🍊A dragon you like based on looks
I hatched Respite during NOTN last year and this look was too good to pass up. Blend is such a perfect match for the Pastel eyes here, and the Cyan Augment really pops against the pastels.
Her whole vibe is perfect for one of my worldbuilding projects that I've been collecting FR dragons for. Respite here is a futuristic ruined outpost that, with its magical life-support systems intact, became a populated city in the post-apocalypse.
🍋A dragon you regret exalting
I had to kill off one of my starter dragons in my Kingdomlocke, and while it's very good for Plot Purposes, I am still so sad. I had them for like two years before they got got and they were one of my favorites til the end. o7
I really should work on that story. Especially with a whole new Water modern running around lol
🍌Three headcanons about how magic works in your lore
1- Since the Tidelord disappeared, Water mages can't draw power or get their prophecies directly from him. Currently, they have to rely on their own magic reserves and outside sources (such as artifacts and magic in the environment) to cast spells. (I've got a Water paladin who called upon the Tidelord directly for almost all her power before he vanished; she's not having a good time now. She misses dad)
In regards to prophecies, some Water dragons have enough of a gift to just get them airdropped into their heads. For all the other mages who have normal abilities, they now rely on various spells and divination rituals. These include cards and dice, hieromancy, interpretation of omens, and whatever else works. There's probably some weirdo out there with a literal Magic 8 Ball.
2- Dragons are magic-fueled creatures, and most of them have magic reserves big enough to sustain themselves and throw some spells around. Dragons can increase their innate magic supply by training, or temporarily with artifacts or other external magic shenanigans.
Some dragons are born with, or end up with over their lifetime, a severely reduced magic supply. These dragons experience chronic fatigue, weakness, and general malaise, among other symptoms.
The condition can be helped with things such as adaptive magic apparel intended to bolster the user's internal reserves, and (to a limited extent) the methods magically abled dragons use to train, but dragons with this disability will always have some limitations their peers don't.
3- In most of Sornieth there's not much advanced tech, but some lairs have magical equivalents of computers! Most of these can be found in Lightning, but there's been plenty of exports and similar inventions in Arcane and Light.
Since magic is Weird, sometimes these computers (or their programs) end up with a mind of their own. These sapient AIs can be created on purpose, but occasionally just pop into existence. They can be an immense help or an immense hindrance, depending on what they feel like doing to the network they live in.
#thank you for the ask! spent a while thinking on the magic headcanons#an artist i admire(jay eaton) once pointed out that disability always exists in relation to what is expected from a society#so i thought “how would that apply to a magical dragon society?”#(note i am physically abled but i tried to be as respectful as possible with this Magic Disability idea)#ask answered

Ethnocide/Genocide of Uyghurs in China
China’s primarily Han government has been committing a slew of human rights abuses against Uyghurs, a Turkic ethnic minority in China, since 2014. Often referred as an ethnocide, forced assimilation, or simply genocide, these abuses include but are not limited to: forced labor, forced abortion and sterilization, and forced “re-education” of Uyghurs (aka the suppression of Uyghur culture). While Uyghurs in China have been an oppressed group since they were conquered, in 2014 over a million Ugyhurs were incarcerated without legal process and placed in internment camps located in Xinjiang. While these camps started to publicly wind down in 2019, about 40 countries worldwide called out China for the sheer amount of abuse in these camps, such as rape and torture.
According to the U.S. Bureau of International Labor Affairs, “It is estimated that 100,000 Uyghurs and other ethnic minority ex-detainees in China may be working in conditions of forced labor following detention in re-education camps”. These forced labor conditions (according to two accounts in this article), include little pay, the forced lack of (or extremely limited) contact with loved ones, and the confiscation of identification traps the Uyghur workers within these forced labor camps. There are several Chinese industries that forced Uyghur labor contributes to, including but not limited to, textiles, hair products, and fish.
What makes this worse is that a lot of the raw materials made through forced labor (such as textiles) are shipped out internationally to create the products that appear on store shelves. On the End Forced Uyghur Labor website, this exportation of materials is so bad that “1 in 5 cotton garments in the global apparel market are at risk of being tainted with Uyghur forced labour.” This has huge implications for the U.S. fast fashion industry in particular because of the popularity of fast fashion companies such as Temu and Shien, and how fast fashion companies often use materials that come from forced or underpaid labor worldwide. I would not be surprised if Uyghur forced labor comes into scrutiny soon in regards to the fast fashion industry.
Outside of forced labor, Uyghurs face other horrendous human rights abuses such as forced abortions. AP News reported on how three Ugyhurs who fled from China to Turkey gave testimonies of forced abortions and torture that either happened to them, or someone else. One woman stated that she was kidnapped at 6 ½ months pregnant by the Chinese police and was forced to undergo an abortion. This is an obvious attempt to suppress the population increase of Uyghurs in Xinjiang and China as a whole because of their ethnic minority status. Meanwhile, another exile described being tortured and interrogated regarding information relating to his brother. He mentioned that, “the brother was wanted partly because he published a religious book in Arabic.” This is obvious discrimination against Uyghurs not only because of their ethnic minority status, but also because of how most Uyghurs are Muslim.
This genocide and discrimination is why it is so important to keep Uyghur traditions alive. The Muqam, a traditional Uyghur melody type to guide the composition and improvisation within Ugyhur music, is just one distinct example of this. The Muqam is a tradition listed within the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage created by UNESCO, with “the aim of ensuring better protection of important intangible cultural heritages worldwide and the awareness of their significance.” Some other important examples of these intangible cultural heritages are the dakbe from Palestine and congolese rumba from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Congo.
One Uyghur band, Qetiq, took the traditional Muqam and blended it with rock music. Qetiq is made up of Perhat Khaliq, his wife Pazilet Tursun, a cousin of Khaliq, and some friends. Perhat Khaliq’s participation in the Voice of China in 2014 gained him a lot of publicity. Qetiq released their first EP, Qetiq: Rock from the Taklamakan Desert, in 2013. After touring in 2015 across China, Khaliq received the Dutch's Prince Claus Awards for "breathing new life into traditional Uyghur forms".
Being completely honest, while I searched for Uyghur music, the amount of information that I could access as an American on Google was extremely limited. I was able to come across a few Wikipedia articles and some research papers, but not anything to the extent of other cultures. I believe that this is partially intentional, but I do not have enough expertise or knowledge to say that for sure.
However, what I did find was absolutely beautiful, and while I do not have the cultural context nor understanding of any language besides English, after listening to Qetiq: Rock from Taklamakan Desert several times, I can confidently recommend some songs. If anyone has more information to add to the conversation, I would greatly appreciate it since I was only able to gather so much from my research.

Achieving Success Through Supply Chain Management Training in Bangladesh
Bangladesh is a country of immense potential, but it has struggled to leverage that potential due to inadequate supply chain management training. As the world globalizes, supply chain management has become increasingly important for businesses in both developed and developing countries. For Bangladesh, this opens up opportunities to create jobs, increase exports and nurture economic growth.
But what does it take for Bangladesh to become a leader in the field of supply chain management? In this blog post, we will explore how training and education can help drive forward success in this area and help grow the economy of Bangladesh.
What is Supply Chain Management?
Supply chain management (SCM) is the process of planning, implementing, and controlling the operations of a company's supply chain. The main goal of SCM is to ensure that the company's products are delivered to customers in a timely and efficient manner.
SCM training can help Bangladesh-based companies improve their supply chains and achieve success. Through SCM training, companies can learn how to better plan and control their supply chains, which can lead to improved customer satisfaction and increased profits.
The Importance of Supply Chain Management Training
The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) is committed to ensuring that its members are able to access the best possible supply chain management training. In order to achieve this, the BGMEA has partnered with a number of leading international organizations to offer a range of courses which cover all aspects of supply chain management.
The BGMEA recognizes that an efficient and effective supply chain is essential to the success of the garment industry in Bangladesh. In order to keep up with the ever-changing requirements of the global market, it is essential that Bangladeshi manufacturers have access to the latest information and techniques. The courses offered by the BGMEA will ensure that members are able to stay ahead of the competition and continue to meet the demands of buyers.
The courses on offer include:
- An Introduction to Supply Chain Management
- Principles of Supply Chain Management
- Fundamentals of Purchasing and Procurement
- Supply Chain Management for Apparel Brands and Retailers
- Sourcing Strategies for Apparel Manufacturers
- Lean Manufacturing for Apparel factories
- Quality Control and Assurance in Apparel Production
Each course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills they need to improve their operations and contribute to the success of their company. The courses are delivered by experienced instructors who are experts in their field, and who use a variety of teaching methods including lectures, case studies, group work, and individual tutorials.
The Current State of Supply Chain Management in Bangladesh
The current state of supply chain management in Bangladesh can be best described as fledgling. Despite the fact that the country has been making strides in recent years to improve its logistics infrastructure, the overall level of development is still relatively low. This is particularly true when compared to other countries in the region such as India and China.
However, it is important to note that there are some bright spots. In particular, the Bangladeshi government has been investing heavily in training programs for supply chain management. These programs are designed to help improve the skills of those working in the logistics industry and to raise awareness about best practices.
There is still a long way to go before Bangladesh can claim to have a world-class supply chain management system. However, with continued investment and commitment from both the public and private sectors, it is certainly possible that the country will be able to make significant progress in this area in the years to come.
The Benefits of Supply Chain Management Training in Bangladesh
The benefits of supply chain management training in Bangladesh are numerous. Perhaps most importantly, it helps to improve communication and coordination between different parts of the supply chain, which can lead to improved efficiencies and cost savings. In addition, supply chain management training can help to improve supplier relationships, as well as customer service and satisfaction levels.
In today's business environment, having a well-trained and efficient supply chain management team is critical to success. By investing in quality training for your team, you can ensure that your company is able to keep up with the competition and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
The Different Types of Supply Chain Management Training in Bangladesh
Supply chain management (SCM) is becoming increasingly important in today's globalized world, particularly for firms in the developing world. Bangladesh is no exception; training in SCM is necessary to keep up with the challenges of an ever-changing business landscape. This article will discuss the different types of SCM training available in Bangladesh, and how each of these courses can help organizations improve their performance.
1. Traditional supply chain management training: This type of training covers the basic concepts and methods of supply chain management. It is typically delivered in a classroom setting, and may include lectures, case studies, and group discussions.
2. Online supply chain management training: This type of training is delivered online, and can be self-paced or synchronous (taught in real-time with a live instructor). It may include videos, readings, quizzes, and simulations.
3. Supply chain management certification programs: These programs provide comprehensive training in supply chain management principles and practices. They often include an exam at the end, and successful completion can lead to professional certification.
4. On-the-job training: Many organizations offer on-the-job training programs for their employees. This type of training can be tailored to the specific needs of the organization, and allows employees to learn while they are working.
The Challenges of Implementing Supply Chain Management Training in Bangladesh
In Bangladesh, the challenges of implementing supply chain management training are many and varied. The first challenge is the lack of awareness of the importance of supply chain management among the general population. This is compounded by the fact that there is no formal education or training available in Bangladesh on this topic. As a result, there are few people who are knowledgeable about supply chain management and its potential benefits.
The second challenge is the lack of infrastructure and resources to support supply chain management training. In Bangladesh, most businesses operate on a small scale and do not have the necessary resources to invest in training their employees on supply chain management. Additionally, there is a lack of qualified trainers who are able to provide quality training on this topic.
The third challenge is the cultural barriers to implementing supply chain management training in Bangladesh. The culture in Bangladesh places a high value on personal relationships and networking. This can make it difficult to implement changes within an organization, such as introducing new processes or technologies related to supply chain management. Additionally, the hierarchical nature of Bangladeshi society can make it difficult to get buy-in from all levels of an organization for new initiatives.
Despite these challenges, there are also opportunities for successful implementation of supply chain management training in Bangladesh. One opportunity lies in the increasing globalization of business and trade. As more businesses operate internationally, they will need employees who are trained in international standards and practices related to supply chain management. Additionally, the growth of the Bangladesh economy provides opportunities
Tips for Successful Supply Chain Management Training
Having an effective supply chain management training program can be a great resource for any organization. It is essential to ensure that proper training is conducted in order to maximize efficiency and productivity. With the right guidance and resources, companies can build a successful supply chain management program that benefits the entire organization. Below we will discuss some tips for successful supply chain management training that can help you get started on the right track.
1. Define your goals: What do you hope to achieve through supply chain management training? Is it to improve your knowledge of the subject so that you can be more effective in your current role? Or are you looking to advance your career and move into a managerial position? Once you know what your goals are, you can tailor your training accordingly.
2. Do your research: There are many different types of supply chain management training programs out there. Before enrolling in one, do some research to make sure it's a good fit for you. Ask yourself what the program covers, how long it is, and whether it's offered online or in-person.
3. Consider your schedule: Supply chain management training can be intensive, so make sure you have the time to commit to it. If you're working full-time while taking classes, consider an online program that offers more flexibility.
4. Set aside time for study: In addition to attending classes, you'll need to set aside time for independent study. Make sure you're prepared to commit the necessary time to reading textbooks and other course materials, as well as completing assignments.
5. Stay organized: Supply chain management involves a lot of moving parts, so it's important to stay organized throughout your training. Keep track of deadlines and due dates, and create a system for organizing course materials so that you can easily find what you need when you need it.
How to Overcome the Challenges of Supply Chain Management Training in Bangladesh
In order to overcome the challenges of supply chain management training in Bangladesh, it is important to first understand the specific challenges that exist within the country. One of the biggest challenges is the lack of a centralized government body or institution that can provide cohesive and standardized training. This often results in a fragmented approach to training, with different organizations and companies using their own methods, which can make it difficult for employees to receive a consistent education.
Another challenge is the limited resources that are available for training. This includes both financial resources and skilled personnel. As a result, many supply chain management programs in Bangladesh are forced to operate on a shoestring budget, which can impact the quality of instruction and learning materials. In addition, there is often a shortage of qualified trainers, which can make it difficult to find someone with the necessary knowledge and experience to effectively teach employees.
Despite these challenges, there are also several opportunities that exist for those interested in pursuing supply chain management training in Bangladesh. One of the biggest advantages is the country's vast pool of potential workers. With over 160 million people living in Bangladesh, there is a large labor force that can be tapped into for supply chain management positions. In addition, Bangladesh has a rapidly growing economy and its manufacturing sector is expected to expand significantly in the coming years. This provides an opportunity for those with supply chain management training to find employment with companies that are looking to capitalize on this growth.
Overall, while there are some challenges associated with supply chain
Conclusion
In conclusion, supply chain management training in Bangladesh can help businesses achieve success. With proper training and resources, businesses can become more efficient and effective in their operations thus gaining a competitive edge over other companies. It is essential for organizations to invest in the right technology and personnel to ensure that they are well-prepared for the ever-evolving business environment. Ultimately, it is up to each business's leadership team to recognize the importance of having strong supply chain management processes and provide necessary support towards successful supply chain implementations.

I didn't know about this at all even though it didn't surprise me. From Wikipedia:
The Caribbean Basin Initiative (CBI), a trade initiative initiated by the 1983 Caribbean Basin Economic Recovery Act (CBERA), is a United States program. The CBI came into effect on January 1, 1984, and aimed to provide several tariff and trade benefits to many Central American and Caribbean countries. Provisions in the CBERA prevented the United States from extending preferences to CBI countries that it judged to be contrary to its interests or that had expropriated American property.
The Caribbean Basin Economic Recovery Expansion Act of 1990, known as "CBI II", made the CBI permanent. However, once the United States entered into the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in 1994 with Mexico it became easier for Mexico to export its products to the United States. CBI countries had lost their advantage relative to Mexico, a major competitor in industries such as textiles and apparel, so they sought to increase their own preferences and achieve "NAFTA parity". Those efforts were not successful until the 2000 Caribbean Basin Trade Partnership Act, which was broadened in 2002. Several exports from the region continue to receive preferential status in the United States, however those preferences will likely be replaced by bilateral free trade agreements, and possibly by the proposed Free Trade Area of the Americas. In the early 1980's, Haiti was self-sufficient in the field of rice production. However, the CBI called for liberalizing Haiti's economy and re-allocating nearly one-third of domestic Haitian food production toward export crops, and as a result of the subsequent shrinking of the rice industry and inundation of the market with cheap imported rice subsidized by the US government, Haitian farmers found their livelihoods crippled as they could not compete with the subsidized "Miami rice". Subsequently, rice production in Haiti plummeted, and many rural Haitians employed throughout the rice industry lost their source of income. However, American rice producers that took in government subsidies and dumped their product on Haiti, where tariffs on rice imports shrank from 35% to 3%, benefited greatly financially.

VIATT 2025 set to advance sustainability and digitalisation in Vietnam’s textile industry
In recent years, Vietnam has rapidly transformed into one of the world’s key textile producers, solidifying its position as the world’s third-ranked exporter behind China and Bangladesh. With a history rooted in silk textile craftsmanship and currently embracing wide ranging modern textile production, the country’s thriving sector offers tremendous growth prospects for both domestic and international businesses. In a bid to harness the potential in Vietnam and Southeast Asia, the Vietnam International Trade Fair for Apparel, Textiles and Textile Technologies (VIATT) will return from 26 – 28 February 2025, with a renewed focus on promoting sustainability and digital transformation.
Vietnam's textile and apparel sector comprises approximately 7,000 companies and employs over three million workers, with 80% of production capacity used for export and 20% for domestic consumption. Progress is aided by well-developed logistics networks, skilled labour and a stable political environment. As its textile industry evolves, several key trends are influencing its future direction, reflecting a growing emphasis on sustainability and technological advancement, and leading to new opportunities for exhibitors and buyers across the value chain at Vietnam’s comprehensive textile showcase.
Major trends shaping Vietnam's textile market reflected at VIATT
More Vietnamese enterprises are adopting eco-friendly materials, including organic cotton, recycled polyester, and Tencel, while numerous global brands manufacture in Vietnam, and have committed to the "Fashion Industry Charter on Climate Action", aiming to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
To further advance sustainable initiatives in the domestic and international textile industry, VIATT 2025 will introduce Econogy Hub, a dedicated platform for innovative, eco-friendly suppliers and service providers to connect with like-minded visitors. The show’s other new Texpertise Econogy features will include the Econogy Finder, an independent verification tool to help sustainable exhibitors effectively communicate their green credentials, and Econogy Talks, the overarching category for eco-focused seminars, forums, and product presentations.
Apart from sustainability, the Vietnamese textile industry is also embracing advanced technologies in design and manufacturing. The launch of the fair’s Innovation & Digital Solutions Zone will provide a centralised platform for exhibitors to showcase innovations such as 3D printing, AI-driven design, and digital printing, which enable manufacturers to boost efficiency and customise products to meet specific market demands.
As well as the introduction of two new product zones, the India Pavilion, organised by The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (TEXPROCIL), will also make its debut at VIATT 2025. Additionally, the Japan and Taiwan Pavilions have confirmed their return, with the Japan Pavilion recognised by VIATT’s visitors as a standout showcase within Southeast Asia's textile fair landscape. Mir woke up sharply about half past three in the morning, his heart pounding. Although his dream had been unpleasant, the specifics had quickly vanished and just left a sense of discomfort. He lay quiet for a minute, trying to relax by staring at the ceiling. At 26 Mir felt imprisoned. Although he possessed a degree and experience in the import-export company, locating employment in his tiny town had proved more difficult than he had anticipated. Most of the work here was for doctors or in the apparel business. "Why are there so many jobs for doctors?" he mused. "Shouldn't trading or real estate present more possibilities?" But alas, this town lacked what he required.
Restless, Mir knew he needed a smoke. Seeking a pack, he reached for the drawer next to his bed but it was empty. "Great," he said in a whisper. "Out of smokes." Searching for a left-over cigarette—just one puff—he scanned the ashtray but found none. Embarrassed at the thought of smoking an old cigarette butt, "How did I get so cheap?" he wondered.
He grabbed on an old T-shirt, slipped into his worn-out trainers and decided to leave to get some smokes without any other option. The streets were still—so silent that even his footsteps sounded too loud. He was the only one still waking as flickering lamps created lengthy shadows on the vacant roadways, giving the impression that the entire planet was asleep.
"All the stores are closed now," he said. About ten minutes away, at the 24-hour store near the hospital, he knew the only place open. "Guess I'll have to drag myself over there," he said grumbling.
He had to walk through a little alley where six stray dogs slept every night to get there. The dogs startled Mir when he first moved to this village, but they had learnt to recognise him over time. They now trailed silently along the lane, just up to a certain point—never past the old pillar. It astounded Mir how animals seemed to grasp limitations more precisely than humans. "They know their limitations," he used to say frequently.
The road opened out once beyond the pillar. Usually Mir spotted the night guard here, two cars could fit side by side. The elderly guy sat at his station, his spear barely glistening under the streetlight. Surrounded by hounds, the guard appeared to be a king, silently monitoring his little area of darkness. On his late-night walks, Mir interacted with a few others—sometimes even bringing him tea. The guard always valued the company; Mir's visits helped to somewhat lessen the loneliness of his long evenings.
But tonight the elderly man was asleep, his hounds laying about him like tired soldiers. "At least someone's sleeping," Mir said, twitching with jealousy. He stayed strolling without bothering him.
Mir had to cross the highway after the guard pass. The homeless lay strewn like shadows under the flyover, their thin blankets cocoon-style wrapped around them. Mir always felt they slept like babies—so innocent, so calm, even without food, a house, or protection from the insects. "How can they sleep in this?" he questioned. "Why doesn't anyone give them a place to stay?" he used to ask first. But gradually he came to see, "maybe they wouldn't want to be indoors. Perhaps they find more comfort out here, free from walls and regulations.
Mir bought his smokes when he at last arrived at the shop and impulsively grabbed a banana. Bananas were his favourite fruit—such a basic, straightforward one. "What if there were no bananas?" he asked as he lighted his cigarette. then, what would I eat? He grabbed another puff and asked, "What if all fruits tasted like apples? One taste exists in the world.
Hearing a voice, he stood outside the store drawing long drags from his cigarette. Like a mild breeze, it was familiar, pleasing, and delicate. It gave the cigarette he was holding different, better taste somehow. His heart pounding, "I know that voice," he thought. It was the voice of someone he had dreamed about countless times.
Deeply inhaling, he thought, "If I could just sit here and smoke, and watch her forever, that would be enough." Like a mother knows her child, he knew her really well. He knew her preferred tea, the way her eyes sparkled when she spoke her best novels, and the way she grinned when a cat happened by. Though he understood everything, in this instant she couldn see him and he couldn't see her. Mumbled to himself, "Thank God." He wanted her to see him not like this, standing in the dark clutching a cigarette and feeling sorrow in his breast.
Still, he did not need to see her. Just a few meters away, he knew she was there, seated where she always sat, gently giggling, chatting about something she loved. He had dreamed this image so often—a thousand visions of sitting with her, drinking tea, her short curly hair falling in lovely waves around her face, her laugh filling the air like music. Still, it was always simply a dream. Reality changed.
Mir dragged once more, letting the smoke fill his lungs, then fixed his gaze on the location where she had been. "Why do I feel so ugly?" he asked. Not only on the outside—though, at times he felt ugly—but deep inside, where it counted. He was worn out and bored with feeling broken.
The store behind him was closed, the evening still and empty. Though he asked himself, "Why can't I be happy?" he already knew the answer. Not even her could make him happy. Nobody else could either. His sole friend now was sadness; the only thing he could count on. Like a shadow, it always waited for him.
Mir knew he would not be sleeping tonight. He seldom did. Rather, he would stroll aimlessly around the still streets smoking his smokes and see the stray cats slink across the alleyways. Just as he knew he was imprisoned here, just as he knew she could never be his, he knew every cat in this neighbourhood. Still, he persisted knowing all of this. He stayed on the town.
Though the question he asked himself, "Why don't I leave?" had a straightforward response. Leaving would mean she would be let go. Not yet, he was not ready for it.
He peered into the night, wondering whether she even realised he existed as he pulled one last drag of his cigarette. Does she know?
