FIRST LOOK: Hyundai INSTER - inside the £22k city car that’s set to be a huge hit | Electrifying

This is the Hyundai INSTER - which definitely seems to have been named to try and attract the Gen Z car buyers. Only nobody told them that, if that’s the case, they should have called it the TikTok or the SnapChat because only old people like the electrifying.com team use Instagram, these days! Anyway, the new Hyundai INSTER is based on Hyundai’s existing small city car - the Casper. The Casper is currently only sold in Korea (in my opinion, Casper would have been a better name to stick with!), which is also where it’s built as part of a joint venture with one of the local manufacturers. And that’s what allows Hyundai to reduce costs. Speaking of which, Hyundai hasn’t confirmed pricing, yet, but the INSTER is expected to cost from around £22,000 - a similar amount to its arch nemesis, the Citroen e-C3. It's not going to be fast, mind… The 95bhp, 42kWh INSTER will take 11.7sec to get to 62mph. The bigger 49kWh car gets a whopping 113bhp, for a slightly less embarrassing 0-62mph time of 10.6 seconds(..)

Griffin - Stubbornly pretending that it does not care and just...doesn't feel like going for a walk or a flight right now. For no reason at all. Just because it happens to feel like staying inside right now

Salamanders - Keep trying to climb up through the chimney of their fireplace because the airs smells so unusually delicious tonight. Must be bribed with hard coal to keep them inside

Kirkegrim - Circling its home in protection, thereby roaming through the dark like a ghostly canine shape in the smoke and dust filling the air, its red eyes lit up under every flicker of light from above. Probably absolutely terrifying the neighbours

Hippocamp - Still just chilling in the water. Really not that bothered, as long as it can dive down deep enough when there's too many flashing lights

Dragon - Thinks roman candles are a delicious snack. Chews on sparklers. Will end up spitting out spinning balls of coloured fire. Must be locked inside the house and is so so sulky about it

Jackalope - Having a very bad no good horrible time due to all the sudden noises. Prefers to burrow away or hide against its human. At risk of bolting at accidentally driving its antlers through random objects

Phoenix - Escaped its aviary. Soaring among the fireworks. Having the time of its (current) life

A sense began to develop.

You watched as your body extended indefinitely through time, forward and backward. You are nothing along the spectrum of all of existence. Tiny. Floating through space. A spec on the windshield of a car on a road in a city on a continent on a planet in a solar system in a galaxy in a universe.

You ask the infinitum of space and time who you are. But it does not hear you. You are nothing.

Within you something develops further.

You dive into the world around you, falling and shrinking into the space between molecules and atoms. You descend into worlds far smaller and complex than you could ever imagine. A body with a heart with veins with blood full of cells comprised of proteins composed of molecules built from atoms formed by electrons.

You ask the infintesium of the atom who you are. But it does not hear you. You are nothing.

“Listen to the fire. Listen to how it snaps and crackles. How it moves with the wind. It is distinct yet the same as the air around it. Take a photo. Look at it. It’s different now. Yet it is still fire. It burns. It does so because, by its nature, it is powerful. And when all things tell it that its strength doesn’t matter against the blazing sun it doesn’t stop burning the hands that touch it. When it is abstracted to a chemical reaction, does it stop heating a room?”

You grasp the chains in your hand, and listen. You feel the warmth of the room vanish, coallessing in your burns. You grip the chains harder, as the warmth concentrates into your palms.

The fire grows strong and wild, the flames lick the edge of the fireplace, and the crackles and snaps become pops and bangs.

“I still don’t get it.”

"You will."
