of your ‘ohh but I’m not human’ bullshit. I had JARVIS down to inherit a bunch of stuff before this, and- yes, I know you’re not him, this is just to prove a point.” He listens in silence, still disagreeing with Tony’s decision. The man’s voice takes on a solemn tone. “I want you to have this much because believe it or not you’re like a son to me, Vision.” All of a sudden, all of his questions regarding his and Mr Stark’s relationship are cleared up. Having Tony say it himself helps it all make sense. Their bond had grown to be more than just inventor and creation. It was that of a father and son. “And I’m gonna treat you like one, even on my will, alright?”)

Tony Stark was dead. Anthony Edward Stark was… dead. If the words on the plaque of red and gold were to be believed, he sacrificed himself to save the universe on October 17th, 2023.

2023? He had lost 5 years?

Vision had felt different since the moment he was rebooted. It was not an unpleasant feeling. Just… different. And that difference had not been more noticeable to him than it was in that moment.

This was because a part of him (the JARVIS part of him) was stunned with disbelief. Then that disbelief was gradually replaced with other sensations. It was as if the voice in his head (he was uncertain if the voice belonged to him or JARVIS) was screaming in the confusion of what could have happened, the guilt of not being there to prevent it and protect him, and the overwhelming grief of losing the closest thing he had to a family member. His father. Sir.

But that’s all it was: a voice in his head. Outwardly…

He felt nothing.

He absentmindedly wondered if that should worry him.

With the knowledge that Tony Stark was dead and therefore could not help him, Vision decided to find someone who could. As far as he knew, Dr Banner was still missing and he was strangely hesitant to seek out the help of Shuri. So perhaps he could attempt to help himself?

No, stay! Stay and ask these people what happened! Ask if they need help! Find the other Avengers! Find out how Mr Stark died!

He left New York.

He had the memories of who he had been. He was not the same. Using those differences he could try and piece together an explanation. The world did not need saving at present, which meant that Thanos had most likely been defeated. And as Vision had nobody and now nowhere to go to, he would just have to wait until the world needed him.

(“Just so we’re absolutely clear,” the man says, “you are to terminate Wanda Maximoff and neutralize The Vision by any means necessary. She’ll be powerful, so be careful. And The Vision will match you for every move you make. After that, you report back to me and wait for your next orders, understood?”

“Understood.” He affirms, and for the smallest of moments his voice sounds wrong.)

Yes, he will wait. He will be useful again. They will need him- who? Humanity or those that weaponised him? Who was the old Vision loyal to? Is he truly Vision anymore? Why doesn’t he care?- and until they do… he will wait.

THEMATIC SHIT

First off, get rid of the reincarnation plot. Indra & Asura still exist, but Asura is the Sage’s apprentice and not his second son. This is kept as backstory for the Uchiha curse of hatred & makes Indra’s anger at being passed over for inheriting ninshu make more sense to the audience. The generational parallels are still present, but more subdued and closer to implied reincarnation than actually stating it.

Second, keep god tree!Madara the final final boss, and set Kaguya aside for the final movie and/or Boruto. Someone else said it first and better, but having Madara as the final boss means the shinobi world is having to face the problems it created and the ending is about stopping the cycle of war and trying to create peace in the future.

Third: figure out what the fuck you’re saying about fate! OG Naruto has two completely different themes for Part 1 and Part 2. Bringing fate and destiny and generational patterns of violence into Part 2 is fine, but you still need to have Naruto breaking the mold and forcing things to change with his Shonen Protagonist Energy, because that’s what he does. Naruto doesn’t align to people’s expectations, even when it’s a force of the universe! He’s the #1 unpredictable ninja!

Fourth: people can be redeemed but they’re not secretly good. I’m looking at you, Itachi. He did something horrible for what he thought were good reasons, then defected from the village and now wants to destroy the shinobi system for what they forced him to do to his clan. And in case he doesn’t succeed, Sasuke can kill him for clout in the village. Keeps the woobie backstory and makes his status as a villain more secure while still leaving room for Sasuke to grieve what could have been and decide to destroy the shinobi world himself. 

SAKURA

Give the girl the mokuton. Seriously. I don’t care how. Hashirama appears to her in a dream and declares her his successor, she’s just really in tune with nature chakra, she’s descended from a Senju branch clan, I don’t care. It gives her a special power to use when Sasuke develops the Sharingan and Naruto starts chomping fox chakra, and if you give her the connection with Hashirama and bump up Mito’s involvement in backstory (maybe by taking away some of Tobirama’s relevance?) it creates a good sharingan v. mokuton v. jinchuriki/uchiha v. senju v. uzumaki setup for battle of the end 2.0 and 3.0

(Also, stop giving people Mokuton in lab experiments. Implanted sharingan serve a purpose in weirding out Sasuke and furthering his trauma through disrespect of his dead family, but this is just unnecessary. If you want more than one person to have it, have them actually inherit it.)

Give that bitch a signature move! Naruto and Sasuke come out of the Academy knowing the shadow clone jutsu and giant fireball respectively, but Sakura doesn’t have anything. It doesn’t have to be a jutsu, maybe she’s good with senbon or her family has their own style of swordplay, something small but distinct that will let her stand out a little. Give her a second one when Naruto learns the rasengan and Sasuke gets the Chidori.

Sakura’s parents are just the worst. Absolute garbage people. Emotional abuse and belittling day in and day out. Have Sakura hate her parents, for real reasons, so she can serve as a foil that challenges Naruto and Sasuke to understand her instead of the other way around. It also gives them reasons to be protective of her other than “oh she’s weak and a girl” and encourages them to fold her into their dynamic. 

MISC

Make Temari the Kazekage. It’s weird that Gaara takes Naruto’s dream and manages to do it in like two years, since he spent the first 13 years of his life killing people and terrorizing his village. Meanwhile Temari is reasonably strong, has a solid head on her shoulders, and with allowance for the three year time skip definitely could be Kage material.

Involve the whole Konoha 11 in the Sasuke retrieval arc. If Lee can show up 15 minutes late with starbucks than you can swing by your teammates houses to ask if they’re free. It also makes the fact that the kids win more believable. The Sound Four are jounin level, and these kids are just out of the academy. If it’s two on one they have better odds, and you’ll stop breaking show-don’t-tell when you talk about Konoha teamwork.

First one immediately out as much as it pains me is Vergil. He would basically be the reason why the demons are attacking because he grew another giant tower or giant tree or… a giant bed of flowers or whatever. Not to mention that he was blinded by his own trauma and did not like being victimized so he would be a bit too preoccupied with seeking power and depending on which version we’re talking about since this poll doesn’t specify which version of Dante, Vergil, or Nero, if we’re talking DMC3 Vergil, he will keep people at arms length and act cold and be more selfish.

If it’s DMC5 Vergil, maybe, but since we didn’t get canonical glimpses of him being selfless after coming back from the dead other than taking the loss from Nero gracefully, I can’t really say that he will be selfless and risk his life to save someone even if he gets little to no benefits from it. If we’re talking Reboot Vergil, I think anyone who has seen me slander Reboot Vergil already knows the answer to that, lol.

Second one out is Dante mainly because he has this tendency to tell important information to people he’s close with at the very last minute when they’re in danger. He’s done it to Nero, even after knowing that Vergil is his dad and tells Vergil DURING THEIR FIGHT in DMC5 that Nero is his son. Like Dante, I love you too, but uh… I’m pretty sure both of them could’ve learned about this fact, idk, earlier??? Though I get why, Dante projected onto Nero quite a lot. Do not get me wrong, he does have a protective streak. He’s protective of Patty and he’s protective of Nero in his own way.

I also forgot to mention Reboot Dante, whoops! Reboot Dante starts out selfish and arrogant. Yeah, I know he’s a Nephilim (half angel half demon) and has dealt with demon attacks a lot to the point where it’s an everyday chore for him, but like I said, Reboot Dante is probably the most selfish one you don’t want to rely on to protect you. Chances are he only killed a bunch of demons because they were in his way, not because you were in danger.

But the winner here is Nero. Nero was motivated by his last failure to protect Credo, the fact that he actually has a blood family, as well as the fact that he also saved and protected the leftover SWAT police guy at the beginning of DMC5. When he first got weird vibes from the hooded and zombified Vergil, he immediately told Kyrie to stay inside. Nero is the definition of fight or flight mode and he instantly chooses fight every single time. He even protected V from Malphas even though he barely knew the guy. Even though he despises Vergil, he still wanted both him and Dante to live.

So TL:DR based on everything I’ve seen in canon so far, Nero would be the best protector.

Digimon Adventure 2020, episode 6 reaction (and over-analysis?)

Well, that was good. Very good. Definitely among the better ones until now.

Her relationship with Palmon is pretty good too. Palmon clearly indulges her during the first few scenes, but immediately drops the pretenses and honorifics once things turn dangerous. She's also perceptive enough to notice Mimi is scared, and immediately stops once Mimi stops walking in the end to look at her.

Ogremon showed some good planning. He seems to have expected the frontal assault to fail, and planned to separate all the children. He sends the Tuskmon to try for a lateral one to get Taichi and Agumon away, Coredramon seemingly baits Sora and Piyomon away from Mimi later on, then of course he always had a Drimogemon prepared, and seems to try to attack them right before the evolution triggers, as well as later tries to attack Mimi directly while Togemon is occupied. Despite the caveman dialogue, he's shown himself to be pretty smart, and his pain and shame at the end after Greymon broke his horn makes me wonder how his character will play out. Both him and Coredramon had glowing red eyes at one point, which has also been the case with every brainwashed digimon. Adds more fodder to the "Ogremon is being controlled" theory. A couple other bullet points I wrote while rewatching the episode:

Taichi makes sure to not forget his original reason to come to the Digital World. He also does not immediately cheer when the tuskmon fall into the trap (unlike Agumon and Palmon), because he knows the battle is just starting. Mimi doesn't cheer either.

Agumon is the only one of the group who does not say he is hungry. Instead, he closes his eyes and tries to smell for food. A big change from Tri, and a welcome one.

Palmon and the Tanemon did not immediately notice Taichi and Sora weren't digimon. Or at least, Palmon didn't treat them as something strange. Maybe they didn't recognize they weren't digimon until Mimi saw them?

The Tanemon do not speak. Does anyone remember if Koromon spoke in episode 1? They clearly understand language and how Mimi is feeling, they just don't speak.

OST while Mimi is introducing herself sounded very stereotypically european, probably channeling them for the "Royalty" feeling.

Agumon and Piyomon gossiped about the Tuskmon, introducing them to us. Palmon immediately realizes what the Tuskmon plan to do, showing she knows the layout of her area. They really do feel like they've lived in this world their whole lives.

Sora knows who the president of Tachikawa Industries may be.

The throne moves from the middle of the village to directly in front of the fruit trees. Not a continuity mistake, just a curious bit that implies Mimi asked them to move it just for this fight.

Greymon is capable of one-shotting two Tuskmon at the same time with Mega Flame, which is consistent with last episode. He is only capable of holding them back in CQC, though.

Palmon did not realize the battle wasn't about the fruit until Ogremon mentions the children.

Palmon's evolution sequence has petals. Lilimon reference?

During the Greymon vs Ogremon fight, while Taichi is focused on them, Sora instead notices the fight between Togemon and Drimogemon. When Mimi stops walking at the end, Sora also knows without asking why she did.

Palmon devolves without explanation. I don't think we'll get an explanation of why some Adults remain on their evolved forms for a while and why some devolve immediately after the fight.

The Yamato-centric ED is starting to feel very misleading, though I guess we'll get swamped by Yamato-centric episodes eventually. As of right now, my ranking of the characters would go Taichi = Mimi > Koushiro > Yamato > (Hikari) >Sora. Next up, serious angry Jou and a V-Tamer reference episode.

The (1) thing the reboot got right was entertaining the idea of a whitelighter (I think it was the charmed ones?? I didn’t watch it) having a kid as a mortal. BECAuse the possibilities!!! Like would Leo want to see his son? Would his son resent him? Would he want to get to know his grandson? How would Piper + the next gen feel about having family on their father’s side? Would theses kids bond? Sorry for all the questions, this is an idea I’ve wished they would have explored forever :D

yeah i’m p sure they like knocked all of harry’s human memories out or something and gave him a fake name all that but he still found his way back to his lil family found out he was married all that and just like. saw his great great grandkids or something. and his so, who was like 97 or something, looks up and saw a man who looked Just Like his father but hadn’t aged and idk how he reacted i don’t really like harry plotlines and tend not to pay attention to them But solid idea. v interesting. it was a team up episode with him & mel, which was definitely an underrated duo.

in regards to leo specifically having a son: idk i feel like it’s best for plot’s sake if like leo wasn’t like,, really super in love w him wife. like maybe it was a bit of a marriage of convenience, just so his first ever really love moving heaven and earth love would be with piper. but like that being said, he still liked his wife. like they were friends. they just didn’t necessarily love each other. i think leo’s real hope for her would be that she could move on and find someone who she really loved. i think leo would definitely want to know his son bc like That’s His Son. i think piper would be v supportive of it but like. still feel a lil weird. bc the whole time, she was under the impression that she was the first to marry leo, she was the first to give him a child, they experienced these firsts Together but as is turns out They Did Not. still, i don’t think she’s gonna be a dick about it, bc like. leo got his memory wiped and at the time also thought that this was his first wedding & child. still like, a subconscious part of piper is like i’m gonna be like superwife. i’m gonna be the best wife anyone could ever be, to prove not to them but to the universe as a whole that they got it right. that i was always meant to be leo’s wife. that our love is pure, true, and final. so she def like invites that branch of leo’s family over for like a nice dinner at the manor, where the majority of the time they spend questions fielding magic. assuming we’re going off my unofficial family tree, i think the only witch in that line would be roughly piper’s age, maybe a bit older, so while like the mortals are like can you really fly on broomsticks? she’s like when using dried billingsroot as opposed to fresh in a potion, do you add a lil more? i think leo would really really wanna hear just like. What his kids got up to. what did they do. i think that, while none of them are whitelighters or anything, they still have a fair amount of do gooding in their hearts, and would all have tales of of various escapades for each of their eras. and yeah, i think leo would well up a bit looking at this great family that’s grown so much and done so much good, and he’s just really glad that, for however briefly, he gets to be a part of it

“Hey, babe. Welcome back.” Dante greeted without looking upfrom his magazine. As you shut the door behind you, you wanted to snap at himabout the dirty magazines, but you were still in shock.

“How did you know it was me?” You asked and Dante smirked,finally tearing his gaze away from the magazine.

“Call it a lucky guess.” Dante replied. He took in yourappearance, nervous and fidgeting, unable to look at him.

“What’s goin’ on?” Dante asked, sitting up and tossing the magazineonto his desk. He folded his hands on top of it and gazed at you. Since he andhis brother had gotten back from the underworld, things had been a bit more brightaround the office. Dante wasn’t using his fake smile anymore. The one you knewall too well. Ever since Mallet Island, he had been closed off. He told you he hadlost his brother there and that had hurt him badly. His whole family was gone.For several years, he hid his pain, even from you. You tried to get past hisbarriers, but it was a pain he wouldn’t let anyone near.

Through it all, you stood by him, ready to help him in anyway you could. Taking hunting jobs just so you both could at least keep thebusiness open and put food on the table, but it seemed that Dante had lost allinterest in it. Dante had lost the spark that kept him going. Then came V andthe Qliphoth and suddenly Vergil was back. You had tried to go with him andVergil to the underworld, but Dante made you stay topside. He and his brothercould protect each other down there, but Dante would be too worried about youto let you go. You wanted to argue, to tell him you could take care ofyourself, but then you saw the deeper reason. Dante wanted to reconnect withhis brother.

So, you watched as the man you loved took flight to destroythe roots of the demon tree leaving you and Nero to clean up the demons topside. For several months, you didn’t hear anything. The whole time you were anabsolute wreck. What if Mundus came back? What if a stronger demon came? Whatif they got killed? What if Vergil turned on him? Just as you were consideringopening a portal of your own to go rescue them, they walked in. Dante with agrin on his face while his brother was as stoic as always.

“(Y/N)?” Dante’s voice broke you out of your thoughts. Yousighed and slowly made your way to his desk.

“I…I need to tell you something.” You started and Dante noddedfor you to continue. Finally, you looked up at him, knowing he deserved toknow.

“I’m pregnant.” You said. It took Dante severalseconds to understand what you meant.

“You’re…You’re…” Dante whispered.

“She’s pregnant, Dante, she’s going to have a child.” Vergilspoke from the couch making you jump. He was so quiet, you hadn’t even realizedhe was in the room. Currently, he was seated, his legs crossed, and a book inhis hands, he hadn’t even looked up from the pages.

“Pregnant.” Dante repeated and stood up. You couldn’t readhis expression and that scared you. But Dante pulled you into his arms, holdingyou tightly.

“You’re pregnant.” Dante repeated, starting to smile.

“I can’t believe it!” He exclaimed.

“You’re okay?” You asked and Dante nodded.

“Of course I’m okay! This is wonderful! Is it a boy or agirl? I guess it doesn’t matter, I’ll love them no matter what. I can’t believethis!” Dante exclaimed and hugged you again.

“It’s really early to tell if it’s a boy or a girl yet.” Youreplied and Dante nodded, rubbing your belly gently.

“Welcome to fatherhood, Dante. You are not turning my roominto a nursery.” Vergil stated.

“Nah, I wouldn’t do that to you, Verge! I’ll just put thebaby monitor in your room and you can wake up with the baby crying!” Danteteased. Vergil’s answer to the teasing was to stab his brother with a summonedsword making you laugh. While you were excited to be pregnant, you really hopedthe brothers would tone down the stabbing after the baby arrived.

For the character ask thing: Rosa?

Rosa Rivera (Coco, 2017)

First impression: She’s sassy and adorable. I like her. What’s her name and how is she related to Miguel? I’m getting some Ben and Gwen vibes between them.

Impression now: ME. Rosa is me. Also she’s my daughter and I love that the fandom decided to love her as well even with her minimal screentime. And since she was also voiced by reboot Ben 10′s Gwen’s voice actress, Montse Hernandez, I can’t distinguish the two anymore. She and Miguel are totally Ben and Gwen. I love that she plays the violin, just like her great-aunt Victoria. ♥

I have flats that look exactly like hers, I’m low-key excited about that.

Favorite moments: “You have to have talent to be in a talent show.” Literally her only line and it’s iconic for her. I’m just waiting for the Ben 10 reboot to toss in a Coco reference to Rosa. Any day now… 

I love how she was sympathetic towards Miguel when his secret was outed to the family. She actually looked so sorry that he was in that terrible situation and wanted to help him!

And then her and Abel playing “Proud Corazón” alongside Miguel and happily playing their own instruments!

Idea for a story: What do you think my fanfic, “Home Is Where the Heart Is” is? Just my telling of what would happen if Rosa tragically died young and met her dead ancestors, especially her great-great grandpa Héctor for maximum bonding experience and feels?

Unpopular opinion: None. I love Rosa for who she is! ♥

Favorite relationship: I really love imagining how her relationship with her Papá Héctor would be like. He’d be as doting and protective with her as he was with Miguel! ;v; 

I love the idea that Rosa and Miguel bond even more post-movie, not just over music, but with everything else. They still have their little cousin rivalry but it’s more friendly banter and gentle teasing and less of trying to best each other. 

Being a Papá’s girl myself, I want hers and Berto’s bond to be touched upon more, which is something I’m trying to show in my fic!

Favorite headcanon(s): Rosa was named after her great-great aunt Rosita; her calavera markings mostly resembles hers. 

Pink, purple, and blue are her favorite colors.

She didn’t start wearing glasses until she was 10. Thanks, Tíos Óscar and Felipe or Tía Victoria. :P

She LOVES ferrets and Pokémon, the latter she can watch more freely with the music ban being lifted and even enjoys trying to play some of the songs from the movies (”Lugia’s Song” is my her favorite).

She secretly practiced violin at her best friend’s house (the same girl who ran through Miguel when he met his aunts and great-grandpa Julio), which is why she seems so good at it at the end of the movie. 

When Rosa grows older, her features shape out so that they’re a mix of Mamá Imelda‘s and Victoria’s face shapes and Papá Héctor‘s nose.

Her adventurous spirit makes her a bit of a daredevil, as well, more so than Miguel, which leads her to getting a few more minor injuries. Her worst one was a busted elbow after using a five foot stone wall as a make-shift balance beam that she slipped off of. Didn’t stop her though. 

Papá Héctor nearly had a phantom heart attack when he first witnessed Rosa shinny up a tree and onto the roof to retrieve a toy one of her twin brothers accidentally tossed up there. He practically almost tore his hat in half, he was clenching it so hard, especially when Rosa’s foot slipped once.

Mamá Imelda calmly assures him that she and Miguel does this sort of thing all the time and seem to know what they’re doing and learns if they get hurt.

Doesn’t make Héctor feel better and he won’t stop his futile screaming at Rosa to get the heck down until she’s safely back onto terra firma. Elena and Berto were also yelling, so he’s glad he wasn’t the only one.

Powerpuff Girls 2016 - “Aliver”

The big finale...of Season 2, anyway.

Note: There's a bit of confusion on what season some episodes belong to, mostly due to non-US Cartoon Networks airing episodes early. Not So Secret Service aired among a bunch of other Season 2 episodes in other countries, but is considered a Season 3 episode in the US. This episode and Never Been Blissed are considered by Foxtel in Australia as Season 3 episodes, but Cartoon Network US puts them in Season 2. I'm going with Cartoon Network US's order.

This episode starts on Monster Island, which was proven to be a very interesting locale with its lush jungles and variety of monsters. It turns out to be the locale of a rather timely reference to a once very popular show that existed since the early 2000s. I know Survivor still exists, but it's a show that's been parodied to death. Will this show in Current Year Joke do anything fresh with the concept? Let's find out.

Not only is it Aliver, it's Aliver Superhero Edition, so all of the contestants are superheroes. They decided not to desecrate the Justice Friends, even the original Powerpuff Girls didn't use them very well, and decided to make four new superheroes specifically for this episode. I'm sure they'll all be very memorable, and I should know, because I predicted two and a half of these heroes' names from just one screenshot.

Jarhead - By far the most creative of the four: a living jar with a face who apparently stole the body of Action Hank from Dexter's Lab. The flavor text reveals that he's also the captain of the "B Team", but there's no indication on who is in it, or whether there's even an "A Team". Maybe it's his superhero group: a group of vigilantes falsely accused of a misdemeanor in Vietnam. He also seems to hate trees, as he does a kick that sends one flying across the island.

The Acro Twins - They're the Wonder Twins, minus the transforming into water and animals part. It will become clear that they couldn’t think of much for these twins to do.

Superdad - After being shunned by everyone in Townsville, Major Man decided to get chin surgery, lose most of his hair, and become a father to one and a half kids. He's able to stop that tree with his powers of flight and super-strength he only shows in the intro.

Princess Morbucks - An ordinary girl they only added to the show because her Daddy owns the network.

Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup - They're here, too. While they don't do anything to the tree, they do get to uppercut a monster into the air without a hit flash. A sadly rare sight in this reboot.

The show treats the Reboot Puffs as one contestant, because they just didn't want a cliched "family getting angry at each other over a game show/reality show" plot. The episode is better off without that, really. While the tree never comes across them either, we do get the rare sight of the Powerpuff Girls sending a monster into the air without any hit flashes.

Our host is a guy named Jeff Accusation, last name revealed by a cheap gag later in the episode. It's a missed opportunity for a running gag, really, I was almost expecting him to say something was his middle name. I would go with "obtuse".

He announces that these heroes were selected to compete in a competition to get a huge assortment of prizes, like three Aqua Bikes, a hat, and the title of greatest superhero on national television! They immediately forget about any of those other prizes; nobody gets to ask what anyone except the trio would do with three aquabikes.

The first challenge is an egg-spoon race, minus the race, and multiply the size of both the spoon and the egg. The Acro Twins decide to go first, lifting up the spoon, only to almost immediately get carried away by an mostly offscreen vulture monster. Jeff must be really worried, he probably needs to pay for their injuries.

Jeff: And that’s why they call it...

Jeff: Monster Island!

Or not. I guess he just assumed since these guys are superheroes, they could survive anything. I guess he didn't watch PPG 2016, either. Despite seeing two of the contestants get carried away, the other contestants have no problem making it through the challenge in their own way. In each of these attempts, the egg hatches open to reveal a random monster. Each hero has their own way of dealing with them.

Jarhead slam dunks his jar-like head on top of the monster. Superdad uses his utility belt to give the monster a baby bottle. Bubbles drops the monster to the ground and hits it with the giant spoon over and over again. She doesn't get eliminated for dropping the egg, because that would ruin the plot. Then again, there seems to be something off about this show: Princess's egg is much tinier, and only hatches into a tiny bottle of spring water to quench her thirst.

We immediately cut to the second challenge. It's just challenges here, we never get to see them having to live through the horrors of the island with little supplies like the show it is parodying. Maybe they realized they wouldn't be able to beat Cartoon Network's own The Staylongers. It might as well be a parody of Takeshi's Castle. They have to traverse a spider cave to find a novelty T-shirt. This is truly to show off their creativity with such great references like "Where's The 🥩?" Maybe they're trying to compensate for this episode's Survivor reference with 80's commercial references.

After Jarhead unceremoniously gets beaten up by the unseen spider monster in the cave, Superdad comes in with an SUV and gets the T-Shirt, though his SUV gets heavily damaged. Somehow, his wife finds out about this, and he gets eliminated because angering your wife is against the rules. I think. The episode isn't even halfway over, and all of the non-established heroes are eliminated. Shame, they could have become such lovable characters.

This time, it's Buttercup's turn to get a T-shirt, and we get to see the one bit of consistency with the girls' fears: they still hate spiders. She even tore one of the monster's legs off. Now that's something we'll never see on camera in this reboot. She even gets a T-Shirt that says “Got 🍕?” They zoom in on it and have Buttercup laugh at it. I have no idea, either. As for Princess...

...she has a shirt thrown to her.

Princess: Thanks Daddy!

Princess:...Long Legs?

The Powerpuff Girls don't buy it. At the Accusation Campire, home of the aforementioned cheap name gag and the closest we get to Survivor's Tribal Council, they accuse Princess of cheating. Jeff is appaulled that someone would accuse Princess of doing anything wrong. Princess has her own: "read the shirt".

(Over a rap beat) Haters gonna hate, haters gonna hate, haters gonna hate...

This is a running gag that only shows up twice, but that's one too many. This is the closest we get to her being the Rap Princess; her rap cliche posse isn’t even in this episode. Jeff decides to fix this problem by cutting to a commercial.

Oh no, this isn't a two-parter, it's a fake commercial that stars Discount Jojo in a The Bachelor parody. The joke is that monkeys are stupid. It comes up in the very end, and it’s the exact same joke. They might as well have not bothered.

It is here that Mr. Accusation does say a line that could solve the whole “Powerpuff Girls being treated as one contestant” problem: he does say that there are “two teams left”. However, there was almost no indication there were teams before, outside of one mention of a ���B Team” in one of the bios that never seems to come up.

He goes through the final challenge, a race to the top of a mountain, with two monsters guarding the final flag. First, they have to get through the sandworms, through the sleeping Venus Fly Lotus, and then go up the relentless ridge to get the flag, and be crowned the greatest superhero ever. Gotta say, this final challenge really petered out with that last one. Horrible monsters, then a sleeping horrible monster, and then...a hill.

Much like the rest of the challenges, we see the Powerpuff Girls struggling against the sandworms, while Princess gets to just ride to the exit on a hidden escalator. The host still doesn't notice a thing, with the implication that he made a "deal" with Princess to not say anything. Maybe it involved a room full of Turkish delights, but we will never know. Princess ends up sneaking past the sleeping Venus Fly Trap, and then pulls a Dick Dastardly by intentionally waking it up as soon as she could run away from it. Unfortunately for her, she forgets to do the "run away" part.

By the power of being off-screen, they beat up the sandworms, though they do save Princess from the Venus Fly Trap that she gets trapped in on-screen. Princess promises to repay them for saving her life, and they demand that Princess admit that she was cheating this whole time. They decide to do this in full view and reach of the monster, which shouldn't be a problem because they could easily break through its vines.

Or not. They can be awesome in one second, but the minute they get grabbed, they’re as weak as an ordinary 6 year old girl. The Venus Fly Trap monster chomps on the girls. They desperately try to get Princess to help them out of this situation, as if they needed the help of what this episode has shown to be an ordinary 6 year old girl. This seems to be the norm for the reboot, but there's something far more to this.

Princess gets the flag at the end of the mountain, and starts celebrating. Unfortunately, nobody is there to see it, because they're too busy crying over something I will not reveal. No, really, there's a somber scene at the end of the episode. I will say that it seems to use one of the terrible aspects of this reboot as a way to mask the twist. I can't decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Some might say what Princess does in the next scene is a little out of character for her, but I do like the idea that Princess still has those "hidden depths" from Poorbucks. Also, it reminds me of one of the best Looney Tunes cartoons, and that's probably not a coincidence. Unlike that one, there is a happy ending, though anyone could see it coming.

How does it stack up?

I like the idea of superheroes having to compete in various challenges. Needless to say, this episode is no My Hero Academia, but I wouldn't say this episode is particularly bad, either. Season 2 being slightly better than Season 1 is both a blessing and a curse for this show: this could have been a very low Happy by Season 1 standards. What do you expect in a reality show episode, a Happy Buttercup?

Well, that's Season 2. Season 3 looks like more of the same so far, but we'll see how it goes.

Homura’s Flash Reviews: Spring Season Open 2018

Okay so the spring season started a long ass time ago, but it took me a bit to get caught up!  Here are the anime I started for this season and what I thought about them/if I plan to continue watching them this season! (not including anything I already watched the first cour for, so I won’t talk anymore about Clear Card here for example.  My list is once again based on what TFS is watching for the spring season of Anime FMK, plus one or two things that i just personally wanted to watch.

lostorage conflated WIXOSS

The fourth season of WIXOSS, conflated follows the quest of Kiyoi, a former LRIG desperate to atone for her sins by bringing a final end to the curse of the Selector battles. To achieve this, she approaches multiple former Selectors for their help, even as a darker force brings about the battles once again, with a far more determined focus.

Okay, this is absolutely already the BEST WIXOSS ever.  Kiyoi is an amazing protagonist, and I am such a fucking sucker for shows that bring back the old characters.  I screamed when I saw Ruko appear in the trailers.  The LRIG designs and the animation are up a notch even from incited, and I’m so so so excited to see where this rollercoaster ride takes us, especially since it feels like this could very well be the conclusion of the WIXOSS anime universe.

verdict: I absolutely intend to finish this one and enjoy it every step of the way!!

Comic Girls

Kaos, a young, brand new mangaka, has been struggling to come up with a storyboard that her editor will accept. To help her improve her skills, her editor suggests she move into a dedicated dorm for fellow young mangaka, so that she can learn from them and her experiences.

Okay this is 100% anime bullshit, but it’s pretty tame in comparison to others and honestly...it’s just a fun time, okay?  I’m not gonna act like I didn’t enjoy it.  It was hilarious, the art jokes are relatable as fuck, and yes, okay, i love the cutesy art style.  Meeting all the characters and watching them make different kinds of manga together is adorable and fun and it’s just a lighthearted, funny show.  It reminds me a HECK of a lot of Sunshine Sketch, one of my absolute favorite 4koma, and since that anime adaptation disappointed the heck out of me, this anime is a good substitute! 

verdict: I’m gonna keep up with this one as long as I keep laughing!

Wotakoi: Love Is Hard For Otaku

Narumi had to leave her last job after her ex found out she was an otaku, and now that she’s starting a new job, she’s determined to keep her secret forever--that is, until she finds out her childhood otaku friend works at the same company, and the two of the suddenly begin dating.

This one is fucking hilarious holy shit, and I can’t believe how many real world references to real brands they can make without having to bleep them out.  It’s a little slow in places, but absolutely I’m gonna keep up with this one just because god i need some relatable gag anime sometimes ya know

verdict: gonna keep watching!

Space Battleship Tiramisu

Subaru is Tiramisu’s ace pilot in the great space wars but he’s actually just a fucking nerd who wants to sit in his cockpit all the time

wow okay there’s a lot of gag anime on this list, this one has only 7 minute long episodes which is a blessing because in the end even that was too long.  the jokes were only funny in the first episode and by the third episode with the fucking sexualization and sexism i was just bored out of my fucking skull.

verdict: i’m already dropping it lol

Gegege no Kitaro (2018)

When people start turning into trees in the middle of Shibuya, Mana Inuyama assists a neighborhood friend in sending a letter to Gegege no Kitaro, a yokai who helps humans defend themselves from other yokai. Though she doesn’t believe in yokai herself, Kitaro soon appears and introduces her to the mysterious and dangerous world of yokai.

Okay so apparently this is a HUGE franchise of like, YuYu Hakusho proportions, and this seems to be some kind of reboot.  I had never heard of it in my life although Kitaro looks somewhat familiar, I might have seen him somewhere?  Anyway, this is absolutely still not something I would haved picked up on my own and....it’s....good?????  It’s really good???  The animation is incredible, the character designs are adorable, even the body horror elements are tame enough for me to handle, and I actually really love yokai stories so I’m really loving this take on Japanese myths and legends.  The character interactions and plot honestly aren’t super in depth, but I don’t think it needs to be!  It’s a sweet and cute little kid’s show and I even think the eyeball is cute lol.  

verdict: definitely giving this one this season’s shot!  Looks like it could be looong though so we’ll see how far I go haha

I watched one episode and like it didn’t do anything super offensive, it just...bored me.  Animation was good, I guess the characters were likable even though I’d never watched a Lupin III property before, but the episode felt like kind of a chore to get through tbh.  Not to mention I’m kinda bored of the whole...rogueish flirt and all the girls are super sexual and shit.  Like I’m queer and I don’t really mind seeing boobs sometimes, but when it’s clearly made just for the rogueish flirt and thus the male audience to enjoy, i get bored. the femme fatale thing in old detective-like shows is just not my thing.  I probably would like it more if i had actually seen previous Lupin shows.

verdict: I have enough to watch already so I’m just dropping it now

Hinamatsuri

A successful yakuza’s life goes haywire when a strange metal cocoon containing a small girl appears in his apartment, and he finds that the girl, Hina, is actually a powerful psychic. Somehow, the girl ends up living with him and he ends up becoming a dad.

This show is so fucking cute oh my GOD.  It’s hilarious, the timing is great, the animation is so adorable and well done, Hina is a cutie and I want to adopt her, and I’m such a sucker for dudes who accidentally adopt children.  His relationship with Hina is so cute and there’s absolutely no weird anime shit going on between them, they’re just a dad and daughter in the most unlikely family unit ever and I love it.

verdict: this is the first one since WIXOSS on this list that I’ve been super hyped for so hell yes I’m finishing this one

Golden Kamuy

A former soldier from the Russo-Japanese war, “Immortal” Sugimoto is desperate to find some cash to fulfill a last wish for a friend he lost during the war. When he stumbles across a conspiracy hiding a large amount of gold in the tattoos of several dozen prisoners, he and an Ainu girl Asirpa work together to retrieve the stolen Ainu gold in the harsh Hokkaido wilderness.

I did not expect to enjoy this one as much as I did so far, and it’s really, really interesting.  For starters, the front and center of the Ainu culture is super interesting, something that, to my knowledge, little to no other anime have ever represented. The relationship between Sugimoto and Asirpa is lovely and they’re always treated as being on even footing, and I love hearing Asirpa explain and share her culture with Sugimoto, like their food and hunting techniques.  The overarching story has yet to really hit full force, but that’s okay because these characters are charming as all get out and I’m loving the exchanges between them.  I am a little bit squeamish over some of the blood and guts that show up, but none of it is unrealistically gory, so I can handle it.

verdict: at this point definitely going to watch this one through to the end!

Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These

basically it’s star wars i really don’t know what the plot is besides that, there’s some L/Light dynamic between two of the commanders but other than that it’s star wars

I think this is also a remake of some kind, seems like there’s a lot of remakes on my list this season.  well, 3 episodes in and i’m not sure how i feel about this; i think the space battles are cool and i like tactics and shit, but idk, not really feeling much for the characters atm.

verdict: I think I’ll continue for the time being, but i’ll drop it soon if it doesn’t engage me more within a couple episodes

Megalo Box

I want to make a serious plot summary but it’s so much faster and funnier to just say that it’s 5Ds the Boxing AU, because that is exactly what it is

Anyway idk I don’t love it, i’m not a fan of the muted color palettes and the shonen must-get-stronger-to-punch-and-have-thrill-of-fight thing isn’t always my speed, and also there’s exactly (1) female character which does not endear me to it, but idk i guess there’s something engaging about it.  kinda slow and i just wanna see some more punchiness, there’s a lot of training and technical shiz going on atm.

verdict: I’ll give it a few more episodes but I’m not committed to this one
