ughhh we need to be interacting with art more !!! we need to take the time to look into others' arts, all kinds of it, surround ourselves with varieties of pottery, music, fanart, poetry, homemade jewelry, etc. but we need to get over ourselves. it's not going to be perfect! not everyone is "the next picasso"! that's not what art is for!! it's so intrinsically, uniquely human and therefore imperfect. and we need to be creating more! take the time out of your day, yes to go to a museum or listen to spoken word, but also make your own art!! it could be chalk paintings, dancing, wood carving, whatever makes your heart happy. don't be so wrapped up in other people's ideas that you forget to cherish your own beautiful mind. appreciate others' art more because you started creating. it doesn't matter if other people could do it "better". they're not going to be able to do it like you.

Plus a quickly drawn diagram to show how it’s set up more clearly. Essentially I use the sheets of glass to give me more “layers” so to speak. The very bottom portion is where I’d slide different colored construction paper for different colored backgrounds, then the actual playdoh cat and cutout images were on the other layers. They are floating because well… they are! Kind of! Not necessarily floating but they are on a different level

talk-no-music for drawing (video essays etc), music-no-talk for words (comics etc). lately i've been into matt bernstein's a bit fruity podcast while i draw! theres a particular castlevania music mix that's my go to as well.

22. do you have a favorite color palette to work with?

honestly working in pure greyscale is my favorite. i do use a lot of colors i know but to me nothing really beats a bunch of grey markers of slightly different shades!!!

26. what do you physically draw with (pencil and paper, tablet, etc)?

digital - firealpaca+my beloved wacom tablet that just turned 10 this past june <333

traditional - anything i can get my hands on really lol tho i dislike smudgy things (pencil charcoal colored pencils etc), i usually sketch in a pale colored marker and then go right on with pen, incorporating the sketch into the shading etc as i go. i have a bunch of dollar store acrylics and some tbh really shitty brushes, and some super nice fanceyyy glitter watercolors a friend got me for my bday a few years ago, approximately one gazillion markers, and lately, playdoh!

Okay, so after losing motivation and falling out of the fandom for a bit (changes in hyperfixations + other personal stuff) I AM FINALLY BACK!! And to celebrate I am making a random headcanon(?) post.

→ So, now I present to you, fellow dndads enjoyer: Things that happened to me/that I did as a kid that I associate with Lark Oak-Garcia (+ A bit of Sparrow).

— Him and Sparrow would grab a duvet and wrap it around themselves to slide down the stairs from the top as fast as they could.

— Went through a phase of only sleeping in a sleeping bag for like a few months, which included: sleeping on the floor, under the bed, in the wardrobe, and once in the bathtub.

— Played on the trampoline but bounced so weirdly that he went straight through the protective netting surrounding it and smashed his head on the corner of a wooden bench.

— Ran a bath for himself but refused to open a window or add enough cold water that it was a relaxing temperature and so he accidentally ended up making himself overheat so much that when he got out of it he immediately passed out and threw up in the bathtub.

— Had wall crayons to keep him entertained in the bath as a kid

— Would run around the house and slide on the floors with socks as a kid. But the floor in the kitchen was wooden and there was a panel that was always too small and would shift back and forwards out of place right at the entrance so everytime he’d run into the kitchen he’d step on it and it would shoot forward and he’d just go crashing backwards to the floor and smack his head on the ground every single time.

— Ate playdoh because the salty taste was actually the best but did it so much his mum refused to by it and so he made a shitty microwave substitute.

— Snapped crayons and pencils when he got pissed off because it was the only non-violent way he could think of expressing that kinda anger as a young kid.

— Used to scribble drawings on the underside of the dinner table and eventually it was absolutely covered in squiggles.

— I know the Oak-Garcias are more of a sandle family but as a kid who grew up with crocs, Lark gives me immense croc vibes. Like he’d either wear crocs or just deadass go barefoot, no in between.

— Ran on rocky concrete with bare feet, stumbled and scraped his toe knuckles all up on it (that shit hurts so much).

— Clipped his ankles way too many times trying to do scooter tricks.

— Got really bad sleep paralysis a few times as a kid and hallucinated. It messed him up real bad and made him scared of the dark for a long time, even if he’d never admit it.

— Put a ZhuZhu pet on the top of his head, pressed the button on it’s back and just it just caught his hair all up in the wheels and had to be cut out.

— Loved: Ben 10, Power Rangers, Skylanders, Pokémon.

— Hates the taste of milk and refused to drink it.

— Ate an entire packet of orange flavoured vitamin gummies because they tasted nice. Same with fruit flavoured glucose tables.

— Made potions in the toilet and mud pies outside in the gutters with Sparrow while pretending to be wizards.

— Let kids in his primary school believe that he couldn’t feel pain and just learned to suppress and dull out any reactions to it when they would pinch him or twist his arms into weird positions to test it one time (which absolutely fucking hurt) because he was too stubborn and didn’t want to show pain so he could look cool.

— Steal things from the classrooms of teachers he hated purely out of spite because they were targeting him that lesson (has like 6 pairs of scissors, a bunch of dice, some pens, and a handful of counters.

— Loves scaring the shit out of people.

— Kept getting distracted and running away so had to be put on a leash.

— Accidentally dislocated a girls finger by passing a netball too hard and fast.

— Got a tennis ball stuck in a metal grate fence because he hit it too hard at it.

— Ate cat biscuits.

— Him and Sparrow would make parachutes out of string and bags and strap action men and dolls to them then throw them out of the window.

— The twins would also pretend to be spies and had several notebooks full of random rambling and notes about random conversations they overheard their parents talking about.

— They kept throwing reusable ice packs into the neighbours’ gardens because it was funny.

— Told a kid he knew to fuck off in year 2 (that’s like 6/7 years old for Americans)

— Kept throwing out bread to befriend pigeons and become their king.

— Physically cannot stop himself from swapping the first letters of two words. E.g saying ‘candle wax’ as “wandle cax”, or ‘leather boots’ as “beather loots”.

— Kicks in his sleep.

— Would put a bunch of pillows at the bottom of the stairs and slowly work their way up the stairs jumping onto the starting from the bottom, until they were fully launching themselves from the top of the stair case.

clay i had been using has started attracting bugs, gave me such a fright! would've taken some photos if i was not so worried about safely disposing of everything because it looked actually very cool and badass they crawled into a crack that had formed on the back of one of my pieces.... live and learn I will need to splurge on clay that is not just shitty homemade playdoh type recipe -__-; it is a little bit frustrating to have to re-do hours of work but I will overcome... i will need to do a deepcleaning of my room tomorrow to make sure there are no more bugs or else my ma will kill meeee

Idfk man everything from Ricky getting the football his dad gave him stolen by shitty older dudes to Ricky's brother (Doughboy) going "YO, GIVE MY BROTHER HIS BALL BACK" and getting his ass beat for it, to the single tear that slides down Tré's face as he's being held at gunpoint by a cop for a myriad of crimes he didn't commit, to Tré's dad being the one who has to "teach Tré how to be a man" to Doughboy carrying his dead brother's body into the house and proceeding to get his ass beaten by his mom because she's done nothing but presume the worst of him because of the type of man his father was to Ricky and Doughboy's mom crying because her son just barely passed the SATs to go to college but what fucking use is this now that he's dead.....like idk man it's all very real. These are my experiences as a black man in America, just endless struggle with little (if any) light at the end of the tunnel but still trying your best to be a decent person and make life easier for the people around you along the way. And I've cried multiple times over how good it's felt to have someone put the experiences I don't have the balls to put into words on the big screen.

Idk, I wish I could be one of those people that viewed manhood as a big joke, as playdoh to experiment with. But that's just not the case for me. My experiences have made me the man I am today and, yeah, sometimes it's funny to frame as "camp" or a big joke, but I'm mostly just some guy trying to survive and make the world a little nicer for the people I care about with what little I have. And I feel like saying these words is valid and real in its own right.

I wouldn't say Boyz n the Hood is a movie without flaws but I will still stand by the fact that it's one of the greatest movies ever made.

Do you play Pokemon Go? If so, what level are you and who’s your buddy? Not anymore. I had it briefly when it first came out to see what the hype was all about and played maybe a couple of times. Not a game for homebodies such as myself, ha. Do you ever sit indoors and wear sunglasses or a hat? Not at home, but if I wear a hat out and about I don’t take it off when I get to wherever I’m going. I keep it on until I get home. Are you putting off doing something right now? If so, what is it? Sleep? ha. I don’t know why. I’m beyond exhausted. I honestly don’t know how I’m even still awake. I’m back from a 4 day vacay, which really kicked my ass. Don’t get me wrong, I had an awesome time at the most magical, happiest place on earth, but I’m definitely paying the price now. Every part of my body hurts and I feel so worn down. What’s the most daring thing you have ever done? Uhhh. I don’t know. I’m not a very daring kind of gal. I tend to place it pretty safe. Do you know how to read animals’ behaviour? I think I understand a lot of dogs’ behaviors quite well. 

What would be something that made you think less of a person you just met? Hmm. They’d have to say or do something pretty offensive.

Most recently, I completed Luigi’s Mansion 3 on the Nintendo Switch. Are you sitting in front of or by a window? What can you see out there? There’s a window in front of me. Right now I can’t see anything it’s pitch black. Are there any coasters on your table? If so, do they have text or pictures? No. Have you ever sewn a garment? Nope. Why do you take surveys on Bzoink? Trust and loyalty of course, but for me patience and understanding is also necessary and important. What do you do when you have an itch in a spot you can’t reach? Try to use something to help reach it. If you wear lipstick, what’s your favourite colour to wear? It’s been quite awhile since I’ve worn lipstick, but I always liked nudes or light pinks. A nice red was good to have for special occasions. Is your style feminine, masculine or somewhere in the middle? Whatever leggings and oversized graphic tees are. It’s just very casual. Do you usually carry a backpack, a shoulder bag or something else? I’ve been using a mini backpack as of late. Have you ever made your own jewelry? If so, what have you made? Beaded jewelry. Do you wear glasses? Yep. If so, have you ever tried to fix them when they’ve broken? I had to tape a pair once when I was younger. That was so shitty. Have you ever made a friend online who lives in another country? Yeah. Are there a lot of dragonflies around your house? I rarely see them (thankfully). Any Taylor Swift song. In your ideal profession, would you need a work uniform? >> I don’t have an ideal profession, but if I did, I’d assume being able to dress comfortably would be one of the criteria for it. <<< Yep, most definitely.
