How to Play the Uta no Prince-Sama Games in English!!

Disclaimer!! This method won't provide a completely accurate translation but after playing one route fully (around 8 hours), I can confirm that this method works well enough. You can understand the plot and even play the minigames (I recommend playing them on easy though since they can be quite challenging on hard)

This method also works on the official releases of the games so pirating or emulation isn't necessary. Obviously I can't stop anyone from pirating but if you can please consider buying a copy of the game. At the time of writing all of the games are on sale on the Nintendo eShop, with Repeat being 50% off and the rest of the games being 20% off. Just make sure to test this method before spending any money, I don't want anyone to spend the money and then realize this method is uncomfortable or anything of the sort.

1. Requirments!

You will need two devices. A mobile phone and the device you will be playing the game on.

2. Step One, Translator

I use the Google Translate app but any translator with similar features will work. For this method we will be using the camera feature.

3. Step Two, Using the Camera Feature

Using the camera feature is quite simple.

After you go to the camera you will be met with this screen (it's black for privacy reasons but that's what you will see with your camera).

Point the camera at the text you want to translate (in this case the text box in the game). It will automatically translate the text even if you don't take a photo. Just make sure to move your camera away from your screen when moving on to the next line because otherwise it won't translate the next line.

This method is quite tiring so make sure to take frequent breaks to let your hand rest. Personally I took breaks after every chapter or when I was raging at the rhythm minigame (I had the minigames on hard at first, don't repeat (pun not intended) my mistake).

If you try out this method please let me know how it went. I'm really curious to see if this method is bearable for most people or I am so obsessed with Utapri that I will do anything to consume content for it.

It's a music media project centered on a cappella that started the 4th March 2021

It was owned by KLab until the 1st June 2023 and is now owned by Marvelous

This franchise is centered on 17 high school students, composed of 3 units, who will be participating in an a cappella competition named Aoppella!

SYPNOSIS:

The boys were enchanted that day.

Standing before them were ordinary high school students just like them. No extravagant costumes.

No musical instruments.

And yet, the moment they opened their mouths, ever-changing harmonies gushed forth, and the audience went wild.

"We want to sing like that too! We want to shine!"

'Aoppella'

is an a cappella competition for high school students only, where high school students who are fascinated by a cappella "unaccompanied singing" aim to reach even greater heights. Their performance is about to begin !

Hi, I only recently discovered Uta No Prince Sama (the anime I mean), and I have just finished watching all the seasons of the anime. After looking up whether there would be a season 5 I saw that there are also games? But I can't find any specific info on them. welcome to utapri hell! there’s no way out from here onwards. this ask got slightly long so i’m going to add a read more

utapri started out as an otome game on the psp, where haruka was actually you and you could date one of the first six starish boys with like cecil as a secret character i think. quartet night would then be added later on.

however all of the games are japan exclusive, with no english translation patches ever fully made. there are 12 games so far with another, dolce vita (which will include heavens), in development. here are the twelve so far off the official utapri website:

i don’t know too much about the individual games themselves and i don’t want to give out any false info. there’s english summaries of all the boys’ routes in all star after secret online but that’s all to my knowledge. utapri music 1-3 are rhythm games. if you happen to be fluent in japanese, the later games are available from play asia i think. the older games would probably be on ebay or something. the only english translated “game” is shining live right now (but you’re probably already aware of that)

there probably will be a season five as well after maji love kingdom comes out since utapri is so popular in japan.

I loove low stakes - also, Naruto and Princess Jellyfish? How's it to have TASTE. (also I really should finish free)

Some low stakes recs, all cute, pretty style and funny.

K-on, is about a group of school girls who want to make a band. They share a beautiful bond and it's pretty funny. Also kind of quintessential what's like to be a girl?? Not to get deep or anything but-

Card Captor Sakura (1990's) is a magical girl anime about this girl who finds a box in the middle of her (archeologist) dad's stuff and a bunch of cards fly out of it. Turns out every card is a magical creature who she not so much 'captures' but returns to their rightfull place. (There's also cannon bisexual characters, even kids, who AREN'T sexualized so you know, it's very cool to have good rep)

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun is about this girl who hands a confession to the boy she has a crush on, but he misunderstands and autographs it. He's a famous shoujo manga author (in secret) and she gets roped into helping, also ends up meeting some of the other people who help him.

Love Stage is about a boy from an celebrity family that was dressed like a girl for a commercial as kid, but now the brand is doing an anniversary and wants all the actors back. Also, his co-star has been hang up on this 'girl' for years.

Uta no prince-sama is an anime about this girl who gets into a music school. I'll admit this was a twelve year old me favorite, alongside Naruto, but it probably holds up. It's very low stakes and the songs are great, it's what we'd call in my country 'water and sugar' meaning it's very cliche and digestible. If you're in doubt probably check out the 1000% Love song, to me it still slaps but nostalgia.

And for the maybe not so low stakes (there's stakes, goals, but they aren't stressing you out):

HunterxHunter, most of it (like up till episode 75, meaning till the end of Greed Island Arc) I'd call shounen low stakes. It's set in this world where mercenaries, Hunters, can get this special license to kill and stuff. Sounds grim, but we are following Gon who wants to 'know what's so great about being a hunter' that his dad left him. But like, he's genuinely, 'that must be so cool! i gotta do it' and then preceded to be the most badass kid ever. It's a very funny show and I love all the main characters. It's especially good if you like Tournament Arcs, like me who thinks the Chunnin Exams were the best part of Naruto.

Kuroshitsuji*, it's very funny, about a victorian boy who made a deal with a demon after losing his parents to arson, the demon serves as his butler until the vengeance is complete. We do drift around in a kind of detective thing Ciel, the protag, has. The mysteries are entertaining but it does get a bit more plot heavy by the time if his vengeance.

* has ch*ld s*x abuse but it's for plot (not the creepy 'i write this because I'm into it' kind) and I'd say its not enough to make you uncomfortable unless you're very easily triggered by the subject, but i wanted to warn. If there's any questions, ring me up.

It's a lot of information but I'm like the opposite of a gatekeeper. I stand in the gate and try to pull people into my fandoms with a cowboy lasso.

Any uh…. Anime recommendations?

My partner and I recently finished watching all of Naruto and are now struggling to find something fun to fill that void. Not to sound too old and bitter, but man so much anime is made these days to fit trends that I just can’t stand anymore.

It’s either mediocre isekai, or “children being brutalised: the series”. The absolute curse of Attack on Titan making every shonen joyless and ultra violent for the past decade cannot be understated.

So please help because we are struuuggling. We’re watching Saiki K with dinner at the moment and it’s a lot of goofy fun. Our favourite day of the week is Sunday because that’s when a new episode of My Dress Up Darling comes out.

I’d love some more comedy, slice of life, romance anime to watch. Some of our faves are Nichijou and Ouran. I love Princess Jellyfish and Free! And SK8. We stan low stakes in this house.

You can recommend shonen but for the love of GOD it has to be fun and stupid.

Let’s Talk:  Broccoli’s Gamble

And how it paid off for them The first thing we have to do is go ALLLLLL THE WAY BACK to 8/8/2009 when Broccoli announced on their blog that they were going to be starting a franchise called “Uta no Prince-Sama”.  It was a game that would follow 6 idols that were going to school at Saotome Gauken (Shining Academy) as they attempt to make their debut with the composer whom the player would name in the game BUT for the purposes of this post we will use the name that is most familiar in Haruka Nanami. Before that November would start with the CDs for the 6 original boys that would appear in UtaPri and this would run up to February where we would get to hear the first songs of the cast at that time.  We WOULD get “Welcome to UTAPRI World” later but we’re splitting hairs. When the first game came out a lot was probably riding on it because Broccoli wanted it to succeed and ,while I can’t find #’s for the original, we can assume it did very well for the company because they kept going with the games all the way up to February 26th of 2015 when All-Star After Secret released and is the last “new” game for either the PSP or the VITA at this time with Dolce Vita to come later Little did we realize that ,while the game gamble was going to pay off, No one probably looked at UtaPri and thought as an Anime it would go past one 13 week series.  Most probably thought it was going to be ,at the least, a single cour series and at the most maybe 2...an OVA ,2 more Series and a Movie was PROBABLY not in the cards if you gave Broc truth serum. But Broc had another part of this plan and that was their stage shows While they only started at a 1500 seat building called “U-Port Hall” they went bigger and better as they moved up to 10K seat buildings to NOW aroud the 30K mark which they have filled for 3 different Lives!  That was impressive There is NO WAY their gamble could  keeping paying off right?  I mean eventually the house wins and you go broke! WELL While I don’t have the numbers for the character singles of the first two series in the Anime Seasons 3 and 4 have shown that Broc was going to keep winning...and in some cases it wouldn’t have to be the character singles from STARISH to outright do it because if you remember around Season 3 when QN had their frist Anime Single they were in the top 3 peaking at #2...they couldn’t do better than that surely WRONG When Season 4 came around what we found out was that QUARTET NIGHT had a fanbase that was REALLY HUNGRY and it was so much so when the Anime came out that what happened was they didn’t want to give up the #1 spot for a long time and they broke a lot of records not just for UtaPri but for Anime Singles as a whole and that has to tell you something. Season 4 was also another gamble for Broccoli:  To allow a “rival group” in HEAVENS to be able to have singles with STARISH members and also to have their own group single. It ALMOST didn’t payoff Interestingly enough when the group singles came out the one that peaked the highest was JUSTICE IMPULSE which was around the top 5 while others made either the top 10 but didn’t stick or just didn’t break it.  Mamoru Miyano’s character single with Yuuma Uchida NEARLY broke the top 10 but not quite but others weren’t nearly as lucky.  With Ren/Van’s and Yamato/Syo’s being the top marks for the duets what would this mean for HEAVENS when their group single came out? Well?! HEAVENS had their single come out last and it was after the masterful job that God’s S.T.A.R. did.  They also had to contend with the fact that the mainstays in STARISH were in the top 5 when their single came out (as was Mamo’s single for the season in Tempest IIRC) so there was NO WAY they would get past that right? WRONG Now I’m going to stop here for a second and I will say that ,yes these songs were under King Records, BUT its the idea that a group that was constructed by Broccoli to be the opposition to STARISH originally was going to be put in this spot.  What would happen? Not much...just the top 3! “Immortal Inferno” peaked at #3 on the Daily charts and yet again Broc beat the house.  Whether we want to admit it they did a hell of a job constructing this group because you had old vets and new guys that no one really knew.  Sure you had Kimura ,OnoD and Midorin BUT we had Hidenori ,Daiki Yamashita and also Yuuma...oh and Wingu unless you watched FREE! (spoiler:  I did and I had no idea he was in it). HEAVENS was the renegades and they did the unthinkable.  Even with their first ever Drama CD in HEAVEN SKY they did pretty well with a top 5 peak even if it didn’t last the duration of the time on the chart. Surely Broccoli was done with the gambles right?  I mean they HAVE to lose the next one right? Well this brings us to a more present day event Last Year was the debut of a game called “Shining Live” which is a co-production with Broccoli and KLab and it did AMAZING in Japan with the game getting over 2 Million downloads since its launch in August of last year!  Put that in perspective:  If you got the numbers from the first 10 weeks on the three music games between VITA and PSP I don’t think they sold 1 Million TOTAL! But Japan was going to be a relatively easy market...how would they do IF the games made it outside of Japan (and this was something Broccoli has been against with restricting PVs for the games in the past)?  Well there would NEED to be at least an English version to find out On May 11 2017 (you can check that through the twitter creation date) there WAS an English twitter created for Shining Live but no posts on it were known about and all news would have to be translated by a fan account at the time.  It wasn’t until before the JP version came out (I believe it was during 7th Anniversary) that a Global version was announced.  No news on the date (because of the fact it was going to be in English and Chinese) but one had been announced...this was going to be the BIGGEST gamble that it takes! Well for a while there were crickets...no one knew anything about the development of the global version and all was silent THEN JANUARY 2018 CAME! It was around this time that the English Twitter started posting news and updates about the game with trailers and the like.  When they got closer to a suspected release date they started with the translated bios of the characters so that newcomers to the series could get to know the characters they would be seeing over the coming months in the game. Then January 24th a.k.a. ONE DAY AFTER CAMUS’ BIRTHDAY came and the game was launched in less than a 3 month period (maybe even less than that) the Global version broke 1 Million more downloads with the English version on Google Play having over 100K! Broccoli is that gambler that ,no matter what, will look at the situation and go “We’re doing this” Its interesting when you think about it because Broccoli took a franchise that is almost 10 years old unofficially (the Anniversary is always designated by the first game release) and gambled SO HARD with it that now the question that needs to be asked is this “If you knew you were gonna come up Trumps Broc...why did you make fans wait outside of Japan?” In many respects Broccoli has won every gamble with UtaPri they can make...there IS one left and its been proven in Japan they can win with them Will they make THE BET in the Western Market? I don’t see how they can lose at this point to be honest

Hi! Thank you for liking my art, and this message is suuuuper sweet! I decided since both things I’m really into now are pretty hard to get into if you don’t know where to start, I kind of......... info dumped... I’m sorry;;

The big two I’ve been drawing the past few months have been:

Uta no Prince-sama- An otome game I’ve actually been into for about 6 years now!! I just tend to fall in and out at random times lmao... 

The series is essentially an idol dating game with currently 12 date able main routes and 2 side routes- and standing at 7 games with another coming up next year and a rhythm mobile game by KLab (makers of Love Live) on it’s way to phones pretty soon!

Unfortunately there isn’t a proper translation out but there is quite a few people who summarize the games fairly in depth! Although... I’m not a huge fan of the way things are phrased... but it works!

Uta no Prince-sama: Repeat: The creators originally weren’t expecting UtaPri to get so much attention, so the original game didn’t have the best written or most detailed art- so years later they went back and completely redid it with fixing things! So I’m counting this as the first game!

Debut / All Star / All Star: After Secret / Amazing Aria /  Sweet Serenade  / Dolce Vita (2018)

There’s also an anime of currently 4 seasons that you can watch! However it’s not as detailed as the games, and they do change things, I think it’s a good show to watch just for dumb fun tbh (although season 4 gets quite serious and that’s why I love it so much)

My favorite characters that you’ve probably noticed I draw often are Otoya, Tokiya, and Eiichi who is an anime only character thus far (but planned to be in Dolce Vita in 2018)  

Ensemble Stars: Another idol series! However this one is a mobile game that fits more under the category of “visual novel”. It takes place at Yumenosaki Academy, an idol school where people stand their ground and try to make their mark on the industry,

I don’t personally play the game (I found it rather tedious and boring) but the actual stories are so well written with such a beautiful cast that I read all the stories I can! A lot of people can get intimidated by the large cast of currently 40+, but I wouldn’t worry about it! Just read the main story, and any characters that catch your fancy after the first few chapters, read their separate event stories that are pretty easy to find!

How to Play / Where to Read 

My personal favorites are Eichi, Leo, and Adonis!

Other things I’m still invested in are Mystic Messenger (just waiting on V’s route), FFXV, and there’s a soft spot in my heart for Gravity Falls!

Recommended Musical/Show Biz Anime

B-Project (9/10): Upon first glance this might look like your formula reverse harem anime until you realize that their female manager is basically there to introduce us to their love lives/friendships. B-Project tells the story of three popular boy bands that decide to create one super boy band by uniting the three boy bands. All of the boys care about each other on the same level as boys in sports anime ~if you know what I mean~. Overall this show is full of stories and gives you different perspectives in order to learn about each member of the different bands and how they all connect. I only wish that there were more episodes. It’s definitely an easy binge. Comedy, Slice of Life

Dance with Devils (7/10): I know that I was surprised when I first watched this show and discovered the musical elements. A girl with the secrets of all of power of the underworld is instantly being hunted by powerful devils, vampires, and fallen angels as they seek the power she possesses. All of these supernatural beings are people she knows such as her beloved brother to students at school. Supernatural, Romance, Mystery

Kiniro no Corda: Primo Passo (8/10): In a school divided into musical students (wearing white uniforms) and regular students (wearing grey) it’s clear to guess who will be in the music competition. However, this year Hino, a regular student, suddenly sees a magical fairy that no one else can see and she is granted a magical violin and entered into the competition. Some of the musical students welcome her; while others doubt her abilities. When the time comes she must prove that the true talent is her not the magical violin. Romance, Comedy, School Life

Love Stage! (10/10): Izumi Sena is persuade into cross dressing for a commercial by his famous parents and he ends up tricking his co-star who thinks he’s really a girl.
