No I will not shut up about the fact that Breekon mourned his Other Half. I will not stop talking about the fact that he paused for his Other Half to finish his sentence, only to sigh in resignation as he continued to speak alone. I refuse to move on from the fact that he said he felt lost like this, and that he's lacking purpose now that he is no longer bound. I will continue to be unwell that he said this to Jon and Basira, who each lost their Other Halves the same day he did.

Most importantly, I will not move on until we talk about how, in every possible sense of the phrase, he lost Hope.

I seriously need people to understand that Penelope didn't wait for Odysseus for twenty years because social expectations dictated it, or because she was expected to be a faithful wife even untill she died.

Actually it was exactly the opposite: her father wanted her to remarry, some of the women wanted her to remarry, her son made her understand that if she took another husband and left home he wouldn't stop her. And at a certain point she recounts that before leaving for war Odysseus had told her that if he were to die, she could remarry whoever she liked (making sure first that Telemachus would take the throne without problems).

I need people to understand that Penelope's choice was entirely personal. She didn't remarry because her love for Odysseus had never abandoned her, because she knew that with no one else could she find that complete identity of thought and mind, that homophrosyne that she had with him.

It was not the choice of a woman who was modest and trapped by the expectations of her time. It was the choice of a woman who was freer and more independent than others, who preferred to remain without the protection of a man rather than resign herself to not having HER man.

Oh, okay. I see. You think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select out, oh I don’t know, that gaslight gatekeep girlboss meme, for instance, because you’re trying to tell the world that you think modern feminism has been co-opted by corporations. But what you don’t know is that that meme is not from Instagram, it's not from Twitter, it's not from Tiktok, it’s actually from Tumblr. You’re also blithely unaware of the fact that in January 2021, Tumblr user missnumber1111 posted, "today's agenda: gaslight gatekeep and most importantly girlboss." And then I think it was a-m-e-t-h-y-s-t-r-o-s-e, wasn’t it, who reblogged it with an image of the phrase edited over a piece of "Live, Laugh, Love" wall art? And then gaslight gatekeep girlboss showed up in the feeds of eight different Twitter repost accounts. Then it filtered down through Instagram and then trickled on down into some tragic “alt side of Tiktok” where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that meme represents millions of notes and countless Tumblr users and so it’s sort of comical how you think that you’ve made a choice that exempts you from Tumblr when, in fact, you’re wearing the meme that was selected for you by the people in this room. From a pile of “stuff.”

A few years ago while trying to find ways to commit suicide as painlessly as possible, I came across a PDF of Dr. Paul Quinnett's The Forever Decision. Thinking it might go into actual methods of suicide (I read an article once that actually did that and was trying to find it again) I started to read it, and I think I only got about two pages in before I was crying too much to actually see the words.

I downloaded the PDF to my hard drive and I open it again whenever I'm feeling too suicidal to do much else, but not enough to start booking a ride to the hospital. And every time without fail I only go up to a few pages before backing off and choosing to live another day just because suicide suddenly seems even more unbearable than whatever the hell upset me in the first place.

All the book really does is [I'm pulling a summary from GoodReads here as, again, I've read no more than 5 pages] "discusses the social aspects of suicide, the right to die, anger, loneliness, depression, stress, hopelessness, drug and alcohol abuse, the consequences of a suicide attempt, and how to get help."

But it also starts with the author kindly asking the reader to complete the book before going through with anything, and for some reason I'm compelled to really just try to read it all before finalizing everything. Despite not yet completing it (hopefully never will) I think I can safely say it's saved my life at least a few times now.

It's intentionally legal to copy and redistribute this book to keep it as accessible as possible, and it's very easy to find, but here's a link for it anyways.

I think if you've created an elixir that turns people into goat men you have sort have gone past the need for a control group. The control group is not going to placebo themselves into goat men. You can probably not run the control group, and safely assume that none of them would have turned into goat men. That said, having a control group for that would make the mad scientist seem extra crazy and be really really funny, especially if he was carefully testing them for goat like features from the dyed water they drank instead of the elixir

i LUVVV the idea of dean coming across someone independent—not so much cocky, or a jackass, but purely just self sufficient. knows what the hell they’re doing, y’know? dean’s come across people taking advantage of others as far back as he can remember—but with you, it’s different. you do almost everything by yourself. you don’t’ ask for help often—because you truly don’t need it. maybe you have family that is more than willing to help—but you don’t want to worry them with your problems, so you just get it done alone. you’re nice, but you don’t take shit from people. you don’t try and grandstand anything, or get too full of yourself—it’s admirable, especially since people like that are hard to come across. he’s bewildered when people in your life come to you for help, come to you seeking advice—not because he didn’t think you had it in you, but because you never mentioned it. but that’s just it. you’re humble when you need to be, but you know your worth. perfect blend of humor and seriousness. dean thinks you’re not real sometimes.

another favorite—this one is completely self-indulgent because i have issues and need to get through school without losing my mind (too late). anyways yes yes you’re a nerd. sure, there’s geniuses out there, and you ain’t one—but in the world of hunters, a high school diploma’s rare. so the bar’s low. doesn’t mean that there aren’t smart hunters—you knew smarts weren’t all education. there were things you could learn in the real world. and it’s not like someone needed a piece of paper to prove how much of a genius they were. smart and funny, dean would be a goner when sam introduced you two. he’d made some off the collar remark about details on lore and help with old text being the only thing you’re good for—and you shot back with “yeah, well, the next time you need help, find someone else, then.” dean shut up after that—because you were right. you always were. but the thing is—dean’s a nerd, too. and you call him out on it immediately. he’ll never live it down. don’t tell him i told you that.

another favorite. i wish spn had an episode where dean meets someone that was just dripping in swagger. you matched his level. but see, because the thing about you is your confidence is real. it’s not a facade based off of insecurity, like most of dean’s. he’s very a little jealous of that. but he soon finds out that you’re just as insecure as he is sometimes. anyway, i'm thinking you meet him on a hunt—and you’ve heard about him, he’s heard about you—but you don’t judge people too hard until you actually meet them. and dean seems to pass your test. it’s not really a friendship, per say—but there’s a mutual respect there, an understanding. you know how dean sees himself, but you see him for what he really is: a badass.

oooh i could go on and on about this one. there’s soooo many routes and ways you could go about it. a plotline like sam and that werewolf girl in season one (RIP baddie!), or something like you’re turned into a monster for life unless you get some old book/relic/whatthefuckever. OR he literally just can’t kill you on a hunt. it should be routine—he’s done this a million times, but he just… can’t. seeing dean struggle with the values and beliefs that had been instilled in him for decades because of you? he can’t pull the trigger because he won’t let himself? because you’re the exception? YEAH BABY sign me the fuck up!

well i’ve already kinda sorta wrote about this… like a lot… but whatever shoot me idc. touch starved dean, yes—BUT YOU’RE JUST AS TOUCH STARVED AND TOUCHY AS HIM!!!!!! you’re both craving it! you both literally are desperate for it—and now FINALLY you can indulge without fear of judgement YEESSSS GIVE IT TO ME NOW! you just curl up into him in bed after a long day—or he you, depending on who’s in bed first.
