Due to an increase in costs, my electric bill for January is $350. I need to get this much by the 18th or my power will be disconnected.
My mom and I have scraped together $200, but I still need the remaining balance. If anyone could help, I would appreciate it. Even if it's $1, or a reblog.
I can provide proof if needed and will also give my cash app/venmo in a private message.
Thank you. I'm so ashamed.

ya gorl is strugglin
So, since leaving my position with a newspaper in the spring because I was Spiraling™, I've been freelancing editorial work and data entry, but it's no longer keeping up with the bills.
I'm also not insured, and until my application processes in January I won't be able to pay for my prescriptions.
I greatly prefer offering to write something on commission ($10 for 1K, expounded on here) but I'm in dire enough straits to ask for any aid anyone can give.

Check to see if your utility companies offer discounts for being poor.
I just got 25% off my gas bill for the next two years. My electric provider has a similar program, and I'm going to be signing up for that next.
If you can't find information directly from your utility providers, check with local community action agencies for assistance.

A comprehensive guide to utility bill types from different companies
Utility bills are a regular part of life for most individuals and households, as they encompass essential services like electricity, water, gas, and more. However, not all utility bills are the same. Different utility companies employ various billing structures and methodologies, making it essential for consumers to understand the types of utility bills they might encounter. In this article, we will explore the diverse utility bill types from different companies and shed light on their characteristics, benefits, and potential drawbacks.
Fixed-Rate Billing
Fixed-rate billing is a popular utility billing method used by many companies. With this billing type, consumers pay a predetermined, fixed amount each month, regardless of their actual consumption. The utility company calculates the average usage based on historical data or estimated usage for a particular household. Fixed-rate billing offers predictability and stability, making budgeting easier for consumers, especially during extreme weather conditions when consumption might vary significantly.
Pros:
Predictable monthly payments.
Eases budget planning.
Insulation from consumption fluctuations.
Cons:
Consumers may overpay if their actual usage is consistently lower than the fixed amount.
The company might review and adjust the fixed rate annually, leading to potential cost fluctuations.
Tumblr media
Variable-Rate Billing
In contrast to fixed-rate billing, variable-rate billing takes the actual consumption into account. The utility company determines the bill amount based on the quantity of services used during the billing period. Variable-rate billing is typically denoted as price per unit (e.g., cost per kWh for electricity). This billing method is common for electricity and water services.
Pros:
Fairer billing, as consumers only pay for the services they use.
Encourages energy and resource conservation.
Allows consumers to take advantage of lower prices during off-peak periods.
Cons:
Monthly bills may vary significantly, making budgeting more challenging.
Vulnerability to price fluctuations, especially during peak demand periods.
Tiered-Rate Billing
Tiered-rate billing is another prevalent method employed by utility companies, especially for electricity. In this system, consumers are charged at different rates based on their usage levels. The billing structure consists of multiple tiers, each with a specific rate per unit of service. The more services used, the higher the rate per unit may become. This encourages conservation and provides cost incentives for using fewer resources.
Pros:
Rewards energy-efficient behaviors.
Provides flexibility for consumers to choose their usage levels.
Helps reduce overall consumption and environmental impact.
Cons:
Consumers may find it challenging to monitor their usage within each tier effectively.
Higher rates for increased consumption may lead to unexpected bill spikes.
Tumblr media
Time-of-Use (TOU) Billing
Time-of-Use (TOU) billing charges consumers based on the time of day they use the services. The day is divided into peak, off-peak, and shoulder periods, each with its own rate per unit. This billing type aims to manage peak demand, encourage energy conservation during high-usage hours, and promote the utilization of renewable energy sources.
Pros:
Encourages energy conservation during peak hours.
Fosters the use of renewable energy during optimal production times.
Can lead to cost savings for consumers who adjust their usage habits.
Cons:
Consumers may find it inconvenient to schedule activities around rate fluctuations.
TOU rates might not align with consumers' lifestyles and work schedules.
Conclusion
Understanding the different utility bill types from various companies is crucial for consumers to manage their expenses effectively. Fixed-rate billing offers predictability but may lead to overpayments, while variable-rate billing can be fairer but may result in fluctuating monthly bills. Tiered-rate billing and Time-of-Use billing aim to incentivize conservation and the use of renewable energy sources but require consumers to adapt their usage habits accordingly.
Before choosing a utility company or billing type, consumers should consider their energy consumption patterns, lifestyle, and financial preferences. Armed with knowledge about the various billing structures, consumers can make informed decisions to strike a balance between convenience, cost, and environmental responsibility.

I have an Avon store
I totally forgot about that. I set it up back in May as a potential side hustle, but it never really took off. I also attempted to do commissions, but that didn't take off either, unfortunately. I am always open for commissions, I have reasonable rates, and I will do all that I can to make sure that YOU are satisfied.
And if you're into skincare and stuff like that, shoot me a message and I can give you my Avon store link. No pressure for either, of course. Just trying to see what I can do to scrape together some money.
