How to start a used car trading business in Dubai, UAE
Tumblr media
As the new car market experiences a downturn, the pre-owned car sector in Dubai and the rest of the UAE is witnessing significant growth. In 2019, the UAE saw the sale of approximately 830,000 pre-owned vehicles, equating to 3.5 used cars for every new car sold. Predictions indicate that by 2025, the sales of used cars will surpass the one million mark annually.
This burgeoning sector, valued at USD 20 billion last year, is anticipated to expand at an 11% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2022 to 2027, reaching an estimated value of USD 32 billion.
With vehicle ownership in Dubai reaching record levels and continuing to rise with the population, the prospects for launching a used car trading enterprise in the UAE are promising.
How to Establish a Pre-owned Car Dealership in Dubai
UAE Initiating a business within the UAE is designed to be a swift and simple process, yet it necessitates familiarity with the nation’s commercial regulations. Thus, consulting with a regional specialist is recommended before embarking on this venture.
Following an initial consultation to grasp your objectives, we will assist you through the subsequent steps:
1- Choosing and Registering Your Business Name
Selecting a name for your pre-owned car business in Dubai is crucial. It’s important to avoid any names that might be deemed offensive or that resemble existing entities too closely.
Your chosen business name must be available for registration. It’s wise to have alternative names ready in case your preferred name is taken. We will handle the submission of your trade name registration for you.
2 — Obtaining a Business License
The next step involves applying for a license to trade pre-owned cars. The application process varies slightly between setting up on the mainland and in a free zone.
For free zones, the respective authority manages the license application, while the Dubai Department of Economic Development oversees mainland applications.
Our team at Private Wolf will advise on the optimal setup based on your specific needs and manage the licensing process on your behalf.
3 — Processing Your Visa
In addition to a trade license, you will need a visa to reside and conduct business in the UAE. The visa process includes medical and fitness tests, a blood test, a chest x-ray, and submitting biometric data for your Emirates ID.
We at Private Wolf will assist you through each step to streamline your visa application. Holding a UAE residency visa also allows you to sponsor dependents for their visa applications.
4 — Setting Up a Corporate Bank Account
The final hurdle before commencing your business operations is opening a corporate bank account in the UAE, which can be challenging for non-GCC citizens.
Private Wolf simplifies this process, leveraging our relationships with numerous UAE banks to recommend the best one for your banking needs.
Starting a pre-owned car trading venture in Dubai comes with an initial license fee of AED 13,800. Yet, this is just the beginning of the financial considerations. Entrepreneurs must also budget for visa expenses, premises rental, and hiring staff if necessary. Additionally, operating on the mainland might entail securing extra permits to commence trading. For a detailed and customized cost analysis, engaging with Private Wolf’s team can provide clarity and guidance.
Expanding Your Used Car Trading Enterprise in Dubai
To escalate your used car business in Dubai swiftly, conduct thorough market research to identify the most sought-after vehicles. For instance, SUVs represent a significant portion of the used car market in the UAE, suggesting a higher demand for these over smaller cars. Popular Japanese brands, especially Toyota, dominate the pre-owned car market, alongside other favored brands like Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Hyundai. Setting competitive prices by understanding market rates can accelerate sales and build customer trust. Moreover, considering expansion beyond the UAE offers lucrative opportunities, given Dubai’s strategic location that facilitates easy vehicle exports.
Profitability of the Used Car Market in Dubai
The used car sector in Dubai is undeniably profitable, with the average vehicle listing price hovering around AED 102,000. With a slowdown in new car production, the value of used cars is anticipated to climb. Profit margins can be increased by importing cars from Asian markets or exporting to burgeoning markets in North Africa.
The Viability of Car Flipping in Dubai
Car flipping in Dubai presents a viable business opportunity for those with a knack for finding deals. The profitability of flipping depends on various factors such as the car’s model, condition, and market demand. With the right strategy, there’s substantial potential for success in the Dubai used car market.

So, you lied to me? - Lando Norris x Tourist! Reader
Plot: Going on a travel year you end up in Monaco, the plan wasn't too fall for the man who helped you to the British Embassy and gave you a place to stay when someone stole everything from you ...
Credit to yrsonpurpose for the GIF
Tumblr media
You took a gap year before university and decided to travel you'd started off the New Year on a flight from London, to Qatar to New Zealand. You travelled around New Zealand and Australia for the majority of January, before moving on to Papa New Guinea, Fiji and Samoa.
You then travelled round the South Asian countries, like Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines and Taiwan all throughout February. You then moved onto China, doing both Disney Parks while you were there and sight seeing. You did South Korea and Japan.
Coming into April, you moved onto Sri Lanka and India, and The Middle East, doing Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrian, Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia.
Afterwards, now having done 2 continents, you moved onto Africa, you spent the end of April and the majority of May travelling here, before leaving for Europe.
A nice 2 weeks island hopping around Greece, before a week travelling up the boot of Italy.
It was when you drove to Monaco in a rental car that things got difficult.
You were walking along the harbor where all the expensive yachts were docked wishing that one could be yours. You didn't have all your bags on you, the larger ones left behind in the hotel room you'd booked for the night. But you had your important stuff on you, like you passport, your drivers license and all your travel documents.
You were taking a picture on your nice Canon camera of the yachts and the street that had weird red corners rounding it that you put down to being measures to just help drivers slow down round the corners, but they were definitely an eyesore.
Every time nice cars drove by there was whistles and claps that made you look at what car it was, you could never tell what model it was but they looked nice and you guess you could say sporty.
As you were distracted taking your pictures a guy comes up to you with a small, parcel cutting knife in his hand. He slit the straps of what you thought was a really sturdy bag and the weight notifies you to the loss of the bag. You let your camera drop as you turn to see the guy now holding your bag and starting to run away with it.
"Hey! Stop" you shout before running after him.
"Aide, Aide" you shout as you continue to follow him, your minimal French not helping as people scold you for being a bustly tourist.
You aren't really looking where you going and you loose him at a busy intersection of people, you spin round looking at every possible direction he could have gone in.
"Shit!" you whisper to yourself quietly tears coming in your eyes. You spin round a little to quickly, bumping into someone who drops the bag that they were holding.
"Désolé, mon erreur" you try looking at the young gentleman you'd bumped into in a hoodie and jeans. He looks at you with a confused look, a smirk coming onto his face.
"Oh sorry, tu ne parles pas français? Maybe Italian, erm fuck scusa, parli italiano?" you ask with again the bare minimum of Italian you know.
"I speak perfectly good English" he smiles, laughing a little as your expression turns to shock.
"Oh! Oh I'm so stupid. Hello!" you smile looking at the very attractive man in front of you, you blushed a little looking up at him.
"You look panicked what's wrong?" he asks.
"I was tacking pictures of the harbor and some guy took my bag. It has everything in of mine and I don't know what to do" You say to him looking a little more panicked.
"Everything as in money ... because I can help with that" he says placing a hand on your arm.
"I don't care about the money, but he has all of my documents. My passport, my drivers license everything" you cry a little.
"Oh! Erm, I have a friend who was born here, and let me get him and he can help us file a police report. Then mmm the British Embassy is all the way in Paris and you cant get a flight so we'll have to drive there..." he starts to rant and your face turned shocked.
"We?" you ask, confused as to how this guy has just inserted himself into your life drama's.
"Oh yeah, I've gotta help you out now. You got that whole damsel in distress thing going on right now! Any way damsel, what's your name?" he jokes and you look over at him offended.
"I am not a damsel in distress! And Y/N" you retort.
"You so are, the tear stains, the wide, helpless eyes, the guppy fish face your pulling right now, the butchered French and Italian to a strange man who actually is British... Y/N" he laughs making you pout and push him a little.
"I don't even have a place to stay after 3pm today and I cant check in anywhere without ID" you say rubbing your head, looking around as if the man would randomly pop back up and hand you your bag back before saying how sorry he was.
"You can stay at my place, I have two spare bedrooms" he smiles and you look at him in shock.
"You live here, in Monaco ..." you ask.
"Yeah, I moved here a few years ago, for ...work" he offers, he phones his friend walking off for a few seconds alone before he pulls you along one of the side streets and too a quiet cafe he went to, to keep under wraps.
"Okay, Y/N this is my friend ... er Percy" he says pointing to Charles, so far you hadn't shown any signs of knowing who he is and he didn't want you to catch wind of that.
"Hello Percy, its nice to meet you" you smile and he looks at you with a vacant yet confused expression.
"Oh and whose this you are beautiful" you compliment looking at the girl behind him.
"Y/N this is my girlfriend Alex" Charles indicates to Alex behind him who smiles and pulls you in for a kind hug that you definitely needed. You could hear both of their strong accents as they introduced himself.
"Oh, I never got you name, what's your name?" you ask turning to look at Lando, who freezes for a second.
"Erm, my names Robert, but you can call me Bob" he smiles and you raise and eyebrow at him.
"Hmmm, you don't look like a Robert... or a Bob. Interesting choice" you voice your opinion making everyone awkwardly laugh.
Charles, Lando and Alex took you to the nearest police station in Monaco, Charles translated what they were saying and you answered to which he and Alex would help translate back.
Charles explained that they were escalating it because you are a tourist in need, but you picked up some words that made the sentence not sound like that at all.
You were asked if you had a place to say and Lando explained you'd be staying with him until everything was sorted out.
The Monegasque police got in contact with the Paris British Embassy for you, they explained that the police had sent over you information and if you wanted to hold off on a new passport for a few days to see if it would turn up you were more than welcome, but right now your passport was on lockdown.
And that was how you ended up spending the end of July and all of August with Lando, it was strange really. For a man who had and extremely nice collection of clothes and a very large apartment he didn't go to work often. There was one room you weren't allowed in which is where he often went, you assumed it was a man cave or gaming room where he played with his friends because you heard lots of shouting and aggressive banging.
He'd been so sweet, he took you on dates from going out to dinner, to picnics, to going swimming and lots more. It felt like more than a summer fling. Especially once he asked you to be his girlfriend, which you immediately said yes too.
But he got a lot more twitchy after he had.
Eventually, Lando or Bob as you knew him took you to Paris so you could get your passport. He explained that he travelled a lot for work and he would need to leave soon and you explained that before you bumped into him you'd been on a gap year travelling the world.
"Baby, why don't you come with me?" he asked randomly as you were both lying on the sofa, cuddling while watching a film.
"You wont even tell me what you do for work Baby! And besides I had a schedule that I'm already behind on. A week ago you said you didn't mind going our separate ways for a little bit until Christmas and then you'd come to England with me" you say playing with his curls.
"Okay, I'm going to be honest with you now... my name isn't Bob" he says shyly and you sit up at the speed of light turning to look at him.
"I knew it! So you lied to me?" you exclaim laughing.
"So, what's my boyfriends actual name?" you ask looking him dead in the eyes, he leans up on his elbows before sitting the full way up.
"Lando, I am Lando Norris" he smiles.
"Hmmmm, Lando... Lando. I could get used to that" you smile.
"You aren't mad?" he asks looking over you, brushing you hair back and tucking it behind your ear before kissing your cheek.
"I knew you weren't being completely honest when we first met... but I also knew you had your own reasons" you offer.
"I think its going to be easier if I just hand you my Instagram" he admits with a gulp as he hands you his phone. The first thing you notice is how many followers he had, there was around 10million and he had nearly 2,500 posts.
You look at the friends list, and one peeks your interest. Charles Leclerc, who looked exactly like Percy who Lando had introduced you too.
You then go back and look at his bio, that told you his actual job.
"So, I'm dating a super famous athlete?" you ask looking up at him away from the phone to see his head down in his hands. He turns to the side to sneak a look at your expression, his eyes a little glossy.
"To be specific, a Formula 1 driver" you ask again and he nods.
"You are such a muppet, my god" you laugh before pulling him into a hug.
"How aren't you upset with me?" he ask unsure.
"Well, I agreed to date you, because you are you. I doubt you change into Mr Hyde when you become a what was is Porsche race-car driver? I fell in love with you, not Bob, not Lando, you. So whether that is Bob, who kindly helped a crying lady on the street who just had her passport stolen from her, or Lando a cool and amazing race-car driver. Whoever you are is the person I love" you grin and he pulls you into a hug.
"So you want to join me for the last few races? Or you want to finish this world trip of yours?" he asks.
"Well, looking at your calendar, I can actually meet you at the rest of the races, While travelling. I'll continue to do Europe until you have the Netherlands, and ill go back to Italy, just for you. I'll miss Azerbaijan and Singapore because I did that, but I'll knock out some of South America, I'll meet you for Austin, then we can do Mexico and Brazil together, then we can do Vegas together! And by that point I can call it done with my trip!" you exclaim and he looks like he considers it for a second.
He's shocked, he cant remember the last time a girlfriend tried so hard to link up their schedules like this, and proved that they'd be able to work despite some potential scheduling issues.
"I love you. I fucking love you" he grins pulling you back down onto the sofa kissing all over your face making you giggle.
A/N: I've been doing a lot of Lando recently, I don't know if you can tell but I love writing about him, he's my fav to write about right now.

Under the relentless blaze of the scorching sun, Bucky Barnes, the pampered scion of the country's largest retail business, was far removed from the air-conditioned boardrooms of his family's empire. Grumbling incessantly, he swatted away the relentless flies that seemed to thrive in the rural heat.
"Pick them up gently, Bucky. We don't want scrambled eggs before breakfast," Y/N instructed sternly, her eyes narrowing as Bucky clumsily reached for the first egg. The delicate shell slipped through his fingers, meeting the unforgiving ground with a sharp crack.
"Really, city boy? You gotta treat 'em like they're made of glass," Y/N scolded, her tone unyielding. Bucky, now sporting a mix of irritation and embarrassment, shot back with a sarcastic retort.
"Glass? They're just eggs, not Fabergé. And who knew these chickens were so high-maintenance?"
Bucky, wiping sweat from his brow, replied with a half-smile of his own, “This is absurd. I'm a Barnes, not a farmer.”
How could the sole heir of the country's largest retail company find himself toiling like this? It all stemmed from a bet he made with his father.
Tumblr media
2 weeks ago:
Under the glittering Dubai night sky, Bucky, driven by the thrill of rebellion, decided to join a race car event despite his father's explicit warnings. The roar of the engines reverberated through the darkness as Bucky sped along the circuit, the city lights blending into a streak of colors.
As Bucky pulled into the pit garage, the bright lights revealed an unexpected sight – his father, stern-faced and waiting. The realization struck Bucky like a sudden brake, his heart pounding in rhythm with the fading echoes of the race.
His father's disapproval was palpable as he approached, a storm gathering in his gaze.
"Dad!" Bucky exclaimed, but his words were drowned by the tirade that followed. His father, fueled by a mix of anger and concern, chased after him, leaving no room for escape.
The victory that should have been a sweet taste of triumph was overshadowed by the looming storm of his father's wrath.
His father, face etched in a stern expression, strode towards Bucky, a potent mix of anger and disappointment simmering beneath the surface. Bucky's heart sank, realizing that the victory he had just tasted was now tainted by the disapproval in his father's eyes.
"Damn it!" Bucky muttered as he reluctantly shut off the engine and climbed out of the race car. His father's presence loomed over him, a formidable figure casting a shadow on Bucky's moment of recklessness.
His dad, arms crossed, began to unleash a torrent of frustration. "For the whole year, you roamed overseas to live your wildlife. You promised me after graduating that you'd take a year off before entering the company."
Bucky hails from a family that owns the largest retail company in the country, a business empire built over generations. As the sole heir to this colossal enterprise, Bucky enjoys the privileges that come with his family's success.
Bucky is set to inherit Verve, a retail giant in the country. Despite the family's success, his spoiled and impulsive nature creates a conflict between his privileged upbringing and the responsibilities tied to the business.
Seated on a nearby bench, Bucky nibbled on his snacks, a subconscious attempt to deflect the gravity of the situation. His eyes, darting between the snacks and his father, conveyed a mix of guilt and defiance.
He heard his father's words but struggled to understand why he, the heir to the family's business empire, should start as an intern when his friends effortlessly landed positions in their family companies.
"Why intern, Dad?" Bucky interjected his tone, a mix of frustration and confusion. "We own the company. Why don't I get the same treatment as my friends?"
The tension in the pit garage hung thick as his father expressed his feelings. "I'm fed up with it!" he declared, his voice a mixture of anger and disappointment.
Bucky, attempting to downplay the situation, replied nonchalantly, "Dad, chill. At least I gained some money from this."
His father responded swiftly and cut, "And you blew it all in a second! How can I trust our company to you?"
He rubbed his chest, a physical manifestation of the stress and disappointment weighing on him. "I feel like our ancestors are judging me. They were never big spenders like you."
A moment of silence followed as both father and son grappled with the underlying issues. Bucky's father couldn't shake the feeling that he had spoiled Bucky too much, especially since the loss of Bucky's mother when he was still young.
Feeling offended, Bucky retorted, "Do you think I can't handle my own money? I could make a million in one week."
"Really?" his father questioned, a skeptical look in his eyes.
Bucky, fueled by pride, affirmed, "Yes."
The challenge was set. Bucky's father nodded, "Alright, if you could make our farm profitable with a million, I will give you any position you want in the company."
"Really?" Bucky's eyes widened, a glimmer of opportunity sparking.
"Yes. If you manage to do it, I will never interfere with your life anymore," his father declared. Both of them shook hands, sealing the deal.
But then came the unexpected twist. "By the way, I'm going to cut all your access to your money," his father dropped the bomb.
"What?" Bucky exclaimed, shock and disbelief etched across his face.
"Your great-grandfather started his business with $100. You need to appreciate money, stop wasting it all in one day," his father explained sternly.
"But how am I going to live without money?" Bucky protested, a hint of desperation creeping into his voice.
"I've provided everything you need on the farm," his father countered, emphasizing the gravity of the challenge. "You're my only son, and I don't want you to be a wastrel!"
The moment's intensity lingered in the air as the weight of the challenge and the drastic shift in Bucky's circumstances began to sink in.
Bucky couldn't help but roll his eyes at the daunting challenge ahead. "Fine. I'll show that I can do it on my own. How difficult can it be?" he muttered, perhaps more to reassure himself than anything else.
Tumblr media
Oh, how he wished he could take those words back as his Ferrari pulled up to the family farm, the only luxury permitted by his father. To his dismay, the farm appeared desolate and barren, a stark contrast to the lavish lifestyle he was accustomed to.
Bucky, sporting his usual city-boy ensemble of expensive leather shoes and a sleek leather jacket, stepped out of the pristine car only to find the uneven terrain immediately wreaking havoc on his attire. Mud splattered on the once-immaculate leather shoes, a cruel irony of the stark contrast between luxury and the rustic farm reality.
As Bucky surveyed the damage to his meticulously polished shoes, his eyes widened with panic. "No, no, no. You’ve got to be kidding me," he muttered frantically, attempting to wipe away the mud with his hands, only succeeding in making matters worse.
The realization of his Red Ferrari parked amidst the farm's untamed landscape hit him like a ton of bricks.
A look of horror crossed Bucky's face as he surveyed the mud-smeared exterior of his prized possession. "This is not happening," he exclaimed, his voice laced with a mix of disbelief and anxiety.
The once-gleaming Ferrari now stood as a symbol of the clash between opulence and the unyielding demands of rural life, leaving Bucky in a state of mild panic about the fate of his beloved car amid this unexpected farm adventure.
His panic only intensified as he turned his attention to the house assigned to him. It was a far cry from the sleek, modern apartment he was accustomed to. With its weathered exterior and superficial charm, the rustic farmhouse left Bucky in shock.
"Wait, this is my house?" he stammered, disbelief etched across his face. The reality of the situation sank in, and Bucky grappled with the stark contrast between the urban comfort he knew and the quaint simplicity of his new rural abode.
In sheer disbelief, Bucky scratched his head and pulled at his hair. "How am I going to do this? I'm so dead," he lamented, realizing the task's magnitude.
Just as the weight of the situation began to sink in, a voice disrupted his thoughts. "James Barnes?"
Turning around, Bucky saw a woman seated in a farm truck, wearing a practical flannel grey shirt. She stepped out of the truck, her attire markedly suitable for the farm environment.
Still grappling with the shock of the situation, Bucky mustered a response, "The one and only call me Bucky. And you are?"
Undeterred by his casual attitude, the woman retorted with a smirk, "The one who will make your life miserable."
Bucky's eyes widened in disbelief. "Is this how you introduce yourself when meeting a new person?" he shot back, a mixture of surprise and amusement playing across his face.
Y/N's face remained stoic, her expression unwavering as she delivered the news to Bucky. "I will be straight to the point; your life won't be easy like in the city," she asserted, leaning down to rest her hands on the wooden rail. "I'll be your mentor."
With a pointed finger, she continued, "We're neighbors. My dad asked me to help you." Her tone hinted at an unspoken determination to ensure Bucky's time in the town would be far from a leisurely escape. She was poised, ready to make him regret ever leaving her domain.
Flashback start
Y/N had returned from the farm two days prior, dropping fresh milk on the kitchen cabinet with plans to make cheese—her mother's favorite. Her family, owners of a dairy farm and several crops, had a livelihood deeply rooted in agriculture. The biggest of their ventures was their dairy farm.
As Y/N washed her hands, her father said their family would assist their new neighbor. Y/N, although accustomed to helping neighbors, Y/N couldn't hide her disdain when she heard the name 'Barnes.' She gritted her teeth at the mere mention of the family.
Her aversion to the 'Barnes' name was reflected in her unyielding body language, a subtle tension in her shoulders, and a clenching of her jaw. The prospect of aiding Bucky, the city boy from the family she held some resentment toward, added an unexpected layer of complexity to her already busy life on the farm.
Years ago, in their relentless pursuit of expanding their retail empire, the Barnes family made a business move that significantly impacted Y/N's family farm. The Barnes Corporation, seeking to acquire more land for development, had set its sights on the quaint farmland owned by Y/N's family.
Despite Y/N's family's resistance and the sentimental value attached to their land, the Barnes Corporation, driven by profit, successfully carried out the acquisition, leaving Y/N's family with no choice but to relinquish the farm that had been in their possession for generations.
The ruthless business dealings and lack of empathy from the Barnes family left a bitter taste in Y/N's mouth.
Despite the Barnes Corporation's relentless pursuit of their farmland, Y/N's family salvaged a small piece of their ancestral land.
But, the memories of losing her family's cherished farm to the corporate giant fueled Y/N's resentment and distaste for the Barnes family.
Flashback end
Y/N flashed Bucky an assuring smile, though it carried an undercurrent of intimidation. Her expression was a blend of warmth and a silent warning. Bucky, feeling the weight of the unspoken challenge, involuntarily gulped.
It was a realization that, from that moment onward, his life was destined to be anything but easy. The smile that seemed promising also bore the weight of a mentorship that would test his resilience in the unfamiliar terrain of the farm.
Still processing the intensity of Y/N's smile, Bucky mumbled uncertainly, “What have I gotten myself into? ... and I have no clue where this is headed." With a mix of trepidation and curiosity in his eyes, he took a hesitant step forward, realizing that the journey ahead was bound to be far more intricate than he had initially bargained for.

I got into the void using your challenge: live update
Day 1:
I said isn’t it wonderful once every hour: everytime I felt doubt I reminded myself isn’t it wonderful and the doubt went away. It kept me in very good mood and my desires did feel closer to me more than ever
Day 2:
Like the challenge said I started my day with Isn't it wonderful that I love and accept my godly ability to choose my reality, and I said that once and mediated on my limited beliefs to and tried to question why I should have them when I am god. I felt like a new person
I manifested so many things. Free coffee’, a cute man asking for my number, so many compliments from strangers which rarely happens, and not being late to class even though I’m always late. I was already becoming my dream self I envision after the void
I have a good vision board I was using for my visuals. Everytime something reminded me of my 3D, I stared at it on my phone to remind myself of the life I am living so why am I concerned, and I repeated isn’t it wonderful to remind myself of my wonderful life, it worked like a charm pun intended
It is night time so I am going to listen to the third video you recommended.
Tomorrow I will write about how grateful I am for all my desires that have manifested and meditate on the phrase it is done. My dream life is already here even if not in the 3D yet I have already become my imagination and I’m excited to fulfill my desires on the fourth day and I will message you my success story.
Day 3:
Today is my last day and I am already fulfilled. It really is wonderful. This morning I got up at 3 am (Happy Aïdd) and prayed on all the things I am grateful for. I went to sleep and woke up again. And journaled about all the wonderful things I have. My wealth, my beauty, my kind heart, the wonderful celebration in my beautiful house I am having with my family, my wonderful fiancé, mastery of the void state, the millions dollars of income I have flowing in my bank account yearly, my healthsafety and protection from god, all things that will be fulfilled the next time I close my eyes and open it. Then I wrote all my goals for the rest of the year, business plans, school plans, wedding plans, trip plans etc etc. this is a normal thing for me. Poor wife reader having a bad day and just wanting to be held but Bruce locked himself in the cave to work and her just “I thought having a husband meant I’d have someone to hold me at night” (not in a mad or petty way just a “I’ve had a bad day and so I’m really sensitive and maybe saying things without thinking or filtering them”) and it shooting bruce right in the heart.
I just want to see bruce learning how to be a healthy partner after shutting everyone out for so long
"Are you alright?"
You glance up from your mug, cradled carefully in your hands and force yourself to smile. "Just a long day."
Alfred nodded, "Is there anything-"
"No, I'm alright, thank you. I'm just going to finish my drink and go to bed."
"Very well," Alfred said. "I think Master Bruce is... preparing for a trip if you'd like me to alert him you've returned home."
You shake your head and card your fingers through your hair, "I'll leave him to it. When I called him earlier he seemed... busy." And grumpy. You add silently. And you can't regulate other people's emotions right now. Today was hell. And Bruce was busy. A case he couldn't tell you about.
When you looked back down at your mug, curled around yourself for comfort, Alfred suspected it was more than a long day. You had a full plate. And it seemed like more was added every day. Meetings, appointments, and now interviews and adjusting to having a very public marriage... He didn't envy you.
Or wonder why you might not particularly want company. Just the breif glimpses he's had into your day to day made him wonder how you didn't pull your hair out. So he took his leave. Letting you enjoy some semi silence and a few moments just to have no one speaking to you. And made a mental note to keep more of that particular tea in the pantry. You seemed to enjoy it more than the others. Or at least... you were most familiar with that one. He shuttered to think what would have passed for tea in your house growing up.
____________
When you slipped into the bedroom, rubbing your neck, Brucce looked up from his packing.
He might be going to Dubai as Batman but... Who knew if Bruce Wayne could smooth some things over for him. It happened like that some times.
"I didn't know you were home," he said blinking. "I thought you had a late meeting."
"I wasn't feeling well," you shrug. "I just wanted-" You break off. What you wanted was to curl up in his lap and go to sleep. But. If he was getting ready to go there was no point.
"Sweetheart," he said, frowning slightly, "If this is about earlier-"
"When you hung up on me? No."
"I had another call- Hal-"
"You're a part time super hero. I get it. I just-"
"Spit it out," he prompted, smiling a little. You didn't want to hurt his feelings. And you were tired.
"I just wish I didn't feel like a part time wife."
That hurt. And he tried not to let it show on his face, but it must have. Because you winced and started stammering apologies.
"Oh sweetheart," he sighed. He knew you'd been lonely. Almost from the start. As soon as the honeymoon was over and real life slammed back into focus.
"I know Gotham has to come first. And the the Justice League but I just... I'm sorry I shouldn't have said anything."
He can see you bracing for a fight. That you were reading his body language and it told you he was angry. Yours of experience telling you that he could hurt you. That he could use things you'd told him in vulnerable moments to smack you back in line- and that you're ready to roll over to avoid the pain- and that hurts too.
Because he is angry. But not at you.
All you ever wanted was him. His time. His attention. All the gifts he bought for you were nice. You appreciated them. But all you wanted was a quiet night in, half asleep on his chest.
No diamonds, new cars, or fancy dinners would do that for you. He could hand you his credit card and send you to Paris on a shopping spree and you MIGHT buy something but- more probably you'd just shrug and go look for a stand that sold fresh pastry. It was one of the things he loved about you. You'd learned to march to the beat of your own drum. To love generously. And that's why as you stood there apologizing, all he could do was let the words wash over him.
"You should come first," he corrected.
"Bruce-"
"No listen," he said, crossing the floor to you carefully and taking your hands. "You should come first. And I'm sorry that you can't right now. I'm going to make it up to you-"
"You don't have to," you murmur, looking away.
"Yes, I do," he said, tilting your chin up slowly. "I don't know how. Or when. But I'm going to make this right."
"I'm a big girl, I understand that you have responsibilities-"
"And taking care of you is one of them," he reminded, pulling you against his chest and hoping that he could hug you hard enough to make you understand."And it's an honor. And a privlige. And a responsibility all that the same time. You shouldn't feel like a part time wife, sweetheart."
"I'm sorry-"
"I'm not," he said simply. "Because now that I know there's a problem I can fix it."

Sunsets and footballers (Part 42)
Alexia Putellas x Character (9)
Masterlist (other parts here)
((**Mentions of Lucy/YFN.* *What happens when two dominant people start falling for each other? This... :')* *I think this is my favourite chapter so far...**))
Alexia had her arms crossed over her body as she watched Lucy and her girlfriend through the glass at the airport. Lucy was the type of person to be so brutal on the field, so dedicated in her work, and so unapologetically independent. There were occasions where she was excited enough for physical contact with people, though they were rare, because that was the soft side of her that you only see if you truly knew her well. Even then, she hid it extremely well, even when she was with Keira.
Not now though. Alexia watched Lucy and YFN move like there was a cord connected between them, their movements naturally synced and complementing each other. And then there were the looks, the longing, the love, the hopeless expressions that were exchanged with smiles and blushes, many of which were one staring without the other noticing. It made Alexia feel a lot of things to see them like this. To see Lucy be so happy, so touchy, so in love. It now made sense to her why Lucy was always lost in a daydream since she’d returned from the last international break. Because she was always thinking about her; because this was one of those things you only see in movies or read about in poetry.
“They are cute, no?”
Alexia flinched at the voice which was a lot closer than she expected. She turned to Ridley who was leant against her car, hands clasped casually behind her back as she studied Alexia’s face. Her famous all-too-neutral expression usually helped her disguise her emotions, yet she felt Ridley could see right through it. And she could. Just the slightest hint of downturned eyebrows, her mouth set a little too hard, and the biggest giveaway, her eyes. Alexia’s eyes were like an open book for her, betraying her deepest feelings, and right now she could see…longing.
“I guess.”
“I prefer absolutes.”
Alexia raised an eyebrow, her face otherwise staying the same. “Is there a way to absolutely tell if tonight is going to be awkward between the two of us?”
Ridley smiled and Alexia watched the scar on her cheek shift with the movement of her face. “Awkward is fun, no?” She pushed off from the car and opened the door, gesturing Alexia in as if she were a chauffeur. “La Reina.”
Alexia looked at the fact that she’d opened the rear car door, and not the front. She was unsure if Ridley expected her to call her bluff, but she did anyways. She slid into the back seat as if she were an actual Queen, and Ridley an actual chauffeur. Bluff called. Alexia watched a smile creep over her face at her unexpected cheekiness as she closed the door. Alexia 1, Ridley 0.
“Ridley! It’s been too long! How are you?” The restaurant owner was gushing over the couple as they came in. “And I see your taste in women is impeccable, how lucky we are for you to bring the la Reina to our little restaurant.”
Ridley shared a grin and a polite half-hug with him. Did she know everyone? “Emiliano, I hope your family are well. Yes, I’ve been busy. I took a few contracts in Dubai recently so I’ve been gone for most of the year there.”
Alexia’s interest peaked at that. That’s where she’d been?
“My daughter wants to do that one day too. She’s so excited! Won’t shut up about it. Oh well, I’m glad you’re back. You look beautiful, as do you, Miss Putellas. As luck would have it, I have your favourite table free! Follow me.”
Usually Alexia was the centre of attention. The one who lead the way and had to do all of the talking and pleasantries. Here with Ridley she felt the opposite and it was…incredibly refreshing. Alexia followed closely behind Ridley, studying her back as she walked with such confidence. They reached her ‘favourite table’ which sported a stunning view of the city, but also retained a little privacy from half of the restaurant. In addition to that, she couldn’t help but realise how humble Emiliano had been when he’d said ‘little restaurant’. It looked and felt Michelin Star. Emiliano shared a gesture with Ridley that she didn’t see, and he stepped back as Ridley took his place to push Alexia’s chair in behind her. Another new fact about Ridley she’d just learnt. Chivalry. Alexia 1 – Ridley 1.
Ridley sat opposite her and pulled her own seat in. Alexia watched the two exchange a few more pleasantries and small talk before he gave them the chef specials and recommendations and left with a smile. The restaurant was so nice that the menus didn’t have prices. Cost was never a factor for Alexia anymore, though she felt like it helped her get to know the woman opposite her a little more. Gone were the days of the mysterious woman from the bar. Or so she thought.
They weren’t speaking, though it wasn’t uncomfortable. In fact, Alexia felt very comfortable, even with the astonishingly distracting tension between the two. If Ridley felt it, she hid it well. Alexia stared at the menu, not really seeing the words until two fingers gripped the top of her menu and gently lowered it so she could see her eyes.
“Are you going to hide behind your menu all night?”
“I was considering it.” She murmured, embarrassed she’d just been called out. Usually Alexia was the cool, calm person in control.
“And deprive me of those eyes?”
There’s that cheeky audacity. She made it worse by keeping that eye contact, making Alexia feel seen. And surprisingly safe also.
Alexia thought it best to not encourage her. “Any suggestions?”
“The salmon. I dreamt about it for days after.”
Everything sounded so flirty from her mouth. Perhaps it was.
“Okay.” She said and put her menu down as if to show she was done hiding. “And for you?”
Ridley hadn’t even opened her menu.
“Emiliano suggested the sirloin. Are you okay with wine during your season?”
“Si.”
Ridley raised her hand without her elbow leaving the table, and a server appeared, as if she’d been watching. Ridley handed her both menus and ordered for both of them with a wine pairing. Alexia noticed the girl staring at Ridley as if she was in love with her, or as if they’d had sex. After a few more seconds, she would have put money on it being the latter. Her emotions were poorly covered with longing looks and presumably old memories. Ridley’s expression, however, didn’t change. It was neutral, polite, unbothered. Usually in a situation like this, the person would be extra cold, or awkward, or making it obvious that it had meant nothing to them. Ridley did none of those things because she actually cared. Alexia had noticed that about her. She was so aware of people’s feelings, her intelligence shining through and although she had a perfectly composed self, that deep part of her could be brought out. She’d seen it in the worry in her eyes last night. She’d seen it in her amused expression in the rear-view as she and YFN had their little back and forth in the car. She’d seen it in the melancholy look that appeared for a split second when Alexia had said she was going to spend Christmas with her family.
When the server was gone, Ridley’s attention turned back to her date and just when Alexia thought she’d say something teasing, she did the opposite.
“I apologise for last night, Alexia. I…mishandled the entire situation. I won’t give you any excuses. Simply, you deserved better.”
It was short and eloquent. Not riddled with personal wants and needs and reasons and excuses. Just a genuine apology. Unfortunately, that made Ridley even more attractive to her than she already was.
“I accept your apology. Thank you for saying that.”
She wondered if that was it. If that was all Ridley wanted from their dinner tonight. She really just wanted to get to know her better, and she didn’t know why.
“Can I ask you something personal?”
“Sure, I’ll try my best to answer it.”
Alexia hesitated, which she rarely did. “In the car when you asked me about Christmas, you seemed upset. Why?”
Ridley stared into her eyes as if she were wondering how honest she should be. “Because I don’t have a family. I have YFN and her nan and her brother, but we’re not biologically related.”
No family? “Why..?”
“It would dampen the mood of tonight.”
“I want to know. Besides, what do you expect from tonight?”
“I expect to have dinner with you and apologise. I’d say we’re off to a great start.”
“Ridley-”
Ridley’s eyes flashed something unknown. It was the first time she’d heard her name from Alexia’s lips.
“I’m much more than my past.”
Alexia knew that, of course, but could also tell it was Ridley’s way of asking her to stop. So she did.
“I know you are.”
Before Ridley could respond, the server was back with the wine. She held it up for Ridley to look at and she tasted it like a wine connoisseur before she accepted it. Alexia noticed the server intentionally brushing Ridley’s fingers with her own, hoping for a reaction. Most people would have reacted to the touch, but Ridley remained indifferent and polite.
“I have another question.”
“By all means.”
One of the benefits of them both having dominant personalities was their ability to be straight to the point and honest.
“What do you want from me?”
Ridley took a sip while she thought. “In general or tonight?”
“Both.”
“Tonight I wanted to apologise and make sure you have a nice meal after your game. In general, I’m not entirely sure.”
She was unsure what she wanted from her?
“Last night you said a few things I’d like clarification on.”
Ridley gave her a look that said she already knew what those things were. “I’ll do my best.”
“Four questions. Firstly, you said that you ‘come here to see’ me?”
“To the bar, yes. Exactly how you go just to see me.”
It wasn’t cockiness, it was an observant fact. She knew she was going just for her? Alexia felt herself getting shy. She was rarely shy. She pushed that aside.
“That’s fair,” she murmured. “You also said ‘I don’t think of you like that’.”
“I don’t. You’re much more than a body to me.”
“What am I?” It wasn’t one of her questions but she couldn’t help but whisper it.
Ridley frowned. “I’m not sure yet.”
“Is that why you ‘don’t know how to give me anything else’?”
“I don’t date, Alexia.”
“And you just assume that I do?”
“Do you not?”
She frowned. She did. “You didn’t give me a choice.”
“There was no choice to offer. We didn’t know each other. We still don’t.”
“We could have changed that if you hadn’t left.”
Those words hung in the air between them. Ridley had left, and she knew it would have hurt her, but she assumed it would hurt her less than actually getting to know her for who she was. Ridley didn’t open up to people. Better to leave than break her heart.
The server arrived again during their silence, and placed their food in front of them, giving an extra sweet smile to Ridley. She pretended not to see it, her eyes on Alexia.
“I’m excited for you to try that, the chef is incredible.” Ridley’s eyes flickered to Alexia’s dish while Alexia continued to stare at her.
“Why did you leave?”
She sighed and caught Alexia’s eye again.
“Because I’m not good for you.”
“Why?”
“Trust me, Alexia. I’m not good for anybody.”
“You’re good enough for the women you fuck.” Alexia’s jealousy hit like a slap in the face. Usually people enjoy seeing their partners jealous for them. Ridley, however, didn’t want to see Alexia upset in any way.
“They mean nothing to me.”
Questions swam in Alexia’s eyes. “Were you trying to push me away…?”
That surprised her. Alexia’s jealousy hadn’t hindered her confidence. She knew her worth. It was an alarmingly attractive quality for Ridley. “Yes.”
Alexia was grateful for the fact that Ridley didn’t lie. She’d answer honestly or not at all. “Why?”
“I told you why.”
“You never gave me a chance…”
Again, those words hung in the air and the heartbreak on Alexia’s face almost broke her. Ridley had never felt like that before. She never let herself get close enough to. “I’m not good for you..” she repeated as if she hadn’t understood the first time. It was a weak argument.
“And you’ve just made that decision for me then? I don’t get to decide what is and isn’t good for me? What I do and don’t want?” Alexia was a softy at heart and although she was fierce with her words, unfallen tears were building up in her eyes. “You may be used to being in control and telling people what to do, but you don’t get to do that with me. Not right now.”
It was like two dominant animals butting heads. Both knew their worth, and Ridley had absolutely done the wrong thing by shutting Alexia out. Though she’d told herself she hadn’t owed her anything, she knew she did from that very first moment they’d locked eyes in the bar almost a year ago. Everything she’d done from then had been for her, and without her having a say in the matter. She hadn’t realised how selfish she’d been. She’d convinced herself she was doing the right thing by her and her feelings, without considering her actual feelings, because Alexia had been just as involved as she was. She’d underestimated that.
“You’re right.”
Alexia was also surprised at how easy she’d admitted that. She opened her mouth to reply and was cut off.
“Eat your food before it’s cold. Then we’ll talk.”
That was a good example of the type of control Alexia could accept from her. But not her avidly taking away her choices regarding her emotions.
The salmon was incredible, and she told her just as much. Ridley was happy at that. The wine pairing went down perfectly with their food and soon enough, the plates were replaced with the dessert menu.
“I can’t…” Alexia started to say before she was distracted reading the menu.
“We can share.”
Their eyes met, both happy at the compromise. Alexia smiled and Ridley’s heart almost stopped at that. She was stunning. She didn’t know if she could tear her eyes from her lips, but luckily she was torn away by the server again.
“What can I get for you two?”
“We’re sharing.” She said, clapping her menu closed and handing it over, looking at the Barcelona Captain. “It’s your choice.”
The server looked a little upset by that, and almost unwillingly turned her attention to Alexia.
“The crema catalana, please.”
She gave her menu to the server who nodded and left. Only then did she see the grin on Ridley’s face, and couldn’t help her face reflecting it.
“What?”
“That’s my favourite. Anything with custard, or similar to it.”
It was another rare fact that Ridley happily shared with her. She made a mental note of it.
“Can we continue?”
“If you’d like.”
“I would.” Alexia was suddenly a little shy again. “You admit that I’m right?”
“Yes.”
“Care the expand on that?”
“It was…selfish of me to make decisions for you. I convinced myself it was what was best for you.”
“And if you hadn’t thought it was what was best for me?”
“I’d have fucked you many, many times, in many different ways by now.”
The comment was crass, but her expression wasn’t. She meant it.
“You don’t date…” She repeated from Ridley’s earlier statement.
“No.”
“Why?”
“Many reasons.”
“Such as?”
Ridley sighed. She obviously wasn’t going to let it go. “I’m…broken. I can’t love.  I discovered that when I was younger and made the mistake of being with people who I knew would fall for me and breaking their hearts. I didn’t want to do that to you.”
“You’ve never loved anyone?”
Ridley’s melancholy flashed across her face briefly. “I love YFN. I loved my brother.”
Loved. Alexia didn’t even have to ask the question.
“He’s dead.”
“And your family?”
Her jaw flexed. “The same.”
Alexia’s heart dropped. No wonder she’d looked so sad when Alexia had said she was spending Christmas with her family. She thought that ‘I don’t have a family’ meant they’d chosen to not recognise her for her sexuality or didn’t get along. She never assumed they were gone.
“I’m so-”
“Please don’t. I don’t want pity. It happened. It’s done.”
She left it for a minute before she whispered the next question. “Is that why you think you’re broken?”
“Alexia, I don’t want to talk about my past, or my faults tonight, please. I just want to have dinner with you.”
Her heart softened up at that admission. “We can do that…”
“Good.”
The crema catalana arrived then, with two spoons. Ridley picked hers up and noticed Alexia hadn’t taken hers. She was lost in thought. She took a breath and reached out, her fingers lightly touching one of Alexia’s hands on the table. That broke her thought as her eyes snapped up to meet Ridley’s.
“I’ll allow you one more question before we eat.”
It took her a few seconds to decide on which question to ask, Ridley’s fingertips warm and soft and distracting.
“Why did you leave?” She whispered.
“Because I was scared I would let you in if I stayed.”
Alexia inhaled sharply, blinking tears away. She wasn’t crazy. They did have a strong connection. And Ridley had just admitted that, unashamedly. Alexia knew how hard that must have been for her.
“Now eat, la Reina.”
The two ate dessert, unable to stop their satisfied hums as they did so, because it tasted incredible. Alexia made a note of the restaurant. She wanted to come back and bring her entire family and friends. As she thought that, the idea of Ridley being alone in the restaurant tugged at her heartstrings. Of course she’d never be alone. She’d be with a girl or a colleague, but that didn’t stop the fact that she’d be alone and would feel like it. Because no one can fill that empty space of family.
They finished quickly, Ridley paying for the meal before Alexia had a chance to argue. They said their goodbyes to Emiliano and this time when they reached the car, Ridley held the passenger door open for her.
Alexia’s grandmother’s house wasn’t far from the restaurant, and the drive was a comfortable, safe silence with Spanish music playing in the background softly. They’d both asked enough questions for the night.
As they arrive out the front, Ridley opened her door for her, and took her overnight duffle out, walking her up to the front door. The porch light was a dull yellow which made the gold flecks in Ridley’s eyes stand out even brighter. They shared a wordless smile until the sound of laughing filtered out through one of the front windows, and Ridley’s smile faltered a little. Alexia wanted to hug her, to kiss her, to invite her into her welcoming family and make her feel loved. All of that would have been too much though and besides, Ridley escaped before she had a chance to do anything.
She leant down and her lips brushed her cheek in a soft kiss. Alexia leant into her, and they stood like that for a little before Ridley was gone without a look back.

Ch 11 - The Ice Man Job
Series Rewrite Masterlist
Pairing: Eliot Spencer x Ford!Reader
Description: With Sophie gone to find herself, the crew is out a grifter. This leads to Hardison getting a little cocky when clearing their client's name from a diamond theft.
Words: 7077
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The room felt a bit empty with Sophie gone; I could tell Parker felt the same as she shifted across the couch, trying to fill the space during the briefing. Hardison stood at the front of the room telling us about Jim Kerrity who was in charge of Kerrity Diamonds. In his four years of being in charge, he’s run the business into the ground by living beyond his means with addictions and party expenditures.
Eventually Hardison was getting annoyed with Parker’s shifting, “What? Why? What are you doing?” He asked her.
“What?” She replied.
“It’s distracting,” Eliot exclaimed.
“The couch is feeling a little empty,” she explained, her voice a little distressed.
“Eliot, sit next to Parker,” Nate said.
“No, I’m sitting here!”
I turned to Parker from my curled up position on the edge, “I can try to spread out a bit, would that help?”
Her face scrunched in a frown, trying to think.
“Guys, guys,” Nate interjected, “We all miss Sophie, I… We just have to adapt.”
“I got this,” Hardison said, walking towards Parker, “Move, go. Bye, go.” He motioned for her to scootch to the center of the couch and sat next to her. “You happy?” He asked, only continuing in the briefing once she nodded.
“Kerrity’s finances are a mess. Maxed out, maxed out, overdrawn,” Hardison explained. “According to the insurance claim, he stands to gain nine million from the armored car robbery.”
“A guy like this gets in over his head and the insurance policy starts to look attractive,” Nate summed up.
“Hires a couple of thugs, knocks off his own truck,” Eliot said.
“It’s a sweet payout, too,” Hardison admitted. “He gets the insurance claim, plus he still has the diamonds.”
“Mmhmm, and honest people like Joey take the heat,” Eliot finished.
“The thing about this that people don’t understand is insurance fraud, it’s a lot of red tape,” Nate explained, “and with a big claim like this it’ll take a year before Kerrity sees any money. Bill collectors are not gonna wait around.”
“He’s gotta fence the diamonds,” Eliot said.
“He can’t,” Parker stated.
“What?” I asked, everything moving a bit fast.
“His diamonds are GIA certified VVS clarity, all about two carats,” Parker rattles off, stealing the remote from Hardison.
“That’s my clicker,” Hardison pointed out, annoyed.
“Who stole the Polar Star?” Parker asked, raising her hand, “Who stole the Gem of Gibraltar? Damiani Raid? Me. I know diamonds, and our bad guy can’t fence those diamonds because stones that size have an ID number laser-inscribed on them.”
The screen zoomed in on a diamond to show this tiny ID number etched into the side, proving her point.
“Like a stolen car. You’ve gotta clean the VIN before you sell ‘em,” Eliot concluded.
 “How do you get that ID off?” I asked.
“With a special laser,” Parker answered, “But only three guys can do it. Antwerp, Dubai, Tel Aviv.”
“And as of right now, Boston. Right?” Nate said, standing in front of us. “Kerrity has to move his diamonds, so we convince him that we’re the only people who can make them clean enough to move.”
“Get them to bring the diamonds to us,” Hardison said.
“And when he shows up, uh…” Nate paused, “Oh, Hardison, can you put the crime scene photos…?”
Hardison took the clicker remote back from Parker and put the photos up. The photo showed our client, Joey, sitting in the armored truck with a paramedic tending to his wounded shoulder. There was a man standing to the side talking to him, a notebook in hand.
“State police guy, Lieutenant Bonanno,” Eliot introduced the man.
“Yeah. So we drop Kerrity on his lap with the stolen diamonds,” Nate explained, “Lieutenant Bonanno drops the hammer. Our guy gets cleared, gets his job back.”
“Pardon me, but I don’t mean to stop the fun train,” Eliot interjected. “We’re out a grifter here.”
“I know who we can call,” Parker volunteered.
“Now, we’re not gonna call Sophie,” Nate disagreed. “No, she has asked for space, and we’re gonna honor that. No. Hardison, Y/n, you are gonna be our grifters.”
Hardison leaned forward with a smile, “I’m listening.”
“What? No.” Eliot shook his head in disbelief.
“Is it too late for me to pretend like I don’t know about,” I waved my hands around the room, “this whole operation?”
“Yes,” Nate answered me and Eliot at the same time, “Parker, you’ll be the roper.”
“What?” She asked puzzledly.
“Cute dress, heels, you’ll be fine.”
“Sure, I’ll be fine,” Parker whispered to herself.
I looked at her and could feel the anxiety rolling off of her. I nudged her shoulder to catch her attention. Once she looked at me, I nodded reassuringly at her, “We’ll be okay, we’ll figure it out. You’re not alone, we’ll help each other.”
She nodded a bit more firmly, but I could tell she was still anxious.
“Eliot, you’ll be the muscle,” Nate continued.
A little while later, I found Parker hiding under the counter, talking to someone on the phone. I stood in the kitchen, quietly listening. It didn’t take long to figure out that she was talking to Sophie as Parker explained the situation to her.
“I will not be fine,” she exclaimed, “I stabbed that guy with a fork!”
Well, I didn’t know that little detail.
“Parker, Parker, relax” Sophie soothed, her voice softly coming through the phone, just loud enough for me to hear. “It’s fine. Listen. Go to Nate’s storage cupboard and you're gonna find a sexy little mini-dress and my emergency Jimmy Choos.”
“Jimmy who? You have a body in Nate’s closet?”
“Shoes, Parker. Didn’t I teach you any...? Alright listen, this is the important bit. Do you still have the Rosalind Diamond you stole in Perth?”
“Yes,” she answered.
I huffed out a breath, I really shouldn’t be surprised.
“Wear it. The diamond will speak for you. You won’t have to say a word,” Sophie said. “This is the key to the grift. You just trust the character. Say nothing. Trust the diamond.”
“I can do that,” Parker relented. “Don’t tell Nate I called.”
“I won’t,” she reassured.
Parker caught my eye as she crawled out from under the counter. I motioned that my lips were sealed which helped her relax a little bit. Now to see if Sophie’s advice proved successful.
Parker was able to keep her cool and lead Kerrity to the back of the bar where Hardison, Eliot, and I were waiting, playing pool.
“No,” Hardison slammed his cue on the table once he saw them turning the corner. “Come here, what have I said? What have I said about new people, huh?”
I raised my eyebrow at Eliot at Hardison’s attitude and accent. He just rolled his eyes in response before he slammed Kerrity into the pool table.
“Hey, it's okay,” Parker said, “This guy works in diamonds. He wants to talk business or something.”
“Alright,” Hardison relented. “Lay the arms down brother. He’s cool.”
Eliot let him up with a shove.
“You’ll have to excuse my bodyguard. He’s touchy. It’s ‘cuz he’s a mute. Alright?”
I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing at Eliot’s pissed off expression.
“Yeah, well, my bodyguards don’t talk much either,” Kerrity responded, as three intimidating looking men entered the area.
“Well, looks like we found our armored car robbers,” Nate said through comms.
I hummed quietly, noting the conclusion.
Some dominance had to be established, some control. Hardison and Eliot saw it too, and after a look was shared, Eliot got one of the so-called ‘bodyguards’ into an arm lock behind his back, using him as a shield when another guard had drawn a gun.
“Going to shoot through your own man?” I asked the one with the gun. He had a look in his eye that said he was seriously considering it.
His eyes flicked to me, a look of recognition noting that I was in play. “To be honest with you, I never liked him,” he said in a noticeable Russian accent.
“Legit,” Hardison said. “Goon squad and all, isn’t it? Stand down.”
There was a tense beat before the Russian lowered his weapon. I stepped around the pool table and placed a hand on Eliot’s shoulder right as he released the man he was holding. My hand slid off as I stepped past him, perching myself on the table, placing myself more front and center.
“Jim Kerrity,” he introduced himself.
“You’re Jim Kerrity? Kerrity Diamonds?” Hardison asked. “Brother, you got it all last week.”
“The heist. Yes, that was me.”
“So, did you use these fellas here, or hire out?” I asked, making a show of examining my nails. I could see out of the corner of my eye that Eliot had closed the gap, ready to step in front of me if necessary.
“We’re in the business, Jimmy boy. I can smell an inside job,” Hardison explained.
“So what do you do in the business, Mr…?”
 “I’m a thief.They call me… The Ice Man,” Hardison said with a smug smile.
I rolled my eyes just as Nate repeated the name questioningly.
“No, Hardison, you have to have a light touch. Undersell,” Nate said.
“What kind of thief calls themselves a thief?” Kerrity asked.
“An arrogant one,” I responded. I offered my hand to Kerrity, which he took just the fingers, and turned it with a slight bow of his head.
“Doesn’t matter, I have the reputation to prove it,” Hardison rebutted, annoyedly. “This is my assistant-”
“Annaka,” I cut in, “and I prefer ‘his more subtle associate.’”
Kerrity smiled, looking me up and down, “I don’t suppose you have a boyfriend, do you?”
Eliot took a half step forward, giving Kerrity the hint to back up. I simply gave him a tight smile, not answering his question. I did dress up a little bit, a blouse and nice pants. I wanted to look nice, but professional. The fact that he still felt the need to comment and shoot his shot made my skin crawl a bit.
“I’m sure you’ve seen my work in Perth. The Polar Star? Nicked it.The Gem of Gibraltar? Nicked it,” Hardison bragged, which pulled the attention back to himself.
I looked to Parker who started to pace behind him as he continued to use her thefts for his reputation.
“Then I shouldn’t be seen talking to you,” Kerrity concluded.
“Right, right, right. Cause two criminals can’t talk business while shootin’ pool. Bitch of it is nickin’ ‘em’s butter…” Hardison trailed off.
“Moving them is the issue,” I finished, “I’m sure you know something about that.”
“Yes, especially with those inscribed ID numbers,” Kerrity agreed.
“There are ways around that,” I commented.
“I got this laser, see,” Hardison continued, “Only one in the country, mind you. This thing, I had to bring over piece by soddin’ piece from Turkmenistan. It can scrub and ID clean off any diamond. Re-virginized.”
“And what kind of fee do you charge for such a service?” Kerrity asked.
“Thirty percent,” Hardison answered.
“Five percent.”
“Thirty percent,” Hardison reiterated.
“No way in hell.”
“That’s the discounted rate, brother. Cause anything lower than that is an insulted rate, cause it's an insult to me, savvy?”
I jumped in to even out the tension, “You said it yourself, Kerrity, it’s a very specialized service. If you can somehow transport your diamonds elsewhere, get someone else to do it, be our guest.” I slid off the pool table and returned to my spot on the end, grabbing my pool cue, “I will say, good luck executing that, let alone getting a better rate.” I began to rechalk my cue, not trusting myself to take a shot just yet.
“You, uh, you ring me when you wisen up, hear?” Hardison said, writing his phone number on a napkin.
Kerrity looked at the napkin for a moment before throwing it on the table, “Thanks, but no thanks, brother.” He swiftly walked away.
The Russian walked up and grabbed the napkin carefully before walking away, following Kerrity.
I let out a sigh in relief once they were gone. I finally leaned down and took a shot, hissing when the ball glanced off a corner, just out of the pocket.
“Close,” Eliot commented before taking his own shot, sinking it easily, and moving on to the next one.
“Why do I even bother?” I asked myself.
Eliot stepped up next to me, “You’ve gotta start somewhere, we’ll just have to practice more in the pub.”
“Hey,” Hardison cut in, “You can’t talk, remember?”
“Dammit, Hardison!” Eliot exclaimed, continuing to shoot pool, finishing the game quickly. He continued to berate him saying that it was stupid.
As he shot each ball in, one after the other, I couldn’t help but focus on how he’d said that we should practice. The fact he wanted to do it together warmed my heart a little bit. As I started to imagine it, I couldn’t stop the image of Eliot looking at Mikel from the last job popping into my head. The image of Eliot’s blush when Mikel brought out handcuffs flashed before I fought it down. It shouldn’t have bothered me, it was none of my business. We were coworkers, friends at best. Still, I could enjoy the feelings he gave me and the moments we had together.
Once Eliot sunk his last shot, he left the bar. I helped clean up before the rest of us followed him.’
“Ice Man?” Eliot asked Hardison once we got back to Nate’s apartment.
“Hey, I put a lot of work into that character,” Hardison defended. “No, no, no, I bought new clothes, ugly as hell, too.”
“You got that right,” I whispered to Parker and she smiled at me.
“This always happens when you go on the grift, Hardison,” Eliot said, “you go way too big.”
“You have to have some subtlety,” I commented.
“Yeah, Sophie told me to say as little as possible,” Parker explained, “let the character do the work.”
“When did, uh, Sophie say that?” Nate asked, walking down the stairs into the common area of the apartment.
“A long time ago,” Parker said quickly, “maybe last Christmas. I don’t even think it was Sophie.”
Nate wasn’t quite convinced, but moved on anyway, straightening his tie, “I’m gonna go put more pressure on Kerrity. I want you guys to be on the clear-out. Ice Man, play it cool. That’s just an awful, awful name.”
“Genius,” Hardison tried to correct in his character’s accent.
“See?” Eliot said. “When you get in too deep on this, I ain’t bailin’ your ass out.”
“I don’t need you to bail me out. I’m the Ice Man.”
“Not. Gonna. Help.” Eliot emphasized again.
I laughed at their expressions, clearly annoyed at each other. “Well, what’s done is done. Let’s just hope we can still pull this off. Even with Hardison’s accent,” I continued to laugh at myself as I retreated to my apartment.
It didn’t take long after Nate put some pressure on Kerrity as an insurance guy that Kerrity called Hardison to set up a meeting to see the laser at work. Parker, Eliot, and I drove to the lab where we were going to ‘borrow’ a laser.
Once we pulled up, Eliot was on the phone with someone, but Parker and I could only hear his side of the conversation: “I know. He’s driving me crazy. How, huh? I’m back up, they can’t rely on me. Alright, alright. Hey… thanks. Don’t tell Nate I called.”
“Who was that?” Parker asked.
Eliot hesitated, “Cable company.”
Parker and I shared a look before I handed her the duffle bag from Eliot’s truck bed and sent them into the lab. Parker and Eliot went in and cleared out the lab with a chemical exposure evacuation, leaving it empty for our purposes. They set up a camera so Nate could see what was going on, and got ready for Kerrity’s arrival.
I stayed in the parking lot waiting for Kerrity to pull in. I timed my approach into the building to run into him and walk him into the lab.
“Mr. Kerrity, so glad you could make it,” I said, meeting him just before the door.
He opened the door for me, “Pleasure is mine, Ms. Annaka.”
I led him and the Russian he brought with him through the hallways to the lab where Parker and Eliot were waiting.
“Where is Mr. Ice?” Kerrity asked once we stepped inside.
“He’s late,” Parker responded, “He’s always late.”
There was a roar of an engine outside. We all glanced out and watched as Hardison pulled up in a red Ferrari.
“Hmm. Subtle,” Kerrity commented.
“While he walks in,” I said, “May I see the stone?”
Kerrity presented the diamond, “Two carats. Very few flaws, my salesman said.”
I pulled out a jewelry loupe, a type of mini magnifying glass, that I picked up somewhere and examined the stone. I found the ID number, though it was still too small to quite read it. I commented that I found it and examined the body of the stone. I had little to no idea what I was looking for, but I figured he didn’t either.
I finally looked up at him, “It’s a good stone, Mr. Kerrity. It should do nicely.”
Just as I had said so, Hardison walked into the lab with smug grandeur, “The Ice Man cometh.” He gestured to the machine on the table, “Let me introduce you to my laser, Glinda. You see, I found that laser fluences below the diamond graphitization threshold are most effective. Wouldn’t you say?”
Eliot and I made eye contact and shook our heads when Kerrity and the Russian weren’t looking. He was doing too much.
“Yeah,” Kerrity hesitantly agreed. Clearly not knowing what the heck he said, like the rest of us.
“The diamond?” Hardison asked.
Kerrity gestured to me as I handed the stone over to Hardison. I was tempted to make an ‘oops, I lost it’ joke, but knew that wasn’t wise, for both the tension and the character.
Hardison examined it, “She’s a beaut. Sheila, get me a pop.” He didn’t even look at Parker when he asked which I could tell she didn’t appreciate, even through her hard neutral expression.
“Because this will be classified IF, an internally flawless two-carat round cut diamond, it should be easy to oblate,” Hardison continued, placing the diamond in place for the laser.
Parker was out grabbing a cubic zirconia from a neighboring lab to replace the diamond while grabbing that pop.
“How is this gonna fool him?” She asked Nate.
“He’s not looking at the diamond, he’s looking at the ID number,” he responded.
“ID numbers are etched at a depth between five and seven microns,” Hardison explained while the laser ran around the diamond. “Using nanoblation, the UV laser pulses irradiate the etching.”
Parker walked in then with an open can of pop and handed it to Hardison.
“Thank you, sweets.”
Kerrity turned to me, “I haven’t seen you contribute much to this partnership.”
I smiled softly, nodding towards Hardison, “He likes to show off in front of new clients, I don’t mind being more behind the scenes.”
He hummed curiously before turning back to Hardison who was taking the diamond out of the machine. I saw Hardison’s switch of the diamond for the cubic zirconia, only because I was looking for it. He handed the fake stone over to Kerrity to examine. Kerrity took it and looked it over with his own loupe.
There was a tense moment when Kerrity looked at Hardison before he said, “It’s like it was never there.”
“I could do the rest in a day, but I’m only here for another week. I’ve got a thing in Antwerp.”
“Alright,” Kerrity said, “let’s, uh, let’s do it tomorrow?”
“Done.”
“Excellent. Mr. Ice, Ms. Annaka.” Kerrity then left the lab with his Russian companion close behind.
“Alright, nice work guys,” Nate said through comms. “Tomorrow, when he shows up with the diamonds, the state police will be there.”
“Why, so they can arrest Hardison’s ego?” Eliot asked as we exited the building.
“They better bring some extra large handcuffs,” I laughed.
“Be cool, baby. Ice cool,” Hardison replied. “Hey, who wants to go for a spin?”
“Can’t believe you rented a Ferrari,” Eliot said.
“Rented?”
“I’ll get a ride home with Eliot,” Parker said.
“Maybe some other time, Hardison,” I responded, “I’m kinda tired, gonna lay down in Eliot’s back seat.”
Hardison scoffed, “Y’all are just jealous,” but we were already crossing the parking lot.
I did just what I said I was going to when I crawled in the back seat, leaving Parker and Eliot up front. I had to curl up a bit, but it was decently comfortable on the worn seat, making it soft.
“Hey, you alright?” Eliot asked once he pulled out of the parking lot.
“Yeah, I think I was just stressed, and now that this is almost over-” I yawned, “I’m just a bit tired is all.”
Eliot adjusted his rear view mirror a touch so he could make eye contact with me through it, “Well, ya did good. You deserve some rest.” I could feel the sincerity, even through the mirror and sunglasses he was wearing. I smiled and nodded at him, silently thanking him.
Parker then turned and reached a hand towards me which I took with a squeeze, “Yeah, look at us, being grifters. I didn’t even stab anyone!”
“I’m proud of us, Parker,” I said, squeezing her hand one more time before taking my hand back and curling it next to me. My eyes then closed of their own accord, the steady hum of the engine lulling me, if not asleep, away from active wakefulness.
Eventually we got back to the pub and Nate and I’s apartments. I slightly stirred when Eliot turned his truck off, but I couldn’t quite wake myself up until he placed a hand on my shoulder, calling my name. His hand was warm, the gentle movement slowly pulled me out of the slumber I had slipped into. I admit I was slow to move, but Eliot and Parker were patient with me until I got to my door. I trudged through my entry way to my couch, my limbs were heavy, as if I had been physically working all day for the past week. I must have been tense, holding all the stress in my body, for the past two days, trying to be natural and convince Kerrity of our legitimateness.
Oh the irony.
I collapsed on the cushions, letting out a sigh in relief. If all went to plan, tomorrow I wouldn’t even have to play a character. It would all be in the police’s hands then.
It didn’t seem like I was out for very long when Parker was standing above me, practically dragging me off my couch.
“Did I forget to lock my door?” I asked, still waking up.
“No,” she responded simply.
“What’s going on?”
“Hardison got kidnapped by the Russians.”
“Oh.”
We walked through the door to find Eliot angrily shoving an earbud in place, “Tell Hardison if he makes it out alive, I’m gonna snap him in half.”
“Uh, Eliot says hi,” Nate said, apparently into the comms to Hardison. “So what’s the plan there, Ice Man?”
I pulled my own earbud from my pocket and put it in, just in time to hear Hardison explain it, somewhat tactfully in the midst of… company.
“Just so I’m clear, you want me to help break into Kerrity’s vault and steal his diamonds?”
“Oh, beautiful,” Nate commented.
“So, what you’re sayin’ is we’re gonna explode through the ceiling of a tunnel, use a det cord and climb into the vault through the floor?”
“Det cord,” Eliot honed in. “That’s how they blew the armored truck.”
“Exploding through the floor will set the sensor off,” Parker said. “Tunnel’s a terrible way in.”
“Hardison, you’re gonna tell ‘em their plan won’t work,” Nate said.
“Tunnel is a horrible way in,” Parker reemphasized.
“I heard you Parker.”
We listened as Hardison relayed the news, which didn’t seem to go over well with the Russians to the point where Hardison had to commit to getting them in the vault.
“Oh, yes. Of course you will,” Nate said, “Now listen. Hardison, you’re gonna have to figure out a way to buy some time so we can get you outta this. Yeah, get busy.” Nate then took his earpiece out with frustration.
Nate was typing on Hardison’s computer for a little bit before he eventually said, “Guys, guys, I can’t make any sense of Hardison’s files.”
I gestured to it, pulling the computer a bit closer to me, sorting through files to see if there was anything I recognized.
“Do you think you can…?” Nate asked me.
I shook my head, “No idea, probably not.” I had helped Hardison out with some of his technical stuff a time or two, but he did most of the heavy lifting.
“You can’t track him,” Eliot pointed out, “he’s the one that does the tracking.”
“Well maybe he left it on,” Nate hoped.
“Unlikely,” I said, sorting through more files, all of them encrypted.
“What if we tell him to make a run for it?” Parker suggested.
“They’ll kill him,” Eliot answered.
“Well, if he goes along with their plan, they’ll get arrested,” Parker pointed out.
“We gotta find another way for Hardison to break in,” Nate concluded.
“We need a closer look at the vault,” Parker said.
“I’m working on it,” Nate said.
Parker held a small can to us, “Hairspray, you’ll need this.”
“Let me ask you a question, man,” Eliot said. “If Hardison helps these Russians steal the evidence, how are we gonna prove Kerrity set up the robbery?”
“I’m working on it,” Nate stuttered. He gathered his clipboard and papers needed for his insurance agent persona. Parker handed him the can of hairspray; Nate took it and waved at us, “Do not call Sophie.” Nate then dashed out of the apartment, supposedly to Kerrity’s shop.
I worked for a little bit longer on Hardison’s laptop, trying to find anything that could help, but  every time I thought I was close to cracking into something useful, I hit a dead end. I sighed, I would have to have Hardison teach me some of this stuff with his systems in case something like this happened again. When I was just about to give up, Nate got to Kerrity’s shop, and a notification popped up that a connected camera was in use. I cast the video onto the large screen in the living room so we could see what he was doing.
Nate had a camera pen directed at Kerrity’s vault to gain more information, mostly for Parker, and for Hardison to relay to the Russians to pretend he knew what he was doing.
“RGB keypad, let me see,” Parker said, “Move the camera to the left… No, vault left. Alright, then you have to do this my way. Remove the sensor while keeping the magnetic field intact. You are going to need a four inch by four inch aluminum plate, double sided tape, and a phillips head screwdriver.”
I slumped into the couch, watching Parker analyze the vault and listening to Hardison relay the information to the Russians. Eliot stood next to Parker, his focus as sharp as ever. The truth of the matter was, everyone here knew at least something that might help Hardison, but I was still stuck dead in the water. I watched, trying to learn.
Kerrity kept listing more safety features inside the vault: pressure sensitive tiles, two cameras monitored by a twenty four hour guard and Kerrity himself, seismic sensor, heat sensors, and motion sensors. This was becoming more and more difficult by the minute.
“Hardison’s not gonna be able to do anything if the heat sensors are on,” Eliot said.
“Nate, use the hairspray,” Parker instructed. “It creates a film that blocks the heat.”
Nate distracted Kerrity long enough to follow through. Then Kerrity told Nate about the security fog that fills the room after the alarm goes off; this fog makes visibility zero. To make matters worse, it would be triggered by any one of the other sensors.
“How bad is it?” Nate asked quietly once Kerrity was out of earshot.
“There’s no way Hardison’s gonna be able to break into that vault,” Parker said matter-of-factly.
“What is Hardison going to do?” Hardison asked, without the accent, so he must be away from the Russians.
“Hardison is going to pretend to break into the vault,” Nate said.
“Well, hopefully the Russians will only pretend to kill him,” Eliot replied.
“No one’s getting killed,” Nate assured. “We’re gonna break in for him.”
The three of us just sat staring at each other, lost in our own thoughts, waiting for Nate to get back to explain what he was thinking. I could see the wheels turning in Parker’s head, going through all the steps to break into the vault. Eliot had a tenseness about him, whether that be anger or concern, I couldn’t tell.
“We’re gonna do this quick and dirty,” Nate said once he got back. “You guys break into the vault before Hardison does, so the Russians think that he’s doing it.”
“Why not?” Parker said. “He’s been taking credit for my work all day anyway.”
“Then Hardison will lead the Russians into the vault a few paces behind him,” Nate concluded.
“Hey, I got something,” Parker said after messing with Hardison’s clicker. The screen showed the security camera feed to the front of Kerrity’s store. Kerrity was showing a fancily dressed woman around his store along with all of the jewelry in the cases.
“Hardison must have hacked into the security feed before he left,” Eliot said.
“Well, well. I’m just gonna have to keep Kerrity out of his own vault,” Nate said, staring at the screen.
We all then loaded up to go save Hardison.
Once we arrived, Nate knocked on the door of the shop first. Kerrity quickly dismissed the woman with him, saying that he would meet up with her later, and let Nate in.
“This had better be important,” Kerrity said when he opened the door.
“Yeah. Can we talk somewhere private?” Nate asked, stepping into the shop.
I then walked in, just catching the door before they went to his back office.
Kerrity was surprised to see me, “Annaka?”
I smiled, obviously flicking my eyes between him and Nate. “Hello, Mr. Kerrity,” I said cautiously.
He caught the hint, “This is Mr. Sterling with the insurance company, he came to discuss something with me.”
“I hope I’m not hindering something here,” Nate said as he shook my hand with a sickly sweet salesman voice that he’s been using.
I shook my head, “Not at all.” I looked to Kerrity, “I don’t mind waiting, finish your business with Mr. Sterling.”
He nodded and brought Nate into his office.
Eliot was at the door just as they turned the corner in an armored truck company uniform with a cart. The guard buzzed him in just as I got to the door to open it for him. The guard came down with some paperwork for Eliot, assuming he was there for delivery.
“Thanks, sweetheart,” he whispered to me as I held the door open for him to walk through more easily. He then turned to the guard, “Yo, yo. Late night man. Is there a register I’m supposed to look at?” Eliot was there at the dest with the guard by then and quickly knocked him out. “Sorry, buddy,” he said as he walked by.
I walked to Eliot and the guard, helping tuck him out of sight and out of the way for the rest of the night.
“Okay Parker, you’re clear,” Eliot told her through comms, “come on down.”
She had perched herself on a ledge next to the security camera facing the street, holding a photo of an armored truck on the street for the guard’s benefit. I could almost feel her joy as she came down with her rig. I quickly let her in so she could get to the vault. I then stationed myself in the security room watching the cameras. I was out of sight and out of the way for the essential gears of the operation, but still in the shop if I needed to lend a hand somewhere, namely keeping Kerrity busy.
Nate was talking to Kerrity about his insurance policy and discrepancies that may deny his claim, trying to keep him occupied for as long as he could. So far, he was successful. Hopefully he could keep it up.
Meanwhile, Parker was working on the vault, getting it cracked and ready for Hardison.
“This will hold them together,” she said softly as she placed the aluminum plates on the vault.
“Electric’s faster,” Eliot said as he handed her a screwdriver.
“Vibrations will set off the seismic sensor,” she replied simply.
Eliot shook his head and returned to the front of the store.
Parker continued to work on the vault with quick efficiency. It was interesting to watch through the camera as there was no hesitation in any of her movements.
It didn’t take as long as I had hoped for movement on the outside camera to catch my attention. A big black van pulled up in front with Hardison and the Russians hopping out of it.
“Here they come,” I said.
Hardison reiterated it with his own quiet announcement, “Eliot, approaching the building. Approaching the building.” He then switched to his accent for the Russians, “Wait here, right? Gotta handle the initial break-in myself. Too many cooks and all.”
Eliot buzzed Hardison in when he banged on the door. They then proceeded to act out Hardison beating up Eliot. I winced, but was impressed at how realistic it looked when Eliot threw himself to the ground. Hardison continued to ‘punch’ Eliot for an extended amount of time while the two argued.
“Next time,” Eliot said, “I’m playing the thief!”
“I’d like to hear you do an accent,” Hardison said.
“I’d like to hear you do an accent,” Eliot replied.
“I went to Second City in Chicago.”
“You find time between that and karate at the Y?”
“You know what? Just shut up. Shut up.”
“Shut up,  guys,” Parker said calmly, trying to concentrate on the vault.
She was able to get in when Hardison and Eliot finished their act, Eliot acting unconscious and Hardison letting in the Russians. Nate continued to distract Kerrity, shifting to his second point, the bribe. So far, so good.
Eliot joined me in the security room and watched as Parker hung on the inside of the door and leapt to a bar or pipe on the ceiling, preventing her from touching the floor and triggering the pressure tiles.
“Stuck it,” Eliot commented in praise.
“Indeed,” I agreed, impressed.
Hardison made his way to the vault, making a bit of a show of taking steps to crack the vault. He put a stethoscope to the vault door to ‘pick’ the vault combo.
“Parker wrote the combination in invisible ink on the door next to you,” Eliot told Hardison. “She’s in there, but she hasn’t deactivated the floor yet.”
“So take your time on the tumblers. Take it slow,” I said.
He was able to delay a bit by talking to the Russians. “Sorry?” He asked when the leader spoke up.
“I said you’re really everything you claimed,” the Russian repeated.
Hardison shrugged, “If I’m lyin’, I’m dyin’.”
“Yes, you are. Yes, you are,” the Russian laughed. “I’m sorry, just a saying. English, very tricky.”
Hardison went back to the tumblers.
“Hardison, slow down. You’re breezing through that combo, like, way too fast,” Eliot said. “Parker, what’s your ETA?”
“Not ready yet. Floor is still hot,” she replied.
Eliot and I shared a concerned look.
“Nate, our timing’s not gonna work out,” Eliot said.
Nate, of course, couldn’t answer as he was still keeping Kerrity busy. That was quickly reaching its end though as Kerrity wasn’t taking the bribing narrative that Nate was selling.
“Parker, get a move on. Nate and Hardison are way ahead of you,” Eliot said.
“The floor is clear.”
“Nate, Parker is still in the vault.”
The Russians were pressing Hardison to get in the vault, and he wasn’t doing a very good job of stalling.
“I need sixty seconds,” Parker said.
“Well, can you turn invisible in sixty seconds? Cause they’re bustin’ in there,” Eliot replied.
“I’m gonna go slow Hardison down, buy her some time,” I said, walking out of the security room.
“Y/n-” Eliot tried to say, but I was already gone.
I walked the hallway towards the vault until the Russians and Hardison came into view. Hardison was just about to open the door when I called, “Ice!”
The four of them turned to me, the Russians clearly not happy. I suddenly took a hard swallow, I might not have thought this through.
“Annaka? What are you doin’ here?” Hardison asked, looking a bit relieved at the distraction.
“You think I wouldn’t find you? We had a plan when it came to situations such as these, you are undermining your reputation from a business perspective! Who is going to work with us now if you just keep stealing their stuff?” I said it all quickly and with exasperation. I could hear my own nervousness, and I hoped that the distance I kept between myself and the Russians wasn’t too suspicious.
“I’m sorry, hun,” Hardison said, “But this was an offer I couldn’t refuse, I’m afraid.”
“Yes,” the Russian said, “Now if you’ll excuse us, we have a job to do.”
They turned back towards the door and away from me.
“Parker?” I whispered, not sure how else to hold them.
“I’m clear,” she said.
“Fine!” I said to the men in front of me, ready to make my leave, “But I want nothing to do with it!” I then turned on my heel and left the room, hearing the vault open behind me.
I heard Hardison say, “Don’t worry ‘bout her. She won’t do nothin’. Let’s get this done.”
I went back to the security room where Eliot was watching the security feeds tensely. “How’s it going?” I asked once I stood next to him.
“Fine, thanks to you,” he said, “But that was reckless. Those Russians could have done somethin’ to you, could have killed you.”
I let out a shaky breath, “Yeah, I realized that once I got there.”
Our work here was done, so Eliot and I made our way out of the shop into the tunnel below for the final escape.
“Guys, uh, Kerrity is on his way down there,” Nate said when he wasn’t able to hold him in his office any longer.
Hardison was able to distract the Russians with Kerrity’s arrival long enough for Hardison to slip into Parker’s hiding spot, one of the large lock boxes. Parker blew a hole in the floor, dropping the two of them into the tunnel below where Eliot and I were waiting. This, coincidentally, also set off the seismic sensor and the security system. Who knew?
“Det cord,” Eliot explained simply to Hardison as we helped them up from the floor.
We then made our way out of the tunnel to fresh air and freedom. Nate was waiting for us at the end of it.
“Thought we couldn’t use this tunnel,” Hardison said once we were out.
“Tunnel’s a horrible way in,” Nate replied, “but it’s a great way out.”
Once we were back, we reviewed what happened through the video feed Hardison had hacked. Hardison left the lock box with the diamonds tactfully open for when the police came to respond to the tripped alarm. This helped Lieutenant Bonanno find them; and with Kerrity reporting that his loose diamonds were stolen, this might as well have been an open and shut case. The matching ID numbers would just be the nails in the coffin.
We were able to clear our client’s name and score him some cash from the swiped diamond we got after lasering off the ID number. As usual, this called for a celebration in the pub while Nate shared the good news with the client.
Parker, Eliot, Hardison, and I all sat at the corner of the bar, it becoming a usual spot. Hardison turned back to the bar laughing after seeing the happy look on our client’s face.
“What are you smilin’ at?” Eliot asked. “You still screwed it up.”
“I’m smiling cause you said if I got in trouble, you wouldn’t help me,” he responded.
“Parker made me,” Eliot excused.
“No, I didn’t,” she denied.
“Come on, man. Let’s hug it out,” Hardison said.
“I’m not hugging it out, Ice Man.”
“Just hug it… Just a little man love.”
“I’m not hugging it out with you.”
They went back and forth before Hardison forced himself onto Eliot in one of the most awkward hugs I’ve ever seen. Parker looked almost just as uncomfortable, but I just chuckled at them.
Eliot eventually freed himself from Hardison’s grasp and stepped away from the bar. He stepped over to where I sat and said to me, “I promised you some pool practice, do you wanna go?”
I nodded, smiling at Parker and Hardison before turning fully to Eliot, “Yeah, let’s go.” I slid off the stool, standing next to him for a moment.
He placed a hand on my shoulder and steered me towards the pool table at the back of the pub. His hand sent warmth through me, even as he was still grumbling about Hardison under his breath. I came to the conclusion that no matter how he looks at other women, Mikel, or anything else that may come up, I can still enjoy these moments with him. The moments where he’s comforting, protective, and now, when he just wants a bit of escape, and he could find that in me and playing pool, no matter my skill level.
It might mean a little to him, these little moments, but they meant something to me, and that is all that really mattered.
OK, if you don’t mind being detailed here —- could you please share with the class Re: the following —- how exactly do you go about telling you partner what you want/expect/what kind of treatment you want? Like, you’ve mentioned princess treatment/spoiled GF treatment and I found a lot of what you shared is in line w it what I would want. I’ve just never bothered with guys because I find them annoying… but now I’m curious.
So, let’s say beginning stages with Ted or with someone completely new = what do you usually say/how do you say it? Also,
What are your needs and wants?
Again, I’ve never really explored this because I typically just did for myself but now… if a good dude decided to be giving? Maybe…
I feel like if I have to ask, we already aren’t going to work. Being a gentleman should be a base thing he does because he is a good man.
Do I expect new men I meet to just bow down and hand me their wallet? No.
But I do expect gentlemen behavior and respect.
Is he asking for a date or to just chill?
Does he actually plan a date or make you put in the work?
Opening doors, is a minimum.
With gator it was a process because I wasn’t use to it. He put me on game and then Donald came in and finished.
So when I meet TG, Ted, and 6’7, ect I knew what I expected.
Once we exchanged numbers there is no talking stage for me. Either we going on a date or you are blocked. Extended talking stages are killing the dating game. That is what dates are for, to get to know each other.
I give them two weeks, give or take circumstances. If I’m busy I won’t hold them to that two weeks. But I let them know they are on borrowed time.
Something like, “I really enjoyed texting/calling you, can’t wait to get to know you better in person.” Aka plan a date.
I’m not bougie, I don’t care where the first date is. I know some women frown on coffee dates, or going to chain restaurants. I don’t care. I just wanna see you putting the effort in.
People don’t know what you don’t tell them. I tell everyone how much I love flowers. Now I get them weekly.
As far as being a spoiled gf, idk how to explain this other than if he really like you, he gone do it. And everyone definition of spoiled is different.
I’ve always let it be known that my time is valuable and I won’t allow anyone around me who won’t treat me at the level I treat me or better.
Why do I need a man around if he going to treat me worst or drag me down, and the he expects pussy???
I see it all the time with white women, when their man really loves them, biggest simp in the world.
My needs: I need it all lol. I want all your love, all your attention, all your time, I literally want you to be crazy about me.
My wants: gifts, flowers, money, good dick.
My niggas ain’t millions or billionaires, so I don’t expect a new gwagon with a fully funded trip to Dubai. But yes pay my rent so you know I’m carefree and have a comfortable place to lay at. Yes make sure my car is running well so you know I’m traveling safely.
That isn’t rich nigga shit, that’s just a man who really like you shit. Blue collar men make decent money but most aren’t rich, but they wouldn’t let the women they love be stranded on the side of the road.
Once you find a man that really likes you, he will go the extra mile to ensure you are happy.
Tumblr media
You looked at him from the mirror and smiled, you wished you were getting married to him instead. How happy this time would feel if he was your future husband? He would keep you so pampered, not with things but with love and that's what you needed.
After the dress fitting when you two got in the car, you noticed that he seemed distracted.
"Something wrong?" You asked him as you placed your chin on his shoulder and made him look at you.
"No darling" he kissed your lips softly. He didn't want to worry you or hurt you again.
"Truth? No lies?" You tilted your head so he smiled. Adorable
"No lies, just seeing you in your wedding dress brought back some memories"
You wrapped your arms around his shoulder and pressed a kiss on his cheek. His ex wife, he used to be married. He used to be a husband once.
"Your ex wife?" He nodded so you tightened your grip around him
"What happened to her? You don't have to share if you don't want to, I just need you to know that I'm here if you want me to listen" his eyes teared up as you said that so he pulled you in for a hug. He wanted to share, he wanted to tell you about his past, bare himself open so there won't be any secrets between you two.
"I was her bodyguard too" he told you and it made you jealous in a very odd way, it wasn't that uncommon for bodyguards to fall in love with their personal clients, same goes for the clients. Your own mother did. You did.
"Sameera was the daughter of the leader of a major political party in Cairo, used to be involved in shady business previously so he had several enemies, I was hired to guard her after an attack, at first I didn't care about her more than I should but she seemed soo–" he looked at you and his eyes were teary again,
"Sad?" You asked him and he chuckled.
"I mean yeah that too but she looked so ..lost, she had been everywhere but never on her own, she craved freedom and autonomy which she knew she'd never get as long as she was there, then her father arranged her marriage with a wealthy Sheik from Dubai and she didn't want that, I caught her trying to harm herself one night"
You linked your fingers with his as he continued speaking, her story sounded hell lot similar to yours until now, and you didn't know how you felt about that.
"I took care of her after that, our bond grew, she kissed me one night and we immediately had sex. When she cried in my arms that night I just felt as if something was snapped inside me. I wanted to free her, take her away, give her a better life. She begged me to elope her and I just knew that was the right thing to do..so I risked my life and took her away. We got married instantly, I kept her hidden because of the few connections I had made in Cairo during my time there. But her father's men got to us finally" your eyes teared up as you noticed the saddened look on his face, his pain hurt you too and that's when you knew that you'd never want to hurt him on purpose.
"Did he kill her?" You asked him and he chuckled as he wiped his tears,
"Noo his men beat me to death while she stood there and watched, afraid to stand up to her father and speak against him" your eyes widened in shock, you weren't expecting that at all.
"Ohhh loki" you got onto his lap and wrapped your arms around him tightly as you peppered kisses on his neck. You just wanted him to stop hurting but you knew how excruciatingly painful memories could get sometimes.
"Worst part is her father actually did care for her, and he would have listened to her. She just had to try but those six months she spent with me on the run exhausted her I guess, the love that she thought she felt for me wasn't love, just infatuation. When she realized that life without extravagant things and money won't be as easy as her old life used to be, she fell out of that infatuation she had for me too. I just wasn't worth the trouble anymore, my love wasn't enough, she didn't pick me"
You cupped his cheeks and looked at him, you have never seen him so vulnerable, you didn't even know he was hiding so much of hurt and betrayal in there, you kissed him softly so he closed his eyes. He was scared this would end the same way and he didn't think he'd be able to survive another heartbreak.
"Is that why you were afraid? You think I'd do the same thing, that if we get caught I won't choose you?" He nodded as you said that, as much as it bothered you that he thought that way, his fear wasn't baseless.
"Life out there won't be like this darling. Private cars, bodyguards, shopping trips everyday, having an assistant who just brings your drink. I have never seen her do anything else" he chuckled and that made you chuckle too
"Honestly Loki I don't know how life is out there because I have never lived it, but the world out there have you right? Then how could it be any bad? Why wouldn't I choose the world that has my loki in it?" He pressed his lips on yours as you said that. He was scared of taking you away from here only for you to turn your back on him when you'll realize that he won't be able to give you all the money your father or Steve can give you.
"They have hurt me loki, they'll keep hurting me, they will never change and what will I do with all these luxuries they throw in my face when the man i'm getting married to hates me, when my own father despises me. I'd rather stay with the man who is holding me in his arms and looking at me as if I'm worth risking it all for. I'd never pick them over you" he nodded as you finished your word.
He was overwhelmed, he never had any conversation like this with Sameera, maybe he shouldn't have kept his heart on his sleeves, she ruined his ability to trust, she made him afraid and anxious. She made him not be able to trust you fully, he truly wished he wasn't like this with you, he wanted to be as carefree as he was with her but maybe time would heal those wounds. You needed him, you needed his love and support, so he knew he would have to keep his fears aside. He had to be strong for you, you are his baby.
"I'm so sorry baby and thank you, I didn't want to make you feel as if you'd do the same thing" you shook your head as he apologized.
"You didn't I promise, I don't want this relationship to be one sided, I might not know how to do basic chores and stuff but I feel everything, I have feelings and most of them are for you" you smiled and that made him smile too. He had to protect you from these monsters or he'd never be able to sleep again.
"You are perfect darling and I don't want you to change, I'll take care of you yeah? I promise I'll take care of you with my every breath"
You didn't have anything to say to him so you grabbed the back of his neck and kissed him passionately. You loosened his tie and unbuttoned the top button just so you could suck a mark on him. He was yours, you wanted to leave a print on him. Your hips moved slightly on his crotch so he grabbed them and stopped your movement.
"Ohh baby we are reaching the mansion..get back to your seat please" he commanded you but then he didn't want to sound too strict so he added the please. Luckily he didn't have to say it again, you pecked him on the cheek and fixed yourself up.
Rocky sent Steve to Japan again and you couldn't have been happier. Everytime he left the city or even better the country you wished for him to fall off a cliff or something, you had no empathy left for that man.
However you still had some left for you father, he was never present in your life, as a kid you only had your mom around you, he was always on a trip and away for business purposes. But he started taking interest in your life as soon as puberty hit you, he needed someone he could use to endorse the products targeted for women and who better than his own daughter?
You didn't make it easy for him though, your mom fed you well and it showed on you, that's when your life changed for the worse. But at the end he was still your own father and a part of you cared about him.
As you reached your room, you opened the closet and took out an envelope, your eyes teared up, it did everytime you looked at it or held it. Your mom's handwriting was scribbled on it "My sweetest buttercup, remember that I will always love you and even though I don't deserve it, I hope you'll forgive me someday" you pressed the envelope on your chest as the tears slipped down your eyes. It was still sealed, never opened. For some reason you could never build up enough courage to open it, it was the last thing your mom left for you, her last gift to you, you always feared that you'd lose her completely once you open the envelope and read her last words to you.
You placed it inside the locker safely, your closet was ransacked every few weeks because your dad didn't trust you to not hurt yourself like her. But the locker was yours and nobody was allowed to touch it.
As you laid down in the bed after showering, you thought about Loki and his ex wife, how could she leave him to die like that? Men like him are rare and Loki was one of his kind. So special, and you'd never hurt him like that. You'd never pick your awful family over him.
He went out with Suzzanah so you took out your phone, pulled your nighty down to make your cleavage more noticeable, he loved pulling your straps down so you did it on one side but kept the other one at its place, you messed up your hair, just trying to look effortlessly sexy and clicked a selfie. Then you sent it to him, you didn't want to distract him at work but you were missing him terribly. He didn't take too long to respond either,
Tumblr media
You smiled as you reread the conversation, after lunch you didn't even remember when you fell asleep. You woke up to him kissing your neck softly
"Sorry, I just got here I promise, I was about to wake you up I swear" he whispered in your ear so you chuckled. You didn't care, you trusted him.
"You look adorable when you are asleep" you wrapped your arm around his neck and tucked a strand of hair behind his ear, he was freshly showered and in a white t-shirt with black trousers.
"Did they leave?" You asked him and he nodded.
"They took Erik but don't worry he can take care of himself"
"I don't doubt that" you giggled as he kissed you. He expected to find you like this in bed. He couldn't stop thinking about you in here after that picture you sent.
"I have something for you sweet girl"
"Mmmhmm?"" You both mumbled between the kiss and he asked you to search his pocket.
He moaned as you allowed your hand to wander on purpose.
You took a wrapper out and it was a piece of chocolate
"You're spoiling me" you giggled as you unwrapped it.
"You deserve nothing less" he laughed as he took the chocolate from you.
"Now tell me did you eat lunch?"
"Yes daddy" you whispered in his ears and he kissed on your neck
"Mmhmm had a good portion right?"
"I did I promise"
He smiled as you answered him hurriedly
"Such a good girl, open your mouth" he pressed the chocolate over your lips so you took a bite, it had a creamy filling inside and it tasted so good. Your mother always used to feed you dark chocolate every night, it was good for health she said, but your dad always insulted you whenever he caught you eating one
"That's so good" he fed you another bite and watched you relish in the sweet taste. God he truly loved feeding you.
"I'm gonna feed you dinner tonight you'd want that?"
"Do you even have to ask?" You kissed him and your legs wrapped around his waist, you could feel it, his cock pressing against your core and you lost your mind as he rolled his hips into you.
"Fuckkk dadddy" you moaned in his ears and he had to step away because he didn't think he'd be able to control himself, you drove him insane with lust and desire, he desperately wanted to fuck you but he had to fulfill his promise.
"Don't go please" you grabbed his arm and he sighed.
"I'm not leaving, I just need to calm down" he was standing at the edge of the bed while you stayed in your position, you rubbed his cock with your right hand and he gritted his teeth as he let out a grunting noise. God you'd love to wake up to that sound
"I told you I'll help you, didn't I?"
"Mmhm? I thought we were taking things slow darling"
His voice came out all whispery as you kept rubbing him with your hand,
"We are, I just want to see you, can I see you touch yourself? Please dadddy?" You whined and how could he ever deny you, he'd burn down the world if you'd use that voice on him
"I'll do anything for you sweet baby" he pulled his cock out so you brought your hand to yourself and bit on your lips. You have been with blessed men before but he had the prettiest cock you have ever seen, maybe it seemed that way because it belonged to him, you loved him and you loved everything about him, his large hand wrapped around his thick girth and he gave himself a stroke. He felt so indecent, standing over you with his cock in his hand, touching himself so brazenly
"Goshh you are pretty daddy, take the shirt off please" Cute of you to think you could make demands like that.
"Nooo not yet, this is all you get tonight, now be a good girl and watch daddy touch himself like you wanted" he mumbled as he stroked himself a little faster, his eyes kept opening and closing as he felt the sensation building up quickly, all the pent up sexual frustration already had him on the edge
You squeezed your thighs as the sight absolutely enthralled you and your fingers craved to touch him, your mouth craved to taste him but you wanted to be a good girl. Daddy's good girl.
"I can't wait to have you inside me, I won't stop thinking about this now" you mumbled and he smiled as his orgasm approached him more and more.
"Mmmhm pull those straps down babygirl, show me a little something, give me something to work with" your pussy tingled with the deep rumble in his voice, you pulled the straps down and tried to uncover your breasts but he stopped you, he just wanted to see the curve of your bosom. He wanted to see your breasts almost spilling out but he didn't want to see everything.
"Nuhuh that's it baby, that's all I wanted, you are so fucking beautiful love..fuck keep looking at me yeah?" He whispered so you sat up, your mouth was inches away from his cock, you moaned as he pumped himself faster and faster.
"You love being fed right? I'd love to feed you my cock someday" he whispered and his head lulled backwards as the image of you sucking him off flashed in his head.
"I can't wait to feed on your cock daddy, can't wait to eat your cum"
"Fuccckk baby you're such a good girl, so willing, so obedient, will make you feast on my cum someday ..I promise" he was so close, his voice came out strained and hoarse.
"Mmm daddy cum on my skin please, mark me, I'm yours"
And he did, he exploded all over your chest as heard your whiny pleading voice.
"Fuckk y/n baby you are mine..all mine " he mumbled under his breath as he rode through his high, he legs threatened to give out so he placed one of his knees on the bed, he was panting heavily and he looked so gorgeous in his post orgasmic bliss. You could watch him like this forever.
Once he recovered, he kissed you and picked you up in his arms, you both needed cleaning and you also needed a change of underwear.
You had three days with him, No Steve, no Suzzanah and no Rocky, just you and him in this mansion.
You were going to make the most out of this time, if tonight was any indication, you knew very well how you two will spend this time.
How to Start a Used Car Business in UAE
Tumblr media
Starting a used car business in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) can be a profitable venture, given the consistent demand for pre-owned vehicles in the region. The UAE’s growing economy, expatriate population, and a robust second-hand car market make it an attractive destination for entrepreneurs looking to enter the automotive industry. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the process of starting a used car business in the UAE, covering key aspects from market demand to cost analysis.
1. Demand for Used Cars in the UAE
Before diving into the nitty-gritty of starting your used car business, it’s essential to understand the market demand. The UAE has a thriving market for used cars, primarily driven by several factors:
Expatriate Population: The UAE is home to a diverse expatriate community with a high demand for affordable transportation options.
Affordability: Used cars offer a cost-effective alternative to brand new vehicles, making them an attractive option for both residents and businesses.
Tourism: The tourism industry necessitates a constant supply of rental and pre-owned vehicles.
2. Process of Starting a Used Car Business in UAE
Here are nine essential steps to kickstart your used car business in the UAE:
a. Business Plan
Begin with a comprehensive business plan. Define your target market, business structure, location, and strategies for growth. Identify your niche, whether it’s luxury cars, budget-friendly options, or specific brands.
b. Legal Requirements
Ensure you comply with UAE’s legal requirements for business setup. This includes registering your company, obtaining licenses, and adhering to zoning regulations.
c. Location
Choose a strategic location for your dealership. High visibility and accessibility are key, so consider setting up shop in an area with significant foot traffic.
d. Inventory
Source your inventory of used cars. You can purchase vehicles from auctions, individuals, or even consider trade-ins. Thoroughly inspect and refurbish the cars to ensure their quality.
e. Pricing Strategy
Set competitive yet profitable prices for your cars. Market research will help you understand the pricing dynamics in the region.
f. Marketing
Invest in a strong online and offline marketing strategy. Create a user-friendly website, utilize social media, and consider partnerships with other businesses in the automotive industry.
g. Financing and Insurance
Arrange financing options for your customers. You can partner with banks or financial institutions to provide car loans. Additionally, ensure your cars are adequately insured.
h. Legal Contracts
Prepare legally sound contracts for your transactions, including warranties, sales agreements, and any financing contracts. Seek legal advice to ensure compliance with UAE laws.
i. Staffing
Hire experienced staff for sales, administration, and vehicle maintenance. Professionalism and expertise are vital in building trust with customers.
3. Cost of Starting a Used Car Business in UAE
The cost of starting a used car business can vary widely, depending on factors like location, the size of your inventory, and operational expenses. You can use a cost calculator to estimate your startup costs, including expenses for licensing, rent, vehicle acquisition, marketing, and staffing.
4. Accelerate Your UAE Used Car Business with Private Wolf
Enhance Safety and Security with Reliable Barriers in UAE
Tumblr media
Hey there! Have you noticed how cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi are booming? With more people and cars around, safety becomes even more important. That's where clever folks in businesses, government, and building management come in. They're using some really neat tools called safety barriers and parking barriers to keep everyone safe and sound. These barriers are like invisible walls that help prevent accidents and keep pedestrians and drivers separated. They're also super helpful for managing parking spaces, making sure everyone gets a spot and there's no chaos! It's all about keeping our cities vibrant and safe, one barrier at a time!
Safety barrier:
Safety Barrier are adjustable solutions designed to protect pedestrians and property from potential hazards. They come in various materials and configurations, including:
Plastic barriers: Imagine you're throwing a block party and need to keep the bouncy castle safe for the little ones, or section off an area for games. This is where plastic barriers shine! Lightweight and easy to move around, they're ideal for temporary gigs. Plus, their bright colors grab attention and help everyone see where they shouldn't go. Think of them as the friendly cones of the barrier world, guiding people in the right direction.
Metal barriers: Now, let's say you're working on a construction site. Here, you need something a bit tougher. That's where metal barriers come in. These heavy-duty guys can handle bumps, scrapes, and even the occasional runaway toolbox. Metal barriers are the security guards of the barrier family, creating a strong and stable line to keep people safe.
Retractable barriers : Ever been to a fancy restaurant with a fancy rope separating the entrance ? . That's a type of retractable barrier! These clever gadgets have a belt or rope that extends from a post, letting you create a barrier that can be easily adjusted or removed as needed. Perfect for places where you need to control access but also want to add a touch of style. Think of them as the chameleons of the barrier world, adapting to any environment!
Parking barrier
Parking barrier, on the other hand, are specifically designed to manage parking spaces and prevent unauthorized access. They come in different styles, such as:
Automatic Bollards: Your Personal Parking Genie! Imagine pulling up to your spot and like magic, a short post rises from the ground, reserving it just for you. That's the magic of automatic bollards! These high-tech wonders stay hidden underground until you arrive. With a special key card (think secret handshake!), the bollard pops up, creating your own personal parking kingdom. Once you leave, the bollard disappears again, keeping unwanted vehicles at bay. Talk about convenience fit for a superhero!
Manual Bollards: Reliable and Budget-Friendly Looking for a more wallet-friendly option? Manual bollards are your answer! These sturdy posts are like the old-school knights of parking protection. They rely on a good old-fashioned key or padlock to raise and lower. Sure, they might not have the James Bond-style gizmos of automatic bollards, but they offer a reliable and cost-effective way to control access to your parking space. Plus, there's a certain satisfaction in using a good old key – a classic solution that gets the job done!
Wheel Stoppers: Simple But MightySometimes, you just need a straightforward solution. Wheel stoppers are low-profile blocks that act like parking spot bouncers. They prevent cars from going over a certain line, making sure no one accidentally (or intentionally!) steals your designated spot. These little guys are super easy to install and get the job done without any fuss. Perfect for marking designated parking areas or restricting access to specific zones, wheel stoppers are a simple but mighty way to keep your parking woes at bay.
Choosing the right barriers depends on your specific needs and the environment.
Tumblr media
Strength and Visibility: Imagine a busy road versus a peaceful park. On the road, you need a strong barrier to handle potential impact. In the park, something bright and easy to spot keeps everyone aware of designated areas.
Easy Does It: Think about how often the barrier will be used. In high-traffic areas, you'll want something that's quick to set up and take down. No one wants to spend ages wrestling with a barrier when there's a constant flow of people or vehicles.
Budgeting for Beauty: Barriers come in all shapes, sizes, and, of course, prices. Consider how much you're willing to spend and choose something that fits your budget. But don't forget about looks! The right barrier can actually enhance the overall visual appeal of your space.
Conclusion :
Busy cities in the UAE need special tools to keep people and places safe. Just like how fences keep animals in a zoo, safety barriers block off dangerous areas to protect people from getting hurt. Parking barriers are like special gatekeepers for cars, making sure only the right ones park in the right spots. This helps keep traffic flowing smoothly and finding a parking spot easier!
There are all sorts of barriers, just like there are all sorts of jobs they need to do. Lightweight barriers, like pool noodles you might use at a pool party, work well for short events. Strong metal barriers, like the ones you see around construction sites, are extra tough for big jobs.
The same goes for parking! You can pick automatic barriers that open and close by themselves, or simple wheel stoppers that keep cars from rolling away. By choosing the right barriers, the people who plan cities and events in the UAE are making sure everyone has a safe and fun time!
