No trip Uptown wouldn't be complete without stopping in the Rum House! Plus, as I stood outside of the Terrance Osborn Art Gallery, the delicious aroma of Carribean spices pulled me in. . . . The Rum House is known for their delicious Tacos, Key Lime Pie and Rum Punch. I love the plantains. I know of all things on the menu I would say Plantains but they are so good. 😋 . . . My friend ordered the Taco Trifecta $14.95 Choice of three tacos and one side: Rasta (Vegetarian) Jerk roasted veggies, lime sour cream, cilantro & Curried Tempura Cauliflower (Vegan) Fried tempura cauliflower, tamarind sauce, Trinidadian curried coleslaw . . . Taco 🌮 are available à la carte or in combo platters one being The Mr. Biggs Plate; four tacos, one side item and a fried meat pie. And I ended it with a Key Lime Pie. Had I not indulged in champagne 🥂 at the Terrance Osborn Art Gallery I would have ordered a Rum Punch. . . . Weekends are for @kerbeylanecafe. This is one of my favorites on their menu besides the amazing #summermenu seared green beans that I eat like frenchfries! The chicken is flavored so well and who doesn’t love eggs?? Their #hollandaise is perfection. I’ve loved #kerbeylane since I first stepped into #Austin in 1998. If you are #glutenfree and or #vegan they have options for you also. They along with @magnoliacafewest were the first real farm to table restaurants in Austin so I love to pay homage to that! The original Kerbey Lane is my favorite now but my favorite past ones that were closed or changed are the ones on Lamar (where @gourdoughs is now) and the one on #guadeloupe, where the decor was changed from old school diner that I’d come to associate with Kerbey Lane to an updated look that I now associate with Them and where I actually worked for a couple of years. It stays crowded, especially at brunch time but it’s no longer daunting to get into a Kerbey Lane on the weekend mornings. Don’t want to wait in line for some of the best pancakes and coffee in #atx? There is an #appforthat!! The @nowaitapp and @kerbeylanecafe have joined forces to make your brunching a breeze!
