Amsterdam paintings. If you don’t follow me on IG (@herbcoil) you might not know I was selected to teach workshops at the Urban Sketchers international symposium this July. They flew me out and everything and I’m really grateful for the opportunity to teach and to visit the Netherlands.

Despite a record breaking heatwave it was an amazing time!! Met talented artists from all over the world. It’s a wonderful community.

Day 100/100. And just like that I am done with this challenge. Complete. It was very hard to keep up with the regular art making and sharing after the flight and with this very active trip. The first page of my (to-be-bound-when-I-get-home) sketchbook for #uskamsterdam2019 - and all of my art supplies. I’ve made several simple signatures of soft-press, cold-press, and hot-press watercolor paper as well as toned Mi Teintes paper - so I can use whatever paper I wish in any order. I have a gouache palette, a watercolor palette, 48ish watercolor pencils, 24 colored pencils, a bunch of pens, stamps, ink pads, a portable stool, collapsible water bottle, and a quick fire 🔥 sketch kit that will go in my fanny pack and is not pictured here. I try to get a sketch done each day, what happened to the #usksymposium2018 work ethic? when it was about 6 a day? These are a couple of familiar places I didn't do with #urban sketchers last year. My first piece since returning home from nearly a month abroad in Europe including the always extra stimulating #usksymposium in Amsterdam. It’s been a difficult re-entry with jet lag and some stressful news that we got while away and are still dealing with now and for the immediate future.
