Dante x Half Angel S/O headcannons

-A devil and an angel's romance, a classic, almost always forbidden love story.

Before you knew it, your form changed; you sprouted giant, feathery wings and your skin started glowing. Dante's eyes flew open in shock, and he beheld your radiant self in awe.

-From that point on, he never doubted your combat prowess again, and with extended practice, you learned to Trigger at will, much like how Dante's Devil Trigger works.

-Your Angel Trigger has the power to heal any and all wounds in a matter of seconds, regardless of the magnitude or location of the injury. It's a very handy ability that is more than appreciated during missions.

-When you're in your Trigger, you emit a lot of light, meaning that in extreme cases (like when Dante forgets to pay the utility bills again) you can function as a living lamp when the power's out.

-Loves to rub his face in your wings cause they're just so fluffy!

-When he has nightmares/gets too drunk and starts remembering bad memories from his past, he will snuggle up with you because your presence comforts him.

-He can't explain it, there's just something about you that soothes and relaxes him. Must be attributed to your angelic blood...

The Evealia Guide Through Babel (event) - Part I

Wow, who would've ever thought that I have more enthusiasm to talk about the Babel event and that, which has to do with the Sarkaz race, than I do with literally anything else.

I have 0 excuses. So I shall provide none.

This is the personalized (read: for me) guide through the Babel event in Arknights, with a provided story explanation/synopsis and a run-down on the event characters/media.

Gorgeous medals by the way, there's something within me that screams and years for them. Maybe it's because I've been playing this game for two, running towards three years and I'm attached to the Sarkaz. I'm attached to Theresa and Babel and can't wait to see how this event could possibly change my opinion of Theresis and Manfred.

(Warning: The following post will contain spoilers for the event, as well as commentary on my experience. Thank you for reading.)

With all that said, I think I'm going to go through the characters first. We're happy to welcome four new Operators who would happily join Rhodes Island: Lutonada, Odda, Aroma and Ascalon.

Only one of them we already know about from the Main Theme Chapter 13; Only two of them will be relevant to the story.

So let's start with the one we won't be mentioning ever again - Lutonada.

A new 4-star juggernaut defender from Bolivar. You can see her unique in that she is the first 4-star character of this class. Alongside her are Mudrock, Penance and Vulcan. To be fair, it's a spicy- I meant, it's a pricy class, with most of the characters costing over 30DP to deploy; making it tricky to use early if you don't have at least two flag Vanguards and difficult to leave alone if they're not Mudrock.

Juggernauts are special also with their inability to be healed, making it detrimental for them to have their own type of healing in their kit. Lutonada heals when an enemy she is blocking dies. That makes her S2 the most important skill, because according to the numbers - it charges pretty fast and its mechanic is basically: >Pull enemy towards self via magnets >Block >???? >Heal Pretty easy to use and I, as a fan of Empowered Attacks, love her S1 because those sweet, sweet 230% damage on an attack for every 3 seconds on her M3 sound very nice.

Should you build her? Personally, the downside to her is that as a 4-star she has significantly less HP than Penance and Mudrock, but you can practically ignore the 200HP difference between her and Vulcan. The same can be said about their attack and defence (ALL of this at E2).

Dr. Eve will always support your simple, carnal desires above all else. You want her? Did you pull her? Then build her. To bypass the Juggernaut's inability to be healed, you can always snatch either a Perfumer, Angelina (E2 perk), Suzuran (S3), or Blemishine (S2) who all have passive healing on all allies under some conditions, or you can use a Bard supporter like Heidi, Skalter and Sora.

Her Module is kind of... Eh? For all the cost you throw, she recovers 20% HP when an enemy blocked by her dies. It does sound like a lot, but I'm not sure if it means exactly what I think it does. I wanted her but didn't get her. Hope the little ratscal joins my ship eventually.

NB: Forgot to mention - her push force is 0 for her S2 and so far it doesn't seem to change with Masteries. Keep that in mind.

Next up we have Aroma, this is our new 5-star Blast Caster - on the same road as Corroserum and Ifrit.

The difference between her utility and Corroserum's (I won't talk about Ifrit, because she is practically the best, most aggressive Blast Caster you can find) is within the effects of their abilities. Numbers aren't really that important here, because they're both 5-stars.

What is important to note is that while Corroserum's S1 is practically unwanted because of his 10s stun duration, his S2 is helpful because it silences the enemies for 5 seconds max at M3.

Meanwhile, Aroma deals extra ARTS damage on her S1 + she deals additional damage to AERIAL targets. It's pretty helpful but practically feels useless, because rare are the times we have aerial targets line up perfectly and for long enough to fit inside her range. Unless she is used to taking down aerial targets when they float.

Her S2 just does additional damage to enemies who have been Levitated - props to her talent. The other people who levitate so far are Chongyue, Irene, Ho'olheyak, Quanipalaat and Odda.

I... am... Not sure if her Module expands her range like the other Blast Casters'? But it sounds like it should, it would be unfair otherwise. I'm leaving it for you to decide if you want this, but it's surprisingly easy to build material-wise.

Which brings us to our second before last Operator, the free character in the Event whom you can get with just 40% of all the currency you'll be getting. It's a long story.

First in many things, Odda is an unseen before Earthshaker Guard. That role is kind of like Dreadnought guards, but they can block two enemies from the get-go and they do an AOE attack each basic attack.

Him, I actually got all the tickets to and dropped Ash to build. He has an empowered attack for his S1 which ends up at a chargetime of whooping 2 seconds!!! It extends the splash area as well with .5 tiles, so... He does damage of 1.5 tiles additionally.

Unlike Lutonada, Odda's S2 has Levitate with a weight of 3 or less for 0.5 seconds on each splash attack.

He doesn't have any Modules so far, but I personally have gotten attached to him through the story. I want to mention that unlike what I've noticed, his story says he is a Messenger from Kazdel. I thought it was interesting this bean with a gargantuan hammer is intended to... run around as fast as he can.

And finally, I almost forgot, we have Ascalon - our very dedicated Ambusher Specialist. At least that's what is said about her, but I heard that practically even Ethan is better in certain aspects.

I didn't like Ascalon when we first met her, even though her design was amazing.

Passively, her talent slows the Movement Speed of enemies and they take Ascalon's ATK as ARTS damage per second for 18/25 seconds (E1/E2). In her E2 she gets more ASPD and gains even more (wow, 8+6) if there is high ground in the 4 adjacent tiles.

Looks like this is the patch for enhanced attacks because Ascalon does 210% additional damage to an enemy, attacking twice and stores up to 3 charges in her M3 for S1.

Her S2 gives her +130% ATK, slows enemies by 60% if they are on the ground and in attack range and inflicts her T1 (the poison-esque damage) on nearby enemies when defeated. The radius of this 'nearby' means 1.3 tiles away. And it's specified that the MS reduction works on Aerial targets too, but the Talent effect is applied only to ground units.

Finally, to top it off, her range expands and she attacks faster and reduces the Physical and Arts hit rate of ground enemy units by 50%. She's more likely to be targeted by enemies, but recovers 8% MAX HP when she manages to dodge.

Her S1 gets increased, that's all.

Right. Everybody should be on the list. Now, to my favourite part of events - watching the YT videos that are meant to introduce the event for us.

First came the Official Babel Trailer.

Here is a script I very painstakingly made of everything written on the screen, because I'm unfortunately not that fast of a reader. During my scripting, I also noticed that the last line... is almost impossible to notice because the screen cracks and glitches when it shows up. I didn't notice it the first two times I watched it for my own pleasure.

Last on the list for today is the furniture set: 'Scar Market Memories' A room modeled after the Scar Market based on the Sarkaz mercenaries' descriptions. The market was known for its disorder and disarray. Its visual appearance was established by a Cyclops who had been in charge for several decades.

I really like this one, it fits so well with Hoederer's furniture pack because they're both very... Sarkaz. By Sarkaz, I mean that they look like a hole you could've dug up to live in. Kind of cosy, kind of sad. Like anything Sarkaz we're about to learn.

Before we jump in, I know little to nothing about the Macross franchise. All I know is there are spaceships that turn to mechs and that the U.S audience knows it as Robotech. That's it, that's all I know.

With that in mind, I'm jumping into Macross - Shooting Insight with the freshest of fresh opinions. I have no ties to the property, no knowledge of the lore, and my overall review will have that working against it. However, what I lack in franchise knowledge, I can speak for the casual demographic in whether or not you want this game or want to pursue Macross as a franchise.

As strictly a gameplay experience, I enjoyed my time with Shooting Insight for the most part. If you're familiar with space shooters or "bullet hell" shooters like Gradius and Life Force, you'll be at home here. It's a pure space shooter where you take out enemies, while dodging their fire. There are boss fights and stages where you have to take out enemy satellites for some variety but most of your adventures will be top-down, and shooting at enemy ships. It's classic, simple (the concept, not the difficulty) and satisfying.

If you opt for the game's story mode, you'll have the option to choose between 5 different character-led campaigns each with their own unique stats. I tried to get into the story of the characters I chose, but I'm so out of the loop on the story and lore, I ended up skipping the scenes to get straight into the gameplay. If you're a non-fan like me, just dive into the arcade mode and save yourself the trouble, which is what I should've done in the first place but I'm a numbskull.

The presentation of the game is nice, the 2.5D environments, character models, ships, and music are all pretty solid and show there was some money behind it's production. Nothing ever felt "stock" and all the assets presented felt unique to the game and it's lore. Performance was pretty solid for the most part, but during bossfights or big explosions there is some stuttering.

The game controls well and while I prefer a joystick for a more immersive experience with these kinds of games, the Switch controls worked fine. I enjoyed the mech segments where you could utilize both sticks - the left to accelerate and right to turn. It wasn't used enough but in the times it's available it's fun.

I was impressed at the amount of content offered. Five campaigns, both story mode and arcade mode, galleries, boss mode, and tons of collectables. There's a good number of things here for completionists to enjoy ensuring you get your time and money's worth.

Macross is well made but there are annoyances I had during my playthrough. My biggest issue with the game is the absolute stone-cold difficulty. Macross - Shooting Insight is not an easy game.

You have a lifebar but enemy attacks does big damage. You can dodge enemy fire with the "A" button but more times than not, I would dodge one bullet just to end up being hit by another. In place of powerups is a collectable system where you catch gems from destroyed ships to level up the damage you can do. If you don't fully level up your firepower, the gauge will deplete until you can acquire more gems. It may be outside of the lore of Macross, but we really could've benefited from some powerups like shields or different modes of firepower for both variety and to give the player a chance against the enemy.

You do have missiles and the ability to call in a screen-clearing strike, but once your gauge is empty, the ability is gone. You can change your difficulty but there's not a proper balance. Even the "easy" mode is pretty rough, but if you select "very easy" the game gets a Fischer-price level "Nerf". It's almost as if the devs are like "ok, you want to be a baby and not get good? we're going to treat you like a baby". It's pretty funny but its idea for players who want to chill while they play and take in the story and setting.

Another thing that got on my nerves was the weird singing power up during gameplay. I can't remember how it would happen but you would get a defense buff (I think) and the screen would get all pink and glittery while a J-Pop song would play, obstructing your view and catching you off guard. With a game as difficult as this, this was totally not needed, lore faithful or not and it almost always got me killed.

My first Macross game was enjoyable overall and it does make me want to seek out the show and see what I'm missing out on. As a pure gameplay experience, It's ok but not something I'm going to endure the extreme difficulty to come back to.

Against it's 40$ price-point, I recommend casuals get it on sale if you're into space shooters. This game is more for hardcore fans of Macross and they're going to be the ones to get the most out of it.

Overclocked! is my idea for a strategy roleplaying game (combining a visual novel with tactical/strategy combat throughout) - sort of like Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics, or Into the Breach, if you've ever played any of those games. If you haven't, you can imagine each combat as a chessboard, if a chessboard sometimes interrupted movement with difficult terrain. Usually the goal is to move your characters across the chessboard, eliminating all enemies or a leader enemy to win the match and advance the story. Outside of combat, you can wander around your 'camp' to talk to your NPC companions, build rapport, and learn more about the story at large!

This story would follow 7 AI who find themselves on a spaceship, the Independent Variable, headed toward an extinct alien planet:

Tex (he/him), the Trapper -- and the player character!

Peaches (she/her), the Bomber

Merit (he/him), the Utility

Nova (she/her), the Dynamo

Prime (he/xe), the Pyro

Gali (they/them), the Floe

Democritus (he/him), the onboard AI - unlike the other characters, he doesn't have a mobile platform body and is housed literally inside the ship itself, controlling and piloting it.

The player, as Tex, is awoken by Democritus during a missile alert and instructed to wake the other bots. Turns out the extinct alien planet they're going to isn't so extinct after all... well, the aliens themselves are long dead, but they've left behind defensive robots to guard their ancient ruins. With the other bots awake and the missile robots defeated, Democritus explains that they were built to retrieve an ancient artifact from this dead world, one that could potentially bring about world peace: an alien AI whose purpose was to govern politics, the economy, and prevent war. To get it though, they will first have to fight through the planet's remaining defenses to collect parts of the artifact that have been scattered across the globe.

As they travel across the dead world, however, they start to realize that things aren't quite adding up. Some horrible truths are revealed about the aliens, the world, and the crew of the Independent Variable itself. Choices have to be made, which can lead to one of three different endings I have planned: the happy ending, the scattered ending, and... the worst ending.

More under the cut because I got really excited answering and this might be a bit long. Oops.

Each of the six 'Power' bots has unique capabilities split into two categories: Mechanical (Trapper, Bomber, Utility) and Thermodynamic (Dynamo, Pyro, Floe). Mechanical Powers focus on your 'typical' kinetic forces: hitting stuff really hard or tripping things up. Thermodynamic Powers are more like magic!

First up: team Mechanical! As the Trapper, Tex is fast, maneuverable, and great at battle field control, capable of leading enemies into well-laid traps like trip mines. Peaches, the Bomber, is... well. A bomber. Her main weapon is a grenade launcher that launches wire pods to deal damage and entangle enemies. What more could you want in a Bomber? Then Merit, as the Utility, is your strongest healer and buff support guy (pun intended on 'buff' - the guy is bara as hell). He's the one most capable of causing the other Power bots to overclock (i.e., land critical hits)!

And Team Thermodynamic! Nova, the Dynamo, is your go-to gal for a rocket-powered punch that leaves enemies quaking in their boots with dangerous electric currents. Prime, the Pyro, of course has a flamethrower, but is also capable of overheating enemy units such that they can just fall apart in a gust of wind. Gali, the Floe, is a sniper with pinpoint accuracy for freezing enemies out of their abilities, movement, or life itself. Probably the term Thermodynamic makes a bit more sense here now: electricity, hot, and cold "magic!"

While each Power bot starts off in their own niche of tactics, as the course of the game progresses and each bot levels up, they all learn new abilities that are more aligned with different strategies - DPS, healing, battlefield control, etc., - so that even if you lose one bot in the course of a battle, the others can fill in that niche a little bit.

Luckily, even if you do lose a bot, you can bring them back after the fight is over! After all, they're robots, they can be rebuilt! Luckily, no memories are lost in the course of a rebuild, so they can all keep on trucking until they acquire the treasure: the alien AI that can bring about world peace!

Do game genres live and die? Do they go through a ‘renaissance’ and never see their good ol’ glorious days, ever? Well, real-time stealth strategy genre is not that ‘alive’ these days, it is sad to see and acknowledge that AAA games pump up gamers for non-stop action so much that if a player does not feel ‘entertained’ for a short span just watching the trailer, the game does not ‘appeal’ to them anymore. Shadow Gambit presents a flawless real-time stealth experience here and it will be last of its kind as it stands, since Mimimi Games announced that the studio will be shut down in December 2023, just two weeks after the release. And the studio is defunct at the time of writing this review. The industry lost a valuable team with great skills. Let this be an ode to them. Ahoy! Set your sails!

Shadow Gambit, in a nutshell, is a real-time stealth and strategy game set in alternate history in fictionalised Lost Caribbean, where we play as resurrected crew members of a magical ship named Red Marley. The first character we play as is Afia, she is a ragtag pirate whose chest is penetrated by a sword. Our goal as a crew is to steal magical artefacts and eliminate all the Inquisition members along the way in numerous islands. The game has a great pace in terms of introducing new crew members as well. Since each crew member has unique abilities and skillset, you want to make sure you are utilizing them to the max, for example some characters can swim, some of them can climb up vines. When it comes to active abilities, Afia, the starting character, can instantly teleport to a nearby location and stab an enemy, freeze an enemy temporarily. Another character is like a sharpshooter with her sniper that can take out enemies from afar, and blind enemies with smoke. The game makes sure that you get familiar with newly-unlocked character’s abilities, you are directly taken to an area where the game teaches you abilities in a tutorial. As you progress, the islands get bigger and more complex, therefore you have to strategize your approach and select your crew accordingly. 

Now, let’s meet Red Marley. She is sort of the soul of the ship, more like ‘essence of it’, she is not the owner of it. There are more souls besides her, and she acts like a captain of the ship that acts like a vessel of the ship’s identity. We get to interact with her all the time on the ship and she is the one who bestows us with a fantastic present, the ability to wind time, a subject I’ll get back to later.

If I said that each and every island felt extremely unique and the atmosphere they have are all exquisite, it would be an understatement. Not only islands themselves are unique, but they include different themes and atmospheres within them. Let’s take a look the video below where you can see this island has totally different vibes, some areas are more dark and gritty, the areas covering it are much more alive and teeming with colours objects, buildings and plants, also you get this much rocky areas and flat ones. All this world-building is so well-designed and well-thought that I am just amazed, you have so many possible crew-combo and your approach. 

You get to choose your landing spot as well, this also adds additional depth to the experience because you’re always figuring out for which spot your crew are most equipped to.

The gameplay is focused on real-time stealth and constantly considering your next move, yet you have more options, firstly, you can always freeze the game and and give commands to characters and execute them simultaneously, especially when you’re making moves with multiple characters at the same time, one character taking an enemy, another throwing a smoke bomb and stun, and the other one distracting an enemy so he does not alarm other members of the Inquisition. On top of this, Red Marley presents you the ability to rewind time, which is quick-save. Thanks to this ability, you can always quick-save the game whenever you wish to do so, and can rewind the time to any moment of that level. Since you can quick-save as much as you want, you have complete freedom to try out an approach and if you fail, just rewind time and try your luck in a different way. With this feature, the game never feels “punishing”, you know that if you cannot clear a room of enemies then you must be doing something wrong such as timing, not utilising all of your unique abilities or positioning. 

As you unlock new islands you are presented with an intro video for them which is pretty neat because you walkthrough the island in the video and can take a look at the landmarks and see the island’s size and general locations, each intro video is produced with utmost care and own narration.

Lastly, I’d like share a 5-minute long opening video, where I am trying to come up with an approach so as to how to initiate a fight right at the beginning and work my path along the way, trying to make use of character abilities as much as I can.
