Hey i hope it's ok to ask, but is CONVENIA safe for cats? My cat got it for a uti and she seems fine, improved drastically within hours but after day one, she's still really sleepy and not eating much. I assumed it was normal cause..antibotics, but online there's literal groups and pages talking about how this antibotic is deadly and dangerous ?? I'm so confused. Is this true?
Sorry for the delay in answering this ask, but I hope your kitty is doing well. Convenia (drug name Cefovecin) is a broad spectrum antibiotic that is used quite a bit in the veterinary field (at least in the USA), and has been for some time. This medication is used very often in cats as a long-acting injectable treatment is easier for many cat owners to manage than daily oral medications. Due to it being such a common first line antibiotic choice for cats we have a good deal of data on this drug, and many studies suggest that Convenia is pretty safe even at high doses. No medication is 100% safe, and there will always be animals that have unexpected reactions to a drug, but there is good data to support this is not common with Convenia. What I worry about more with this particular drug is its overuse and the potential for antibiotic resistance, but that’s a conversation for a different time!
I know it’s disconcerting to see online groups claim that a medication kills pets but honestly you can find this kind of group for pretty much every medication, supplement, surgery, and therapy out there. When I was prescribed Ciprofloxacin by my doctor, I stumbled upon a Facebook group claiming this entire class of antibiotics is poisonous and causes lifelong issues. No drug is without risk but many of the people in these groups assume a cause and effect relationship where none is present.
Thank you for reaching out and please don’t ever feel bad about asking questions like this! You are your pet’s advocate and you can and should be involved in her medical decisions. I really believe that veterinary medicine is a collaborative effort and I always encourage my clients to come to me with questions and concerns about their pet’s treatment plan. When we’re all on the same page we can do better for our animals. I hope your kitty is feeling much better!

Haven't really been around for a couple of days,
because i found myself dealing with a nasty UTI for whatever reason. This is the third one ever in 40+ years, and the only one so far that isn't the direct result of a catheter from surgery. No Foleys since 2020, thank goodness. And my blood sugar control has been pretty consistently at nondiabetic levels--not that it being totally out of control for years was enough to set them off for me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I was trying to wait it out, but yeah today I've been actively sick enough with a miserable fever (measured at 103.6F/39.8C so far between doses of meds for that and the pain tonight), but yeah I think I am going to need to try to see someone and try to get antibiotics out of them. Getting some pain over my kidneys since last night, too.
I've spent too much of the day today sacked out in the bed, alternately shivering and sweating disgustingly with no energy. My blood sugar I ate a little crispbread with cheese earlier, but then later suddenly yakked up some miso broth that I drank this evening partly for the electrolytes, during one particularly violent shivering and shuddering episode. That was fun. Thankfully I did have a plastic bag in my backpack by the bed.
This will be the first time I have needed to seek out any kind of treatment for a "normie" health issue since we moved here, and honestly that does not seem to have as good a reputation as it could. They are apparently pretty stingy with meds for anything that might possibly clear up on its own. Which is understandable up to a point, but not always the best call--and of course I have some bad history with that in the UK with their just pennypinching unwisely. And refusing to give me a long enough course of antibiotics to totally clear up that last UTI from the hospital in 2020. Thankfully, it was easier to obtain various necessary meds through semi-legit online private consultations there. Not so much here, AFAICT.
But yeah, I actually consulted what 1177 was advising for urinary tract infections:
(Autotranslate link.)
And yeah, at least they are making a very clear distinction between cystitis without a fever, and the kind with a fever that's probably gone to your kidneys, may turn more dangerous, and really does need antibiotics. So, I am hoping they will actually follow their own recommendations and prescribe some without too much problem.
And since I really doubt I'll be in any shape to drag my gross sweaty ass through the shower before somehow getting it to the local primary care, maybe that would actually work in my favor to help convince them that I am legitimately sick and feverish. I do not plan to take any paracetamol/Tylenol before going, unpleasant as that would be. But, let 'em see the shaking and sweating in its full glory. Though my temperature was still just over 100F/37.8C earlier with some anti-fever still on board.

I’ve noticed many times at this point that there’s a disjoint between the treatment trans people receive from supposedly queer-affirming institutions and nonprofits, and the treatment we receive from for-profit services that only cater to the richest among us.
At sliding scale queer clinics and LGBTQ community centers, I’m treated like something of an inscrutable freak or an incompetent much of the time. People condescend to me, remember nothing about me, and misgender me even when my identity and pronouns are marked on my chart. Other basic facts about me and my health get regularly messed up too. Even my own doctor keeps forgetting I’m on testosterone gel, not injections, and multiple times I’ve had the wrong blood labs ordered for me or had paperwork misplaced.
I can easily contrast that to the treatment I get at the spas, tanning salons, gay bars, and plastic surgery centers I’ve visited, all of which cater to a wealthier, more privileged clientele. I’m gendered correctly more often at LA Tan than I am at the queer clinic. The technician who performed my laser hair removal was more respectful toward my trans body than any nurse I’ve met at Planned Parenthood. At the gender clinic, I was a forgettable number on a spreadsheet whose phone calls go unreturned. At the plastic surgeon, I'm served fancy coffee and asked about my aesthetic preferences.
Wealth unlocks access to a realm where queer people’s bodies and identities are respected, where we are trusted to manage our own healthcare and are remembered and prized. I desperately wish this weren’t the case. I’m sometimes a bit disgusted at myself for how much I enjoy receiving this lavish-seeming treatment, even though I know it’s only basic dignity.
The only way to escape erasure or institutional control under our present system is to have enough wealth to transform from mere patient into coveted consumer. With enough money, you can skip the clinic in all its bureaucracy, order hormones from an online service, book a major surgery within mere weeks, order UTI meds from an app, and pay a driver to take you home from the hospital rather than begging a friend.
Right now, I can afford to be a consumer, which means I am allowed to be a person and to do with my body whatever I wish. And I don’t know what to do with how good that feels.

Kazu has been diagnosed with Diabetes & has started treatment. He had just had bloodwork and urinalysis done the middle of December, because I felt like he was off then. Not his normal, active playing self like Romeo & Quincy. All of that bloodwork and urinalysis came back completely normal. His blood glucose was right in the middle of the range 127. The range is 72-175. So since she couldn’t find anything wrong with him, we just had to wait till he developed any more symptoms. February 16 Kazu started being treated for a UTI. I also noticed he was drinking more water. About 3 days into his UTI treatment I still didn’t think he was right so I took him for more bloodwork and another urinalysis. Thursday 22nd morning my vet called called and said Kazu has diabetes my heart sank. His blood glucose was almost 400. She wanted me to bring him in to learn how to give injections and go get him a prescription for insulin to start asap. Kazu started out getting 1 unit of insulin every 12 hours. It is the tiniest little amount of insulin not even a fourth of an inch. We are also adjusting his diet and probably everyone else’s diet to make things easier and possibly help prevent Kazu’s other two brothers from getting diabetes as well I hope since this seems to be genetic. There is a possibility that Kazu could go into remission since we caught this very early so I am hopefully. Kazu’s went to the vet yesterday morning 2/28 for 9am to have glucose curve monitoring. His numbers still stayed in the low 400s for his first 2 checks then high 300s for the second 2 checks. Kazu was on 1 unit of insulin every 12 hours, now I gave him 1.5 units last night and then starting this morning he now gets 2 units of insulin every 12 hours. He has been really good about the shots. We just distract him with some of the lickable tube treat and he doesn’t even know he’s getting an injection. Kazu goes back for his next glucose curve monitoring in two weeks unless something change. I have been reading and researching a lot online about cat diabetes. I want to be fully educated and able to care for him the best I can. Kazu does act like he feels a bit better so I will keep you posted on how he’s doing! I can’t believe that he also has diabetes just like what happened to Forrest. At least this time I knew what to watch for. It still kills me that I didn’t know what was happening to Forrest until it was too late. I will always feel like I failed Forrest because I didn’t know what was happening. Please send me all the good vibes and well wishes you can for Kazu. This has been a lot to deal with for all of us and especially Kazu. Xoxo! Carrie & Anakin
Also Anakin is doing great! I’ll post some more pics and video of him soon ❤️

Why isn’t no one talking about toilet paper? When I visited UK, the transition was very hard. I used to shower every time I went to loo for BMs because even wet wipes didn’t feel okay. Yeast infections and UTIs are common among women. Here in India, women avoid proper treatment because of the stigma attached to it. Like how are they any different from conservatives?
oh my god yeah literally tho. for one im surprised theres even people teaching others online NOT to wipe back to front. youd think thats common sense but w/e i dont know ppl's life circumstances. secondly simply wiping is honestly inadequate lol like the bacteria is still there u just made sure its not all wet and messy and wont get all over ur undies. i think the fact that in my country women & men literally wash down there after using the toilet AND wipe helps minimise the risk of yeast infections & UTIs. but its also not gonna prevent it totally, bc i know a lot of women + girls who got it regardless (and no they weren't "filthy whores"...some of them are incredibly young & virgins. its extremely backwards that such things would even need to be specified).
also women's vaginal health is highly stigmatised in my country too. statements further stigmatising it from westerners online does not help. they couldve talked about how sexual activity plays a role & men being dirty plays a role without being weird about it & making it all about sexual activity (bc it isnt all about that at all.)

Protecting Your Health: Avoiding and Managing Urinary Infections
Tumblr media
INTRODUCTION
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are a common health issue that affects people of all ages, including adolescents and adults. While conventional medicine often relies on antibiotics to treat UTIs, homeopathy offers a natural and holistic approach to managing this condition. With the rise of interest in alternative therapies, many individuals are turning to homeopathy clinics in Mumbai for a more personalized and gentle treatment plan. Whether you’re searching for the best homeopathy doctor in Mumbai or specifically a homeopathy doctor in Malad West, this essay will explore how homeopathic remedies can help treat UTIs and provide tips on finding the best homeopathy clinic in Mumbai.
Understanding Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)
A urinary tract infection occurs when bacteria invade the urinary system, which includes the kidneys, bladder, urethra, and ureters. UTIs can cause symptoms such as painful urination, frequent urges to urinate, lower abdominal pain, and cloudy or blood-tinged urine. While antibiotics are typically the go-to treatment for UTIs in conventional medicine, many individuals are seeking homeopathy treatment in Mumbai for a gentler and more holistic approach.
Homeopathy for Urinary Tract Infections
Homeopathy treats the body as a whole, addressing the underlying causes of disease rather than just focusing on symptoms. For individuals suffering from UTIs, homeopathic remedies can be an effective and natural alternative to antibiotics. Remedies are tailored to each patient’s unique constitution, taking into account their physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
Some commonly used homeopathic remedies for UTIs include:
Cantharis: Often prescribed for patients experiencing intense burning sensations during urination and a frequent urge to urinate with little output.
2 .Apis Mellifica: This remedy is ideal for UTIs with swelling, burning sensations, and a feeling of fullness in the bladder.
3 .Staphysagria: Recommended for UTIs that result from emotional stress or anger, especially in individuals who are prone to urinary retention or frequent infections.
4. Berberis Vulgaris: This remedy is used for UTIs with lower back pain and sharp, cramping pains in the bladder region.
Unlike antibiotics, which may have side effects and lead to resistance when used frequently, homeopathic treatments focus on stimulating the body’s own healing mechanisms, thereby providing long-term relief from recurrent UTIs without the risk of side effects.
Finding the Best Homeopathy Doctor in Mumbai
When seeking homeopathic treatment for UTIs or any other condition, it’s crucial to find a reputable and experienced practitioner. Mumbai is home to many qualified homeopathy doctors, and several clinics are renowned for their expertise and success in treating a variety of ailments.
If you’re searching for the best homeopathy doctor in Mumbai, consider the following factors:
Experience and Qualifications: Look for a homeopathy doctor in Mumbai with extensive experience and recognized qualifications in the field of homeopathy. The best homeopathic practitioners are typically licensed and have studied at reputed institutions.
Patient Reviews and Testimonials: Word-of-mouth recommendations can be invaluable when selecting a homeopathy doctor in Malad West or any other area of Mumbai. Check online reviews and testimonials to learn about the experiences of other patients who have received treatment for UTIs or similar issues.
Personalized Care: The best homeopathy clinics in Mumbai offer individualized care, where the doctor takes the time to understand your unique health needs, symptoms, and lifestyle factors. Personalized treatment ensures better results and a more comfortable experience.
Holistic Approach: Homeopathy is about treating the whole person, not just the symptoms. A homeopathic doctor in Mumbai who takes a holistic approach and considers your emotional, physical, and mental health will be better equipped to help manage UTIs and prevent future occurrences.
Consultation Process: The consultation process in a homeopathy clinic Mumbai should involve a detailed analysis of your medical history, lifestyle, and current health issues. A thorough assessment helps the doctor recommend the most suitable remedies for your condition.
Best Homeopathy Clinics in Mumbai
Mumbai boasts some of the most renowned homeopathy clinics in India, known for their expertise in treating a wide range of conditions, including UTIs. If you’re searching for the best homeopathy clinic in Mumbai, here are some tips to consider:
Specialization in UTI Treatment: Some homeopathy clinics in Mumbai may specialize in treating urinary tract infections and other related disorders. Look for a clinic that has a proven track record of successfully treating UTIs and offering comprehensive care.
Use of High-Quality Remedies: The best homeopathy clinics in Mumbai use high-quality, ethically sourced remedies to ensure the effectiveness of treatments. Check if the clinic follows strict quality control standards in preparing and dispensing remedies.
Comfort and Convenience: Choose a clinic that offers a comfortable and welcoming environment. Whether you’re visiting a homeopathy doctor in Malad West or any other area, the clinic should provide easy access, friendly staff, and a relaxing atmosphere.
Ongoing Support: Reputable clinics often provide follow-up consultations and ongoing support to monitor your progress. This ensures that your treatment plan is adjusted as needed for optimal results.
Why Choose Homeopathy for UTIs in Mumbai?
No Side Effects: One of the main reasons individuals turn to homeopathy for UTIs is to avoid the side effects of antibiotics, such as stomach discomfort, yeast infections, and antibiotic resistance.
Prevention of Recurrence: Homeopathy focuses on strengthening the body’s immune system, which helps prevent recurrent UTIs. This long-term approach is especially beneficial for individuals who experience frequent urinary infections.
Holistic Healing: Homeopathy treats the root causes of health issues, rather than just alleviating symptoms. For chronic UTI sufferers, this approach can lead to lasting improvements in overall health and well-being.
Individualized Treatment: Homeopathic remedies are customized to suit each person’s specific health needs, making treatment highly personalized. Whether you’re seeking the best homeopathy doctor in Mumbai or the homeopathic best doctor in Mumbai, personalized care ensures better outcomes.
Conclusion
For individuals seeking a natural, effective, and holistic solution for urinary tract infections, homeopathy offers a promising alternative to conventional treatments. If you’re located in Mumbai, you can find excellent homeopathy clinics offering personalized care tailored to your unique needs. Choosing a urologist in Mumbai offers several advantages:
High-Quality Care: Mumbai's healthcare standards are among the best in the country, and many hospitals and clinics focus on patient-centered care.

Experienced Female Urologists: Mumbai is home to some of the best female urologists, providing comfort and understanding for women who may prefer a female doctor.
Types of Urological Conditions Treated
Urology covers a broad range of conditions affecting the urinary tract and reproductive organs. Here are some of the common urological issues for which you might seek treatment:
a) Kidney Stones
Kidney stones are hard mineral deposits that form in the kidneys and can cause severe pain when they move through the urinary tract. They are a common problem that urologists treat, and in Mumbai, various non-invasive and minimally invasive treatments are available, including shockwave lithotripsy and laser treatments.
b) Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)
UTIs are more common in women, but men can also experience them. Recurrent or severe infections may require specialized care from a urologist. Mumbai’s urologists can provide thorough diagnoses and tailored treatment plans.
c) Prostate Issues
In men, prostate problems such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate cancer are common as they age. A best urologist in Mumbai can offer expertise in the latest treatments, including medication, minimally invasive surgeries, and robotic prostatectomy.
d) Male and Female Incontinence
Urinary incontinence affects both men and women and can be due to various factors, including childbirth, age, and underlying health issues. Urologists in Mumbai use advanced methods to diagnose and treat incontinence, improving quality of life for patients.
e) Pediatric Urology
Mumbai also has specialists in pediatric urology who treat conditions in children, such as undescended testes, urinary reflux, and congenital kidney abnormalities.
f) Female Urology Issues
Women may face unique urological issues, including pelvic floor disorders, recurrent UTIs, and overactive bladder. Female urologists in Mumbai offer an understanding approach to these sensitive issues, making it easier for women to discuss and address their health concerns.
How to Choose the Best Urologist in Mumbai
When choosing a urologist in Mumbai, several factors should be considered to ensure you receive the best care possible.
a) Qualifications and Certifications
Look for a urologist with advanced qualifications and a good track record. Many top urologists in Mumbai have completed international fellowships and hold certifications that demonstrate their expertise.
b) Specialization
Urology covers a wide range of subspecialties. If you have a specific condition, such as prostate cancer or urinary incontinence, it’s worth seeking a best urologist in Mumbai who specializes in that area.
c) Patient Reviews
Reading patient reviews can provide insight into the doctor’s approach, bedside manner, and success in treating various conditions. Online reviews and testimonials from patients can be very helpful.
d) Gender Preference: Female Urologist in Mumbai
Many women feel more comfortable consulting with a female urologist, especially when it comes to issues related to reproductive and pelvic health. Mumbai offers several experienced female urologists, making it easier for women to find a specialist who understands their needs.
e) Accessibility and Facilities
Mumbai’s traffic can make accessibility an important consideration. Choose a urologist whose clinic or hospital is easy to reach, and ensure that the facility has all the required diagnostic tools and treatment options.
f) Communication and Comfort Level
A good urologist should be approachable and willing to answer all your questions. During your initial consultation, assess whether the doctor is empathetic, thorough, and patient.
Benefits of Consulting a Female Urologist in Mumbai
Female urologists in Mumbai bring a unique perspective to the field, often providing a level of comfort and understanding that can be reassuring for women facing sensitive health issues. Here are some benefits:
Empathy and Understanding: Many female urologists have a deeper understanding of issues related to female anatomy, pregnancy, and post-menopausal health changes.
Comfort Level: Women who feel uncomfortable discussing intimate health issues with male doctors may find it easier to talk openly with a female urologist.
Specialized in Female Urology: Female urologists often specialize in female-related conditions, such as pelvic floor disorders, stress incontinence, and post-pregnancy urological health.
Mumbai has a strong network of female urologists, allowing women to find the right specialist to meet their needs.

Urologist Near Me: Finding the Right Specialist for Your Health
When it comes to your health, especially issues related to the urinary system or male reproductive organs, finding a urologist near you is crucial. Urologists are medical specialists who diagnose and treat conditions related to the kidneys, bladder, ureters, urethra, and male reproductive organs. Whether it’s a urinary tract infection (UTI), kidney stones, or erectile dysfunction, a urologist can provide the care you need.
Tumblr media
What Does a Urologist Do?
Urologists treat a wide range of conditions, including:
Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
Kidney stones
Bladder issues like incontinence or overactive bladder
Prostate issues such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate cancer
Male infertility and erectile dysfunction
Testicular cancer, penile conditions, and other male reproductive health concerns
Pediatric urology, addressing issues like undescended testicles or hernias
They also manage complications resulting from surgery or trauma affecting the urinary or reproductive systems.
When Should You See a Urologist?
If you experience any of the following symptoms, it may be time to consult a urologist:
Pain or burning during urination
Blood in the urine
Difficulty urinating or changes in urinary frequency
Lower back, pelvic, or abdominal pain
Erectile dysfunction or sexual health issues
Persistent, recurring urinary tract infections
Infertility concerns
Ignoring these symptoms can lead to more severe health complications, so seeking prompt medical advice is essential for maintaining good health.
How to Find a Urologist Near Me
Finding a trusted urologist near you is easier than you might think. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
Online Search Start by searching for “urologist near me” or “urologist in [your city].” This will give you a list of specialists in your area. Be sure to read reviews from previous patients to get an idea of their experience with the doctor. Many review sites, like Healthgrades or Zocdoc, can help you find top-rated urologists and see their appointment availability.
Ask for a Referral Your primary care physician (PCP) can be a great resource for recommendations. If your PCP has already assessed your symptoms and thinks you should see a urologist, they can refer you to someone who is highly skilled in the specific area you need.
Check Your Health Insurance Network Before making an appointment, ensure the urologist is covered under your insurance plan. This can help you avoid unexpected medical expenses. Most insurance companies have online directories where you can search for in-network urologists.
Verify Credentials Ensure the urologist is board-certified, which means they have met the necessary training and testing requirements in their specialty. You can typically verify credentials through state medical boards or online directories.
Consider Location and Accessibility While it’s important to find a reputable urologist, consider their office location, appointment availability, and ease of access. If you need frequent visits, choosing someone nearby can make the process more convenient.
What to Expect During Your Visit
When you visit a urologist, they’ll likely begin by discussing your symptoms and medical history. A physical exam may follow, which could include an abdominal or pelvic examination. Depending on your condition, the urologist may recommend tests such as a urinalysis, ultrasound, or other imaging studies to understand the root of your symptoms.
Conclusion
If you’re experiencing urinary or reproductive health concerns, finding the right urologist near you is essential. With the right specialist, you can get the diagnosis and treatment you need to address your health issues and improve your quality of life. Don’t wait — reach out to a urologist today to begin your journey to better health.
