With the Women's World Cup, my muse for something football-related is at an all-time high. This advertisement is primarily a RPF search, but if you're not a fan of RPF but you're a fellow football fan who would not mind using the face claim suggested below on an OC soccer player, that is totally fine as well!

My main request is to find someone who will play USWNT star Alex Morgan! I would like to play a male character opposite of Alex. I'm open to a number of different roleplay ideas with each plot having the overarching goal of being a wholesome romantic story. Please read below to see some of my brief ideas. Again, if you like an idea below but do not wish to do RPF, we can definitely discuss the option of you playing an OC with Alex's face claim just as easily!

Probably the idea I want to try the most is to play a male OC that meets Alex when they are in college. He's a football player as well. They bond over a love of the sport and competition, begin a relationship together, and support each other in their professional sport endeavors. I can also substitute my OC's sport with another sport if you prefer. Furthermore, I could also play a real male athlete if you would like.

Another idea that I'd love to try is portraying a male OC who ends up being the coach for Alex, either on the international stage or at the club level. I love the idea of a secret romance while also balancing the act of being a coach and a player as well.

The classic average Joe/celebrity idea where my OC is just a random, every day guy. Could be someone she met in college who was not as athletically inclined as she was, so instead of playing professional sports he had to find a different career, but they have a supportive romance all the same. It could be a fan who wins a once in a lifetime contest to meet Alex, but what starts as a fun fan meet-and-greet for charity turns into something else. Maybe the OC is a doctor or athletic trainer who works with her at some level. Tons of options!

I am 18+ and I will only write with others who are at least 18 as well. I consider myself to be very flexible and none of these ideas are really set in stone, so please interact with this post if you might be interested and I will message you! My final note - I am willing to double. I can play a celebrity for you in return if you wish. Doesn't have to be limited to the world cup or even sports if you want. When doubling, I am also willing to play characters of any gender, not just a male character. I welcome and encourage pairing other than m/f when doubling too. My goal is to give you exactly what you request if we double, so don't hold back your request! If you like my ideas, but you don't like Alex Morgan, please feel free to suggest a different footballer that you're more interested in playing. I love the sport and the World Cup, so I have a feeling that I would still be down to do a story where you play someone different. Thanks for your time!

What inspired KO/Sonnett? I mean, we've seen Soran around, but not very many good Fics of that pairing.

That you can blame on blak0tyler. She started writing them, and I was like “I don’t really ship it because I think they’re too similar, but I love your writing, so I’ll read” and then by the end of the fic I was like “Damn, I kinda see it now.” I think for me it’s partially just that I really enjoy writing both characters (or did anyway). It’s fun to write characters that on the surface can be snide or sarcastic or goofy, but then underneath can have more layers and provide other things to a fic.

Hi there musingpredeliction. I think it’s hard for me to have angsty ideas for Preath, and I’m likely to still have happy endings. I was just talking to someone last night about how real life can be hard and can suck so when I turn to fiction, I want it to at least be hopeful, to do things like make me believe in true love (though I am one of the lucky ones that has found that in real life), make me believe in happy endings and beautiful lives, make me believe in magic. If you’d like more angst, I suggest reading more of my Soran or So’hara

Favorite WOSO person IRL? Favorite one to write?

IRL? Idk. It’s hard to judge when I don’t actually know any in real life. Rose holds a special place in my heart. Tobin’s footwork is magic and her laid back, goofy personality makes me swoon. Christen is the epitome of beauty to me both physically and just who she is (or at least who she shows us publicly). I honestly love so many of them. Sonny, KO (yes, still, though I am disappointed and hope she learns and grows), Julie, CRYSTAL!! Moving on from the USWNT, I’m a big fan of Emily Menges (one of the league’s most underrated defenders), Simone Charley, Midge Purce, Jennifer Cujoe, Sarah Gorden, Yuki Nagasato, Casey Short, Ali Riley, the list goes on. Lol. And on a more international player level: Tiane Endler, Mapi Leon, Jenni Hermoso, Sam Kerr, Hayley Raso, (actually a bunch of the Aussies), Vivianne Miedema, and so many more.

Favorite one to write is a bit easier: Emily Sonnett.

is with fandom culture that she is having a problem or the preath fandom specifically? also, i really love her writing, for both preath and soran so i hope that, if she retires, she doesn't delete her work, please! and man, the kelley situation, it's been really hard for us readers and for the writers…

Here’s the thing: part of what I have a problem with about Kelley is the fandom’s response to her. I’m disappointed by her not kneeling. I think she really needs to have more hard conversations and examine why she stood apart from game one and hopefully learn and grow. I’m disappointed in the culture of cancelling someone because they don’t learn and grow on the timeline you see fit, though. That now people will write off entire stories because a CHARACTER version of Kelley (that the authors have created themselves, let’s not forget), is part of it even if those stories were begun before the tournament happened. That her kneeling or not discounts her skill on the field or her actions off the field that we’re unaware of. Again, we only see a part of them, what they publicly show us, and I am very disappointed that she didn’t show us her kneeling for the anthem beyond game one, but I’m also aware that she may be taking steps I have no idea about. I’m not trying to start a discourse, though I’m sure this will, but that’s part of my issue. And then there’s the trickiness that comes of being part of an RPS/RPF fandom, where there’s the distinction between fiction and reality, between what we’d like to be true and what we 100% know. I don’t mean to cast aspersions. I’m not here to judge you anymore than I’m here to judge them.

What brought you to Preathfics, or rather just the WOSO fanfic community in general?

I have always been a soccer fan. I played through high school. But fanfic you can thank lesbianrobinhood for. I was not looking for a new fandom, but she dragged me kicking and screaming anyway. It’s usually the way.

What pairing do you most enjoy writing for? Why?

Hmmm...That depends on what I’m in the mood for. I like writing Soran or So’Hara if I’m feeling angsty or Preath if I’m not, but really it’s more about the individual story than the pairing: which idea captures my attention most in a moment. That said, as I said in another answer: I love writing Sonny, so if I get to write her, even if she’s just the supporting friend to Preath, I am a happy person.

Do you have a favorite fic? Can you make a list like Preathfics did of your faves?

Oooh, ummm...I mean anything by Blake0tyler for sure. I could (and have) read her stuff over and over and over. I love, love, LOVE Here I Am (Signed, Sealed, Delivered), by freshtilapia. I really enjoy The Restaurant by little_oblivion for a great ensemble piece. The One Where Everyone Finds Out is another great one (and all of LittleDanvers’s stuff really). I love the imagery in Portrait of a Soccer Player on Fire by restlessvirtue. Entwined by superdupergust is very good (and hot). And for non-preath one of my faves is unbecomings (but their stuff is locked).

Do you have a favorite fic that you've written before?

Like of my own? Umm...The Time Between or Orlando is Only Home When It Has You, although so far I really like something that is as yet unpublished, and I’m enjoying the way folklore is turning out with JustCrushALot.

….Should I not? I have a hard time writing smut. I have to be in the right mindset and I haven’t been there in a while, but then I was, so I was like “Let me try” and it worked out.

Umm...that depends. If I get the inspiration, then yes, certainly, I wouldn’t rule it out. Also I have a bet right now with blake0tyler about something which should result in smut from one of us at least.

To the amazing author of Worth a Thousand words: the story is beautifully written, it's funny, sweet and different from other fics. I totally get the KO thing and I do agree with you on that one but know that it's a fantastic story. (Everything you write is)❤️

Thank you, I appreciate that. I mean, I think in all fandoms there is a toxic element, but as this is the only fandom I’m currently active in, it’s this one. And it’s not all of you, please don’t think that. I sort of explained in another ask.

I just love Heath17_KO5's stories and everything they contribute. Is there any chance the author will pursue Beacon of Light? No pressure or anything. I just thought it had such a sweet premise. And I am a sucker for a good storm story :D

° ╰ ☆∵ — ALISSA VIOLET; cisfemale & she/her ╮TORRENT NOVAK is in their JUNIOR year at ASU, making them TWENTY. did you hear that they’re majoring in BIOCHEMISTRY? word around campus is that they decided to rush for PI BETA PHI. they’re also on the SOCCER team ! i’ve heard they are pretty BENEVOLENT & DISCIPLINED, while also being DISTANT & APPREHENSIVE.

A LIL HISTORY

torrent novak aka the human thunderstorm

she was born into a relatively stable family. her parents were happily married, she has an older sister with a personality disorder and a brother she adores but her family was never something tori saw as anything other than normal.

when she was around 5, her mother was diagnosed with a terminal illness that had gone unnoticed. the whole novak household was flipped upside down when their matriarch was suddenly bed bound, causing their father to develop misplaced anger issues and take out his frustrations at the bar downtown. torrent was left to be raised by her sister, who was barely entering middle school at this point and was in no way fit to take care of the two of them— but she made it work regardless.

torrent didn’t realize how dysfunctional her family was until she joined her first soccer team at the age of 7, noticing how all the families around her interacted and realizing hers was NOTHING like those, not even close. after her mothers passing and her father spiraling, her home life became a source of shame, so she focused all her energy on practicing and improving her skills so that would be the main priority of the people around her, instead of asking why her parents are never around to watch her games and why she always needs a carpool

turns out, she had a natural inclination to use her feet and her head because she got good. like realllly good. she caught the eyes of trainers around the country, and was able to receive offers everywhere. she got offers from standford, duke, usc, the list goes on but she opted to choose ASU in order to stay with her brother and her best friend on campus and to be able to watch out for her sister. being the level-headed kid she is,  she’s got her eyes on the bigger picture— the US women’s national team, which has been eyeballing ASU’s women’s team for the sole purpose of torrent being there. turns out you get a greater spotlight when you’re a team’s star player, and torrent was well aware of that

her junior year of high school she ripped her acl at the state championship game and spent the whole summer getting surgery after surgery. she’s powered through the pain but sometimes it gets to be too much, which led to her stumbling upon ASU’s underground drug market. she’s addicted to oxy in order to ignore the pain of her former injury, but she knows something dangerous is bound to happen sooner or later because of her habits.

now, she’s currently just working her ass off to play her best and train train train, since an offer from the USWNT is just on the horizon with the upcoming retirement of several players and her name being a hot topic in the professional women’s league in terms of replacement on the bench. 

she’s disciplined and maintains a stellar gpa with ease

she joined her sorority at the encouragement of her best friend, and considering her mom was also in pi beta phi when she attended asu, it seemed like the natural choice. she’s something of a quasi-celebrity on campus, with plenty of people recognizing one of their school’s top athletes. 

also just a shitpost headcannon torrent loves to fuckin EAT thus her fuckin user bar 

PERSONALITY

torrent is the textbook definition of all work and no play. her whole life’s focus is to see the bigger picture and work towards it and that means taking every step of the way very seriously

torrent isn’t immediately aggressive, but her cold and calculated nature with a tendency to not smile make her VERY intimidating. she has an icy glare that tends to keep most people at an arms length, just how she likes it. she’s just not a fan of letting people in and she spends enough time in her own head to keep other people out of it

she’s insanely hard on herself, and she tends to be her own worst enemy. she ruins things very easily for herself relationship-wise, and she’s so sensitive deep down it just makes sense for her to keep people at a distance so she can focus on her goals and not hurt anyone in the process

that being said, she’s not a bitchy person by any means. she stands her ground tenaciously and isn’t one to back down, but she’s incredibly wise about picking her battles and really doesn’t care to waste her time with most people. she’s mature beyond her years and while her aloof crankiness can come across as rudeness, she really doesn’t try INTENTIONALLY to be mean ???

her focus has always been athletics but that work ethic carries across to her academic life as well. she’s incredibly bright and her brain just kinda absorbs things, she’s pretty sure she has a photographic memory but she’s never cared to show it off. she keeps her head down, does her work, and strives to be the best

also insanely riddled by anxiety? her childhood was traumatizing to an extent, which manifests itself in serious anxiety and obsessive behaviors, such as her workout routine or her obsession with being the best at whatever she chooses to make the effort into doing

basically she’s just ur typical soft hearted perfectionist who shuts off her feelings as a defense mechanism against her anxiety issues due to the pressure she’s under. definitely not the one u party with but she’ll be the mom friend minus the warm nurturing personality moody, broody, and smart as fuq. she really just needs to like... lighten up
