1. What is your sexuality?

Demisexual! For those who don’t know, someone who is Demisexual are those who only become sexually (and romantically for some, like me) attracted to people only after a strong bond and/or connection is formed with those people. People who are Demisexual can become attracted to anyone of any orientation and/or gender, just as long as that connection has stably formed. This is not to be confused with Pansexuality or “any other relationship**”. Usually, those who are Pansexual or identify with other sexualities very easily feel attraction to others and can usually act on it just as easily, this can range from actual people that they are involved with or simply talking about celebrity crushes, etc. However, Demisexuality is on the Ace Spectrum and we literally feel nothing over anything until that bond is formed, and if that bond is broken, the cycle will repeat until another one is formed. As a matter of fact, research has shown that someone who is demi-orientated may only have up to 1-2, possibly 3 partners in their entire lifetime due to the extreme dependency on that bond—not to mention how long it usually takes to establish a deep connection with someone in the first place—until you feel comfortable enough to show embrace/show your attraction to them, and to know, actually act on it. So, yeah! That’s me!

2. What gender do you identify as?

The concept of gender has always been a big wtf to me personally ever since I was a little bean, but overall I comfortably identify with female-ness. But when the dysphoria days are particularly difficult I want to reject anything that could be attached or associated with my body and be entirely neutral. Sometimes I’m fine embracing my more masculine traits and I’m comfortable identifying as such. Somedays, it’s just a big “MEH” and I’d just rather be a octopus tbqh. A neutral, carefree cephalopod shuffling across the ocean floor to find me girlfriend!!

3. How long have you been aware of your sexuality/gender?

It took me about most of my life to finally figure it out, but as we bothknow, you helped me with that right. No more confusion, no more feeling like something was wrong with me, no more feeling I was cold-hearted or that I was an android who just turned out more human-convincing in final production. Everything I had struggled with up until then suddenly made sense, and I found clarity thanks to you

5. Share a positive memory about coming out!

Omg half positive, and hilarious. When I finally felt ready/safe enough to tell my parents about our relationship, they just initially sat there confused BECAUSE THEY ALREADY THOUGHT WE WERE TOGETHER THIS ENTIRE TIME BECAUSE OF HOW LONG WE’VE KNOWN EACHOTHER AND HOW MUCH TIME I SPEND SKYPING WITH YOU RIP. And then Mom followed up with “So you are a Lesbian?” and just..fghjkl mom plz. After knowing that my parents approved and accepted it, nothing anyone else could say mattered and I was able to publicly brag announce our relationship on social platforms and (despite coming from a very small, conservative town) everyone responded positively and with their support! That was one of the happiest moments of my life

10. Who has been your supportive idols in your self discovery?

..You count, right? Yeah, you totally count! If it weren’t for you, I don’t doubt that I’d still be a confused, extremely repressed and destructive mess forced to live in the heteronormativity of my area and a life of unhappiness. You’ve made such an impact to my life in so many ways, and this is one of the top things. So, thank you so much for that

11. Tell us about your first crush?

I’m answering her right now feel like a normal person. When I realized that I had a crush on you it was just…wow. During the time it was pretty rough of course due to my self-perception and the fear of my feelings (as well as the ability to feel) and fear of hurting you due to them, so that undoubtedly hurt us both along the way. That aside, and looking how far we’ve come, I knew the crush on you was real from all of the happy and lovely things that I would suddenly feel, actually feel, anytime that I thought about you or got to talk to you. And, I just…fell more and more in love with you as each day spent with you passed

12. What sort of advice do you have for LGBTQ teens?

If if were to lend advice, it would definitely be things that I wish were told to me when I was younger in order to save them years of confusion, fear and possible hatred towards themselves. It might sound corny or cliche af, but as young people going down the scary path of self-discovery in a world full of hate, these are things I’m sure they would like to hear: “It’s going to be okay, you’re going to be okay. There’s nothing wrong with you nor what you’re feeling. If it feels right to you, then that’s what is right. And most importantly, you’re not alone.” Also, I would aguide them to thorough resources in order to help them better understand themselves.

17. What’s your biggest pet peeve when it comes to LGBTQ characterization in media?

THE LACK OF IT FOR FUCK’S SACK. If it’s not the lack of it, then it’s mostly the stereotypical and/or fetisized portrayal LGBTQIA+ characters or couples, or even worse, a fairly decent portrayal and then that infamous GAY DEATH AFTER DEVELOPMENTAL ESTABLISHMENT. Oh it really grinds my gear, and trust me, I’m not the only one (not to mention I know you feel the same fghjkl). I have little patience and tolerance for the characterization in media which is why I hardly ever invest in it, and instead, invest in your and my stories in order to obtain that representation and diversity that we crave, as well as simply search for other LGBTQIA+ artists for proper content.

18. What’s your favorite parts of LGBTQ characterization in media?

WHEN THERE’S HEALTHY PORTRAYAL AND THEY BOTH LIVE. Aside from our stories, shows with content like Legend of Korra and Steven Universe are the reason why I live and breathe in that sense. If I had shows like these when I was a kid it’d be a fucking dream come true to see relationships like this normalized, I’m so glad these exist for this generation.

19. What did your teachers say about the LGBTQ community in school?

Being from aforementioned small, conservative area, no one throughout my whole elementary to high school life ever mentioned about the LGBTQIA+ community. It wasn’t until college that it was a topic for some and it’s kinda sad how floored I was. Relieving, but sad realizing that it was probably the same for many others too. There was this hardass professor in one of my Sociology classes once—who is honestly one of my favorites—and firmly spoke about the validity of the LGBTQIA+ community. I can’t really remember his speech since it’s been years now, but one line at the end that has stuck with me to this day was, “No one chooses to be ostracized.” It helped me affirm my beliefs, and I use that as one of my points in debates when I have to. No one just chooses to be someone in this community, you are who you are.

20. Do you practice safe sex with the same gender?

R U FCKIN SRS. I didn’t realize this was in the questions fghjkl I mean…Communication and your consent during sex no matter what we do is very important to me and an utmost priority. No matter if it’s the kinky shit or even vanilla, I’m going to make sure you’re okay as well as okay with it, so yes?? You little cheeky sassage asdfgjk

26. Favorite LGBTQ actor/actress?

Oh, gods. Since I don’t invest in the media as mentioned above I have no idea about all the LGBTQIA+ actors/actress out there fghjkl ;;;;; But even then it’s not like they get much coverage to begin with as infuriating as that is. That being said I don’t particularly have any favorites so uuum…There are a few at the top of my head that I have respect for, like Uncle Takei, maybe Neil Patrick Harris and Ellen Page?? And I’ve recently discovered actresses such as Jamie Clayton and Laverne Cox who I’m rooting for in the showbusiness?? Gods, I’m so out of touch with media fghjkl DO YOU HAVE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS

28. What is the most annoying question you have ever gotten?

I’ve never really gotten direct questions, per se, more like assumptions. All through highschool and the early years of college I’ve had to hear from a friend of mine that people have assumed about my sexuality, have assumed that her and I were a thing (simply because we hung out all the time) and talked about it behind my back it instead, you know, just asking me upfront. Or, after I got out of a bad relationship with an Ex (and before I got with the the love of my life decided not be with anyone because of how he treated me and just need to get out there to find a guy who will treat me right, or that I’m just being “picky” and “antisocial”. Given, I have someone now who treats me right, but the foundation of that is having had developed our longlasting bond and relationship prior to our romantic relationship.

**Also, when I’ve tried to explain the concept of my sexuality to others to help them understand they’re like, “Oh, just like anyone else.” or something along those lines without fully comprehending and it’s like…no. You feel attraction at any time you want if they fit your preference. You can just go out and flirt, date, even just casually have sex if you really wanted to. I can’t do that. I can’t feel or do anything unless I have that bond. And, when I have that bond, which I do, I don’t have eyes for anyone else. Literally. Even if it’s harmlessly talking about celebrities or other actual people from above or simply saying that they’re “cute” or “hott” or something. You can go on and on about why they may be, whereas I feel absolutely nothing and would need to take a solid moment to objectively consider why they could be perceived as attractive.Other than that, the only one who has my attention, attraction, interest, and heart is my girlfriend. The only one who lights my fire!!!
