im so sorry im gonna yell about about kalim and jamil again bc it just hit me and this had been bothering me ever since i read book 4

kalim????? knew how basically "two-faced" jamil all along???? even before his overblot and all??? (sorry if this was obvious already and im just slow 🧍)

he is VERY emotionally intelligent so i was always confused how he never caught on to jamil being fake around him

i chalked it up to jamil just being incredibly good at lying

so when jade used his UM on kalim ;;; kalim KNEW it was jamil, he KNEW he was being hypnotized, but he outright REFUSED to out him to jade bc he cares about him so much

i was always waiting on how that part would be addressed later on but i don't think it was ever explicitly mentioned again???

anyways kalim knew deep down about jamil but on the outside, he is like "that can't be, he's my best friend! we knew each other our whole lives!! he would never do that to me" like i think he was in that state of denial, the possibility of the person he trusted the most betraying him

and i'm SO happy that during book 7 kalim finally realizes the power dynamic between them and finally calling jamil out on his bullshit

It is really difficult to do, but you shouldn't make fun of people who do regret it cause guess what, there was thought behind it.

Look, a lot of nonbinary people don't know that's an option (looking androgynous can make you a target in certain places, whether it fits your gender or not) and assume that their gender has to just be opposite of their sex. People can be happy for some time and then not, for example genderfluid people. It's not just cis people.

What we need is more information for interested people, not making fun of people who were so confused they got surgery they ended up being discontent with.

Honestly the potential possibility that there is even a 1% chance that a confused cis person mistakenly gets a gender surgery they'll later regret should not be a reason to make gender-affirming surgeries harder to get. Not just because trans peoples' lives should be easier, but also because I find that thought to be fucking hilarious.
