I've been deep diving into the symbolism of flowers recently so have my thoughts on what Wither Roses would symbolise in the world of Fable - and other flowers at the end (most of which already exist but I have thoughts anyway)

yeah this is really long btw

to start, wither roses are black roses so first the symbolisms of roses and black roses respectively

Roses (general): love, beauty, royalty, achievement, perfection and secrecy Black Roses: Positive - strength, a triumph over the inevitibility of death Negative - death, mourning, revenge, hatred, sorrow, mystery

Now Wither Roses, I'll do a summary of the meanings then I'll ramble a little bit

Wither Roses: Positive - Familial love, determination, triumph over the inevitability of death, a sign of "get well soon" or "even the worst sickness can be cured", the good nature of destruction, soulbonds and love unseprable by death Negative - Terminal/deadly illness, death itself, loss of a family member/loved one, doomed love

Wither Roses are associated with Soul and Athena. Despite the many negative meanings of black roses, wither roses have many more postive meanings, especially for a deadly flower. The godess Soul's previous state as the Wither is a well known one, and the story is a well told one, the story of Athena, her child, working so hard over so many years to cure her. Thus the familal love and determination meanings. The Wither curse and sickness were both diseases that would've been considered deadly and uncurable until Athena, on both fronts proved that they were not. So the triumph over death and worst sickness can be cured meanings. The get well soon meanings, come from a similar nature. Soulbonds and love unserprable by death go hand in hand as the flower is a symbol of Soul herself, the good nature of destruction as well, Netherum is dead but the story of Soul and them is still told to this day. That Soul calmed them. And with Athena being the vessel of destruction and also a ray of sunshine that meaning has multiple origins.

The meanings of terminal/deadly illnesses is pretty intuitive, the flower coming into contact with the skin can cause death or sickness, one that is very difficult to cure. Death itself, for a similar reason, this also links with it being a variant of a black rose. Loss of a loved one, because Athena lost their mother for a long time and he very nearly died from a similar sickness. Doomed love is less intuitive, but something I've found with flower symbolism is all of them have to include love in some version of the meaning (and familial love is mentioned) but I think doomed love would be a very common interpretation for this flower, since roses are such common symbols of love, and black roses ones of such sorrow, it only makes sense that a black rose with the actual capacity to kill would be a symbol of such a thing as doomed love.

Also I want to mention, despite how most flower meanings are made for when giving flowers to others, wither roses are an exception. They are not commonly given to people as gifts due to their tendancy to cause death. Most of the symbolism comes from stories, poetry, and many other forms of art. A common way to use wither roses in something like a play is to use a black rose and dip the tips of the petals in a dark grey paint and/or to paint the thorns in grey/black. Sometimes though, artists like to leave it amiguious and up to the viewer to decide if the rose is inteded to be a regular black one or a wither rose. Due to this common substitution, sometimes the symbolism of the two similar roses becomes blurred and thought of as interchangable.

To talk a little more about why i chose the meanings, i really like the fact that wither roses symbolise familial love, i've looked at so many flower meanings and almost every single one of them talks about romantic love or some form of love and so few of them talk about plantonic or familial love and its sad to me that those forms of love don't get as much appreciation. There are a few flowers that symbolise love between friends, but if you look in the right places there will be a source that lists romantic love in some way.

If you made it this far, here are the other flowers. Didn't have as many thoughts about these but still some of them

Torchflowers would be a big symbol of rebirth and change (heavily associated with Fenris)

Oxeye Daisies would be known to mean love that lasts beyond death, due to the nature of Centross and Fenris' relationship

Blue Orchids (specifically after Icarus gets back) would become associated with family (unconventional ones specifically, with half or steps siblings and divorced/unmarried/remarried parents), and forgetting/remembering a loved one

Sunflowers become a symbol of home - being lost/finding your way home. Follow the sunflowers becomes a common phrase meaning to follow your heart and you will always find home and memory/rememberance of loved ones. Or a way to say "I will never forget you"

And a bonus not related to flowers, I think Athena would be an icon for disabled people like how Hephastus is, maybe Alliums are too because of their association with her

Jughead ran a hand over his tired face. This was it. He lied to his dad. To his girlfriend. His friends. He didn’t tell a soul where he was going. He couldn’t. Y/n was more than just his twin and his sister. Y/n was his best friend and he wouldn’t let her get hurt because of him. 

He had made sure to tell Betty that he loved her before leaving her sleeping in his bed. His dad was out combing the streets with surprisingly, Alice Cooper, Jughead knew deep down that he should have told someone, should have brought back up, but he couldn’t put one more person he cared for in danger.

Knocking on the door, Jughead waited long several minutes before the door finally opened.  Malachai stood there grinning from ear to ear. Of course, the Ghoulies were apart of this. Jughead should have known better.

“I see that you came alone, you’re a smart boy,” Malachai said. 

“Where’s my sister?” Jughead demanded to know. 

“You’ll see soon enough,” Malachai said before yanking Jughead inside. 

Jughead yanked the Ghoulie’s hand from his shirt. Malachai smirked as he lead the serpent to the room where Penny was waiting for the pair. 

“The fearless Serpent leader has finally arrived,” Penny taunted. 

Jughead bunched his fists. 

“Where is my sister?” Jughead demanded to know. 

“I had lots of fun with your sister once Penny let me have a turn,” Malachai smirked. 

Jughead’s stomach dropped. 

“What did you do to her?” Jughead asked. 

“I just want to show her what a real man could do,” Malachai said. “But the little bitch put up quite the fight. So I knocked her around instead to show her what I was capable of,”

Jughead paled at the thought of that asshole touching his sister. 

“Enough of the games, give me Y/n!” Jughead exclaimed.

Penny lifted her hand and then snapped her fingers. A door behind Penny opened, two ghoulies dragged Y/n out of the spare room. They dropped her at Jughead’s feet. 

“Y/n,” Jughead whispered as he dropped down next to his sister. 

“Get out of here,” Y/n said under her breath. 

“I’m here to save you,” Jughead told his sister. 

“It’s a trap,” Y/n hissed before coughing up blood. 

Jughead looked up at the grinning Penny. 

“Did you really think that I would pass by the opportunity to kill both of the Serpent King’s children?” Penny asked. 

The room quickly filled with several more ghoulies. Slowly, Jughead stood. 

“You really are a stupid bitch, aren’t you?” Jughead asked. 

“No, but I am the smartest bitch around,” Penny cackled. 

Penny snapped her fingers signaling for the ghoulies to close in on Jughead. Y/n pushed herself up to her knees. Jughead grabbed her arm and helped her to her feet. 

“We cannot take them by ourselves,” Jughead said. 

“I know, but I’m not going to let you go down swinging alone,” Y/n groaned. 

Jughead laced his hand with his sister’s. Y/n gave it a squeeze. This was it. They both knew that no matter what they did they weren’t going to be able to stop the ghoulies. Their time was up. 

Jughead glanced down at his twin. He wanted so much more for her. 

“I’m so sorry,” Jughead apologized. 

“Me too. I love you,” Y/n whispered. 

Jughead pushed Y/n behind him as the Ghoulies closed in on the pair. Y/n braced herself as Jughead lifted his fist. This was a losing battle, but they weren’t going to go out without a fight.

“Where is he? Where’s Jughead?” Betty asked as she ran to join her friends. 

“FP and Mrs. Cooper are still looking,” Toni answered. 

“We’ll find them, Betty,” Cheryl said rubbing her cousin's arm. 

Suddenly, Alice pulled up next to the teens. 

“Mom!” Betty exclaimed. 

“Watch out!” Alice hissed as she ran towards the back to open the door. 

“Y/n?” Fangs asked. 

“Juggie?” Betty whispered. 

FP and Sweet Pea pulled up behind Alice’s car. 

“Go get first aid kit, towels, and warm water,” Alice barked. 

Toni and Cheryl scurried into the trailer to gather the supplies. The others watched as FP pulled Jughead out of the backseat. His body was limp. Sweet Pea followed suit by picking Y/n up out of the seat. 

“Are they dead?” Fangs asked. 

“We’re not going to let that happen,” Alice reassured him as they all hurried inside. 

As FP hurried past Fangs with Jughead in his arms he could see the tears falling down his king’s face. Right then and there Fangs finally realized just how bad things were. 

“We have to take them to the hospital!” Archie exclaimed. 

He and Veronica had shown up about fifteen minutes after Alice and FP.

“Boy, if you don’t shut your mouth I’m going to shut it for you,” FP snarled. 

“Mr. Jones, Archie is right. The twins need professional medical help,” Veronica said. 

“And what would you like for us to tell them when your daddy’s sheriff comes in to investigate?” Toni snarled. 

“Not now, Toni,” Cheryl pleaded pulling her girlfriend away. 

“I can keep the sheriff off you,” Veronica began. 

“Like we could trust a Lodge, anyway,” Fangs growled. 

“Enough!” FP shouted silencing the teens’ arguments. 

The door to the trailer burst open. Kevin came storming in with his dad hot on his heels. 

“Sheriff Keller?” Alice asked. 

“I’m not sheriff anymore, Alice, but I do have a medical background. Let me help,” Keller said. 

Alice only nodded, Kevin pushed up his sleeves to join his dad’s side. 

“Everyone needs to get out of here,” Keller said. 

“I’m not leaving, Y/n!” Sweet Pea snapped. 

“And I’m not leaving Jug,” Betty added. 

“Fine, but everyone else out!” Keller ordered. 

Toni and Cheryl rounded everyone else up and ushered them outside.

“Kevin, I need your hands right here,” His dad ordered. 

Kevin said nothing as he moved to put his hands over the wound as his father instructed. The warmth of his friend’s blood didn’t gross him out like he thought it would. Instead, it only made him even more determined to help his dad save their lives. 

Three hours later, everyone was completely exhausted. Alice had sent all the teens home except for Sweet Pea and Betty who were on the couch snuggled up with each other fast asleep. 

Alice thanked the sheriff and Kevin for their help before the pair headed home. FP was outside on the porch talking to a few serpents. 

“I don’t care what it takes but we need to find Penny,” FP ordered. 

“We will,” Mouth said. 

“Call me within an hour with an update,” FP said. 

The several serpents nodded before climbing on their bikes to head back into town. 

“FP?” Alice called out. 

Slowly, FP turned around to face the blond. 

“I can’t thank you enough, Alice,” FP began. 

“You don’t have to,” Alice said. 

FP’s shoulders fell. His sobs were quick to take over him. Alice rushed foward to wrap her arms around him. 

“Shh, it’s okay, FP,” Alice cooed.

“My kids, Alice, she almost killed my kids,” FP sobbed. 

“But she didn’t FP, we got them, okay? And we’re going to make her pay for this,” Alice said. 

FP pulled away from Alice so he could wipe his eyes dry. 

“I can’t ask you to dig yourself any deeper in this serpent mess,” FP said. 

“I may have tried to hide my serpent past, FP, but I can’t. That bitch, messed with the wrong kids. We have to stop her,” Alice said. 

FP leaned down to kiss Alice softly. Together they were unseprable and together they were going to take down Penny Peabody.

James and sirius were brothers… unseprable. Peter and Remus were friends as time went on they became best friends. Remus and Sirius were best friends and if you ship them maybe they are more. Remus and James were best friends as well, James cared more about Remus than he cared to admit because of how he spends those monthly nights. They all tried to be close to Peter but he felt like a fifth grader who followed them around. Remus was by all means the closest to him and helped Peter belong.

Remus was the most hurt when peter betrayed them, seeing his best friend lying there and his wife, Sirius in jail and Peter dead. If anything all he wanted was to talk to someone who listened, but peter had been ‘killed’.

Is demon the dark side of OC? Yes.

For the three years OC spent with Sebby, he changes a lot. The demon is training him, rasing his soul and also force him to know his true desire and dark side. Actually in some cases, I think Demon represents OC's dark side. They are an unseprate one.(and that also make them an adorable couple)

Maybe when OC started to pretend RC, he is tired and worried and try to figure out how will RC make decisions so he can make the same. But I think as time went by, he became more like himself rather than RC. And I think when your motive is someone eles, it can never last long. That is why OC begin to think he made a contract with demon for himself.

That is why he chose demon instead of his dead family.

Honestly bless "Weird Girl Culture" and that I went through that "phase" pretty young. it offhandedly taught me words like "deranged" and various synonyms. The cute lil "happy llama, sad llama..." handshake thing Always got friends excited bc we all knew it and it was the best thing. I made some of the best short lived friendships from being that "weird girl who sits quietly and draws on everything". Bc I definitely wasnt the only one. This behavior was a common ground between all us introverted girls. If one of us got brave and started talking to one another, it was usually a conversation like "oh hey, I like this outlandish and Not-Well-Known-Thing too!! I get you!" And it was all downhill from there. We became unsepreable.
