the sun is starting to rise, it hurts your eyes. the bright orange burning your pupils.

you close your eyes without a further thought. still singing to yourself, placing one foot in front of the other blindly. you're only a couple streets away from home, four, you think, more steps and then you should turn left.

even after you collide with something. hard. something with legs yours get tangled between. something with arms that grip your elbows to sttempt to steady you even as your body collapses like jelly.

knees folding with hardly any pressure. as if the air was enough to knock you down.

"christ." you swear, your eyes are still shut, now squeezed together in a wince when your knee scrapes, tearing a hole in your stockings, a run ripping up your thigh. you only open your eyes when he says your name, cracking one open to see one of your regulars beneath you, hair glowing in the sunrise, his eyes staring into yours.

"how do you know my name?" you know him, obviously. well. you know his order, you know he comes in at 5:30 most days, never orders anything but the green juice. never pastries. never a sandwich. never your famous coffee. just kale, ginger, apple and cucumber. you think maybe it's what fills his veins. you'd always been too busy glaring to notice the name on his card.

"you wear a name tag."

"oh. yeah."

"are you always walking around blindly at 4am?" his voice tickles your cheeks, your eyes still squeezed shut, all too aware of how the sun would hurt your eyes.

"only sunday's. i've got two hours to sober up enough to open." he only hums in response, prompting you to crack open your eyes with a soft wince at the light. the orange sunrise makes his hair look golden, the light shining through the strands to heat your face, "do you always run with your hair in a headband?"

you can't help the giggle that bubbles from your lips at the sight, hair pushed back from his hairline in a plain headband, plastic teeth holding his damp hair from his face.

your laughter settles back into a comfortable silence swiftly, your head dipping forward with a final joyful exhale. your eyes are slow to move, feeling like they're stuck on his lips for an eternity, like a fly in glue trap. it feels like slow motion when you inch closer, disarrayed waves falling in your face.

he doesn't move, even as your hair sweeps over his cheek gently, enough to make his lip twitch slightly, blink once and you'd miss it.

your voice disrupts your hair falling around his face when you speak again, too tipsy to really focus on how close you were to him, that you were both still tangled on the path, your legs still like jelly and your hands still on his stomach, "what's your name again?"

you're smiling, still staring at his lips when he says his name, watching the way his mouth moves around the sound, feeling how his stomach rises and falls with each breath.

"sae." you repeat it, lips almost pressing to his.

This is an independent, selective, and Private role play blog for Yumemizuki Mizuki, from Hoyoverse's Genshin Impact! This character is a Yumekui-Baku, a dream eating yokai. She is also a clinical psychologist. Meaning there will be a lot of psychological study on this blog. I have done my research, and am still doing research on the study. Twenty-one civil service employees resigned en masse from Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency, according to a letter posted online and shared with media outlets Tuesday. The letter said they refused to use their technical expertise to "compromise core government systems, jeopardize Americans’ sensitive data, or dismantle critical public services."

"We swore to serve the American people and uphold our oath to the Constitution across presidential administrations," wrote the staffers, who joined when the agency was known as the United States Digital Service (USDS). "However, it has become clear that we can no longer honor those commitments at the United States DOGE Service."

A person familiar with the letter confirmed its authenticity to NBC News.

The staffers behind the joint letter did not sign their names but listed their job titles, including “Engineer,” “Product Manager” and “Designer.” NBC News has not confirmed their identities.
