got a free sample of some body lotion which has a scent that is described as "thoroughly masculine" on the packaging. in practice this apparently means it smells kinda like cedar. which is fascinating to me, because as far as I know the practice of putting cedar wood blocks in with your clothes is not gendered, but I guess cedar-scented lotion is? is it just that when it comes to scents anything that's not explicitly girly is manly by default?? or what? I'm thinking way too deeply about this probably

Hm. On impulse, got a moderately nice face cream. Thought "eh, you know, it's probably not worth it. It'll work about as well as the CeraVe does, I'm sure." Put it on. It does not make my dry spots burn the way the CeraVe does. What the fuck. I thought all moisturizers would do that. What the fuck.

Common laundry products, used in washing and drying machines, can contribute to outdoor emissions through dryer vents. However, the types and amounts of chemicals emitted are largely unknown. To investigate these emissions, we analyzed the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) both in the headspace of fragranced laundry products and in the air emitted from dryer vents during use of these products. In a controlled study of washing and drying laundry, we sampled emissions from two residential dryer vents during the use of no products, fragranced detergent, and fragranced detergent plus fragranced dryer sheet. Our analyses found more than 25 VOCs emitted from dryer vents, with the highest concentrations of acetaldehyde, acetone, and ethanol. Seven of these VOCs are classified as hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) and two as carcinogenic HAPs (acetaldehyde and benzene) with no safe exposure level, according to the US Environmental Protection Agency. As context for significance, the acetaldehyde emissions during use of one brand of laundry detergent would represent 3% of total acetaldehyde emissions from automobiles in the study area. Our study points to the need for additional research on this source of emissions and the potential impacts on human and environmental health.

this shit is so nasty, i have to do three wash cycles on every secondhand item of clothing or linens i get because everyone has drenched all their worldly possessions in tacky-smelling cancer triggers

when was the last time you cleaned your laundry washing machine? (scrubbed the gasket, the detergent drawer, ran a cycle with vinegar or washing machine cleaner)

also please put in the replies/tags whether ur laundry has ever been smelly right after washing (without sitting in the washing machine. maybe make a note of whether u use scented detergent also)

Disabled people are the experts on our bodies and should be trusted to decide what is best for us. But ALSO, I have spent approaching 40 years in aggressively scent-free environments, because my mama and I are not STUPID and wish to stay alive, and I regularly forget that various things HAVE perfumed options. Even when those items are perfumed 90% of the time.

"Of COURSE you can light a candle, I love fire!"

"Oh, can you throw my sweater in with the other clothes that got muddy? It's cold out and I'd like to wear it home."

"I'm gonna go over and play with those long sticks in the pretty holder. Your knickknacks are so PRETTY!"

So please, if you know your friends and they are as easily distracted from their own health as I am, ask them if they WANT you to step in before they murder themselves via easily avoided dangers. The amount of times I have had to choose between

having my brain shut down from fumes that I accidentally okayed, and

awkwardly telling someone that actually all their work needs to be undone because I forgot that people like pretty smells

is an unpleasantly high number.

Hi hi!! I've got a bit of a burning (pun intended) question. Do you happen to know anything about fire scrying? I'm new to divining with fire and was hoping for some general tips! Thank you for existing your blog is really cool ⭐️

Oh thank you so much! It's nice to know that people like my blog, especially since I've been too busy to post properly lately. Also, pun received, I am overjoyed. /gen

However, sadly- fire scrying is not something I work with. I'm gonna be honest with you, I'm asthmatic and prone to headaches- staring into a bright flame, or even working with candles often in general, is something my body would strongly disagree with lol. I've only ever owned a few candles at a time, and the closest I get to interpreting the flame is looking at my deity candles like "make it wiggle if you want some of my soda." My area of divination is mostly just working with my cards/"Idk man I just get vibes" type stuff.

But I can at least say this; Anyone who has any tidbits they think might be helpful, if you're able to reblog or reply with an answer better than mine please do!

I’ve been using Nellies laundry soap and using wool dryer balls (that I made an essential oil blend to spray on them cause I do like a little scent), and my clothes/towels/sheets have never felt as soft and fluffy as they do now.

Currently still in bed hunkering down because everything feels way too good to get out of.

stores are so obsessed with trying to sell me natural aluminum-free deodorant that smells like fucking girl scout cookies and does not work whereeee are the unscented deodorants for hoes that don't want to add unwanted powdery notes to the fragrance they're wearing and also don't want to wait for 30 minutes with their arms up while their gel deodorant dries so they don't get white residue on their nice little black dress who will think about ME !!!!

Aizawa never smells the same.

He always take morning showers when he’s still half asleep. He’ll grab whatever soap is nearest him to wash up with. No need to look, soap is soap and it all cleans the same. If it doesn’t lather, it’s probably conditioner and he just tries again.

Sometimes it’s one of Hizashi’s 300 hair and body products.

Sometimes it’s Eri’s ‘No Tears!’ apple scented kids shampoo.

Sometimes it’s whichever scent body wash Hitoshi liked the best at the store the last time they went.

He never smells the same, and this fact is a closely guarded and much coveted secret by those who have gotten close to him enough times to know.

Steam cleaning is fucking horrible as it turns out, but luckily I was prepared and put a fancy pot pie, which takes almost an hour to cook, into the oven before I started, so I'd have a reward/dinner when I was done.

In other news, I'm considering removing the skirt from this sofa... she has nice legs under there.
