Sometimes when I feel like I just can't be in a place with people for the moment I go on long, unplanned walks. Just now a crawling beating eating feeling was grappling my chest and I thought, God, I don't know how to deal with this sensation. It's killing me. So I'm wandering around and looking for lawn benches, hopefully a bit secluded so that I can call the silence pretty.
I'm upcampus, and the fall colors dappling Nassau Hall are all so nostalgic of my first two years here. And I guess I haven't walked this way since the summer because as soon as Maruichi from this angle hit my field of view I immediately felt the warm hug of Elie's attic and my mouth watered for the rice balls that would fuel our midnight-long Tetris battles. It's weird knowing I'll never walk this way for that same purpose and do that same thing ever again. Saudade, I'd call it, if he wouldn't tell me I was pronouncing it all wrong.
I figure if I don't kill myself first the anxiety's gonna handle it for me anyway. I accidentally hit the play button on Take a Bite of Brains by Wicked Witch. It's a perfect electronic soup, a grimy square bass that reminds me of my old pocket synth and an adorable little flute that puts the whole thing in balance. I find myself missing the summer yet again. Every Tuesday at 10:52PM I'd make sure I grabbed my laptop and my charger and make a mad dash for the Bloomberg basement so I could listen to this kind of music for two straight hours with a faceless mass of maybe two or three regulars and whoever else wanted to feel their minds melt away with me. I didn't like that I liked the station or the drums so much at first but now they've become the only things I really do love. I guess everything else I did just for the sake of doing. This year everything shifted for me, it all went to shit and all made sense at the same time for the first time.
I hear wheels on the concrete roll behind me, and I first think it's a skateboard before another second passes and I know it can't be because the sound is too smooth. I think I'm just too attuned to the clatter because I had a lot of friends who liked to skateboard. Three of them I don't talk to very much nowadays — we're always in different places at different times, I guess. Two of them I love very much but they moved quite far from here and there's no real timer on when I'll see them again. There was another one who I also used to like very much but gradually turned into a distant memory — nowadays I think we always pretend we don't see each other or something like that in the rare occasions that we do.
I worry that I'm being too loud playing myself this Wicked Witch track in the middle of the lawn right now, but everyone I see passing by is all wearing earbuds anyway. We're all so caught up in our own worlds nowadays. You'd be hard-pressed to see me walking by on the street doing anything but checking my phone. I was jarred when it died last night because I kept trying to press buttons by habit, and every time it didn't turn on I knew my attention span was doomed. My co had a funny phrase for it; when we were out in the wilderness he'd always tell us he was "getting some dopamine" before pulling out his phone and I liked that.

ideas on where to pull an all-nighter upcampus besides Roma library after Frist and Firestone close at 2 am? thanks your girl is desperate
Response from Clipper:
So there are tons of academic buildings (with loads of open classrooms) that are locked to the public but open with a prox until various hours. So if you get into the building before midnight on a weekday, you can stay there all night to study Depends on what kinda vibe you’re going for as for where you might try it out. For up campus, maybe think places like East Pyne, Green Hall, Aaron Burr, or Whig/Clio or McCosh. See [x].
These are the Standard Hours where your prox will get you into buildings:

Response from Clover:
Come cry with me in Whitman library. Also Murray-Dodge is open all night tonight!

Had a good day overall today! Although I haven’t been doing as much work as I would like, especially because it’s midterms week, I’m trying to get myself into a better place mentally and that is the most important thing at the moment.
I got 9!!! hours of sleep, woke up at 8, and trekked up to one of the gorgeous gothic dhalls upcampus to get some of that good thick oatmeal. I worked there until my 11AM class, then grabbed lunch at the same dining hall, then went to my 12:30. I worked in an on-campus cafe for a while and then went to practice.
I had a good workout today! A good workout on the erg! I felt strong and even the fast splits felt easy(ish). I am in a much better state of mind than I was last week; I walked into that workout without anxiety and just crushed it. Hopefully I’ll be able to completely get rid of this performance-related anxiety and kill some more workouts. The joy and passion are slowly creeping back into this sport for me, and I’m really glad.

After that Mang Larry's and Rodic's Diner food trip, saw the Full Moon shining so bright on my view upon reaching the central beside the CHK gym inside UP Campus. Seems like it's a sign of Something Wonderful. Something Bright! Thank You Universe & Thank You Lord for Today! Good Night World! 🌝⭐️🌑 #fullmoon #upcampus #updiliman #instagood #vscocam #vsco (at UP College Of Human Kinetics)

Do you have to return books to Firestone or do the other libraries have places where you can drop off books. I have a ton I checked from Fstone but don't want to walk all the way upcampus.
Response from Olivia Pope:
Someone can correct me if I am wrong but pretty sure you can return books to any library, obvs not res college libraries though.
Response from Nick Carraway:
^She’s right! If you’re down campus, go to Lewis/Fine library.

My parents are coming for the weekend. What should I do with them? Are there any cool towns/things near Princeton? I kind of want to get off campus for a while
Response from Sushi: this has been answered before. science buildings are nice as is upcampus like firestone, east Pyne. Take your parents to a nice meal on Nassau. Etc. Use the search bar
Near Princeton I mean there’s not really much to do in Trenton or Newark and the rest of NJ is like residential or highways… could go to Philly or NYC otherwise not much to do.
Response from Sulpicia: You can also take your parents to Terhune Orchards (5 minute drive from campus), see a play at McCarter (right now something called “A Night With Janice Joplin” is playing), or you can go to the Art Museum (which has a really cool new photography exhibit). You can also go to the Institute for Advanced Study if you/your family is outdoorsy. AMC is also apparently having $5 movies all month, so that might be fun!
