- WinTeam Supercut -

To support the series, watch Between Us on Studio Wabi Sabi's official playlist (free cut version), their membership channel (subscription-based uncut version), and iQiYi (subscription-based uncut version).

A while back, I decided to make a WinTeam supercut for myself, and I made a post talking about why. I enjoyed the series overall, but I think there were some aspects that really suffered from the editing decisions, so I'll go through how this edit will differ from the main series.

Couples: This cut only has WinTeam, WanTul, and DeanPharm, since ManaowPruk and BeePrince are unrelated to the main storyline. Flashbacks: I'm a devoted enemy of the flashback, especially when the scene we're flashing back to was fourteen seconds ago. Flashbacks are shorter or removed entirely. Music: I've found an AI tool that separates the vocal and music tracks so I can either isolate the dialogue completely and make the scene quiet or replace the music with something different. Subtitles: I adjusted these only to make them more readable with some native English nuances – I tried to keep them mostly intact because I don't speak Thai, so these are mostly linguistically cosmetic adjustments.

Example: Below is a clip from episode one of the supercut. First, I edited the initial audio when Team approaches Pharm. In the original, when Team walks up, his voice is just as loud both times he calls Pharm's name, but since the scene begins from Pharm's perspective, I wanted to help the transition to Team's perspective by putting a fade-in effect over his first "Pharm?" so it shows how disconnected Pharm feels until Team shows up and calls him back. Also in the original, after Team gets the call from Pharm, there's a long stretch of Pharm having a breakdown intercut with flashbacks to InKorn. I removed all of this as well as the original background music. While searching for a different instrumental track to use, I realized that I'd shortened the scene enough that I could extend the previous scene's instrumental from Until We Meet Again throughout Team and Pharm's scene as well. I cut just enough from the top of the scene that the music swells just as Pharm puts his head on Team's shoulder, emphasizing this sweet moment early in their friendship. To me, the UWMA music felt more thematic than the music in BU, since the scene is about DeanPharm. Like this, it's a fond callback to the original series where most of us were first introduced to these characters. And as a bonus, I was able to place the track just right so that the music gets softer when the camera pans to Win, switching our attention to his perspective right before the scene ends. And that's it! A few simple edits and we have all four characters covered by one of the most iconic tracks from the series that launched them all!

okay so firstly if you want "plot like pluto" i have to shoutout not me, what with that being the first show where film plays the recent-ex of an identical twin who is now in a coma, while their twin impersonates them (and suspects everyone, including film's character, of causing the coma). if i had a nickel for every time etc etc etc- (it's heavy on the social commentary, the main couple are one of the bl great imaginary couples, and the only straight side pairing will actually make you want to commit murder.)

first show i saw film in, and it made me fall in love with her instantly. its the show my header image is from! (my header image and icon being film and love is secretly a reference to the sidepairing-that-wasnt in 2gether, earnpear-)

but otherwise, if we're thinking interesting plot, i'll rec exactly three more, so it's an achievable start:

until we meet again. reincarnation and angst, lots of people will tell you the main pairing is stereotypical seme-uke but i think that's massively overblown! this was the first bl i finished watching (and the second i started) and it's got a really interesting plot! if you care about plot do not watch the sequel series between us - the actors are good but there's nothing there. this one has the main pairing's fluffy sweetness in contrast to the angst of the plot that's attacking them, which i SUSPECT is where pluto is going!

laws of attraction. this show is shorter than uwma, but it's incredibly, incredibly tightly written - you asked for "good pacing" and this show is absolutely perfect in that respect. a little darker than i suspect pluto is going to get, a little heavier, but genuinely an amazing piece of art. and there's background lesbians! so for someone coming from gl that should be nice haha.

finally, the eclipse. i have a tattoo about this show, so-

no wait, i have more to say! people have criticised the pacing, especially in the second half, and there's something in that, but i think a big part of it is actually what the show is trying to do - no spoilers, but the part where the pacing seems weird is exactly because the characters themselves are ignoring... something. and i think the plot is amazing. (obviously. as i have a tattoo about it.)

Honorable mention to the manager who apparently understands what side his bread is buttered on. Better get with the program while the getting is good.

But like the precious little chaos gremlin that he is, Tul was ready and willing to fight for his man. And whew, chile. They wasted zero time getting down to brass tacks at warp speed.

And Wiew, my precious little fiesty tink tink who can do no wrong, is so adorably wholesome. It's just too much. May the universe never consider touching him because I will throw hands.

We got Dean and Pharm on the beach, which is giving me UWMA war flashbacks and I was so emotional for such a ridiculously short scene.

And the call back to marriage in the US with Pharm's mom is just....

I really hope Pruek eats his Wheaties and prepares himself because Manow is so extra 24/7, 365, and she is gonna be the life and death of him in the best possible way.

I'm glad that she is finally getting some acting gigs and now we can see yet another round of Supportive BF staring the most underrated king.

And piece de resistance, the softest sassy boys, the Consent Kings.

Oh Team, oh baby. Let it out. You poor thing. So much therapy. But look at you verbalizing your pain instead of burying it.

Also, I've said it once and I will say it again:

Win, being Win, giving no fucks and all the love. So soft for Team and its giving me very normal reactions. The carry had me cackling especially when I think of all the times it happened in fan meetings, events, and variety shows. Ya boy was ready.

And don't think we didn't see that pampas grass arch and beach wedding set up. We see y'all.

And we both know that if Thailand allowed it, Win would have married Team on the spot and worried about telling the family later.

And OMG, the announcement bait and switch.

The ending was iconic and perfect in the way that only Between Us could justify delivering as the ending.

Between us presents us the chaotic trio with Win, Dean and Tul. It's so iconic how Dean and Win try to give Tul some advice when their situations are no better or not even close to normal.

Dean is a reborn soul who luckily found his reborn soulmate after having post-traumatic nightmares his entire life.

Win started his relationship as friends with benefits but somehow there's some trauma involved as well and now nobody is confessing their love for 6 episodes and his relationship has not moved on ever since.

Tul developed a crush after some online gaming, met that crush and never told said person about all of this. Like somehow, his situation is the most normal and somehow most pitiful one.

WinTeam just annoys me at this point and I don't want them to actually end up together any more. It's stretched in very unnecessary ways and they keep on not talking or remembering flashbacks that happened in episode 5 that now carry the same (empty) meaning whatsoever. Their relationship develops really slowly and not steadily. My point is, if Win confesses now or would have confessed many weeks ago does not make a difference and carries the exact same weight because all that happened in between was that they got used to sleeping in one bed.

Okay, Dean and Pharm are endgame nevertheless but I still feel the same cringe I felt during UWMA.

Tul and Wan are the only couple (out of these three) that doesn't act awkward or dramatic. They sure are equally complicated but it doesn't bore or urk me.

Between Us the Series!

It’s real! It’s happening!

Gosh, what a thing.

Waiting throughout a global pandemic, never knowing when it would happen, or what it would look like. Watching BounPrem repeatedly entreat their fans not to leave them and then apologize that they had nothing to offer except gratitude that people were staying with them anyway. There was a time we didn’t even know who would be cast for Wan and View! We didn’t even know what they’d be like as characters, really! Wan was in a few novel scenes, but View only had one!

We hardly knew anything at all about WinTeam’s parents. In the novel, Win’s mom seems lovely, but Team only has a phone call with his mom that didn’t reveal anything important about her as a person. We had no idea Team’s parents would be among the warmest and most loving in the Thai BL parent pantheon.

We didn’t know how long the series would span, and whether it’d surpass UWMA’s timeline or not. We didn’t know, and still don’t know, how it’ll end. Because the novel is incomplete. So we knew enough going in to expect certain scenes from the novel, but far from everything.

I just woke up and immediately had this out-of-body memory to summer of 2021 and winter of 2020 and spring of 2020 before we had confirmation. And I remember trying to imagine what we’d get when the time finally came. Watching BounPrem get closer and trust each other more and more, knowing they’d put everything they had into the roles and that, no matter what else, the series would be iconic because of their passion and devotion.

And they did. They channeled so much energy and thought and feeling into WinTeam. Requested retakes until it became a story to tell social media, determined to get as close to perfection as possible. Even paying for an add-on scene after filming wrapped because there are some things in life that you want to carry with you forever, and sometimes you have to go above and beyond to make those things happen.

It just feels wonderful to be living through the airing of a series I had such high hopes for. A series that’s long-since surpassed all of them. 🤍

hiiii anon!!! yeah no the real line is "be brave about it", so idk WHYYYY they're using "man up" instead. be brave about it holds the entire ESSENCE of team and win's relationship. especially if you've watched uwma, win keeps on telling team over and over and over again throughout the show "to be brave", which is why that line holds so much significant meaning and value! it's one of their most iconic lines and they over at sws KNOW this. "man up" just PALES in comparison and doesnt do it. especially when this whole scene in the kanchanaburi trip is a MAJOR step in team and win's relationship. "man up" just sounds so lazy and cheap.

ughhhh i just hope its not used and they stick with the original and do use "be brave about it" instead.
