Welcome (again) to the Order of the Phoenix, Seb!
You have been accepted for the role of BRANWEN YAXLEYÂ with the faceclaim of Sonequa Martin-Green! We adored your application for Branwen! You really took the bio created and brought her to life in your own way! We especially loved the bias/prejudice section and how you really went for the nitty-gritty and didnât hold back. Weâre so excited to have her on the dash!Â
Please take a look at the new member checklist and send in your account within 24 hours! Thank you for joining the fight against Voldemort!
OUT OF CHARACTER:
NAME: Seb
AGE: 21+
TIMEZONE: CET
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Iâm on my winter-break for three weeks now, and while it might get busy for me around Jan and Feb, I should still manage at least one reply daily.
ANYTHING ELSE: Nothing really. Thank you for asking <3
CHARACTER DETAILS:
NAME: Branwen Yaxley
AGE: 30
GENDER, PRONOUNS, and SEXUALITY: Cis female. She/Her. Hard rock gold star lesbian with a(n unpopped) cherry on top.
Her sexuality was always something she was very straight-forward about. She was probably introduced to the term âhomosexualâ as a slur at first, and immediately decided to defend it, not even knowing what it actually meant. By the time she found out, she had spoken up about it too loudly to retrieve her opinion quietly. And because it seemed so magnificently radical to call herself a Lesbian and be attacked by homophobes first hand (which gave her a reason to do what she does best: fighting) that it became an identity she wore on her sleeves from a young age on.
I like to imagine that the pureblood side of the Wizarding World was â even in the 60s and 70s â less open about such topics than the Muggle World. The pureblood mentality is all about passing on âpureâ genes, isnât it? Which could mean that they see homosexuality as something standing in the way of such goals. Nevertheless, I donât think Branwen wouldâve been quiet about her identity. For one, because it told the sweet, quiet and closeted pureblood girls that they were very welcome to approach her in the shadows of certain corridors at Hogwarts, and for two, because most pureblood families raised their daughters to be perfect future wives. And this train had long left the station for Branwen. Her parents â who still think this is just a phase and will pass eventually â always knew Branwen would choose a husband fit for her rough and brawny attitude herself. So as long as they think this will still happen, they mostly refuse to talk about it with her. After all, the Yaxley name will live on whether Branwen has children or not: through honourable, righteous Corban. The one everyone is so goddamn proud ofâŠ
So, yes, Branwen has made her experiences, with emotions as well as short-lasting relationships, but only ever with other pureblood girls. After all, even if an accidental child wonât be a situation, the mingling of bloods is just âwrong and disgustingâ.
(note: I just want you to know that personally I dislike the term âgold star lesbianâ as itâs usually used to invalidate gay peopleâs identity based on their past relationships, and the same goes for âpopping a cherryâ, for obvious reasons. But when I thought about how Branwen herself would answer this question, this was the exact phrase that came to my mind. The nuances of terms donât matter to her at all as she doesnât care at all about offending people.)
BLOOD STATUS: Pureblood
HOUSE ALUMNI: Gryffindor
ANY CHANGES: Iâd love to change the FC to Sonequa Martin-Green. While Mackenzie looks very cool and has strong brawl vibes, I think Sonequa fits those vibes very well too.
Sheâs unashamed of who she is but, because of siding with the Order, does have to restrain certain parts of herself. Iâd like to express this with some hair symbolism: whenever sheâs being herself, unrestricted from either side, she wears her hair natural and open. Willing to fight anyone who might want to say something negative about her appearance. But then, for example when she joins the Order in a battle (or in smaller situations in which she has to act in a way that is unlike her), she prepares by braiding her hair. For this symbolism, I think black hair works best. It holds the most meaning, considering our societyâs prejudices against it, and thatâs why Iâd prefer Sonequa over Mackenzie!
Also, giving her a non-white FC is a nice way to visualise her name, which means âbeautiful ravenâ.
CHARACTER BACKGROUND:
PERSONALITY:
There are three things one needs to know about Branwen:
She knows exactly who she is. She acts before she thinks. She is unapologetic and relentless in what she wants and does.
I looked up the etymology of the name âBranwenâ but accidentally typed âBramâ, which apparently is the old English word for âbroomâ. Even though the name Branwen has a different origin, I had a good giggle and it gave me a good idea to explain her personality. On the one hand, Branwen is extremely skilled on the broom, most likely having played on the Gryffindor Quidditch team during her years at Hogwarts (as a Beater, naturally). On the other hand there is this a German adjective, borstig, which means to be like the bristles of a broom/brush. More than any other, I believe that this adjective describes Branwen perfectly.
She is like the rough bristles of a broom, sweeping over whatever surface she deems messy, tearing everything away from their peaceful state on the floor, allowing no failures on her side. Crash your hand directly into the bristles and you might even draw blood from the wounds, but run your fingers over them carefully, putting up no counter-pressure, the bristles will tickle you at most. Perhaps even feel like a gentle caress.
When crashing your hand into the bristles:
Itâs important to understand, that she doesnât prick for the sake of pricking. Nor is fighting for moral reasons. Sheâs not a Nora Lynch type of a personality, despite their similar willingness to quarrel.
Thereâs a saying which goes, your bubble of freedom ends where the bubble of freedom of another person starts. Branwenâs bubble is larger than most peopleâs. To be comfortable she needs to be able to swing her arms and be able to express herself loudly. She takes up a lot of space, not minding to take up other peopleâs space but minding very much when other people take up hers. Whether it be opinions, physical space or emotions, she knows exactly who she is, anyone opposing her beliefs is â in her opinion â someone who tries to minimise her bubble of freedom. So when she pricks, itâs not because quarreling with people is a way to alleviate boredom, but because she deems it necessary to gain her freedom back.
When gently touching the bristles:
In return this means that Branwen is â as long as one lets her be who she wishes to be â quite the enjoyable character. Because sheâs the opposite of whatever âsocial anxietyâ is, sheâs easy to be around. Thereâs no awkward silence, no struggle to understand what she wants, no hesitation when it comes to making plans. She leads the conversation, and because thereâs no topic too private for her, she can and will lead those conversations easily to blush-worthy places.Â
Sheâs always up for drinks and jokes, adores hearty jokes, never says no to adventures, and while she doesnât really care about âdeepâ topics or philosophising around, she does care about the problems of those she considers friends. The aforementioned caress, is a genuine one. Itâs not particularly deep, has no healing effects, but it can soothe a momentary itch. She will lend you an ear and give you concrete advice, usually even offer to deal with the problem in question herself.
This being said, there is one scenario where she restricts herself and turns a little stiff, and that is when she speaks to Muggleborns or half-breeds.
Around all Order members she wears a mask of civility, which holds in her prejudices much like braids keep her hair tied back, making sure her fight for personal freedom never turns political. But around Muggleborns and half-breeds sheâs too aware of how different she is from them.
Perhaps itâs something akin to disgust, but perhaps itâs also the fear that if she gets started on fighting for her freedom around them, she might go too far and unmask herself completely. Sheâll warily stalk around small-talk and listen more than she speaks, which is unusual for her. No leading of conversations, instead she allows herself to be led â but put a pin in this, weâll come back to it later. For now itâs important to know that Branwen is not at all the same person around people she likes, and people she is convinced donât deserve her respect. People who thinks might one day take away her freedom on a political basis.
All in all, Branwen has the kind of personality that allows for fun threads. The war doesnât affect her the way it affects most Order members (again, put a pin in that) and so not all her conversations turn around its effects. Thereâs no heaviness to her, no sorrowful pondering or air of hopelessness. After all, what has she got to lose? This being said, stir the conversation towards something she has an (utterable) opinion on, and youâre in for a ride. (As long as youâre not a Muggleborn, as previously mentioned.) She knows no shame, never thinks back about where fights went wrong, always runs head-first into what many people would consider âtaboo topicsâ. And even when fists and curses come and go flying, she will never think herself in the wrong. After all, sheâs not the one who started. It was her freedom bubble which was being stepped on! She only defended herself!
BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE FAMILY:
To understand Branwen, itâs vital to understand her family, her paternal side, the famous Yaxleys, as well as her maternal side.
Part of the sacred 28, an â in Branwenâs opinion â honourable circle of British purebloods, the Yaxleys are Scottish and have their seat in a grand castle in the highlands, not too far away from Hogwarts. Most of the sons who carried down the name were in Slytherin, however it is not uncommon for the daughters of this family to land in Gryffindor, showing that the Yaxleyâs priority has always been honour and pride.
Lachlan Yaxley, Branwenâs father, is your typical Slytherin. Heâs two-tongued and cunning, ceaselessly putting the appearance of what he does over its actual content. What he wants, heâll fight for with all his might, but contrary to his wife, he fights for it in the shadows, silently, in a way that leaves no traces of the sharp, unforgiving violence he exerts.
Bethan Yaxley, born Burke, Branwenâs mother, went to Gryffindor. Although from another generation and an even stricter familial background, she always showed signs of rebellion, of a will to fight. Raised to be the perfect bride one day, always taught to be lady-like, beautiful and adorable, her ways to get what she wanted were never concealed or performed in secret. Stand in between what she wants and herself, and your life might literally be in danger. Sheâs no less violent than her husband, but while his violence shows itself in emotional abuse, always making sure heâll be able to call himself innocent afterwards, sheâs unapologetic about her ways.
In fact, while she had been engaged to marry into the Yaxleys from a young age on, she decided herself that she wanted the older, instead of the younger brother. Her ways to get him were never concealed or performed behind closed doors, on the contrary, the whole Wizarding World watched as she made her family even more noble, even more rich, by catching Lachlan and putting him into her pocket. Did Lachlan disagree with what she wanted (his money, his nobility), no one ever learnt about it, though. He mustâve not been too disapproving of Bethanâs determination though, or else he wouldâve had his own, quiet ways to stop her. After all, make no mistake, just because he seems more subdued compared to her, it doesnât mean heâs less powerful in their relationship.
Growing up as the daughter of two people, who, on the one hand, encouraged Branwenâs large freedom bubble, always teaching her to take what she wanted, never make excuses, and on the other hand, had their own very large freedom bubble, which was so easy to overstep, was anything but easy.
The abuse â as modern Muggle psychologists would call it but which Branwenâs would never see as such â strengthened her. From a young age on she had to fight for every inch of freedom she wanted to claim for herself, be it something small like which books she enjoyed reading (âReally?â her father would always ask in a skeptical, hostile way. âThatâs something you enjoy?â) or who she knew she truly was (the day she came out to her parents, her mother wiped a spell over her, leading to a permanent scar across her shoulder which she carries to this day).
Psychologists would also be able to detect the ways it weakened her. Her fear of actually letting people come close, scared they might judge, scared she might never get the freedom back, for example. Her inability to be soft and gentle. Or her constant need to be right, as though allowing another opinion to co-exist with hers, would negate who she is as a whole person. Or her actual physical flinching at the idea of befriending a Muggleborn.
But Branwen would never admit to that, perhaps hasnât even figured it out herself yet. She firmly believes it made her strong, and perhaps it did. The ability to unapologetically demand what she wants, what she believes she deserves, it is a type of strength. To get through battles and duels with a grin on her face, because what is there more familiar and home-feeling than fighting with others? To never step down from a childhood feud that started for a reason no one quite remembers, simply because she can. To never hurt when yet another girlfriend ditches her, after all, she wasnât raised to share but to be self-sufficient, raised to never need peopleâs friendly words and gentle touchesâŠ
To her, her surname means power. It means protection and honour, and she carries her head high because of it. Being way more outspoken about it back when she was at Hogwarts, she has however stopped mentioning who she is all the time now. Perhaps because the Order wouldnât see this as something positive. Perhaps because slowly she has stopped seeing it as something quite as positive either. Before, she was quite indifferent about the prejudices the Sacred 28 fostered, not really caring about the âdeadbornâ and enslaved Squibs, and definitely not bothering to question what there was to hate about Muggleborns. Nowadays, she still doesnât really care about any of that, but she understands that her noble name comes with those opinions.
However, sheâll never renounce this name. She wonât let her parents disinherit her, she wonât let herself be burnt off the family tree, she wonât do anything thatâll risk her nobility. Even if that means that one day, she will have to let her bubble of freedom burst and submit herself to her motherâs control⊠But itâs worth it, right? To give up âBranwenâ to be a proper âYaxleyâ? After all, this name means strength. And she is strong because of it. If she were to lose her name, her family, what would be left of her? And, who knows, even though sheâs determined to win this war to stick it to her damn cousin, what if they lose? At least sheâll have a proud title to go back to.
OCCUPATION: Blacksmith and vendor at Potageâs Cauldron Shop, the Knockturn Alley branch.
After some splendid suggestions from the group, I have come up with a little idea: Wizards can conjure material goods but only for a limited period of time. It is therefore only logical that they need to buy the objects they expect to last for a whole year or longer, such as cauldrons. And therefore it is just as logical that those objects need to be manually crafted.
If some cauldrons are more expensive than others then itâs because they are more sustainable, and this is achieved by the kind of metals used, but also by the magic woven into them as they are crafted over a real flame (considering that elemental magic is the oldest and purest form, therefore also the strongest form of magic).
Branwen is clearly not in need for a job. Even if her parents disapprove of her choices, they still believe sheâll come back around to marrying and giving the Yaxley genes to a child one day. (The name and heritage will follow Corbanâs bloodline, anyway). They support her with a huge monthly allowance that make working obsolete. So why is she doing it anyway?
Well, the truth is, she started to work at Potageâs Cauldron Shop because the branch in Knockturn Alley allowed her to overhear the telling chit chat between family members. Sellspeople are so easily overseen by the rich⊠It was one of the plans she had with which she talked her way into the Order. Told them that she had a great job where she could innocently inquire about this and that and learn about what was going on with the Dark Lordâs supporters via their wives and babbling children. And because the shop is close to Borgin and Burkes, where a paternal great-uncle of her works, it not only put her parents at ease knowing heâd look over Branwen, but also allowed her to be alone often, it was a winning argument.
What she tells her parents and everyone of the noble Pureblood Society, however, is: âIâm doing this for fun.â And it mightâve been a lie once, but is it still?
Certainly, working as a friendly sellperson is mostly out of character for poor Branwen, who struggles with just letting the hostile comments of clients wash over her, but damn is she good at finding exactly the right cauldron the person is looking for. Sheâs not someone who gives up or half-arses her job. If she is asked to help someone, find the exact right cauldron for a very specific potion, then she will not rest until that very cauldron has gone over the counter.
One day however she couldnât find such a cauldron. So she went down into the cellar where the cauldrons are being made and it was the start unexpected: she began forging cauldrons herself. Manually. In the roaring fire, sheâll stand for hours and hours, one hand holding the potion-soaked hammer, in the other the metal, as her mental strength turns into physical strength. She doesnât stop when the soot covers her face, doesnât stop when her clothes drench from the sweat, doesnât stop when her muscles begin shaking under the hard work. Seemingly inexhaustible she forges, refusing to think about how this work comes from a time when Muggles and Wizards still shared lives.
No one knows that she is more than a vendor, other than the other blacksmith, and she needs this to stay that way. She is proud of every single one of the cauldrons she makes, knowing they are perfect, but she is not proud of the manual labor. Yes, there is magic involved, but still. She is a Yaxley! And this is lower class labor at best⊠But there is something about holding the heavy hammer, about feeling the fire burn in her lungs that keep drawing her back down into the cellar, and she canât explain what it is. In a way she doesnât want to think about it, because what if she began to admire Muggles for their manual labor too? Began to envy them to live in a world without magicâŠ
ROLE WITHIN THE ORDER/THOUGHTS ABOUT THE ORDER:
I think the bio does a beautiful job at explaining how Branwen feels around the Order.
On the one hand she just couldnât care less about the cause. She doesnât care about morals or politics as long as the hierarchy of society stays in a way that she can keep her power, money and title. Most Death Eaters, she assumes are good, upright citizens, family and friends, who are just concerned about the Wizarding World. Not everyone whoâs on the Dark Lordâs side immediately wants all Muggleborns dead, right? Most of them just want them apart so they canât mingle with the purity of their beautiful magical world, and isnât that very sensible? Surely most Muggleborns must agree, too!
On the other hand she has begun caring for the Order members. I love this part a lot so I donât want her to be too far into this caring yet but want to develop it as I play her. I donât want her to be too enamored with everyone just yet, but enough that sheâd consider some of them almost friends. When they talk to her about their private problems, she finds herself caring, and while she might hold back from seeking out their friendship, itâs definitely begun forming, slowly, quietly, within her. No matter how much she pretends it hasnât, she can very much feel it. This feeling of fondness. Of admiration. Adoration, at times, even.
She values strength, doesnât she? She loves fighting and honours those who fight bravely as well. So this means two things:
One, her purpose in the Order is exactly that. Sheâs not someone who will spy in other camps, or sit at home watching over a map like Edgar. Sheâs someone who wants to be out on the field, her wand in her hand, curses on her tongue. And because she lacks moral values â the Death Eater values as much as the Order values â she has no trouble fighting with all her heart. She just wants to win, what for, it doesnât really matter. She just doesnât want to lose and so she fights without hesitation, and the other Order members will know that. Thatâs perhaps why sheâs made it to Mid-Level at this point: because she has proven herself to be trustworthy on the battlefield. No hesitation, no laziness. When she fights, she fights. Sheâs in it, with her heart, head and muscles.
Two, she has seen other Order members fight like that as well. When she initially joined she didnât know what she got herself into, perhaps even thought that theyâd need her to win this war. After all, they were just some silly rebels who just happened to oppose her cousinâs side, she didnât really have faith in them. Thatâs why she joined. To prove her cousin wrong. But then the months went by, years, eventually, and Branwen had to learn a harsh lesson: those people werenât joking around. They werenât wimps. They werenât pitiful. They were everything she had ever wanted to be, and at times even more.
Usually, when she argues with someone, duels them, she has no emotions or opinions about it afterwards. Itâs never really personal. During her time with the Order, she quarreled a lot (mostly with non-Muggleborns as explained above), however it never left her quite as cold as fighting did when she was young. She began rethinking what people told her in those arguments.Â
And instead of despising her for being so head-strong, she began admiring them for it. Especially because they didnât fight like her father did, with jabs and a smirk, solely to leave you emotionally wounded. They didnât do it like her mother did it, with physical violence, rather wanting to lame you than to allow you to take up space. No, what they did, how they defended themselves, is by simply ⊠standing their ground. By reminding her of other peopleâs freedom she endangers. By taking her by the hand and guiding her to show her that them (the people who theyâre trying to defend) being free, doesnât necessarily mean she wonât have any left for herself. That true freedom means freedom for everyone.
Sheâd rather cut out her tongue than speak about this to anyone, but itâs there. This knowledge. She knows it has happened. She knows how she feels. And she fears how itâll make her decide one dayâŠ
SURVIVAL:
Being a pureblood with a well-known family, she doesnât struggle much in this war. As long as she gets her few hours at Potageâs in, no one wonders what sheâs doing during the rest of the time. She officially lives with her aunt in a city house in Wizarding London, but she mostly comes by to take a shower and change her clothes. Most of the times sheâs out at night, enjoying life, not worrying too much about all this war-trouble, and convincing people to let her stay in their bed. Yes, bed. Do you think a Yaxley would settle for the couch?
In recent times, sheâs begun sleeping over at other Order membersâ places more and more often. Perhaps because they donât ask questions like âso what are you going to do with your life nowâ? Perhaps because ⊠no. Branwen refuses to see them all as friends. Some perhaps. Close acquaintances who she happens to trust with her life. But friends? Never.
And yet, when she speaks words of comfort, holding them shielded from dark incidents, promising to be there for them, she canât help but wonder how much of her freedom sheâs already given up for their love.
It conflicts her greatly. You wouldnât see it in the way she interacts with people, but it almost scares her, all this. The idea that they might lose this war. Because it would make her cousin all too happy, yes, but also because, well, what would happen to them? Trial? Azkaban? Death?
She condemns no one from her family to be on her opposing side and yet is quite glad they donât know on which side sheâs on. Perhaps because she knows that one day sheâll see her parentsâ shoes under the Death Eaterâs robes and will have less than a second to figure out on whose side sheâs truly on.
RELATIONSHIPS:
It is safe to say that Branwen never really had friends.
At Hogwarts she was the kind of person to throw those (in)famous Gryffindor parties; aword from her and everyone would come. She knew everyone, and everyone knew her. A party thrown by her meant a good time. And people usually liked being around her. This went on even after Hogwarts, in Wizarding London. And yes, sheâs the type of person to call people she met a few times âfriendsâ, to treat them like buddies, touching them and talking to them as though she knew them for years. But real friends? People she trusted with her emotions? With her pain? With her fears? Those were incredibly rare. Countable on one hand.
One of those people is Alice Longbottom, as she proved herself from a young age on the type of person Branwen respects. Iâd need to plot with the player, of course, but I like to imagine that they got into a terrible fight-at-first-sight, and Alice won in such a glorious way, that Branwen couldnât help but feel that through her bruised ego, she was mostly just proud of Alice for having such a big dick energy. And because they spent so much time together, eventually, the deeper conversations started to unfold, and she did grow attached.
But this doesnât negate what I previously said. Sheâs not someone to get all touchy-feely with, and so many people would never place her high on their friendship list, even if Branwen does like them a lot. Like, she might feel close to someone, but theyâd never think about inviting her to their intimate wedding âfor family and just a few closest friendsâ.
So the war didnât change much. That she canât talk to her purebloodist friends about what she does outside of partying and working at Potageâs, or that she canât talk to the Order members about how little she actually cares about their cause, doesnât really affect her relationships. She was never someone to just talk about how she truly felt, anyway.
On the contrary. Because around Muggleborns sheâs forced to shut up and listen, she mightâve grown to learn how to actually listen to other people for once. Before, when someone talked in a way that bored or upset her, sheâd just say so. Around those she canât do this, she is forced to listen to their side of things, to their opinions, their feelings, and as the years with the Order went by, she mightâve begun actually caring for other people on more than just surface level. She got to know them, and because they are all brave in their own way, she began to like them.
No, she never really had friends.
But at times she wonders if she wouldnât like to be friends with those in the OrderâŠ
OOC EXPLORATION:
SHIPS/ANTI-SHIPS:
As literally everyone else, Iâll obviously say Branwen x chemistry. However, I do think that romantic/sexual relationships with men will be out of the question. Deep, important friendships as explained in the point above? Heck yes! But no romance.
Also, I do like the idea that Branwen might fall for a Muggleborn girl. Not just for the beautiful star-crossed lover trope but also just to explore her bias and morals. I think such a romance could work well for character-development.
WHATÂ PRIVILEGES AND BIASES DOES YOUR CHARACTER HAVE?
Muggles are inherently dirty. Werewolves (as well as other half-breeds) shouldnât even be just kicked out of society, they should be killed. Or at least be castrated. Itâs a shame to even consider them human, and allow them to perform magic. Muggle music is stressful and too loud and chaotic, thereâs no grace to it. The same goes for all their other art. Halfbloods can stay but their magic is weaker. The magic of Muggleborns is weaker as well, in fact, so weak, that Hogwarts shouldnât even seek out British Muggleborns but just let them stay in the Muggle world. Squibs should consider themselves lucky that theyâre made servants instead of being completely kicked out of society, as it would be the Wizarding Worldâs right to do. Itâs for people with magic, after all. A marriage between a Muggle and a Wizard/Witch should be forbidden. Salazar Slytherin was right when he said Hogwarts should stay clean of mudblood, as Muggles are known to be inherently hateful. They have proven themselves incapable of accepting magic and itâs therefore for their best to keep them unknowing of the Wizarding World. After all, what if the Wizarding World ended up being revealed to the Muggles? Would they come hunting Witches again? Or would the Wizarding World have to force them into submission, into oppression, perhaps making slaves out of them the way they do it with Squibs? Itâs just for their best to keep them away, really.
Here a handful of prejudices Branwenâs fosters. But mind you, she is not only outspoken about them but also doesnât have enough ⊠incentive to fight about it. None of this really regards her, she finds. She will fight about everything and anything, but not for moral reasons. As long as her status of a mightier Witch isnât doubted, she wonât fight with people who say Halfbloodsâ magic is valid. However if they say itâs as strong as hers, sheâll want to fight to prove them wrong. So if the war would end in favour of the Order, sheâd be like, okay, as long as I get to keep my privileges. Being rich. Getting an education. Having people respect her noble status. Etcetera etcetera.
All those beliefs she holds are beliefs because they were taught to her as facts. Not as opinions. What drives people angry are when opinions are being challenged. âThis movie was badâ. Sheâd fight people on that. But the same way no one would fight another person about the colour of bananas, she has no reason to fight people about the dirtiness of Muggles. Itâs just a fact. They clean their houses with mops! So thatâs perhaps a reason why she manages to not get into arguments with other Order members. Because she either thinks them uneducated about certain topics â or her silence forces her to listen to what they call facts, quietly challenging what she thought to be the only truth.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO?
I am easily uncomfortable in group chats and environments with new people. But this group was just so welcoming (the first night alone I received about five messages from people asking for plots!) that it made me feel terribly at ease. So I was very soon very certain I wanted another character to dive deeper into this game with all those lovely players.
I wanted a character different to my Edgar baby to explore the purebloodist side of the war, and open myself up to in-character conversations youâd never see Edgar having.
Branwen immediately caught my eye because she joined the Oder out a joke-like whim, not because she already sees the problems in her purebloodist upbringing. Itâs always a fun challenge to play a character who thinks very differently than me. The idea that someone might manage to challenge her prejudices and actually change to a point that one day she might even fight her own beloved parents in a battle, enthralls me.
PLOT DROP IDEAS:
Iâd love to see the Yaxleyâs being outed as Death Eaters, or getting hurt by the Order. To see how Branwen would react.
Iâd also love to see what will happen with the werewolves by the McKinnon farm next. Edgar seems to be getting it into his head that they should be allowed into the Farm and have a warm bed â and Branwenâs reaction to even just the suggestion makes me laugh.
Also, I wonder what would happen if a mission such as the current event fails and members of the Order get injured. If Branwenâs worry would show and if perhaps it would drive her to 1) question why their morals are worth dying for and 2) realise she does love them like friends.
Oh! Also: â[âŠ] she wonât do anything thatâll risk her nobility. After all, this name means strength. And she is strong because of it. If she were to lose her name, her family, what would be left of her?â Iâd love to explore this as well. Her being outed as an Order member, far far down the line maybe, and see what sheâd do.
ANYTHING ELSE?
Thank you for your consideration and thank you for being lovely admins! (You put in an alternative subit-page!! :D) You can be very proud of yourself and I hope youâll make it through the (dangerous for RPs) holiday season without too many losses and without getting too stressed!

âThe only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.â -- Albert Camus
âWe are unusual, tragic, and alive.â -- Dave Eggers
âI have a very childlike rage, and a very childlike loneliness.â -- Richey Edwards
ââAre you implying that shreds of my reputation remain intact?â Will demanded with mock horror. âClearly I have been doing something wrong. Or not something wrong, as the case may be.â He banged on the side of the carriage. âThomas! We must away at once to the nearest brothel. I seek scandal and low companionship.ââ -- Will Herondale, Clockwork Angel

FACE CLAIM: Samuel Larsen BUILD: Slim and muscular HAIR: Shoulder length and thick, normally kept in a bun HAIR COLOR: Black EYE COLOR: Brown SKIN COLOR: Pale DOMINANT HAND: Right handed, teaching himself slowly to write with his left as well for the hell of it (note: the handwriting is still awful). ANOMALIES: a scar on his upper right lip, ironically a small cluster of star-shaped birthmarks on his left hip (which he hates), a few old cigarette burns on his knees SCENT: leather, old spice, barber shop hair gel, cigarette smoke, motor oil ACCENT: British ALLERGIES: slightly lactose intolerant DISORDERS: Major depression, generalized anxiety, PTSD due to childhood trauma FASHION: Punk rock baby, though probably a bit out of date compared to what muggles are wearing now. He took what he could get during school, and now thereâs not enough time in the day to work, be in the Order, and go shopping. NERVOUS TICS: His body becomes more tense, and his eyes dart around the room to search for an exit (or several if possible). He also subconsciously takes a step back from whatever is making him nervous, occasionally messes with his hair to try and act casual (though he does that when heâs bored as well, so it has to be seen with one of the others to be considered a sign of his nerves). If heâs particularly high strung, heâll lose his nerve completely and lash out, no matter if itâs good or bad for the situation at hand. QUIRKS: Like mentioned above, he messes with his hair a lot when heâs bored, usually pulling it out of its hair tie if up and vice versa if down. He paces when plotting, and purses his lips when heâs thinking considerably. When heâs particularly happy heâll do a little jump, and he appears to be vibrating a little even afterward. When uncomfortable heâll try to push that feeling off with either an argument or joke, again no matter whether one of those choices is the wisest at the time.

RESIDES:Â Plainview Points Apartments BORN:Â St. Mungoâs Hospital RAISED:Â Grimmauld Place, London PETS: n/a
CAREER:Â Auror-in-Training EXPERIENCE:Â He was part of the Hogwarts dueling club for two years before being kicked out for unfair sportsmanship. He also got a considerate amount of training in magic from an early age thanks to his family, and his mother in particular taught him a bit of dark magic--or tried to. Not that he would use the dark magic, but if push came to shove... he has a few tricks up his sleeve (or, at the very least, the theory behind some of the darker magics). EMPLOYER:Â Ministry of Magic
POLITICAL AFFILIATION: Order of the Phoenix BELIEFS: Sirius, without a shadow of a doubt, believes that muggleborns and halfbloods deserve to be equal to purebloods. It took him years to believe he was allowed to have that thought process, but he grabbed onto it once he did. Despite the years of unlearning what his family tried to instill in him, it wasnât all successful. He does still have a superiority complex, and most definitely thinks himself above squibs, muggles, house elves, and so on. It takes more effort for him to respect their opinions as equal to his own, and though he knows thatâs wrong, itâs taking a lot longer than heâd like to unlearn that--if he ever can. MISDEMEANORS: Illegal animagus, chase down with James on Elvendork, driving underage on an unregistered motorcycle, his entire list of detentions at Hogwarts FELONIES: Nothing officially on record, so really heâs as innocent as it gets DRUGS: n/a SMOKES: Way too much to be healthy for his lungs ALCOHOL: Not nearly as bad as his smoking habit DIET: Generally unhealthy because he canât be bothered to cook

MORAL ALIGNMENT:Â Chaotic Good MBTI:Â ESTP-T MBTI ROLE:Â The Entrepreneur
â ESTPs are energetic thrillseekers who are at their best when putting out fires, whether literal or metaphorical. They bring a sense of dynamic energy to their interactions with others and the world around them. They assess situations quickly and move adeptly to respond to immediate problems with practical solutions. Active and playful, ESTPs are often the life of the party and have a good sense of humor. They use their keen powers of observation to assess their audience and adapt quickly to keep interactions exciting. Although they typically appear very social, they are rarely sensitive; the ESTP prefers to keep things fast-paced and silly rather than emotional or serious. â
ENNEAGRAM:Â Type 8 ENNEAGRAM ROLE:Â The Challenger
â People of this personality type are essentially unwilling to be controlled, either by others or by their circumstances; they fully intend to be masters of their fate. Eights are strong willed, decisive, practical, tough minded and energetic. They also tend to be domineering; their unwillingness to be controlled by others frequently manifests in the need to control others instead. When healthy, this tendency is kept under check, but the tendency is always there, nevertheless, and can assume a central role in the Eight's interpersonal relationships. â
TEMPERAMENT:Â Choleric
â The choleric temperament is fundamentally ambitious and leader-like. They have a lot of aggression, energy, and/or passion, and try to instill it in others. They can dominate people of other temperaments, especially phlegmatic types. Many great charismatic military and political figures were choleric. They like to be in charge of everything. However, cholerics also tend to be either highly disorganized or highly organized. They do not have in-between setups, only one extreme to another. As well as being leader-like and assertive, cholerics also fall into deep and sudden depression. Essentially, they are very much prone to mood swings. â
WESTERN ZODIAC: Scorpio
â Passionate, independent, and unafraid to blaze their own trail no matter what others think, Scorpios make a statement wherever they go. They love debates, aren't afraid of controversy, and won't back down from a debate. They also hate people who aren't genuine, and are all about being authenticâeven if authentic isn't pretty. Because of all of these traits, a Scorpio can seem intimidating and somewhat closed off to those who don't know them well. But what people don't realize is that even though Scorpio may seem brusque, as a water sign, they also are very in tune with their emotions, and sometimes may find themselves caught up in their feelings. This leads to Scorpio's central conflict: Their feelings are what drives them and strengthens them, but their mutability can scare them and make them feel vulnerable and out of control. Because of this conflict, Scorpios, like their namesake, the scorpion, put up an outer shell and may seem prickly. But once people get beyond the shell, they find a loyal, loving person whose passion knows no bounds. Scorpio dives into all life has to offer with 110% enthusiasm. A Scorpio will be your most loyal friend, most dedicated employeeâand your worst enemy, if they want to be. â
CHINESE ZODIAC:Â Year of the PigÂ
â Pig is mild and a lucky animal representing carefree fun, good fortune and wealth. Personality traits of the people born under the sign of the Pig are happy, easygoing, honest, trusting, educated, sincere and brave. The possible dark sides the Pig people are stubbornness, naive, over-reliant, self-indulgent, easy to anger and materialistic. They are sometimes regarded as being lazy. â
PRIMAL SIGN:Â Squid
â Squids are powerful personalities that can only be âchecked and balancedâ by themselves. They are highly capable, intelligent individuals who seem to know everything. Generally good natured, they also have a hidden inner dark side which resides deep within themselves. No one is allowed into this secret place, often not even themselves. Squids will even try to bury painful truths within themselves in order to avoid dealing with difficult emotions and situations. â
TAROT CARD:Â Justice, High Priestess
â Justice and The High Priestess have in common that everything is accounted for. Justice examines everything for flaws in order to find its flawless essence. The High Priestess knows the secret of everything as it is in order to encompass everything. Justice demands of everything its true nature and essence, with nothing concealed, withheld or distorted. It tirelessly weighs and measures, satisfied with nothing less than the clear, the absolute, and the irreduceable in everything. Justice is adamant and uncompromising with its sword and scales, loud and clear in its redness, fearless and certain on its throne, guarding the entrance to the temple of the secrets of perfection. The High Priestess finds what is the same in everything, the secret unifying core hidden in the endless variation of detail. She patiently discovers in all differences what is true, original and undisturbed in everything. The High Priestess is accepting and inclusive with her scroll and cross, calm and quiet in her blueness, fearless and certain on her throne, guarding the entrance to the temple of final knowledge. Unintegrated and imperfectly realized, Justice can be given to rage and haste; it can become arrogant and hypercritical, aggrieved and vengeful, or uncertain and vacillating. The High Priestess can be a conceited know-it-all, moody and taciturn, secret and unapproachable; she can be despairing and lost, or given to excess and careless of consequences. Together, they dream of the perfect, the ultimate, and pursue it in more than one kind of undertaking. They continuously seek the truth, and in its service they are drawn to esoteric studies and unusual paths. â
TV TROPES:Â White Sheep, Jerk with a Heart of Gold, In the Blood, Hot-blooded, Good is Not Nice, Cultural Rebel, Badass Biker SONGS: Gasoline, Halsey; The Future Freaks Me Out, Motion City Soundtrack; This is the End (For You My Friend), Anti-Flag; Hate Conquers All, Anti-Flag; Downtempo, Scouting for Girls;
IDEOLOGIES: - Actively cuts out everyone who was part of his childhood unless theyâve somehow proven they can be trusted again; he avoids his family at all costs. - The day he found out he was lactose intolerant, however mild, was a mournful day. He sulked about Hogwarts for about a week. - Legitimately tried to swim to the bottom of the Black Lake and see the giant squid. Never succeeded. - If you bring peanut butter anywhere near him he will chuck it across the room. He hates it. - Genuinely enjoys being a dog more than a human sometimes. Yes, heâs aware of the irony. - The only people allowed to make puns off of his name are James, Peter, Remus, Lily, and Marlene. Heâll get annoyed at anyone else who tries (also wise to avoid using the word serious around him for the above reason). - Keeps telling himself heâll quit smoking someday. The likelihood of that actually happening is about slim to none, RIP to Siriusâ lungs.

ARCHIE for the role of SIRIUS BLACK, using the faceclaim BLAIR REDFORD.
Your application for Sirius is stunning, and incorporates lots of little details which flesh out the character wonderfully. Youâve portrayed the complexity of Siriusâ current situation so well, and there is some truly beautiful writing here. I am very excited to welcome you to Quartus Bellum!
ooc details
Name: Archie
Age: Twenty five
Pronouns: She/her
Activity Level: Iâm a current PhD candidate, so my time is pretty strapped. I am also coming out of a writing hiatus, so Iâm a little rusty, but this game was so alluring I just thought Iâd be an idiot to pass up some world building and exploring. I can probably be online a few times a week, but I can promise lengthy replies in lieu of my absence. I hope thatâs okay. I would definitely like to keep the mod team updated on things if Iâm away for whatever reason, just so weâre on the same page and everything!
Other: No triggers! But thank you very much for asking. Iâm just extremely motivated and intrigued by this plot, so I have to give major kudos to such an arresting idea. Please also note that I am applying from a mockblog I have created for the purpose of this application.
Acknowledgement: I acknowledge that the themes of this game may include triggering elements. I also acknowledge that my character may be harmed, coerced, or even killed (with playerâs consent) during paras/events or may cause harm to or kill others during paras/events.

general ic details
Name: Sirius Orion Black
Age: Twenty one (November 3rd, 1959)
Ships: Chemistry. Full disclosure, the biography given for Sirius gave me a lot of Sirius/James feelings (like, a lot), but I also really ship Sirius/Remus. I write Sirius as gay, but overall Iâm pretty relaxed about writing relationships provided theyâre realistically depicted and well-paced.
Gender/Pronouns: Genderfluid (he/him or they/them)
Face Claim: Blair Redford (x), Luke Pasqualino, Sean Teale * * Iâve gone back and forth between these three for ages... Ordinarily I write the Black family as POC, so after a Great Struggleâą in which I seriously admired Luke Pasqualino in âSnatchâ, I decided to do something different and go with Blair Redford. Now, I do have a possible headcanon around Sirius and Regulus being half-brothers, so that can give the Regulus player some freedom around choosing a faceclaim, as I know matching ethnicities can be tricky (especially as Blair is half unspecified Native American). I will say, however, that I am open to discussing Siriusâ faceclaim, so if youâre unsure Iâm happy to talk about it with you.

biography:
Sirius wasnât supposed to live past twenty one.
Itâs a morbid, private thought, one best left for murmuring into the black velvet of late nights, supine with firewhiskey and muggle cigarettes. See, Sirius never expected to make it to sixteen, but then a certain shaggy-haired idiot named James F. Potter happened, and Siriusâ fears went out the window (literally â have you ever tried to pry open the latch of a very old semi-sentient house that doesnât want its heir to escape? Harder than it looks). When the war started, Sirius accepted the likelihood of his imminent death with little fanfare. It was easier, anyway, to throw himself into missions and the gutsy bravado that gripped 1979 like a fever. The city was alive: subtropical clubs; the tongues of strangers; heady muggle music; the Order laughing, packed into some tiny apartment, drunk off their tits. And even before that haze dissipated, they all felt immortal. The war was real, of course, but so were they, and Sirius was young, and dumb, and he was one of the best duelers by far, so why shouldnât he take to the streets, Doc Martens smacking the pavement, dodging after some Death Eater? The Black household was one shrouded in death, what with the dusty portraits of forgotten ancestors, their eyes following you in the gloom, and his own motherâs obsession with mortality, as if the Pox that claimed their father was a mere token of magicâs cruel whim to give and take away. The Marauders filled him with hope; the Order stoked those embers to flames. But there was always something within him, some stoic knowledge, that this was too good too last. He was a Black: his blood ran thick as oil.
If anyone asks (which they donât, because despite his newfound control, Sirius can still be frightening), losing James was more than a sucker punch to the gut. The Order had lost so many brave witches and wizards at the height of the war, but those terrible deaths were nothing compared to Jamesâ disappearance. No, not disappearance. Kidnapping. Theft. They stole Prongs from Siriusâ useless fingers, swept him away for good, and Sirius was powerless. Maybe that was what hurt most of all: knowing that no matter how deeply he felt for James, how fortifying and achingly tender their friendship was, it just wasnât enough. Sirius thought he was incapable of love before he met James. But where did that get him? The yawning dark of an empty flat; shaking hands in the cold dawn light; the blood-pound of fear in his jugular, drumming hard enough to make his eyes spot black. Sirius didnât give himself a chance to mourn, to wonder, to do anything other than drown himself in the rescue effort. The loss of Dumbledore was similarly shattering, but Dumbledore was more figurehead than individual: a manifestation of everything the Order wanted to be. James was real: he was blood and bone. He was laughter and the glossy gold of a snitch, he was private jokes and intense bravery. He was Siriusâ counterbalance. And then he was gone.
Sirius isnât the same. None of them are. Everything theyâd fought for was extinguished in twenty four hours. That might partly explain Siriusâ habitual visits to the muggle world. Disguised as Padfoot is as good as being invisible. He can slip through their ordered, ordinary world, and feel, at least for a few hours, that his pathetic excuse for an existence hasnât been obliterated close beyond repair. Sirius tells himself theyâll claw it all back. Dumbledore, James, the Ministry. There is a terrible anger within him that is beyond anything he has ever felt. It is cavernous, infinite, far darker and bruised than any reservoir of loathing for his family. It is so intense that he cannot even speak about it. Sirius has always been a little frightened of how deeply he feels, but this redraws those boundaries. That feeling that his life is on a countdown has compounded. Sirius is willing to do anything to take back what is rightfully theirs. He spent his youth at war. It makes sense heâll die at war too. Heâs ready to throw open his arms and embrace the abyss, laughing in delirium, Is that all youâve got? Well come on then!

my character is:
HOW IS YOUR CHARACTER LYING TO THEMSELVES (AND HOW IS THIS SHOWN EXTERNALLY)?
Everything is fine. Everything is, of course, not fine, and is in fact irreparably fucked. But the alternative to Siriusâ externally calm demeanour is Sirius totally losing his bottle, and no one can have that, mainly because it would be the least useful thing he could do for the cause. Sirius is used to being someone people admire â there was no shortage of that in school, and even in the early period of the war: someone catching his eye hopefully, waiting for his go ahead; the mere recollection warms him with a rare, near-forgotten sense of purpose â but itâs quite another to have the final say in something. Sirius doubts himself so much. Heâs not exactly a rational thinker. His vengeance is cold and cruel, that is certain, but even that type of behaviour is inherently emotional. Sirius revels in disorder: he enjoys feeling unmoored, likes not knowing. Heâs not like Moony or Peter, who needed some semblance of routine to feel comfortable. Sirius quite likes feeling out of his depth; discomfort demands action. But heâs not good at communicating that, and he struggles with giving solace to someone who very badly needs to know that things are under control. Sirius hasnât quite stooped to going, âThere, there,â and patting someone awkwardly on the shoulder, but itâs close to it. Heâs the first to loudly suggest a drink at some muggle pub after a disastrous mission, and heâs the last to leave, still nursing his beer long after everyone else has straggled home. Sirius isnât eloquent like James; he isnât calm like Moony. Hell, he doesnât even have Wormtailâs pragmatism (before he betrayed them all, the absolute fucking bastard). Sirius is waiting for someone to catch him out. Heâs not built to be a leader. The only thing heâs good for is a shag and a fun time. Right? Heâs not⊠heâs not what they think he is. Heâs useless. Heâs a joke. Itâs a joke. But itâs a fine joke. Ergo: everything is fine. It has to be. Otherwise heâll drag everyone else into the flames with him, and if thereâs anything Sirius is truly frightened of, itâs someone else recognizing just how deep the streak of darkness within him runs.
YOUR CHARACTERâS JOB (WHAT DO THEY DO AND HOW DO THEY FEEL ABOUT IT?)
Sirius is dedicated to the Ashen Phoenix. Even when the Order of the Phoenix still existed, when it was little more than a ragged group of idealistic Hogwarts graduates and wayward aurors, when Dumbledoreâs vague effluence alternately inspired or infuriated them, back when the war seemed â well, not winnable, but certainly surmountable â even then, Sirius was too much. Too brash, too rough, too much of a muchness that made people like old Mad Eye growl under his breath about upstart sprogs. There was something to be admired in Siriusâ explosive determination, even as his reckless behaviour and breathless duels with Death Eaters was more exasperating than useful. âWhat?â heâd retort defensively, to a room of tired Order members. âThey were asking for it.â
Sirius had always been too much. When everything â when James â when it all went to utter shite, itâs probably no wonder that Sirius lost whatever loose grip on sanity heâd ever had, and tossed it all in to band up with Mary and Lily. Lily, whom he could barely stand on a good day, who suddenly became one of the most important people standing stalwart against the uncertain scaffolding containing his so-called life. Was it really that surprising? Sirius has always privately regarded his grip on reality to be tenuous at best. Combine that with a deep, unwavering streak of hatred for blood purists, and youâve got a terrible combination. Successful, sure; but dangerous. He canât afford to be the rambunctious âupstartâ that once semi-terrorized the Order of the Phoenix, nor can he sit about on his laurels, skulking in espionage or plotting elaborate shadowy schemes. Siriusâ patience runs thin at the best of times. No, instead heâs squashed himself into a rather uncomfortable box between âprobably could be classified as a war crimeâ and âslightly morally questionable but still alright enough to make Evans begrudgingly admit that was a good ideaâ. Itâs not a comfortable fit, and Sirius still isnât sure how he ended up growing up so bloody fast, but heâll do anything to turn back the tide of the darkness that now laps menacingly against their throats.
Aside from that, he spends quite a lot of time inadvertently posing as a muggle homeless person. Or a big shaggy dog. In comparison to being a magical fugitive, itâs almost like going on holiday.
ADDRESS THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN WHAT YOUR CHARACTER IS CURRENTLY DOING AND WHAT THEY WOULD PREFER TO DO.
Sirius does not like responsibility. It smacks of adulthood, and Sirius never thought heâd live to see that, let alone become a ruddy pillar of virtue. Itâs not that he intensely dislikes fussing over details for the Phoenixes, but it does not come naturally to him â heâs no James, put it that way (James, who was forever buzzing around them all in a manner simultaneously carefree and watchful, whoâd jokingly suggest you get a jumper otherwise youâd get a cold, you bellend, so just go grab one, oh, and would you get him a chocolate frog on the way, thanks). Sirius actually doesnât like people looking up to him. What does he know? Heâs just some irresponsible dog whoâd much, much rather zip away on his motorbike to blast You-Know-Whoâs bits off, and sod the consequences. If he didnât have Mary and Lily keeping him in check, Merlin knew where heâd be. Probably sharing a cell with Dumbledore. Knitting scarves and gossiping. Some lark like that. Instead heâs relegated to asking mundane questions like, âAre you sure thatâs a good idea?â and, âWait, try this healing charm.â Sirius listens to his own blather and wants to be sick. He feels the words can no one see I donât know what Iâm doing! burning every inch of him, pounding against the underside of his skin, flaring across his pained expression. âI want James back,â he said (thoughtlessly) to Lily once; and sheâd shot him a look and said, âWe all do.â You donât get it, Sirius thought. I want him back because I need him. I canât do this on my own. I need him.
Sirius does not want to turn back the clock. Despite his irreverent mindset, Sirius isnât a fantasist. Heâs emotionally charged and often irrational, but he doesnât indulge in make-believe. There is no way things are going back to normal. Thereâs not even a fragment of what they left behind: those few months after school ended and before the war began, when London was besieged by an oppressive summer humidity, and the Marauders tumbled in and out of parties, drinking and laughing, carefree and stupid; the sanctity of Hogwarts, and how innocent theyâd been; even old Regulus, with his pinched, shrewd expression, but the way his eyes would loosen and warm whenever Sirius ruffled his hair and affectionately called him a tosspot. Sirius cherishes these slivers of the past, counting them out like his last coins, weighing their treasure in the palm of his hand. The memories he makes now are bleak. Undernourished effigies of a world devolved. Sirius might feel beset with fear about the future, but he is still⊠adaptable. He was at sixteen, when he left home on a wing and a prayer, and he is now, at twenty one. No more clever, and a great deal more out of control, but able to adapt, change, mold, mend. Sirius recognizes the strange surrounding landscape and has vowed, if silently, to learn its routes, to memorize its violent topography. Survival. That was what his parents had always taught him, right? That pure blood dominates. The Marauders taught him that too, albeit in compassionate terms of friendship and trust, things Sirius had to re-learn at eleven and still is, in a way. The Order drilled him in guerrilla warfare. Dumbledoreâs capture stripped him of complacency. And James⊠Well, survival demands vigilance. Survival turned him into something else: someone sharper, more serious, blackened around the edges. Sirius doesnât want to turn back the clock because that would mean leaving this new version of himself behind. And like it or not, this is the only version of Sirius sodding Black that could ever make it out the other end. So, tits up to you, Voldy. This bitch ainât going nowhere.
OOC QUESTIONS
WRITING SAMPLE:
[ REDACTED ]
EXPLORATION:
A LONG-AWAITED REUNION â One of the major subplots for this group is, of course, the return or recapture of James. From Siriusâ perspective, I think James returning to his life would signal a number of critical things â it might even be a turning point in his characterization. I see Sirius at the moment as barely hanging on. Stress exacerbates his pre-existing feelings of insufficiency and vulnerability, so he is at a stage as a member of Ashen Phoenix where heâs strung out and exhausted, burning the midnight oil, hollow-eyed and discomfortingly stoic. The loss of James was an enormously heavy blow, and thatâs no overstatement. If James was somehow returned, I think that would fill Siriusâ sails with the winds of renewal and hope. He and James were a double act; they were shadows of each other. Without him, Sirius feels like a fraud.
PLAYING NICE â Sirius has never been good at pretending. His emotions run close to the surface, flashing in his quicksilver eyes at the slightest provocation. It never used to take much for him to plunge from a euphoric high to a turbulent anger, his moodiness as tempestuous as a tide. But thatâs not how you lead people. You canât expect people to see past your thunderstorm behaviour to the reality of the situation: that Sirius has always felt a split second away from free-fall. Most people arenât like James, or Moony, or even bloody Wormtail â they canât see that itâs all an act; that Siriusâ vulnerabilities run swift and deep, and his bravado is just a reliable way to deflect unwanted probing. Since Mouldy Voldy started swinging his shriveled old cock around, Sirius has had an abrupt about-face. Itâs never easy, and he often forgets that heâs supposed to be playing nice. In fact, one could make the argument that he hasnât changed much at all: heâs still a moody bastard. But sometimes he takes a deep breath instead of bursting in rage; sometimes he clenches his fists instead of flying for his wand. I would like to explore Sirius working hard to keep a lid on his temper, particularly given the success of Ashen Phoenix relies, at least in part, on him keeping it together for a little while longer.
THE IMMORTALITY OF REGULUS ARCTURUS BLACK â Reuniting Sirius and Regulus is a massively important subplot for me, and I think it could have powerful consequences in this group. Iâm not sure how Sirius will take Regulusâ vampirism â itâll certainly be interesting to find out. In another context I could see him falling about in horrified laughter, because now Regulus will get to hang around with Walburga forever. But I wonder now if their prolonged absence from each other will stir within Sirius a long-buried sense of responsibility. Heâll probably start worrying about Regulus, terrified that the new Dark Ministry will hunt his brother down and exterminate him. He might even (gasp!) become horribly over-protective, hating himself all the while for needling Regulus about âfeedingâ and all that dosh (âShut up!â Sirius snaps as Regulus raises a single eyebrow. âItâs not like thereâs a manual about becoming a bleeding vampire, is there?â A pause. âNo pun intended.â) No doubt thereâs a degree of irony in an ex-Death Eater suddenly becoming the prey of his old buddies, but Sirius isnât a masochist. As stupid as Regulus has behaved, theyâre still brothers. Even before the war turned for the worst, Sirius still missed him. Yearned for him to be back. Regulus was the biggest idiot in Britain, but he was Siriusâ idiot, and if Sirius had heard more than a whisper about his brother he would have probably done something very stupid to rush to his side. Call Sirius a lot of things, but being disloyal could never be one of them.
EXTRAS:
I have created a mockblog for this group, which is the account I am submitting from. You can find it here. I have also written some general headcanons, which you can find below!
Sirius started getting muggle tattoos during the war. The first war, that is, back when they all thought itâd be over by Christmas. Heâs got about seventeen, possibly a few more, all in black ink, most of them done in poky muggle tattoo parlours buried in the heart of London, but a couple of them are magical: the dragon across his left shoulder blade, for example, which sneezes fire when you tickle it just right. Itâs an eclectic collection that illustrate Siriusâ natural whimsy: a series of ancient runes that Moony told him meant something cool (although Sirius has since suspected Moony was an absolute tosser, and the runes in fact spell âtotally gullible gobshiteâ); an elaborate diagram of the planets in the middle of his back; a broom that zips around his arm (Jamesâ fault, that one); an anatomically dubious pin-up girl (Sirius wanted a guy, but the tattoo artist looked frightening, and Sirius wasnât in the mood to go toe-to-toe about his sexual preferences); and, for reasons best left alone, ancient constellations scattered most of his chest. There are some other tattoos squashed in here and there â a Gryffindor lion, a protection symbol that Moony literally laughed aloud at when Sirius showed it off â that are mainly impulse decisions. Sirius loves them all. The ink is so black against his brown skin, the magical designs flickering in the corner of his eye, and it all gives the illusion of him appearing alive, ever in motion, an intricate living illustration.
Sirius still owns his motorbike, although itâs too dangerous to ride it. Some arsehole (Bellatrix, probably) ratted him out, and now everyone and their mother is on the hunt for a sleek black motorbike. He isnât stupid enough to ride it, no matter how burning the urge, although sometimes he does go out to Clapham, where heâd parked it in a muggle garage, just to linger over it for a few stolen moments. One day heâll blaze it right over London, preferably in celebration of Balding Voldyâs bloody demise. One day. He will.
Sirius is gay. The revelation came unobtrusively. Heâd always known there was⊠something awry. Youâd have to be blind, deaf, and dumb not to be surrounded by all of those posh pureblood birds growing up and feel nothing more than resignation at their proximity (their brothers were far more intriguing). Sirius played along for a bit at school, going out with a few girls, making out with McKinnon at more than a few parties. It was all serviceable, except for the fact it was tremendously boring, and if there was anything Sirius resented, it was feeling confined. He came out (very loudly) in his sixth year (in the middle of the Great Hall; it was quite the gossip for a week or so), and has since been perfectly content with advertising his sexuality at the nearest opportunity. Heâs no blushing violet, put it that way. While Wizarding society is more or less accepting of sexuality (his parents notwithstanding: Sirius was still expected to marry and produce an heir; and that thought, of dragging some brat into the world through duty alone, turned his stomach), the fragmentation in muggle society is something else. Sirius is still too enthusiastic about muggle life to ever really fit in â heâs been asked innumerable times if heâs a tourist, which absolutely delights him â but the gay and lesbian rights movements in recent years has captured his attention. Heâs kept up with the news about protests, and once apparated into an alley adjacent to a march for queer liberation. Weâre here, the muggles chanted, weâre queer! We wonât disappear! The feeling was incredible. Wixen didnât have anything like this â it was all just taken for granted. But the fight of the muggles. Their determination; their spirit. Their strength in demanding what was theirs. It left him breathless, and for the first time in his life, proud.
Sirius spends a lot of time as Padfoot these days. Itâs just easier. Heâs a dab hand at disguise charms â had to be, when the war started to turn truly dark and a Black blood traitor head on a spit was a coveted prize â but outside of a handful of people, Siriusâ animagus form is a secret. Lily knows, of course, as does Macdonald, but they have to. Slinking around London as a dog makes for surreptitious travel, even if heâs taken on some bad habits as a human. Fleas genuinely are the worst, alright? He canât help scratching himself fiercely at the slightest itch.
The way Sirius dresses now is a diluted version of the summer of 1979. Back then, London was a heaving cesspool of cramped, humid clubs, gigs outfitted in leather and gelled spikes, tight chokers, and a casual, careless androgyny that made Siriusâ heart beat fast. Back then he didnât give a toss. Now, of course, heâs no longer a naive graduate, and the world has grown dim. He usually wears a leather jacket over some band t-shirt, a pair of black ripped jeans, Doc Martens. Thatâs toned down, for him. While a lot of the jewellery has gone, Siriusâ fingers are still bejewelled with rows of heavy silver rings, and a dragon tooth earring swings from his left ear. His eyes, once glittering with flirtatious humour, are ringed dark with wariness; and his cutting bone structure has sharpened with one too many missed meals. Sirius is probably physically bulkier than he was at school, simply because sleeping rough and hauling arse after a dozen Death Eaters tends to fill you out, but his body is still lean, with an echo of that languid grace that whispered of pureblood ballrooms and charity galas. Siriusâ hair has grown long, and he usually ties it sloppily away from his face, but he stays clean shaven⊠most of the time. Lily once said he looked like a Lennon on a bad trip after Sirius reappeared after a rendezvous in Dublin for four weeks. Heâs still trying to figure out if that was an insult.

Congratulations Dani youâve been accepted to Crimson Revolt as Sirius Black!
âł please refer to our character checklist
Dani youâre back! And weâre so excited to have you back! Sirius is so important to this group, especially with the most recent plot drop and weâre so excited to see you play him out and cause a little trouble. As usual, your writing is wonderful and your characterization is lovely.
application beneath the cut (tw: slurs, mentions of body dysphoria)
INTRODUCTION
Dani here (again, finally!) and Iâm 25 now. My preferred pronouns are she/her and I am from Michigan in the US, so EST timezone.
ACTIVITY
Iâm going to low-ball and say like 5-6/10 ??? Â I have a few weeknights free, and then more time on the weekends.
HOW DID YOU FIND US?
Old member, but initially it was through the marauderâs rp tag, I believe.
WHAT HARRY POTTER CHARACTER DO YOU IDENTIFY WITH MOST?
Funnily enough, Iâve always hardcore connected with Sirius. Our personality types are very similar, and Iâve always been the âPadfootâ in groups of friends. And growing older Iâve identified similarities between his upbringing and home life and my own, so yeah. But I also identified with Harry, Hermione, and Luna when I was younger. I donât exactly remember why, but I did ? Â Maybe it was the outcast factor or whatever, but those are all tied for second after Sirius, I think
ANYTHING ELSE?
This group is legit the best group ever.
IN CHARACTER
DESIRED CHARACTER
Sirius Orion Black III âââ He is named for the Dog Star, the most brilliant star in the sky, visible from anywhere on Earth - an actuality he embraces and carries with him from the moment he is able to understand its meaning. Ancient namings signify he is scorching, sparkling, bringing destruction and rebirth. He is important, and his name informs everyone of such.
But he is the point of Canis Major, a hunting dog, ever looking towards his master, Orion. Later, he would think it ironic that he was intended to obediently follow the hunter across the sky. When he was young, though, he did follow his father, his master, with wide eyes and a thirst to learn, to emulate. He did, after all, carry his fatherâs name as one of his own. He thought it only right that he be his hunter. He learned quickly enough to leave Orion Black be.
His name embraces the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black - a reality he despises when he is older. He is taught to believe that to be a Black, to be a Pureblood is to be royalty. He believes it.
He spends the majority of his childhood being trained to be the perfect Pureblood heir, to be the perfect Black. He attends many Pureblood-only balls and events, and is taught the proper way to mingle with other Purebloods. He learns manners and etiquette, and he is expected to be a proper child. There are never many other children at the balls, but he is reminded that it is improper to run about and make a fool of oneself like ordinary children; he is, after all, anything but ordinary.
How could he be? His name attests to his brilliance.
FACE CLAIM
Miles McMillan is my boi, okay
REASON FOR CHOSEN CHARACTER (tw: mania, depression, alcohol)
This is long, Iâm so sorry but not really. But Sirius Black has been one of my favorite literary characters since I was in 3rd grade and first read Prisoner of Azkaban. There was just always something about him, and I donât even know how to put into words how much I love Sirius Black. I remember the moment I fell in love with him, though, was when I was reading PoA and this man who had just spent the last twelve years wrongly imprisoned for an horrific crime he didnât commit, and who had just spent the last year on the run with his godson thinking him responsible for betraying James and Lily, offers for Harry to leave the Dursleyâs and move in with him. Even after everything he had been through, he was still willing to immediately take in Harry and take his place as his rightful guardian. It breaks my heart that they were never able to be a proper family, but thatâs discourse for another time!
Sirius was really the first character I ever really roleplayed, and heâs been living and growing in my head for six or seven years now, as silly as that sounds. My Sirius muse is always active and talkative and ready for action, and I love being able to put him out there and develop him further and still learn new things about him even after all this time (reference, yus!). Iâve always just felt a real connection with him. Maybe itâs because I see parts of myself in him, or maybe itâs because itâs just always been really natural and easy for me to get into his head and way of thinking. Heâs always been more than just a character to me.
His personality, for me, has developed a lot since the early days. I think itâs easy to get sucked into fanon interpretation early on, especially with characters that have a really strong fandom presence. But Iâm really proud of the character heâs become, and I think he strays from a lot of typical fanon stereotypes. One of the biggest stereotypes - and one that really bothers me - is that Sirius is some kind of Don Juan-Lothario-playboy-heartbreaker-type.
âWith another shock of excitement, Harry saw Sirius give James the thumbs-upâŠ.a girl sitting behind him was eyeing him hopefully, though he didnât seem to have noticed.â
Siriusâ main concern has always been, and will always be, his friends. He cares far more for his Marauders and their pranks than he does for birds and sleeping around. Heâs a flirt, yes, but only because heâs charming and needs to grace everyone with that charm. Itâs harmless flirting, and itâs not his fault if anyone takes it as anything other than that.
I also love dabbling in the Black side of Sirius. While Sirius is a very good person, I think a lot of that is due to him being sorted in Gryffindor and befriending James Potter. Without his influence, I think Sirius would be a very different person. Not all of that is inherent, but Sirius definitely has a cruel, cunning streak in him (i.e. that time he almost killed Snape). A lot of it is in his nature, and some remains from his upbringing; our early years and development have a huge impact on the people we become. So, I think itâs interesting, especially in the state of the world as it currently is, to play with just what parts of Siriusâ personality become more dominant. Add to that Sirius being part of the Aversio, and I think itâs a really great combination of ruthless, cunning cruelty and the person the Marauders helped him become to create something new all together. Iâd be really interested to see how that changes him and, maybe, influences a shift to the Sirius he could have been had he not met James and the Marauders.
In my headcanon, as well, Sirius is living with undiagnosed Bipolar Disorder. It wonât ever be diagnosed or named in-game since theyâre living in 1979 (itâs still fairly misunderstood now), but it definitely affects him. I feel like his upswings are pretty intense, and it usually results in him wanting to be out all the time and doing things, and he feels infallible and invincible, and heâs a lot more likely to be reckless and make snap decisions. He definitely has a tendency towards dangerous ideas that he thinks are absolutely brilliant (see: the Prank with Snape). On the other end of it, though, Siriusâ lows are very low, and he self-medicates with alcohol when he âs suffering from the worst of his depression (see: pretty much all of Order of the Phoenix). But I donât think that Sirius recognizes the depression as such. Itâs a lot easier for him to acknowledge when heâs feeling great and on top of the world as opposed to when heâs feeling like shit and struggles with getting out of bed in the morning. Heâs a lot more likely to hide that side of himself, too, and play it off with a smirk and light-hearted joke at someone elseâs expense.
PREFERRED SHIPS // CHARACTER SEXUALITY // GENDER & PRONOUNS Â (tw: slurs, mentions of body dysphoria)
If someone were to ask Sirius his gender and sexuality, though, he would quirk a brow and scoff and let out a bark of laughter because, obviously, heâs got a cock and heâs not a queer, what sort of daft question is that? But his closest friends know that he enjoys the company of both men and women, although lately heâs sought out men more often than not.
Sirius doesnât remember the exact moment when he realized that he was attracted to men. Maybe it was sometime in his third year, when he had accompanied James to watch the Quidditch team practice. Maybe he had caught himself staring at one of the seventh years - a boy with shaggy brown hair and a strong jaw - as he flew around the Pitch. Maybe he had felt the distinct swoop in his stomach as he had watched, and maybe he had imagined what it would be like to kiss the older boy.
But Sirius only really remembers being too afraid to say anything to James, Remus, and Peter, being afraid that it would change everything and they would think him a freak, a faggot they didnât want to be friends with, anymore. James found out, though, and nothing changed between them, and soon after so did Remus and Peter. It became much easier after that to accept that part of himself. He doesnât hide that amongst his friends or the Order; although the muggle world is less accepting of his sexuality, he doesnât pay much attention to anyone who gives him shit. He flips them the bird and continues on his way.
What he would never admit to, however, is the many times he has passed frilly shop windows and imagined being able to wear whatever clothes he wants that he sees, or wished he could be as comfortable in his own skin as David Bowie, or Freddie Mercury. Sirius doesnât always feel exactly right in the body he has, and he doesnât understand it even a little bit. After all, itâs hard enough to deal with the war; he doesnât want to even begin to focus on the whole gender bit.
The other thing he would never, ever admit to is the feelings he has harbored for Remus since they were realized in roughly fifth year. He remembers it was an ordinary moment; Remus had been working on an essay and nibbling on the end of his quill, and Sirius had been watching him, entirely too distracted, and it had justâŠhit him. But, of course, he wasnât deserving of Remus. He would never be deserving of Remus. Sirius wrestled with the feelings for a good year or so, but he has long since accepted them without hope for it ever changing.
In modern terminology, he would identify as a gender-fluid demiromantic pansexual, but thatâs too fancy and way ahead of his time, so all he knows is that heâs queer - just another way in which he would have disappointed his family.
As far as ships go, Iâm def wolfstar trash. They were my first real ship and I love them to pieces. That being said, Sirius/Chemistry is my #1 jam. The only thing is that he isnât always into serious relationships unless heâs good friends with the person first. In my headcanon, heâs never had a real, serious relationship (although every relationship is most certainly a Sirius one, lmao), but he doesnât feel wanting, necessarily. Relationships arenât exactly a priority right now when there are bigger things to worry about.
EXTRAS
&;;ââ PERSONALITY TRAITS (tw: alcohol, mentioned violence/blood)
â Funny ââ- âDid you like question ten, Moony?â
He is barking laughter and poorly timed jokes, puns upon puns - seriously. A grin as wide as the day is long, carefree and easy. Light in the black of war; white sheep in the Black family. His good humor has covered him and carried him through all that heâs seen. Itâs as much a shield for himself as it is those with whom he surrounds himself.
â Loyal | Loving ââ- âDied rather than betray your friends, as we would have done for you!â
He is fierce, heart full for those he holds dear. Not many are kept that close, but there is no hesitation when asked to give his life. Warmth and comfort, in the crook of his smile and the corners of his eyes. Brilliance and steadfast companionship: a dog is manâs best friend.
â/â Strong-minded | Judgemental ââ- âBesides, the world isnât split into good people and Death Eaters. Weâve all got both light and dark inside us.â
He is a tree rooted to the earth, tall and proud. Unmoving and firm against the hailing storm. Beliefs, unwavering, unwilling to hear. Opposition is wrong, and he knows it as well as he knows the stories written in the night sky. He is strong-willed and stubborn; a brick wall would be more receptive. He thinks himself open-minded, but it is only another belief.
â Doesnât think through consequences ââ- âWhat is life without a little risk?â
He is snap decisions made in the heat of the moment. Turbulent and emotional, judgement shifts as easily as debris caught in the tide. Words, biting, leaving scars as easily as laughter erases them from his mind. Passing thoughts in an endless stream of chaos - why waste time paying mind to outcomes when you can just act?
â Hellacious attitude ââ- âThere are things worth dying for!â
He is 2 am, leather, and a mess of discarded liquor bottles scattered about the floor. Blood-kissed knuckles and knuckle-kissed jaw. Smirks and sighs toppling from carved lips. Caught in a tempest, winds whipping his hair about his face, unable to see, blindly stumbling along, deafening roars threaten to consume him - one foot in front of the other. Raw magic crackling in the air, electricity against your skin; a beautiful sight when it implodes.
&;;ââ WAND: As badly as Sirius sometimes wishes his wand was made from Dogwood (think of the irony! the puns! the beauty of the universe!), he was chosen by a Cypress wood wand with a Dragon Heartstring core, 15 inches, rigid.
âCypress wands are associated with nobility. The great medieval wandmaker, Geraint Ollivander, wrote that he was always honoured to match a cypress wand, for he knew he was meeting a witch or wizard who would die a heroic death. Fortunately, in these less blood-thirsty times, the possessors of cypress wands are rarely called upon to lay down their lives, though doubtless many of them would do so if required. Wands of cypress find their soul mates among the brave, the bold and the self-sacrificing: those who are unafraid to confront the shadows in their own and othersâ natures.â
Sirius wonât think about the wandlore behind cypress wands and their masters dying a heroic death until the fleeting, infinite moment in which he begins to fall in the Department of Mysteries. He will think it ironic, then, that his death is hardly heroic at all; that, naturally, James and Lily had far more heroic deaths than him. (He will also think about finally, finally reuniting with them again, and he will think of how sorry he is for leaving Remus and Harry behind, but James, here I come.)
âAs a rule, dragon heartstrings produce wands with the most power, and which are capable of the most flamboyant spells. Dragon wands tend to learn more quickly than other types. While they can change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bond strongly with the current owner. The dragon wand tends to be easiest to turn to the Dark Arts, though it will not incline that way of its own accord. It is also the most prone of the three cores to accidents, being somewhat temperamental.â
It is of interest to note that dragon wands tend to be easily swayed towards the Dark Arts. Sirius thinks it should be noted, and then he will tell it to fuck right off, thank you very much. He knows that, had things gone just a little differently, he wouldnât have had any difficulty using Dark Magic; in fact, heâd have been rather adept at it. Sirius laughs at the notion - and would like to tell the Dark Lord that he can fuck right off, too.
Sirius is a very quick learner. He is intelligent and, when he puts his mind to a task, he is able to stay determined and focused. Magic runs strong in his veins, so itâs only natural he be paired with a wand that is able to keep up with him and his raw power. That being said, however, Siriusâ magic is - too often - unpredictable. It has been since he was a child, and he still experiences outbursts of unintentional magic when his emotions get the better of him; the dragon wand nurtures his accidental magic, at times.
&;;ââ PATRONUS: Itâs commonplace that a Patronus will match a witch or wizardâs Animagus form, if they happen to be such, and Sirius is no exception. His Patronus takes the form of a dog, matching that of his Animagus counterpart: a bear-like German Shepherd. German Shepherds are known for being intelligent, loyal, and fiercely over-protective. Any close friend of his would attest to the fact that Sirius exemplifies those qualities. He is a bright wizard, and he would do anything for those he cares about.
&;;ââ The best thing that has ever happened: âI know that you will make us proud, Sirius.â
No one ever expected Sirius to be a Gryffindor; he certainly hadnât when he had stepped up to the stool to be sorted his first year at Hogwarts. His entire family had come from Slytherin. He even knew that, somewhere in his lineage, he was related to Salazar Slytherin himself. But as Siriusâ attention had drifted to the far table of green and silver, he had felt a tug in his stomach that he hadnât really understood.
âŠ.âGRYFFINDOR!â
He ignored the shouts and jests coming from the Slytherin table to rightfully take his place amongst the lions of Hogwarts. He was joined, thankfully, by James and the redhead he had met with the greasy boy (he was grateful - and always would be - that the greasy one ended up in Slytherin).
It wasnât before he was whisked away to his dorm and he got to know his fellow dormmates: one sickly-looking boy named Remus and a short, ordinary boy named Peter. Sirius thought he could do without Remus and Peter. Who needed them when he had James, his best friend? But Remus and Peter did prove themselves when they turned the greasy boyâs hair a bright shade of pink for a week. That, Sirius decided, was enough to earn his respect.
The four of them quickly became inseparable, and Sirius decided that being a Lion was worth the consequent Howlers he received, even if meant returning from the Christmas hols with bruises hidden beneath scratchy sweaters.
&;;ââ And the worst: âBlood traitor! Filth! Scum!â
He tried not to cry out as he was punished him one final time for being an insolent disgrace; he wouldnât give them the pleasure. He was worse for the wear, however, when they finished with him and sent him off to think about his disobedience. Again. Sirius sat, on the edge of his bed, trembling; it was out of his control. He thought, but it didnât take long for him to realize what he must do.
He needed to leave.
He hastily threw what belongings he could into his school trunk, gathering up anything he deemed important. He was able to perform a simple expansion and levitation charm - he decided he could deal with the Ministry later - and led his trunk out of his room. But he knew he needed to stop at his brotherâs room before he left.
Sirius loved his brother and he has always loved his brother, but Regulus was not like him. He was weak-minded and bent to the wishes of their parents. Sirius always wanted to keep Regulus safe from them, from Mother, but he went to school and was sorted into Gryffindor and it changed. He became the disgrace, and it had been up to Regulus to be the perfect son. Sirius never wanted that for him, and he didnât want that for him now. So he tried to bring Regulus with him. He wanted to ask, wanted him to leave and escape the hell they had grown up in.
But Regulus didnât leave with him. He wasnât like Sirius. He was an idiot, and he didnât leave. So Sirius goes. But not before he watched as his mother blasted his name from the family tree.
(Sirius still regrets not making Regulus leave with him.)
&;;ââ AESTHETICS here [x] and here [x]
&;;ââ PLOT POINTS Â Â ~ I really want to explore the conflict that Sirius is facing between his loyalty to his friends and his allegiance to Aversio. He very, very strongly believes that the Order isnât doing enough, but he knows that a lot of Aversioâs tactics and such clash with the Order. He knows that there are many friends and allies that would look down on his involvement in the group, and he loathes to disappoint them. But Sirius is firm in his convictions. He isnât one to waver in his decisions, and he truly believes that Aversio is the action the world needs. Again, however, that contradicts his closest friends, and I want to explore how Sirius reacts in such a situation. I want to push his loyalty to the limits and see what he does when it really comes down to it.
~ Â On the same note, I would love to have some of his closer friends find out about his involvement in the rogue organization. I feel like I know Sirius fairly well, but I honestly donât know how he would react in such a situation that calls to question where his loyalties truly lie. I think it would be an interesting bit of character development to really put the pressure on him like that.
~  Sirius has a dark side, whether he would like to admit to it or not. Itâs part of who he is, so deeply ingrained in his being that he doesnât recognize it in the slightest. But itâs there. War tends to bring out the worst in people, and I want it to do so to Sirius. I want to mess him up, to play with his mind and pit him against himself until he no longer knows what he is or where he stands. I want to dive into the more psychological aspects of the affect of the war, especially since this is full AU now. If he doesnât end up getting messed up in Azkaban, I have to mess him up somehow  =)
IN CHARACTER QUESTIONNAIRE
â If you were able to invent one spell, potion, or charm, what would it do, what would you use it for or how would you use it? Feel free to name it: âSâpose Iâd make one thatâd be able to track the greater London area,â Sirius answers with a smirk, wand twirling between slender fingers. He shifts, eyebrows flashing. âYâknow, something along the lines of magical cartography, butâŠbig. Large scale. Easy spell, Iâd imagine, if you could figure out the scale.â If they put their minds to it, Sirius is sure he, James, Remus, and Peter could come up with something. âBe able to locate anyone anywhere in all of London just by looking at a map. Imagine how bloody brilliant itâd be!â
â You have to venture deep into the Forbidden Forest one night. Pick one other character and one object (muggle or magical), besides your wand, that youâd want with you: âJames, Remus, and Peter. Package deal, yeah?â He quirks a brow. âProbably bring Jamesâ cloak - usually do. Itâs a bloody miracle, that thing. Gotten us outta loads of trouble over the years.â
â What kinds of decisions are the most difficult for you to make? Sirius grins, back straightening - pride rolling off square shoulders. âWell thought out ones. Thatâs what Iâm told, anyhow. Iâm better at the quick ones, the real difficult ones.â
â What is one thing you would never want said about you? He hesitates, smile faltering - though he catches it, corrects it before it can be noticed (he hopes). âI dunno,â he says, gaze averted, a shoulder shrugging. A pause. A flash of an image behind his eyes - his friends, hollow-eyed, telling him that heâs a Black, through and through, just like them, can never escape it, terrible awful cruel heartless Black. âThat Iâm like them. Because Iâm not. Iâm so much better than they are.â
REACTION TO LAST EVENT DROP
Okay so, I really love that the last plot drop has some conflict between Sirius and those heâs closest to. Itâs about time for things to come to a head with him and his juxtaposed involvement in the two groups, and I think heâs about ready to begin the process of separating himself from the Order and their non-action. It will also be really interesting to throw him into another party that resonates so closely to him, but under the guise of not himself. I think, with how things have been playing out in his mind in regards to the war, that it could be very interesting to see how well heâs able to keep himself under control and not make rash decisions when it comes to being in the middle of the Death Eaters and their little party.
WRITING SAMPLE
(this is from an old post on here, i hope thatâs okay! iâm just hella fond of this one, tbh)
In his youth, when the sky had appeared infinitely brighter and the days seemingly endless, when everywhere could bring forth a new adventure with little to no warning, when the silken tendrils of optimism wound around his body, weaving between pale fingers, toes - gently cradling and protecting; then, Knockturn Alley had not frightened him. But he had been young, naive. He hadnât known the manner of the witches and wizards who frequented the cobbled street and dark, slanted buildings. They had towered over him, then, and he had stared back, challenging whatever authority they wordlessly claimed. He had challenged the world.
But, as it so often is, childhood naivety gave way to harsh truths, and accompanying his father to Knockturn Alley no longer offered boundless adventure. Instead, he saw the buildings for what they were, the witches and wizards as the cruel people they had always been. He saw the shadowed sky, tucked away behind pointed rooftops, and just how unlike its neighbor, Diagon Alley, it was. The Alley was no place for decent witches or wizards, which was why he supposed the Blacks held such fondness for it.
Now, Sirius had no need to traverse the uneven, dismal avenue, and yet⊠here he was. Hands stuffed into pockets, fist firm around his wand, Sirius averted his eyes, silently cursing the bloody wanker who had volunteered him for this bloody âmission,â although he was loath to describe it as such. Inquire about such and such item at some shoddy shite-hole shop, speaking only to Git McWanker blah, blah, blah. It was a fucking waste of time, was what it was.
Yet, here he was, pointedly staring at books on a shelf in some corner of Knockturn Alley - many of which he recognized as titles from the walls of the Black family library. They dredge up images of the study and lessons and evenings spent pouring over texts he had no care for, all in the name of properly educating the heir, or some bollocks. He almost scoffed at the thought, adjusting his jacket as he eyed the shopkeeper. Feign interest, then approach him for information; it was a decent enough plan, but Sirius was stopped in his tracks by the woman that rounded the corner.
Eyes locked, drinking up the vision before him - something out of a dream, a nightmare - and he was suddenly eight beneath her gaze, frightened and angry and improper, insolent, yet again. Hands balled at his sides, shoulders tense, and he resisted the visceral pull to back away, run away, get away from her. Instead, his jaw set and he held her gaze - challenging her command over him, because she now had none.
âItâs comforting to know that some things never change,â he remarked brazenly, determination settling squarely atop his shoulders. âSeeing you here, I mean. Of all places. Picking up a new addition to the library, hmm? Perhaps a copy of Magick Moste Pure: Grimoire of Pureblood Fuckery? I hear thatâs been selling quite nicely with your crowd.â He sneered, arms crossing over his chest - tight. âOughta be careful who sees you walking around with that shite. Hear the Ministryâs got eyes and ears everywhere these days. Youâd hate to be caught up in all that, now, wouldnât you, Mother?â The word was spat, harsh and mocking; she was nothing to him now.

warning, the following has mainly snarky (and possibly furious) opinions on Spirit of Justice. Reader discretion is advised.
Trucy, you donât need to take sides. Thereâs one side. The truth. And both Apollo and Phoenix are on that side.
Theyâre not at the same bench but theyâre on the same team. Itâs gonna be ok.
-
âIâm sorry too, little lady! this is all my fault..â
Oh so trucy gets an apology, but not Apollo? cool cool whateverÂ
-
Trucy, if Phoenix and Apollo become bitter enemies over a property dispute then they werenât really all that close to begin with.
-
Dhurke: invalides trucyâs feelings while simultaneously spouting more of his Manly Man shit
-
âone minute weâre trading blows, and the next, weâre having drinks togetherâ
well if thatâs his mentality i can see why he thinks its ok do be an utter fuckwad to everyone
-
âWeâre simple creatures at heart! Hah-hahahaha!â
yes... men are so simple at heart... theyâre just a bunch of neanderthals... thanks Dhurke, truly you are the way to the future.
-
To be honest, I am glad that this is a civil case. When I first saw the publicity I was sure theyâd made Phoenix a prosecutor for no reason and I was furious.
Iâm not super glad at the way things turned out but at least the bullshit counter didnât go into the red and explode.
Phew. Iâm actually sighing in relief here. Maybe I can pretend what follows is all a friendly game or something.
-
Aww; poor Judgeyâs confused :(

...they seriously donât need to have a falling out to be on the opposite side of a courtroom. Lawyers face each other all the time.Â
They donât have to hate each other, they just have to keep things professional, otherwise theyâd cause a conflict of interest. Like... itâs not ideal but tbh itâs more a danger to their clients than each other.
-
Yâknow, Iâm gonna dare to be optimistic here; as much as I hate this storyline and most people in it, this is actually an interesting and character-developing scenario.
Apollo has to face off against his mentor, the guy who... well Iâd say Kristoph taught him all his tricks, but Phoenix was a sort of moral guiding force, I guess. Apollo standing up and holding his own against a superior is a legitimate way to show that heâs come into his own. Plus, since itâs not framed in a negative light (or at least, it shouldnât be) itâs more impactful than phoenix being straight up evil since that would make it easy to take him down. This is a contest between two people who simply happen to be on opposite sides of the chess board. Again, itâs a pretty legit way to show Apolloâs growth.
...that said, I just wish it wasnât happening after zero character build up and a heaping serving of bullshit. :T
Oh well. At least they got something right.
-
it is pretty hilarious how much theyâre trying to up the drama though. itâs not that deep, guys
-
I guess Atishon just doesnât have legsÂ
[snerk] his shitty speeches are actually kinda funny. ...if a little cliché.
-
...heâs standing... but I'm still not ruling out that heâs legless...
-
Tbh, even though Atishon is clearly lying, the fact that Datz basically threatened the orb out of Buff does make this kind of in their favour.Â
-
...Apollo, donât overcomplicate the case. All you have to do is prove that itâs not the crystal and you can have it.Â
-
Reasons Apollo would make a good rebel: He doesnât blab his rebelness all over the place for no reason.
-
SEXY PAN UP SHOT FOR MS. SKYE
nice ankles, ms skye.
-
âEma..?â
âUse some manners, weâre in courtâ
thats not the way you acted the last time you were called as his witness :/
-
whoa seriously whats with the sudden crazy 180 for Ema? Yeah, sheâs grumpy, but suddenly sheâs acting like Apolloâs some rude little shit off the street. Why is she upset that heâs going up against Phoenix? Why does he need to apologize? JUST BEING ON OPPOSITE ENDS OF THE COUTROOM DOESNâT MAKE YOU ENEMIES.
or did the SOJ team forget the lessons we learned in the triloââ oh who am i kidding theyâve never even laid eyes on those.
-
âYouâll never get the job done with that attitude. Take it from someone whoâs been thereâ Been where???? Been where, Ema?????? what the fuck are you talking about what is going onÂ
-
haha the fey statue and the urn were âstolenâ, huh? yeah. stolen from a better game.
-
pfft. So Buffâs some Kaitou Kid type, huh?
-
yâknow ive been neglecting to mention it but have you noticed how much they skimp on animation compared to DD? DD had like 20 tiny animated cutscenes, and SOJ has one lame one at the beginning of each case to set it up. I canât believe they even slashed the animation budget.
-
has anyone noticed how unfocused 3D phoenix looks. he looks like heâs just. staring out into space.
-
i love they donât use gendered pronouns to refer to Buffâs kid. Remember the last time they did that? Mr. Andrews......
-
âI was shocked to see the urn that came from Kurain in Kurainâ
anyway quit referencing actually good games, SOJ. Back to the shame corner for you.
-
oh COME ON. How do you steal a fucking wall relief?!Â
and he really couldnât just get a fucking permit? what the fuck is this
-
âbut good intentions are no get-out-of-jail-free-cardâ
they are a sentence-lightening card, though! either way, this is one of the things i like most about AA. No matter how good your intentions were you still dont get away with cold-blooded murder.Â
OR KIDNAPPING, AURA. HAVE FUN IN JAIL YOU SHITTY EXCUSE FOR LESBIAN REPRESENTATION.
-
every single theft of an artifact can be attributed to Dr. Buff. every single one.
-
alright, so weâre back to that whole âmissing object reportâ. Thing is, unless there really IS a Crystal of Ami Fey, this wouldnât work out. Atishon has to provide evidence that he owned the item, or that it existed in the first place. If this crystal turns out to be made up Iâm gonna pitch a fuckin fit.
Donât disappoint me, SOJ.
-
âWimpersonâ
ah, SOJ, with all the comedic genius of a third-grader.
...to be fair i could say the same about Larry but i like larry and AA1. and it also plays into his phrase-thingy!
-
seriously. gimme pics of the crystal or weâre gonna have some serious problems.
-
âSo how do you know this item is the thing heâs looking forâ
âhe said soâ
THATS. NOT EVIDENCE.Â
-
oh judge, your oldness never ceases to be to be enjoyableÂ
(that wasnât sarcasm btw i love that dumb running gag)
-
seeing phoenix scream from the opposite side of the table is very enjoyable. just because i love seeing phoenix scream but also like having that scream not mean something bad for my case.Â
i get to have my cake and eat it too! <3
-
um i dont think you can put dashes in email addresses.
-
âDonât tell me!â
âOh, but I will anyway.â
I love Apollo so, so much.
-
so you looked far enough into this that you tried to hack his computer but youâll accept âits mine cause i said soâ as concrete proof of something??
-
âMaybe the recipient of the email was a dog lover!â
he might be on the other side with the kid gloves off but phoenix is still Phoenix âa baseball also has stitchesâ Wright.
-
fuck. he walks to the bench. he cant not have legs.
...but maybe........
-
what the fuck
Atishon has the same birthday as my dad
DISGUSTING
-
oh my god, seeing phoenix /sweating/ on the other side is even more surreal
-
i also love that everyones making âpoliticians are grossâ jokes willynilly but they all forget that theyâre Criminal Defence Lawyers
-
âThis is... Quite... a thing... youâve saidâ
I'm wheezing
this is turning out to be way funnier than i expected
please SOJ I'm having fun donât stop me now
-
i mean he has a point. if Atishon leant the item to Bluff to study that still means that Atishon owned it in the first place.
HOWEVER, WHERE THE FUCK IS THE PROOF OF THE ORIGINAL ITEM IN ANY WAY RESEMBLING WHAT WEâVE GOT HERE.
-
its so weird to see phoenix on the wrong side of the bench that i keep getting his voice wrong when i read him out loud. i keep making him sound deep and authoritative instead of... well, how he usually sounds.
-
âWell, grandchildren ARE meant to be spoiled... I mean, thatâs what grandfathers are for!â
judgeyyyyyyyyy
im crying
-
ema: can i fuck off now
-
âlets get more info on the crystalâ
FINALLY. thank you, athena.
-
NO, NOT ITS HISTORY, DAMNIT
PROVE THAT IT EXISTS AND YOU OWNED IT.
-
âback in the old countryâ
...england..?
-
pft i though his testimony said âThe Hilarious Historyâ instead of illustrious history and i was so ready
-
âhe protected the spirit mediums, a minority back then, from the rest of the localsâ
well thats a big fat lie because
A) Kurain village is build on mediums
B) no way the Fey clan would allow a male ruler
we could reaaaaaaaallly use some photo evidence, Atishon.
-
âOne Ives Shinetoâ
ok what the FUCK. where the hell are all the women?! HEY. SOJ TEAM. DID YOU EVEN GLANCE AT THE Â oh of course you didnt fuck meeeeeeeeee
also whats that pun
-
FFFF PHOENIX YA LIL SHIT
-
âThe transformation the mediums underwent when channeling spirits frightened the localsâ
i am glad to know changing your entire bone structure is as scary looking as it sounds. of course, i doubt people would be frightened for too long when they were talking to deceased loved ones.
-
i must say they did do a good job writing Atishonâs lines.
-
âThe Kurain channeling technique is known to have originated from Kooraheen, and Ami was said to travel there to trainâ
No, Ami invented the technique, and according to your backstory, she lived there first. Can you even keep your own facts straight?
I mean, apart from all this being bullshit and i hate it.
-
i legit cant believe it took THAT LONG for phoenix to point out the fact that the handover agreement was signed under duress.
that'd be like, the first thing i pointed out.Â
...ah, there it is. I knew this couldn't stay a happy little civil case for long. Here comes the murder.
Also, really Phoenix? You didnât bring up the fact that he might have been killed any earlier too?
-
Now that theyre bringing up the pile of books, I realize how ridiculous it is that there were so many of them on the ground. Pulling out one book might dislodge one or two next to it, but not the entire shelf. For the books to have fallen like that, they would have needed to have been shoved from the other side, or for the shelf to have listed forwards. neither of those things are possible. and nobody noticed this?!
i mean the only reason i didnt think about it was because i knew this was murder from the start.
-
Man, Phoenix, with all your âwith respect for the deadâ talk, it sure did take you a while to bring up the fact that you knew he was murdered and the police should probably be getting on that right now.
>edit: Actually I just realized how despicable that is; keeping the fact that this was murder secret just to use it later on as a quick bargaining chip in your civil case.
Hey capcom? You can screw up the series all you like but FUCK you for making Phoenix a skeezy piece of shit on par with the likes of von Karma. Because you know who else withholds information that sensitive for such a petty reason? MANFRED VON KARMA.Â
Fuck you, capcom, fuck you, fuck you, FUCK you.Â
-
âDid you forget who you were up against, Mr. Justice?â
All I do is hurl baseless accusations!!
-
wow the second this turned into murder i just got tired of this case. Also, Phoenix, you better back your butt back to your seat. Being a murder case, this requires a prosecutor... something that you are not.
-
theres AN AUTOPSY REPORT. WHY ISNT THIS A SEPARATE TRIAL. Â THIS SHOULD BE A SEPARATE TRIAL; THIS SHOULD BE BEING... TRIAL-ED IN ANOTHER COURTROOM. you can reference it, and use it as evidence, BUT YOU CANâT JUST COMBINE THEM.
Damnit, Capcom, I TOLD YOU NOT TO DISAPPOINT ME.
BUT YA JUST COULDNâT HELP IT, COULD YOU.
-
...Datz is in the gallery... But he was just in jaiââ fuck it whatever
-
ok now that this is a murder trial Atishonâs non-answers arenât funny anymore, theyre ANNOYING. I WANT THIS SHIT TO BE OVER AS FAST AS POSSIBLE. YAP ME A CONTRADICTION OR IâLL CRAM YOUR BELOVED PLAQUE UP YOUR POLITICALLY INEPT ASS.
-
âTry me, o lord of plebsâ
its been a long time since any meme-y type person has called someone else a pleb... please try to keep up, SOJ.
-
i love that phoenix, at the end of each statement, politely states âget the fuck on with it, asshatâ
-
why the fuck did heÂ
fall asleep what
OOO THE JUDGE YELLÂ
AW YEA
-
âWhat did I ever do to deserve this?â
you existed in the first place, Apollo. Iâm sorry.
-
No.............
I do not like that Phoenix used the phrase, âWitness, I think itâs time for you to come clean.â
You know who uses phrases like that.
Assholes.
-
âYou should know I always come fully prepared, Justice!â
( buy it, buy it, buy it, buy itââ)
-
...Right, so Phoenix isnât a prosecutor but he sure as hell has been doing a lot of prosecutorial things. Calling all the witnesses, explaining the case, etc.
Oh and he and and Atishon still didnât tell anybody that Buff was most likely murdered right off the bat so ffffffuck you capcomÂ
-
Fuck you, Datz. Stop laughing and fucking focus on the fact that youâve been accused of murder and itâs kinda tough on your olâ pal Apollâ oh wait silly me i forgot none of you give a rats ass about him. All you do is laugh and eat and sit around waiting for Sadmad to come home.
-
âBetter brace yourself, sonâ
Hey guess what Dad warranty expires if you havenât made or tried to make contact in 20 years so get that word out of your nasty mouth, Dhurke.
-
âWorried this might make a rift between you two...
...and that you might then leave the agencyâ
haha
âHahaha. She has an active imaginationâ
hahahah
hahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahhAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHA
-
â...Nothing a little persuasion couldnât handle.â
Capcom. If it was something douchey. I will tear you in half.
-
SEXY PAN UP SHOT FOR
robot guy
-
i remember when i used to be excited for each new case. now I'm just scared what new horrors the next will bring.
-
hang on why does the drone not have a special sound font? if it didnt disguise the operatorâs voice it would be kind of obvious who they were...
-
HOLY SHIT MISSILES
SO... THE WHOLEÂ âBOMBS IN THE COURTROOM ARE HORRIFIC THINGâ FROM DD IS JUST FORGOTTEN, HUH??
-
hang on.
âCapitalist pig; Iâll turn you into pork stroganoffâ
is âSargeâ legit Russian, then? That explains the âKomandirâ thing. Shit, I have to change my voice.
-
ok so Sarge is written with an American Sargent phonetic accent, but uses Russian rankings and seems to be communist. What am I missing???
-
âI guess he does dress like heâs in the military...â
hes a paratrooper!!! why dont you know that? i thought you grew up with him.
-
âThatâs true. Papa didnât keep our house locked up.â
...the... archeologist... with a house full of priceless treasures... didnât lock his fucking doors.
hey congrats for trusting the mediums and all but guess what? thats irresponsible as fuck and incredibly stupid for a supposed thief so I'm kinda surprised it took you this long to be discovered/bumped off.
-
those have got to be nerf bullets cause firing a GUN in court is just fucking ridiculous. like too far for Ace Attorney. Melee weapons, ok. Long range firearms? No.
...Though... Note to self... Next time, when creating parody prosecutor, you now have legit grounds to just give him a fucking gun........
-
âSorry, but Iâm afraid lawyers are missile-proof.â
Note to self. Upgrade gag prosecutor to missile launcher.
-
ooh, i see this drone is in the same vein as the Assassinâs Radio.
-
âCourtroom warriors donât use guns or missiles, because evidence is our weapon of choice!â
Ahah! THATS why prosecutors are so violent. They never have any evidence to back up their assertions so they just fuckin ASSAULT people.
-
i... had a little chuckle at âtruth bombâ
-
âWhatâs with him and Siberia of all places?â
Well context wise it seems he's some kind of... Defected-to-communist American?
-
Huh. Athenaâs powers must be based purely on sound waves then. Interesting.Â
Anyway, itâs mood matrix time! Hooray!!! Iâve warmed a lot to the Mood Matrix to be honest. I like the glowy lights.
-
Iâm gonna make a guess right now that something was on fire. Cause thats some PTSD shit right there.
-
pfft the gallery was so on board with their new judge overlord. Also thank goodness this is Ace Attorney and this shit is allowed to fly, cause youâd get your ass handed to you if you tried this in real court, pal.
-
Um, I wouldnât dig any deeper if sarge is still in such a state. Itâs not... safe. Either that or you best hope that thingâs bottomless magazine has run out. Plus, I love that whoeverâs watching over the actual Sarge in the Lobby hasnât tried to stop them when they noticed them SCREAMING AND PRESSING THEÂ âFIREâ BUTTON REPEATEDLY.
Or theyâve left Sarge unattended and the Dark Age of the law isn't over because it was an omnipresent thing to begin with...
-
its ok, game. contrary to what you think, you did write Sargeâs backstory in a memorable enough way for me to remember it up until now.
-
Huh.Â
HUH.
So... the person involved in writing Ace Attorney Investigations... Has written a sequence in which we must burn evidence to prove a point, huh?
:T
-
DONT YOU HINT AT ME, GAME
-
that solemn moment of reflection doesnât include Phoenix cause heâs over behind his desk bawling his eyes out
âIâLL BE YOUR NEW PAPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAâ
-
actually Athenaâs got a point. Her tragic backstory is much more similar to Sargeâs than Apolloâs. She can properly relate to losing oneâs last family member in a horrific way.
-
Sââ
Well, considering her age, Cutesie Pan-up shot for Armie.
-
Apolloâs having serious Robin Newman flashbacks right about now
-
ahhhhhhhhhh. her mom was Russian. It all makes sense. Tbh just for now, forgetting everything else, this kind of does feel like an old case. Iâm at peace... for now.
-
i guess itâs less of an orb and more of some kind of lantern then. Cause you canât really burn a crystal
unless its
whitcrystal
hahah
hahahahahahahhaha
-
so far I'm ranking the cases from best to worst: Magical, This part of Revolution, Foreign, Rite and Storyteller.Â
-
sgsjgsjsjjs athenaâs INTENSE LOOK OF HUNGER as Apollo burns the orb
âI wanna see me some sweet mama goddessâ
-
damn shit thats her face
thats uh
o
ohhhh
oh i see. I was wondering what the âgreat powerâ the orb could bestow upon people was, and now I realize that since it depicts her face, if someone knows her name, they could channel her. And since she's basically an actual goddess that would bestow some serious power.
not bad, not bad at all.
i know i highly dislike Kooraheen but i legit feel kinda blessed
-
âThe issue is crystal clearâ
*seals phoenixâs fate with a fucking pun*
-
dont keep saying âdid we just winâ before the verdict is handed down, you'll jinx it.
-
oh hey, blackmail. its like a perfect reenactment of Capcom getting Phoenix to sign onto this sequel.
-
Phoenix: According to the legend, once the founder returned... She would bestow spiritual power onto the person who solved the riddle.
Apollo: ...Y-youre kidding, right?!
[Apollo looks flummoxed, the gallery whispers. We cut back to Phoenixâs smirk, and thenâââ
???: Phoenix... Just give it up.
[Phoenix screams in shock. We pan back to Apollo......... Who now has D-Cup breasts and a very familiar face.]
/...i wish.
-
legit tho i cant believe he's trying to pull this. I'm cackling
this is the lawyeriest lawyer ploy ive ever seen
-
âWhatâs gotten into him?â
bad writing.
-
sdsgsdhjafhgj EVEN THE JUDGE IS CALLING BULLSHIT IM CRYI
-
(sigh) i guess weâre really gonna have to finish this, arenât we. oh well. on we go! letâs forge ahead!
-
yâknow i just remembered that Pearl appeared like, once in this. Was that her only part? I guess she just existed to remind us that Kurain village used to have girls in it.
-
noooooooo fuuuuuuuuuuck
i really hope the contradiction doesnât require pressing because i aint sitting thru this fuckâs antics again.
-
it has rounded corners.
and its huge.
-
phoenix and apolloâs objections are too similar, i can never tell whoâs screaming.
-
âThere haven't been many murders there, I take itâ
well........ not âmanyâ
-
i love that Atishon pledges to banish murdeer from Kurain village and Apollo is all âyea good luck with thatâ like Murder is inevitable, even in a tiny village like Kurain.
Thats. kinda terrifying.
...though considering the way Kurain is...
-
i cant tell phoenix and apolloâs voices apart (sigh)
i never know whose objectingÂ
-
Phoenix: my client couldn't have viewed the murder directly from where he said he was, but the fact remains that he had inside knowledge of said crime!
...phoenix, youâre just trying to help apollo along, right? you didnt seriously believe that that sounded positive to your case, instead of Shady as Fuck, right??
-
âYou talk big, Mr. Justice, but do you have what it takes?â
he just finished telling Phoenix he was about to put what Phoenix taught him into practice. Phoenix should be swallowing a lump in his throat and trying not to cry of pride right now.
-
âthat suitcase could be a weapon anyone could use!â
yeah... yeah! even someone in a wheelchair!! oh wait wrong case.
..........but we still have someone in a wheelchair
-
a 3D crimscene view
haven't seen that shit since AAAJ
-
âTHAT SHITSTAIN ON THE BOOK PROVES HE WAS HAVIN THE COFFEE SQUIRTS, CASE CLOSED BOYSâ
sorry i just felt like being vulgar
-
âand there it is, the final excuse cornered killers are so fond ofâ
holy shit
i love apollo
-
phoenix shut up please, just shut up
let it end
let me rest
-
oh wait
ah here we go.
-
âhes a bright young politician with a future ahead of him, its in our nations best interests to avoid burdening him with the taint of scandalâ
hey, uh Enshiro
ill never forgive you for putting those words in Phoenix Wrightâs mouth
-
âLawyer! Do something! Or a bad thing will happen to âherâ!â
no? nobody else heard that incredibly obvious threat? nobodys gonna
âwhats he talking about? well, i can ponder that later. for now...â
FUCK
YOU
DO YOU HAVE A BRAIN THAT IS CONNECTED TO YOUR FUCKING EARS?!
HOW THICK HEADED DO YOU HAVE TO FFUCKING BE TO NOT RECOGNIZE A GODDAMN THREAT WHEN YOU HEAR ONE YOUÂ
YOU
YOU PUTRID PICKLED RED PEPPER?!?!??!?!
-
Athena: oh yeah i also heard Atishon making blatant threats at Phoenix but meh, phoenix made me pinky swear not to tell.Â
Iâm not shitting a lung in fury, Iâm just getting rid of an organ i dont need through the nearest available passage. Iâm perfectly calm and not cursing this game, Eshiro and his entire team to the pits of their own stupid made up hell.
-
âI had no idea. This mustâve been excruciating for him.â
i wanted to write a sarcastic jingle but i had trouble coming up with rhymes, so the blunt bottom line is:
when youâre not good at writing, simply steal clever and impactful plots from previous iterations so that youâll seem clever and exciting
i mean
nobody even remembers Farewell my Turnabout anymore, right????
-
what the fuck is his deal with being king
-
OH SHUT UP DURKEÂ
GO FUCK YOURSELF
think youre gonna steal Franziska and Miaâs thunder????????????? no
you arenât a fucking fraction of an inch as cool as either of them.
-
âheâs saved my neck so many timesâ
w
when
-
âwhere thereâs a will, thereâs a wayâ
how about where theres a whip, theres a better game?
-
âwait................... maybe we can summon the founder now that we can see her face??â
aww. you got there in the end, didnt you apollo.
-
...that doesnt automatically spare Mayaâs life. Pearl is also a spirit medium. And iâm fairly certain there are otherââ oh wait SOJ retconned that neverMIND
anyway, Atishon could still bump Maya off and then force Pearl to channel Mamma Kooraheen
-
OH MY GOD HE JUST BROUGHT UP PEARL
WHY PEOPLE ARE SO STUPIDÂ
-
WIMPERSON BROUGHT UP PEARL
THE IDIOT VILLAIN BROUGHT UP THE FLAW IN YOUR BRILLIANT PLANÂ
GSEGFISGUILSGIULSGUI;SRHG
-
âpearl wouldn't help you if anything happened to mayaâ
um. you morons think heâd politely ask her to help??? he's already kidnapped someone and threatened their death?? he and his founder aren't above torture or blackmail????????????
you FUCKING MORONS
-
why even bother resigning? just do what you did before and let him go to jail.
-
...thisâd better just be a lead up to his breakdown animationÂ
-
YOU COCKSUCKING FUCKSTAINS JUST END IT ALREADY
END IT END IT END IT EDN TI EDNEI HDFI HSRLG SIHFLIHIR HF;LIVHLSIRHIGHISRHOVGLORIHâWIâHSGOIâWSGZIHSI
-
âif only you'd been smart enough to kill the girl, too...â
wow
-
...what the fuck
well that was... interesting.
-
i cant even celebrate Phoenix congratulating Apollo, I'm just so tired
there are like 85 sarcastic remarks i could make but I'm just so exhaustedÂ
-
yay we got the orb
dootdootdoot dootdootdoot
-
even the judge doesnt want to have anything more to do with this.
im right there with ya judgey
-
âAll I can say is, thats my boy!â
NO, YOU DONT GET TO CLAIM PARENTAL PRIDE OF THIS KID
HES NOT YOUR BOY
YOU BARELY RAISED HIM
GO HOME AND DO YOUR SHITTY COUP
-
âStill, its kinda nice to be appreciatedâ
if only you actually were, Apollo
-
yeah, thought so... ill bet they dont even channel her. cop out.
âtsk, thats no funâ indeed, trucy
-
i love how nobodys like âOK WHEREâS MAYA??? IS SHE OK???â
its fine her whereabouts are unknown and the last info on her was just that her life was in danger
pfffff
-
its alright, Armie has a place at the WAOÂ
-
"i knew if i admitted i could walk, id have to leave the houseâ
uh honey newsflash: you can leave the house in a wheelchair too. I'm pretty sure your dad would let you stay inside anyway
-
christ how fucking corny can you get. I CAN WALK AGAIN. why dont we just have Tiny Tim in here throwing away his crutch and dancing a fucking jig
-

Welcome (again) to the Order of the Phoenix, Gracie!
You have been accepted for the role of ALICE LONGBOTTOM! We really enjoyed your application for Alice! We loved the personality section and the discussion of Aliceâs worldview weaved throughout. Definitely looking forward to see how her black-and-white thinking will play out in the Order!Â
Please take a look at the new member checklist and send in your account within 24 hours! Thank you for joining the fight against Voldemort!
OUT OF CHARACTER:
NAME: Gracie
AGE: 21
TIMEZONE: EST
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Iâm in my fourth year of college, and Iâve managed to be a part of tumblr rpgs my entire college career, so Iâm quite good at balancing my IRL responsibilities with managing replies and all the fun stuff. If I had to put it on a scale of 1-10, probably like a 7, 7.5. I usually know well enough in advance when Iâm going to have some tough schedules so I can work around it or ask for a brief hiatus.
ANYTHING ELSE: No triggers or squicks to note, but Iâll let you know if that changes.
CHARACTER DETAILS:
NAME: Alice Aurelia Longbottom (née Edgecombe)
AGE: 33
GENDER, PRONOUNS, and SEXUALITY: Female, She/Her, heterosexual
BLOOD STATUS: Pureblood
HOUSE ALUMNI: Slytherin
ANY CHANGES: Nope! Love everything! <3
CHARACTER BACKGROUND:
PERSONALITY:
Thereâs something interesting about being caught in the middle. It forces a person to think, rather than to just pass by.
Thatâs where the Edgecombe family had always been. Not quite so lofty as to be a part of the Sacred 28, but still, a perfectly respectable pureblooded family. They never really stood out. That was, until Alice.
Unlike her older brother Frederick (or Freddie to his friends), Alice was always quick to question something. Why was the sky blue? Why was her name Alice? Why could they perform such amazing acts of magic, while muggles lived their whole lives without it? She could always be found digging through her fatherâs study for the answers or climbing to the tallest tree or digging up the garden to see if she could figure out some of the answers for herself. Â
In school, she had a bit of a reputation as a know-it-all. But not your typical know-it-all. She never insisted on interjecting into every class, every conversation; No, no Alice wasnât at all like that. It wasnât that she talked very much. Alice would only speak when she had something to say. She was very quick to correct you if she thought you were wrong and could verbally cite all the reasons why. Needless to say, this didnât help her make any friends. If someone asked her a question, she almost always had the answer and then some. If she didnât have the answer for you, you could rest assured that after an evening in the library, sheâd basically be an expert on it and could tell you just about anything youâd want to know. The thirst for knowledge was relentless. She wanted so desperately to understand everything, and whatever Alice wanted, Alice would get.
Alice is a perfect balance of soft and tough. Sheâs like the soft beauty of fresh snowfall mixed with the sharp bite that whips in the winter wind. Being raised as the proper daughter of a pureblood family, she could play the part of the polite, soft spoken, and quite witch. However, she never bothered to hide the wit and charm that crackled in everything she did and said. Sheâs poised, and at times quite cunning, but never, never cruel or harsh. Sheâs quite captivating, though she never wants to be the center of attention. At her core, sheâs kind, and sheâs sturdy. Sheâs also stubborn as anything. As such, itâs very difficult getting through to her when she believes something.
Her world view is one of black and white. There arenât any shades of grey. There is only right and wrong. In Aliceâs mind, the laws are there to protect everyone- to keep everything and everyone in the right. By breaking the laws- even bending it, could spell out something disastrous. Her world view is why becoming an auror seemed like such a natural fit for her. She could make things right, and she could solve problems. She could see something wrong, look for the pieces of the puzzle and reassemble them to find the answer.
Alice is kind of like a pointillism picture. From up close, thereâs nothing that seems to stand out. Just another dot on a canvas- one in a million. But upon further inspection, and a different perspective, sheâs remarkable. She could be the center of attention, if she didnât prefer to hide in plain sight. She liked being considered average. It drew less attention to her, and it made it even more satisfying to surprise people when their assumptions proved to be wrong.
But pictures arenât always pretty.
The clever, calculated nature of the way her mind works means that some people tend to consider her cold, or unfeeling. The know-it-all wound up separating herself from pleasantries and conversation, as people never seemed to like to talk with her. Alice is incredibly blunt and doesnât sugar coat things. Facts are facts, and thereâs no point in making things seem like they arenât all that bad when they are exactly as bad as they look. In this way, Alice is her own worst enemy. No matter how hard she tries to make friends, to get people close enough to her so that they might begin to understand her, she says something harsh, or doesnât let emotions influence her response. Then itâs just one more person who finds her completely intolerable.
Thereâs also the fact that she was in Slytherin. While being in Slytherin doesnât automatically stain you with certain irredeemable qualities and brand you forever as a dark wizard, it does sometimes create situations where youâre surrounded by people who tend to agree with the sentiments of dark wizards. Being surrounded by these ideas for seven years of her life, hearing the whispers in the halls and the common room conversations, she learned to think like them. Part of these experiences are what helped her to the top of her field. The other part allowed her to work as they do- to be manipulative, to toy with people. These are aspects of herself that Alice hates the most and would love to see disappear. However, they are a part of who she is, and she will still slip into old habits from time to time when these undesirable qualities are called for in whatever task is at hand. And sometimes, even when they arenât called for. Sometimes itâs just a subtle comment on something, but this controlling aspect of her will rear its ugly head from time to time. Â
Alice is a force to be reckoned with. She knows what it is she wants, and she will get it. She knew she wanted to make her family proud. So, she did as she was told, sat straight, acted the proper lady. She still bites her tongue around them rather than tell them how she really feels. Once she knew she wanted to become an auror, to protect those who couldnât protect themselves, she worked hard and got it. She wanted Frank, and she got him too⊠But now sheâs not so sure he wants her too. Heâs grown so distant.
BRIEF OVERVIEW OF FAMILY:Â
Aliceâs family isnât exactly easy. Her mother, Cordelia, is the definition of a mother hen. Constantly fluffing and preening and just ever-so-slightly overbearing. It took years, and a muggle book from a Hogwarts friend, to realize that her mother is Mrs. Bennet from Pride and Prejudice- to a T. While she would probably never utter it allowed, Aliceâs mother wanted desperately for her daughter to marry up in pureblood society. She was positively thrilled when Alice brought Frank home for dinner. But thatâs not to say the woman doesnât care about Alice. Sheâs incredibly proud of her daughter and her accomplishments. In polite society, she gushes endlessly about her Alice, the auror, who managed to snag THE Frank Longbottom.
Alice is more like her father, Atticus, than anything. The man is quiet. While he doesnât say much, his mind is always working, always playing some elaborate game of chess with the world, a game that he will inevitably win. He taught Alice to think before she speaks. To always have a plan, all the way from A to Z- just in case something was to go wrong. Alice was always much closer to him than to her father. He just seemed to understand her better than her mother. The clucking and fussing and frills were nice, but Alice needed time away from all that noise to function. Sheâd much rather be hiding in her fatherâs study, in silence but never alone. Thatâs not to say it was always quiet. The battles of wits between these two were legendary- itâs better to never bring up politics around them unless youâre willing to listen to a very well mannered, but absolutely scathing debate.
Freddie had been her best friend and confidant growing up. Sheâd constantly pester her big brother for the answers to her innumerable questions that swirled around her head. He was always more of a âmamaâs boyâ though. Always looking to stay in the womanâs good graces and do as he was told.
Now, itâs quite difficult. Cordelia and Atticus are both inclined to stay in the graces of pureblood society. Instead of speaking up, they bow their heads, turn a blind eye. To agree that perhaps Lord Voldemort isnât all that bad and that everyoneâs just blowing it out of proportion. Freddie, never one to question his parents, is following blindly along with them.  Alice is forced to watch silently as her family slowly aligns with something she views as truly, and irredeemably wrong.
OCCUPATIONÂ
Alice is an auror. Alice is bright. She knows the spells to use, she knows the laws, the protocols to follow. But itâs not just that that makes her such an excellent fit for the job. The ability to think quickly, to solve the problem in front of her efficiently and effectively, was the key to her success. She had a clear mind in the face of danger, which helped to make her one of the best duelists in the business. She and Frank had been nearly unbeatable. But something is off with them, and itâs throwing off their dueling, and itâs throwing Alice off her whole work game.
ROLE WITHIN THE ORDER/THOUGHTS ABOUT THE ORDER:
Alice is in the inner-circle of the Order. She was there to provide a level head and a ministry insight into what was going on politically. Sheâs there to try to keep everyone safe and protected. At first, the work she was doing with the Order was right. They were protecting the innocent and defenseless. But when things began to fall more and more into a legally grey area, Alice wasnât so certain anymore.
Sheâs known who she is and what she stood for her whole life. To be questioning something now is ground shaking. Watching as the younger Order members are more inclined to cause chaos that increases the panic within the community rather than focus on quickly, quietly, and legally helping the others and slowly dismantling the forces that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named is assembling is painful for her. Sheâs trying so desperately to show them that thereâs a better way of doing things. A safer way, for everyone involved. But they donât seem to want to listen.
Watching as Frank takes on more dangerous and legally questionable jobs from the Order has been causing a pit to form in her stomach. Not just because she adores him and would be inconsolable if anything were to ever happen to him, but also because the one thing she cares about most above all is beginning to exist on the fringe of the black area in her mind. In her world without a grey area, sheâs not sure what she can do. She knows she wonât turn on him or expose him, but then, what is she supposed to do here?
SURVIVAL:
The British âStiff Upper Lipâ defines how Alice gets by. Living in the Longbottom family house is a step up from the tiny Edgecombe household, and a very welcome change to the tiny London flat sheâd holed up in after Hogwarts as she was getting her start at the Ministry. Having copious amounts of floo-powder in the house always makes the commute to work a breeze.
More eyes are on her now than when she was younger. Marrying up meant that people paid marginally more attention to her, even more so as a respected auror. Sheâs forced herself to be very careful. She never talks of the Order in public. At work, if the group is mentioned, sheâs always the first to volunteer to investigate them. Better her than any of the other aurors. If it were anyone else, it was likely all their faces would be on the front page of the Daily Prophet, holding numbers across their chests and looking incredibly grim. Worse the end of her career, if she was discovered to be associated with the Order, it would almost definitely be certain death, now that so many of Lord Voldemortâs followers are also working in the Ministry. She can never be too careful with who she trusts.
RELATIONSHIPS:
While it may not seem like it from the surface, Alice is holding on for dear life with Frank. Theyâd always been a team in her mind. The two of them against the world. But now he wonât talk to her. Heâs been distant, and she barely recognizes him some days. The man sheâd married isnât whoâs sleeping beside her anymore, and she isnât sure where he went, or what she must do in order to bring him back. Itâs not as though she can talk to her family or work friends about the problem without exposing the Longbottomâs dirty little (illegal) secret to the entire wizarding world. She canât talk to anyone about it. She canât talk to Frank about it. Her parents cannot know that sheâs part of the Order, or else they could be in serious trouble. Not that sheâd even like to imagine it, but she knows thereâs a chance that they could turn on her and turn her in or inform someone in Voldemortâs ranks of just what the Longbottomâs are up to. She canât talk about it at work or risk exposing herself as a member of the Order. Alice is a cauldron of stress that is at risk of bubbling over. She needs a shoulder to cry on, or at least someone to vent to. Otherwise, Alice is going to explode.
Caradoc Dearborn is clever. Heâs got a good head on his shoulders. He knows how to think, and not just blindly stumble into things firing spells left and right. Heâs one of the reasons that she still has faith in the Order and what itâs doing, and why she hasnât withdrawn. She hopes he can help direct to Order into doing whatâs best for the entire wizarding community, without making a muck of every law and statute the wizarding world lives by. She canât imagine what itâs like to lose a parent, and sheâs sort of taken him under her wing as a younger sibling of sorts.
Mary MacDonald stresses Alice out more than anything. The girlâs completely all over the map. She flickers back and forth between whatâs right and whatâs wrong in Aliceâs view like a light bulb on the fritz. It doesnât make sense to her that one person can change her opinion on something a million times in a minute. In Aliceâs mind, maybe the girl changes her mind so much because she isnât sure what she believes. Or worse yet, she knows what she believes, and sheâs trying to take the whole Order down from the inside and take everyone along with it. She doesnât trust her as far as she can throw her.
OOC EXPLORATION:
SHIPS/ANTI-SHIPS: Alice x Frank, Alice x Chemistry
WHAT PRIVILEGES AND BIASES DOES YOUR CHARACTER HAVE?Â
Alice is very privileged. A pureblood witch who married into another pureblood family? A respectable Ministry job? Thatâs as good as it gets, as far as some in their community are concerned. But sheâs never been one to judge. In school, she enjoyed seeing the other half of the world. Sheâd trade books and music with muggle-born students, read as much as she could about everything- vampires, werewolves, shape shifters- everything. The unquenchable thirst to know all that there was out there provided her with the facts. But the facts, sheâs beginning to find, are often different than the reality.
The underlying prejudice with her still exists, as much as she tries to fight it. She listens to her family and questions whether they always thought that way. Whether or not she used to agree with them. She canât recall, and she hopes it wasnât so. But sometimes, watching as these youths who think theyâre changing the world by tearing it apart⊠She wonders just where they learned to think this way. Are they muggle ideas? I want her to try and better understand the struggles that others who arenât nearly as privileged as her face daily. To try and understand why some are, in her mind, so intent on blowing things up and starting again. To understand their struggle, so that maybe Alice can learn to think beyond whatâs black and white in the eyes of the law, and instead see whatâs morally and ethically the right thing to do. Perhaps this ability to better understand may help her to realize where her loyalties should truly lie in this war.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO?
Literally, everything. Alice Longbottom has always been my favorite of the Marauders era characters, as I feel like she can be interpreted a plethora of different ways, and I think that this interpretation of her may just be my favorite yet.
PLOT DROP IDEAS:Â Maybe an inspection of ministry workers, or something that could poke at whether theyâre involved in anything suspicious? Or a raid on Diagon Alley.
ANYTHING ELSE? Nope! <3 Mischief Managed!

Welcome to the Order of the Phoenix, Gracie!
You have been accepted for the role of EMMA VANITY,  with your requested faceclaim change to Danielle Campbell!  I really loved your application! I particularly enjoyed the personality section and how you mixed Emmaâs personality within her life story. I could tell through your application that you really understood both her character and motivations! I am so excited to have you as part of this roleplay!
Please take a look at the new member checklist and send in your account within 24 hours! Thank you for joining the fight against Voldemort!
OUT OF CHARACTER:
NAME: Gracie
AGE: 21
TIMEZONE: EST
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Iâm a college student so Iâm busy. Iâm also a music minor which means I have some night classes and rehearsals, but Iâve been balancing this stuff with rp for about four years now, so Iâm used to it. If I had to but a number on it, probably a 7.5/10
ANYTHING ELSE: no triggers or squicks to speak of but Iâll let you know if anything changes. Iâve been in a slew of different groups over the last four-ish years, ranging from everything to small town rps to 1920âs Paris, to a TON of HP Rpgs.
CHARACTER DETAILS:
NAME: Emma Georgianna Evanora Vanity. But itâs just Emma, if youâre a friend.
AGE: 18
GENDER, PRONOUNS, and SEXUALITY: Female, She/Hers, Heterosexual? Sheâs never really gotten to think about her sexuality. Her life had been mapped out for her long before sheâd even been able to form a coherent thought. Not only that but Emma has led an incredibly sheltered life. Sheâs never even thought about being with anyone except for Antonin Mulciber, so she just naturally assumed she was straight. Now that sheâs starting to live her own life and trying to figure out who she is instead of who sheâs expected to be, she might be open to exploring.
BLOOD STATUS: Pureblood
HOUSE ALUMNI: Slytherin
ANY CHANGES: Perhaps Danielle Campbell as a FC? She has a TON of resources, and I also feel like sheâd fit the same sort of âsweet good girlâ vibes that Haley Lu Richardson gives off.
CHARACTER BACKGROUND:
PERSONALITY:
Emmaâs only just really beginning to discover who she really is.
When Emma was very little, she was a spitfire. The young witch was a total handful. She would babble and squeal, running around the family home, terrorizing Mephistopheles- their pet Kneazle- by trying to stuff the poor creature into her dresses, or tying pretty bows around its lion-like tail. Life was good. And then she turned five.
On her fifth birthday, Emma learned several lessons from her mother. The first lesson she was taught, was that absolutely no one liked beastly little girls who badgered and pestered, who demanded endless answers to innumerable questions, who wanted to explore, to run, to fly! - No, that was nonsense and it absolutely would not do. The second was that should she continue to act as crazed and insane as those muggle youths, she would be punished. The third and final lesson was that the best, and only behavior befitting that of a pureblood young witch as herself was one of quiet compliance.
So that is what Emma became. She was quiet. Mephistopheles enjoyed the silence and retired from climbing the walls to avoid a game of dress-up with the young Miss Vanity. Instead, Emma kept quiet. She didnât think for herself. Instead, she learned to silently nod and agree with whatever her parents told her to believe. Her mother trained her well. She grew into the perfect example of the ideal pureblood daughter. Emmaâs mother called her a little doll. And after all, it was fitting, wasnât it? Emmaâs life was a long game of house that she wasnât in control of. She was just a toy- a pawn in an elaborate game of wizardâs chess.
By the time she got to Hogwarts when most children grew a tad rebellious, Emma remained quiet and obedient. She knew her place. Everyone knew Emmaâs place. She was meant to marry into the Mulciber family, to carry on the pureblood line for both families. She was meant to support Antonin in whatever he wanted or believed in. It was how it was.
Emma wasnât against her impending nuptials at all. In fact, she quite enjoyed the thought. It felt like something out of a story- Antonin would come and whisk her away and then⊠well, she wasnât quite sure what she would do then, but if she could make him happy, she would be happy too, wouldnât she? She loved him, after all. And he loved her. Why else would they get married?
She wasnât by any means a stellar student. Her grades were horrid. It wasnât that she wasnât smart (which drove her professors absolutely mental). Quite the opposite in fact. She was astoundingly clever. But she was far more focused on primping and preening, making sure that she was everything her mother expected of her, everything Antonin wanted of her, the perfect pureblood witch, the popular girl. Her days were a whirlwind of conversations with Antoninâs friends, chattering with the other pretty pureblooded Slytherin girls as they all marched mindlessly along, doing as theyâd been trained.
And Emma would have kept right on down that path, had Antonin not been killed.
Those she thought were her friends vanished. She had no prospects, no future. She was a widow before she was even a wife. She was of no more use to them. Emma didnât know what to feel. She didnât know if she could feel anymore.
The only thing she felt was lost.
She couldnât understand how sheâd gotten there. How sheâd been left without any friends, without anyone to hold her hand and tell her that it would all be okay. She didnât have good enough grades to turn herself around in time before graduating. Her future seemed impossibly bleak- even more so with the promise of moving back in with her parents for an endless life of silence and solitude. But then, amid what Emma could only describe as a vast expanse of bleak hopelessness, came a flicker of light.
The light, as it would turn out, came in the form of a Hufflepuff girl named Dorcas. Dorcas found Emma, hiding in Moaning Myrtleâs bathroom, and giving the ghost a run for her money. Dorcas gave Emma the gift of being heard and seen for once. And the dam that Emmaâs mother had so carefully constructed sprung a leak. Then another, and another, until Emma was spilling her every thought, fear, hope, and dream sheâd ever had to the other girl while she sat unceremoniously on the bathroom floor.
And it felt amazing. Sheâd nearly forgotten what it felt like to be free. To have opinions and thoughts and to not have to hide them away. But Emma was still timid now that she was free of her leash. She hesitated to allow herself to be befriended by this Hufflepuff girl- it wasnât what proper pureblooded girls did. But Dorcas was persistent, and Emma slowly but surely came to realize that maybe, just maybe, she could decide for herself just what a proper pureblooded girl could do.
After graduating, she promptly moved out, telling her family that she needed some time on her own to cope with the death of Antonin. In truth, she did, but she also needed time to come to terms with the resurrection of her soul and start to figure out who she was and what she wanted. She followed Dorcas into the Order not because she necessarily aligned with their cause, but more because of the need to belong to something. If that was where Dorcas was going, thatâs where she would go too. And since she began thinking for herself once more, sheâs beginning to piece together just what she had been silently agreeing with for all those years.
She is still soft-spoken and very well mannered. Old habits die hard. She wouldnât harm a fly, or say a harsh word to anyone, even those who have wronged her the most. However, being the friend of Dorcas Meadowes didnât come without her consequences. She will fight until the end for her friends. She will also fight for those that she views as trapped in the same cage of societal expectation sheâd only just found herself liberated from. Sheâs truly struggling to find her own voice after being silenced for so long. She still mentally filters everything sheâs going to say, hoping to stay in peopleâs good graces. That being said, sheâs beginning to discover that this can be her hidden weapon. The poise, manners, and airs befitting the daughter of a pureblooded family can work in her favor when sheâs trying to get information. Oftentimes people donât even realize what they say to Emma even registers, and sheâd like to keep it that way, especially when dealing with those outside of the Order. Perhaps she can gain insight into some of the Death Eaterâs secrets by playing the little games set in place by pureblooded society.
BRIEF OVERVIEW OF FAMILY:
Being a part of the Vanity household was not easy.
Viktoria, her mother, ran Emmaâs life with an iron fist. Emma distinctly remembers the day her mother changed towards her. After all, five is an awfully young age to have your childhood end. Viktoria would analyze every aspect of Emma, and she would tell her every flaw. Ladies shouldnât ask questions, Emma. A proper witch doesnât talk nearly as much as you do Emma, itâs very unattractive. Be silent Emma. Donât disagree. Make sure youâre presentable. Donât raise your voice. Donât. No.
The woman systematically disassembled the bright, happy young girl and transformed her into a living doll. Viktoriaâs version of Emma was lovely. Emma would descend the steps, a silent, closed-lip smile with vacant eyes drawn up like a bow on her face. Sheâd nod. Sheâd never speak unless she was spoken to first, and even then, she would only utter a few words at most. Viktoria was a control freak, so Emma became slightly neurotic when it came to pleasing the woman. Everything had to be perfect.
Her father was only marginally better, and he was absent from Emmaâs life more often than not. Edwin was sullen and silent most of the time. He rarely smiled, and when he did, it was more of a grimace than anything. Emma could probably count on one hand the number of times sheâd seen a genuine smile cross the manâs face. He never interfered with the way his wife raised their daughter. Whether or not he supported it, Emma didnât know. The man rarely made time for his daughter. Emma only ever really saw him when the family went to high society events or soirĂ©es. The rest of the time, heâd be tucked away in his study, busy at work, or chumming it up with other distinguishable pureblooded wizards.
And that was how the three of them existed. A picture-perfect family. But pictures can be deceiving.
OCCUPATION:
Her parents would be horrified if they knew, but Emma has gotten a job since leaving the Vanity household. She works as a hostess at Madam Puddifootâs Tea Shop in Hogsmeade. Itâs nice and quiet in the summer months, and she quite enjoys the bustle of the students in the fall. Theyâre all so cheerful and vibrant and full of life. Theyâre still young enough to live in blissful ignorance of how truly scary the wizarding world has grown.
While working at the tea shop doesnât pay incredibly well, Emma is by no means strapped for cash. Her parents assumed that she would just relax until she came to her senses and have given her a more than generous allowance. An allowance that benefits the Order of the Phoenix often.
ROLE WITHIN THE ORDER/THOUGHTS ABOUT THE ORDER:
Emma didnât join the Order for any grand reasons or dreams of heroism and grandeur. She joined because her only friend in the world was joining, and she would follow Dorcas into the very pits of hell. Â The longer sheâs a part of the organization, the more grateful she is that she found herself with the opportunity to join something bigger than herself. After so many years without an identity other than being the pretty Vanity girl who was engaged to a Mulciber, she could finally create an identity for herself that she liked and was proud of.
In the face of a failing war, she clings desperately to one of the first gifts Dorcas gave her - hope. Now that sheâs tasted freedom, she will not go back to life as it was before without a fight. If there was hope for her, thereâs hope that they will all survive this war, and more than just that- thereâs hope that they will win.
Being a part of the Dissendium Task Force is a brave new frontier for Emma. Itâs one of the first things sheâs done on her own without Dorcas other than getting a paying job. Sheâs starting to see just how bad the world can be for people who werenât lucky enough to be born into pureblooded family (though she isnât so sure how lucky she would consider herself). Sheâs also starting to forge a new identity. Sheâs trying hard to not just follow the leader and go along with what everyone else thinks. Itâs hard, but she is trying.
The illegal aspect of it is bizarrely kind of fun for Emma. After years of doing only what she was told and what was expected of her, the rebellion and rule-breaking is kind of exhilarating for Emma.
SURVIVAL:
Emma has been relatively safe. Despite leaving home, it isnât common knowledge that sheâs a part of the Order. Sheâs still a pureblooded witch. That carries enough weight that she isnât bothered, and sheâs still able to play that part without raising any eyebrows. She lives in a tiny cottage by herself in Hogsmeade. Living in Hogsmeade has the added protection of being close enough to Hogwarts that Death Eaters donât come prowling very often. She stays right where she is, hidden in plain sight, using her status as camouflage.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Emma really admires Marlene. The witch seems strong, fearless, and determined to Emma, and sheâd like to be able to reach that level of strength one day. She wants to be Marleneâs friend- she needs more of those. And then thereâs Benjy. Sheâd dragged him along to join her and Dorcas, but she kind of regrets it now. She misses it just being her and Dorcas. Now that Dorcas has to share her attention, Emma worries that Dorcas will find him more interesting, or braver, or smarter and that sheâll leave Emma in the dust.
Dorcas was the first real friend that Emma ever had. She might not have ever freed herself if Dorcas hadnât broken open the bars of her gilded cage. She owed so much to her friend- more than Dorcas might ever know. And yet, while Emma struggles with her sense of individuality, she finds herself clinging to her friend and afraid to let go. Sheâs holding on so tightly that she might be missing new potential friendships and relationships that could be staring her in the face.
OOC EXPLORATION:
SHIPS/ANTI-SHIPS: Â
Emma x Chemistry. If thereâs chemistry, Iâm happy. Emma hasnât really had any romantic relationships before. There was Antonin, but that was an arrangement made by their parents. While she loved (or talked herself into loving) him, she wasnât entirely sure if he even liked her. The romantic idea of running off into the sunset with someone seems entirely better now that sheâs not bound to someone she didnât choose.
WHAT PRIVILEGES AND BIASES DOES YOUR CHARACTER HAVE?
Emma was born to a life of privilege that sheâs only recently becoming aware of. While being from a pureblooded family had its downsides, those downsides were decidedly nowhere near as bad as being anything less than pureblooded.
Sheâs become aware of her privilege through Dorcas, and through what sheâs learned by being a part of the Order and the Dissendium Task Force. The purity of someoneâs blood doesnât matter. She knows that now, and yet she still has to correct herself when her first thought is whatâs been ingrained into every fiber of her being since she was a child. The important part, at least to Emma, is that sheâs trying to fix herself. Sheâs trying to correct the mistakes that her parents made in raising her.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO?
It has been literally FOREVER since Iâve seen a group that I really, truly wanted to be a part of. Iâve been in groups that didnât go anywhere, or that closed far too soon, and as a result, Iâve really missed writing. As long as itâs been since Iâve been in a group that I loved, itâs been longer still since Iâve been in a Wizarding World group, and oh my god I miss it so much. This franchise owns my soul, and I love writing in it, whether itâs next-gen, golden trio, marauders- whatever. I always want to write these characters and explore this world.
PLOT DROP IDEAS:Â
A ball or something where those in the pureblooded community might get recognized by death eaters as order members. Alternatively, Iâd love to see a situation where something happens, and Emma is separated from the group and is forced to make her own decisions and be a leader for herself for a change.
ANYTHING ELSE? Nope. I love this group. Mischief Managed <3

Congratulations Dani youâve been accepted to Crimson Revolt as Sirius Black!
âł please refer to our character checklist
Sirius shares the spot for my favorite character in the series and your app captures him brilliantly, Dani. Â Itâs hard to pick just one thing we loved but we especially appreciated how you talked about the nature vs nurture aspect of Siriusâ life and how he would have been a very different person had certain turning-points never happened. Â Itâs easy to see how various influences have shaped him yet no one thing defines him. Â Sirius remains, as ever, his own person. Â Itâs wonderful to have you back, Dani! *your faceclaim change to Miles McMillan has been approved.
application beneath the cut
OUT OF CHARACTER
INTRODUCTION
Surprise! Itâs me, ya boi! Dani here and Iâm 25 now. My preferred pronouns are she/her and I am from Michigan in the US, so EST timezone.
ACTIVITY
Iâm going to low-ball and say like 5-6/10 ??? Â Iâve been working a lot lately, but things are calming down. So definitely at the very least Iâll have a few weeknights free, and then time on the weekends.
HOW DID YOU FIND US?
Old member here! Initially, though, it was through the marauderâs rp tag, I believe.
Â Maybe it was the outcast factor or whatever, but those are all tied for second after Sirius, I think.
ANYTHING ELSE?
Iâve missed you guys, ok.
FACE CLAIM
Would Miles McMillan be okay?? Heâs my ultimate #1 top fave Sirius face.
&;;ââ And the worst:âBlood traitor! Filth! Scum!â
He tried not to cry out as his mother punished him one final time for being an insolent disgrace; he wouldnât give her the pleasure. He was worse for the wear, however, when she finished with him and sent him off to think about his disobedience.
One of Siriusâ biggest fears - a pardoned Orion - had been just on the horizon - a horrible truth born of the wavering fealty of the Ministry to the people it should serve. The Ministry had not proven useful in any form when it had come to dismantling the threat of the Death Eaters, nor action been its strong suit. So, it was with gusto that Sirius had volunteered to finally -finally - do something about the useless Ministry. It was with little regret, no mercy that Sirius would have raided the Ministry, striking down anyone in his way, fear and rage and a childhood that haunted his every memory of Orion Black fueling his actions. Untilâ
It was too late. The Death Eaters had taken the Ministry, and Sirius couldnât help but blame his hatred for his father for blinding him to what had happened that night. So, he fled, with those closest to him, to a safe house far from Londonâs ground zero, shame and disgust at his own actions grasping hold of him, crippling any sense of logic that may have remained. Sirius fell back - too quiet, maybe, not as bright as he was supposed to shine.
Still, as they settled in Scotland, worked towards a new goal, a new plan of action, Sirius found himself not quite wavering from the ideals that drew him to Aversio; again, they were waiting, holding back while the Death Eaters took hold of London. Again, inaction, when there should be something, some retaliation to show that they were still there, still fighting, and wouldnât Lord Voldemort win. But - nothing. And Sirius wondered how differently the war might be if Aversio had full control over the decisions, over the course of action.
