I think one of the worst things about this situation is the guilt. The heavy drag of the thought of how much of a burden I must be. The guilt of the fact that I am lucky to have this. I am lucky to have parents who, for the most part, support me financially.

And I am grateful. I am so fucking grateful. But that doesn't change how suffocating it is here. That doesn't change that on top of all of the exhaustion I endure being here, I am also a significant financial burden. I would pay for shit if I could and I am trying to figure things out, but social security is confusing and exhausting and i'm just trying. I'm in such financial peril that I'm even considering applying for a local manufacturing facility, even though the last time I attempted a job like that, I wound up in the hospital.

I got side-tracked. This isn't the point. It's a big part of the point but its not what made tonight plummet into levels of self destructive thoughts. Just the simple stupid condescending shit he says that can so easily open old fucking wounds and makes me want to rip my skin off.

I should be happy to live in a house that supports me financially, but its hard to not wonder, sometimes, if I should have drowned in the river when I was 17, instead of whatever the fuck sort of existence this is that I'm trying to hard to build on. Even though things between us have been a lot better than they were growing up, living here is still like walking through a mine field that has only had SOME of its deadly explosives removed. With a mixture of memories from growing up and wishing to whatever god would listen that he would just HIT me so there would be something visible to show, to the seven fucking years of my life spent with someone who had me convinced that they loved me, while slowly making me lose pieces of myself nearly to the point of self annihilation.

I was doing okay for a while. Things were looking like they would be okay enough until I could find a way to get out, but right now I'm just feeling overwhelmingly stuck. Everything with the house with my friend really sort of... ripped off a section of hope. or something. I always knew that there was a chance that things wouldn't work out and who knows, maybe in one way or another, they still can. But with all the lying and going back on things we'd talked about doing, I feel like having any sort of promised sanctuary there won't be happening any time soon. I don't think it's intentional. At least I'd like to think it isn't.

I'm rambling. I'm tired. I'm worried about my bank account going into the negatives and I'm just not sure what to do, in the immediate sense.

Hi! Ok so at one point I remember when answering an ask you said that when making animal based characters to just stay away from making any rat ones because of negative connotations (which I totally get)

So my question is would it be ok to have a whole humanoid race that is mildly based on mice? They look like humans but their ears vaguely look mouse-ish, they have tails, and their feet are sort of like paws. I am considering two different options with the tails in case I should stay away from the mouse thing, one looks like a mouse tail (kind of the main thing making them mice themed) and the other is a similar shape but fluffy especially at the end (A little like some versions of unicorn tails I've seen)

I would like to include disabled characters so if the mouse thing still isn't recommended I'll redesign them

Most of the time when we advise that people avoid a certain trope/concept, it isn't a complete ban on it. It's generally more of a "be careful with how you approach this" type thing.

For example, we often advise against making a disabled character that's a villain because of their disability. If your only disabled character is a villain with chronic pain that kills people because their disability stops them from their dream job, that's not great. BUT if you have this same character and you also have a wheelchair user who runs the tech stuff for the hero side (Oracle-style, for my DC folks) and a Deafblind hero who leads the charge against the villains and an autistic sidekick and an amputee henchman for the villain and several able bodied villains and so on, then its less of a problem. It might not be gold medal representation but because you're no longer equating disability with tradegy and hatred and instead showing that villain as part of a cast with diverse stories and, more importantly, as a person with their own unique experiences, it's much better.

This is all a very long way of saying that most tropes that are generally best avoided can still be okay in some contexts.

In this case, having this whole species is completely fine and it's great that you want to include disabled characters! I see nothing wrong with this.

If you had a world where the characters were all anthropomorphic animals and the only rat character was also your own disabled character, that'd be a bit of a problem because it's singling out your disabled character -- presumably to poke at their disability.

In the concept you've presented, though, being part of this species is a trait all (Or most) of your characters share. Which is fine!

As a few final notes of caution:

If you're worried about certain unintended connotations or messaging coming across, it's generally best to spread your cast out as much as possible. By this, I mean that if you have other species in this world, don't have all your disabled characters be part of this one species. Likewise, don't have every member of this species be disabled. Instead, consider having your disabled characters be from different species. For example, have an amputee character be from this species but have a blind character be from another species.

Certain specific disabilities do have individual associations to watch out for. Be careful making associations between a character with a cleft lip and hares/rabbits (Because of the derogatory term "harelip" that has been used). Likewise but to a lesser extent, be careful with associations of blind people and moles, mice, and bats. This is because of the naked mole rat, the Three Blind Mice, and "blind as a bat" respectively. There are a few of these out there.

This is less of a warning and more just something to consider but keep in mind how their animal traits can be impacted by their disability. Would a character that's paralyzed have use of their tail? Would a blind character trip over their tail or would their same "sense of self" extend to the tail like it would an arm or leg? How would a character in a wheelchair adapt their chair to their tail? Etc.

Blogs that consistently stalk the anon blogs and their respective other blogs, know the full details of our personal blogs, and bash us while making silly posts on "how to deal with hate comments" while openly smearing us for not wanting to role-play with them. 

I advise caution when approaching those blogs as a few of my mates have seriously considered deleting their blogs thanks to them, and the Sasori-RP blog is very demanding. (A few of my mates were psychologically evaluated by Sasori-RP mod the first time they talked on discord, and Sasori-RP mod INSISTED my mates be seen by therapists after five minutes of discussion. It made them very wary of her from the start. Fugaku-Uchiha-Anon instantly blocked Shisui-Uchiha-RP because of demands, and he felt distinctly uneasy role-playing with this person) If you decide you do not want to continue to role-play with either of the above blogs due to feeling a strong sense of discomfort, you will be bashed publicly. I am amused they need to smear us because we were uncomfortable role-playing with them, matters tended to in private. No roleplay situation is a contract in blood. If at any time a roleplay situation becomes suffocating, there should be no pressure on anyone to continue. That was the situation with the above three users. We (especially a main anon blog) were feeling intense pressure to continue to roleplay with Sasori-RP and Itamis-Multi-Muses while feeling uneasy. There were asinine demands being made by them to live up to their standards and "" anon was on the brink of deleting her "" rp blog. "She" nearly did it, while dealing with a nervous breakdown. Her friends had to persuade her not to, and she took an extended break from her blog because she could not handle the above blogs' pressure and demands. I have heard of others blocking Sasori-RP and Itamis-multi-muses as well, for the same reasons (said in private). Many of you know what transpired on January 29, of the harassment and doxxing threats sent to a few of us. My mates have been forced to file police reports on the above users and others due to they still stalk us and bash us on their blogs. There is an ongoing police investigation. There are others who belong on this DNI list but currently they will be left out of my rules. 

The above blogs are very aware of the fact that we do not want to have anything to do with them and we have requested them to STOP stalking us yet they persist. They blocked a couple of us recently, but they did NOT have us blocked previously. They still do not have a majority of us blocked. Recently we have reason to believe they sent us Asks, of an unfavorable nature.

General recommendation:

Taking refuge in a private discord server with friends where you can exchange thoughts opinions, illusions, and grievances in a safe place is beneficial to everyone! as it allows you to get any upset out of your system and receive feedback in a safe environment and in such way other people who are going through their own experience won't be affected.

As many are aware, the Fate community recently came together to push out a user on Twitter last week (@/chaeyatxt, all other handles shown here are former handles that he used as well within the span of the last year or so) who allegedly had sexual conversations with minors in his Discord server. Once these allegations were made public, many other Twitter users came forward with additional testimonies regarding this individual. The most concerning allegations within these testimonies were that this individual had lied about his race and identity in order to discriminate against, manipulate, and harass other Twitter users off the platform.

Said user has gone by many names and handles, but is most commonly referred to as Merlin. However, Merlin took little accountability, instead deactivating his Twitter and migrating to this platform. As a result, we will be informing users here of what took place so that they might avoid him. His current handle on Tumblr is @/bimbodykism (formerly @/lesbianismbutloser), but he is known to change his username frequently, often daily. In particular, he seems to change it whenever someone brings up his alleged previous actions and username(s) here.

Update: He now also has a Fate focused side blog titled "yaekoko".

If reading about this individual’s alleged prior behavior makes you uncomfortable, we recommend blocking him, as blacklisting will be very difficult. At the time he deactivated his Twitter account, he had stated himself to be 21 years old.

His alleged inappropriate behavior with minors included some individuals as young as 14 years old, who will not be named or specified for their safety and privacy. The following are alleged records of this individual’s sexual conversations with minors, as well as other concerning behavior:

Hello Reddit transfers! Here's some scam spotting tips

Hi! I'm Key (Or Jess), and I'm here to give you some tips to spotting scams. Think of my blog as a subreddit but with several posts a day that often show a scam post or give scam information. All this info is done as a hobby so I'll give you a rundown on the basics of how pet donation scams work here. If you like my hard work, feel free to throw me pocket change or check out my Ko-Fi where I take art commissions. Or just say thanks!

If you share a popular/trending text post, you may get an ask from a blog who wants you to share their pinned pet post. They'll ask you to answer the ask privately but urge you their pet is very ill and needs aid quickly. Commonly, this pet is a cat. But on occasion it's a dog. The ask will tell you their not a bot/etc and are just a person, promise!

If you check the blog, turn timestamps on under dashboard settings. By doing so, you'll get to see the date their pinned post was made. Usually, these posts are only a few hours old or even a few days old so always take caution if you see it's a post that isn't very old. This isn't always a red flag for a scam post, but it's advised to pay attention since you'll see these kind of things often enough since the scammer barely changes up their pattern.

Scrolling the account should also show you how many posts the blog has made. Often, you'll only find roughly 100 posts that are always made within minutes of the other. These posts come from a trending tag of the day generally and are rarely tagged since their just shared all at once and then nothing else. You will usually also see the archive has been turned off since the blog is set to only dashboard view and only accessible to logged in users. This measure isn't always a sign of a scammer, as users can have real reasons for this! But it's a common tactic for scam accounts.

The post tells you the cat/dog is suffering from some medical condition and claims the op will get paid in a few weeks but they need the money before then and they promise they'll pay you back when they reach their goal. Not all users who make posts like that are scam accounts and many of them are real people who will return the help once they can. The op will also tell you to send money by friends and family because they need it quickly and don't want it held up. Usually they'll have a link that will tell you to send them funds there.

However, you may notice some things are off in the post itself. While the op asks for USD, their pay link says their in the Philippines which is not USD and would require conversion rates to apply. Not all PH-based bloggers are scammers and some are disappointed that some people are. Its sadly a well known thing here that this scammer is from there but no one knows who they really are as every name used is stolen off a private aid group. Another thing to do is check the notes and see how many reblogs are directly from the op. Usually you'll find several.

If you want to, it is suggested to ask the op if they can provide you proof they own the cat/dog if your unsure of the legitimacy of their claim. For example, ask them to write their url on a piece of paper and take a picture of it on top of the pet they supposedly own or even post a short video of them calling the pet and holding the paper in sight. Usually this results in the op likely blocking you.

It's suggested to warn anyone sharing these scam posts and reporting scam accounts under Phishing as it's usually the fastest way to deal with them on a daily basis. This scammer has been doing this for years and even brags about how they get away with it since they make hundreds of dollars doing it and ruin the reputation of the names they steal.

These scammers are also stealing content from private facebook groups and reposting them here without the owner being aware of it. The scam accounts are saving pictures and passing them off as their pet. Watermark your vet bill and pet pics in your aid posts if you want to deter scammers from stealing it for future uses. If you are in a fb group that posts vet bill help, please inform them a scammer is going around taking their posts and reusing it for fraudulent reasons. I have seen cases where some scammers even used pictures off Reddit to use for scams.

The United States Embassy in London has been placed into lockdown due to a security threat according to multiple media reports.

A U.S. Embassy spokesperson said "Local authorities are investigating a suspicious package outside the US Embassy in London. Met Police are present and have closed Ponton Road out of an abundance of caution."

The London Metropolitan police said on a post on its X account: "We're aware of speculation online about an incident in the vicinity of the US Embassy in Nine Elms. Cordons are in place in the area as a precaution while officers investigate a suspect package. We will provide a further update in due course."

It later added: "We can confirm that the 'loud bang' reported in the area a short time ago was a controlled explosion carried out by officers. Enquiries are still ongoing and cordons will remain in place for the time being."

At least two users on X have posted about closures, to traffic and pedestrians, in the Nine Elms Lane area and reported "lots of armed police and fire trucks." Photos show officers on motorbikes and traffic cones on the scene.

One of them, Craig (@UKCraigP) said the police cordon had "now widened" with pedestrians "pushed further back" as the "tempo of activity (is) increasing."

Several people have also posted about the "loud bang" mentioned by the Met Police.

"The mission of the United States Embassy is to advance the interests of the United States, and to serve and protect U.S. citizens in the United Kingdom," its website says.

Americans in the U.K. use the embassy to renew their passports, report births abroad, vote internationally, deal with citizenship declarations and in the event of an emergency, such as an arrest.

It comes after the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine temporarily closed after a warning was issued over a "specific information of a potential significant air attack."

"The U.S. Embassy recommends U.S. citizens be prepared to immediately shelter in the event an air alert is announced," it said in a statement.

Employees were advised to monitor local media for updates, identify shelter locations they can go to in the case of any air alerts, take shelter if air alerts do sound and follow the instructions of Ukrainian officials and first responders.

Newsweek has contacted the U.S. Department of State, responsible for overseeing U.S. embassies, via email for comment. It has also contact the Metropolitan Police, via email, for comment.

- because eden and beckett quite literally grew up in different worlds, they have endless options when it comes to summer vacations. they spend half of their time in the attuneless world, the other half in the magickal world, acting as tour guides for one another.

- eden has a blast making up bizarre facts about tuneless things to trick the ever gullible beckett. she doubles down laughing when he realizes she’s messing with him.

- beckett always carries a camera with him when they go on trips. he purchased his first camera to capture photos of flora and fauna he would encounter on his ~ scientific nature ~ walks, and he’s gotten really good at photography. aside from greenery, eden is the subject of all his photographs.

- eden, on the other hand, snaps the randomest pictures of beckett with her phone. her photo album features beckett taking naps with his eyes slightly open, him shirtless doing morning yoga, eating something mid-bite, pointing out exhibits and plants in museums and nature, etc.

- it embarrasses beckett to no end and he’s always whining about his ‘reputation being ruined’ if those pictures were to somehow leak.

Mod Malware Situation Update

Edit 2023-06-09: The researchers have updated their guidance to all-clear on unmodded versions of Minecraft Java, and work continues with both CurseForge and Modrinth to improve safeguards against new variants or copycat attacks. They are still advising staying away from mods a bit longer while this work continues.

As an additional note, I want to clarify something I don't think was clear in my original post: this was not a failure on CurseForge. What went down here has happened to other platforms. It's just the first time such a malicious package attack has been observed in the Minecraft modding scene. It may not be the last.

As you may have seen yesterday, the modded Minecraft community is experiencing a malware incident.

The quick "do I need to worry" is if and only if all the following are true:

you are using Minecraft Java Edition

. . . and are using any mods or modpacks

. . . and those mods were downloaded/updated in the last 2-3 weeks or possibly as far back as March (timeline still unclear as of my post)

If any of the above were not true for you, then you should be clear. Investigators are advising maximum caution even of vanilla Minecraft, more on that at the end of this post.

If all of the above were true, don't panic. You just need to take a few extra steps to be sure.

A document for non-technical users explaining the situation in more detail and steps to take has been developed on github.

If you used any of the scripts from yesterday to verify your stuff, you may still want to try the new tools which will peak inside the mod files for that extra sure feeling.

Okay, so, why is the document recommending not even running even vanilla Minecraft Java

There are a lot of brilliant people working on this incident, and they're all smart enough to not give an all-clear until all the facts are known.

Everyone wants fast results. Accuracy takes time.

The way this malware worked was to infect all Java jar files it finds on the system.

Including Minecraft itself.

Including things that have nothing to do with Minecraft.

This spreading to infect other jar files appears to be how it spread to infect legitimate mod files:

The malicious mods have upload dates multiple weeks in the past. Most of them were uploaded by single-use accounts with clearly autogenerated names, and were likely the seed of the infection. Luna Pixel Studios was compromised due to a dev testing one of these mods, as it was an interesting new upload.

At the end of the day, it's all about risk. They can't give a clean bill of health just yet, so they won't. If it turns out that something bigger and nastier was happening, they'd be on the line for that.

This is also why every list of mods published by the investigators comes with the "not comprehensive" disclaimer -- it's what we know. What we don't know can still hurt us.

So, running vanilla launcher for vanilla Minecraft Java is considered a risk. It may be low-risk.

Is it a risk I'm willing to take? Maybe next week, when I know more. (I often wait a week after an update, which coincidentally happened yesterday, so this just happens to align with how I do things normally)

If it's a risk you take, just be safe, stay vigilant, and keep an eye on the main repository of information for more news because I am not a reliable reporter.

hi! yes, i will still be continuing to participate in art fight. no, the event is not over.

just to start off: i joined art fight as a user in 2016, was hired as a chat & site mod on february 2018, and resigned in march 2022. my resignation was due to the fact that at the time, i could no longer keep up with mod responsibilities while juggling school, work, and extracurricular activities.

right now, there's been staff resignations across the server/site for multiple reasons. i'm erring on the side of caution at the moment and will let further announcements disclose exactly why. nobody, former or current, is calling for boycotts. and personally, i'm of the opinion that referring to what's happening right now as a "strike" is inaccurate. you can continue working on your attacks and participating in the current event. every one of us loves art fight and would like to see it continue and have also worked to make sure that users are able to enjoy it as well. i would advise against donating to the site until the dust settles.

there's a lot of misinformation and out-of-context messages going around right now. please take these with a grain of salt: i saw a couple docs and screenshots going around with outdated or straight up incorrect information (for some reason i saw mentions of a data breach going around? there is no data breach, i don't know where people are even getting that from. furthermore, there is no "ceo of artfight". art fight is not a corporation or a company, so this language, to me, does not properly describe what's happening rn)
